IGCSE Maths Tutor in Al Qusais

Most families looking for an IGCSE maths tutor in Al Qusais are really asking what the whole thing will cost before June. So this page starts with the monthly figure, names who publishes each rate, shows which purchases move a grade and which quietly do not, and then explains the tier decision that is worth more than any tutor you could hire anywhere in Dubai.

  • Every AED figure here is a published market rate with a source
  • Lessons run one-to-one over live video, never at a UAE address
  • Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 taught by code, not by board name
  • No price list on this page, because the tier changes the answer

IB & IGCSE in Al Qusais

Start with the monthly number, not the hourly rate

An hourly rate tells an Al Qusais family almost nothing, because nobody buys one hour. What a household actually commits to is a line in the monthly budget running from October to the June series, and that is the number worth comparing. Bestimate's Dubai rate table, read in October 2026, puts a weekly one-hour session at roughly AED 240 to 600 a month for budget tutoring, AED 600 to 1,200 a month mid-market, and AED 1,000 to 2,000-plus a month for specialist exam-year support. Published monthly packages in the market sit alongside those estimates: around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Those two in-home and online monthly figures are the clearest signal in the whole Dubai tutoring market. Roughly double the money buys half the sessions, and the difference is not teaching quality - it is a car. An independent tutor coming into Al Qusais from Barsha or the Marina at 16:30 is absorbing forty to seventy minutes each way on Al Ittihad Road and Damascus Street, and that time is billed inside the fee whether anybody itemises it or not. Al Qusais sits awkwardly for this: close to the Sharjah boundary, fed by the evening peak, and far from where most freelance tutors advertise.

The second thing worth knowing before any money is spent is that the biggest financial decision in IGCSE maths is not which tutor you hire. It is which tier your child was entered for. Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 runs a Core tier capped at grade C and an Extended tier reaching A*, and the school makes that entry decision, usually in Year 10. A student wrongly parked on Core cannot be tutored to an A, however many hours are bought, because the paper does not contain the marks. A student stretched onto Extended too early can lose a safe C chasing a B.

The third is that some of the most popular purchases in this market do not move a grade. Group revision classes sold by the term, past-paper bundles, generic weekly sessions with no marking, and tutoring that starts in April. Each has a reason parents buy it and a reason it underperforms, and both are set out on this page with the cheaper alternative beside them. The intention is not to talk anybody out of spending money - it is to make sure the money buys marks rather than reassurance.

IB Gram delivers IGCSE maths tuition to UAE families as one-to-one lessons over live video, on Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. For an Al Qusais family the practical effect is that the travel premium disappears from the price, the tutor is chosen by syllabus code rather than by driving distance, and a 16:00 Tuesday slot does not depend on traffic between Al Nahda Road and wherever the tutor happens to live.

  • Cambridge runs June and November for UAE candidates; the Feb/March series is offered to India only
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An IGCSE maths tutor in Al Qusais gets asked for at three points: the Year 9 options conversation, the Year 10 tier decision, and the Year 11 panic after the first mock. Here is what each stage costs in time and what it is worth paying for.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Mathematics, Years 10-11

Two years, one qualification, and a tier decision in the middle of it. Cambridge 0580 splits into Core and Extended; Pearson's International GCSE 4MA1 splits into Foundation and Higher, each with two written papers. Both boards examine number, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics and probability, and both now place real weight on written method rather than on the final answer alone.

Dubai schools around Al Qusais vary in when they commit a student to a tier. Some decide at the end of Year 9, some after the Year 10 internal exams. Ask the head of mathematics in writing which tier your child is provisionally entered for and when the entry is final, because tutoring bought before you know the answer is bought blind.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Years 7-9, the cheapest place to spend the money

Lower secondary is where algebraic fluency is either built or missed, and it is the cheapest point in a child's schooling to fix it. Negative numbers, fractions as operators, index laws, rearranging formulae and the habit of showing a method line. A student who arrives in Year 10 secure on those five things rarely needs expensive Year 11 intervention.

Families in Al Qusais often start tutoring in Year 11 because that is when a mock grade makes the problem visible. Spending a third of that budget in Year 8 and Year 9 would have cost less and achieved more, which is an uncomfortable thing for a tutoring page to publish and true nonetheless.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

After IGCSE: the route into Diploma or A Level maths

Extended or Higher tier is the normal entry route into IB Diploma Analysis and Approaches or an A Level maths course. Neither IGCSE specification covers calculus to the depth those courses assume, so a bridging block in the summer after Year 11 is a separate, smaller purchase - and a far better value one than remedial work in the first term of Year 12.

