IB Tutor near me in Dubai Hills Estate

Typing IB tutor near me in Dubai Hills Estate returns a list sorted by distance, which is the single variable that does not predict a Diploma grade. What predicts it is the calendar: how many weeks sit between today and the next thing that gets marked. This page lays the two Diploma years out term by term, shows where predicted grades actually come from, plans the eight weeks before a mock the way a tutor plans them, and says plainly that lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Hills Estate

The Diploma is decided in about six windows, not across two years

Parents reasonably assume the Diploma is a two-year accumulation, and in a learning sense it is. In an assessment sense it is not. The grade that reaches a university is produced in a small number of concentrated windows: the point where internal assessment drafts are due, the winter mock in the second year, the moment predicted grades are written, the examination session itself, and the enquiry window afterwards. Everything between those windows is preparation. Tutoring bought without knowing which window is next is tutoring aimed at an average rather than at a date.

That is why a search sorted by distance is the wrong tool. A tutor fifteen minutes from Maple who is free on Tuesdays is a convenient answer to a question nobody asked. The question that matters is whether somebody who has taught the exact course at the exact level is free in the weeks before the next marked thing. In Dubai Hills Estate, where the Al Khail campuses are minutes away and the resident population is large, the local pool is better than most. It still runs out at Higher Level in specific evening windows, every term.

The calendar is also where this market is most obviously empty. Searching the competitor pages for a session name, a registration deadline or a results date returns almost nothing: not one of the ranking pages in this cluster names a single one. That absence is strange, because reconstructing the calendar is usually what a parent is trying to do when they search. This page builds it out, with one deliberate restriction explained below, and then plans against it.

The restriction is about IB dates specifically. Exact IB examination and results dates for a given session are set by the IB and communicated through schools, and we will not print a date across thousands of pages that we have not read on ibo.org ourselves. So the Diploma calendar here is relative: counted in weeks and terms, anchored to the May session UAE schools sit, with the authoritative version in your child's school assessment schedule and with the Diploma coordinator. Cambridge and Pearson dates, for the IGCSE sibling in the same household, are published and are quoted with their sources further down.

What a family in Dubai Hills Estate gets from reading the rest of this page: a term-by-term map of what should already be finished, the three core components that collide in the first year, an explanation of how predicted grades are actually produced and the only window in which they can be influenced, an eight-week pre-mock plan written out week by week, what the market charges with a column on how to verify each claim yourself, and a plain account of how lessons are delivered and where our coverage stops.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The Diploma is the destination, but the calendar pressure starts earlier and the right intervention differs by stage. These are the four stages Dubai Hills Estate families ask about, described by what their deadlines look like rather than by their philosophy.

MYP 5Ages 15-16 · MYP 5

The final Middle Years Programme year

The year the Personal Project is completed and the year subject and level choices for the Diploma are made. Both are deadline events and both arrive earlier than families expect. A student choosing three Higher Level subjects in MYP 5 is making a two-year commitment on the strength of criterion-marked evidence that does not translate directly into a 1 to 7 subject grade, which is why the choice is so often revisited in DP1.

In Dubai Hills Estate the MYP 5 decision is complicated by proximity: British campuses offering IGCSE and A Level sit minutes from IB continuum schools, so leaving the programme at 16 is a live option rather than a theoretical one. Families who treat it as a genuine fork, with evidence, make better choices than those who default to continuity.

DP1Ages 16-17 · Year 12

Diploma year one

The year with no external examination and all the structural deadlines. Internal assessment proposals, the Extended Essay research question and supervision meetings, the TOK exhibition, and CAS commitments that are completion requirements rather than graded ones. DP1 is the year tutoring is most useful and least often bought, because nothing visible is at stake until the first report that looks wrong.

The campuses around Dubai Hills Estate set their own DP1 internal deadlines, and the spread between two schools four minutes apart can be six weeks for the same component. A plan built from a generic IB timeline rather than from your school's own calendar will misfire, which is the mechanism behind almost every February emergency in this community.

DP2Ages 17-19 · Year 13

Diploma year two

The year of the winter mock, predicted grades, final internal assessment submissions and the examination session. The useful tutoring sequence inverts here: content first in the autumn, paper discipline through the winter, and nothing new in the final fortnight. A student who starts tutoring after predicted grades are written has already missed the lever that most affects a university offer, which is worth knowing before booking.

Dubai Hills Estate households frequently run three school timetables at once, so the DP2 student is competing for an evening with siblings on different buses. Where two children attend different campuses, fitting two sessions into one weekday evening usually fails and a weekend morning is the realistic answer.

