IB Tutor near me in Tilal Al Ghaf

Searching for an IB tutor near me in Tilal Al Ghaf is usually a question about timing disguised as a question about distance. The community has its own school provision, so pupils are home early and the constraint is not the drive — it is which weeks of the Diploma calendar are left. This page is organised around that clock. IB Gram teaches one-to-one, live over video at Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Tilal Al Ghaf

The scarce thing is not a tutor, it is a Tuesday

Parents in Tilal Al Ghaf who search for an IB tutor near me are usually several weeks into a worry and looking for someone who can start quickly. The instinct behind the search is sound, and the filter is the wrong one. In this community the drive is not the problem: there is a school inside the boundary, DAMAC Hills and Dubai Sports City have their own provision next door, and a pupil here is frequently home before four. The binding constraint is the calendar — how many usable weeks remain before the next fixed date, and which evenings in those weeks are actually free.

That matters because the Diploma does not reward effort applied at an arbitrary moment. It is a two-year sequence with marks banked at intervals, and the intervals are set by your child's school rather than by the IB. By the final term a substantial share of each subject grade has already been submitted through internal assessment, and the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge have passed their internal deadlines entirely. Tutoring that begins then is working on a smaller surface than tutoring that began a year earlier, with the same tutor and the same effort.

So this page treats the search as a scheduling problem and answers it that way. It sets out the Diploma calendar as a planning frame, counts the core components backwards from their word limits and submission points, explains how Ramadan and the Dubai school year reshape the usable week, and puts a number on what each month of delay costs in practice. It also gives the market rates in dirhams with their sources, because three of the six pages ranking for this type of search publish no price at all.

The part of the proximity instinct that is genuinely rational is worth naming. Parents want someone identifiable, someone who will not be swapped for a different tutor next week, and someone who will still be there in eight weeks when the mock arrives. Those are the right concerns. Distance is simply a poor proxy for them, and a named tutor, a written note after every session and a free first lesson in which you watch the teaching happen deliver them directly.

The core components deserve their own mention, because they are where the clock runs fastest and where no competitor page in this market offers any detail. The Extended Essay has a 4,000-word maximum, the Theory of Knowledge essay a 1,600-word maximum, and CAS a minimum duration of eighteen months. Those are not revision targets. They are projects with internal deadlines a year before the exams, and a student who has not started them in the first Diploma year is already behind on a quarter of what the Diploma asks of them.

IB Gram delivers tuition to Tilal Al Ghaf as live one-to-one lessons over video, scheduled to Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. In a community where the pupil's own commute is short, the only long journey in an in-home arrangement would be the tutor's, and removing it is what allows the early slot this page keeps recommending.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Tilal Al Ghaf families meet the IB at different stages and the calendar pressure differs sharply between them. These are the four, with the clock that applies to each.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led, with no external examination and no session to count backwards from. The only deadline that matters is the Grade 5 Exhibition, and the only useful target is a baseline: reading fluency, number sense and written stamina that the Middle Years Programme will assume from the first week of Year 7.

In Dubai, PYP pupils also carry Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies on the timetable regardless of the licensed curriculum. For a Tilal Al Ghaf family that means a Year 5 week is fuller than the programme description suggests, and Arabic is where non-Arab pupils most often need help first.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Marks accumulate across the year from assessed tasks rather than resting on a paper, so the calendar is a reporting calendar. A weak criterion identified in an autumn report is still inside the final grade in summer unless something changes, which means there is more time to act than in an examined course and less reason to wait.

MYP5 adds the Personal Project, which competes with subject deadlines for the same evenings and is the commonest reason several grades dip at once in a Dubai school. Ask the school for the project timeline alongside the report, because the two have to be planned together.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects at two levels plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. Each subject has an internally assessed component submitted months before the examinations, and the core components have their own internal deadlines a year ahead. The calendar, not the content, is what makes the Diploma hard to recover.

