IGCSE Home Tutor in Al Mizhar

Families look for an IGCSE home tutor in Al Mizhar at a specific moment: a mock has come back badly, or a series is close enough to count the weeks. This page is built around that calendar. The local market charges AED 180 to 500 an hour for a tutor at the door, much of it for the drive out past Mirdif. IB Gram delivers one-to-one IGCSE tuition to Al Mizhar families over live video in Gulf Standard Time, starting this week rather than when somebody is free to travel.

  • One-to-one lessons over live video, never a tutor at a UAE address
  • Eight-week plans written backwards from your child's actual exam dates
  • UAE candidates sit June and November; the March series is India only
  • Free first lesson worked on a past question from your child's own code

IB & IGCSE in Al Mizhar

Count the weeks first, then decide what to buy

Nobody searches for an IGCSE tutor in the abstract. The search happens in a particular week of a particular term, usually after a report or a mock, and what should be bought depends almost entirely on how many weeks remain before the paper that matters. A family with eighteen months is making a different purchase from a family with eight weeks, and selling both of them the same weekly hour is the commonest failure in this market.

So start with the calendar. Find out which series your child is entered for, because that single fact sets everything else. UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series. Cambridge runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in those two series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February and March series is offered to India only, and a revision plan built around a March window is a plan for a different country. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone, warning that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

Then count backwards from the paper, not forwards from today. Eight weeks is the shortest window that reliably moves a grade, and it only works if it is spent on the specific thing the marks are leaving from rather than on a general revision programme. Sixteen weeks allows content repair as well as technique. Three weeks allows nothing except examination technique and triage, and anybody promising more than that in three weeks is selling.

The home-tutoring question has a short answer. The local market does supply in-home tuition, at a published AED 180 to 500 an hour, and a meaningful part of that rate is the journey out past Mirdif through Algeria Street or Tripoli Street in the afternoon. IB Gram does not sell it anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. Lessons for Al Mizhar families are one to one over live video in Gulf Standard Time. On a calendar-driven purchase that matters practically as well as financially, because availability near a series is tight and a tutor who does not have to drive to Al Mizhar can start this week.

One warning about the arithmetic before you do it. The weeks you have are not the weeks on the calendar. Subtract Ramadan, subtract the school break, subtract the trip already booked, and subtract the week either side of any other subject's mock, because a student revising for one paper is not revising for yours. Families routinely believe they have twelve weeks and discover they have seven, which is how an eight-week plan ends up being attempted in five.

What follows is the detail: what each term of the year has to achieve, an eight-week plan that fits around a long bus route, the series and entry deadlines counted backwards, how to choose which subject gets the weeks when several are weak, and the honesty boundary on coursework.

At a glance

  • The right purchase depends on the weeks remaining, not on the subject alone
  • UAE candidates sit June and November; the Cambridge February and March series is India only
  • Eight weeks is the shortest window that reliably moves a grade, and only if it is targeted
  • In-home tuition in Dubai is quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour; qualified online tutoring at AED 150 to 300
  • IB Gram does not send tutors to UAE homes; that service exists only in India
  • Al Mizhar bus routes run long, so the slot is set from the arrival home
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Where a student sits in the IGCSE cycle changes what tutoring is for. These are the stages, described by how much time each has left.

Y9Ages 13-14 · Year 9

Year 9 and the tier decision

The year before the examined course, and the cheapest point to act. Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October give schools an external read, and many use Year 9 results to stream Year 10 into Core and Extended routes. Nothing here is examined for a certificate, which means a fluency gap costs a few sessions rather than a grade.

Several schools serving Al Mizhar from Mirdif and Al Warqa use this year to decide tiers. A Core placement quietly closes the route to A Level in that subject two years before anybody discusses university, so Year 9 is the term to ask which tier your child is heading for and on what evidence.

