IB Chemistry Tutor in Jumeirah Islands

Chemistry is one of the few Diploma subjects where you can buy a short, defined block and see a measurable result, which changes how an IB chemistry tutor in Jumeirah Islands should be paid for. This page sets out the three blocks worth buying, what each costs on published Dubai rates, where chemistry money gets wasted, and what the scarce Higher Level slots actually cost in timing.

  • Three defined blocks with scope, session counts and an end point

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah Islands

Chemistry is a block-shaped subject, and that changes the budget

Most tutoring is sold as an open-ended weekly arrangement, and in most subjects that is the right shape. Chemistry is one of the exceptions, and knowing why saves a family here a considerable amount of money. The recurring problems in IB Chemistry are unusually well defined, which means they can be attacked in blocks with a stated scope, a session count and a visible result.

There are three such blocks. Organic chemistry taught as electron movement rather than memorised products, which usually takes six to eight sessions and ends with a student who can handle molecules they have never seen. Quantitative chemistry made reliable under time, which takes two or three sessions on a single fixed calculation layout. And the internal investigation, which is worth around a fifth of the grade and is almost entirely coachable.

Each of those finishes. That is the point. An open-ended weekly arrangement in chemistry can run for two terms without anybody being able to say what changed, and the monthly figure is the same either way. Bestimate's Dubai survey puts a weekly one-hour arrangement at AED 600-1,200 a month mid-market, so two terms of drift is a four-figure sum with nothing measurable attached.

The exception to the block logic is Higher Level depth, where continuity does matter. Spectroscopic identification, quantitative equilibrium and electrochemistry need sustained specialist teaching, and that is also where the supply is thinnest and the published rates highest: specialist IB tuition sits at AED 200-450 or more on Bestimate's figures, with TutorChase around AED 270.

On delivery, IB Gram teaches live online, one to one, on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are an India-only service and there is no centre here. With no school and no tuition centre inside the Jumeirah Islands gates, online removes a journey from the day rather than adding one, and it keeps the in-home travel premium out of the price.

One cost sits outside the tutoring budget and belongs in the same conversation. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package. That stabilises the largest education line in a household budget while you plan this one, which is a better position than families here have had for several years.

That premium is real: published in-home rates run AED 180-350 an hour on Bestimate's survey, with independent home tutors at AED 200-500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified online subject tutor. In chemistry the premium buys nothing chemical, because the work is mechanisms drawn and calculations laid out, both of which live better on a shared screen than on paper.

At a glance

  • Chemistry's recurring problems are defined enough to buy in blocks
  • Organic mechanisms: six to eight sessions with a visible result
  • Calculation reliability: two or three sessions on one fixed layout
  • The investigation carries around a fifth of the grade and is coachable
  • Lessons are live online; there is no UAE home-visit option
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

What support costs and what shape it should take changes by stage. These are the three points at which families here buy chemistry help.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

MYP Sciences

Criterion-marked across knowledge and understanding, inquiring and designing, processing and evaluating, and reflection. The cheapest effective support in the whole sequence, because two or three sessions timed to a real task, with the descriptors open, usually changes more than a term of content teaching.

These are the habits Diploma chemistry assumes, so money spent here reduces money needed later. It is also the stage families most often skip, because the marks have no external consequence yet.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Chemistry Standard Level

Stoichiometry, atomic structure, periodicity, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, redox and organic chemistry, with an internal investigation. Better staffed than Higher Level, so usually available at the qualified band of AED 150-300 and within the same week.

The block logic works especially well at Standard Level, because the common weaknesses are procedural: mole reliability, qualitative analysis and explanation quality rather than conceptual depth.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Chemistry Higher Level

The same topics extended, with more organic mechanism detail and stereochemistry, spectroscopic identification, quantitative equilibrium and acid-base work, and electrochemistry. Expect the specialist band and a quoted wait for a weekday early-evening slot in the spring term.

This is where continuity earns its cost. A term of weekly work from the first Diploma year is cheaper in total than an intensive programme in the second, and it secures a scarce tutor at the same hourly figure.

DPBoth levels

The scientific investigation

Independent investigation marked against four criteria for twenty-four marks on the current published arrangement, worth around a fifth of the grade. In chemistry it fails on planning rather than execution, which makes a single planning session before the laboratory the best-value hour in the subject.

