IB IGCSE Tuition near me in Dubai

Parents type IB IGCSE tuition near me in Dubai and get a map. A map cannot tell you whether the tutor has ever marked a Cambridge IGCSE 0580 paper against the mark scheme, or read an Internal Assessment draft against criterion descriptors. This page is built on evidence instead: what a session leaves behind, what a marked script shows, and how movement is recorded week by week. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so the tutor is chosen for the syllabus your child sits rather than for the distance from your front door.

  • Every session ends with a marked artefact: annotated script, drill sheet or criterion comment
  • Tutors matched by syllabus code, not postcode: 0580, 0625, 0620, 4MA1, DP HL
  • One-to-one over live video, timetabled on Gulf Standard Time around the school run
  • Free trial lesson first, run as a diagnostic on a real past paper

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

A map pin is not a qualification

The phrase IB IGCSE tuition near me is a proximity query carrying a question about quality. What a parent wants is someone who knows the syllabus their child sits, the paper that is costing them marks, and the internal deadline the school has already set. What a search engine returns is a radius. Dubai widens that gap more than most cities, because the private-school market is both large and spread out: KHDA's sector figures for 2024-25 record 387,441 pupils across 227 private schools licensed to teach 17 different curricula. A family in Mirdif and a family in Jumeirah Park may both need Cambridge IGCSE 0580 help, and the nearest competent person to each of them is very unlikely to be the same person.

So this page sets out what the work itself looks like, because the work is the only thing a parent can inspect before committing money. Every session IB Gram arranges produces something you can read afterwards. That might be an annotated past-paper script with the mark scheme alongside it, showing where two marks went on a six-mark explain question. It might be a drill sheet built from the four question types your child dropped marks on. It might be a written comment on an Internal Assessment draft naming the criterion by letter and the descriptor band the draft currently sits in. Progress is a sequence of those artefacts, filed and dated, rather than a monthly reassurance that things are going well.

Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time around Dubai school timetables. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, and does not make home visits in Dubai; home visits are a service offered only in India. Saying that plainly matters, because it changes what you actually receive. The tutor is selected from the whole pool for the exact board and level, instead of from whoever can reach Al Furjan by 4.30pm on a Tuesday. Online IB tuition in Dubai takes travel out of the price and out of the timetable, and that is what makes the matching honest rather than geographic.

The order of this page follows the order a decision gets made. First, what the radius actually buys you and what it costs you. Then the evidence: marked scripts, criterion comments, a twelve-week record. Then the calendar, counted backwards from the exam window, because a Cambridge entry deadline sits months before the paper and most families meet it by accident. Then the regulator, the mandatory UAE subjects that run alongside any international curriculum in Dubai, and what tuition costs in this market with every figure attributed to whoever published it.

One honest caveat before any of it. No tutor can promise a grade, and anyone who does is telling you something about their sales process rather than their teaching. What tuition can do is make the loss visible and then shrink it: identify the question types that are costing marks, teach the content behind them, and re-test under the same conditions so the movement is measurable. If after four sessions nothing has moved on an identical paper, that is information too, and it is better to have it in writing in November than to discover it in May.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Dubai students arrive at tuition from four main routes, and the route changes what a session should do. These are the programmes this page covers, with what each one assesses and how it plays out in Dubai specifically.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

Five years of concept-led study assessed against four criteria per subject, each marked out of eight and converted to a 1-7 grade by published boundaries. There are no external papers in most subjects, so a student can hold a solid MYP grade and still be unprepared for the timed-paper discipline of IGCSE or the Diploma. MYP 5 students sitting ePortfolios and the Personal Project meet their first real deadline-management test.

Dubai runs MYP at continuum schools such as Uptown International School, Dubai International Academy and GEMS World Academy, and MYP 5 students often transfer into IGCSE or the Diploma elsewhere in the emirate. The practical consequence for tuition is timed-paper practice: criterion marking rewards process, while a Cambridge paper rewards precision against a mark scheme, and the switch is where confident MYP students stumble.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across three Higher Level and three Standard Level choices, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal Assessment carries roughly a fifth to a quarter of the grade in most subjects, and it is marked by the teacher against criteria then moderated by the IB. Higher Level adds both content and a third paper in the sciences, which is where HL and SL stop being the same course at different speeds.

Dubai schools enter candidates for the May session, which is the one that matters for a UAE academic year ending in June. No IB session or results date appears on this page: ibo.org is the only authoritative source and it should be checked with your school's IB coordinator, who also sets the internal IA and Extended Essay deadlines that in practice govern a Dubai student's year far more tightly than the exam window does.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Subject-by-subject qualifications with syllabus codes that matter: 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0500 First Language English. Most are tiered into Core and Extended, with Core capped at grade C or 5 and Extended reaching A* or 9. Tier choice is made at entry, months before the paper, and it is the single decision most likely to cap a result before revision has even started.

