IB Tutor near me in Jumeirah 2

Typing IB tutor near me into a search box from a Jumeirah 2 address returns people who live nearby. The thing a parent actually wants to know is different: does this person know the course my child is sitting as it is taught now. Several Diploma subjects have been rewritten in recent years, and a tutor working from a superseded guide is confident, plausible and wrong. This page sets out what changed, who marks what, and how to check all of it. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah 2

The variable that decides this is not distance; it is whether the knowledge is current

A proximity search is a reasonable instinct and it answers the wrong question. The risk for a Diploma student in Jumeirah 2 is not that their tutor lives in Al Barsha rather than two streets away. It is that the person teaching them is working from a version of the course that no longer exists, and is doing so with complete confidence, because nothing in a conversation reveals it.

This is not a hypothetical. The IB rewrites subject guides on a rolling cycle, and several of the courses Dubai students most commonly take have changed substantially inside the last few years. The sciences lost their option topics and their third paper, gained a split Paper 1 and a single scientific investigation, and had their content reorganised into themes or units with different names. Mathematics was replaced by two courses with different philosophies. English A Language and Literature changed its oral assessment entirely.

A tutor who taught the previous version well will say sensible things about the subject and prepare a student for an assessment that is not the one they will sit. The student revises option topics that are no longer examined. Nobody practises the data and experimental questions in Paper 1B, because in the old structure they did not exist as a separate component. An investigation gets planned against criteria that have been renamed and reweighted. The marks then come in low and everyone blames effort.

What a parent can do about this is specific rather than vague. Ask about the assessment rather than the subject. Ask what the components are called and what each is worth. Ask what the internal assessment is marked out of and how many criteria it has. Ask who authenticates it. Those are closed questions with checkable answers, and a tutor currently teaching the course answers them in a sentence each while a tutor who is not will reach for generalities.

The Jumeirah 2 geography is worth stating once and then setting aside. There is no Diploma school inside the district; students commute to Jumeirah Baccalaureate School one district over, to Raffles World Academy or Emirates International School in the Umm Suqeim cluster, or inland to Dubai International Academy and Dubai American Academy. They are home between 15:45 and 16:45, which makes 17:00 workable and 18:30 reliable. None of that changes which tutor is right; it only changes what time the lesson happens.

Lessons are delivered online, one-to-one, over live video. IB Gram does not send a tutor to a Jumeirah 2 address, or to any UAE address; home visits are a service we offer only in India. The rest of this page is the material a parent needs to interrogate a match: what changed in the guides, how each internal assessment is marked and by whom, how the three core points are produced, what distinguishes a 6 from a 7, what to ask the school, which dates can be verified and which cannot, and what the Dubai market charges with a source for each figure.

  • The school's own teacher authenticates every internal assessment
  • Jumeirah 2 has no Diploma school; every student commutes
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Which stage a Jumeirah 2 student is at determines how much the currency question matters. In the Primary Years it barely does; by the second Diploma year it is the whole of the problem. The four stages below are described with what a parent should actually verify at each one.

PYPAges 3-12 · Early Years to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary inquiry with no external examinations and no subject-specific assessment model to be out of date about. Support here is literacy, numeracy and the habits of independent work, and the exhibition in the final year is the first extended independent piece a student produces. A good primary teacher is a better match than a specialist.

Proximity is a perfectly sensible filter at this stage, and Jumeirah 2 families generally find help easily. That is worth saying because it sets up the later surprise: the route that worked for a Year 4 child does not work for a Diploma student, and parents reasonably assume it will.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP Years 1-5

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups, each assessed against four criteria, with task-specific clarifications written by the classroom teacher. The currency question starts here in a small way: a tutor who does not read criterion rubrics can teach content well and never move the reported grade, because an MYP grade is produced from criteria rather than from a percentage.

At the Umm Suqeim and Al Barsha continuum schools a Jumeirah 2 student reaches MYP Year 5 with good investigation skills and uneven content coverage. The useful verification at this stage is simply whether a prospective tutor can explain what a task-specific clarification is and why it changes how a piece is marked.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects across the groups, three at Higher Level and three at Standard, each graded 1 to 7, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Up to three further points come from the first two, for a maximum of 45. Every subject has its own internal assessment with its own criteria, authenticated by the school.

This is where the currency question decides outcomes. A Jumeirah 2 family should expect a prospective tutor to name the components of their child's subject and what each is worth, because those are the facts that changed. Nothing else on this page matters as much as that single check.