The deadline is set by your child's school, usually a long way before the written papers. Families here regularly budget for exam-term revision and nothing for the component that was winnable a year earlier.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Topic by topic, what the work is and roughly how many sessions it takes. This is what makes chemistry budgetable in a way most subjects are not.

Stoichiometry and the mole

HL and SL

Moles, concentration, limiting reagents, percentage yield and gas calculations. The problem is reliability rather than understanding, so the fix is one fixed layout with units at every step and the limiting reagent written down. Two or three sessions, then it holds for the rest of the course.

Organic chemistry and mechanisms

HL and SL, with HL depth

Functional groups, reaction types, nucleophilic substitution, electrophilic addition and, at Higher Level, stereochemistry and more mechanism detail. Taught as electron movement rather than memorised products, this is a six to eight session block with the clearest before and after in the subject.

Equilibrium

HL and SL, with HL calculations

Dynamic equilibrium and Le Chatelier reasoning, with equilibrium constants and calculations at Higher Level. Standard Level loses explanation marks for not naming what the system is opposing; Higher Level loses calculation marks for not drawing the initial and equilibrium table out.

Energetics and thermochemistry

HL and SL

Enthalpy changes, calorimetry, Hess's law and bond enthalpies, with entropy and spontaneity at Higher Level. Sign conventions and using the mass of the solution rather than the solute are the recurring losses, and each is a single-session rule rather than a concept.

Acids, bases and buffers

HL and SL, with HL calculations

pH, strong and weak acids, titration curves and, at Higher Level, buffer calculations and indicator choice. Titration curve questions reward reading the curve's features rather than recalling a shape, and buffer work rewards the same layout discipline as mole calculations.

Redox and electrochemistry

HL and SL, with HL extension

Oxidation states, half-equations, electrolysis and, at Higher Level, electrode potentials and cell calculations. Balancing half-equations in acidic or basic conditions is a procedure that either works every time or fails every time, which makes it a one-session target.

Periodicity, bonding and structure

HL and SL

Atomic structure, electron configuration, trends and the link between bonding and physical properties. Explanation marks go missing when students name a trend without the underlying reason, which is the part the question is asking for. Two sessions of answer construction usually settles it.

Spectroscopic identification

Higher Level emphasis

Mass spectrometry, infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance used together to deduce a structure. It arrives late and is under-revised relative to its weight, and it responds very well to practice because it is a procedure applied to new data rather than new content.

Data analysis and uncertainties

HL and SL

Processing results, graphing, error bars and propagating uncertainty. The best-value topic in the subject because it earns marks in the written papers and again in the investigation. Students classify it as mathematics and skip it, then lose marks in two places.

The scientific investigation

HL and SL

Research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. A tutor may explain the criteria, help narrow a question, teach uncertainty treatment and comment on the student's own drafts. A tutor may not write, part-write or supply any part of it, and no price changes that.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three purchases rather than three products, each with a stated scope and an end point. All are live online, one to one, on Gulf Standard Time.

Organic mechanisms block

Six to eight sessions teaching organic chemistry as electron movement: where the electron density sits, what makes a site reactive, which bond breaks and why. Unfamiliar molecules are introduced deliberately from the second session, so the student learns the method is general rather than example-specific.

  • A fixed number of sessions, agreed up front
  • Mechanism types taught in a deliberate sequence
  • Unfamiliar molecules used as the test
  • Ends with timed past-paper questions

Calculation reliability block

Two or three sessions establishing one fixed layout for mole, concentration and limiting-reagent work, with units at every step and the limiting reagent written rather than held in the head. It extends naturally into energetics, buffers and electrochemistry, which are the same discipline applied elsewhere.

  • One layout, drilled until it is automatic
  • Sign conventions and significant figures policed every session
  • Extends into equilibrium and buffer calculations
  • Tested on timed questions, not on homework

Investigation planning and write-up

A block timed to the school's internal deadline, starting before any apparatus is booked: narrowing a question school equipment and a safe reagent list can answer, then processing data, propagating uncertainty and writing an evaluation. The tutor reads and comments and writes nothing.

  • Planning session before the laboratory is booked
  • Reagent availability and safety checked early
  • Criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Timed to the school deadline, not the exam

01

The three blocks worth buying, with session counts

This is the practical core of the page. Chemistry's recurring problems are specific enough that a tutor can state a scope and a session count in advance, which is unusual and is what makes the subject budgetable. A provider who cannot do that for chemistry has probably not taught it to a May session.