UAE schools overwhelmingly enter candidates for the May session. No IB exam or results dates appear on this page, because ibo.org blocks automated verification and publishing an unverified date that a parent will act on is worse than publishing none. Confirm every one with the school's Diploma coordinator.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Diploma courses combined with a career-related study, a reflective project and a personal and professional skills course. The Diploma courses inside it are assessed identically, internal assessment included, so the same calendar logic applies and the reflective project adds a further deadline of its own.

Offered at a small number of UAE schools. The question families usually need settled is what the Ministry of Education recognises for a UAE university application, and the IB figures should be read on the Ministry's own channel rather than taken from any tutoring page, this one included.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IB subjects Tilal Al Ghaf families ask for, with the component that carries the earliest deadline in each. The deadline, not the difficulty, is usually what should decide which subject gets the first session.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The exploration is a fifth of the grade and needs a viable topic chosen in the first Diploma year. Paper 1 is sat without a calculator, which only shows up as a problem when practice is done with the device removed from the desk.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Same exploration weighting and the same early deadline. Higher Level Paper 3 is extended problem solving that cannot be built from short questions, so it needs whole-paper practice booked into the calendar rather than squeezed in.

Physics

HL and SL

The scientific investigation is marked out of twenty-four and its research design is fixed before any data exists. That makes the design conversation the earliest-deadline item in the subject, well ahead of any paper technique.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Content is strongly sequential, so a first-term gap in the quantitative work reappears in energetics, kinetics and equilibrium. The calendar consequence is that chemistry punishes a late start harder than the other sciences do.

Biology

HL and SL

Heavy content load with command-term precision deciding the grade. The investigation struggles most often on controlled-variable justification, which is again a design decision taken before the data rather than a writing problem afterwards.

Economics

HL and SL

Three commentaries on published articles, each tied to a different syllabus unit, spread across the two years. That gives three separate deadlines rather than one, which is why Economics families should ask for the schedule in the first term.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The Individual Oral is internally assessed and requires a global issue anchored in two specific texts. Choosing it too broadly is the standard error, and it is a decision with a date attached rather than a skill to be revised.

History

HL and SL

A 2,200-word historical investigation with a formal source-evaluation section, plus a Higher Level regional option in Paper 3. The investigation's deadline usually falls in the first half of the second year, alongside the mock series.

Business Management

HL and SL

The Higher Level research project needs a real business issue and evidence a student can actually gather, which means access has to be arranged early. A project chosen late is usually a project with no usable primary evidence.

The Extended Essay

Core, all Diploma students

A 4,000-word maximum independent research essay with supervised reflection sessions. Its internal deadlines sit roughly a year before the examinations, which makes it the single earliest major deadline in the Diploma.

Theory of Knowledge

Core, all Diploma students

An exhibition and a prescribed-title essay with a 1,600-word maximum, assessed on the quality of knowledge-question analysis rather than content. Students struggle because there is nothing to revise; what helps is structured argument practice.

Arabic

Language A and B, plus mandated strands

Compulsory in Dubai private schools alongside the licensed curriculum, with KHDA requiring separate classes for Arab and non-Arab pupils. It occupies timetable hours that a Diploma plan has to account for rather than ignore.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Tilal Al Ghaf families run IB tuition with us, all live one-to-one over video on Gulf Standard Time. Each is chosen by where your child sits in the calendar rather than by preference.

An early weekday slot, held weekly

The arrangement this community makes possible and most of the Dubailand belt does not. A four-thirty or five o'clock start catches a student who has not yet done three hours of homework, which is worth more than any change to the lesson plan. Held weekly, it means a gap is caught in the week it opens.

  • Four-thirty starts are realistic here, not aspirational
  • Same tutor weekly, so no restart cost each session
  • Planned against the school's own deadline calendar
  • Written note the same evening after each lesson

A core-components block in the first Diploma year

Aimed at the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge while their deadlines are still ahead. The work is research-question viability, structure, and argument discipline against the actual assessment instruments. The student writes every word; the tutor says what is not yet working and why.

  • Research question tested for viability before drafting
  • Argument structure taught against the real criteria
  • Word limits treated as a design constraint, not a target
  • Nothing written by the tutor at any stage

A compressed block when the weeks are few

Two or three sessions a week aimed at a named paper. The work is diagnostic first — a timed paper marked against the published scheme — then topic repair ordered by where the marks went, then technique. It will not cover a two-year syllabus and it is not sold as though it will.

