IB Chemistry Tutor in Dubai Hills Estate

An IB Chemistry tutor in Dubai Hills Estate is, in practice, the same search as an IB Chemistry tutor in Arabian Ranches, Motor City or DAMAC Hills: the campuses overlap, the buses run the same three roads, and the Diploma syllabus does not change at a community gate. This page compares those neighbourhoods honestly, sets out what the current Diploma Chemistry course asks of a student, publishes what the Dubai market charges in AED, and explains how IB Gram delivers lessons - one-to-one, live online, scheduled to Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Hills Estate

Two communities, one Chemistry problem

Parents in Dubai Hills Estate search for an IB Chemistry tutor the way parents in Arabian Ranches, Motor City, DAMAC Hills and Town Square do: by typing their own community into Google and hoping somebody qualified lives inside it. The honest answer is that the community makes almost no difference to the outcome. These neighbourhoods share the same ring of campuses along Al Khail Road, Umm Suqeim Road and Hessa Street. A child in Mudon and a child in Dubai Hills Estate can easily sit in the same Diploma Chemistry class, taught by the same teacher, falling behind on the same two topics.

What does differ between them is the drive. A tutor who agrees to cross Dubailand at six in the evening is pricing forty minutes of Al Khail Road into every hour, and the pool of people willing to do that is small. Narrow it further to people who can teach the current Diploma Chemistry course - not IGCSE science, not A Level Chemistry from a decade ago - and the list in any single community is usually empty. That is not a sales point. It is the arithmetic that sends families to a search engine in the first place.

So this page answers the comparison question directly. It sets the communities side by side, shows what each one realistically offers a Diploma Chemistry student, and then explains why the sensible answer is the same in all of them: take the specialist, drop the drive, and keep the hour for Chemistry. Dubai's private sector has 227 schools licensed across 17 curricula, with International Baccalaureate programmes accounting for 7% of enrolment, so Group 4 specialists are spread thinly across a very large map.

The rest of the page is the substance a Chemistry parent actually needs. What the current course contains, component by component. Where marks go missing between October and the May session, topic by topic. What the Dubai market charges per hour in AED, with the provider who published each figure named. What the scientific investigation is and precisely what a tutor may do with it. And how Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies sit alongside the Diploma under KHDA's mandatory-subject rules, which catch out families arriving from abroad every August.

One point before anything else. Tutoring for UAE families is delivered online, one-to-one, over live video. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the emirates; that is a service we run only in India. We say it here rather than at the bottom of the page because the comparison below is the argument for it, and a family deciding between a specialist on screen and a generalist in the living room deserves the honest version first.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Dubai Hills Estate families reach IB campuses that run the full continuum and British campuses that run IGCSE into A Level, so a Chemistry question can arrive from any of three starting points. These are the programmes we support, and what each one means for Chemistry specifically.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

The two-year Diploma, where Chemistry sits in Group 4 at Standard or Higher Level. Students take two external papers and complete one internally assessed scientific investigation. Higher Level adds depth across the same themes rather than a separate list of topics, which is why a student who copes with Standard Level content can still struggle with Higher Level questions. The bulk of tutoring demand reaches us in the second year, once mock results land.

Among the campuses Dubai Hills Estate families use, Diploma Chemistry is offered at the Al Barsha and Al Quoz IB schools rather than inside the community itself. Three of the seven new private schools opening in Dubai for 2026-27 run International Baccalaureate programmes, which widens the choice for younger siblings but does nothing for a DP2 student sitting papers this year.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme

The five-year programme that feeds the Diploma. MYP sciences are marked against criteria rather than percentages, and the gap between a strong MYP science grade and a workable Diploma Chemistry start is wider than most families expect. Quantitative work is the usual casualty: moles, concentration and stoichiometry get touched in MYP and then assumed in DP1.

Families moving from an MYP campus near Al Barsha into Diploma Chemistry tend to arrive in October of DP1 with the same two gaps. We treat that as a diagnosable transition rather than a general weakness, and the first session is spent finding which of the two it is before any teaching happens.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The qualification most Dubai Hills Estate children sit at sixteen, whether they continue to A Level or cross to the Diploma. IGCSE Chemistry covers mole calculations, rates, energetics and a short organic sequence. Students who were allowed to avoid calculation at IGCSE meet it again in DP1 with no margin left, so we often start Chemistry support in Year 11 rather than waiting.

British-curriculum schools dominate Dubai by enrolment, and the communities around Dubai Hills Estate are no exception. A child crossing from IGCSE Chemistry into Diploma Chemistry needs the mole work rebuilt properly rather than revised, and that is a fixed number of hours, not an open-ended commitment.

ALAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

A Level Chemistry, for comparison

Several campuses in the Al Barsha and Al Sufouh belt run A Level Chemistry instead of the Diploma, and families comparing the two routes ask us which is harder. The honest answer is that they are differently hard: A Level goes deeper into fewer things and examines practical skill separately, while Diploma Chemistry asks for breadth plus an independent investigation and five other subjects alongside.

We mention A Level because the choice is live in these communities at fourteen, and because a Chemistry decision made at Year 9 options narrows what is possible at sixteen. A family weighing the two routes for a Dubai Hills Estate child should ask each campus how many students actually sat Chemistry at the top level last year.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Chemistry is rarely the only subject in trouble. These are the courses we most often support alongside it for students at the campuses Dubai Hills Estate families use, with the specific thing each one tends to cost a student in marks.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Two external papers plus the internally assessed scientific investigation. Marks leak from unit errors, missing state symbols, significant figures and answers that stop one step before the question. We work from past data questions with the command term identified before any calculation starts.

Biology

HL and SL

The course most students underestimate because the content reads as familiar. Extended response answers lose marks for describing a process when the question asked for an explanation, and for omitting the specific named example the mark scheme expects.

Physics

HL and SL

Graph interpretation, uncertainty and the step from a described situation to the right equation. Students who can rearrange formulae still lose marks for not stating assumptions, and the data-based question punishes anyone reading the axes carelessly.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The usual companion to Chemistry HL. Marks go on method lines that are never written down and on calculator work presented without the reasoning behind it. The exploration is a separate project with its own deadline, and it collides with the Chemistry investigation most years.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics-heavy and often chosen late by students who found Analysis and Approaches too abstract. The modelling questions reward students who sketch before they calculate, which is a teachable habit rather than a talent.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The individual oral and the paper one guided analysis are where marks move. Students arrive able to summarise and unable to analyse, and the fix is close reading practice on unseen extracts with the assessment criteria in front of them.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy and command-term discipline decide grades here. An evaluation question answered with description earns little, however well written. The internal assessment commentaries have strict length limits that students routinely overshoot.

Environmental Systems and Societies

SL

Sometimes taken instead of Chemistry by students who want a Group 4 subject without the calculation load. Worth considering early rather than as a panic switch in DP2, because the systems thinking it rewards is genuinely different.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Chosen alongside Chemistry by students heading for engineering. The internal assessment is a software solution with a documented development cycle, and students lose marks on the documentation rather than the code.

Arabic ab initio and Arabic B

SL

Taken by many non-Arab students in Dubai alongside the mandatory UAE subject requirement. Oral assessment is the component families most often ask for help with, and it responds quickly to structured practice.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Chemistry support is actually bought in this part of Dubai, and what each one does to the hour you pay for. IB Gram runs the first of them only.

Weekly one-to-one online, through the Diploma years

The standard pattern: one or two sessions a week with the same Chemistry specialist, running from DP1 through to the May session. The tutor tracks the school's scheme of work, marks written answers between lessons, and keeps a topic error log so revision in the final term is aimed rather than general. Sessions are scheduled to Gulf Standard Time and fit after the bus gets back to Dubai Hills Estate.

  • Same tutor across both Diploma years where availability allows
  • Written feedback on past-paper answers between sessions
  • A running error log by syllabus topic, not by date
  • Screen sharing for data questions and the data booklet

A short diagnostic block before committing

Three sessions bought as a diagnosis rather than a course. The tutor works through a past paper with the student, identifies which of the recurring mark-losers are actually present, and writes a plan with a number of hours attached. Families who have been quoted an open-ended package elsewhere find this the cheapest way to find out what they are buying.

  • Starts with a timed past paper, not a conversation
  • Produces a written topic list with hours attached
  • No obligation to continue afterwards
  • Useful before mock results as well as after

Final-term exam preparation

An intensive block in the weeks before the May session, built around timed papers and mark-scheme comparison rather than re-teaching content. This works when the content is broadly in place and technique is the problem. It works badly as a substitute for two years of teaching, and we say so to families who ask for it in April.

  • Timed papers under exam conditions, then marked together
  • Command-term drills on the question types that recur
  • Data booklet fluency as a separate skill
  • Honest advice when the timeline is too short

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Hills Estate

01

Dubai Hills Estate, Arabian Ranches and Motor City: the same Chemistry problem with a different postcode

Set the communities side by side and the pattern is immediate. They do not differ in the Chemistry their children study, the campuses those children attend, or the topics that cost marks in February. They differ in commute. A Dubai Hills Estate family looking for Diploma Chemistry help and a Town Square family looking for the same thing are competing for the same handful of Group 4 specialists, and the Town Square family is competing with a longer drive attached to the offer.

