Best IB IGCSE Tutor in Dubai

Searching for the best IB IGCSE tutor in Dubai is really two questions: who can teach the paper, and what should that cost in dirhams. This page answers the second one openly, because almost nobody ranking for it does. Market bands by tier, who published each figure, what pushes a quote from AED 150 to AED 450, and the checks worth running before money changes hands. Lessons from IB Gram run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and the rate comes from a consultation once board, level and subject are known.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Nobody can sell you the best tutor, so price the work instead

No platform can honestly claim to supply the best IB IGCSE tutor in Dubai, and any page that does is describing its marketing rather than its teaching. Best is a fit judgement: the right board, the right level, the right failure mode, at a time your child can concentrate, for a price that survives twenty sessions rather than two. What can be published honestly is the thing this market hides. Of six competitor pages fetched and read in October 2026, three published no price at all, and two of the remaining pages quoted US dollars, a currency no Dubai family pays tuition in.

So the spine of this page is cost. Not our cost, because a rate quoted before the subject and level are known is a number pulled from the air. The market's cost, in dirhams, tier by tier, with the provider who published each figure named beside it and the date it was read. That gives you something a testimonial cannot: a range to test a quote against. If a tutor asks AED 500 an hour for IGCSE Core maths, the table further down tells you that sits two tiers above the published band for that work, and you can ask why.

The second half of the question is what moves a number inside those bands, and the answers are specific. Level moves it: Diploma Higher Level pays more than IGCSE Core everywhere in this market. Proximity to the series moves it, because January, April and the fortnight before a November sitting are the tightest weeks in the Dubai calendar. Session length moves it, usually in the buyer's favour, since a 90-minute slot rarely costs one and a half times a 60-minute one. Coursework supervision moves it, because reading an Internal Assessment against criterion descriptors is slower and more skilled work than teaching a topic.

Then there is the part of the price that is not teaching at all. Travel sits inside the hourly rate of any in-home visit, which is why that band starts higher and widens fastest. Platform fees and currency conversion sit inside a marketplace rate. Admin and materials charges sit outside some agency rates and are billed later. A tuition centre's per-student rate looks cheap until you notice it has removed the diagnostic that makes a session targeted. None of that is dishonest, but it is rarely on the page where the headline rate appears.

IB Gram delivers one-to-one lessons over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not make home visits in Dubai and does not send a tutor to any UAE address; home visits are a service offered only in India. That is relevant to cost as well as to logistics: with no travel to fund and no catchment to respect, the tutor is chosen for the syllabus code rather than for the drive, and the money buys teaching time instead of a car on Al Khail Road. The first lesson is free, with no card required, and it runs as a diagnostic on a real past paper.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Price in this market tracks programme and level more closely than it tracks anything else, including experience. Here is what each programme demands of a tutor, and why that shows up in a quote.

PYPAges 3-12 · Years 1-6

IB Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary units with no external examination, assessed continuously and reported against learner-profile attributes. Tutoring here is about literacy, numeracy fluency and English language support, and it sits at the bottom of every published rate band because the subject knowledge required is broad rather than deep. Session length is usually 45 to 60 minutes, because attention rather than content sets the limit.

Dubai PYP demand concentrates on English language acquisition for families arriving mid-year and on numeracy for children moving from a different curriculum. Published budget bands in the emirate start around AED 45 an hour online, and parents should expect the honest answer that weekly tutoring at this stage is often less useful than reading aloud at home for twenty minutes a day.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

Four assessment criteria per subject, each marked out of eight, converted to a 1-7 grade by published boundaries. Because most MYP subjects carry no external paper, tutoring tends to be about criterion literacy: understanding what an achievement level 7-8 descriptor actually asks for, and producing work that meets it rather than work that is simply correct.

Dubai continuum schools run MYP through to Year 11, and the pricing conversation here is usually about the Personal Project and the MYP 5 ePortfolios, which land in the same term. Mid-band rates apply. The expensive mistake families make is buying topic teaching when the problem is criterion interpretation, which takes fewer sessions and a different kind of tutor.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Three Higher Level and three Standard Level subjects, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Higher Level adds content and, in the sciences, a third paper. Internal Assessment is teacher-marked against criteria and moderated by the IB, which is why supervision work is priced above topic teaching almost everywhere in this market.

