IB Coaching in Dubai

IB coaching in Dubai is quoted anywhere from AED 45 to AED 650 an hour, and almost nobody competing for this search publishes a number at all. This page does: the market bands with the publisher named against each, the seven variables that actually move the figure in this emirate, the extras that appear after you commit, and how to think about cost per mark rather than cost per hour across two Diploma years. IB Gram coaches one-to-one over live video, and the first lesson is free for one student per family with no card details taken.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Why nobody in this market will tell you the price

Of the best-ranking pages for IB coaching in this city, three publish no hourly figure anywhere and two quote in US dollars, which is not a currency a Dubai family pays in. One of them asks the price question in its own list of common questions and then declines to answer it. That is a choice, and it works for the provider rather than the parent, because a family that cannot compare numbers compares feelings instead and usually buys the most confident pitch rather than the right arrangement.

The spread is genuinely wide and that is the honest reason a single figure is misleading. Published Dubai rates run from around AED 45 an hour for budget online help to AED 650 for a premium named coach, and both ends of that range are correctly described as coaching. What separates them is not branding. It is whether the person marks work against the published assessment criteria, whether travel is being paid for, what the student's level is, how long the session runs, and how close the examination series has come.

This page is organised around the number because the number is what parents actually ask about and nobody answers. Every band quoted names its publisher and the month it was read. Where a figure could not be verified, including UAE fine amounts for unpermitted tutoring, it is left out rather than repeated. Nothing on the page is an IB Gram price list, and the only commitment made about money is a free first lesson with its single condition stated in the same breath.

The second half of the page does something the hourly rate cannot do, which is put the spend in context. Dubai families are already paying school fees, and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year under Dubai's second economic incentives package, valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. A coaching budget sits alongside that, and it is worth sizing against the school fee rather than against an abstract idea of value.

One structural point before the tables. Coaching for UAE families through IB Gram is delivered one-to-one over live video. There are no premises in Dubai and no home visits anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is a service offered only in India. That is relevant to the economics as well as the logistics, because the in-home premium in published Dubai rates is largely a travel premium, and removing the drive removes a cost without removing the one-to-one ratio that makes coaching work. It also removes the geographic limit on who can teach your child, which is the part of the in-home trade-off that nobody prices at all. A family in Jumeirah Village Circle paying a visiting coach is paying for availability within a radius, and for a minority Higher Level subject that radius may contain nobody suitable at any hourly rate.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Coaching costs different amounts across the three IB programmes, and the reason is the assessment rather than the age of the student. Where the work has to be marked against published criteria and moderated, the hour needs a specialist. Where it does not, it does not. That single distinction explains most of the price spread between the programmes below.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Grade 5

Primary Years Programme

No external examinations and no published assessment criteria to mark against, so primary coaching sits at the lower end of every published band in Dubai. What it buys is frequency rather than expertise: short sessions on reading accuracy, number facts and written sentence construction, repeated often enough to build fluency. Thirty or forty minutes twice a week outperforms a single long session at this age, and that changes the monthly figure more than the hourly rate does.

Dubai primary enquiries frequently arrive from families who have just moved emirate or country, and the first question is usually whether a gap is a real difficulty or a sequencing difference between curricula. Two short sessions answer that cheaply. KHDA's mandatory Arabic provision also begins in these years in separate streams for Arab and non-Arab students, and support there has to follow the school's own material.

MYPAges 11-16 · Grades 6-10

Middle Years Programme

Middle Years work is marked against four criteria per subject, each out of 8, and converted to a 1-7 grade by the school. That puts it above primary in the published bands, because a coach has to read criterion wording accurately, but below Diploma, because there is no external paper to mark to time. Most Middle Years coaching in Dubai is bought in short bursts around reporting points rather than as a continuous weekly commitment.

Grade 9 and 10 families in Dubai are often deciding between a Diploma route and a British route at the same time as fixing a grade, and a coaching budget set for a term should cover both questions. Ask the school which Middle Years subjects it enters for externally marked assessment before paying for an intensive block, because that changes what the hours should be aimed at.