  • Starts with one timed paper, marked before teaching
  • Topic order set by the mark distribution
  • Two to three sessions a week with set work between
  • Honest scope stated in the first session, not the fourth

Holiday and Ramadan-adjusted blocks

Dubai school breaks allow four or five sessions a week, and the summer between the Diploma years is the last uncongested block in the programme. During Ramadan sessions move to the earlier afternoon or a post-Iftar slot and shorten rather than stop, because continuity matters more than duration.

  • Four to five sessions a week in school breaks
  • The Diploma summer is the highest-value window
  • Post-Iftar scheduling available through Ramadan
  • Shorter sessions in preference to skipped weeks

01

What a proximity search actually solves here

Type the phrase and three kinds of result appear. Agencies serving all of Dubai that will quote a rate including a drive to your gate. Marketplaces listing independent tutors by self-declared area, where 'Dubailand' can mean anywhere across a wide arc. And online providers, including this one, that do not use distance as a filter at all. The first two look local and the third admits that it is not.

In Tilal Al Ghaf the honest assessment is that proximity solves a problem the community has already solved. Because there is a school inside the boundary and others immediately beside it, a pupil here is frequently home before four, which is the earliest arrival in this part of Dubailand. The hour that an in-home tutor's travel would consume is therefore the hour that makes an early session possible, and it is the only long journey in the arrangement.

What a local in-person tutor genuinely provides is an adult physically in the room. For a young or distractible child that is the intervention rather than the delivery method, and it is a real service. We do not offer it anywhere in the UAE, because home visits are a service we run only in India, so if that is what your child needs this page should send you elsewhere rather than argue you into a screen.

For Diploma subject work the ranking is different. The variables that predict whether tutoring moves a grade are whether the tutor knows the specification, whether they can read a mark scheme, whether they turn up every week, and whether the work starts early enough to reach the components still in play. Distance predicts none of those, and filtering by it reduces the pool you are choosing from for no gain.

02

The Diploma as a scheduling problem, term by term

Here is the calendar as a planning frame rather than as a set of dates. No IB exam or results date appears on this page: ibo.org blocks automated verification, and an unverified date that a parent acts on is worse than none. The school-side milestones are the ones a tutor plans against anyway, and your child's Diploma coordinator can supply them in a single email.

The structure worth understanding is that the Diploma front-loads its deadlines. The Extended Essay's internal deadlines sit roughly a year before the examinations. Theory of Knowledge has an exhibition and an essay, both internally deadlined. Every subject has an internally assessed component submitted months ahead. By the time a student reaches study leave, the only thing still movable is the written papers, and a family that starts tutoring at that point has chosen, without being told, to work on the smaller half.

That has a specific consequence for the slot question. In the first Diploma year a single weekly session is usually enough, because it is doing preventative work on components that are still open. In the final two terms two sessions a week is often necessary, because the same amount of improvement has to be extracted from a narrower surface in less time. The cost difference is not proportional to the delay; it is worse than proportional.

Use the table by writing your child's own school deadlines into the right-hand column. Then count the weeks to the nearest one. That count, not a general level of concern, should decide whether the first session is on a subject, on the Extended Essay, or on Theory of Knowledge — and whether one evening a week will do.

03

The core counted backwards: Extended Essay, TOK and CAS

No competitor page in this market gives a Dubai parent any detail about the core, which is remarkable, because it is where the Diploma most often goes wrong and where the deadlines arrive first. The Extended Essay is an independent research essay with a 4,000-word maximum, supported by supervised reflection sessions. The Theory of Knowledge course is assessed through an exhibition and a prescribed-title essay with a 1,600-word maximum. CAS runs for a minimum of eighteen months. Confirm the current requirements with your child's coordinator, since the IB revises its guides.