Y10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

Year 10, the year with room

The only year of the examined course with genuine slack. Content gaps can be repaired properly, examination technique can be built as a habit rather than drilled in a panic, and the tier decision is still open. A weekly hour started here is worth considerably more than the same hour started in the spring of Year 11.

For Al Mizhar families this is also the year to settle the practical question of when a lesson can happen, because the bus routes from Mirdif, Al Warqa and Al Qusais run long. A slot that works through Year 10 will still work in Year 11; one improvised in Year 11 usually does not.

Y11Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Year 11, counted in weeks

The examination year, where every decision is a calendar decision. Entry deadlines fall months before the papers and fix both the tier and the series. Mocks arrive in the term before the live series and are the best diagnostic a family will get. From the mock onwards the work is almost entirely past papers, marked against the published scheme.

An Al Mizhar student in Year 11 is usually carrying eight or nine subjects plus Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies, which are mandatory in all Dubai private schools whatever the licensed curriculum. That is why the choice of which subject gets the tutoring hours has to be made deliberately rather than by whichever test came back worst.

RESITAges 16+

The November resit route

A second attempt in the November series for a student whose June result did not reach the grade a sixth form or a route required. The window is short and the work is entirely technique and targeted content, because the content was covered once already. Entry is made through a centre and the deadline sits well before the papers.

The practical trap locally is assuming a resit can be arranged at short notice. It cannot: the entry runs through a centre on the board's own deadline, and the student needs the window from the June result to the November papers planned rather than improvised. Ask the school's exams officer about centre entry as soon as a resit is being considered.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

When several subjects look weak, the calendar decides which gets the hours. These are the subjects Al Mizhar families ask about, with how quickly each responds to targeted work.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Pearson 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

Responds fastest of any subject to eight weeks of targeted work, because most losses are procedural: sign errors, method not shown, multi-step questions abandoned. Past-paper volume with the scheme open moves marks here more reliably than in any other subject on the timetable.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Two distinct jobs. Circuits is a conceptual topic needing teaching, which takes weeks. The practical or alternative-to-practical component is a written skill learned from past questions, which takes days. With eight weeks, do the second first.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Mole arithmetic is the whole game and it is pure repetition, so it fits an eight-week window well. Organic chemistry and the reactivity series reward memory, which also fits. Equilibrium reasoning does not compress neatly and is better addressed earlier in the course.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended

The volume tempts a thin pass over everything, which is exactly wrong late in the year. With eight weeks the productive work is extended-response technique on a smaller set of topics, using precise terminology, rather than another circuit of the textbook.

English as a First Language (Cambridge 0500 / 0990)

Extended

Directed writing responds well to a short window because the task types are finite and the marks go to answering the specific brief: the right form, the right audience, the right register. Reading comprehension technique also improves quickly with marked practice.

English as a Second Language (Cambridge 0510 / 0511)

Core and Extended

A different qualification from First Language with its own structure and a speaking component. The speaking element is the one most often left unrehearsed, and it is the easiest part of the subject to improve in a fortnight of practice.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

Core and Extended

Diagram accuracy and the evaluation marks at the end of structured questions are both finite, learnable and quick. A student who can draw a correctly labelled diagram with the shift in the right direction has secured marks no prose can replace.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

Core and Extended

Application to the case material rather than recall of theory is what the scheme rewards, and that is a habit rather than a body of content. Eight weeks of marked practice on applying every point to the stimulus is well spent.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478 / 0984)

Core and Extended

The theory paper's data-representation marks are mechanical and recoverable in days. The algorithm paper requires pseudocode in the board's own conventions, which students who code fluently in Python still lose marks on, and which is learnable quickly.

ICT (Cambridge 0417)

Core and Extended

Practical papers on specific software tasks under timed conditions. The gap is procedural speed rather than understanding, which makes it one of the best fits for a short intensive block: a student who has done each task six times finishes in time.