COREAges 16-19 · DP1 into DP2

Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS

The three components that run alongside six subjects and compete with them for the same evenings. The TOK and Extended Essay combination contributes up to three points through the published matrix, and the Extended Essay carries a 4,000-word upper limit. CAS is a completion requirement rather than a graded one. Families routinely treat all three as administration while paying for extra subject hours, which is the wrong allocation for a student whose subject grades are stable.

Extended Essay supervision is a school function with school-set meeting deadlines, and the useful tutoring work sits around it: testing whether a research question can produce an argument, teaching referencing discipline, and marking a draft against the published criteria. No tutor should write the Extended Essay or draft the TOK essay, and we decline those requests.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Requests from this corridor concentrate on Higher Level subjects in the second year and on the two mathematics routes at every stage. These are the courses we are asked for most from Dubai Hills Estate, with what the calendar does to each.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The hardest single Higher Level course to staff locally, and the one whose exploration gets left latest because it carries no weekly homework. Calendar point: the exploration proposal deadline usually lands while the autumn content load is heaviest, so it has to be planned for in advance rather than absorbed.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics-led and calculator-heavy, with the same exploration timing problem. The decision to take it instead of Analysis and Approaches has to be checked against the published entry requirements for the student's target courses, and that check belongs in the first year rather than the second.

Chemistry

HL and SL

The scientific investigation is a fifth of the grade and depends on laboratory access, which makes its deadline the least movable in the Diploma. Research design has to be approved before data collection, so a late start here cannot be recovered by working harder in the spring.

Physics

HL and SL

Five themes with the same investigation weighting and the same immovable laboratory dependency. Students who arrived with a strong IGCSE grade often stall in the first year because the algebra load rises faster than the physics, and the autumn is the window to catch that.

Biology

HL and SL

Terminology precision rather than breadth decides most marks, and the investigation shares the same timing constraints as the other sciences. Biology students in a double science load face two investigation deadlines in the same weeks, which is a scheduling problem before it is an academic one.

Economics

HL and SL

The internal assessment commentaries require genuinely recent published articles and have a strict word limit, which makes them deadline-sensitive in a specific way: an article chosen too early can fall outside the permitted window by the time the commentary is written.

Business Management

HL and SL

Case-study driven, with marks for applying a tool to the specific organisation rather than describing it. The internal assessment needs primary or secondary research organised early, and students who leave the research until the writing stage lose marks they cannot recover.

Psychology

HL and SL

Studies have to function as evidence for an argument rather than as a list. The internal assessment is an experimental replication with ethical constraints, so its planning stage is longer than students assume and its deadline is correspondingly less forgiving.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Individual oral, Paper 1 guided analysis and Paper 2 comparative essay, with the HL essay on top. The individual oral is the most under-rehearsed component in the Diploma and the one with a fixed school-set date, which makes it the clearest calendar win available.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Core

Up to three points through the published matrix, with a 4,000-word limit on the Extended Essay. Both have school-set internal deadlines that differ between campuses in this corridor, and both are routinely deprioritised in favour of subject hours that are worth less.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three structures, chosen by which window is next rather than by preference. All three are one-to-one over live video with the student's own work visible on screen.

Term-long weekly work, paced to the school

A fixed sixty or ninety-minute slot running with the school's scheme of work rather than ahead of it, so the student is never being taught two versions of a topic in the same week. This is the structure that moves a grade band over a year, and it works because the gap between sessions is where independent practice happens. Ninety minutes suits a Higher Level subject in the second year; sixty is usually right in the first.

  • One subject at one level for the whole term
  • Sequenced against your school's unit order
  • Written feedback after each session naming the next task
  • Reviewed fortnightly against marked work rather than impressions

An eight-week block built backwards from one date

For a mock, an internal deadline or the examination session. Weeks one and two are diagnostic, with full papers under timing marked against the published scheme. Weeks three to six attack the units that cost the most marks, in order of marks lost rather than syllabus order. The final two weeks are timed practice and command-term discipline only. New content stops in week six by design, which students resist and which works.

  • Starts from a marked full paper, not from a chapter list
  • Prioritised by marks lost, not by the order of the syllabus
  • New content stops two weeks before the target date
  • A written week-by-week plan you can hold us to

Core and internal assessment clinics

Bounded sessions on the components with school-set deadlines: subject internal assessments, the Extended Essay and the TOK essay and exhibition. The student brings their own research question, their own data and their own draft. The tutor tests feasibility, teaches technique, explains what a criterion descriptor rewards and marks against the published descriptors. Nothing is written for the student, and requests to do so are declined rather than negotiated.