Cambridge runs a June and a November series, with March available in some regions, and every exam centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version. Cambridge states that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used, so a Dubai parent should take the timetable from the school's exams officer rather than from a generic website.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The other IGCSE in Dubai classrooms, with its own codes such as 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics and 4CH1 Chemistry. Pearson offers a modular route in some subjects, meaning units can be sat in different series and banked, which changes revision planning completely. Papers are available in a May/June and a November series each year, and provisional timetables are published ahead of each one.

A single Dubai family can easily hold two boards at once, because schools pick subject by subject and a transfer mid-IGCSE can split a child across Cambridge and Pearson. The gap shows up in command-term wording and in formula-sheet provision, not in the physics. Any Dubai Marina IGCSE tuition request therefore starts with a question about the entry code on the statement of entry, not about the subject name.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the subjects Dubai families most often ask about, with what each one actually assesses and the specific place marks go missing. The description is deliberately narrow: a tutor who cannot name the failure mode is not diagnosing anything.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebraic fluency carries the paper. Marks are lost on unjustified steps in proof questions, on calculator-paper answers given to the wrong accuracy, and on the HL Paper 3 extended investigation, where students answer the mathematics but never address the question's final 'hence deduce'. The Exploration is where structure, not difficulty, decides the mark.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics with a graphic display calculator throughout. Losses cluster in interpretation: a correct regression line with no comment on its validity, a hypothesis test with the conclusion stated in statistical language the question did not ask for. Students who were strong at MYP mathematics often underestimate how much of this paper is writing.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core and Extended

Two papers, non-calculator and calculator, with Extended reaching the top grades and Core capped. Marks go on method lines not shown, premature rounding carried through multi-step problems, and bearings, vectors and transformations, which are taught early and then never revisited before the series.

Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625

Core and Extended

Electricity and the practical paper account for most of the gap between a 6 and an 8. Students describe apparatus instead of controlling variables, confuse series and parallel current rules under time pressure, and lose units and significant figures in calculation chains that were otherwise correct.

Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core and Extended

Moles, electrolysis and organic nomenclature are the three recurring sinkholes. Equations are written unbalanced, state symbols omitted, and qualitative-analysis answers give the observation without the inference the mark scheme requires. The alternative-to-practical paper rewards exam technique far more than laboratory experience.

IB Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms at HL, plus a data-based paper that punishes loose language about uncertainty. The Internal Assessment is where most of the recoverable marks sit: a narrow, measurable research question scores better than an ambitious one that cannot be controlled in a school laboratory.

IB Biology

HL and SL

Command terms decide this subject. 'Outline', 'explain' and 'evaluate' carry different mark allocations and students answer all three the same way. Statistics in the data questions, and the ethics and limitations commentary in the Internal Assessment, are the two places a well-revised student still drops a band.

IB Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams are marks, not decoration: axes, labels, shifts and a sentence explaining the movement. Paper 3 at HL rewards quantitative accuracy and nothing else. The three commentaries ask for real published articles analysed against named theory, and most lose marks for summarising the article rather than applying the model.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is unseen analysis, Paper 2 comparative, and the Individual Oral links a global issue to two texts. Students write about content and forget form; the marks are in structure, diction and the writer's choices. HL adds the essay on one studied text, which needs an argument, not a reading.

Arabic and UAE Social Studies

First language and additional language streams

Mandatory in Dubai private schools alongside any licensed international curriculum. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with the language of instruction set per group, so support must follow the stream the school has placed the child in.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Dubai families use these sessions. All three run one-to-one over live video, and all three produce a written artefact, because the artefact is the point of the format rather than a byproduct of it.

Weekly one-to-one with a marked paper cycle

A fixed weekly slot across a term, built on a repeating cycle: teach the topic, drill the question types, sit a timed section, mark it against the published mark scheme, return it annotated. The cycle is what makes progress legible, because the same question type reappears four weeks later under the same conditions.

  • Same tutor, same slot, through to the exam series
  • A marked script or drill sheet after every session
  • Running record of mark movement by question type
  • Topic order set from the diagnostic, not from the textbook

Internal Assessment and Extended Essay review blocks

Short, scheduled blocks timed to the school's internal deadlines rather than to the exam window. The student brings their own draft; the session returns written feedback naming each criterion by letter and the descriptor band the draft sits in. The student then revises it themselves, which is the only version of this work the IB permits.