Arabic and the mandatory subjects

All tiers

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies run alongside IGCSE in every Dubai private school. Tutoring in them follows the school's own approved material, because KHDA states that using different or additional content without prior Ministry of Education permission is strictly prohibited.

Examination technique across all subjects

Core and Extended

Reading the mark allocation, showing method so partial credit survives, answering the command term and abandoning a question rather than sinking ten minutes in it. The single best use of a short window, because it lifts marks in every subject at once.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes of IGCSE support, chosen by how many weeks remain, all delivered as live one-to-one video lessons in Gulf Standard Time.

Eight-week intensive to a named date

Two or three sessions a week for eight weeks, aimed at one paper and finishing on the day of that paper. Built entirely from past questions in the student's own syllabus code, marked against the published scheme, with the repeating error named and then tested. This is the shape for a mock that came back two bands low, and it has an end date written into it from the start.

  • Plan written backwards from the actual paper date
  • One paper or one component, not a whole subject
  • Past questions marked against the published scheme
  • Stops on the exam date with no rolling commitment

Weekly across Year 10 and into Year 11

One sixty-minute lesson a week, started early enough that content can be repaired rather than patched. Across the two years that is seventy or more sessions, and it is the only shape that reliably changes a grade rather than rescuing one, because the tutor sees a pattern over months instead of a crisis in a fortnight.

  • Follows the school's own scheme of work and assessment dates
  • Same tutor and slot each week, set from the arrival home
  • Technique built as a habit rather than drilled in a panic
  • Reviewed at six lessons against marks

Three-week triage before a paper

What is honestly possible when there is almost no time. Not content, but technique and triage: reading mark allocations, showing method so partial credit survives, answering the command term, abandoning a question rather than sinking ten minutes in it, and deciding which topics to abandon entirely. It lifts marks modestly and reliably, and we say which it is.

  • Technique and triage only; no pretence of content coverage
  • Decides explicitly what to stop revising
  • Marks gained are modest and real
  • Honest about what three weeks cannot do

Where you are in the year, and what that changes

The same request means different things in September and in March. A parent asking for help in the autumn of Year 10 can buy content repair, technique habits and a tier conversation that is still open. A parent asking in the spring of Year 11 can buy past-paper work and triage. Both are legitimate purchases; buying the first in the second window is the mistake.

The table sets out what each part of the year can realistically deliver. Read it with the actual date in mind rather than the vague sense of there being time, because the gap between those two is where families lose terms. By the mock window, support in the weakest paper should already be running, not being arranged.

One point applies at every stage. The subject to fund is the one the marked papers identify, not the one that feels hardest, and in a tight window it is usually the one closest to a grade boundary. An hour spent on a subject sitting a mark or two below a boundary buys more than the same hour spent on a subject that is comfortably failing and would need a term.

Get the entry details before any of this. The statement of entry names the board, the syllabus code, the tier and the series for every subject, and most parents have never opened it. Your school's exams officer will send a copy, and it turns a vague plan into a dated one.

02

The eight-week plan, written backwards from the paper

Eight weeks is the shortest window that reliably moves a grade, and it works only when it is planned backwards. Start from the paper date, mark the final week as consolidation rather than new work, and fill the remaining seven with specific question types rather than topics. A plan that lists topics is a revision timetable; a plan that lists question types is a tutoring brief.

The structure below is what we actually use. Weeks one and two diagnose and attack the single biggest loss. Weeks three to five work through the next two or three recurring errors, each tested immediately on a second question of the same type. Weeks six and seven run full timed papers. Week eight consolidates, rehearses the mechanics of the day, and does no new content at all.

Two things make or break it in Al Mizhar specifically. The first is the slot: three sessions a week during an examination term has to sit at an hour the student can actually use after an hour-long bus route, which usually means later than a parent would like or a weekend morning. The second is the practice between sessions, which should be short, named specifically in the written note, and placed on evenings that are genuinely free.