The table below is built from where these communities actually send children to school and what the local tutoring supply looks like at Diploma level. The bus windows are indicative rather than a timetable; every campus runs its own routes and your school's transport office is the only reliable source. What matters is the shape: the further out the community, the later a weekday session can realistically start, and the thinner the pool of people who will teach it.

Read the final column carefully, because it is the point of the comparison. An earliest workable session of 17:30 is not a scheduling inconvenience; it is the reason a tutor who has to drive quotes more and arrives tired. Remove the drive and the same column reads the same in every row. That is the whole argument, and it does not require anybody to pretend that one of these communities is better served than another.

Families sometimes push back that a tutor who lives nearby will know the school. Occasionally true, and rarely decisive. What changes a Chemistry grade is whether the person in front of your child can take an unfamiliar data set apart under time pressure and explain where the mark scheme puts the marks. Proximity does not predict that, and in a city with 227 private schools running 17 curricula, local knowledge about one campus transfers badly to the next one.

What the current Diploma Chemistry course actually asks for

Diploma Chemistry is assessed on two external papers and one internally assessed scientific investigation. Paper 1 splits into a multiple-choice section and a data-based section. Paper 2 carries short-response and extended-response questions. The investigation is one independent piece of practical work, written up by the student, marked by the school against published criteria and moderated by the IB. Higher Level and Standard Level share the same themes, with Higher Level going further into each rather than adding a separate topic list.

That structure matters because it tells you where tutoring hours pay back. A student who knows the content and loses marks on Paper 1B is not a student who needs more content; they need twenty data questions with the command term underlined before they touch a calculator. A student who writes fluent prose and scores poorly on Paper 2 extended response usually has never compared their own answer to a mark scheme line by line. These are different problems with different fixes, and buying generic Chemistry hours addresses neither reliably.

The table sets out the components and what each one tends to cost students. Confirm every weighting and duration against your child's current IB subject guide or with the school's DP coordinator before you plan around it: the IB revises subject guides on a cycle, and we do not publish assessment percentages we cannot show you a source for. What is stable, and what the table is really about, is the failure mode in each column three entry.

One recurring misunderstanding deserves naming. Parents often ask whether Higher Level Chemistry is 'the same course with harder exams'. It is not. The additional depth changes the kind of question that can be asked, so a student coasting at Standard Level pace through DP1 can meet Higher Level questions in DP2 and find the whole framing unfamiliar. Diagnosing that early is cheap. Diagnosing it after the mocks is not.

Where Chemistry marks go missing between October and the May session

  • Energetics: enthalpy cycle signs and the arithmetic that hides them
  • Equilibrium: applying Le Chatelier when two conditions change together
  • Acids and bases: weak-acid approximations used without being stated
  • Organic: mechanisms read as electron movement rather than memorised lists
  • Across every paper: units, significant figures, state symbols, command terms

The topics that cost Dubai students marks are predictable enough to list. Energetics is first: enthalpy cycles are drawn carelessly, signs are dropped, and a correct arithmetic answer arrives with the wrong sign attached. Equilibrium is second, because students learn to recite Le Chatelier and then cannot apply it to a question that changes two variables at once. Acids and bases is third, where the pH calculations are fine until a weak acid appears and the approximation is used without being stated.

Organic chemistry is the topic parents mention most often, and it is the one where the complaint is usually misdiagnosed. A student who says they cannot do organic chemistry is normally a student who has memorised individual reactions rather than learned to read a mechanism as a sequence of electron movements. Once the arrows mean something, the memorisation load collapses. That shift takes a handful of sessions with somebody who draws it properly, and it does not happen by doing more past papers alone.

Then there is the category that is not a topic at all. Significant figures, units, state symbols and the habit of answering the question that was asked rather than the question the student wishes had been asked. Across a full paper these are worth more than any single topic, and they are the cheapest marks in Chemistry to recover. We start here on almost every page of a first diagnostic, because it changes a grade boundary faster than new content does.

The timing matters. Between October of DP2 and the mocks, there is room to rebuild a topic properly. After the mocks, there is room to fix technique and to drill the question types that keep appearing. By April, the honest work is triage: identify the three highest-value gaps and leave the rest alone. A tutor who tells a Dubai Hills Estate family in April that everything can be covered is either misreading the calendar or selling hours.