DPAges 16-19 · Grades 11-12

Diploma Programme

The Diploma carries the real cost, and the Higher Level papers carry most of it. Six subjects, internally assessed components in every one of them, plus Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay, all on a 45-point total. A coach marking Higher Level papers against the published criteria and giving criterion-referenced feedback on internally assessed drafts sits at the specialist end of every published band in this market, and that is where the AED 200 to 450 figures come from.

Dubai's Diploma provision is concentrated in fewer schools than the surrounding British-curriculum sector, so demand for Higher Level coaching in a minority subject often exceeds local supply, and scarcity is itself part of the price at the top of the market. Online delivery is what keeps a specialist match available without the travel premium that published in-home rates in this emirate carry.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Not all IB subjects cost the same to coach, and the reason is how much criterion-referenced marking the hour requires. These are the subjects Dubai families most often buy coaching for, with the component that drives both the grade and the cost of supporting it.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The most expensive subject to coach well at Higher Level, because algebraic fluency has to be rebuilt question by question and the calculus papers need marking in the order the mark scheme rewards. Standard Level sits materially cheaper in published bands. The exploration adds a separate block of supervision time that families routinely forget to budget for.

Physics

HL and SL

Higher Level physics coaching is priced near the top of the specialist band in Dubai because the long-answer questions need marking rather than discussing. Unit and significant-figure discipline is cheap to fix and expensive to ignore. The internal investigation needs a measurable, controllable research question, which is usually one or two sessions of its own.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms account for most lost marks at Higher Level, and all three need worked marking rather than explanation alone. A student who memorised reactions without the electron behaviour underneath will need bonding rebuilt first, which is a predictable extra three or four sessions at the start of any plan.

Biology

HL and SL

Cheaper to coach than physics or chemistry at the same level, because much of the gain comes from command-term discipline rather than new content. The exception is the statistical treatment in the investigation, which is where internally assessed marks are most often left unclaimed and where a specialist hour earns its rate.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy and the final evaluation sentence carry marks students concede without noticing, and both respond quickly to marking. Higher Level adds quantitative work. The internally assessed commentaries need article selection supervised early, because an article that is too old or too broad cannot support the required diagram and theory later.

Business Management

HL and SL

The pre-released Higher Level case study rewards structured preparation spread across months rather than an intensive before the paper, which changes how a coaching budget should be phased. Quantitative content including ratio and investment appraisal work is where careless students concede the easiest marks in the subject.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The unseen non-literary paper rewards an explicit method most students have never been taught, and that method is teachable in a handful of sessions. The individual oral needs a global issue narrow enough to defend, which is a supervision task rather than a teaching one and should be budgeted separately.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Often cheaper to support than Analysis and Approaches because the gains sit in interpretation and calculator technique rather than in algebraic reconstruction. The trap is assuming it needs less support overall: uncommented statistics and weak validity discussion cost marks steadily across every paper.

Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay supervision

Diploma core

Priced by the block rather than by the term in most of this market, and genuinely different work from subject coaching. It is process supervision: a research question narrowed until it is answerable, criteria explained in their own language, deadlines held, and feedback given on drafts the student has written. Nothing is produced on the student's behalf.

Computer Science

HL and SL

A subject where a coach's rate and a coach's usefulness diverge sharply. Students who code well often write loose prose answers and lose marks on terminology, which is cheap to fix. The internally assessed solution needs a real client and a documented development cycle, and planning that in Grade 11 avoids an expensive crisis in Grade 12.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways coaching is bought through IB Gram, all one-to-one and all over live video. They cost different amounts because they contain different work, and the right one depends on where in the two years a family is standing rather than on budget alone.

Weekly subject coaching

A fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time on one subject with one coach. This is the arrangement that costs most across a year and delivers the most, because comparable evidence accumulates every seven days instead of arriving in a burst before a deadline. Most Dubai families start with one subject and add a second only once the first has visibly moved.

  • Same coach, same weekday, 45 or 60 minutes
  • A written note after every session, sent to the parent
  • Work set between sessions marked, not merely assigned
  • A four-session review that can end the arrangement cleanly

Component block

A fixed number of sessions aimed at one named component: an exploration, an investigation, a set of commentaries, the unseen paper, the Higher Level case study. Blocks are easier to budget than open-ended coaching and they force a decision at the end rather than drifting into a second term. They are the most common purchase in the second Diploma year.