Diploma Higher Level sits at the top of the published Dubai bands, with specialist figures from AED 200 to 450 and above, and a premium tier beyond that. Demand concentrates in Higher Level sciences, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, and Economics, and it peaks in the weeks before the May session Dubai schools enter candidates for. Confirm every IB date with your school's IB coordinator.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE and International GCSE, both boards

Cambridge codes such as 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics and 0620 Chemistry, and Pearson Edexcel codes such as 4MA1 and 4PH1. Cambridge tiers most subjects into Core and Extended with Core capped at grade C or 5; Pearson offers a modular route in some subjects. Tier and route both change how many sessions a plan needs, which is the real driver of total cost.

IGCSE is the volume market in Dubai, where British-curriculum schools dominate by enrolment and most students sit IGCSE at 16 before splitting into A Level or the Diploma. Extended-tier work prices above Core in every published band. Cambridge allocates every exam centre to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version, so take dates from the school's exams officer.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Rates vary by subject as well as by level, and not always in the direction parents expect. These are the subjects Dubai families ask about most, with what makes each one cheap or expensive to support well.

IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The most consistently expensive subject in this market at Higher Level, because the supply of tutors who can teach Paper 3 and supervise an Exploration is genuinely thin. Standard Level costs less and needs fewer sessions. A tutor who cannot talk about the Exploration criteria is quoting for half the job.

IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Priced slightly below Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level and similarly at Standard Level. The hidden cost is calculator fluency: a student who cannot drive a graphic display calculator confidently burns sessions on button sequences rather than on statistics, and that is cheaper to fix early.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core and Extended

The highest-volume subject in Dubai tutoring, so supply is good and published rates sit in the middle bands. Extended prices above Core. Total cost depends mainly on whether the plan starts in Year 10 or in January of Year 11, because the second scenario needs twice the weekly contact for a smaller result.

IB Physics

HL and SL

Higher Level physics attracts specialist rates because the mathematics inside it defeats students who are coping with the concepts. Supervision of the Internal Assessment is the part that pushes a quote up, since a measurable research question with controlled uncertainty takes several reads to shape.

Cambridge IGCSE Biology 0610

Core and Extended

Cheaper than physics or chemistry to support, because the content is accessible and most lost marks come from command-term technique rather than from misunderstanding. A short block of six to eight sessions, built on marked papers, is usually a better buy here than a full year of weekly contact.

IB Economics

HL and SL

Higher Level Economics is scarce in Dubai outside the central corridor, which raises the rate. The three commentaries and Paper 3 quantitative work are the specialist elements. Group formats work less badly here than in mathematics, since diagram technique can genuinely be taught to three students at once.

IB Business Management

HL and SL

Mid-band pricing, with the cost concentrated in the Higher Level business research project rather than in the taught content. Case-study technique and command-term discipline are the recoverable marks, and both respond to a short marked-paper block rather than to open-ended weekly support.

Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies 0450

Core and Extended

One of the better-value subjects to tutor in Dubai, because supply is reasonable and the mark scheme is highly teachable. Students lose marks by writing general business sense instead of applying a named concept to the case, which is a technique problem with a short fix.

IB English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Priced in the middle, with the cost in marking time rather than in contact time. Paper 1 unseen analysis improves fastest with written feedback on timed responses, so ask whether marking is inside the hourly rate or billed separately, because practice in this subject is handled by different providers differently.

Arabic as an additional language

School-placed streams, Dubai

Mandatory alongside any licensed curriculum in Dubai private schools, and consistently underpriced relative to how hard it is to staff well. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, so support must match the stream the school placed the child in.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three commercial shapes, each with a different cost profile. The right one depends on how far out you are from the series and on whether the problem is content, technique or coursework.

Single sessions, paid as you go

Useful when the problem is narrow and identified: one topic, one paper technique, one coursework read. The hourly rate is the highest of the three shapes in every market model, and the total is the lowest, because you buy four sessions rather than a term. Ask whether marking time is inside the hour or billed on top.