COREAges 16-19 · across both years

The Diploma core: TOK, Extended Essay and CAS

Theory of Knowledge is assessed through an essay on a prescribed title and an exhibition; the Extended Essay is an independent research piece of up to 4,000 words. The two combine to award up to three points on the diploma total, and a very low grade in either is a failing condition in combination with a low points total.

The core is the part Dubai families most often leave unsupervised, because no weekly lesson forces it to the top of the pile. Schools set internal milestones for both, usually with a full Extended Essay draft due in the autumn of the second year, and those dates are in the Diploma handbook rather than anywhere a parent would naturally look.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The grid below is the Diploma as a Jumeirah 2 household meets it, with the component a tutor has to understand rather than the content a brochure would list. Where a course was recently rewritten, the note says what the change was, because that is the thing to ask about.

Chemistry

SL and HL · Group 4

Content reorganised into Structure 1 to 3 and Reactivity 1 to 3. Options and the third paper are gone; Paper 1 now has a multiple-choice section and a data-based section, and there is a single scientific investigation marked out of 24.

Physics

SL and HL · Group 4

Content reorganised into themes A to E, from space, time and motion through to nuclear and quantum physics. Same assessment shape as the other sciences, with the data and experimental questions of Paper 1B the component least practised at school.

Biology

SL and HL · Group 4

Content reorganised around unifying themes rather than a linear topic list. The lightest calculation load of the three sciences, and the heaviest demand on using describe, explain and suggest as the mark scheme distinguishes them.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

SL and HL · Group 5

One of the two courses that replaced the former Mathematical Studies, Standard and Higher Level courses. Calculus, trigonometry, algebra and proof, with a mathematical exploration marked out of 20 across five criteria.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

SL and HL · Group 5

The other replacement course: modelling, statistics and technology-led solutions, with the same exploration. A different course rather than an easier one, and a tutor who treats it as the old Studies course will under-prepare a Higher Level student.

English A: Language and Literature

SL and HL · Group 1

Paper 1 unseen analysis with a guiding question, Paper 2 comparative essay, an individual oral built around a global issue and two extracts, and an additional essay at Higher Level. The oral assessment changed substantially and is where out-of-date teaching shows first.

English B and other Language Acquisition

SL and HL · Group 2

Productive, receptive and interactive skills with an individual oral built on a stimulus. Interaction is assessed as a distinct strand, which is the detail a fluent speaker without the descriptors will not mention.

Economics

SL and HL · Group 3

Microeconomics, macroeconomics and the global economy, with an internal assessment portfolio of commentaries written on published news articles. The compliance requirements around the articles are as examined as the economics.

Business Management

SL and HL · Group 3

Organisation, human resources, finance, marketing and operations, with a pre-released case study for one paper and a research task at Higher Level. Another course recently revised, so the component names are worth confirming.

History and Geography

SL and HL · Group 3

Source papers, essay papers and an internal investigation or fieldwork report. The marks reward argument structure and source handling, which are teachable skills rather than content, and the investigation has its own criteria.

Computer Science and Design Technology

SL and HL · Groups 4 and 6

Both carry substantial internal assessment projects that compete for the same months as the science investigations. Families choosing them rarely discover the coursework load until the deadlines collide in the second year.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Diploma core

An essay on a prescribed title plus an exhibition, and an independent research essay of up to 4,000 words. Together worth up to three points. Support is process coaching: framing, narrowing, and reading drafts in order to ask questions about them.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements and one diagnostic, differing mainly in whether they draw on somebody who teaches the current course. That is the axis this page is about, and it is worth weighing before convenience.

Online one-to-one on the current guide

A fixed weekly hour over live video with somebody teaching the course as it is now examined, matched to the named subject and level. This is what IB Gram delivers in the UAE. The candidate pool is everybody who teaches that course on a compatible timetable, which is the only way to find a specialist for a Higher Level subject with a small cohort.

  • Named subject, named level, confirmed before booking
  • Component names and weightings stated in the first conversation
  • Fixed slot on Gulf Standard Time, no travel either side
  • Assessment criteria visible on screen beside the student's work

A knowledge-check diagnostic

One or two sessions bought specifically to find out whether the problem is the student, the teaching or an out-of-date plan. A marked script is read against the current criteria and the student's revision materials are reviewed for content that is no longer examined. Families arriving from a failed arrangement often need this before they need teaching.

  • One or two sessions, no term commitment
  • Marked script read against the current criteria
  • Revision materials checked for superseded content
  • Produces a written judgement rather than a lesson plan

Core component coaching

Sessions aimed at Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay, which together carry up to three points and are the components Dubai families most often leave unsupervised. The work is framing, narrowing and questioning rather than writing, and it is timed to the school's own internal milestones rather than to a generic calendar.