Read those three facts as a calendar rather than as a specification. An eighteen-month minimum for CAS means it starts at the beginning of the first Diploma year, not when a student feels ready. A 4,000-word research essay with supervised reflection sessions means a question has to exist early enough to be researched, which in most Dubai schools puts the question deadline in the second or third term of the first year. A 1,600-word essay on a prescribed title means the titles are released and then there is a finite window — short enough that students who have never practised the form are learning it under deadline.

The word limits are the most misunderstood part. A maximum is a design constraint, not a target, and the commonest Extended Essay failure is a question so broad that 4,000 words can only describe it. A narrower question that can actually be answered within the limit scores better than an ambitious one that cannot, and that is a decision made at the question stage rather than fixed in editing. The same applies to the TOK essay: 1,600 words will not sustain three knowledge questions, and students who try produce three shallow arguments instead of one developed one.

What a tutor legitimately does here is viability and structure. Testing whether a research question can be answered in the words available, teaching what the assessment instrument actually rewards, and giving feedback on the student's own drafts. What a tutor does not do is write any part of either essay, supply the question, or edit a draft into something the student did not produce. Where a draft is not working, the tutor names the problem and the student rewrites it.

Ramadan, holidays and the usable week in Dubai

  • School breaks are the only time four to five sessions a week is possible
  • The summer between the Diploma years is the highest-value block
  • Ramadan sessions shorten rather than stop; frequency is what matters
  • Post-Iftar and earlier-afternoon slots are both workable
  • An extra session before a deadline is easy online and hard in person

Two features of the Dubai academic year reshape a Diploma plan and both are better treated as planning facts than as interruptions. The first is the long school breaks. They are the only point at which four or five sessions a week is possible, and for cumulative subjects that is not simply more tutoring — it is the only realistic way to rebuild fluency rather than patch it, because fluency comes from volume rather than from being explained again.

The summer between the two Diploma years is the single most valuable block in the programme. Nothing is being banked, no deadlines are running, and a student can cover ground that term-time cannot touch. A family that uses it arrives in the second year with first-year content secure, the Extended Essay well advanced and internal assessment topics chosen. A family that does not carries first-year gaps into harder topics while three deadlines converge.

The second feature is Ramadan. School hours shorten and the usable part of the evening moves, so sessions shift to the earlier afternoon or to a post-Iftar slot. The adjustment that works is a shorter session at the same frequency rather than skipped weeks, because a fortnight's gap costs more in a sequential subject than two shortened sessions do. Where Ramadan falls close to a mock series or an internal deadline, plan the block before it begins rather than improvising week by week.

An online slot is considerably easier to move than a tutor's drive across Dubai, which is one of the quieter practical advantages of the format in this emirate. A post-Iftar session at nine in the evening is a reasonable request of a tutor on video and an unreasonable one of someone who would have to drive out to Tilal Al Ghaf and back afterwards. The same is true of a one-off extra session in the week before a deadline, which is exactly when a family most wants one.

05

What delay costs, month by month

This is the pricing section, organised around the thing the rest of the page has been arguing: that the month you start changes what the money buys. The market bands first, read in October 2026 from competitors' own published figures. EdFlik from AED 45 to AED 65 an hour, Tutopiya from AED 33 to AED 52, Unitors from AED 150 for IGCSE and AED 200 for IB, TutorChase at AED 270, BartyED at AED 650. Bestimate's Dubai table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to AED 350 and IB or IGCSE specialists at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with monthly estimates of AED 240 to AED 600 budget, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support.

Now the arithmetic that matters. A family starting in the first Diploma year typically runs one session a week, which at the mid band is roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month, and reaches every component including internal assessment and the Extended Essay. A family starting in the final two terms typically needs two sessions a week, roughly AED 1,200 to AED 2,400 a month, and reaches only the written papers because everything else has been submitted. The later start costs twice as much per month to access half as much of the grade.

That is the honest comparison and it rarely gets made, because the earlier conversation is harder to sell. In the first Diploma year nothing has gone wrong yet and a family is being asked to spend money on prevention. In the final term something has visibly gone wrong and the spending feels necessary. The incentive for a provider runs the wrong way, which is why this page states it plainly rather than waiting to be asked.