Several schools near Al Qusais offer the IB Diploma, and the maths courses they run differ by school. If the Diploma is the plan, confirm with the IB coordinator which of the four Diploma maths courses are actually timetabled before Year 11 ends, because the answer may change which tier is worth pushing for now.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Families search for an IGCSE maths tutor in Al Qusais and then describe something far more specific once a tutor is on the call. These are the requests that come up most from this part of Dubai, with the cost of fixing each one.

Algebraic manipulation

Core and Extended

Expanding, factorising, rearranging, solving simultaneous and quadratic equations. The highest-value topic in the specification because it appears inside questions about everything else. Cheap to fix with short daily drills and expensive to leave alone, since every later topic inherits the errors.

The non-calculator paper

Both Cambridge tiers

Cambridge now sets a non-calculator written paper on both tiers, which changed what Year 10 needs to practise. Fractions, percentages, surds, index laws and standard-form arithmetic done by hand. Students taught with a calculator permanently available lose straightforward marks here and recover them quickly once drilled.

Trigonometry and bearings

Extended and Higher

Sine and cosine rules, area of a triangle, three-dimensional problems and bearings. Marks are lost in the setup rather than the trigonometry - a mislabelled diagram or a bearing measured from the wrong north line costs the whole question even when the calculation is correct.

Graphs, transformations and functions

Extended and Higher

Sketching quadratics, cubics and reciprocals, reading solutions from a graph, function notation, composite and inverse functions. The common failure is sketching features that were not asked for while omitting the intercepts and asymptotes that carry the marks.

Probability and statistics

Core, Extended, Foundation, Higher

Tree diagrams, Venn diagrams, cumulative frequency, histograms with unequal class widths and the interpretation sentences at the end. The histogram question is the single most reliably mishandled item on either board, because frequency density is taught once and tested in an unfamiliar form.

Mensuration and compound measures

Core and Extended

Surface area and volume of composite solids, similar shapes with area and volume scale factors, speed, density and pressure. The scale-factor rules are two lines of theory and worth several marks a paper, which makes them one of the best hours a tutor can spend.

Method marks and exam technique

All tiers

Writing a method line, keeping unrounded values in the calculator, answering in the units asked, and reading the command word. Students arriving from systems that reward only the final answer lose marks across every paper to this, and it is the cheapest thing on the whole list to repair.

Tier diagnosis before entry is finalised

Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher

A single marked paper at each tier, before the school's entry deadline, usually answers the question the family has been arguing about for a term. It costs one session and can change the grade ceiling for two years, which makes it the highest-return hour on this page.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy IGCSE maths help, priced differently and suited to different problems. The question is not which is best but which one the money in front of you should go on this term.

Weekly one-to-one online

A fixed slot with the same tutor each week on Gulf Standard Time, over live video with a shared whiteboard and the student's own written work photographed and annotated during the session. No travel sits inside the fee, which is why the published online monthly figures run at roughly half the in-home ones for twice the sessions.

  • Matched to the syllabus code: 0580, 4MA1 or 4MB1
  • Homework marked against the real scheme, not ticked
  • Slots from 15:45 to 21:30 Gulf Standard Time
  • Nothing cancelled because Al Ittihad Road has stopped moving

A single diagnostic session

The cheapest useful purchase in this market and the one almost nobody sells. One session, one marked paper at the tier in question, one written list of named weaknesses with the marks attached to each. Families use it to settle the tier argument, to decide whether weekly tutoring is needed at all, or to brief a tutor they have already found elsewhere.

  • One paper, marked against the published scheme
  • Written output you keep, whoever teaches afterwards
  • Often shows the problem is three topics, not the subject
  • Best bought before the school's tier entry deadline

A costed block before the June series

Two sessions a week for a defined six to ten weeks, aimed at a diagnosed list rather than at the syllabus. Priced and ended as a block, so the total is known at the start and nothing renews by default. This is what an exam-year budget should mostly be spent on, rather than on a year of low-intensity weekly sessions.