  • Prescribed title understood before the essay is attempted
  • Research question narrowed until it can actually be answered
  • Scheduled against the school's published milestone dates
  • Drafts read and questioned; nothing written for the student

The in-home market, described rather than sold

Visiting tutors operate across Dubai and are quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included. What that buys is presence and sight of the working environment. What it costs beyond the rate is that the pool narrows to people willing to drive to Jumeirah in evening traffic, with no relationship to whether they teach the current guide. IB Gram does not sell this in the UAE.

  • Quoted in Dubai at AED 180 to 500 an hour, travel included
  • Minimum session lengths are common in this market
  • Pool narrows to drive-willing rather than course-current tutors
  • Offered by IB Gram only in India, not anywhere in the UAE

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jumeirah 2

01

What changed in the subject guides, and what an out-of-date tutor does wrong

The IB revises subject guides on a rolling cycle, and the courses Dubai students most commonly take have seen real structural change rather than cosmetic updating. Knowing the changes is the most practical thing a parent can hold, because each one produces a specific, identifiable error in a tutor who has not kept up. The errors are not subtle. They show up as a student revising material that will not be examined.

The sciences changed most. Option topics were removed, the third paper went with them, and Paper 1 was split into a multiple-choice section and a separate set of data-based and experimental questions. The individual investigation became a single scientific investigation marked out of 24 across four criteria, and the old group project was replaced by a collaborative sciences project that is not assessed for marks. Content was reorganised: Chemistry into Structure 1 to 3 and Reactivity 1 to 3, Physics into themes A to E, Biology around unifying themes.

Mathematics was replaced wholesale. The former Mathematical Studies, Standard Level and Higher Level courses gave way to Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, each available at both levels, with a mathematical exploration as the internal assessment. A tutor treating Applications and Interpretation as the old Studies course will under-prepare a Higher Level student considerably, because the statistics and modelling content at that level is substantial.

English A Language and Literature changed its oral assessment to an individual oral built around a global issue and two extracts, with an additional essay at Higher Level, and Business Management has been revised more recently again. The point is not that a parent should memorise all of this. It is that asking what my child's components are called and what each is worth is a question with a right answer, and the answer tells you whether you are talking to somebody who taught the course last year or five years ago.

Internal assessment across the groups, and who authenticates it

Every Diploma subject carries internal assessment, and it is the part of the course where an out-of-date or non-specialist tutor does the most damage, because the criteria are specific and they have changed. It is also where the academic-honesty boundary lives, which makes understanding it a safety matter rather than only a technical one.

Two of them can be stated precisely and are worth memorising as benchmarks. The science scientific investigation is marked out of 24 across four criteria, each worth six marks, and contributes 20 per cent of the subject grade. The mathematical exploration is marked out of 20 across five criteria and also contributes 20 per cent. If a prospective tutor cannot produce those figures for the relevant subject, they are not currently teaching it, and that is a reasonable inference to draw from a single question.

For the other groups the criteria and weights vary and should be confirmed with the subject teacher rather than taken from any website, including this one. What does not vary is the authentication. Each internal assessment is supervised by the student's own teacher at the school, who confirms the work is the student's own. That signature is the reason the boundary around outside help is firm. A tutor is working alongside a formal authentication process, not instead of it.

Internal deadlines are also set by the school, not by the IB, and they sit earlier than families expect because departments need time to mark and moderate before anything is uploaded. The dates live in the Diploma handbook. A parent who reads them in September and writes them into a calendar removes most of the crises this part of the course generates, and gives any tutor the one document that makes planning possible.

03

The three extra points, and the component nobody supervises

The Diploma total of 45 is six subject grades out of 7, giving 42, plus up to three points from Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay combined. Those three points are the cheapest marks in the whole Diploma and the ones Dubai families most reliably ignore, because no weekly lesson exists to force them up the pile and no parent receives a reminder.

Theory of Knowledge is assessed through an essay on a prescribed title, published by the IB for each session, and an exhibition. The Extended Essay is an independent research piece of up to 4,000 words on a topic the student chooses, supervised by a teacher at the school. The two grades combine on a published matrix to award 0 to 3 points, and a very low grade in either is a failing condition in combination with a low overall total. The current wording of that condition should be confirmed with the school's Diploma coordinator.

Where students lose these points is predictable. Theory of Knowledge essays fail when they answer the prescribed title with opinion rather than with a structured treatment of knowledge claims and counterclaims drawn from different areas of knowledge. Extended Essays fail when the research question is too broad to answer within the word limit, which is a problem created in the first month and discovered in the last. Both are fixable early and expensive to fix late.