The organic mechanisms block is the largest and the most transformative. Six to eight sessions, taught as electron movement rather than as a list of reagents and products, with unfamiliar molecules used from the second session as the test. The before and after is visible: a student either can reason towards a product they have not been taught, or cannot.

The calculation reliability block is the shortest and the best value per session. Two or three sessions establishing one layout, used every time, with units written at each step and the limiting reagent set down on paper. It looks like fussiness and it is error-proofing, and it extends into energetics, buffer calculations and electrochemistry without extra teaching.

The investigation block is the one with the largest share of the grade attached and the one most often bought too late. Around a fifth of the subject grade, marked against four criteria for twenty-four marks on the current published arrangement, with research design carrying as much as data analysis. The first session belongs before any apparatus is booked.

The table sets out all three with scope, sessions and the test that shows whether it worked. Ask any provider to commit to something like it, because an estimate you can check afterwards is worth more than a monthly charge nobody evaluates.

What you cannot buy cheaply in chemistry

The published Dubai market runs from about AED 33 an hour to about AED 650, and in chemistry the bottom of that range is less useful than in most subjects. Tutopiya advertises from AED 33-52 and EdFlik from AED 45-65, which buys a person who sits with a student while they work. For a student who will not start their homework that has genuine value, and it will not teach a mechanism.

What the budget band specifically cannot do is the organic chemistry block. Teaching arrow-pushing requires someone who understands electron movement well enough to improvise with an unfamiliar molecule in front of a sceptical sixteen-year-old. That is subject expertise, and it starts at the qualified band: Unitors publishes IB tuition from AED 200 and IGCSE from AED 150.

Nor can it do spectroscopic identification, quantitative equilibrium or electrochemistry at Higher Level. Those sit in the specialist band at AED 200-450 or more on Bestimate's survey, with TutorChase around AED 270 and BartyED's premium examiner-led tier reaching AED 650. Treat examiner claims with care: current status is hard to verify and must never imply access to marking or boundaries.

What the budget band can do, honestly, is keep a student company through routine work and homework. If that is the actual problem, buying specialist chemistry at three times the rate is a waste. The question is which problem you have, and a marked paper answers it faster than a conversation does.

All figures here are the providers' or survey's own, read in October 2026, and none of them is an IB Gram price. We publish no rate card because the right number depends on the level, the block and the weeks remaining.

Two years of chemistry, costed as blocks

Here is the arithmetic for a Diploma chemistry student, using the published bands rather than any price of ours. The point is to show that a block-based plan has a visible shape and a predictable total, where an open-ended weekly arrangement has a monthly charge and no end.

A block plan across the two years looks like this: a calculation reliability block early in the first year, an organic mechanisms block when the school reaches organic chemistry, a planning session before the investigation, a write-up block timed to the school's deadline, and a technique block in the final term. That is roughly twenty to twenty-five sessions in total, spread across eighteen months.

A weekly arrangement across the same period is around seventy sessions. At Bestimate's mid-market monthly band of AED 600-1,200 that is a materially larger figure, and it is sometimes the right choice: a Higher Level student who needs continuity through spectroscopy, equilibrium and electrochemistry genuinely benefits from it.

The decision rests on the level and the diagnosis. Standard Level students with procedural weaknesses are usually better served by blocks. Higher Level students with conceptual depth to build are usually better served by continuity, with blocks layered on at the investigation deadline and in the final term.

Add two costs that are not tutoring and belong in the same budget: school examination entry fees, and the practical consequence of leaving the investigation late, which is a rushed component carrying a fifth of the grade. The second is the more expensive and nobody invoices for it.

Where chemistry money actually gets wasted

Five patterns, and they are specific to this subject. None of them is about choosing an expensive tutor over a cheap one, and the most expensive of them costs nothing per hour.

The first is buying content revision when the problem is reliability. A student who understands mole calculations and loses marks under time does not need the topic taught again; they need one layout drilled. Re-teaching a topic the student already understands is the commonest waste in chemistry and it feels productive while it happens.

The second is paying for organic chemistry as a list. A tutor who teaches reagent-product pairs produces a student who copes with the examples they were shown, which is precisely the student examiners are designed to catch with an unfamiliar molecule. You can pay specialist rates for this and get nothing durable.