04

Chemistry Higher Level and the medicine route from a Dubai school

A large share of the Diploma Chemistry Higher Level demand in these communities comes from students aiming at medicine, dentistry or pharmacy, in the UAE or abroad. The subject requirement is set by the receiving university, not by the school and not by us, and it varies enough that guessing is expensive. Some faculties ask for Chemistry at Higher Level specifically. Others accept Standard Level alongside a second science. Some admissions pages name a minimum subject grade rather than only a total.

The practical advice is unglamorous. Open the admissions page of each target university, find the Diploma entry requirements, and write the subject and level requirement into a single document before Year 11 ends. Where a UAE university is on the list, check what the Ministry of Education equivalency route requires as well, because recognition of the qualification and admission to the programme are two separate processes and families routinely conflate them. We describe both; we do not perform either, and no amount of tutoring is a substitute for a regulatory step.

Where Chemistry Higher Level is genuinely required, the tutoring question becomes a scheduling question. Higher Level Chemistry alongside Higher Level Biology or Higher Level Mathematics is a heavy combination, and the internal assessments for each land in overlapping windows. Students who plan the investigation calendar in DP1 cope; students who meet all three deadlines in the same fortnight of DP2 do not, regardless of how able they are. That is the single most useful thing an external tutor can do early, and it costs very little.

If Higher Level turns out not to be required, saying so is worth more than any revision session. Dropping from Higher Level to Standard Level is a decision with a last sensible date attached, set by the school rather than by the IB's deadlines, and it is a decision best taken on evidence rather than on nerve. We will give a view based on the student's written work and the published course demands. The school's DP coordinator makes the call.

05

What Chemistry tuition costs across these communities, and why crossing the road changes nothing

Start at the cheapest end, because that is where most families start. Online tutoring from university students and general platforms is published in Dubai from around AED 45 to AED 150 an hour: EdFlik advertises AED 45 to 65, Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. At that price the hour buys supervision and homework company. It very rarely buys somebody who has taught the current Diploma Chemistry course, and for a DP2 student with a data-question problem it is money spent on the wrong thing rather than money saved.

Move up one band and the figures change character. A qualified subject tutor working online is published in the AED 150 to 300 range; Unitors lists IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. An IB, IGCSE or A Level specialist runs AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's Dubai rate table reaching AED 450 and beyond. The premium end is thinner and louder: BartyED publishes AED 650 for its named tutors. Every one of those numbers was read from the provider's own page in October 2026, and none of them is an IB Gram price.

In-home one-to-one is quoted separately because it is a different product. Bestimate reports AED 180 to 350 for a home visit and independent home tutors are quoted at AED 200 to 500, with travel inside the figure. Monthly packages seen in the market run around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour home visits. Notice what the second number is buying: roughly the same teaching time, plus a car.

Here is the part that answers the comparison this page is built on. None of those bands moves because a family lives in Dubai Hills Estate rather than Mudon. The hourly figure for online teaching is identical across every community in the table above, because there is no distance in it. The in-home figure is the only one that responds to geography, and it responds by going up as the drive gets longer. A parent in Remraam being quoted at the top of the in-home band is not being overcharged; they are being charged for Al Khail Road at six in the evening. Set against Dubai's school fees - KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees would not rise for 2026-27, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion - a targeted block of specialist hours is a small line in a large budget, and it is the line most under a family's own control.

Online, in-home or a group class: the arithmetic from a Dubailand villa

Put the three delivery options next to each other and the choice stops being about preference. An online hour starts when your child sits down. An in-home hour starts when the tutor arrives, which in this part of Dubai means twenty-five to forty-five minutes of Al Khail Road or Umm Suqeim Road each way at the time a Diploma student is free. Somebody pays for that time, and the published in-home bands show who.

The group option is worth taking seriously rather than dismissing. A small class of two to four students revising shared content, led by somebody competent, is a reasonable purchase for a confident student in the final term. It is a poor purchase for a student whose problem is specific, because the whole value of one-to-one Chemistry teaching is that the hour is spent on that student's actual gap. None of the providers we researched publishes a per-student group rate, so ask for the figure in writing before agreeing to anything.

The table compares the three on the terms that matter from a Dubailand address, and it is the clearest statement of why IB Gram runs the model it does. We deliver one-to-one lessons live online, to Gulf Standard Time, and we do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. Home visits are a service we operate only in India. That restriction is not a limitation we are hiding; it is what lets a family in Mudon work with the same Chemistry specialist a family in Dubai Hills Estate works with, at the same rate, in the same week.