What a tutor can do here is narrow in a useful sense. Help a student understand what a prescribed title is asking before they start writing. Help narrow a research question until it can actually be answered with available sources or data. Explain what each assessment criterion rewards. Read a draft and ask which claim is not yet supported. What a tutor must not do is write, restructure or rewrite any of it, because the school supervisor authenticates both pieces as the student's own work.

04

What separates a 6 from a 7, in practice

  • Lower bands describe recall and routine application
  • Upper bands describe evaluation, synthesis and unfamiliar contexts
  • In sciences: assumptions stated, limits of the data acknowledged
  • In mathematics: recognising structure in an unstructured problem
  • In essays: engaging with the strongest objection, not noting it

Parents often ask what the gap between a 6 and a 7 consists of, and the useful answer is that it is a change in kind rather than in quantity. The IB publishes grade descriptors for each subject, and across all of them the lower bands describe recall and routine application while the upper bands describe evaluation, synthesis and the handling of unfamiliar material. A student who knows more facts moves up inside a band. A student who starts doing something different moves between bands.

In a science, that difference is visible in the extended-response questions. A 6 answer explains the physics or chemistry correctly in a familiar context. A 7 answer handles an unfamiliar context, states assumptions, says what the data does and does not support, and distinguishes a correlation from a mechanism. None of that is extra content. It is a habit of answering that can be taught directly, and it is what a specialist spends the final term on.

In mathematics it shows in the unstructured questions, where nothing signals which tool the examiner had in mind. A 6 student solves the problems that tell them what to do. A 7 student recognises the structure of a problem that does not. In an essay subject it shows in the handling of counter-argument: a 6 essay argues a position well, while a 7 essay engages with the strongest objection to it and resolves that engagement rather than noting it.

This is the reason a tutor's currency matters more at the top of the range than the bottom. Moving a 3 to a 5 is largely content and procedure, and a competent generalist can often do it. Moving a 6 to a 7 is about what the current mark scheme rewards in the upper bands of a specific component, which requires somebody who has seen those scripts marked. It is also the move most Dubai families are actually paying for, and the one where hiring by distance fails hardest.

05

Four questions worth asking your child's Diploma coordinator

Before hiring anybody, there is free information available from the school that changes what a family should buy, and almost nobody asks for it. Four questions produce most of the value, and Dubai coordinators generally answer them straightforwardly because they are reasonable questions about provision rather than challenges to it.

First: how large is the cohort in each of my child's Higher Level subjects, and is any of them taught in a combined class with Standard Level. A small or combined class is not a failing, but it tells a family where external support will produce the most return, and it is usually the third Higher Level. Second: who supervises the Extended Essay, and what are the internal milestone dates. Those dates are the planning calendar and they are not published anywhere a parent would stumble across.

Third: what are the internal deadlines for each subject's internal assessment, and in which term do they fall. In Dubai schools these commonly cluster, so three pieces can be due within a fortnight in the autumn of the second year, which is also when university applications are submitted. Knowing that in September is the difference between a plan and a crisis. Fourth: how are predicted grades decided, and from which evidence.

That last question is the most consequential and the least asked. University offers are made against predicted grades, which schools derive from internal assessment and the autumn mock of the second year. A family that understands this plans support for the first Diploma year and the early part of the second, which is when the number that reaches an admissions office is actually being set. A family that does not tends to buy expensive hours in the spring, after the prediction has already travelled.

06

Verified dates, and the ones we will not print

A page that publishes exam dates it has not verified is telling a parent something about everything else on it, so the position here is explicit. Cambridge and Pearson publish their timetables and key dates on their own sites and those are cited on these pages with the source. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, which means no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself, and none is published here.

That is a real limitation rather than a stylistic choice, and it has a practical remedy. The school's Diploma coordinator holds the official session timetable and the registration and results dates for the session a student is entered for. Those are the dates a revision plan should be built on, confirmed in writing. Secondary sources converge on particular windows, but a plan built on a date that turns out to be wrong by a week cannot be recovered, especially a retake entry.

The board dates that are sourced are worth knowing for the IGCSE siblings in the same household, since many Jumeirah 2 families run both qualifications at once. Cambridge runs a June series and a November series, and those two are what a UAE candidate sits. It publishes key dates for each series, and it allocates every exam centre to one of six administrative zones with a separate timetable for each, warning explicitly that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used. The version that counts is the one the child's own centre issues, printed and dated.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE exams run in May/June and November; the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so the right habit for any family is to read the live official timetable rather than a date restated on a tutoring page.