  • A stated number of sessions with a named target component
  • Built from the student's own marked work and current draft
  • A written summary of what is still unsafe when the block ends
  • No automatic rollover into a further commitment

Exam-season intensive

A short run of timed papers marked against the published criteria, with teaching drawn from the marking rather than from the syllabus. It is the most efficient way to spend money close to a paper, and the least efficient way to spend it as a substitute for a term of teaching. We say which of those applies before taking the booking.

  • Papers sat to time at home, then marked in session
  • Error classes tallied across papers to find the repeat offender
  • Command-term drills built from the student's own lost marks
  • A written unsafe-topic list at the end to revise from alone

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What IB coaching costs in Dubai, in dirhams, with sources

Published hourly rates for IB coaching in Dubai run from roughly AED 45 at the budget online end to AED 650 for a premium named coach. Those are market figures from providers' own pages read in October 2026, not an IB Gram price list, and the bands overlap because the word coaching covers a university student revising Standard Level content and a specialist marking Higher Level papers to the published criteria.

Reading the table below properly means reading the right-hand columns rather than the left. A rate tells you what an hour costs. The session count and the indicative monthly figure tell you what a term costs, and that is the number a family is actually deciding about. A specialist at the top of a band seen once a fortnight can cost less across a year than a cheaper coach seen twice a week, and frequently achieves more because the marking is better.

Monthly packages circulating in this market give a second reference point. Published examples include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support.

What IB Gram does rather than publish a rate card is run the first lesson free, one per student and one student per family, with no card details collected. The reason is that the honest answer to what coaching should cost depends on a marked script nobody has read yet, and quoting before reading it is guesswork dressed as a price.

02

The seven things that move the number in this emirate

  • Level: Higher Level sits a clear band above Standard Level in every published source
  • Marking: ask whether criterion-referenced marking is in the hour or billed separately
  • Travel: the in-home premium in Dubai is largely a lost-slot cost
  • Timing: rates and availability both tighten close to a session
  • Scarcity: minority subjects cost more because supply is thin

A quote in Dubai is built from seven variables and they do not carry equal weight. In rough order: the level, whether the hour includes criterion-referenced marking, whether travel is involved, the session length, the proximity of the examination series, the subject's scarcity, and the number of students sharing the hour. A parent who knows which of these a provider is charging for can compare two quotes that look unrelated.

Level and marking are the two that matter most, and they are often confused. Higher Level content is harder, but the real cost driver is whether the coach reads and marks the student's own written work against the published criteria afterwards. That is slow, skilled and usually unpaid in the hour, which is why genuine specialists price above tutors who teach well and mark nothing. Ask directly whether marking is included or extra.

Travel is the variable that distorts published Dubai rates most and gets discussed least. A coach crossing the city at five o'clock gives up the next slot to do it, and that lost slot is in the hourly figure whether it is itemised or not. This is why published in-home bands in this emirate sit well above online bands for the same expertise, and it is also why in-home narrows the pool to whoever can physically arrive, which is a quality cost as well as a cash one.

The last three are smaller but predictable. Rates firm up as a session series approaches because demand concentrates. Minority subjects cost more because supply is thin, not because the teaching is harder. And sharing an hour between students divides the attention roughly in line with the headcount, which can be excellent value for revision and poor value for diagnosis.

03

Coaching cost in context: school fees and the 2026-27 fee position

A coaching budget in Dubai is never the only education cost in a household, and sizing it against the school fee is more useful than sizing it against an hourly rate. The context changed usefully in May 2026, when the Knowledge and Human Development Authority confirmed there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total.

The scale of the sector is worth knowing too, because it explains the supply of tutoring. Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 different curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of students, Indian at 26 per cent, US at 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent. A Diploma cohort that size supports a deep tutoring market, and it also explains why Diploma coaching is priced above the general tutoring market in this city.

The practical use of the context table below is to decide the shape of the spend rather than the amount. A family that can fund one specialist hour a week for two years is in a different position from one funding an intensive block in the final term, and both are legitimate. What neither should do is buy at the specialist rate for work a cheaper arrangement covers adequately, which is the single most common way money is wasted in this market.

Every figure in the table is either a market band already attributed on this page or a published regulator fact. There is no IB Gram price in it, because there is no rate card to publish. The free first lesson exists precisely so the conversation about money happens after someone has read your child's work rather than before.