The third is leaving the investigation until the deadline is three weeks away, when a fifth of the grade is at stake and research design carries as much as data analysis. The fourth is paying the in-home travel premium for work that is entirely paper-based. The fifth is buying a long package before the match has been tested.

There is a sixth that is not a waste but a risk. Anyone offering to produce coursework for your child is selling an academic-integrity breach rather than a service, and operators in this market do sell completed internal assessments at four-figure prices. That is not money spent badly; it is a threat to the qualification, and the consequence falls on the student rather than on the seller.

The table sets each out with the cost and the alternative. Ask any provider which of these they would talk you out of; the answer is informative.

Why Higher Level costs more, and what timing saves

  • Higher Level chemistry sits in the specialist band because supply is thin
  • Peak demand is weekday 17:00-19:00 in the spring term
  • September booking costs the same and gets a better tutor
  • Waits are quoted with a date, not described as busy
  • Tutors based outside the UAE are disclosed before booking

Price in this market tracks scarcity rather than difficulty. Teaching Higher Level chemistry well requires depth in organic mechanisms and stereochemistry, spectroscopic identification, quantitative equilibrium and electrochemistry, plus knowledge of how the investigation is marked. That combination is thin everywhere and thinner in any one neighbourhood.

Demand is also concentrated. Every Diploma family in Dubai wants a weekday slot between 17:00 and 19:00 in the spring term, and a specialist with four Higher Level students already has a full early evening. Requiring that the same person also drive into a gated community off Sheikh Zayed Road removes most of the remaining candidates.

The leverage you have is timing and it is free. A weekly Higher Level slot booked in September costs the same per hour as one booked in March and gets a materially better tutor, because in September the specialist's calendar is still open. That is how any calendar of one-to-one appointments fills, not a scarcity tactic.

We publish the position rather than imply unlimited supply. In the spring term, weekday early-evening Higher Level chemistry can run to a two-week wait, and we quote a date rather than a hope. Where a tutor covering a UAE family is based outside the UAE and teaches on Gulf Standard Time, we say so before you book.

The alternatives when a slot is not free are an off-peak or weekend session with the specialist you wanted, an interim start with a strong generalist and a stated handover date, or a wait. What you will not get is a confident yes followed by a quiet substitution.

06

The investigation: the fifth of the grade nobody budgets for

  • Four criteria, twenty-four marks, around a fifth of the subject grade
  • A workable question is controllable, precise, safe and theory-linked
  • Most failures are planning failures discovered in week three
  • Evaluation means assessing the method, not restating the result
  • No price buys a tutor writing any part of it

On the current published arrangement the sciences investigation is marked against four criteria -- research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation -- for twenty-four marks, and carries around a fifth of the subject grade. Criterion names and allocations are set by the IB and revised between syllabus cycles, so confirm them against your school's copy of the current subject guide.

In chemistry it fails on planning rather than execution. A workable question needs four properties: a variable controllable with school apparatus, a measurement precise enough that the change exceeds the uncertainty, reagents that are available and safe for a school laboratory, and an expected relationship connected to accepted chemistry so the conclusion can be discussed.

Most failed investigations breach the second or third. A rate judged by a colour change assessed by eye produces data too imprecise to support anything. A question needing a reagent the school will not supply produces a redesign in week three, under pressure, with the deadline unchanged. Both are avoidable in one planning session before any apparatus is booked.

Evaluation is where the remaining marks go. Students write a conclusion and label it an evaluation, restating the result rather than assessing which source of uncertainty dominated, which control was weakest, and what a different method would have improved. Two or three sessions of writing practice is worth several marks here.

On the limit: a tutor may explain the criteria, help narrow the question, teach uncertainty treatment and graphical analysis, and read the student's draft and name which descriptor band it currently meets. A tutor may not write, part-write, rewrite or supply any of it. Operators in this market sell completed internal assessments at four-figure prices, and the consequence falls on the student rather than the seller.

07

The hour you pay for, and the hour you use

  • Arrivals home here run from roughly 15:40 to 16:50
  • 17:00 is dependable; 17:30 for the longest commutes
  • Calculation work earlier; mechanism and explanation work later
  • Saturday morning is the only ninety-minute block in the week
  • Ask for your own route's timings, not a neighbour's

A session at the wrong time of day is not cheaper for being wasted, and in this community the risk is above average. Jumeirah Islands has no school inside the gates, so every child travels out, and the return leg usually serves two or three other communities first. Arrivals home land between roughly 15:40 and 16:50 depending on the school and the route order.