  • Research question narrowed until it is measurable
  • Criterion-by-criterion comment, with the band stated
  • A revision checklist the student works through alone
  • Second read after the student's own rewrite

Exam-run sprint in the final six weeks

Two or three sessions a week in the run-up to a series, built entirely around full papers under timed conditions. Content teaching narrows to whatever the last paper exposed. The output is a paper-order plan, a timing-per-mark rule and a short list of topics the student will deliberately not revise.

  • Full papers sat to time, not question sets
  • Marking turned round before the next session
  • An explicit decision about what to leave out
  • A one-page plan for the exam fortnight

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What a near-me search actually returns in Dubai

  • Ranking signals for a near-me search measure listings, not syllabus experience
  • Dubai's 227 private schools and 17 curricula make the local pool unrepresentative
  • The statement of entry names the board and code that actually matter
  • Proximity is a sensible filter for a school and a poor one for a subject specialist

A near-me search returns businesses with a verified address close to you, ranked largely on local signals: proximity, category, reviews and the completeness of a business listing. None of those signals is a measure of whether the person who turns up has taught Cambridge IGCSE 0620 or read a Diploma Chemistry Internal Assessment against criterion D. That is not a flaw in the search engine. It is a mismatch between the question a parent is asking and the question the ranking system is built to answer.

In a smaller city the mismatch costs little, because the pool inside a short drive is most of the pool. Dubai is not that city. The emirate's private sector held 387,441 pupils across 227 schools in 2024-25, licensed across 17 curricula, and the specialists are distributed by where they happen to live rather than by where the demand is. A parent in Al Furjan searching for IGCSE tuition in Dubai and a parent in Mirdif searching the same phrase will see two almost disjoint lists, and neither list is ranked on subject expertise.

The second thing a near-me search hides is the entry code. Two children in the same Year 11 class can sit Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1, which are different papers with different formula provision and different command-term habits. A local listing cannot tell you which one a tutor has actually marked. A statement of entry can, and it is the first document worth photographing before any tuition conversation starts.

So the honest answer to the query is this: use proximity to decide where your child studies, and use syllabus evidence to decide who teaches them. The rest of this page is about the second half of that sentence.

02

Proximity versus syllabus match: the trade a Dubai radius forces

A twenty-minute drive at 4pm on a Dubai weekday is a much smaller circle than a twenty-minute drive at 11am. That circle is the real catchment of an in-home tutor, and it is the reason specialist coverage varies so sharply by community. The table below sets out, community by community, what that circle covers, which specialists are realistically inside it, and what live video changes.

The pattern is consistent across the emirate. Generalist primary and lower-secondary cover exists almost everywhere. Higher Level Diploma sciences, Mathematics AA HL, Economics HL and anything involving Internal Assessment supervision thin out quickly once you leave the Jumeirah and Al Barsha corridor. Families in Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens and the Jebel Ali side of the city feel it most, because travel time prices independent tutors out before the subject is even discussed.

IB Gram does not provide in-person tutoring in Dubai, and no tutor arrives at a UAE address; every lesson runs over live video with a shared screen and a graphics tablet. The point of saying so on a near-me page is that the alternative is not a compromise on the same thing. It is a different offer: the whole specialist pool instead of the fraction of it inside a rush-hour radius, and a fixed start time that a closed lane on Al Khail Road cannot move.

Where the trade genuinely runs the other way is with younger children who need physical presence to stay on task, and with practical laboratory work that no screen reproduces. Those are real limits and they belong on this page as much as the advantages do.

The evidence pack: what each session leaves behind

An hour of tutoring with nothing written down is an hour you cannot audit. The habit this page is built around is simple: every session produces one artefact that a parent can read without being able to teach the subject. Three kinds do almost all of the work.

The first is a marked script. Your child sits a past paper or a section of one, to time, and it comes back annotated against the published mark scheme with the marks allocated question by question. The useful part is not the total. It is the pattern: four marks lost across three questions that all asked for an explanation, or two marks lost to premature rounding in a multi-step calculation. That pattern is a teaching plan, and it is visible to a parent in thirty seconds.

The second is a drill sheet. Once the pattern is known, the session narrows to that question type, and the sheet carries the worked models plus a short re-test on the same type. The point of a drill sheet is that it is comparable: the same type reappears three or four weeks later under the same conditions, and either the marks moved or they did not.

The third is a criterion comment on a piece of coursework the student has written. It names the criterion by letter, states the descriptor band the draft currently sits in, and lists what would move it up a band. It never contains replacement sentences, because the draft has to remain the student's own writing. That boundary is set out in full further down this page.