04

Coaching for a score versus coaching for a component

Families usually ask for coaching towards a number: a 6 in Chemistry, 38 points overall, a specific university offer. Providers usually sell against that number, and nobody can honestly promise it. What can be done is narrower and more useful: identify the component where marks are being lost, coach that component, and let the number move as a consequence. The difference matters financially, because component coaching has a definable end and score coaching does not.

A Diploma grade is a composite. In most subjects it comes from two or three written papers plus internally assessed work, each with its own weighting and its own failure modes. A student losing marks on the internally assessed component and a student losing marks on the final written paper have the same disappointing grade and need completely different purchases. Buying generic subject coaching for either is paying for an average when a specific is available.

This is also where the honest limit on coaching sits. No coach can know grade boundaries in advance, no coach has access to marking, and anyone implying either should be treated with real scepticism. What a good coach can do is tell you which component is weakest from marked evidence, roughly how many marks sit in the identified error class, and what a realistic number of sessions is to address it.

The budget consequence is straightforward. Component coaching can be bought as a block with a stated end, which means a family knows the total before starting. Score coaching is open-ended by construction, and open-ended arrangements in this market are where the money goes without anyone being able to say what it bought.

05

Hidden extras that catch Dubai families out

The advertised hourly rate is frequently not the amount a family ends up paying, and the gap is made of items that are entirely reasonable individually and rarely disclosed together. Rescheduling rules, materials charges, minimum session lengths, exam-season surcharges, travel loadings on in-home visits and package expiry dates all change the real cost per useful hour.

Rescheduling is the biggest in practice, because Dubai family calendars move. A package with a strict cancellation window and an expiry date can quietly convert into unused sessions that were paid for, which raises the effective hourly cost without anyone changing a price. Ask the window, ask the expiry and ask what happens to a session cancelled because a child is ill, before any package is bought.

Materials are the one where the right answer is also a legal one. No provider should be supplying copies of IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade boundary tables as downloads, because reproducing them is a copyright matter and, for unreleased material, worse. A provider charging a materials fee for board documents is charging you for something they should not be distributing. Legitimate materials are the coach's own worked solutions, drills and notes.

Tax is the last one and it needs care. Treat any statement about the VAT position of tuition fees with suspicion unless it cites the Federal Tax Authority. The only thing a provider can usefully tell you is whether its own quoted dirham figure is inclusive, and whether it holds a tax registration number. Anything beyond that is somebody's interpretation.

Online, in-home and group coaching in Dubai, priced side by side

These three options are usually presented as a preference question and they are really an economics question. The same expertise costs materially more in a home than on a video call, and the difference is not margin. It is the slot the coach gives up to the drive, which in Dubai's late afternoon can be forty minutes in each direction.

Answering the home-coaching question honestly matters because it is what many parents in this emirate actually want. In-home one-to-one in Dubai is published in the AED 180 to 500 range depending on source, with Bestimate's 2026 table at 180 to 350 and home tutors quoted up to 500. Monthly in-home packages appear at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour sessions. For a family that wants a person in the room, those are the real numbers and they are not unreasonable for what they are.

The trade is also about who you can get rather than what you pay. A visiting coach has to live or work within reach of your community at the hour your child is free, which in practice means the pool is whoever can arrive rather than whoever is best at Higher Level Chemistry. For mainstream subjects the pool is deep enough that this rarely bites. For minority Higher Level subjects in the newer communities it bites immediately.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE, in Dubai or any other emirate, and home visiting is a service offered only in India. Coaching for UAE families runs one-to-one over live video, with the student writing on a shared whiteboard the coach annotates. The table sets the three options against each other without pretending that one of them is right for everybody.

07

Cost per mark: when in two years to buy the hours

  • Autumn of the first year is the cheapest point per mark
  • The final fortnight is the most expensive; technique needs time to settle
  • Hold a defined block for internally assessed work, which is schedulable
  • One hour weekly across a year beats two hours weekly for one term

The same money spent at different points in the Diploma buys different amounts of grade, and the pattern is consistent enough to plan around. Hours bought in the autumn of the first year are the cheapest per mark, because there is time for a changed habit to become automatic and because the content being fixed is still being taught in school. Hours bought in the final fortnight are the most expensive per mark, because technique has no time to bed in.