  • Highest hourly rate, lowest total commitment
  • Best for a single diagnosed gap, not for a drifting grade
  • Confirm whether marking sits inside the session fee
  • No fixed slot, so exam-season availability is not protected

Termly block with a protected weekly slot

A fixed time each week across twelve teaching weeks, which is the shape most Dubai families end up in. It prices below pay-as-you-go per hour and protects the 5pm to 7pm slots that disappear in the weeks before a series. The real saving is continuity: no repeated diagnostic, and the same tutor reading the same student's handwriting.

  • Lower effective hourly rate than single sessions
  • Protects a slot through the exam run-in
  • One diagnostic rather than a new one each time
  • Ask how a missed week is credited before committing

Coursework supervision block

Short, scheduled reads of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or Personal Project draft, timed to the school's internal deadlines. Priced above topic teaching across this market, because reading a draft against criterion descriptors is slower, more skilled work. The student writes; the session returns written feedback naming criteria and bands.

  • Charged by block rather than monthly in most models
  • Timed to school deadlines, not to the exam window
  • Feedback names the criterion letter and the current band
  • No sentences are supplied and no draft is finished for the student

01

What best can honestly mean, and what it cannot

  • Checkable: board and syllabus code taught before, not just the subject
  • Checkable: a named failure mode after one marked paper
  • Checkable: a slot that survives the school run and the exam run-in
  • Checkable: a rate inside the published band for that level of work

Three of the six competitor pages read for this market in October 2026 describe themselves in superlatives and publish no price. Two publish a self-asserted star rating. One asks the price question in its own list of frequently asked questions and then declines to answer it. That combination is worth naming, because it tells you where the pressure in this market sits: on persuasion rather than on specification.

A tutor can be the right choice for your child on four grounds that are checkable before you pay. They have taught the exact board and syllabus code your child is entered for. They can describe the failure mode in your child's work after reading one marked paper, rather than after a term of acquaintance. They are available at a time your child can actually concentrate, which in Dubai means after the school run and before collapse. And the rate sits inside the published band for that level of work, so the plan survives twenty sessions rather than four.

None of those four is a claim about being the finest tutor in the emirate, and none of them needs a star rating to verify. They are specification, and specification is what this page substitutes for superlatives. A provider that will not give you a straight answer on board experience, availability and rate is not withholding a trade secret; it is managing a conversation it would rather you did not start.

The rest of this page is built to be used in that conversation. Market bands to test a quote against, the variables that legitimately move a number, the permit question in a form you can actually ask, and a scorecard for the first hour.

02

The Dubai rate card, in dirhams, with sources

Here is the thing this market does not publish. The bands below were assembled from competitor pages read in October 2026 and from a 2026 Dubai tutoring rate table, and each row names who published the figure. They are market rates and not an IB Gram price list, and they are hourly unless the row says otherwise.

Read them as tiers of work rather than as a quality ladder. The budget band is largely university students and generalists, and for homework supervision or consolidation at primary level that is a sensible purchase rather than a compromise. The qualified-subject-tutor band is where most IGCSE work sits. The specialist band is Diploma Higher Level, Extended-tier sciences and coursework supervision. The premium band is small, badge-driven, and the one where a parent should ask hardest what the extra money buys.

The in-home column behaves differently from the others and it is worth understanding why. Travel is inside that rate, not beside it, which is why the band both starts higher and runs wider. A tutor crossing Dubai at 4pm for a 60-minute session is selling ninety minutes of their day, and prices accordingly. That is a rational charge rather than a markup, and it is the mechanical reason in-home sits at AED 180 to 500 while a comparable online band sits at AED 150 to 300.

Monthly packages are the other shape visible in this market, and they need reading carefully. An advertised AED 799 per month for eight sessions works out near AED 100 a session, which places it in the budget band regardless of how it is described. In-home monthly packages seen in the emirate run AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour sessions. Dividing the package by the hours before comparing it is the whole trick.

What actually moves a quote inside those bands

  • Level, series proximity and coursework supervision push a quote up
  • Longer sessions usually lower the effective hourly rate
  • Group formats cut the rate and remove the individual diagnostic
  • Urgency and distance should not change an online rate at all

Six variables explain almost every difference between two quotes for apparently the same work, and only one of them is the tutor's reputation. Knowing them turns a negotiation into a specification.