Be realistic about what eight weeks cannot do. It cannot cover two years of missing content, it cannot repair three subjects at once, and it cannot change a tier. What it does reliably is convert understanding the student already has into marks they were not collecting, which in most cases is where a disappointing mock grade actually came from.

03

June or November, and the deadline that sits months earlier

The date that catches families out is the entry rather than the exam. A school submits entries months ahead of the first paper, and the submission fixes both the tier and the series. A family discovering in February that their child is entered at the wrong tier has discovered it too late for that series.

UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series. Cambridge runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in those two series, with Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February and March series is offered to India only, which is worth repeating because plans built around a March window have reached UAE parents elsewhere and a date a family acts on being wrong for their country is a real cost. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, states it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone, and warns that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Ask which zone your centre sits in.

Pearson's published record gives the checkable shape. The Pearson Edexcel International GCSE November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those are past dates, which is why they are safe to plan against as a pattern. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so open the live official timetable rather than relying on any restated date, this page included.

For a resit the practical point is lead time. Entry runs through a centre on the board's own deadline, so a November attempt decided in September may already be outside the window. If a resit is even possible, raise it with the exams officer in the week the June result arrives rather than in the month after.

A home tutor or an online one, with a deadline in the way

The home-tutoring comparison changes when the calendar is tight, and not in the direction most families expect. Availability is the first problem. In the weeks before a series every local tutor's evening slots are taken, and the subset of them willing to drive out past Mirdif for a single hour is smaller again. A family deciding in week eight does not have the luxury of waiting for the right person to have a free Tuesday.

Reliability is the second. An in-home arrangement during an examination term depends on a car crossing Algeria Street or the Garhoud interchange between four and six in the afternoon, three times a week in an intensive plan. Over eight weeks that is twenty-four journeys, and the sessions that are lost or shortened come out of a window that cannot be extended.

Cost is third rather than first. In-home one-to-one is quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour, with Bestimate's Dubai table at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors at AED 200 to 500, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. Over twenty-four sessions that difference is substantial, and it buys travel rather than teaching.

IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE, so the table compares market options with our own model named among them. There are genuine advantages to physical presence, particularly for a younger or very restless student, and a page that hid them would not be worth reading. For a Year 11 student eight weeks from a paper, working through past questions with a mark scheme on a shared screen, they rarely decide it.

Which subject gets the weeks when three look weak

  • Fund the subject nearest a grade boundary first
  • A grade that blocks a post-16 route outranks a grade that is merely untidy
  • Identical loss patterns across subjects means buy technique, not a subject
  • Alternate full hours rather than splitting one hour between two subjects

A Year 11 student in this corridor is carrying eight or nine subjects plus Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies, which are mandatory in every Dubai private school whatever curriculum it is licensed for. When three subjects look weak and there is one hour a week, a choice has to be made, and made deliberately rather than by whichever test came back worst.

Three rules handle most cases. First, fund the subject closest to a grade boundary, because an hour buys the most marks a mark or two below a threshold. Second, fund the subject that blocks a post-16 route ahead of one that merely looks untidy, since the consequences of the two grades are not the same. Third, where the losses look identical across subjects, fund technique rather than a subject, because command-term discipline and showing method lift marks in every paper at once.

What not to do is split the hour. Thirty minutes each in two subjects achieves the arrival and departure and very little else, and over eight weeks produces no visible movement in either. If two subjects genuinely need the work and the budget allows one weekly hour, alternate full hours rather than halving them, and accept that it is a compromise.

Mathematics deserves a note because it responds faster than anything else to a short targeted window. Most losses there are procedural rather than conceptual, and procedural losses are exactly what eight weeks of past-paper work with the scheme open repairs. If maths is one of the three weak subjects and sits near a boundary, it is usually the right answer.