For context, KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for Dubai private schools for the 2026-27 academic year under the emirate's second economic incentives package, valued at AED 1.5 billion out of AED 2.5 billion in total. The fee line is flat and predictable; tutoring is the variable one. IB Gram publishes no hourly rate here, because the right figure depends on subject, level and weeks remaining, but the band above lets you judge any quote including ours, and the first lesson is free.

Availability: what happens when the slot you want is taken

Every tutoring page promises availability and almost none says what happens when the exact combination a family needs does not exist this week. For a Tilal Al Ghaf family wanting Chemistry Higher Level at five on a Wednesday, the honest answer is that the combination of subject, level and slot sometimes is not there, and what we do about it is worth stating in advance.

First, we tell you which part is the constraint, because the fixes differ. If the subject-level specialist exists but not in that slot, the usual answer is a different evening — and this community has more usable early evenings than most of Dubailand, so that is more often workable here than elsewhere. If the specialist does not exist in UAE hours at all, the fallback is a tutor in another time zone teaching at a Gulf Standard Time-compatible hour, and we say where they are based rather than concealing it behind a local-looking number.

Second, we will tell you when we are the wrong provider. A child who needs a formal special-educational-needs assessment needs a specialist service rather than a subject tutor. A pupil in early primary who cannot sustain attention on a screen is better served by someone physically present, and since we do not offer that in the UAE the right answer is to say so. Turning that family away costs a booking and saves them a term.

Third, the free first lesson exists for exactly this. One lesson, no payment, and the question afterwards is not whether the tutor was pleasant but whether they knew the course, found the real problem and set work the student understood. If the answer is no, you have lost an hour. If it is yes, the most important variable in tutoring is settled before any money moves, which is more than any published rate can tell you.

KHDA, the school report and the mandatory subjects

  • 227 private schools and 387,441 pupils in Dubai in 2024-25
  • The IB is 7% of enrolment; the UK curriculum 37%
  • A Diploma student here may be one of very few taking their HL subject
  • Mandatory-subject time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit
  • No tutoring company is KHDA-approved without a named permit

Dubai private schools are overseen by KHDA, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate, inspecting annually across six bands from Outstanding to Very Weak. The market is large: 387,441 pupils across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 different curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37% of enrolment, Indian at 26%, American at 14% and the International Baccalaureate at 7%.

That last figure explains something Tilal Al Ghaf families notice without naming it. The IB cohort is a minority of a very large market, and in a predominantly British-curriculum part of Dubailand a Diploma student may be one of only a handful at their school taking a particular Higher Level subject. Informal information — which topics matter, when deadlines actually bite, what a mock result means — is therefore harder to come by here than it would be at a large continuum school, and that is a genuine argument for a tutor who has seen the course many times.

The part of the regulatory picture that affects your week is the mandatory-subject requirement. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are compulsory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum. KHDA requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab pupils in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, prohibits combined classes because curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ, and calculates mandatory-subject time on a 40-minute lesson unit. So the school day carries load beyond six Diploma subjects, and a plan that ignores it over-estimates the usable evening.

One caution. IB Gram is not KHDA approved, ADEK approved, or licensed or accredited by the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and no provider should claim otherwise without showing a permit number. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific licence issued to training institutes operating premises in Dubai. We name KHDA because it governs your child's school and publishes the inspection report you should read, and the useful part of that report is the subject-level commentary rather than the headline band.

08

Honesty, permits and what we will not do

This search result includes operations selling completed internal assessments and Extended Essays at published prices. That is not tutoring, submitting bought work is academic misconduct, and the consequence falls on the student rather than the seller. Because Dubai families are approached by such providers through the same channels as legitimate ones, the boundary belongs on the page before anyone asks.

A tutor may teach the content a piece of coursework rests on, explain what each criterion rewards and what its descriptors mean, test whether a research question can be answered in the words available, read the student's own draft and give feedback, and teach referencing properly. A tutor may not write any part of the work, supply a question or topic to be adopted wholesale, edit a draft into something the student did not produce, or provide data the student did not collect. Where a draft needs changing, the tutor names the problem and the student makes the change.