Level is the strongest. Diploma Higher Level prices above Standard Level, which prices above Extended-tier IGCSE, which prices above Core. That ordering holds across every published band in this market and it reflects supply rather than effort: the number of people in or reachable from Dubai who can teach Higher Level Mathematics Paper 3 is small, and the number who can also supervise an Exploration is smaller. Proximity to the exam series is the second. January, April and the fortnight before a November sitting are when demand peaks, and a slot booked in September costs what a slot booked in September costs.

Session length usually works in the buyer's favour, since a 90-minute booking rarely costs one and a half times the 60-minute rate, and for Higher Level work it wastes less time on re-entry to a topic. Coursework supervision works against it, because reading a draft against criterion descriptors and writing useful feedback takes longer than the session it is attached to. Group size reduces the per-student rate sharply and removes the individual diagnostic, which is a genuine trade rather than a free saving. And the badge, examiner status or a named qualification, moves the rate most and justifies it least, which the last section of this page deals with squarely.

What should not move a quote: how far the tutor lives from you, if the lesson is online; how urgent you sound; or how many subjects you buy, unless the provider says explicitly that a multi-subject rate exists. Any of those three appearing in a quote is worth one direct question.

04

Provider models compared on what the rate excludes

Every page in this market compares itself to an unnamed set of other platforms. That comparison is worthless because the straw man has no permit route, no replacement policy and no published exclusions. Comparing models instead of brands is both more useful and more honest, so the table below does that: agency, marketplace, freelance, centre, school support, and this platform.

The columns chosen are the ones that cost money later. The permit route matters because private tutoring in the UAE is regulated and an individual needs a MoHRE private tuition work permit, while a centre with premises needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, which is a different instrument entirely. The replacement policy matters because a mismatched tutor in week three is a predictable event, and whether you restart the search or inherit a swap with the diagnostic carried over is worth real money. Exclusions matter because travel, materials, admin and marking are inside some rates and outside others.

The marketplace row deserves a note. Marketplaces quote in dollars, convert at their own rate, and rarely verify a UAE permit, which leaves the parent holding both the currency risk and the compliance question. That is not an argument against marketplaces; it is an argument for reading the invoice before the review score.

IB Gram's own row is deliberately plain. Lessons are online and one-to-one, no UAE premises exist and none is claimed, no regulator approval is held or implied, the trial lesson carries no charge and no card, and the rate is quoted at consultation once board, level and subject are known.

Is the tutor legally permitted to teach in the UAE?

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated and most pages in this market never mention it. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years, and the eligible categories named in the official guidance include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fee, states a two-working-day completion time, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Two consequences follow for a parent comparing quotes. First, nobody can charge you for a permit, because the permit is free, so a fee presented as a licensing cost is not one. Second, individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, and a figure circulating online could not be verified, so no amount appears here.

A separate rule applies to school staff. Abu Dhabi's professional-ethics framework for private and charter school staff has been reported as prohibiting teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's own code of conduct has been reported as barring service to students affiliated with the holder's school. Treat that as press-reported and verify it against the current policy document, but take the practical point: your child's own class teacher, privately and for a fee, is the arrangement most likely to create a problem for everyone involved.

IB Gram holds no regulator permit, operates no premises in the UAE, and claims no approval, accreditation or partnership from KHDA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. The table gives you the question to ask of any provider, including this one.

Scoring the first hour, so the trial is evidence

A trial lesson is the cheapest due diligence available, and most families spend it being reassured. Treated as an assessment instead, one hour tells you more than any rating. The table gives five things to watch, what a weak version looks like, what a strong version looks like, and why each predicts whether the money will be well spent.

The single most informative moment is what the tutor does with a marked paper. A tutor who reads a script and says your child needs to work on chemistry has told you nothing you did not know. A tutor who says four of the lost marks came from explain questions answered as describe questions, and that the fix is a command-term drill rather than a content re-teach, has diagnosed something. That distinction appears inside ten minutes and it predicts the next twenty sessions.

The second is whether the tutor asks for the syllabus code before teaching anything. Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are both called mathematics and differ in tiering, formula provision and paper structure. A tutor who begins without establishing which one your child sits is going to teach competently and miss the technique, which is where the recoverable marks are.