A 16:30 chemistry session therefore starts before a teenager has eaten or changed, and the first twenty minutes go on settling. At the mid-market band that is a recurring weekly loss for no benefit, and it is how arrangements end in week five with nobody quite able to explain why.

17:00 is the dependable start here, 17:30 for children travelling from Al Barsha or Al Sufouh. Chemistry splits by work type: calculation drilling belongs earlier, because arithmetic reliability is the first thing tiredness takes, while mechanism work and explanation practice tolerate a later slot and sometimes benefit from it.

Weekend slots are underused and are where long work belongs. A Saturday morning session is the only ninety-minute block in a week here, which makes it the right place for a full timed paper or for processing investigation data properly, with Sunday used to review what came out of it.

Ask the school's transport office for your own route's timings rather than copying a neighbour's slot, because bus routes are built around schools rather than communities and households inside the same gates differ by twenty minutes. It is a two-minute question that decides whether you are buying sixty productive minutes or forty.

08

What is not for sale at any price

  • No coursework written, rewritten or supplied at any price
  • No grade guarantees and no money-back improvement claims
  • No ratings published and no unsourced statistics
  • No reproduced subject guides, papers or mark schemes
  • No regulator or board approval claimed, because none is held

A page about cost should state the ceiling. We do not write, part-write, rewrite or supply any part of a scientific investigation, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or other assessed work. A tutor explains criteria and comments on the student's own drafts. Submitting work that is not the student's own is a malpractice matter handled by the IB and the consequence lands on the student.

We do not sell grade guarantees, promised score improvements or money-back schemes, because nobody can honestly deliver one. An offer of one tells you about the operator rather than the teaching, and in a market where completed internal assessments are sold openly that signal is worth attending to.

We publish no rating, review count or satisfaction percentage. Any statistic here would need its sample size, date and method attached, and we would rather publish nothing than a figure you cannot check. Several providers in this market show two conflicting ratings on a single page.

We do not reproduce or distribute IB subject guides, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables. They are cited and linked, and your child's school holds licensed access to what it needs. A folder of exam material offered by a tutor is a copyright problem rather than an advantage.

And we claim no approval we do not hold. IB Gram is not approved, accredited or licensed by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and holds no KHDA Educational Services Permit. Individual tutors in the UAE need a MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is free and valid for two years.

Where we tutor

Where chemistry students around Jumeirah Islands study

What differs between these communities is the arrival time and therefore how much of a paid hour gets used. None of them has an IB school inside it.

Jumeirah Islands

Gated villa clusters around lakes with no school inside, so arrivals home run from roughly 15:40 to 16:50. A 16:30 session loses its first twenty minutes, which at the mid-market band is a recurring weekly cost for nothing.

Jumeirah Islands Townhouses

The adjoining townhouse enclave with the same pattern. An in-home tutor's detour here adds travel without adding other clients nearby, which is one reason the in-home premium sits at the top of the published band.

Jumeirah Heights

Apartments and townhouses alongside, sharing approach roads. Marginally denser, which improves a visiting tutor's economics slightly and leaves the specialist supply unchanged.

Jumeirah Village Triangle

Sunmarke School offers the Diploma, so this is the shortest school run from these gates and the only one that makes a 17:00 chemistry slot comfortable rather than tight.

The Meadows and Emirates Hills

Established Diploma cohorts at Emirates International School Meadows and Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills, and the part of this catchment where the premium end of the in-home market concentrates.

Al Barsha and Al Barsha South

The largest school cluster within reach and the longest regular commute, which pushes these households to 17:30. A visiting tutor from this direction prices forty to ninety minutes of driving into the hour.

Jumeirah Lakes Towers

A short drive away, dense enough for tuition centres and group classes. The nearest point where a cheaper per-student option genuinely exists, which is worth knowing when comparing quotes.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send one marked paper first

It decides which block you need, and the blocks are not interchangeable. A paper showing correct methods lost under time points at calculation reliability. A paper failing on unfamiliar molecules points at the organic block. A paper strong on content and weak on explanation points at answer construction.

  2. 02

Ask for a scope and a session count

Any provider who has taught Diploma chemistry can state roughly how many sessions a named problem takes and what test shows it worked. An estimate you can check afterwards is worth more than a monthly charge nobody evaluates. We put ours in the table above.