The Dubai rate bands, and how to check each one yourself

Every figure in the table below comes from a published rate table or a provider's own published price, read in October 2026, and the last column says where a parent can look rather than asking anybody to trust the number. That matters in this market because the competitor research behind these pages found that no ranking page cited a source for a single AED figure, and two published prices that contradicted each other on the same site.

The spread is wide. Budget online tutoring, usually university students, is advertised from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, which works out around AED 240 to 600 a month on one weekly session. A qualified subject teacher online is quoted at about AED 150 to 300, roughly AED 600 to 1,200 monthly. An IB or IGCSE specialist runs AED 200 to 450 and above, with exam-year estimates of AED 1,000 to 2,000 and more on two sessions a week. Premium named or examiner-led tutors are advertised at AED 500 to 650 and above.

In-home one-to-one is quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour, travel included, with monthly in-home packages advertised at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits and online packages at AED 799 a month for eight sessions. The in-home premium is the journey, and from a Jumeirah 2 address the relevant journey is the inland run at around six in the evening. It buys presence. It has no relationship at all to whether the person teaches the current subject guide, which is the thing this page argues matters more.

One piece of regulator context belongs beside any family budget. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. On VAT, the only claim any provider can honestly make is whether its own price includes it; the general treatment of tuition fees should be confirmed with the Federal Tax Authority. IB Gram does not publish a price list on these pages and these bands are not ours.

Where help on assessed work becomes malpractice

Every Diploma student carries work that must be their own and is formally authenticated by a teacher at their school: a scientific investigation in each science, a mathematical exploration, a commentary portfolio or investigation in group 3, an Extended Essay and a Theory of Knowledge essay. The boundary around outside help is therefore not a matter of taste. It protects the candidate, and crossing it risks the diploma rather than a grade.

On the permitted side, a tutor may teach the underlying content, narrow a research question until it can be answered with available resources, point out that a variable is not controllable or a chosen article does not meet the requirements, explain what each criterion rewards and what it does not, and read a draft in order to ask questions about it. Questions are the whole instrument: which claim does the evidence not support, where is the counter-argument, what assumption is this conclusion resting on.

On the prohibited side, a tutor does not supply a research question as a finished product, process the data, write or rewrite any section, or return a corrected draft repeatedly until it is right. The student makes every change. The research behind these pages found a site in this market selling completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750, which is not a cheaper form of tutoring but a route to a candidate losing a qualification under IB academic-honesty rules.

Materials follow the same principle. Subject guides, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to the IB, Cambridge and Pearson, and the right behaviour is to reference them and link the official source rather than redistribute them. Sessions work from material the student or their school already accesses legitimately. A provider offering to send a library of papers and schemes is offering to distribute what it does not own, which is informative about the rest of the arrangement.

The useful first message from a Jumeirah 2 household is short and specific: the six subjects with Higher or Standard marked against each, the school, the component currently losing marks, and the internal deadline dates from the Diploma handbook if they are to hand. That is enough to say whether a specialist in the current guide is available at that level in that slot, which is the only question that needs answering before anything else.

If the answer is no, it is said in that first conversation. Where no UAE-based specialist covers a combination at a household's preferred time, the alternative offered is an IB specialist teaching the same syllabus from elsewhere, on Gulf Standard Time, and the family is told that is what is happening before any booking. No competitor in the research set discloses a coverage limit at all, and several conceal non-UAE delivery behind a foreign phone number. Disclosure is cheaper than discovery.

The limits are worth restating plainly in one place. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform. It is not approved, accredited or licensed by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge International, Pearson or the IB. It holds no KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a document issued to training institutes with premises. It occupies no office in the UAE, it has no relationship with any school named on this page, and it does not send tutors to UAE addresses.

What follows a first message is a short call to confirm the subject, level and slot, then a free trial lesson on the student's own marked work with nothing payable and no card details taken, then a written diagnosis naming the component, the cause of the losses and the first two priorities. Lessons then run as a fixed weekly hour on Gulf Standard Time, usually at 17:00 or 18:30 for a Jumeirah 2 household, with work set and marked between sessions.

Where we tutor

Jumeirah 2 and the districts its Diploma students share

These neighbourhoods feed the same campuses as Jumeirah 2 and sit on the same road network. Each note explains what the local picture does to a match, which is mostly a matter of what time a lesson can begin rather than who is available to teach it.

Jumeirah 2

A villa district with no Diploma school inside it, so every student commutes and most households run a second bus for a younger child. The dependable session window is 18:30, with 17:00 workable on days the coast road behaves.