06

Ramadan, holidays and the weeks that are not full weeks

  • Write Ramadan and school breaks into the plan before week one, not during week four
  • Post-iftar slots work during Ramadan and cost nothing to arrange
  • A holiday week inside an eight-week window is an asset, not dead time
  • Lessons follow the student if the slot moves; no address is involved

An eight-week plan that lands across Ramadan or a school break is not an eight-week plan unless it has been written that way. In a calendar-driven purchase this is the most common avoidable loss, and it is entirely predictable in advance.

During Ramadan school days are shortened and household routines move towards the evening. A 5.30pm slot that works in October is usually the wrong one then, and a post-iftar session is usually right. Because no tutor is travelling anywhere, moving the slot costs a message rather than a renegotiation. Families who agree the shift before Ramadan begins keep their continuity; families who improvise lose three or four weeks from a window that has none to spare.

School breaks cut the other way and can be an advantage. A holiday week with no homework competing is the best possible place for three or four concentrated sessions on a single paper, and it is worth planning deliberately rather than treating as dead time. For a Year 11 student eight weeks out, a break in the middle of the window can be the most productive part of it.

Travel is a standing feature in these villa communities. Online lessons follow a student to another time zone if the slot is adjusted, which no arrangement tied to an address can do. Send the dates in advance so the plan is redrawn rather than interrupted, and resist letting a trip become a four-week gap in a window that is only eight weeks long.

07

What a tutor may and may not do, especially under deadline pressure

  • The boundary does not relax because a deadline is close
  • Feedback arrives as questions your child answers, never as text to paste
  • No past papers, mark schemes or syllabus documents are supplied by us
  • An offer to produce assessed work should end the conversation

Deadline pressure is exactly when the honesty line gets tested, which is why it belongs on a calendar-led page rather than in a footnote. A student three weeks from a deadline with an unfinished piece of coursework is the situation in which somebody offers to help in a way that is not help.

The boundary does not move with the calendar. A tutor may teach the method, work a comparable example, question the student about their own attempt and point out where the reasoning does not hold. A tutor may not write, complete, redo or edit to completion any piece of work the student submits. The practical test requires no subject knowledge: feedback as questions your child must go and answer is correct, feedback as sentences they could copy in is not.

It is worth knowing what is on sale nearby. One page in the researched competitor set advertises completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price. That is an academic-integrity breach and an examination malpractice trigger, and the student carries the consequence through appeals, applications and sometimes a whole qualification while the seller carries none of it. Any offer of that kind should end a conversation rather than open a negotiation.

We also decline to reproduce or supply board material. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to Cambridge and Pearson and reach you through them or through the school. In a tight window that matters practically as well as legally, because official material is current while a file circulating in a parent group may be from a superseded specification and will waste weeks you do not have.

08

Starting this week, and what we will say about availability

Send four things: the syllabus code and tier from the statement of entry, the series your child is entered for, a photograph of the marked mock, and the time your child is realistically through the door on a bad traffic afternoon. With those, a plan can be written backwards from the paper date in a single conversation.

The free trial lesson runs about forty minutes on a past question from your child's own code, with your child working and the tutor teaching. Afterwards you receive a written read on the biggest recurring loss and how many weeks it implies, which is also the honest answer to whether the window you have is long enough. Nothing is owed if you stop there.

Availability is tightest exactly when demand is highest, which is the weeks after mocks. Late-afternoon and early-evening Gulf Standard Time slots fill first, weekend mornings fill next, and a resit specialist in an unusual subject at a fortnight's notice may genuinely not exist. We give a realistic match time rather than filling the hour with a generalist, because a tutor who does not know the code costs the fee and then the weeks, and in an eight-week window the weeks are all there is.

What we ask for is limited to what matching needs: board, code, tier, series, school if you want its sequence followed, and a contact for scheduling. We do not need a photograph of your child or a full grade history across every subject. UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 governs the data we hold, and the privacy link on this page sets out what is kept and how to have it removed.