  3. 03

Book the investigation planning session early

Before any apparatus is booked, not after. Around a fifth of the grade sits in a component where research design carries as much as data analysis, and a question that cannot be answered with school equipment is discovered in week three otherwise, under deadline pressure.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial session

A full lesson with the matched tutor on your child's own material, no payment and no card details. Ask how they teach nucleophilic substitution. An answer about electron movement is right; an answer about learning the reactions tells you what the block would actually contain.

  5. 05

Review on a timed paper at the end of the block

Each block has a test attached: can the student derive a product for an unseen molecule, do calculations survive timed conditions, does the evaluation assess the method. If the test fails, the diagnosis or the match was wrong and we change one rather than extending.

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Scope and session counts stated in advance

Chemistry's recurring problems are defined enough to quote a session count and a test for, which is unusual and is what makes the subject budgetable. A provider who cannot do that has probably not taken students through this course to a May session.

Advice that shortens the invoice

We will tell you that a Standard Level student with procedural weaknesses needs blocks rather than a weekly arrangement, and that the budget band is the right purchase if the real problem is not starting homework. Both reduce what you spend with us.

The AED rates here belong to the providers and survey that published them, read in October 2026. Three of the six strongest competitor pages in this market publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars at families who transact in dirhams.

No travel premium in the price

Mechanisms and calculation layouts are paper work and live better on a shared screen. Published in-home rates run AED 180-500 an hour against AED 150-300 for a qualified online subject tutor, and in chemistry the difference buys nothing chemical.

Higher Level scarcity priced and dated honestly

Spectroscopy, quantitative equilibrium and electrochemistry need a specialist, and in the spring term a weekday early-evening slot can mean a two-week wait. We quote a date and offer alternatives rather than substituting quietly.

A published ceiling on what money buys

No part of the investigation written, no grades guaranteed, no papers supplied, no approvals claimed, no unsourced statistics. On a page about cost, the list of things not for sale is the most useful section on it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah Islands: your questions answered

Is it cheaper to buy chemistry help in blocks rather than weekly?+

For most Standard Level students, yes, and it is also more measurable. The recurring problems are defined: an organic mechanisms block of six to eight sessions, a calculation reliability block of two or three, an investigation planning session and a write-up block. Each has an end and a test. A weekly arrangement at Bestimate's mid-market band of AED 600-1,200 a month can run two terms without anyone being able to say what changed. Higher Level students with conceptual depth to build are the exception, where continuity earns its cost.

How many sessions does the organic chemistry problem take to fix?+

Six to eight, if it is taught properly. The work is teaching organic chemistry as electron movement rather than as reagent-product pairs: where the electron density sits, what makes a site reactive, which bond breaks and in which direction. Unfamiliar molecules are introduced from the second session as the test. The before and after is unusually visible, because a student either can reason towards a product they have never been taught or cannot, and examiners design questions to find out.

Why would we pay specialist rates rather than budget rates?+

Because the budget band cannot do the work that moves a chemistry grade. Tutopiya advertises from AED 33-52 and EdFlik from AED 45-65, which buys someone sitting with a student while they work, and that has real value if the problem is not starting homework. Teaching arrow-pushing, spectroscopic identification or quantitative equilibrium requires expertise that starts at the qualified band of AED 150-300 and sits at AED 200-450 or more for Higher Level specialist work.

What does leaving the investigation late actually cost?+

Around a fifth of the subject grade, partially. It is marked against four criteria for twenty-four marks on the current published arrangement, with research design carrying as much as data analysis, so a question framed badly cannot be rescued by careful graphing afterwards. The failures are predictable: a measurement too coarse for the effect, or a reagent the school will not supply, both discovered in week three. One planning session before the apparatus is booked prevents it.

Do chemistry tutors visit homes in Jumeirah Islands?+

Not through us. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; that service runs in India only, and there is no centre here either. Chemistry tuition for families inside these gates is live online, one tutor to one student, on Gulf Standard Time, with a shared surface for mechanisms and calculation layouts. Published in-home rates in Dubai run AED 180-350 on Bestimate's survey and AED 200-500 for independent home tutors, and that premium buys travel rather than chemistry.