One practical note on making online Chemistry work. The student needs a device with a real keyboard, a stable connection, a pen and paper for working, and a quiet room with the door shut. Chemistry involves drawing, so a cheap graphics tablet or a phone used as a document camera earns its cost within a month. Nothing else is required, and nobody needs laboratory apparatus at home: the investigation is done at school, under the school's supervision, which is where the IB expects it to happen.

The scientific investigation, and the line a Chemistry tutor does not cross

The internally assessed scientific investigation is the component where good intentions cause real damage. It must be the student's own work. The IB's academic honesty rules treat work produced by somebody else as malpractice, and the consequence falls on the student, not on the adult who helped. Two of the competitor pages we examined while researching this cluster sell completed internal assessments outright. We will not, and a family should treat any offer of that kind as a reason to walk away rather than a convenience.

What a tutor may legitimately do is substantial, and it is worth setting out precisely so that nobody has to guess. A tutor can explain the assessment criteria and what each one rewards. A tutor can discuss whether a proposed research question is answerable in the time and with the apparatus available, and can say plainly when it is too broad. A tutor can teach uncertainty treatment, error analysis, graphing conventions and how to evaluate a method. A tutor can read a draft the student has written and give feedback on it, in the same way a teacher gives feedback.

What a tutor may not do is write any part of it, redraft sentences into their own prose, generate the data, or hand over a structure that the student fills in. The distinction a parent can apply without knowing the rules in detail is this one: after the session, is the document still something the student could explain, defend and reproduce? If yes, the help was teaching. If no, it was something else, and the student is carrying the risk. Your child's subject teacher is the supervisor of record, and the school sets the internal deadlines; external support works around those, never instead of them.

The same boundary applies to the Extended Essay and to Theory of Knowledge, and families should expect it to be stated rather than implied. We put it on the page because the alternative - a vague promise of 'IA support' - is exactly how students end up in front of a school's academic honesty panel. A Chemistry investigation coached properly in DP1, with a narrow question and a clean uncertainty analysis, is worth more than a polished document the student cannot account for.

08

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies alongside Diploma Chemistry

Families arriving in Dubai Hills Estate from abroad are often surprised in their first August. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of which international curriculum the school is licensed to teach, and KHDA's requirements were to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, with April 2026 the date for schools whose year begins in April. That means Diploma Chemistry is being studied alongside subjects that do not appear on any IB transcript and still occupy real timetable hours.

The organisational rules are specific. For Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, KHDA requires schools to organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs, and states that combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because of the different curriculum expectations and language of instruction. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language, with the school's licensed-curriculum language used for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and in Moral, Social and Cultural studies. Schools must also ensure that teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects.

Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. Schools may vary lesson length provided the total weekly time is met, and KHDA advises that any mandatory subject lesson should run at least 25 minutes. For the mandatory UAE subjects, the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited, which is a real constraint on how any tutoring material for those subjects may be described. We teach Arabic as a language and will say frankly where that boundary sits.

Why this belongs on a Chemistry page: because it is part of the timetable arithmetic. A DP2 student carrying six Diploma subjects, the core, and mandatory UAE subject hours has less discretionary time than the brochure implies, and a tutoring plan that ignores that will be abandoned by November. We would rather set one realistic weekly session that survives the whole year than three that collapse in the second month.

Starting Chemistry support from Dubai Hills Estate, with the limits stated

The process is short. You tell us the campus, the level, the exam session and what the last written work looked like. We find a Diploma Chemistry specialist whose availability overlaps your child's free evenings in Gulf Standard Time. The first session is a trial, and it is spent on a timed past paper rather than on introductions, because that is the only way to find out what is actually wrong. After it you get a written note naming the specific gaps and the number of hours they plausibly take.

Now the limits, because a page that lists only capabilities is not useful. Diploma Chemistry Higher Level specialists are the scarcest category we recruit for, and in any given week the person best matched to your child may not have an evening slot in the Gulf window. When that happens we say so and offer the options honestly: wait for a slot, take a different specialist, or take a weekend session instead of a weekday one. We would rather lose a booking than place a general science tutor on a Higher Level Chemistry problem and let a family find out in March.

A word on permits, since parents in Dubai ask and few pages answer. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through MoHRE's smart app, website and e-services system, with a two-working-day completion time on the ministry's own service page. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you. Ask any tutor you consider, from any provider, whether they hold it.