The third is the honest no. A tutor who says the Higher Level Mathematics Exploration is outside their experience and suggests a colleague has just saved you a term. Availability transparency is worth more than breadth, and no competitor page in this market discloses a coverage limit at all.

A TRIAL-LESSON SCORECARD — FIVE SIGNALS AND WHAT EACH ONE PREDICTS
What to watchWeak signalStrong signalWhy it predicts value for money

Coverage honestyClaims every subject and levelDeclines one and suggests who covers itDisclosed limits now prevent a wasted term later
What you leave holdingA verbal impression and a payment linkA marked script and a written three-session planOnly the written version can be compared in ten weeks
07

Price per hour against price per mark

Hourly rate is the wrong unit for this purchase and everyone uses it anyway. What a family is actually buying is mark movement against a fixed deadline, and two quotes with the same hourly rate can differ by a factor of three on that measure.

Consider two plausible Dubai plans for the same IGCSE Extended student. Plan A is thirty weekly sessions across the year at the mid band, with no diagnostic, no marking and content covered in syllabus order. Plan B is twelve sessions: a timed paper first, six weeks on the two topics the paper exposed, command-term drills throughout, a second identical paper at week ten. Plan A costs roughly two and a half times as much and may move fewer marks, because syllabus order is not the order your child's marks are leaking in.

This is why the diagnostic, the marking and the retest are not extras in a tutoring plan; they are the measurement that makes the spend accountable. Without them you are buying attendance. With them, at week ten, you can read two marked papers side by side and make a decision that is not a feeling. Continue, change tutor, change tier expectation, or stop, and all four are legitimate.

The corollary is a budgeting rule that saves Dubai families real money. Buy a short, measured block first. If the block moves marks, extend it. If it does not, the information cost you twelve sessions rather than a year, and you still hold two marked papers that any other tutor can work from.

08

What a premium rate should buy, and what it should not

  • Legitimate premium drivers: genuine scarcity and substantial marking labour
  • Examiner status is worth paying for only where it can be evidenced
  • No rate buys a grade, a points total or a university place
  • A self-published rating is not evidence; a marked script is

The top of this market is badge-driven. Examiner status is the most common badge, and it is the one that needs the most care, from the provider and from the parent. A tutor who currently marks for a board brings genuine familiarity with how a mark scheme is applied, and that is worth paying for where it can be evidenced. It does not bring access to papers, to boundaries or to marking in progress, and any suggestion otherwise should end the conversation rather than raise the rate.

IB Gram does not describe tutors as IB or Cambridge examiners unless current status can be evidenced, and does not use examiner status to imply access to assessment material. The honest version of the claim is narrow: experience of applying a published mark scheme consistently, which shows up in how a script comes back annotated.

Two other things a premium rate legitimately buys. Scarcity, where the subject and level genuinely have few capable teachers, and Higher Level Mathematics Paper 3 with Exploration supervision is the clearest example in Dubai. And marking volume, where the provider is reading and annotating substantial written work between sessions, which is real labour sitting outside the contact hour.

What a premium rate never buys is an outcome. No tutor can promise a grade, a points total or a university place, and any refund promise tied to a score needs its exact terms on the same page as the promise. Equally, a self-published star rating is not evidence: competitor pages in this market show different ratings and review counts in the same document, which is a reason to discount both. Ask instead for the four checkable things at the top of this page, and for a number you can set against the bands in the rate table.

09

Tuition cost against the rest of a Dubai school budget

Tutoring is bought out of the same household budget as school fees, transport and activities, and it competes with them. Dubai gives that comparison an unusually clean anchor this year. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package. A flat fee year is the context in which a weekly session is affordable or not.

The supply side is moving too. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places; six new schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose by six per cent. More Diploma places means more Diploma tutoring demand in the same labour market, which is the mechanism that tightens Higher Level availability in the weeks before a session.

Set against that, the arithmetic of a tutoring plan is straightforward once the hours are visible. One hour a week across a term is twelve hours. The mid band of the 2026 rate table puts a weekly one-hour session at roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month, and the specialist exam-year band at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above. A twelve-session measured block at the qualified-tutor band sits well below a year of weekly attendance at the same rate, which is the budgeting point the per-hour framing hides.