  • Deadline map built from your school's own calendar
  • Research question feasibility tested before work starts
  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback from the published descriptors
  • No drafting, no editing to completion, no supplied text

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Hills Estate

01

What a search for an IB tutor near me in Dubai Hills Estate is really asking

The literal answer first. A proximity search returns people sorted by distance from your address, which is a useful sort for a plumber and a misleading one for a Diploma subject. Distance correlates with nothing that appears on a mark scheme. What correlates is whether the person has taught the specific course at the specific level, and whether they are available in the weeks before the next thing that gets marked. In Dubai Hills Estate both of those are live constraints and neither is geographic.

The second answer is that the search is usually a proxy for something else. Parents type near me because they want reliability, a low chance of cancellation and someone who understands the school. Those are reasonable wants and only the third has anything to do with location, and even that is weaker than it looks: understanding a school means knowing its assessment calendar and its subject offer, which is a document rather than a postcode. We ask for that document in the first conversation precisely because it carries the information proximity is being used as a substitute for.

Dubai Hills Estate is the fairest test of the proximity argument available in Dubai. The Al Khail campuses are minutes away. The resident population is large, well educated and includes plenty of qualified teachers. If a local tutor market were going to supply Diploma specialists anywhere in the emirate, it would supply them here. In practice the requests that fall outside local availability in this corridor are the same ones that fall outside it in Arabian Ranches or Sobha Hartland: Higher Level mathematics, Higher Level sciences in early slots, several Group 2 languages and the less common Group 3 options.

So this page replaces distance with time. The rest of it is a calendar: the two Diploma years mapped term by term, the core components that collide in the first year, how predicted grades are produced, an eight-week pre-mock plan written out, what the market charges with a column on verifying each claim, and what happens after results. If you read nothing else, read the term map and then ask your child's school for its own assessment schedule.

02

The two Diploma years, term by term, and what should already be finished

This is the map families ask for and nobody in this market publishes. It is deliberately relative rather than dated: anchored to the May session UAE schools sit, counted in terms, with the authoritative dates sitting in your school's assessment calendar. The reason for that choice is simple and worth repeating. Exact IB examination and results dates are set by the IB and communicated through schools, and publishing an unverified date on thousands of pages would be publishing a guess at scale.

Read the right-hand column as a checklist rather than as advice. Most tutoring enquiries from this corridor arrive at a point where two or three items in that column are already overdue, and knowing which ones changes the plan entirely. A DP1 student in the spring term with no approved internal assessment research question is in a different situation from a DP1 student in the spring term whose research question is approved and whose data collection is scheduled, even though both will describe themselves as behind.

The item families most often discover late is the internal assessment research question approval, because it is a school process with a school deadline and it does not generate homework. A research question that cannot produce a usable range of data has to be replaced, and replacing it in the spring of the second year is a different exercise from replacing it in the autumn of the first. That single item is why the first question we ask a DP1 family is about their school calendar rather than about their grades.

The second most-missed item is the subject and level review at the end of the first year. Dropping a Higher Level subject to Standard Level is a decision with a last sensible moment, set by the school rather than by the IB, and it is taken best on two or three pieces of marked evidence rather than on one bad test. Families who have that conversation at the right time make it calmly. Families who have it in the second year make it under pressure, and often make it late.

03

The three core components that collide in the first year

Six subjects are what families plan for. The core is what breaks the plan, because Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS all run alongside the subjects and all have deadlines set by the school rather than by the subject teacher. Together the TOK and Extended Essay combination is worth up to three points through the published matrix, which is the difference between a 34 and a 37 and therefore between two quite different university conversations. CAS carries no points and is a completion requirement, which does not make it optional.

The Extended Essay is the component with the clearest specification and the vaguest timetable. It has a 4,000-word upper limit, a research question the student proposes, a supervisor inside the school and a set of supervision meetings with dates attached. What it does not have is weekly homework, which means it is invisible until it is late. The useful tutoring intervention is early and narrow: test whether the research question can actually generate an argument supportable in 4,000 words, and teach referencing properly before 4,000 words of it have been written the wrong way.

Theory of Knowledge has two assessed pieces, an exhibition and an essay on a prescribed title, and students usually find the essay the harder of the two because it asks them to argue rather than to explain. Subject-strong students in the sciences are frequently weakest here, and they are also the students whose families are least likely to buy support for it, because it does not look like a subject. For a student whose six subject grades are already stable, the core is the better place to spend.

The boundary applies with particular force to the core, because these are the components where outsourcing is most often offered. A tutor may test a research question, teach argument structure, explain what a criterion descriptor is asking for, mark a draft against the published descriptors and teach referencing. No tutor should write the Extended Essay, draft the TOK essay or produce any part of them, and we decline those requests. The malpractice finding falls on the student, not on whoever helped.