Finally, the thing we will not do. We will not promise a grade, a point total or an improvement, and you should treat any tutor who does as a warning rather than a reassurance. What a good Chemistry tutor can promise is that the hour is spent on the right thing, that the work is marked honestly, and that you will be told early if the plan is not working. For a family in Dubai Hills Estate, Arabian Ranches, Motor City or anywhere else on these roads, that is the offer, and it is the same offer in every one of them.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Dubai Hills Estate

These are the Dubailand-belt communities whose children share the campus ring around Dubai Hills Estate. The Chemistry answer is the same in each, and the only variable is how long a car would sit on Al Khail Road.

Dubai Hills Estate

Villas in Sidra and Maple, apartments in Park Heights and Collective. Families reach the Al Khail and Al Barsha South campuses in fifteen to twenty-five minutes outside peak, longer at 16:00.

Arabian Ranches and Arabian Ranches 2

Established villa communities with an on-community British campus and a longer run to the Al Barsha IB schools. Diploma Chemistry means an off-community drive in either direction.

Arabian Ranches 3

Newer, further out, and still filling. The school run is the defining constraint on an evening session here, and most families find a 17:15 start more realistic than 16:30.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Apartment-heavy, with its own British campus and a cluster of tuition centres that teach to IGCSE rather than the Diploma. Group 4 specialists are the gap families report.

DAMAC Hills and DAMAC Hills 2

Long one-way drives to the Al Barsha and Al Quoz campuses. Parents here tell us the in-home quotes they receive carry an obvious travel premium, which matches the published market bands.

Town Square and Mudon

Young family communities a long way from the IB campus ring. Diploma Chemistry support is effectively unavailable inside the community, which is why online delivery changes the most here.

Remraam and the Dubailand edge

The furthest point in this cluster from the Al Barsha schools. Evening traffic makes a tutor visit expensive in time before anybody discusses the fee.

Al Barsha South and Al Quoz

Not residential for most of these families but the destination for many of them. Several of the campuses running Diploma Chemistry sit here, which is why the comparison in this page keeps returning to one road.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Hills Estate

Campuses running the IB Diploma within reach of Dubai Hills Estate

These are the schools where a Dubai Hills Estate child is most likely to be sitting Diploma Chemistry. We support students attending them; we have no relationship with any of them and imply none. Check each campus's current programme list and its latest KHDA inspection outcome on the regulator's own site before drawing conclusions.

  • Dubai International Academy, Al Barsha
  • GEMS Dubai American Academy, Al Barsha
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai, Al Barsha South
  • Hartland International School, Sobha Hartland
  • Fairgreen International School, The Sustainable City
  • GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail

British-curriculum campuses on the same roads, running IGCSE into A Level

Families comparing a Diploma Chemistry route against A Level Chemistry are usually comparing campuses in this group with campuses in the group above. The Year 9 option block is where that decision is quietly made, two years before anybody names it.

  • Repton Al Barsha
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • Dubai Heights Academy, Al Barsha South
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • Safa British School, Al Quoz

Named schools are listed as local context only; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement arrangement with any school, school group or regulator.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the campus, the level and the session

A short form: which school, Standard or Higher Level, which exam session, and what the most recent piece of marked Chemistry work looked like. The last part is the most useful, because a marked past paper tells a specialist more in two minutes than a description does in ten.

  2. 02

We match a Diploma Chemistry specialist

We look for somebody who teaches the current course, at your child's level, with an evening slot that works in Gulf Standard Time after the bus reaches Dubai Hills Estate. If nobody suitable is free that week, we tell you rather than substituting a general science tutor.

  3. 03

A trial lesson spent on a past paper

The first session is free and it is a diagnosis. The student works a timed section while the tutor watches where the method breaks, then they mark it together against the published criteria. Families who have sat through introductory sessions elsewhere notice the difference immediately.

  4. 04

A written plan with hours attached

After the trial you receive a note naming the specific gaps, the order to address them in, and how many hours each plausibly needs. If the honest answer is four hours rather than forty, it says four. You decide whether to continue from that, not from a sales call.

  5. 05

Weekly sessions, marked work and a running error log

Lessons run to a schedule you set. Written answers are marked between sessions and the errors are logged by syllabus topic, so the final term's revision is aimed at the topics that are actually costing marks rather than at the whole course.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The specialist, not the nearest person

Choosing by distance narrows the pool to whoever will drive to your community. Choosing by subject and level widens it to every Diploma Chemistry teacher available. For a Higher Level student in DP2 that difference is the difference between re-teaching and genuine assessment coaching.

Market rates published, with the source named

Every AED figure on this page was read from the provider's own page in October 2026 and is attributed to them. Three of the six competitor pages we examined publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars. You should be able to check a number before you act on it.