There is a self-interested version of the same argument, which is more persuasive to a seventeen-year-old. The core components reward the student's own thinking explicitly: the Extended Essay's reflection sessions, the TOK essay's development of a knowledge question, CAS's documented reflection. Work produced by somebody else reads exactly as such, and the criteria that reward engagement collapse first. The students who score well chose a question they could answer, early, and then did the weeks of small steps.

On regulation: private tutoring in the UAE requires the MoHRE private tutor work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years to teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Those operating without it are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published — Khaleej Times reported the ministry did not specify the amounts — so distrust any page printing a figure, and ask any tutor to show you the permit rather than describe it.

Where we tutor

Tilal Al Ghaf and the communities around it

These are the communities a proximity search returns for a Tilal Al Ghaf address. What differs between them is how early a session can start, which in a calendar-led plan is the variable that actually counts.

Tilal Al Ghaf

Villas and townhouses around Lagoon Al Ghaf with a British-curriculum school inside the boundary. Pupils are often home before four, which makes a four-thirty start realistic and gives the longest usable evening in this belt.

DAMAC Hills

Immediate neighbour with its own school provision, so the same early-evening advantage applies. Pupils move between the two communities and the school clusters overlap almost entirely.

Dubai Sports City

Schools inside the community, but training commitments consume the early evening that the short commute creates. Families here more often book holiday blocks than protect a term-time weekday slot.

Mudon

Schooling spread across the Dubailand periphery with shared transport, so arrival times vary by up to half an hour day to day. A fixed online slot absorbs that; a tutor waiting at a gate does not.

Remraam

Apartment-led, with pupils travelling out to Dubailand schools and a correspondingly later realistic start. Diploma students here are often the only candidate in their year taking a particular Higher Level subject.

Arabian Ranches 3

Newer phases a short drive north where most secondary pupils travel out, pushing the realistic start past five. A high proportion changed school recently, which makes diagnosis the first task.

Town Square

A younger demographic with most pupils in primary or lower secondary, so Middle Years criterion work and Arabic dominate the requests rather than anything with an exam deadline attached.

Motor City

Predominantly British curriculum with a school inside the community. Diploma students from this direction came through IGCSE, so their first Diploma term carries a content gap rather than a technique one.

Tilal Al Ghaf, DAMAC Hills and Dubai Sports City

The immediate cluster, with schools inside or beside each community and predominantly British-curriculum provision. Most local Diploma students therefore arrive from IGCSE rather than from the Middle Years Programme.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Ask the school for the deadline calendar

Not the exam dates but the internal ones: Extended Essay question and draft deadlines, TOK exhibition and essay dates, internal assessment topic approval and submission points, and the mock window. Those are what a tutor plans against, and most families have never asked for them in one list.

  2. 02

Count the weeks to the nearest one

That number decides everything else: one session a week or two, and whether the first target is a subject, the Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge. A general level of worry produces a general plan, and a general plan in a calendar-driven programme is how families end up working on the smaller half.

  3. 03

Take the early slot this community allows

Tilal Al Ghaf pupils are frequently home before four, which makes a four-thirty start realistic rather than optimistic. An earlier session catches a student with attention left, before three hours of homework, and that is worth more than any adjustment to the lesson plan itself.

  4. 04

A free first lesson with the named tutor

One full lesson, no charge, with the person who would continue. Ask them what the Extended Essay word maximum is and what the internal assessment in your child's subject is marked out of. A specialist answers immediately. Then watch whether they found the real problem.

  5. 05

Set work that fits the week you have

One short timed question set per subject per week, marked at the start of the next session, rather than open revision nobody completes. The written note records what was set and whether it came back, which is the most honest progress signal available between school reports.

  6. 06

    Re-plan at each internal deadline

Every submission, mock and report is a checkpoint where the plan is tested against evidence rather than renewed by habit. If a component has closed, the hours move to one that is still open. If a subject is secure we say so and stop, rather than rolling a session forward with no target.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Planned from dates, not from worry

The Diploma banks marks at intervals your child's school sets, so the month you start changes what tutoring can reach. We ask for the internal deadline calendar first and build the plan from it, which frequently moves the first session to a component the family had not thought about.