The counter-intuitive part is the middle. Many Dubai families hold their budget until the second year and then spend heavily, which feels prudent and is usually not. By the autumn of the second year the internally assessed components are live, the core is competing for the same hours, and a student's working habits are set. Money spent there is spent on damage control rather than on construction.

A sensible phasing for a family with a fixed two-year budget looks roughly like this. Spend a small amount early on diagnosis and on one identified error class. Spend the largest share across the first two terms of the second year on the subjects with the most marks at stake. Hold a defined block for internally assessed work, which is predictable and schedulable. Keep a small reserve for the final term, and use it on timed marked papers rather than on new content.

The arithmetic that makes this concrete is simple and worth doing on paper. One weekly hour across a school year is roughly thirty-five sessions. Two hours a week for the final term is roughly twenty-four. The first costs more in total and buys far more movement, which is the argument for starting earlier at a lower intensity rather than later at a higher one.

08

Higher Level or Standard Level, and what each costs to support

The single biggest determinant of a coaching bill is how many Higher Level subjects a student is carrying and whether they should be. Higher Level courses contain more content, carry more demanding papers and in most subjects add an extra component, which is why every published band in this market separates the two levels. A student taking three Higher Level subjects they are comfortable with costs less to support than one taking two they are not.

The level decision is therefore partly financial and should be made with evidence rather than ambition. Prior attainment in the specific skills the Higher Level course needs is a far better guide than general ability. A student who found algebraic manipulation uncomfortable at sixteen will not find Higher Level Analysis and Approaches comfortable at seventeen, and two years of coaching to hold a 4 costs more than a confident 6 at Standard Level in the same subject.

Some destinations require a specific level, and that is a constraint rather than a preference. The method is to read the published entry requirements for the actual course at the actual university, including UAE institutions, before the choice is locked. Where a Higher Level subject is genuinely required, the budget has to accommodate it. Where it is not, dropping a level is the single largest saving available to a family in this market.

The table compares the two levels on the dimensions that change a coaching plan. The final column is the practical one, because the two levels do not need the same number of hours or the same kind of hour.

09

Spending well in exam season without wasting it

Exam season is when most coaching money in Dubai is spent and when it is least efficient, which is an uncomfortable combination. The reason is that the work available in the last weeks is narrow: technique, timing, error-class reduction and confidence under pressure. All four are real and all four are limited in how much they can move a grade compared with the same hours spent earlier.

There is one exception, and it is the strongest argument for spending here at all. Timed papers marked against the published criteria produce diagnosis and teaching from the same artefact, which is the most efficient hour available at any point in the two years. A student who sits a paper to time, has it marked properly and is then taught from their own lost marks gets more from sixty minutes than from any amount of syllabus review.

What to avoid in this period is also specific. Avoid new content unless a whole topic is genuinely missing. Avoid adding a second subject in the final month, because split attention produces two marginal gains instead of one real one. Avoid long sessions, which exhaust a student who is already tired. And avoid any provider whose exam-season pitch includes a promised outcome, which is both unachievable and a warning about everything else they say.

The May session is the one Dubai schools sit, and the internal deadlines that precede it sit with the school rather than with the board. No specific IB date appears on this page because the IB's own site blocks automated checking and an unverified date in a revision plan is worse than none. Confirm every deadline with your child's Diploma coordinator before building a spend around it.

10

What no amount of money should buy

There is a part of this market where more money buys something a family should refuse. Operations in this search sell completed internal assessments, with one advertising finished work at AED 3,750. That is not expensive coaching. It is an academic honesty breach that exposes the student to a malpractice investigation reaching beyond a single subject grade, and the money buys the risk rather than removing it.

The line is clear and worth stating in full. A coach may explain what a criterion asks for in the criterion's own language, read a draft the student has written and say which criterion is not met and why, teach the content or statistics the work needs, ask the questions the criteria ask until the student finds the gap, and hold a schedule. A coach may not supply sentences, restructure a draft on the student's behalf, provide a research question the student then adopts, or edit work from one band into another.

The same applies to claims about examiners and boundaries. Nobody should be describing coaches as IB or Cambridge examiners without evidence of current status, and examiner status should never be used to imply access to marking, grade boundaries or paper content. If a provider's pitch rests on inside knowledge, the pitch is the problem.