Internal Assessment feedback, marked scripts and drill sheets together are what we mean by evidence. They are also what makes the free trial lesson worth taking: the trial produces the first marked script, so you can judge the tutor on how they read it.

04

Twelve weeks of recorded progress, artefact by artefact

A term is roughly twelve teaching weeks in a Dubai school year, which is enough time for one full diagnostic-to-retest cycle and no more. Planning it as a cycle rather than as a series of lessons is what makes the end of it measurable. The table sets out how a standard twelve-week block runs and what sits in the file at each stage.

Two design choices in that table are deliberate. The first paper is sat before any teaching happens, which parents often resist because it feels like setting a child up to fail. It is the opposite: without a timed baseline there is nothing to compare the week-ten paper to, and a reported school grade is not a baseline because it is a blend of coursework, effort and classwork. The second choice is that the week-ten paper is the same question types under the same conditions, not a harder paper, because changing two variables at once tells you nothing.

Weeks seven to nine sit on coursework for a reason specific to Dubai timetables. School internal deadlines for Internal Assessment drafts and Extended Essay checkpoints cluster in the middle of a term, months before any exam window, and families who plan around the exam date routinely miss them. The tutoring block is scheduled to the school's calendar, which means asking for it in the first session.

If the twelve weeks produce no movement, the honest options are a different tutor, a different diagnosis, or an acceptance that the ceiling is in the tier choice rather than in the teaching. All three are better conversations to have at week twelve with a file of marked papers than at week thirty with a feeling.

A TWELVE-WEEK BLOCK AND THE ARTEFACT AT EACH STAGE
WeekSession focusArtefact the session leaves behindWhat it evidences
1Full past paper under timed conditions, no teaching firstMarked script with marks allocated question by questionThe actual starting mark, rather than a reported grade
2-3The two topics losing most marks, taught from first principlesWorked-example set plus a short re-test on the same question typesWhether the gap was knowledge or technique

12Exam-week planning: paper order, timing per mark, what to leaveOne-page plan the student carries into the seriesThat revision has a schedule rather than a mood
05

Reading a mark scheme the way an examiner reads it

Most recoverable marks in IGCSE and Diploma papers are lost to technique, and technique is almost entirely a question of what the mark scheme rewards. A six-mark explain question is not an invitation to write for six minutes. It is a request for a specific number of linked points, each of which earns a mark, in an order that shows cause leading to effect. Students who write beautifully and score five out of nine are usually writing the right content in a shape the mark scheme cannot credit.

The command terms do most of the damage. 'State' wants a fact with no justification and no credit for one. 'Describe' wants what happens. 'Explain' wants why, with a mechanism. 'Evaluate' wants both sides and a judgement, and loses marks when the judgement is left implicit. These distinctions are published by the boards and taught in schools, and they still account for a predictable slice of lost marks because they are easy to understand and hard to perform under time pressure.

The second common loss is arithmetic hygiene in otherwise correct work: premature rounding carried through three steps, a missing unit, a significant-figure convention ignored on the calculator paper. In IGCSE Physics 0625 and Chemistry 0620 this is worth more than any single topic. It is also the fastest thing to fix, which is why the first few weeks of a block often look unglamorous.

IGCSE past paper marking in a session means one more thing worth stating plainly. IB Gram does not reproduce or supply board syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables as downloads. Those materials belong to Cambridge, Pearson and the IB, and the right route is the school's exams officer or the board's own site, cited and linked, with the session spent on how to use them.

06

Internal Assessment and the Extended Essay: where feedback stops

  • The student is the sole author; the tutor teaches, reads and comments
  • Feedback names the criterion letter and the descriptor band, never the sentences
  • Board materials are cited and linked, never reproduced or supplied
  • School internal deadlines govern the year more tightly than the exam window

This is the boundary that separates a tutor from an essay mill, and the Dubai search results for Diploma coursework contain both. The IB's academic-honesty rules make the student the sole author of their Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay and Personal Project. A tutor teaches the skills, reads the draft and gives feedback. A tutor who supplies sentences has created a malpractice case against the student, and the consequence falls on the candidate rather than on the person who was paid.

What a session can legitimately do is substantial. It can narrow a research question until it is measurable in a school laboratory or answerable from available data. It can read a draft against the criterion descriptors and say, in writing, that the analysis currently sits in the middle band and what a top band requires. It can teach referencing, uncertainty treatment, the difference between describing a result and evaluating a method, and how to structure an argument that answers the question asked. It can read a second time after the student has rewritten it.

What it cannot do is produce text, edit a draft into finished prose, or hand over a model answer for the same research question. No tutor at IB Gram writes, redrafts or submits a student's coursework, and any provider offering a completed Internal Assessment is selling the student a disciplinary risk, not a grade. The published prices for that service in this market are easy to find; that does not make it safe to buy.