The academic honesty boundary stated, not implied

A tutor teaches, explains criteria, and gives feedback on the student's own drafts. A tutor does not produce assessed work. We put that in writing because the student carries the consequence of getting it wrong, and because the alternative is common enough in this market to be worth naming.

Coverage limits disclosed before you book

Higher Level Chemistry specialists are scarce, and some weeks the right person has no Gulf-evening slot. We say so and offer the alternatives rather than filling the hour with somebody less suitable. No competitor page we researched discloses a coverage limit at all.

Regulation explained, never claimed as endorsement

We name KHDA, the Ministry of Education and MoHRE, explain what each one governs, and link you to the official route. IB Gram holds no regulator approval, accreditation or partnership and claims none, in contrast to a common and legally risky phrase in this market.

A plan built around a Dubai timetable

Six Diploma subjects, the core, mandatory UAE subject hours, and a school run that ends at 16:20. One weekly session that survives the whole year beats three that collapse in November, and the plan is written with that in mind from the first week.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Hills Estate: your questions answered

Does an IB Chemistry tutor cost more in Dubai Hills Estate than in Motor City or Arabian Ranches?+

Not for online teaching. The published Dubai bands - roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, AED 200 to 450 and above for an IB specialist - contain no travel, so they read identically in every community on these roads. The figure that does move is the in-home one. Bestimate reports AED 180 to 350 for a home visit and independent tutors are quoted at AED 200 to 500, and the longer the drive from Al Barsha out to DAMAC Hills or Remraam, the closer a quote sits to the top of that band. You are paying for Al Khail Road, not for Chemistry.

Which campuses near Dubai Hills Estate actually run IB Diploma Chemistry?+

Not the ones inside the community. Dubai Hills Estate families reach Diploma Chemistry at the Al Barsha and Al Quoz IB campuses, with Sobha Hartland and the Al Khail schools in the same travel ring. Three of the seven new private schools opening in Dubai for 2026-27 run International Baccalaureate programmes, which widens the choice for younger children. Before you rely on any list, including ours, check the campus's current programme offer and its latest KHDA inspection outcome on the regulator's own site. School programme lists change between academic years more often than parents expect.

My child is at a British-curriculum school in this area and wants Chemistry HL. Is that possible?+

Only if the campus runs the Diploma. Many British-curriculum schools around Dubai Hills Estate take students through IGCSE and then into A Level, where Chemistry exists but Higher Level does not, because Higher Level is an IB designation. Families who want Diploma Chemistry specifically usually move campus at sixteen, and that decision is effectively made two years earlier in the Year 9 option block. If your child is in Year 9 or 10 now, ask both the current school and the target IB campus what subject combination each can actually timetable.

How many Chemistry papers does a Diploma student sit, and what is each worth?+

Two external papers plus one internally assessed scientific investigation. Paper 1 has a multiple-choice section and a data-based section; Paper 2 carries short-response and extended-response questions; the investigation is independent practical work written up by the student and marked by the school against published criteria. Higher Level papers run longer than Standard Level ones. We deliberately do not publish the percentage weightings here, because the IB revises subject guides on a cycle and we cannot show you a verifiable source for a current figure. Your child's subject guide or DP coordinator can confirm all of it in a minute.

Why does my daughter understand the theory but lose marks on the data question?+

Because the data-based question tests a different skill from the one she has been revising. It presents unfamiliar data and asks a precisely worded question about it, and most students answer by describing what the graph shows rather than by addressing the command term. The fix is mechanical and fast: twenty past data questions, with the command term underlined and the mark allocation read before any calculation begins. Most students move several marks within a month on this alone, which is why a diagnostic session starts with a timed paper rather than a conversation about confidence.

Is organic chemistry worth paying for separately?+

Usually it is worth paying for properly rather than separately. Students who say they cannot do organic chemistry have nearly always memorised individual reactions instead of learning to read a mechanism as a sequence of electron movements. Once the arrows mean something, the memorisation load drops sharply and the topic stops being a special case. That shift takes a few sessions with somebody who draws mechanisms properly on screen, and it does not happen by grinding through more past papers alone. Treat it as a teaching problem, not a revision-volume problem.

Can an IB Chemistry tutor look at the scientific investigation before it is submitted?+

Yes, within clear limits. A tutor can explain what each assessment criterion rewards, say plainly whether a research question is answerable with the apparatus and time available, teach uncertainty treatment and graphing conventions, and give written feedback on a draft the student has written. A tutor cannot write any part of it, redraft it into their own prose, or supply the data. The test a parent can apply is simple: after the session, could the student explain and defend every line? If not, the help went too far and the student carries the consequence.