  • Fixed number of sessions, fixed end date
  • Three to six named topics plus timed technique
  • Every session opens with the previous week's marked work
  • Ends when the exam does

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Qusais

01

What IGCSE maths tuition actually costs in Al Qusais, cheapest option first

Work upwards from the cheapest thing available, because that is how the options present themselves to a parent typing into Google. At the bottom of the Dubai market sit online platforms staffed largely by university students, with Tutopiya's published rates beginning around AED 33 to 52 an hour when read in October 2026 and EdFlik listing sessions from AED 45 to 65. That money buys a competent pair of eyes on a homework sheet. It does not generally buy someone who knows that Cambridge 0580 now sets a non-calculator paper on both tiers.

One step up, a qualified subject tutor working online is quoted across Dubai at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB tuition from AED 200. This is the band most Al Qusais families settle into for IGCSE maths, and it is usually the right one: the specification is well documented, the papers are public, and a good maths graduate who has taught the board can do this work. The premium band above - roughly AED 200 to 450 and beyond, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate putting specialist exam-year rates at AED 200 to 450-plus - is better justified at Diploma or A Level than at IGCSE.

In-home visits are the expensive end and the reason this page exists. Dubai in-home one-to-one is quoted between roughly AED 180 and 500 an hour inclusive of travel, with Bestimate's table showing AED 180 to 350 and independent tutors asking AED 200 to 500. At the top of the market BartyED published AED 650 for premium named tutors. Convert all of that into monthly commitments and the picture sharpens: around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Every figure above was published by the provider named and read in October 2026. None of them is an IB Gram price, and we do not print one on these pages, because the honest quote depends on the tier, the number of weeks left and how much marking is involved. The free trial lesson exists so a family can judge a tutor before any fee is discussed; its only condition is that it is one lesson with one matched tutor.

Five purchases Al Qusais families make that rarely move an IGCSE maths grade

  • Group revision by the term: good for boundary cases, weak for fluency gaps
  • Past-paper bundles: the papers are free; the marking is the product
  • Weekly sessions with no written diagnosis or review
  • Starting eight weeks out and expecting content, not technique
  • Buying hours before the tier entry has been confirmed with the school

This is the part of the budget worth auditing before adding to it. The first is the term-length group revision class, sold cheaply per head and taught to the middle of the room. It works for a student who is close to a grade boundary and needs reminding; it does very little for a student whose problem is algebraic fluency, because that problem is individual and the class cannot stop for it. Three one-to-one diagnostic hours usually beat a term of group sessions for the same money.

The second is the past-paper bundle. Past papers are free from the board's own site and from most schools, so paying for a collection buys convenience rather than content. What actually has value is marking - a paper marked against the published scheme by someone who explains why a method line earned nothing. A hundred unmarked papers teach a student their own bad habits more thoroughly.

The third is the open-ended weekly session with no written output. If nobody can say at the end of a month which three topics were fixed and what the marked evidence was, the money bought company rather than progress. Insist on a short written list after the diagnostic session and a tick against it monthly. This costs a tutor nothing and changes how the hour is used.

The fourth is tutoring that starts in April for a June series. Eight weeks is enough to repair technique and close a few named gaps; it is not enough to build two years of algebra, and a provider who implies otherwise is selling hope. The fifth is paying for the wrong tier. A student entered on Cambridge Core cannot reach a B, so money spent chasing one is wasted until the entry itself is revisited with the school.

03

The tier decision: Cambridge 0580 Core against Extended, in money terms

No tutoring decision in IGCSE maths matters as much as the tier, and it is the one most parents in Al Qusais discover late. Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 is examined at two tiers. Core is graded C to G and sits a non-calculator written paper and a calculator written paper covering the core content. Extended is graded A* to E and sits its own non-calculator and calculator papers on the full content, including the harder algebra, trigonometry, functions and calculus-adjacent topics that a Diploma or A Level course later assumes.

The financial consequence is blunt. On Core, grade C is the ceiling. A family spending AED 1,200 a month for eight months on a Core candidate in pursuit of a B is buying something the examination cannot deliver. On Extended, the floor is lower - a student out of their depth can score an E or ungraded where Core might have secured a solid C - so pushing a borderline student up a tier carries its own cost. Both errors are expensive and both are avoidable with one marked paper at each tier before the entry closes.