One figure deliberately absent from this page is an IB Gram price. The trial lesson is free with no card required, and a rate is quoted in the consultation once the board, level, subject and session length are known. A number published without those four attached is a marketing figure, not a quote, and this market has enough of those.

Where we tutor

What the quote looks like from each part of Dubai

Where a family lives changes an in-home quote considerably and an online quote not at all. That difference is the clearest single argument in this whole market, so here it is community by community.

Jumeirah, Al Safa and Umm Suqeim

The deepest local supply in the emirate, so in-home quotes here sit at the bottom of the published 180-500 band. Exam-season slots are the scarce commodity rather than the tutors, and a fixed weekly time booked in September costs the same as one booked in January.

Dubai Marina, JLT and The Greens

Dense residential supply but shallow Diploma Higher Level cover. In-home quotes are reasonable for IGCSE and climb sharply for Higher Level sciences, because the tutor is travelling from elsewhere and prices the journey in.

Arabian Ranches, Dubai Hills Estate and Motor City

Long internal distances and a 6.30pm realistic start. In-home rates run mid-to-high in the published band, and minimum session lengths of 90 minutes are common because a tutor will not drive out for an hour.

Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens and JVT

The corridor where travel time prices tutors out entirely rather than simply raising the rate. Families here are quoted the top of the in-home band or told no one is available, which is precisely where online delivery changes the pool rather than the convenience.

Mirdif, Al Warqa and Al Qusais

Good value in-home for IGCSE, thinner for the Diploma. Arabic and Islamic Education support is better covered here than in the newer western communities, and quoted at lower rates.

Dubai Silicon Oasis, Nad Al Sheba and Dubai Festival City

Newer housing stock with growing school capacity, and Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven more private schools across the emirate. Quotes vary widely here because local supply has not caught up with enrolment.

Sobha Hartland, Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

Apartment living with building access rules that add time to an in-home visit, which some tutors price in and some do not mention until the second month. Worth asking explicitly how a cancelled or shortened visit is charged.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Sobha Hartland, Al Wasl and Al Safa

A cluster of selective and semi-selective British-curriculum schools where tuition demand concentrates on IGCSE tier choice and A Level transition. Students we support here most often ask for Extended-tier sciences.

  • Hartland International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Safa British School
  • Safa Community School
  • Dubai Gem Private School

Jumeirah Village Circle, Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Family communities with newer schools and a wide spread of fee levels, so the tutoring budget conversation here is usually about total term cost rather than hourly rate.

  • Sunmarke School
  • JSS International School
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • GEMS United School
  • Arcadia Global School

Al Sufouh, Dubai Knowledge Park and The Greens

Established schools with long waiting lists and strong IGCSE-to-A Level or IGCSE-to-Diploma pipelines. Requests cluster around Higher Level sciences and Mathematics Analysis and Approaches.

  • Dubai College
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Regent International School
  • Emirates International School Jumeirah

School names appear as context for Dubai families reading this page and imply no affiliation, endorsement or commercial relationship; verify any school against KHDA's own published listing.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Write down the specification before asking for a price

Board, syllabus code, level, subjects, the deadline you are working to, and the two windows your child can actually concentrate in. A quote against a specification is comparable. A quote against a subject name is not, which is why most tutoring comparisons collapse at the second email.

  2. 02

Test the quote against the published bands

Put the number beside the rate table above. If it sits two tiers above the band for that work, ask what the extra buys. If it sits below the band, ask who is teaching and at what level of experience. Either answer is useful; the absence of one is the most useful of all.

  3. 03

    Ask the permit question plainly

Which permit applies to this tutor, and can it be shown? The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free and valid for two years, so there is no commercial reason to be coy. For a centre, ask for the KHDA Educational Services Permit number and check it against KHDA's own listing.

  4. 04

Take the free trial and score it

Use the scorecard above. Watch what the tutor does with a marked script, whether they ask for the syllabus code, how they describe coursework support, and whether they decline anything. Leave holding an annotated paper and a written three-session plan, not an impression.