04

Where predicted grades come from, and the only window to influence them

Predicted grades are written by subject teachers and sent to universities long before any real result exists, and they do a great deal of work in an application. Most teachers build them from the evidence in front of them, which in practice means the winter mock in the second year plus internal assessment performance plus the pattern of classwork. That has a direct consequence for timing that almost nobody acts on: a student who is going to be tutored at all is better tutored before the mock than after it, because the mock is the evidence the prediction rests on.

Families regularly arrive in March of the second year, having waited for the predicted grades to confirm a worry. The worry is confirmed and the lever is gone. That is not an argument against starting in March, because the real examination is still ahead and a grade can still move. It is an argument for understanding which outcome you are buying: March tutoring aims at the final result, autumn tutoring aims at the prediction and the result together. Those are different purchases at the same price.

The second thing worth knowing is that a prediction is a professional judgement rather than an arithmetic output, so the conversation with the school is legitimate and specific. Ask which evidence a prediction was built on, component by component. A student whose mock Paper 2 was weak and whose internal assessment is strong has a different case from one with the reverse pattern, and the school can see both. That conversation is more useful than any general appeal, and it is best had with marked evidence in hand.

What tutoring can honestly claim here is narrow. It can improve the evidence that exists before the prediction is written. It cannot change a prediction retrospectively and nobody should offer to. Tutoring is also not required for the award of the Diploma, for Ministry of Education equivalency, for university admission or for school progression, and a page suggesting a regulatory or admissions process depends on buying hours is manufacturing urgency about something that does not work that way.

05

The eight weeks before a mock, planned week by week

Most tutoring sold as mock preparation is ordinary teaching compressed, which is the least effective version of it. A block built properly inverts the usual order: it starts with assessment, spends the middle on the specific units that cost marks, and ends with nothing but timed practice. The table below is the plan we actually use, written out so you can hold a tutor to it or run it yourself. The two features that make it work are both counter-intuitive: diagnosis before teaching, and a hard stop on new content.

Week one is a full paper under timing, marked against the published scheme question by question. This is non-negotiable because the mark total hides the shape of the loss. A student scoring 45% has not failed uniformly: they have usually failed in a pattern, with full marks on anything calculable and nothing on anything requiring explanation, or the reverse. Those two profiles need opposite interventions, and no school report shows which one you have because a report grade averages them away.

Weeks three to six are the only teaching weeks, and they are ordered by marks lost rather than by syllabus sequence. That ordering matters more than it sounds. Students and parents both prefer to start at the beginning of the course, which spends the most expensive weeks on content the student already has. A ranked list from the diagnostic sends those weeks to the two or three units carrying the loss, and the difference in outcome is large enough to be visible in a second full paper at week seven.

The hard stop on new content in week six is the part everyone argues about. The reasoning is that unfamiliar material introduced in the final fortnight competes for working memory with the retrieval the student needs on the day, and the marks available from consolidating are reliably higher than those available from one more topic. If the syllabus is genuinely incomplete at week six, that is a different problem and the plan should have been longer. Discovering it then is still better than discovering it in the examination hall.

After results: enquiries, retakes and the other session

The calendar does not end with the examination, and this is the part of it families know least. After results are issued there is a window in which a school can submit an enquiry upon results on a candidate's behalf, which some schools describe as a remark. It is a school-submitted process with a deadline set by the IB and communicated through the coordinator, it carries a fee in most cases, and it can move a mark in either direction. The decision is worth taking on evidence rather than on disappointment.

Retaking is a separate route and it has conditions. A candidate may sit a subject again in a later session, and the IB sets rules about how many sessions a candidate may use to be awarded the Diploma. Those rules are specific and they change, so the only safe source is the current IB documentation through your child's coordinator rather than any tutoring page including this one. What is worth saying is that a retake is a planned five-month project rather than a quick fix, and it works best when the original loss has been diagnosed from the actual component marks.

There is also the other session. UAE schools overwhelmingly sit the May session, but a November session exists and some candidates use it. Whether it is available to a particular student, and whether their school enters candidates for it at all, is a school-level question with a real answer. Families who discover in August that a retake route exists have usually lost two months of a short window, which is why this section sits inside a calendar page rather than at the end of a frequently asked questions list.

One note on what we will not do. We will not quote an IB results date, an enquiry deadline or a retake registration date on this page, because no IB session date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. The IB's own assessment pages and your child's coordinator hold those. Cambridge and Pearson, for the IGCSE sibling in the household, do publish theirs, and the only two series a UAE candidate can sit are June and November. Pearson's International GCSE November 2026 timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and the November 2025 results before it reached students on 22 January 2026, which is a January verdict on an autumn paper. Cambridge entries for a June series close in the spring, several months before the first paper, and the exact date comes to you on the school's statement of entry rather than from a page like this one.