Our child understands the mole work but loses marks in tests. What should we buy?+

The calculation reliability block, which is two or three sessions and the best value per session in the subject. The problem is not comprehension; it is that the method is not automatic, so under time pressure a student who lays calculations out differently each time loses track of what each number represents and cannot check their own work. One fixed layout with units at every step and the limiting reagent written down fixes it, and it extends into energetics and buffers.

How much should a Higher Level chemistry year cost us?+

Using published bands, a weekly arrangement at the specialist end sits at Bestimate's AED 1,000-2,000 or more a month for exam-year support in one subject, and mid-market weekly work at AED 600-1,200. A block-based plan across two years runs to roughly twenty to twenty-five sessions in total. Which is right depends on the diagnosis: Higher Level students building conceptual depth through spectroscopy and equilibrium usually need continuity, with blocks layered on at the investigation deadline.

Why is a Higher Level chemistry slot hard to get in the spring?+

Because the specialism is thin and demand concentrates. Teaching it well needs organic mechanism depth, stereochemistry, spectroscopy, quantitative equilibrium and electrochemistry, plus knowledge of how the investigation is marked, and a tutor with four Higher Level students already has a full early evening. Every Diploma family in Dubai wants a weekday slot between 17:00 and 19:00 in the spring term. We quote a date rather than describing ourselves as busy.

Does booking earlier in the year actually save money?+

It saves outcome rather than cash, and the cash follows. The hourly figure is the same in September and March; the tutor available is not, because in September the specialist's early evenings are still open. Starting early also avoids the compounding that makes late help expensive: chemistry builds bonding into organic reactivity and energetics into equilibrium, so a weak early topic resurfaces repeatedly. Both effects mean the same money buys more when spent sooner.

Can a block fix explanation marks as well as calculation marks?+

Yes, and it is a short one. Two or three sessions of answer construction against real mark schemes usually settles it. The pattern is consistent: students name a trend or a result without the underlying reason, where the question is asking for the mechanism. In equilibrium work they say the position shifts without naming what the system is opposing. That is a writing and reasoning habit rather than a knowledge gap, and it responds quickly once someone insists on it.

What is the single cheapest useful thing we could do?+

Ask the school for the investigation deadline and the assessment calendar, which costs nothing and is the date that actually governs the year. After that, a single diagnostic session with a marked paper, which tells you which of the three blocks you need and whether you need any of them. Some families take that session and discover their child is secure, which is a legitimate outcome and one we would rather reach early than slowly.

Can one tutor do chemistry and biology to save money?+

At Standard Level often, and it can work well because both reward command-term precision and share data-handling skills. At Higher Level we generally advise separate tutors, since genuine depth in Higher Level organic chemistry and Higher Level biology is rare in one person and a tutor stretched across both tends to be strong in one. Ask which level they have taught each subject to, then ask a specific question in each: the spectroscopy question tests the chemistry claim.

What time should chemistry sessions be from these gates?+

17:00, or 17:30 if your child comes back from Al Barsha or Al Sufouh, because with no school inside Jumeirah Islands every pupil travels out and arrives home between roughly 15:40 and 16:50. Split by work type: calculation drilling earlier, when arithmetic reliability is best, and mechanism or explanation work later, where 19:30 can suit a second-year student. Keep Saturday morning for a full timed paper or for processing investigation data.

Is a group class a cheaper way to cover chemistry?+

For a shared gap it can be genuinely good value, and the nearest density for group provision from these gates is around Jumeirah Lakes Towers. A class on mole calculations or on qualitative analysis works because everyone needs the same thing. It stops working for a student whose problem is their own pattern of errors, because the hour runs on someone else's weakness. If you use a centre in Dubai, premises-based training institutes require a KHDA Educational Services Permit.

What would make you tell us not to buy a block?+

Several things. If a marked paper shows the student is secure and the issue was one bad test, we say so. If the real problem is that your child has not attempted their own teacher's homework for three weeks, a tutor makes it worse rather than better and the conversation belongs with the school. And if a subject has too few weeks left for the block's test to be meaningful, we would rather say that than sell the sessions.

Buy a block with a test attached

If you are pricing an IB chemistry tutor in Jumeirah Islands, treat this subject differently from the rest. Send one marked paper so the right block can be identified, ask any provider for a scope, a session count and the test that will show it worked, and book the investigation planning session before any apparatus is booked rather than three weeks before the deadline. Published Dubai rates run from AED 33 to AED 650 an hour and the band that moves chemistry grades is narrower than that. Our lessons are live online, one to one, with a free trial first.