What is left after those exclusions is a slower product and the only one worth paying for. Marked work, named error classes, criterion-referenced feedback on the student's own drafting, a dated record, and an honest view on whether the hours a family is considering can do what they hope. Send the subject, the level, the school and a recent marked script, and the first lesson is free for one student per family with no card details taken.

Where we tutor

What your Dubai community does to the price of coaching

Where you live in Dubai does not change an online rate, because nobody is driving. It changes the in-home comparison enormously, and it changes which hours of the evening are realistically usable. These are the communities where coaching enquiries cluster, with the local cost or scheduling effect each one carries.

Emirates Hills and Dubai Hills Estate

The communities where published in-home rates run hardest, because a late-afternoon crossing to these addresses costs a tutor a second slot. Families here frequently run two children in different programmes, and the saving from removing travel is usually larger than any difference in hourly rate.

Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers

High apartment density and a short tutor drive, so the in-home premium here is smaller than in the villa belt. The binding constraint is a quiet room rather than money, and 45-minute sessions with a written follow-up task work better than long blocks in shared space.

Mirdif, Al Warqa and Nad Al Sheba

Parents commuting back from Deira and the Creek side push usable slots past seven o'clock, which is exactly when in-home visiting gets most expensive. Evening online slots carry no travel loading, and this is the cluster where that difference shows up most clearly in a monthly figure.

Al Quoz, Al Safa and Umm Al Sheif

Dubai's learning-centre district, so families here can compare a group seat and an individual hour on the same street. Group rates look dramatically cheaper per hour and are worth taking seriously for revision, as long as the comparison is cost per useful minute rather than cost per hour.

Arabian Ranches and the Meadows

Long school runs and a Diploma cohort large enough that several students want the same paper in the same week. We keep every match individual rather than grouping them, which limits how much work we can take in a given week but keeps the ratio families are paying for.

Jumeirah Village Circle and Al Furjan

Rapidly growing communities where the nearest Diploma school can be a serious drive, so a family is often already paying in time before coaching begins. Minority Higher Level subjects are rarely covered locally at any price, and online access is what makes a specialist match possible rather than cheaper.

Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City

A mixed-curriculum area close to several higher-education campuses, with a visible supply of student tutors at the lower published bands. That supply is genuinely useful for content revision and genuinely unsuitable for criterion-referenced marking, and the price difference reflects exactly that.

Downtown Dubai and Business Bay

Working parents in the same corridor as the office, so the realistic slot is late and the session has to be short and efficient. This is the cluster most likely to buy a short diagnostic block rather than a term, and that is often the correct purchase here.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Schools where Higher Level demand concentrates

Coaching enquiries from this cluster skew heavily towards Higher Level mathematics and the sciences, which is the most expensive end of the market. Each school runs its own internal assessment calendar, so the same subject can need very different phasing of hours depending on which of these a student attends.

  • Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills
  • GEMS World Academy Dubai
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches
  • Repton School Dubai
  • Dubai International Academy Al Barsha

Continuum schools with large Middle Years cohorts

Enquiries here arrive in bursts around reporting points and are usually about criterion wording rather than content. That makes a short block the right purchase far more often than a weekly commitment, and it is the main reason Middle Years coaching costs a Dubai family much less per year than Diploma coaching does.

  • Uptown School
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Greenfield International School

Schools are named only as context for the Dubai IB ecosystem that students on this page attend. No affiliation, endorsement or partnership with any named school or group is implied, and IB Gram holds none.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Price the job, not the hour

Decide whether you are buying diagnosis, a component block, weekly subject coaching or exam-season marking. Each has a different sensible duration and a different band, and families who choose the arrangement first almost always spend less than families who shop on hourly rate alone.

  2. 02

Send marked work before asking for a quote

A recent mock, topic test or internally assessed draft with teacher comments changes a quote from guesswork into an estimate. It also tells you something about the provider: anyone willing to price a Higher Level plan without reading a script is pricing a hope rather than a job.

  3. 03

    Ask the extras questions once

Rescheduling window, package expiry, minimum session length, whether marking is in the hour, whether the rate holds in exam season, and whether the quoted figure is tax-inclusive. Six questions, asked before payment, that account for most of the gap between an advertised rate and a final bill.