Does IB Gram send a Chemistry tutor to a villa in Dubai Hills Estate?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. Lessons for Dubai Hills Estate families are one-to-one and live online, scheduled to Gulf Standard Time. That is a deliberate choice rather than a gap. It means a family in Mudon or Remraam works with the same Diploma Chemistry specialist as a family two minutes from the Al Barsha campuses, at the same rate, without anybody pricing forty minutes of evening traffic into the hour.

What time can a Chemistry session start if the school bus reaches Dubai Hills Estate at 16:10?+

A 16:45 start works for most families, and 17:00 is the common choice once a snack and a change of clothes are accounted for. Later than 18:30 tends to be counterproductive for quantitative work; a tired DP2 student makes arithmetic errors that look like knowledge gaps and waste the hour. Sessions are booked to Gulf Standard Time, so there is no conversion to get wrong. Families further out in Town Square or Remraam usually settle on 17:15 or 17:30, which is one of the few things the community genuinely changes.

Is Chemistry HL required for medicine at a UAE university?+

That is set by the receiving university, not by the school or by us, and it varies. Some faculties specify Chemistry at Higher Level; others accept Standard Level alongside a second science; some name a minimum subject grade rather than only a total. Open each target university's admissions page and write the subject and level requirement down before Year 11 ends. Where a UAE institution is on the list, also check the Ministry of Education equivalency route, because recognition of the qualification and admission to the programme are separate processes. Tutoring is not a requirement of either.

How many Chemistry sessions a week does a DP2 student here usually book?+

One session a week carries most students through DP2 if it starts early and the written work between sessions actually gets done. Two a week makes sense in the final term, or when Chemistry is one of two subjects in trouble and both need separate attention. Three is rarely a Chemistry decision; it is usually a timetable problem in disguise. A DP2 student in Dubai is carrying six subjects, the core, and mandatory UAE subject hours, and a plan that ignores that gets abandoned by November rather than adjusted.

Does my child need laboratory apparatus at home for online Chemistry lessons?+

No. The scientific investigation is carried out at school under the school's supervision, which is where the IB expects practical work to happen, and no legitimate tutoring arrangement moves it into a family kitchen. What helps at home is modest: a device with a real keyboard, a stable connection, pen and paper for working, and a quiet room. Chemistry involves drawing, so a cheap graphics tablet or a phone used as a document camera earns its cost within a month because the tutor can see the working as it is written.

Our family moved from an American-curriculum school. How far behind is the Chemistry?+

Rarely behind in content and often behind in assessment style. Students arriving from an American programme usually know more descriptive chemistry than expected and much less about how the Diploma asks questions: command terms, mark allocations, the data-based question format, and the expectation that an answer earns marks line by line. A diagnostic session on a past paper identifies which it is within the hour. The content gaps that do appear cluster in mole calculations and energetics, and both are a fixed number of hours rather than an open commitment.

Does a Chemistry tutor in Dubai need a MoHRE permit before charging us?+

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through MoHRE's smart app, website and e-services system, with a two-working-day completion time on the ministry's own service page. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so nobody should quote you an amount.

Will Arabic and Islamic Education still be timetabled alongside Diploma Chemistry?+

Yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA required implementation by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. KHDA also requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and prohibits combined classes for both groups. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. For a Chemistry plan this matters as timetable arithmetic: the discretionary hours a DP2 student has are fewer than the subject list suggests.

What should the first three Chemistry sessions produce?+

A timed past paper marked honestly, a written list of the specific gaps in priority order, and an estimate of the hours each one plausibly needs. If the honest answer is four hours rather than forty, the note should say four. By the end of the third session the student should have changed one concrete habit - underlining the command term, stating units, checking the sign on an enthalpy cycle - and have evidence it moved marks. Anything vaguer than that after three sessions is a reason to ask harder questions rather than to buy more hours.

The same answer in Dubai Hills Estate, Arabian Ranches and everywhere between

The comparison that opened this page closes it. These communities share campuses, roads and Chemistry problems, and the only thing that separates them is how long a car sits in evening traffic. Take the drive out and the answer is identical in all of them: a Diploma Chemistry specialist, one-to-one, live online, timed to Gulf Standard Time, on an evening that fits after the bus gets home. The first session is a free trial and it is spent on a past paper, so you will know within the hour whether this is the right help. If it is not, we will tell you that too.