Pearson handles the same problem differently. The International GCSE in Mathematics Specification A, code 4MA1, is tiered Foundation and Higher, with Foundation reaching grade 5 and Higher running 9 to 4, and a calculator permitted on both of its two-hour papers. A student who would be capped at C on Cambridge Core might reach a 5 on Pearson Foundation, which maps differently against sixth-form entry requirements. Which board your child's school uses is therefore part of the tier conversation, not a separate one.

Practically: ask the head of mathematics, in writing, which tier your child is provisionally entered for, when the entry becomes final, and what evidence the decision rests on. Then buy one diagnostic session at the tier above and one at the tier below if there is genuine doubt. That is two hours of tutoring to settle a decision that governs two years of spending.

04

Cambridge or Pearson: the differences that change what you pay for

Al Qusais schools do not all use the same board, and a tutor who teaches one fluently can still cost a family marks on the other. Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics is syllabus 0580, with the Core and Extended tiers described above and a non-calculator paper now set on both. Cambridge also publishes Additional Mathematics and International Mathematics variants that some schools in this part of Dubai run alongside or instead of 0580, so the code on the timetable is worth checking rather than assuming.

Pearson's International GCSE in Mathematics Specification A is 4MA1, tiered Foundation and Higher, with two papers of two hours each and a calculator permitted throughout. Specification B is 4MB1, structured differently with a shorter first paper and a longer second. The practical difference for a student is the absence of a non-calculator paper on 4MA1 and the presence of one on 0580 - which means the same child, on the same content, needs a different practice regime depending on which board their school entered them for.

Session timing differs too, and this is where dates matter to a family planning spending. Cambridge runs a June series and a November series for UAE candidates, and the February and March series is offered to India only, so no Al Qusais parent should be planning around a March exam. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November; the November final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students the following day, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

Cambridge also allocates every examination centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, warning that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. That is a school administrative matter rather than a tutoring one, but it is the kind of detail worth knowing exists. Always work from the live official timetable on the board's own site rather than from a date restated anywhere else, including here.

Twelve weeks, costed three ways for an Al Qusais household

Abstract bands are hard to budget against, so here are three plans a family in this neighbourhood might actually run between the first mock and the June series, each built from the published market rates above rather than from an IB Gram quote. The point of setting them side by side is that the most expensive plan is not always the one that moves the grade furthest, and the cheapest is not always false economy.

The lean plan is one diagnostic session followed by one weekly hour for eleven weeks at mid-market online rates, with the student doing a marked past paper every fortnight in their own time. At roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour that lands in the region of AED 1,800 to 3,600 across the block. It suits a student sitting at a 5 or 6 whose problem is three identifiable topics and whose homework actually gets done.

The focused plan is one diagnostic session followed by two hours a week for ten weeks, aimed at a written list and with every session opening on the previous week's marked work. At the same hourly band that is roughly AED 3,000 to 6,000. This is the plan we would recommend for most students who are two grades off where they need to be, because the second weekly hour is what converts marking into correction.

The in-home plan is four two-hour visits a month at the packaged market figure of AED 1,599 to 1,799, which across three months reaches roughly AED 4,800 to 5,400 for twenty-four contact hours. Compare that with the focused plan's twenty hours at the lower end of the online band and the structural point becomes visible: in-home buys fewer, longer, less frequent sessions for more money, and frequency is what repairs algebra. A family that genuinely needs someone physically present should buy it with that trade-off in view rather than by accident.

Checking a tutor is permitted to teach, and what to ask before paying

  • Ask for the MoHRE private tuition work permit by name
  • No fine schedule is published, so treat quoted penalty amounts as unverified
  • Avoid paying your child's own class teacher privately
  • Ask which syllabus code and tier the tutor teaches, not just which board
  • Ask for written marking against the published scheme after the first paper

Private tutoring in the UAE is permit-regulated and a parent is entitled to ask about it. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is open to teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students. MoHRE's own service, Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system.

Two things follow from that. Anyone offering private tutoring without a permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published - so a figure circulating online as the penalty should be treated as unverified. A tutor who cannot answer the permit question, or who becomes evasive about it, has told you something useful for free. Ask ours the same question.

There is a second boundary worth knowing. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff have been reported as prohibiting teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct has been reported as barring the same thing. Treat that as press-reported and verify against the current policy document, but the principle is sound anywhere in the Emirates: your child's own classroom teacher is the wrong person to pay privately, whatever the convenience.