What Diploma tuition costs near Dubai Hills Estate, and how to check each claim

The most useful thing a cost section can give a parent is not a number but a method, because every number in this market is published by somebody with an interest in it. So the table below pairs each claim you are likely to encounter with how to verify it yourself before paying. The figures are real and attributed; the verification column is the part nobody else prints, and it is the reason this section is shaped differently from a rate card.

The headline bands, for reference. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour and specialist IB, IGCSE and A-Level tutors at AED 200 to 450 and above. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. TutorChase quotes AED 270. At the budget end EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. BartyED's premium named tier reaches AED 650. Independent home tutors in Dubai are quoted up to AED 500 once travel is included.

Three of the six competitor pages audited in this cluster publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, a currency UAE families do not transact in. One competitor's schema markup contradicts the price visible on its own page. Another publishes a discount table that contradicts itself. None of them cites a source for a single figure. Checking a quoted rate against a published source, and checking whether the hourly figure matches the monthly one, is therefore a genuinely discriminating test.

IB Gram publishes no rate card. A free trial lesson with the matched tutor comes first, no card details are taken beforehand, and a figure for the specific subject, level and session length follows it. One piece of context for the budget: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for Dubai private schools for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total.

Term dates, Ramadan and the weeks that vanish from a revision plan

  • A fourteen-week term usually contains about ten usable weeks
  • Mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies take real timetable hours
  • KHDA calculates mandatory-subject time on a forty-minute lesson unit
  • Ramadan moves the productive window after Iftar for many households
  • Holiday weeks outperform term weeks for internal assessment work

Every eight-week plan assumes eight usable weeks and most calendars do not contain them. Start by subtracting the obvious: half-term, winter and spring breaks, and the week either side of each one, when nothing productive happens regardless of what the plan says. For a student in this corridor a notional autumn term of fourteen weeks usually contains ten that are genuinely usable, and a plan built on fourteen will be two units behind by December without anyone having done anything wrong.

Then subtract the timetable. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum. KHDA calculates the required instructional time on a forty-minute lesson unit, allows schools to vary lesson length provided the total weekly time is met, and advises that any mandatory subject lesson runs at least twenty-five minutes. Add CAS commitments, a sport and a sibling on a different bus, and the number of usable weekday evening slots in a Dubai Hills Estate household is typically one or two.

Ramadan changes the shape of the week rather than removing it. School days shorten, late-afternoon energy drops, and for many families the productive window moves after Iftar. A session that worked at 17:00 in January often works far better at 21:00 during Ramadan, and a student preparing for a spring session cannot afford to lose those weeks entirely. The practical advice is to agree the shift in advance as a standing arrangement rather than renegotiating it weekly, which is how the weeks actually get lost.

The flip side is that holiday weeks are the most productive block in the year and the most commonly wasted. A student with an internal assessment due in February gets more from four concentrated sessions in a winter break week than from eight spread across the following term. Online delivery also means the schedule follows a family that travels, which removes the usual pattern where tutoring stops in December and restarts in February two units behind.

09

How a lesson actually reaches Dubai Hills Estate

Plainly: IB Gram delivers tutoring to UAE families as one-to-one lessons over live video. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, because home visits are a service we offer only in India, and every country page on this site says the same thing. The phrase in this page's address is what parents type, and it deserves an answer rather than a sidestep, so here it is in one sentence: if you want somebody physically present in Dubai Hills Estate, that market exists and the rates above tell you what it charges, and we are not in it.

The case for video delivery in this specific community is about supply rather than price. A proximity search narrows the Diploma specialist pool to whoever is both qualified and within a reasonable drive, and at Higher Level that pool is already small across the whole emirate. Removing the drive constraint means the binding constraint becomes the tutor's calendar instead, which is a much weaker constraint. A student gets the person who has taught their course rather than the nearest person who has taught something adjacent.

The operational argument is smaller but real. A tutor travelling across Dubai at 17:00 is travelling against the same traffic the school buses are stuck in, and in-home sessions in this corridor are lost to road conditions more often than families expect when they book. A video lesson begins when the student sits down. Across a twenty-four-session term that difference amounts to several whole sessions of recovered time, which is worth more than the hourly saving.

What video delivery genuinely requires is worth stating because it is where sessions fail. A stable connection, a device with a camera, and a way to show handwritten working: a document camera, or a phone on a stand pointing at the desk. Diploma marks live in the working rather than in the final answer, so a student who cannot show their page loses half the value of the session. That is a setup problem, it takes twenty minutes to solve properly, and it is worth doing in week one rather than tolerating for a term.