  4. 04

Use the free session on the marking

One free trial lesson per student, one student per family, no card details collected. Spend it watching the coach mark your child's own work against the published criteria and explain the lost marks by category, then judge the written note that follows rather than the conversation.

  5. 05

Review at four sessions with the money in view

At session four you get a written continue, change or stop recommendation. Stopping is a legitimate outcome and we would rather give that recommendation than carry a family through a term that is not working. Changing coach, subject or frequency at that point costs nothing.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The numbers are on the page

Market bands in dirhams, by level and format, each attributed to the provider or source that published it and dated. This is the asset the rest of the search is missing: three of the best-ranking pages for IB coaching in Dubai publish no price at all and two quote in dollars.

The travel premium is explained, not hidden

Published in-home rates in Dubai sit well above online rates for the same expertise, and the difference is largely the slot a coach loses to the drive. Removing the journey removes a real cost without touching the one-to-one ratio a family is paying for.

Phasing advice that costs us bookings

Hours bought in the autumn of the first year move more marks per dirham than hours bought in the final fortnight. Saying so loses late-season work, and it is the single most useful thing a Dubai family can know before setting a two-year budget.

No rate card, and a stated reason

An honest figure depends on a marked script nobody has read yet, so the first lesson is free rather than quoted. One per student, one student per family, no card details collected, and that condition appears in the same sentence as the word free every time it is used.

A hard line on what money cannot buy

Completed internal assessments are sold in this market at published prices. We will mark, question and teach, and we will not supply sentences, restructure a draft or hand over a research question. The dated feedback log exists so a school supervisor can see exactly what was given.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What is the realistic monthly cost of IB coaching in Dubai for one Higher Level subject?+

Market estimates for weekly one-hour specialist exam-year support run from around AED 1,000 to over AED 2,000 a month, with the upper end reflecting criterion-referenced marking included in the hour. Standard Level in the same subject sits roughly in the AED 600 to 1,200 band. Published package examples give another reference: AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. These are market figures from providers' own pages, not an IB Gram quote, and the first lesson here is free.

Why do Dubai coaches charge so much more for a visit than for a video session?+

Because of the slot they give up to the drive. A coach crossing Dubai at five o'clock can lose forty minutes each way, which means the visit consumes the time of nearly two sessions. That cost sits inside the hourly figure whether it is itemised or not, which is why published in-home bands in this emirate run AED 180 to 500 while online bands for comparable expertise sit lower. The second cost is narrower choice: the pool becomes whoever can physically arrive rather than whoever is strongest in that subject.

Is a cheaper coach seen twice a week better value than a specialist seen fortnightly?+

It depends entirely on whether the problem has been diagnosed. If nobody yet knows why marks are being lost, the specialist fortnightly is better value, because diagnosis requires someone who can mark the work and the frequency is irrelevant until that has happened. If the error class is already identified and the work is practice and consolidation, the cheaper coach twice a week can be excellent value. Buying frequency before diagnosis is the most common way money is wasted in this market.

Which extras should I ask about before paying for a Dubai coaching package?+

Six: the rescheduling notice period, the package expiry date, the minimum session length, whether marking of the student's work is inside the hour or billed separately, whether the agreed rate holds during exam season, and whether the quoted figure is tax-inclusive. Those six account for most of the difference between an advertised hourly rate and the amount a family actually pays. Ask them before payment rather than after, and be wary of any charge for board-owned papers or mark schemes.

When in the two Diploma years does coaching money go furthest?+

The autumn of the first year, which is when almost nobody spends it. Hours bought early are the cheapest per mark because there is time for a changed habit to become automatic and the content being fixed is still being taught in class. Hours bought in the final fortnight are the most expensive, because technique has no time to settle. One weekly hour across a year moves more than two weekly hours in one term, even though the first costs more overall, which is the argument for starting earlier at lower intensity.

Does dropping a subject from Higher Level to Standard Level save money?+

Usually a substantial amount, and it is the largest single saving available to a Dubai family in this market. Higher Level means more content, an additional paper in most subjects and marking against higher demand, which is why every published band separates the two levels. The constraint is admissions: some quantitative degrees require a specific level, so read the published entry requirements for the actual course at the actual university before changing anything. Where the level is not required, a confident Standard Level grade costs far less to reach than a held Higher Level 4.