The rest of the checklist is about competence rather than legality. Which syllabus code do you teach - 0580, 4MA1 or 4MB1? Which tier does my child's current work sit in and what is the evidence? Will you mark a paper against the published scheme and send me the list? What happens in week four if nothing has shifted? A tutor with real answers to those four questions is worth the mid-market rate. One without them is not worth the budget rate.

07

What IB Gram actually sells an Al Qusais family, and what it does not

We match an IGCSE maths tutor to the syllabus code and tier your child sits, and the lesson runs one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The first lesson is a free trial with the matched tutor - one lesson, with the fee discussed afterwards rather than before. There is no office, centre or branch in the Emirates, no tutor is sent to a UAE address, and home visits are a service we run only in India. All of that is stated the same way on every UAE page on this site, which is the only way a reader can check it.

We hold no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson, and nothing on this page should be read as implying one. Where a regulator is named here it is to explain what that body does. KHDA, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai, inspects schools - not tutors - and its published school ratings belong to the school as a whole rather than to a mathematics department.

We publish no success rate, no star rating, no student headcount and no average grade improvement. Those numbers appear on competing pages in this search result, sometimes contradicting themselves within one page, and none of them can be produced on request. The figures we do publish on this page are other people's prices, attributed and dated, plus Dubai's private-school market size from the emirate's own media office: 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 curricula, with UK curriculum at 37%, Indian at 26%, US at 14% and International Baccalaureate at 7%.

One more piece of context for a budget conversation. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package. School fees are therefore flat for the year ahead, which makes the tutoring line the part of an Al Qusais education budget that a family still fully controls - and the reason it is worth spending deliberately rather than reactively.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Qusais

Cost is not even across this cluster, because travel, school fees and the mix of curricula differ street by street. Here is how each neighbourhood near Al Qusais changes the arithmetic.

Al Qusais 1 and 2

Apartment-dense and close to the Green Line. Short distances to several schools, which keeps fees and commutes modest, but far enough from the freelance tutor belt in New Dubai that in-home quotes arrive at the upper end of the published range.

Al Qusais 3

Nearest the Sharjah approach and the Al Ittihad Road evening peak. Afternoon in-home slots here are the most likely in the cluster to be quoted with a travel premium or cancelled outright, which pushes families towards evening online sessions.

Al Nahda

Split across the Dubai-Sharjah boundary, so neighbouring households can face different regulators and different fee-approval regimes. Comparing tuition value here means comparing two systems at once rather than one.

Al Mamzar

Villa-heavy and home to one of the area's established Diploma cohorts. Families here more often buy Extended-tier stretch work aimed at an A or A*, rather than the grade-4-to-6 recovery work typical further west.

Hor Al Anz and Al Muteena

Older Deira neighbourhoods with a high share of Indian-curriculum schools. Where a student has moved onto an IGCSE track mid-way, the first purchase is usually a diagnostic paper rather than weekly tutoring.

Oud Metha and Al Mankhool

The Cambridge-heavy side of the catchment, with several large schools running 0580 at both tiers. Most of the tier-diagnosis requests on this page come from here, and most of them arrive two weeks after the Year 10 internal exams.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Qusais

Al Qusais, Al Nahda and Al Mamzar

A short radius containing Indian-curriculum, British-track and IB schools, which is why two students on the same street can be sitting 0580, 4MA1 and a CBSE maths paper in the same year group. The syllabus code matters more than the postcode when choosing a tutor.

  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • The Millennium School, Dubai
  • Apple International School
  • Al Ittihad Private School, Al Mamzar

Oud Metha, Bur Dubai and Al Garhoud

The main Cambridge IGCSE belt within reach of Al Qusais, and the source of most tier questions. Several of these schools enter students across both Core and Extended in the same cohort, so a parent comparing two children's grades is often comparing two different grade ceilings.

  • St Mary's Catholic High School, Dubai
  • Dubai Gem Private School
  • Al Mawakeb School, Al Garhoud
  • The Indian High School, Dubai
  • Deira International School

Named schools appear here as context for the neighbourhood's school ecosystem and the qualifications its students sit; no affiliation, endorsement or partnership is implied, and current curriculum, board and tier arrangements should be confirmed with the school and against KHDA's published school listing.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the syllabus code and the tier

0580, 4MA1 or 4MB1, Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher, plus the school and the last mock grade. If the tier is not settled, say so - that changes what the first session is for and is worth sorting before any block is booked.