Jumeirah 1

The nearest Diploma provision, one district over, running the full IB continuum. That is the closest concentration of IB teaching to a Jumeirah 2 address, and it still covers only the subjects that one school chooses to staff.

Jumeirah 3

Closest to the Umm Suqeim cluster, with the shortest school run on the strip and therefore the earliest realistic start. Shares the same tutor pool as Jumeirah 2 in practice, which is why recommendations cross between them so freely and so unreliably.

Umm Suqeim

Raffles World Academy and the Kings' schools draw from the whole corridor, and the continuum schools here send students into the Diploma from MYP rather than from IGCSE. That changes which gaps appear in the first Diploma term.

Al Safa and Al Wasl

Jumeirah College and Horizon English School, both British-curriculum, feeding IGCSE and A Level. A substantial teaching population close at hand, almost none of it experienced in current IB assessment, which is the trap this page is about.

Al Barsha and Al Sufouh

Dubai International Academy, Dubai American Academy and the Al Sufouh campuses hold the largest pool of Diploma teaching within reach. Also a thirty-minute drive each way in evening traffic from a Jumeirah 2 villa.

Palm Jumeirah and Pearl Jumeira

Coastal addresses with no secondary provision inside them. Families here face the same questions as Jumeirah 2 plus one more set of traffic constraints, and reach the same conclusion about delivery.

City Walk and Al Manara

Inland of the strip, feeding the same Al Safa, Al Sufouh and Al Barsha campuses. Households from these roads often appear mid-way through the second Diploma year, after an arrangement failed for reasons nobody diagnosed.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Jumeirah 2

The Jumeirah strip

No Diploma school sits inside Jumeirah 2 itself. The nearest continuum provision is one district over and the remainder of the strip is British-curriculum or primary, which is the structural reason a nearby search surfaces excellent teachers of a different qualification.

  • Jumeirah Baccalaureate School
  • Jumeirah College
  • Horizon English School
  • Safa British School
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Jumeirah
  • Latifa School for Girls

Umm Suqeim, Umm Al Sheif and Al Sufouh

Where most Jumeirah 2 Diploma students study, and the closest real concentration of current IB teaching. Each school staffs its own set of Higher Level courses, so availability within this cluster is subject-specific rather than general.

  • Raffles World Academy
  • Emirates International School - Jumeirah
  • Kings' School Dubai
  • Dubai College
  • GEMS Jumeirah Primary School
  • Dubai Japanese School

Al Barsha and the inland campuses

The largest group of Diploma places reachable from Jumeirah 2 and the furthest away at six in the evening. These schools set their own internal deadline calendars, which is why a tutor needs the student's own handbook rather than a generic one.

  • Dubai International Academy
  • Dubai American Academy
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Kings' School Al Barsha

Schools are named as context for the programmes and assessment routes Jumeirah 2 students meet. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and claims no affiliation, partnership or endorsement from any school, school group, examination board or regulator named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

List the six subjects with their levels

One sheet: each subject, Higher or Standard, the school and the year group. A Diploma student is a combination rather than a subject, and this list is what makes a match possible. It also makes it obvious which subject is the third Higher Level, which is usually where support pays most.

  2. 02

Ask the candidate about components, not content

What are my child's components called, what is each worth, what is the internal assessment marked out of and how many criteria does it have. Four closed questions with checkable answers. Somebody teaching the course now answers each in a sentence; somebody who taught the previous version reaches for generalities.

  3. 03

Send a marked script and the handbook dates

A photograph of the last marked paper and the school's internal deadline dates from the Diploma handbook. The script shows where the marks are leaving. The dates show which deadline binds. Between them they turn a general request into a plan that can be written down.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial lesson

One lesson, nothing payable, no card details, built around a question or a draft the student has already been marked on. It demonstrates whether the tutor knows the assessment as opposed to the subject. If the answer is no, a different tutor is proposed rather than the same one defended.

  5. 05

    Get the diagnosis in writing

A short note naming the component, the cause of the losses, the first two priorities and the evidence that will show whether they moved. Brief by design, so that in four weeks it can be checked against a second marked script rather than reinterpreted in conversation.

  6. 06

Review at week four against evidence

If the targeted marks moved, the next priority is chosen. If they did not, the diagnosis was wrong and it changes, rather than the student being asked to work harder against the same plan. That review is also the point at which a mismatch surfaces cheaply instead of in February.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Current guide, not a remembered one

Several Diploma courses have been restructured, and a tutor working from a superseded version will prepare a student for an assessment that no longer exists. The component names and weightings for the student's own subject are stated in the first conversation, because that is the check that matters most.