Where we tutor

Al Mizhar, the school run, and how quickly a tutor can start

Two things matter in the geography here when the calendar is tight: how late your child gets home, and how far a tutor would have to drive. These are the districts involved.

Mirdif

The immediate neighbour and where most Al Mizhar secondary students attend school. It is also where an in-home tutor would be driving from, which is why availability in the weeks before a series is thin and rates carry a travel premium.

Al Khawaneej

Further east, with the longest journeys in this cluster. Students arrive home late enough that in a tight eight-week window a weekend morning is often the only slot that reliably delivers a full session.

Al Warqa

South-west, with large cohorts and long collecting routes. Many Al Mizhar students attend school in this direction, which puts a realistic weekday lesson at 6.30pm or later during the examination term.

Al Rashidiya

West towards the airport, a compact district with no school of its own whose students use the same Mirdif-direction schools. Timetables, traffic and therefore workable slots are effectively identical to Al Mizhar's.

Al Qusais

North-west across Damascus Street, with several of the largest secondary cohorts in Dubai. Afternoon traffic rather than distance decides the arrival time, and it is least predictable in the weeks when mocks are running.

Nad Al Hamar

South-west on quieter roads, the fastest direction out of the corridor. Relevant mainly where a younger sibling attends school there and the household is managing two different arrival times in the same term.

Dubai Silicon Oasis

South along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, with secondary provision drawing from across the eastern suburbs and a journey that lengthens considerably at the end of the school day.

Dubai Festival City

West through the Garhoud interchange, the least predictable junction in the eastern city during the afternoon window and a standing risk to any arrangement that depends on somebody driving.

International City

South along Emirates Road, a large catchment feeding schools across the corridor and adding to the traffic that makes an in-home arrangement hard to hold in an examination term.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Mizhar

Al Mizhar and Mirdif

The nearest cluster, mixing IB continuum, British and American curriculum schools whose catchments are drawn from these villa communities. Because the schools sit in Mirdif rather than inside Al Mizhar, almost every secondary student travels, and that journey is what sets the realistic lesson slot during an examination term. Students we support attend schools across this cluster.

  • Al Mizhar American Academy
  • Uptown International School
  • Star International School Mirdif
  • GEMS Royal Dubai School
  • The Sheffield Private School

Al Warqa, Al Qusais and the longer runs

The second direction, with the largest cohorts and the longest bus routes in this part of Dubai. Journeys can take the better part of an hour each way, which during a mock or examination term is the single biggest constraint on when work can happen at all. Students we support attend schools in this group.

  • The Indian Academy
  • The Millennium School, Dubai Silicon Oasis

The statement of entry names the board, the syllabus code, the tier and the series. UAE candidates sit June and November. Then open the live official timetable from the board's own site, because every decision that follows is a decision about weeks.

  2. 02

    Count the weeks honestly

From today to the paper, minus Ramadan and any school break, minus the family trip already booked. The number that comes out decides whether you are buying content repair, an eight-week intensive, or three weeks of technique and triage.

  3. 03

    Send the marked mock

A photograph of the marked paper is the diagnosis. It shows the repeating error in two minutes: method not shown, command term unanswered, multi-step questions abandoned, or a genuine topic gap worth naming.

  4. 04

    Choose one subject, deliberately

The one nearest a grade boundary, or the one blocking a post-16 route. If the loss pattern is identical across subjects, buy technique instead, because it lifts marks in all of them. Do not split a single hour between two subjects.

  5. 05

Set a slot the examination term can hold

Al Mizhar students on Mirdif, Al Warqa or Al Qusais routes arrive home late. Pick the hour that works on the worst afternoon, or a weekend morning, and hold it like a school commitment for the length of the window.