  2. 02

Buy the diagnostic before the block

One session, one marked paper at the tier in question, one written list of named weaknesses with marks attached. You keep that list whoever teaches afterwards, and it frequently shows the problem is three topics rather than the subject.

  3. 03

Meet the matched tutor in a free trial lesson

One lesson, one tutor, no fee agreed in advance. Judge whether the explanations land and whether your child talks for a reasonable share of the hour. If the fit is wrong, say so and we match again rather than defending the first choice.

  4. 04

Agree a block with an end date

A fixed number of weeks aimed at the written list, with a known total rather than an open subscription. Nothing renews by default. When the list is closed we say so, which is a worse business model and a better deal for the family.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Sourced prices, not a sales range

Every AED figure on this page belongs to the provider that published it and was read in October 2026. Three of the six competitor pages researched in this market publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars - a currency Al Qusais families do not transact in.

The tier conversation before the invoice

We will tell an Al Qusais family that extra hours on a capped Core entry cannot produce a B, even though saying so costs us the sale. One marked paper at each tier settles a decision that governs two years of spending.

No travel premium inside the fee

Published in-home packages in Dubai run at roughly AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour visits, against about AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. Online delivery removes the car from the price and from the cancellation risk.

Matched by syllabus code

Cambridge 0580 now sets a non-calculator paper and Pearson 4MA1 does not. A tutor matched by board name rather than by code can be teaching the wrong practice regime for a term without anybody noticing.

Written output you keep

After the diagnostic you hold a list of named weaknesses with the marks attached. It is yours whether you continue with us, switch tutor or stop. A family that cannot name what was fixed this month has bought reassurance rather than marks.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Qusais: your questions answered

How much should an Al Qusais family budget for IGCSE maths tutoring in total?+

Think in blocks rather than hours. Bestimate's Dubai estimates for a weekly one-hour session run roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at budget level and AED 600 to 1,200 mid-market, read in October 2026. A realistic twelve-week run with a diagnostic and two hours a week at mid-market online rates lands somewhere between AED 3,000 and 6,000 in total. A packaged online bundle seen in the market sits around AED 799 a month for eight sessions. Those are other providers' published figures, not ours; we quote against the tier and the weeks remaining.

Why is in-home IGCSE maths tutoring in Al Qusais quoted so much higher than online?+

Because the travel is inside the fee. Published Dubai in-home rates run roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour inclusive of the tutor's round trip, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified tutor online. Al Qusais sits near the Sharjah boundary and takes the full force of the Al Ittihad Road evening peak, so a tutor crossing from New Dubai is absorbing forty to seventy minutes each way. The visible result in monthly packages is around AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits against about AED 799 for eight online sessions.

My child is entered for Cambridge Core. Can tutoring get them a B?+

No, and any provider who says otherwise is misleading you. Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 Core is graded C to G, so grade C is the ceiling that the papers can produce. If a B or above is needed for a sixth-form place, the conversation to have is with the head of mathematics about the Extended entry, not with a tutor about more hours. What tutoring can do before the entry is final is provide evidence: one marked Extended paper usually tells a school more than a term of classroom impressions.

Does Cambridge 0580 really have a non-calculator paper now?+

Yes, and it changed what Al Qusais students need to practise. Both Cambridge tiers now sit a non-calculator written paper alongside a calculator one, which means hand arithmetic, fractions, percentages, index laws and standard form are examined directly rather than delegated to a device. Students taught with a calculator always available lose straightforward marks to this and recover them quickly with short daily drills. Pearson's 4MA1, by contrast, permits a calculator on both of its papers - so the same child needs a different practice regime depending on which board their school uses.

Is a group IGCSE maths class in Dubai better value than one-to-one?+

It depends entirely on the problem. A group class is good value for a student who is close to a grade boundary and needs structured reminding across the whole syllabus, and it is poor value for a student whose issue is algebraic fluency, because the class cannot stop for one person's gap. For the price of a term of group sessions a family can usually buy two or three marked one-to-one diagnostics, which is more likely to identify what is actually wrong. Buy the group class second, after you know the diagnosis.