Supervision deadlines are set by the school, not by the board, and in Dubai they typically run several months ahead of the exam series. Getting the internal calendar in the first session is the practical half of this section.

07

The exam calendar, counted backwards

Almost every competitor page in this market talks about exams without naming a session, a deadline or a results date. That is the single largest information gap in the Dubai tutoring search results, and it matters because the deadlines that decide a result sit months before the paper. The table reads the calendar backwards, from the certificate to the entry.

The arithmetic of the Cambridge June series is the clearest worked example of why, and June is the series that matters here: a UAE centre enters for June or November, and the February and March series is offered to India only. June entries close in the spring, a term or more before the first paper, and the exact day is printed on the statement of entry rather than being the same date each year. That timing is the whole point. The tier decision, Core or Extended, is made at that entry, which means a revision plan starting after the spring break is working inside a ceiling that was fixed before the mocks were even marked. Pearson's published calendar shows the same gap in checkable numbers: its November 2026 International GCSE timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Count back from any of those and the entry sits months earlier.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE papers run in a May/June and a November series. The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026. For the June 2026 series, results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and revises them, so the live PDF on the Pearson site is the only version worth planning against.

No IB session or results date appears in that table, and that is deliberate. The IB's own timetable is the authoritative source and should be confirmed with your school's IB coordinator. What can be said safely is that Dubai schools enter candidates for the May session, and that the internal Internal Assessment and Extended Essay deadlines the school sets are the dates a Diploma family should actually be planning around.

KHDA inspection bands and what a school report does not tell you

Dubai's private schools are overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. KHDA inspects annually and publishes a judgement on a six-band scale. Parents read those bands closely when choosing a school and then, understandably, assume the band says something about their own child's marks. It does not, and the gap between the two is where tuition decisions get made badly.

An inspection judges the school: teaching quality, leadership, provision, outcomes across cohorts. A high band tells you the median student is well served. It cannot tell you whether your child is in the group that is not, or whether a strong overall judgement is carried by a subject your child does not take. Equally, a lower band does not mean a particular department is weak. KHDA inspection bands are a procurement signal for parents choosing a school, not a diagnostic for an individual learner.

What is diagnostic is a timed paper marked against the mark scheme, which is why this page keeps returning to it. A school report blends classwork, effort, coursework and assessment into a single letter or number that is genuinely useful to a teacher and nearly useless for planning revision. The table below sets out what each band describes and what it leaves open.

One further Dubai-specific point belongs here. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package. For a family budgeting tuition alongside fees, a flat fee year is the context in which a weekly session is actually affordable or not.

Mandatory UAE subjects, permits and what to verify before paying

  • Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies run alongside any licensed curriculum in Dubai
  • Separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs are required, with the language of instruction set per stream
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free and valid two years under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • Premises-based tuition centres need a KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a different thing entirely

Two regulatory facts shape tutoring in Dubai and almost no competitor page mentions either. The first is that Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with KHDA's requirements to be implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year, and April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and states that combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and KHDA advises that no mandatory-subject lesson runs shorter than 25 minutes.

That has a direct consequence for tuition. Support for these subjects must follow the stream the school placed the child in, because the syllabus and the language of instruction differ between streams. KHDA also notes that using different or additional content for the mandatory subjects without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited, so this is not a space for invented material.

The second fact is the permit. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, it is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount is quoted here.

A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal animal and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute. IB Gram holds no regulator permit of that kind, operates no UAE premises, and makes no claim of approval or accreditation by KHDA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. Ask any provider which permit applies to them and verify it before paying.

What tuition costs in Dubai, in context

Three of the six best-ranking pages in this market publish no price at all, and two of the remaining ones quote US dollars, which is not the currency a Dubai family transacts in. So here are the market bands in dirhams, each attributed to whoever published it. These are market rates, not an IB Gram price list.

The useful way to read the table is as a set of trade-offs rather than a ladder. Budget online tutoring, often delivered by university students, sits at the bottom and is a reasonable buy for homework support and consolidation. A qualified subject tutor working online occupies the middle. Specialist IGCSE and Diploma work, especially Higher Level sciences and coursework supervision, sits above it. In-home visits carry travel inside the hourly rate, which is why that band starts higher and widens fastest, and it is the band a near-me search points you at by default.

What moves a quoted number in Dubai specifically: the level, since Diploma Higher Level pays more than IGCSE Core; the proximity of the series, since January and April are the tightest weeks in the calendar; session length, since a 90-minute slot rarely costs 1.5 times a 60-minute one; and whether coursework supervision is involved, which is more demanding than topic teaching. Group formats reduce the per-student rate and remove the diagnostic that makes a session worth buying.