  6. 06

Take the free trial, then review weekly

Forty minutes on a past question from the right code. In an eight-week plan the review is weekly rather than at six lessons, because there is no time to discover in week six that the approach was wrong.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Plans are written backwards from the paper

Not forwards from today. The final week is consolidation with no new content, the two before it are full timed papers, and the earlier weeks each attack one named error. A plan that lists topics is a revision timetable; a plan that lists question types is a tutoring brief.

We say what the window cannot do

Three weeks buys technique and triage, not content. Eight weeks converts understanding into marks the student was not collecting. Two years of missing content does not compress into either, and telling you so is more useful than selling you the hope.

The right series, every time

UAE candidates sit June and November. The Cambridge February and March series is offered to India only, and plans built around a March window have reached UAE parents elsewhere. We also point you at your centre's administrative zone, because Cambridge warns that the wrong zone timetable is the family's risk.

No travel, so no lost sessions

An intensive plan is twenty-four journeys for an in-home tutor, through Algeria Street at four in the afternoon. Online lessons lose none of them. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India.

Every AED figure is attributed

Each rate on this page was read on the provider's own public page and credited to them, and none is an IB Gram price. Three of the best-ranking pages on these searches publish no price at all, and a checkable number is worth more than a promise.

The honesty line holds under deadline pressure

A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on your child's own work, and writes none of it, whatever the date. One page in this search result sells completed Internal Assessments, and it is the student who carries that finding.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Mizhar: your questions answered

My child's mock came back badly and the paper is eight weeks away. Is that enough time?+

Usually yes, if the eight weeks are targeted. A mock two bands below target normally hides two or three repeating errors rather than a general absence of knowledge, and those convert into marks quickly. The plan is written backwards from the paper: diagnose in week one, attack the biggest loss in weeks one and two, work through the next errors in weeks three to five, run full timed papers in weeks six and seven, and consolidate in week eight with no new content. What eight weeks cannot do is cover two years of missing content.

We have three weeks. What is honestly possible?+

Technique and triage, and we would rather say that than take the money on a different promise. In three weeks a student can learn to read mark allocations, show method so partial credit survives a wrong answer, answer the command term that was used, and abandon a question rather than sinking ten minutes into it. They can also decide, explicitly, which topics to stop revising. Those gains are modest and real. Anybody offering substantial content coverage in three weeks is selling rather than teaching.

Which exam series is my child sitting, and how do I check?+

The statement of entry names it, along with the board, the syllabus code and the tier, and your school's exams officer will send a copy. UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series. The Cambridge February and March series is offered to India only, so ignore any plan built around a March window. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who use the wrong zone's timetable, so ask which zone your centre is in.

Can we arrange a November resit after a disappointing June result?+

Sometimes, and the deciding factor is lead time rather than willingness. Entry runs through a centre on the board's own deadline, which sits well before the papers, so a resit decided in September may already be outside the window. Raise it with the school's exams officer in the week the result arrives, not the month after. Where a resit is viable, the work is almost entirely technique and targeted content, because the syllabus was covered once already and the gap is in converting it to marks.

Would an in-home tutor be quicker to start than an online one?+

Almost always slower, which surprises people. In the weeks after mocks every local tutor's evening slots are taken, and the subset willing to drive out past Mirdif for a single hour is smaller again, so a family deciding in week eight may be waiting until week eleven. An online specialist in the right syllabus code can usually start within days. Published rates are AED 180 to 500 an hour in-home against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified tutor online, and IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE.

How many sessions a week does an intensive plan need?+

Two or three, for eight weeks, with short named practice between them. Two is enough when the diagnosis is narrow, such as a single question type in mathematics. Three is justified when there are two or three distinct recurring errors to work through and full timed papers to fit in during weeks six and seven. More than three a week rarely helps, because the student also has eight other subjects, school homework and the mandatory UAE subjects on the same timetable.