When is the cheapest time to spend money on IGCSE maths for my child?+

Year 9 and the first half of Year 10, which is almost never when families do it. Algebraic fluency, index laws, rearranging formulae and the habit of writing a method line are cheap to build early and expensive to retrofit in Year 11. Most of the tutoring budget in this neighbourhood is spent after the first Year 11 mock has made the problem visible, at which point the same money buys exam technique rather than foundations. If you are reading this with a Year 9 student, a single diagnostic now is the highest-return purchase available.

What should I ask an IGCSE maths tutor in Dubai before I pay anything?+

Four questions. Which syllabus code do you teach - 0580, 4MA1 or 4MB1? Which tier does my child's current work sit in, and what is the evidence for that? Will you mark a past paper against the published scheme and send me a written list of weaknesses? What happens in week four if nothing has shifted? Then one more: do you hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit? It is granted free of charge for two years, so there is no cost reason for a working tutor not to have one.

Which exam series will my child in Al Qusais actually sit?+

For Cambridge candidates in the UAE, the June series with November available as a resit route. The February and March series is offered to India only, so no Dubai family should be planning around a March exam date. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November; its November final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the following day, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Work from the board's live official timetable rather than any restated date.

How many hours of IGCSE maths tutoring does a grade actually take?+

There is no honest universal number, but there is an honest structure. Moving from a 5 to a 6 or 7 on a diagnosed list of three topics typically takes a block of twelve to twenty contact hours spread across eight to twelve weeks, because frequency matters more than total length - the gap between the lesson and the homework it was meant to fix is what decides whether anything sticks. Moving two grades from a low base takes longer and starting in April does not shorten it. No tutor can promise a particular grade for a particular number of hours, and a quote framed that way is not one to accept.

Can you help if my child's school uses a board your tutor does not know?+

We match on the code rather than guess. If your child sits Cambridge Additional Mathematics, Cambridge International Mathematics or Pearson Specification B rather than the common 0580 or 4MA1 route, say so in the first message and we look for a tutor who has taught that specification. If nobody suitable is free in your preferred window, you are told that at the match stage with the alternatives and a date, rather than after a payment. A disclosed wait costs an Al Qusais family less than a mismatched tutor.

With Dubai school fees held flat, how should an Al Qusais family rebalance the tutoring line?+

It changes the arithmetic of the household budget rather than the tutoring decision itself. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package. With the largest line in an education budget flat for the year, the tutoring line is the part a family still controls - which is an argument for spending it deliberately, on a diagnosed list with written output, rather than reactively after a disappointing mock.

Are online IGCSE maths lessons effective for a student who dislikes screens?+

For maths the honest answer is usually yes, because the subject is written and the format carries written work well. A shared whiteboard, the student's own page photographed and annotated live, and screen-shared papers reproduce the part of a lesson that matters: watching working appear line by line and stopping at the line where it goes wrong. The variable that decides it is the tutor's habit of asking rather than telling. Use the free trial lesson to check whether your child talks for a reasonable share of the hour.

What does a diagnostic session for IGCSE maths actually produce?+

A past paper or a substantial section of one, sat under something close to timed conditions, marked against the published scheme, and turned into a written list of three to six named weaknesses with the marks lost attached to each. It will usually also give a view on whether the current tier entry is right. You keep that document whether you continue with us, take it to another tutor, or decide no weekly tutoring is needed. It is the cheapest useful thing in this market and almost nobody sells it on its own.

Do you offer in-home IGCSE maths tutoring anywhere in Al Qusais or Al Nahda?+

No. Every UAE lesson we arrange is one-to-one over live video, and home visits are a service we run only in India. We say that before a family spends anything rather than after. The Dubai market does supply in-home tutors at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour inclusive of travel, and for some households having a person in the room is worth the premium. If that is your decision, make it knowing the trade-off is fewer, longer, less frequent sessions - and ask the tutor about their MoHRE permit.

Settle the tier, then spend the money

If you are pricing an IGCSE maths tutor in Al Qusais, two steps come before any monthly commitment. Confirm with your child's head of mathematics which tier they are entered for and when that entry becomes final, then buy one diagnostic session and get a marked paper and a written list of named weaknesses. Those two things usually change what the budget needs to be, and sometimes they show that three topics rather than a subject are the problem. After that, the first lesson with a matched tutor is a free trial - one lesson, fee discussed afterwards - delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.