IB Gram's own position: lessons are online and one-to-one, the first lesson is a free trial run as a diagnostic on a real past paper, and a quoted rate comes from the consultation once the board, level and subject are known. No price appears on this page, because a number without the subject, level and session length attached is a marketing figure rather than a quote.

Where we tutor

Dubai communities and what the school run does to a 4pm session

Proximity is the whole premise of a near-me search, so it deserves a straight answer. Here is what the radius around each community realistically contains, and when a session can actually start once the school run and the traffic are accounted for.

Dubai Marina and JLT

High-rise living with school buses arriving between 3.15pm and 4pm. A 4.30pm start works; a 6pm start collides with the Sheikh Zayed Road return. Families here most often ask about IGCSE sciences and DP Mathematics.

Mirdif and Al Warqa

Villa communities feeding a mix of British and IB continuum schools. Sessions sit comfortably at 5pm. Requests skew towards IGCSE Chemistry and Physics, and towards MYP-to-Diploma transition work in Year 11.

Arabian Ranches and Dubai Hills Estate

Long internal distances inside the communities themselves. Evening slots from 6.30pm are the norm. Economics, Business Management and Mathematics AA at Higher Level are the subjects least covered by nearby tutors.

Jumeirah, Al Safa and Umm Suqeim

The densest tutoring supply in the emirate and the heaviest competition for 5pm to 7pm slots in the weeks before a series. Booking a fixed weekly slot in September is materially easier than in January.

Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens and JVT

Travel time prices many independent tutors out of this corridor entirely, which is exactly where online delivery changes the available pool rather than merely the convenience. Full subject coverage at the same rate as any other community.

Dubai Festival City, Al Garhoud and Deira

Strong Arabic and IGCSE coverage locally, thin supply for Mathematics AA HL and Chemistry HL. Session timing is the easiest in the city, since the school run clears early.

Dubai Silicon Oasis and Nad Al Sheba

Newer communities with growing school capacity, and Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven more private schools across the emirate. Families here often need support bridging a mid-year school transfer between boards.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Jumeirah, Al Safa and Umm Suqeim

A cluster where IGCSE at 16 followed by A Level or the Diploma is the standard route, and where tuition requests are usually about tier choice at entry rather than about catching up.

  • Dubai College
  • Jumeirah College
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School
  • Raffles World Academy
  • Kings' School Dubai
  • Horizon English School

Al Barsha, Dubai Hills Estate and Emirates Hills

Mixed British and IB provision in close proximity, so siblings in one family can sit two different boards. Students we support in this cluster most often ask for Diploma Higher Level science and mathematics.

  • Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills
  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • American School of Dubai
  • Repton Al Barsha

Mirdif, Nad Al Sheba and Dubai Festival City

IB continuum schools sit alongside large British-curriculum schools here, and MYP-to-IGCSE or MYP-to-Diploma transfers are common in Year 10 and Year 11.

  • Uptown International School
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Repton School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Star International School Mirdif

Named schools appear here as context for Dubai families reading this page; IB Gram claims no affiliation with, endorsement from, or relationship to any of them, and every name should be checked against KHDA's own school listing.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the statement of entry, not the subject name

The first message that saves a week is a photograph of the exam entry or the school's subject list. It names the board and the syllabus code, which is what the match is made on. Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are both called maths and are not the same paper.

  2. 02

Free trial lesson, run as a diagnostic

The trial is a timed section of a real past paper plus the marking conversation afterwards. You end it holding the first marked script and a short written view of where the marks are going. If the tutor is not the right fit, you have lost an hour and gained a baseline.

  3. 03

Agree the twelve-week shape and the school's deadlines

Before the second session, the plan is fixed: topic order from the diagnostic, the week-ten retest date, and the school's own internal deadlines for coursework drafts. In Dubai those internal dates usually bind harder than the exam window does.

  4. 04

Weekly sessions with an artefact each time

A fixed slot in Gulf Standard Time, one-to-one over live video. Each session returns a marked script, a drill sheet or a criterion comment. Nothing is reported as a feeling; the file either shows movement on the same question types or it does not.

  5. 05

Review at week ten and decide honestly

The second timed paper goes beside the first and the comparison drives the next decision: continue, change tutor, change tier expectation, or stop. All four are legitimate outcomes, and all four are better decided from two marked papers than from an opinion.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The tutor is matched to the code, not the catchment

Matching runs on board, syllabus code and level, which is the only information that predicts whether a tutor can read your child's paper. Because delivery is online, that match is made across the whole pool rather than across the fraction of it inside a 4pm driving radius.