10

Academic honesty in the weeks when the line gets tested

Academic honesty is usually discussed as a principle and almost always breached as a deadline problem. Nobody sets out to buy an internal assessment in October. They buy one in February, three days before a submission, with a student in tears and a parent who has run out of options. So the useful place to put this section is inside a calendar page, next to the weeks when the pressure actually arrives, rather than as a clause at the end.

The boundary itself is not ambiguous. A tutor may teach content, test whether a research question can produce an argument, explain what a criterion descriptor rewards, mark a draft against the published descriptors and say which band it sits in and why, ask the questions that expose a conclusion going beyond the evidence, and teach referencing. All of that is substantial, and it transfers to the next piece of work. What a tutor may not do is write it. No tutor should write the Extended Essay, draft the TOK essay, complete the coursework or produce the internal assessment, and we decline those requests.

The asymmetry is the reason to decide this early. A malpractice finding falls on the student, not on the service that helped, and it can cost a Diploma for a document the student cannot defend in a conversation with a coordinator. There are providers in this market selling completed internal assessments outright with a price list attached. We do not compete with that and we are not quietly adjacent to it, and the way to tell the difference when you are shopping is to listen for the verb: review, question and mark is teaching; polish, finish, strengthen and complete is something else wearing a softer word.

There is also a copyright line in the same territory. IB subject guides, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables are the IB's property, as Cambridge and Pearson documents are theirs. We reference them, cite them and work from the student's own legitimately obtained copies through the school. We do not reproduce or distribute them, and any service offering a download pack of past papers is distributing material it does not own. Ask where a tutor's practice material comes from; the answer is informative.

Where we tutor

Where a Dubai Hills Estate Diploma student actually comes from each afternoon

This page is about timing, so each area below is described by what it does to a session start and to a deadline calendar rather than by its character. Drive times are indicative off-peak and degrade badly on Al Khail Road after 15:00.

Dubai Hills Estate

Districts including Sidra, Maple, Collective, Acacia and Mulberry, minutes from the Al Khail campuses. Bus runs often land before 15:40, which makes a 16:00 start genuine and gives this community the earliest usable weekday slot in the corridor.

Al Barsha South

Campuses inside the district itself, so school runs can be under ten minutes and sessions can begin before 16:00. Internal assessment calendars here differ from the Al Khail campuses by weeks, which matters more than the shorter drive does.

Al Quoz and Safa

Parents commuting back from Downtown and Business Bay compress the evening from the other end, so sessions here cluster after 18:00. That suits a DP2 student working on paper technique and suits a DP1 student with an early deadline much less.

Sobha Hartland and Mohammed Bin Rashid City

Apartment-dense with established British campuses and rising Diploma demand. Requests arrive later in the cycle here than in the mature communities, which means more enquiries land after predicted grades have already been written.

Arabian Ranches and Arabian Ranches 2

A twenty to thirty-five minute bus loop on the Dubailand side, pushing realistic starts to 16:30 or later. Where a student has both a Higher Level load and a long commute, weekend mornings do more work than weekday evenings.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

British-weighted and IGCSE-heavy, with the Diploma population smaller. Families moving a child from IGCSE into DP1 here face the sharpest content step in this list, and the autumn of the first year is the window for it.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

Low-density villas feeding campuses that draw from across the corridor. Families who moved and kept the school produce the longest commutes, which makes their deadline planning tighter because less of the week is usable.

Town Square and Mudon

Young and primary-heavy, with Diploma demand still forming. The advantage is lead time: families here can have the subject and level conversation two years before it binds, which almost nobody in the mature communities manages.

Diploma and secondary campuses minutes from Dubai Hills Estate

The campuses that set the internal deadlines this page is built around. Each publishes its own assessment calendar, and the differences between them are the reason a generic IB timeline is not usable for planning.

  • GEMS International School Al Khail
  • GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail
  • Dubai Heights Academy, Al Barsha South
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai, Al Barsha South
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • GEMS New Millennium School Al Khail

The next ring: Al Barsha, Sobha Hartland and Nad Al Sheba

Where a Dubai Hills Estate family looks for a different subject combination or a different post-16 route. Internal assessment and mock windows at these campuses run on their own schedules, several weeks apart from each other in practice.

  • Repton Al Barsha
  • Hartland International School, Sobha Hartland
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai, Sobha Hartland
  • Kent College Dubai, Nad Al Sheba
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Safa British School, Al Quoz

Schools are named as context for the community this page covers. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership, endorsement or client relationship with any school listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Name the next marked thing

Not the subject, the date. A mock window, an internal assessment deadline, the moment predicted grades are written, or the session itself. That single piece of information decides whether the next eight weeks should be content, paper discipline or research design, and whether tutoring is the right spend at all right now.