The core components taken seriously

A 4,000-word Extended Essay maximum, a 1,600-word TOK essay and an eighteen-month CAS minimum are a calendar, not a specification. No competitor page in this market gives a Dubai parent any of that detail, and it is where the Diploma most often goes wrong.

An early slot, because this community allows one

Pupils here are home before four more often than anywhere else in this belt, and we use that rather than defaulting to an evening hour. A tired session is a wasted one, and no amount of specialist knowledge compensates for a student who has already worked for three hours.

The cost of delay stated plainly

Starting in the final two terms costs roughly twice as much per month to reach roughly half as much of the grade. That conversation is harder to sell than the panic one, which is exactly why it belongs on the page rather than waiting to be asked.

Availability answered honestly

When the subject, level and slot combination does not exist, we say which part is the constraint and where a fallback tutor is based. We also say when we are the wrong provider, including for children who need an adult physically present, which we do not offer in the UAE.

Clear about the limits

No home visits in the UAE. No part of an Extended Essay, TOK essay or internal assessment written by a tutor. No distribution of IB papers or mark schemes. No guaranteed grades. No approval or accreditation from the IB, KHDA, ADEK or the Ministry of Education, because we hold none.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Tilal Al Ghaf: your questions answered

Is there an IB tutor based inside Tilal Al Ghaf?+

Probably not for a Higher Level subject, and in this community it matters less than elsewhere. Tilal Al Ghaf has a school inside its boundary and sits beside DAMAC Hills and Dubai Sports City, which also have their own provision, so your child is frequently home before four. The hour an in-home tutor would spend travelling is the hour that makes an early session possible. The specialism you need — someone who teaches that exact course — is scarce across the whole emirate rather than only in this postcode.

Does IB Gram send tutors to Tilal Al Ghaf addresses?+

No. All UAE tuition is delivered live and one-to-one over video, scheduled to Gulf Standard Time, and home visits are a service we run only in India. No tutor is sent to any UAE address. What you gain is a shortlist built from everyone who teaches your child's course at their level, and an earlier start time, because nobody is driving across Dubai to reach you. Where a child genuinely needs an adult in the room, we will say so rather than selling a format that cannot work for them.

Does the short school run in this community buy us an earlier slot?+

Four-thirty is realistic in Tilal Al Ghaf, which is unusual in this part of Dubailand. Because the community has its own school and neighbouring communities do too, the school run is short and pupils are often home before four. That is worth using: a student at four-thirty has attention left, while the same student at seven has done a commute, a full school day and two hours of homework first. An early session is frequently worth more than any change to the lesson plan.

How early should Extended Essay support start?+

In the first Diploma year, because the essay's internal deadlines sit roughly a year before the examinations and the decisions that determine the mark are made at the research-question stage. The 4,000-word maximum is a design constraint rather than a target, and the commonest failure is a question so broad that 4,000 words can only describe it. A narrower question that can actually be answered scores better, and choosing one takes an hour of conversation rather than a term of writing.

Why do students find Theory of Knowledge hard to prepare for?+

Because there is nothing to revise. The prescribed-title essay has a 1,600-word maximum and is assessed on the quality of knowledge-question analysis rather than on content recall, so reading more does not help. What helps is structured argument practice against the actual instrument: one knowledge question developed properly rather than three mentioned shallowly, which is what 1,600 words will actually sustain. Students who try to cover three produce three thin arguments and lose marks on development.

When does CAS need to start?+

At the beginning of the first Diploma year, because CAS runs for a minimum of eighteen months. Confirm the current requirement with your child's coordinator, since the IB revises its guides. The practical failure is not starting late in itself but having no documented reflection, since CAS is evidenced through the student's own record rather than through activity alone. A student with a full calendar of commitments and an empty portfolio is in a worse position than one with fewer activities properly recorded.