Criteria by letter, with their marks

The science scientific investigation is 24 marks across four criteria at 20 per cent of the grade; the mathematical exploration is 20 marks across five criteria at the same weight. Where a weight varies by subject we say to confirm it with the teacher rather than guessing on a web page.

The core counted, not forgotten

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay carry up to three points, which makes them the cheapest marks in the Diploma and the ones most often left unsupervised. They are planned against the school's own milestone dates rather than left to appear on their own.

Only dates we can source

Cambridge and Pearson dates are cited from the boards' own published pages. No IB session or results date appears here, because the IB's site cannot be verified by automated checking, and a plan built on a wrong date cannot be recovered. The coordinator holds the official timetable.

Figures with a place to check them

Every AED band on this page names where it came from and the month it was read, so a parent can verify rather than trust. The competitor research found no ranking page in this market citing a source for a single AED figure, and one publishing two contradictory prices.

Limits stated before booking

No accreditation from any regulator or board, no UAE office, no school partnerships, no in-home service anywhere in the UAE, and no promise about a grade. Where no specialist is free at the level and time a family needs, that is said in the first call and the alternative is named.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah 2: your questions answered

How do I know a tutor is working from the current subject guide?+

Ask four closed questions about assessment rather than content: what are the components of my child's subject called, what is each one worth, what is the internal assessment marked out of, and how many criteria does it have. Somebody teaching the course now answers each in a sentence. Somebody who taught the previous version will describe the subject instead, or talk about option topics and a third paper in the sciences, both of which were removed. It takes about two minutes and it is the single most informative thing a parent can do before hiring anybody, at any price.

Why do some tutors still talk about IB science options?+

Because they are describing the earlier course. The previous science guides had option topics that students chose between and a third paper that examined them. Both were removed when the courses were rewritten, and Paper 1 was split into a multiple-choice section and a separate set of data-based and experimental questions instead. A tutor who sets option-topic revision is sending a student to study material that will not be examined, while the data and experimental questions, which are reliably the least practised component, go untouched. It is a confident, plausible and completely wasted term.

What replaced Mathematical Studies, and does it matter now?+

Mathematical Studies, Standard Level and Higher Level mathematics were replaced by two courses, Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, each available at Standard and Higher Level, with a mathematical exploration as the internal assessment. It matters because Applications and Interpretation is not the old Studies course with a new name. At Higher Level it carries substantial statistics and modelling content, and a tutor who assumes it is the lighter option will under-prepare a student considerably. The course name appears on the student's school report and is worth confirming before any arrangement is agreed.

How is the mathematical exploration marked?+

Out of 20 marks across five criteria, contributing 20 per cent of the subject grade. The criteria reward presentation, mathematical communication, personal engagement, reflection and the use of mathematics, and the last of those carries the most marks, which is why a well-written exploration on trivial mathematics scores poorly. A tutor may help a student find a topic capable of being developed to the right level, explain what each criterion rewards, and read a draft in order to ask questions about it. A tutor may not select the topic, do the mathematics, or write any part of the submission.

Who authenticates my child's internal assessment?+

The student's own teacher at the school, who supervises the work and confirms it is the student's own. That signature is the reason the boundary around outside help is firm rather than a matter of style: a tutor is working alongside a formal authentication process rather than instead of it. The school also sets the internal deadlines for the plan, the draft and the final submission, because the department needs time to mark and moderate before anything is uploaded. Those dates are in the Diploma handbook and are usually earlier than families expect.

How are the three extra diploma points actually awarded?+

From Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay together. Theory of Knowledge is assessed through an essay on a prescribed title published by the IB for each session, plus an exhibition; the Extended Essay is an independent research piece of up to 4,000 words supervised by a school teacher. The two grades combine on a published matrix to award between 0 and 3 points on top of the six subject grades, which total a maximum of 42. Those three points are the cheapest marks in the Diploma and the ones Dubai families most often leave unsupervised, because no weekly lesson forces them up the pile.

Can a low Theory of Knowledge grade stop the diploma being awarded?+

A very low grade in either Theory of Knowledge or the Extended Essay is a failing condition in combination with a low overall points total, so it is not merely a matter of losing bonus points. The exact current wording of the condition should be confirmed with the school's Diploma coordinator rather than taken from any website, because the regulations are revised. The practical consequence is that the core deserves scheduled attention in the first Diploma year, when a research question can still be narrowed cheaply, rather than attention in the final weeks when the word limit has already made the problem permanent.