  2. 02

    Send the school's assessment calendar

The document, not a summary. Internal deadlines differ by up to six weeks between campuses minutes apart in this corridor, and a plan built from a generic IB timeline will misfire. This is the single most useful attachment a parent sends, and most families have never been asked for it.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson with the matched tutor

Sixty minutes with the person who would teach the block, not a consultant. No card details are taken beforehand. The student brings a recent marked assessment and one question that has been bothering them, and the session ends with a specific observation about where marks are going.

  4. 04

A diagnostic paper, then a written plan

A full paper under timing in the first fortnight, marked against the published scheme question by question, and a ranked list of units by marks lost. The plan that follows orders weeks three to six by that ranking, stops new content two weeks before the target date, and arrives before the second paid session.

  5. 05

    Fortnightly review against marked work

The plan is checked against evidence every two weeks rather than against how sessions felt. If the diagnosis was wrong, it changes. If the student has reached the point where further hours are better spent on a different subject or on the core, we say which and move them.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Booked against a date, not a term

Every plan starts from the next thing that gets marked and from your school's own calendar. That is why the first document we ask for is an assessment schedule rather than a report card, and it is the difference between a sensible plan and a sensible plan aimed at the wrong eight weeks.

Diagnosis before teaching, every time

A marked full paper in the first fortnight, scored against the published scheme question by question. A report grade averages content gaps, command-term errors, process slips and stamina problems into one number that hides which of the four you are paying to fix.

No unverified dates published

No IB session or results date appears on this page, because none has been confirmed from the IB itself for this project. Cambridge and Pearson dates are quoted with their sources. A page that prints an unsourced examination date is telling you how it handles facts generally.

Coverage limits stated before payment

Higher Level mathematics, Higher Level sciences in early slots and several Group 2 languages cannot always be covered in a specific weekday window. We say so first and offer a different slot, a weekend morning or a bounded block rather than filling the slot with a generalist.

The honesty line set before the deadline

The internal assessment boundary is agreed in the first conversation, not renegotiated in February when a submission is three days away. Teaching, questioning and marking against published criteria, always. Drafting, completing or supplying text, never, and the request is declined rather than discussed.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Hills Estate: your questions answered

Does hiring an IB tutor near me in Dubai Hills Estate actually help compared with hiring further away?+

Only marginally, and not for the reason people expect. A proximity sort returns people ranked by distance, which predicts nothing that appears on a mark scheme. What predicts a grade is whether the tutor has taught the exact course at the exact level and is free in the weeks before the next marked thing. Dubai Hills Estate has a better local pool than most Dubai communities because the Al Khail campuses are minutes away, and it still runs out at Higher Level in early evening slots every term. Ask what they have taught, not where they live.

When in the two Diploma years does tutoring give the most return?+

The autumn of the second year, by a clear margin, because it is the last point at which tutoring can improve both the predicted grade and the final result. Predictions are usually built on the winter mock, so work done before that mock affects the evidence the prediction rests on. The first year is the second-best window and the least used, because nothing external is at stake and families wait for a report that looks wrong. Starting in the spring of the second year still helps the final result; it has simply lost one of the two levers.

Why do internal assessment deadlines differ between schools a few minutes apart?+

Because they are school deadlines rather than IB ones. The IB sets a submission window; each campus sets its own internal draft and final dates inside it, built around its own staffing, mock timetable and reporting cycle. In the Al Khail corridor the spread between two schools four minutes apart can be six weeks for the same component. That is why any plan has to be built from your child's own school assessment calendar, and why a sibling at a different campus is on a different schedule even in the same subject.

What should I ask the school about how my child's predicted grades were decided?+

Ask which evidence each prediction was built on, component by component, rather than asking for the grade to be reconsidered in general terms. A prediction is a professional judgement assembled from the winter mock, internal assessment performance and classwork, so a student with a weak mock paper and a strong internal assessment has a specific case that a student with the reverse pattern does not. Bring the marked evidence to the conversation. A tutoring service cannot change a prediction and should not offer to; what it can do is improve the evidence before one is written.

How many usable weeks does an autumn term in Dubai actually contain?+

Around ten, out of a notional fourteen. Subtract half-term, the week either side of it, and the winter run-in where nothing lands regardless of the plan. Then subtract timetable load: Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools, with KHDA calculating required instructional time on a forty-minute lesson unit. Add CAS, a sport and a sibling on a different bus, and most Dubai Hills Estate households have one or two genuinely usable weekday evening slots. A plan built on fourteen weeks runs two units behind by December.

Is it worth paying for Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay help rather than more subject hours?+

If the six subject grades are stable, usually yes, because the combination is worth up to three points through the published matrix and most families treat it as administration. Three points is the gap between two different university conversations. If a Higher Level subject is two bands below target, that subject comes first, because two points recovered from one subject matches the entire core at its maximum. Either way, support means teaching argument structure, research question framing and referencing on the student's own work, and never drafting any part of it.