Every session is auditable by a parent who does not teach

A marked script with per-question marks, a drill sheet with model answers, or a criterion comment naming the band. These are readable in a couple of minutes by someone who has never seen a mark scheme, which is the point of producing them.

The coursework boundary is stated, not implied

Internal Assessment and Extended Essay support is teaching, reading and written feedback on the student's own draft. No sentences are supplied and no draft is finished for the student. That boundary protects the candidate, which matters more than any grade claim.

The calendar is handled, including the deadlines nobody mentions

Entry deadlines, forecast-grade dates, results dates and the school's own internal coursework deadlines are in the plan from the second session. The Cambridge June entry deadline, which falls in the spring and comes from your exams officer rather than from a search, is the kind of date that quietly fixes a ceiling.

Numbers on this page carry their source

Every AED band is attributed to the company or rate table that published it, and every regulatory statement to u.ae, KHDA, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson. No IB exam date appears here, because the IB's own site is the only authority and it should be checked with the school.

Availability is disclosed before you pay

Some niche Higher Level subjects and some Arabic streams have genuinely thin coverage. When that happens you are told the realistic match time rather than being booked with the nearest available generalist and left to discover the gap in week three.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What does an IB IGCSE tuition near me search actually get wrong in Dubai?+

It answers a question about quality with a measure of distance. Local results are ranked on proximity, category and listing completeness, none of which indicate whether a tutor has marked Cambridge 0620 Chemistry or read a Diploma Internal Assessment against its criteria. Dubai makes this worse than most cities: 227 private schools across 17 curricula in 2024-25 mean the specialists are scattered by where they live, not by where demand sits. Use proximity to choose a school. Use syllabus evidence, meaning the board, the code and a marked script, to choose who teaches the subject.

How will I see proof that my child is improving, week by week?+

Through artefacts rather than reports. Week one produces a marked past paper with marks allocated question by question, which becomes the baseline. Weeks two to six produce drill sheets on the question types that lost marks, each with a short re-test on the same type. Weeks seven to nine produce written criterion comments on coursework drafts. Week ten produces a second timed paper under identical conditions, filed beside the first. You read the two totals and, more usefully, the two patterns. If the same question type is still losing marks after six weeks of work on it, that is visible to you without any subject knowledge.

Can I read the tutor's marking of my child's past paper myself?+

Yes, and it is designed for that. The script comes back annotated against the published mark scheme with the mark allocation written beside each question, so a parent can see that four marks went missing on three questions that all asked for an explanation, or that two marks went on premature rounding. You do not need to understand the chemistry to read that pattern. What you will not receive is a copy of the board's mark scheme or past paper as a download, because those documents belong to Cambridge, Pearson or the IB and the correct route to them is the school's exams officer or the board's own website.

My child's school report says Good. Why does the diagnostic paper disagree?+

Because they measure different things. A school report blends classwork, effort, coursework and assessment into one judgement, which is genuinely useful to a teacher managing a class and close to useless for planning revision. A timed past paper marked against the mark scheme measures one thing: marks available under exam conditions. A student can be attentive, organised and well liked, and still lose a grade to command-term technique and rounding. The two numbers diverging is normal and informative. The diagnostic is not a verdict on the school or the child; it is the only baseline a revision plan can be built from.

How many marked papers should we expect before a June exam window?+

For a Cambridge June series, a realistic target from a September start is six to eight full timed papers per subject, with the first sat before any teaching and the last sat about three weeks out. Sitting more than that tends to crowd out the teaching that makes the next paper better. The sequence matters more than the count: a paper, marking, two or three weeks of targeted work on what the marking exposed, then the same question types again. Papers sat without the marking cycle in between measure stamina rather than build it, and that is the most common way revision time gets spent for nothing.

Does a tutor outside Dubai understand my child's school deadlines?+

Only if the deadlines are handed over, which is why they are asked for in the first session. The dates that bind a Dubai student are mostly school-set: internal Internal Assessment draft deadlines, Extended Essay checkpoints, mock windows, and the centre's own entry cut-off ahead of the board's. Those sit months before the exam. A tutor plans the block around that calendar once it exists on paper. Lessons run on Gulf Standard Time against the school timetable, so a 5pm slot is a 5pm slot in Dubai. What matters is the written calendar, not the tutor's postcode.