  5. 05

Buy a measured block, then decide at week ten

Twelve sessions with a timed paper at the start and an identical one at week ten. Read the two scripts side by side and choose: continue, change tutor, adjust the tier expectation, or stop. The information costs twelve sessions instead of a year, and the papers remain useful to anyone.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Every figure here carries its publisher and its date

The AED bands are attributed to the providers and the 2026 rate table that published them, read in October 2026. Nothing on this page is presented as an IB Gram price, and no statistic appears without the count, the date and the method that produced it.

Models are compared, not brands

Agency, marketplace, freelance, centre and school support are compared on permit route, replacement policy and what the rate excludes. No competitor is named as worse at teaching, because that is not a comparison a parent can verify and not one worth publishing.

The permit question is handed to you in usable form

Category by category, which permit the official guidance names, who issues it, how long it lasts, what it costs, and the exact question to ask. The permit is free for two years, so there is no legitimate reason for a provider to be vague about it.

The trial is a diagnostic with a written output

One free session, no card required, built around a timed section of a real past paper. You leave with an annotated script and a three-session plan in writing. If the tutor is wrong for your child, you lost an hour and gained a baseline any other tutor can use.

Coverage limits are disclosed before you pay

Some Higher Level subjects and some Arabic streams have genuinely thin availability. You are told the realistic match time rather than booked with the nearest generalist. No competitor page reviewed in this market discloses a coverage limit anywhere on the page.

Delivery is stated once, plainly, and not softened

Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not make home visits in Dubai and never sends a tutor to a UAE address; home visits are an India-only service. Knowing that before you pay is worth more than discovering it afterwards.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How much should I expect to pay a tutor in Dubai in dirhams?+

The published bands read in October 2026 run from AED 45 an hour at the budget end to AED 650 and above at the premium end. A qualified subject tutor working online sits at AED 150 to 300, with one provider publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Specialist IB and IGCSE work sits at AED 200 to 450 and above. In-home one-to-one runs AED 180 to 500 because travel is inside the rate. Those are market figures from other providers, not an IB Gram price list, and a rate here is quoted once board, level and subject are known.

Why do two Dubai tutors quote AED 150 and AED 450 for the same subject?+

Usually because the work is not actually the same. Level accounts for most of it: Diploma Higher Level prices above Standard Level, which prices above Extended-tier IGCSE, which prices above Core. Coursework supervision prices above topic teaching, because reading a draft against criterion descriptors is slower work. Travel sits inside any in-home rate. Marking may be inside the hour or billed separately. Beyond those, the gap is usually a badge rather than a difference in the teaching, and the right response is a direct question about what the extra money is buying.

Does a higher hourly rate actually buy a better grade?+

Not reliably, and no rate buys a grade at all. A premium rate legitimately covers two things: genuine scarcity, where few people can teach the level, and marking labour sitting outside the contact hour. It does not cover access to papers, boundaries or marking in progress, and any implication that it does should end the conversation. The measure that matters is mark movement on identical question types across a measured block, which costs the same to generate at AED 180 as at AED 500. Buy the short measured block first and let the two scripts decide.

What hidden costs should I check before booking a tutoring package in Dubai?+

Six. Whether marking and feedback time sit inside the hourly rate or are billed on top. Whether travel is inside an in-home rate or added per visit. Whether a minimum session length applies, which is common for the outer communities. How a cancelled or shortened session is charged, especially in apartment buildings with access procedures. Whether materials or administration fees exist. And whether the advertised monthly package divides out to the rate you think it does, since AED 799 for eight sessions is near AED 100 a session whatever the headline suggests.

Is a tuition centre group class cheaper than one-to-one across a term?+

Per hour, clearly yes: centre group rates in this market run roughly AED 60 to 200 per student against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online one-to-one tutor. Across a term the comparison is less obvious, because the group format removes the individual diagnostic and the marked-paper cycle that make a session targeted. For diagram technique, command terms and shared content gaps, a group works genuinely well. For a student losing marks in a pattern nobody has identified yet, it buys attendance. A centre with premises also needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is worth asking to see.

Should I pay more for a tutor who says they are an examiner?+

Only where the status can be evidenced and only for what it actually provides. Current marking experience brings real familiarity with how a mark scheme is applied, and that shows up in how a script comes back annotated. It does not bring access to papers, grade boundaries or marking in progress, and nobody should imply that it does. IB Gram does not describe a tutor as an IB or Cambridge examiner without evidence of current status. If a quote rests mainly on the badge, ask what the annotation on a marked script will look like, and judge that instead.