How much does starting late actually cost?+

Roughly twice as much per month to reach roughly half as much of the grade. A family starting in the first Diploma year typically runs one weekly session, around AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month at the mid market band, and can still reach internal assessment, the Extended Essay and course content. A family starting in the final two terms typically needs two sessions a week, around AED 1,200 to AED 2,400, and can reach only the written papers because everything internal has been submitted. Those are market figures read in October 2026, not our prices.

What should we do with the summer between the two Diploma years?+

Treat it as the most valuable block in the programme, because it is. Nothing is being banked, no deadlines are running, and four or five sessions a week becomes possible, which is the only realistic way to rebuild fluency rather than patch it. A family that uses it arrives in the second year with first-year content secure, the Extended Essay well advanced and internal assessment topics chosen. A family that does not carries first-year gaps into harder topics while three deadlines converge.

Should we pause sessions through Ramadan or shorten them?+

School hours shorten and the usable evening moves, so sessions shift to the earlier afternoon or to a post-Iftar slot. The adjustment that works is a shorter session at the same frequency rather than skipped weeks, because in a sequential subject a fortnight's gap costs more than two shortened sessions. Where Ramadan falls close to a mock series or an internal deadline, plan that block before it starts. An online slot is far easier to move than a drive across Dubai, which matters most in exactly those weeks.

Which component should get the first session?+

The one with the nearest deadline that is still open, which is often not the subject the family is most worried about. If an internal assessment worth a fifth of a subject grade has no topic yet, that is where the available marks are. If the Extended Essay question has not been agreed, that is a single hour that changes the whole essay. Paper technique matters, but it is the only thing left once everything internal has been submitted, so it should rarely be first.

How many sessions a week can a Diploma student absorb?+

One subject at two sessions a week, or two subjects at one each, is the sustainable maximum in term time. Beyond that the limiting factor becomes whether the set work gets done, and the set work is where most of the improvement happens rather than in the session. Three tutored subjects produces a student too tired to complete any of it. If three genuinely need attention, sequence them across terms and holiday blocks, and we will say so rather than taking the larger booking.

What if the Higher Level specialist we need has no free slot?+

We tell you which part is the constraint, because the fixes differ. If the specialist exists but not in your slot, another evening usually resolves it, and this community has more usable early evenings than most of Dubailand. If the subject at that level is not covered in UAE hours at all, the fallback is a tutor in another time zone teaching at a Gulf Standard Time-compatible hour, and we tell you where they are based. If we cannot cover it, we say that rather than booking a generalist.

Can a tutor help write the Theory of Knowledge essay?+

No, and that boundary is firm. A tutor can explain what the assessment instrument rewards, discuss whether a knowledge question can be developed in 1,600 words, teach argument structure, and give feedback on the student's own draft. A tutor cannot write any part of it, choose the title approach outright, or edit a draft into something the student did not produce. The criteria reward the student's own analysis, so outsourced work loses precisely the marks it was meant to gain, quite apart from being academic misconduct.

Why might my child be the only one in their year taking their HL subject?+

Because the IB is a minority curriculum in a very large market. Dubai had 227 private schools and 387,441 pupils in 2024-25, with the International Baccalaureate accounting for 7% of enrolment against 37% on the UK curriculum. In a predominantly British-curriculum part of Dubailand, a Diploma cohort can be small and a particular Higher Level option smaller still. The practical consequence is that informal information is scarce, which is a genuine argument for a tutor who has taught the course many times.

Do IB tutors in Dubai need a permit?+

Yes. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, covering teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students. Anyone tutoring without it is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no fine schedule is published, so distrust quoted amounts. Ask to see the permit rather than accepting a verbal assurance.

Ask for the internal dates, not the exam dates

The email that changes most is the one asking your child's Diploma coordinator for the internal calendar: Extended Essay question and draft deadlines, the Theory of Knowledge exhibition and essay dates, internal assessment approval and submission points, and the mock window. Put them in one list, count the weeks to the nearest, and you will usually find the first session belongs somewhere other than the subject you were worried about. Then take the early slot this community makes possible, because a student at four-thirty is a different student from the one at seven. Tilal Al Ghaf sessions run live and one-to-one over video at Gulf Standard Time. We make no home visits in the UAE and promise no grades.