What exactly may a tutor do with my daughter's Internal Assessment draft?+

Read it and comment on it. A session can narrow a research question until it is measurable, teach referencing and uncertainty treatment, explain the difference between describing a result and evaluating a method, and return written feedback naming each criterion by letter with the descriptor band the draft currently sits in and what a higher band requires. Then your daughter revises it herself and it can be read again. What a tutor must never do is supply sentences, edit the draft into finished prose, or provide a model answer to the same question. The student is the sole author under IB rules, and the penalty for breaching that falls on her.

Is there any point starting eight weeks before the Cambridge June series?+

Yes, with narrowed expectations and a different shape. Eight weeks will not cover a two-year syllabus, so the block runs as triage: a full timed paper in week one, the two or three highest-yield topics identified from it, command-term and arithmetic-hygiene drills throughout because those recover marks fastest, and a second paper around week six. One decision has already been made by then, though, and it is the big one. Tier is fixed at entry, and Cambridge June entries close in the spring, so a Core entry cannot be revised into an A* in May. If that ceiling is the real problem, the conversation to have is about the November series rather than about more hours before June.

Which Dubai communities have the thinnest supply of Diploma Higher Level tutors?+

The pattern is consistent. Generalist primary and lower-secondary cover exists almost everywhere in the emirate. Higher Level sciences, Mathematics AA at Higher Level, Economics HL and coursework supervision thin out quickly outside the Jumeirah, Al Safa and Al Barsha corridor. Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens, Jumeirah Village Triangle and the Jebel Ali side feel it most, because a 4pm cross-city drive prices independent tutors out before the subject is discussed. Arabian Ranches and Dubai Hills Estate have reasonable IGCSE cover and sparse Economics and Business HL. Online delivery is what removes that geography from the problem.

How do you match a tutor to Cambridge 0580 rather than just to maths?+

By asking for the syllabus code before anything else. The statement of entry or the school subject list names the board and the code, and the match is made on that. Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are both called mathematics and differ in formula provision, tiering, paper structure and command-term habits. The same is true of 0625 against 4PH1 in physics. A tutor who has taught one and not the other will teach the content competently and miss the exam technique, which is where most of the recoverable marks are. The code takes ten seconds to supply and changes the whole match.

Do we need separate tutors for Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel papers?+

Not usually, but you do need a tutor who knows which one your child sits. Many subject specialists work across both boards; the difference is in exam technique rather than in the physics or the algebra. Where separate support genuinely helps is the Pearson modular route in some subjects, which allows units to be sat in different series and banked, and which changes revision planning completely. If your child is split across two boards after a school transfer, say so at the start, because the two timetables and two sets of entry deadlines then have to be planned together rather than in sequence.

What happens in the free trial lesson, and what do we get out of it?+

The trial runs as a diagnostic, not a sales call. Your child sits a timed section of a real past paper, the tutor marks it against the published mark scheme during or straight after the session, and you end up with the first annotated script plus a short written view of where marks are going and what the first three sessions would target. If you continue, that script is the baseline for the week-ten comparison. If you do not, you have an hour's cost of nothing and a marked paper you can use with anyone else. The trial is free with no card required.

How does a KHDA inspection band affect what tuition my child needs?+

Less than parents expect. KHDA, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai, inspects annually and publishes a judgement on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak. That judgement describes the school: provision, leadership, teaching and outcomes across cohorts. It cannot tell you whether your child sits in the group the provision is not reaching, or whether a strong overall band is carried by departments your child does not study in. For an individual learner, a timed paper marked against the mark scheme is the diagnostic. The band is a school-choice signal.

Will Arabic and Islamic Education still be compulsory alongside IGCSE in Dubai?+

Yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools whatever international curriculum the school is licensed to teach, with KHDA's current requirements to be implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and states combined classes are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. Support has to follow the stream the school has placed your child in, because the syllabus differs between streams.

Can sessions move to post-Iftar timing during Ramadan in Dubai?+

Yes, and most families ask for it. Dubai school days shorten during Ramadan and the useful study window moves late, so weekly slots shift to after Iftar, typically from about 8.30pm, and the session length often drops from 90 to 60 minutes while frequency holds. This matters for planning, because Ramadan can fall close to a Cambridge March or a Diploma May series depending on the year. The practical move is to front-load content teaching before Ramadan and keep the fasting weeks for paper practice and marking review, which is lighter cognitive work for the same mark return.

Start with a marked paper, not a map

If you take one thing from this page, let it be the order of operations. Photograph the statement of entry so the board and syllabus code are known. Book the free trial and treat it as a diagnostic: a timed section of a real past paper, marked against the mark scheme, returned annotated. Read the pattern of lost marks rather than the total. Then decide whether to commit to a twelve-week block, with the school's own internal coursework deadlines written into it from the start. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and the tutor is chosen for the paper your child sits.