How do I check that a Dubai tutor holds the MoHRE private tuition permit?+

Ask to see it, and ask when it was issued. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers categories including registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Because the permit costs nothing, there is no commercial reason for vagueness. For a centre with premises, ask for the KHDA Educational Services Permit number instead and check KHDA's own listing.

Will I pay more if I start looking for a tutor in January?+

Rates in the published bands tend to hold, but availability collapses and that has the same effect on what a family ends up paying. January, April and the fortnight before a November sitting are the tightest weeks in this market. The 5pm to 7pm slots go first, Higher Level science and Mathematics Analysis and Approaches tutors go first within that, and what remains is either an inconvenient time or a more expensive tier. Booking a protected weekly slot in September costs the same as booking one in January and is materially easier to get.

Does a 90-minute session cost less per hour than a 60-minute one?+

Usually, yes, and for Higher Level work it is also better teaching. A 90-minute booking rarely costs one and a half times the hourly rate in this market, and it wastes less time re-entering a topic, which matters when the content is cumulative. The exception is younger students, where attention rather than content sets the limit and 45 to 60 minutes is the right length regardless of the arithmetic. For in-home arrangements in outer Dubai communities, a 90-minute minimum is often imposed anyway, because a tutor will not cross the city for an hour.

What does coursework supervision cost compared with topic teaching?+

More, across every model in this market, and for a defensible reason. Reading an Internal Assessment or Extended Essay draft against criterion descriptors and writing feedback that names the criterion letter and the current band takes longer than the session it attaches to, and the skill is narrower. Supervision is usually sold as a block rather than monthly. What you should not be paying for is text: the student is the sole author under IB rules, so no tutor supplies sentences, finishes a draft or provides a model answer to the same research question.

How many weeks should I commit to before judging value for money?+

Twelve, structured so the judgement is possible. A timed past paper in week one before any teaching, six weeks on whatever that paper exposed, command-term and arithmetic drills throughout, and an identical paper around week ten. Then read the two marked scripts side by side. Anything shorter cannot show movement on the same question types; anything longer delays a decision you could already have made. If nothing has moved by week ten, that is information worth having, and it cost twelve sessions rather than a year.

Can one tutor take both my children to bring the cost down?+

Sometimes, and it depends entirely on whether they are at the same board, level and stage. Two children sitting Cambridge 0580 Extended in the same year group can share sessions productively, and the per-student rate falls to something near the group band. A Year 10 IGCSE student and a Diploma Higher Level student cannot share anything useful, and paying one tutor for a combined hour means each child gets half a session. Ask for a split arrangement instead: separate shorter sessions with the same tutor, which keeps the diagnostic intact for both.

Does the quoted tutoring rate include VAT in the UAE?+

Ask the provider directly and get the answer in writing, because the treatment is not something this page will state as fact without a Federal Tax Authority citation. The practical questions are narrow and answerable: is the figure you were quoted the figure you will be charged, is any tax shown separately on the invoice, and does the provider hold a tax registration number. A provider who cannot answer those three about their own invoice is telling you something about their administration. IB Gram quotes a rate at consultation and the quoted figure is the figure invoiced.

What should I get in writing before the first paid session?+

Five things, and all five are reasonable to ask for. The rate, the session length, and whether marking time sits inside or outside it. The cancellation and rescheduling terms, including how a shortened session is treated. Which board and syllabus code the tutor is teaching to. What the first three sessions will cover, based on the diagnostic. And the replacement position if the match does not work in week three. None of that requires a contract; an email is fine. What matters is that it exists before money moves, not after.

Why does IB Gram not publish its own price on this page?+

Because a number without the board, level, subject and session length attached is a marketing figure rather than a quote, and this market already has plenty of those. What is published here instead is the thing a parent can actually use: the market bands in dirhams with each publisher named, the variables that move a number inside them, and the questions worth asking. The trial lesson is free with no card required, and the rate is quoted in the consultation once the specification exists. That order round makes the quote mean something.

Specify the work, then price it

Write the specification first: board, syllabus code, level, subjects, deadline, and the two hours a week your child can genuinely concentrate.