What is the difference between a 6 and a 7 in a Diploma subject?+

A change in kind rather than in quantity. The published grade descriptors across subjects distinguish recall and routine application in the lower bands from evaluation, synthesis and the handling of unfamiliar material in the upper ones. In a science a 6 explains correctly in a familiar context while a 7 handles an unfamiliar one, states assumptions and says what the data does not support. In mathematics a 7 recognises the structure of a problem that gives no instructions. In an essay subject a 7 engages with the strongest objection rather than noting it. None of that is extra content, and all of it can be taught.

What four questions should I ask my child's Diploma coordinator?+

How large is the cohort in each Higher Level subject and is any of them taught in a combined class. Who supervises the Extended Essay and what are the internal milestone dates. What are the internal assessment deadlines for each subject and in which term do they fall. And how are predicted grades decided, from what evidence. That last one is the most consequential and the least asked, because university offers are made against predictions derived from internal assessment and the autumn mock of the second year, which means the number reaching an admissions office is set long before the papers are sat.

Why will you not publish the IB exam dates on this page?+

Because they could not be verified from the IB directly. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed at source, and publishing an unverified one would be worse than publishing none. Secondary sources converge on particular windows, but a revision plan built on a date that is wrong by a week cannot be recovered, and a missed retake entry certainly cannot. The school's Diploma coordinator holds the official timetable for the session a student is entered for, and those dates should be obtained in writing.

Where can I check Cambridge and Pearson dates myself?+

On the boards' own sites, and it is worth doing because many Jumeirah 2 households run an IGCSE sibling alongside a Diploma student. Cambridge publishes key dates and zone-specific timetables for each series, and a UAE candidate sits either the June series or the November series. It allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who use the wrong version, so the timetable that matters is the one the centre issues. Pearson publishes final and provisional timetables on its support pages: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and June 2026 results reached students on 20 August 2026.

What does a Diploma tutor cost in Dubai, and where can I check the figure?+

Published bands read in October 2026 run from about AED 45 to 150 an hour for budget online tutoring, AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject teacher online, AED 200 to 450 and above for an IB or IGCSE specialist, and AED 500 to 650 and above at the premium end. In-home one-to-one is quoted at AED 180 to 500 with travel included. Those figures come from published market rate tables and providers' own published pages, and the table on this page names the source for each band. None of them is an IB Gram price list, and none of them tells you whether the tutor teaches the current guide.

Is a tutor living in Jumeirah 2 any use to a Diploma student?+

Possibly, and location is not the reason. Jumeirah 2 has no Diploma school inside it, and the nearby teaching population works mainly in British-curriculum and primary schools on the Jumeirah strip, so a proximity search returns excellent teachers of a different qualification. What makes somebody useful is whether they teach the named subject at the named level on the current guide. If a person two streets away does, that is a good outcome. If they do not, the two streets buy nothing, and the lesson is online in either case so the distance changes nothing operationally.

Will a tutor come to our house in Jumeirah 2?+

No. IB Gram does not sell in-home tuition anywhere in the UAE, because home visits are a service we offer only in India. Lessons for a Jumeirah 2 household run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with the student's marked work and the assessment criteria on screen together and the session available to rewatch. That is also what allows the match to be made on current course knowledge rather than on willingness to drive. The Dubai in-home market exists and is quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour, which is a fair comparison to weigh.

Where does help on an Extended Essay become malpractice?+

At the point where somebody other than the student produces part of it. A tutor may help a student understand what a research question has to do, narrow one until it can be answered within the word limit and with available sources, explain what each assessment criterion rewards, teach the underlying subject content, and read a draft in order to ask questions about it. A tutor may not supply the question as a finished thing, restructure the essay, or rewrite sections. The school's supervisor authenticates the work as the student's own, and producing assessed work for a candidate puts the whole diploma at risk.

Does a tutor working with a Jumeirah 2 student need a UAE permit?+

Anybody providing private tutoring in the UAE does. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation smart app, website or e-services under Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with a stated two-working-day completion time. Tutoring without one carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no schedule of amounts has been published.

Ask about the components, then worry about the postcode

If you are searching for a Diploma tutor from a Jumeirah 2 address, the question that decides the outcome is not who is nearby but who teaches the course as it is examined now. Send the six subjects with their levels, the school, the component losing marks and the internal deadline dates from the handbook, and the first reply will say whether a specialist in the current guide is free at that level in your slot, or that nobody is and what the alternative actually is. Take the free trial lesson on your child's own marked work, with nothing payable and no card details, and a written diagnosis follows before any term is booked. Lessons run online, one-to-one, on Gulf Standard Time.