What does an enquiry upon results involve after the Diploma session?+

It is a school-submitted request to have marking re-examined after results are issued, which some schools call a remark. The school initiates it on the candidate's behalf, the deadline is set by the IB and communicated through the coordinator, a fee usually applies, and a mark can move in either direction. The sensible basis for the decision is the component marks rather than the overall disappointment, because a near-miss concentrated in one component is a different case from one spread across a paper. Ask the coordinator for the component breakdown first.

Can my son retake one Diploma subject in a later session?+

Generally yes, and the specifics are set by current IB rules about how many sessions a candidate may use to be awarded the Diploma. Those rules are revised, so the only safe source is the current IB documentation through your child's coordinator rather than any tutoring page. Practically, a retake is a planned five-month project rather than a quick repair, and it works far better when the original loss has been diagnosed from the actual component marks. Families who only discover the route exists in August have usually already lost two months of a short window.

Should we book tutoring for all six Diploma subjects at once?+

Almost never. Six subjects on a fixed budget is an allocation problem before a teaching one, and spreading hours evenly is how a year's tutoring budget disappears without a grade moving. Sit full papers in the two or three subjects that feel weakest, mark them against the published scheme, and rank them by how close they sit to a grade threshold and how much of the loss is recoverable in the weeks available. Concentrating on two subjects usually moves two grades; touching all six lightly usually moves none at the same cost.

What does a 45% mock paper actually tell us about what to fix?+

Very little on its own, which is why the mark total is the least useful part of a mock. A student at 45% has usually failed in a pattern rather than uniformly: full marks on anything calculable and nothing on anything requiring explanation, or correct explanations written for questions that asked them to deduce. Those two profiles need opposite interventions. Ask for the component breakdown and, better, have a full paper marked question by question against the published scheme. That is the document a plan should be built from.

Can lessons move after Iftar during Ramadan for a Dubai Hills Estate family?+

Yes, and agreeing it in advance as a standing arrangement works far better than renegotiating weekly. School days shorten during Ramadan and late-afternoon energy drops, so a slot that worked at 17:00 in January often works much better at 21:00. For a student preparing for a spring session those weeks cannot be written off. The failure mode is not the timing itself but the improvisation: families who leave it week to week lose most of the month to cancellations, while those who shift the standing slot keep the continuity.

Does IB Gram send a Diploma tutor to a house in Dubai Hills Estate?+

No. We do not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Lessons for UAE families run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The in-home market here is real, with published rates of roughly AED 180 to 350 an hour and independent home tutors quoted up to AED 500 once travel is included, so the option exists. If you hire into it, ask whether the tutor holds the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is granted free of charge for two years and takes two working days.

What equipment does a Diploma student need for online lessons to be worth the money?+

A stable connection, a device with a camera, and a way to show handwritten working: a document camera, or a phone on a stand pointing at the desk. The third item is the one families skip and the one that decides whether the session works, because Diploma marks live in the working rather than in the final answer. A student who cannot show their page ends up reading answers aloud, which removes the tutor's ability to diagnose anything. It takes twenty minutes to set up properly and is worth doing in week one.

A deadline is three days away and my daughter is not finished. What can a tutor legitimately do?+

Teach, question and mark, which in three days means working out what is actually missing against the criterion descriptors and helping her prioritise what she can still do herself. What a tutor must not do is write, draft or complete any part of it, and we decline those requests however the deadline looks. The malpractice finding falls on the student, not on the service that helped, and it can cost a Diploma for a document she cannot defend. The honest version is a late submission conversation with the coordinator, which schools handle more often than families imagine.

How quickly can a Diploma tutor start, and what if the subject we need is not covered?+

For mainstream Standard Level subjects, usually within days. Higher Level mathematics, Higher Level sciences in early evening slots and several Group 2 languages can take longer, and in some weekday windows they cannot be covered with a genuine specialist at all. When that is the case we say so before you pay anything, and the alternatives are a different slot, a weekend morning, a short wait for a calendar to open, or a bounded clinic rather than weekly teaching. We will not put a generalist into a Higher Level slot and let you discover it in week four.

Send the calendar, then we can be useful

If you are searching for an IB tutor near me in Dubai Hills Estate, the most valuable thing you can send is not a description of the problem but two documents: your child's school assessment calendar and their most recent marked paper. Between them they answer the questions that decide a plan, which are how many weeks remain before the next marked thing and what shape the current loss takes. The trial lesson is free, no card details are taken, and lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. If the honest answer is that this is the wrong moment to spend, we will tell you that instead.