Three subjects look weak and we can afford one. Which do we choose?+

The one nearest a grade boundary, because an hour buys the most marks a mark or two below a threshold. If one of the three blocks a post-16 route, that outranks a grade that is merely untidy, since the consequences differ. And if the loss pattern looks the same across all three, buy technique rather than a subject: command-term discipline and showing method lift marks in every paper at once. What not to do is split the hour, which achieves the arrival and departure and little else.

Which subject responds fastest to a short window?+

Mathematics, by a clear margin. Most losses there are procedural rather than conceptual, which is exactly what eight weeks of past-paper work with the mark scheme open repairs: sign errors, method not written down, multi-step questions abandoned too early. ICT is next, because its practical papers are a procedural speed problem and a student who has done each task six times finishes in time. Biology responds least well late, because its volume tempts a thin pass over everything, which is the wrong work in week six.

What happens to the plan if Ramadan falls inside our eight weeks?+

It gets written in from week one rather than discovered in week four. School days are shortened during Ramadan and household routines move towards the evening, so the usual slot shifts to after iftar; because no tutor is travelling anywhere, moving it costs a message. Families who plan the shift in advance keep their continuity through it. Families who improvise typically lose three or four weeks, which in an eight-week window is half of what they bought and cannot be recovered later.

Is a school holiday week wasted time in a revision window?+

The opposite, if it is used deliberately. A week with no homework competing is the best place in an eight-week window for three or four concentrated sessions on a single paper, and for Year 11 students it is frequently the most productive stretch of the whole plan. What wastes it is leaving a weekly slot limping along while the family is travelling. Decide before the break whether it is a block or a pause, and either is fine as long as it was chosen.

What should a weekly note from the tutor tell us during an intensive?+

The question type attempted, the specific error found, and whether the same error survived a second question of the same type. In an eight-week plan it should also say what has been removed from the revision list, because triage is part of the work. What it should not say is that progress is good, which tells a parent nothing checkable. If the notes are vague for two consecutive weeks, that is the signal to change the approach rather than to wait.

Can a tutor finish my child's coursework if the deadline is this week?+

No, and the boundary does not relax because the date is close. A tutor may teach the method, work a comparable example, question your child about their own attempt and point out where the reasoning does not hold. A tutor may not write, complete, redo or edit to completion any work your child submits. One page in this search result sells completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price; that is an examination malpractice trigger and the student carries it through appeals and applications while the seller carries nothing.

Where do we get past papers for the right syllabus?+

From the board or through the school, not from us. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to Cambridge and Pearson and are not ours to reproduce or distribute. In a tight window this matters practically as well as legally: official material is current, while a folder circulating in a school parent group is frequently from a superseded specification and will send your child to question styles that no longer appear, which is a weekend you cannot get back.

What time can an intensive session run if our bus gets in at half past four?+

Realistically 6.30pm or later on a weekday, and weekend mornings for two of the three weekly sessions if you can get them. Al Mizhar students on Al Warqa and Al Qusais routes arrive home late and flat, and an intensive plan that assumes a 5pm start loses the first ten minutes of every session to the student arriving in the room rather than in the lesson. Over twenty-four sessions that is several hours of a window that cannot be extended.

What do you need from us to write the plan?+

Four things. The syllabus code and tier from the statement of entry. The series your child is entered for, with the live official timetable open. A photograph of the marked mock, which is the diagnosis. And the time your child is realistically through the door on a bad traffic afternoon. From those, a plan written backwards from the paper date takes one conversation. We do not need a photograph of your child or a full grade history; the privacy link explains what is held.

Start from the paper date and work back

For an Al Mizhar family the useful sequence is always the same. Find the series and the real paper date from the statement of entry and the board's live timetable. Subtract Ramadan, the school break and the trip you have already booked, and see what the number actually is. Then buy for that number: content repair if you have a year, an eight-week intensive on one paper if you have two months, technique and triage if you have three weeks. Send us the code, the series, the marked mock and the time your child gets home, and take the free trial lesson. You will leave it with the biggest recurring loss named and an honest answer about whether the window is long enough.