Can anyone in Dubai coach my child towards a specific IB point total?+

No, and an offer to do so should be treated as a warning rather than a service. Nobody has access to marking or grade boundaries in advance, and no provider can honestly promise a number. What can be done is narrower and more useful: identify from marked evidence which component is losing the most marks, estimate roughly how many marks sit in that error class, and propose a realistic number of sessions to address it. Component coaching has a definable end. Score coaching is open-ended by construction, which is how budgets disappear.

Are small group sessions worth it for Diploma coaching in Dubai?+

For revision of content a student already broadly knows, yes, and the per-student saving is real. For diagnosis or internally assessed feedback, no, because both require someone to read one student's specific work and adjust the explanation until it lands. A useful test is to ask how many questions your child asked in the last group session. If the honest answer is none, the ratio is wrong for them regardless of what the group costs. The efficient pattern is individual diagnosis first, then cheaper group consolidation.

How should I budget for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge?+

As a block rather than as a monthly commitment, because the work is finite and schedulable. Supervision here is process work: narrowing a research question until it is answerable, explaining criteria in their own language, holding deadlines and giving feedback on drafts the student has written. Derived from the specialist hourly band, four to six sessions comes to roughly AED 800 to 2,700 in this market. Budget it separately from subject coaching and schedule it backwards from the school's own internal draft deadlines rather than the examination window.

Does the price of coaching in Dubai rise closer to the exams?+

In practice yes, because demand concentrates into the same few weeks and the same evening slots. Some providers publish a higher exam-season figure, and others simply have no availability at the earlier agreed rate. That is one more reason the autumn of the first year is the cheapest point to buy, and it is worth asking explicitly whether a rate agreed now will hold in the final term. If the answer is vague, treat the quoted figure as an introductory one rather than a standing one.

Is Dubai coaching cheaper now that school fees have been frozen?+

The two are unrelated, though the context is useful. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for 2026-27, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. That affects the school bill, not the tutoring market, which is priced by supply and demand for specialists. What the freeze does give a family is a stable base against which to size a coaching budget for the year.

What should a Dubai family refuse to pay for, at any price?+

Completed internally assessed work, which is sold in this market with one operation advertising finished pieces at AED 3,750. The money buys an academic honesty exposure that reaches beyond a single subject grade. Also refuse to pay for copies of board-owned syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade boundary tables, which should be referenced and linked rather than distributed. And treat any pitch resting on examiner status or inside knowledge of boundaries as a reason to look elsewhere entirely.

Why will you not publish an IB Gram hourly rate on this page?+

Because an honest figure depends on a marked script nobody has read yet, and quoting before reading one is guesswork presented as a price. What we publish instead is the market: the bands by level and format, each attributed to whoever published it and dated October 2026, so a family can compare any quote they receive. The only commitment made here about money is one free trial lesson per student, one student per family, with no card details collected and nothing to cancel afterwards.

How many sessions should a Dubai family book to start with?+

Four, then decide. Four is enough to produce a diagnosis, two or three marked pieces of work, a named recurring error class and an honest view on whether the arrangement is working, and short enough that stopping costs little. Buying a term up front removes the one decision point that protects a family's money. If a provider will not sell four sessions, that is informative. At the end of four you should receive a written continue, change or stop recommendation with the evidence behind it.

Is online coaching genuinely as effective as paying for someone in the room?+

For one-to-one work the evidence that matters is what gets marked, and marking happens the same way on a shared whiteboard as on paper. What changes is the pool: online, a Dubai family chooses from specialists rather than from whoever can reach their community by five o'clock, which matters most for minority Higher Level subjects. Presence in the room is a real preference and some students work better with it, which is why published in-home rates exist. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that service runs only in India.

Get the number before you get the pitch

Decide which job you are buying, ask the six extras questions, and send the subject, the level, the school and a recent piece of marked work. We come back with a named coach, a session length and a fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time, usually within two working days. The first lesson is free for one student per family with no card details collected, and it is spent marking the work you sent. Coaching runs one-to-one over live video across every Dubai community, and if the hours you are considering cannot realistically do what you are hoping for, you will be told that before you pay for them.
