The price of 4AC1 help in Dubai, and what you are actually buying

Three of the six pages currently ranking for Accounting tuition in Dubai publish no price at all. Two quote in US dollars, a currency no Dubai family pays a tutor in. This page starts in dirhams because that is the first question every parent asks and the last one the market answers. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Accounting carries the code 4AC1, it is examined by written paper with no coursework component, and the going rate for one-to-one teaching on it in Dubai sits in a band wide enough that two families can pay AED 120 and AED 480 for the same hour and both believe they got a fair deal.

The band is wide because an Accounting hour is not one commodity. A university student who sat the subject themselves three years ago, teaching from a textbook, is selling supervision. A teacher who has marked stacks of scripts on this specification is selling diagnosis: the ability to look at a candidate's trial balance and name which standard error type produced the difference, then build the next forty minutes around that single fault. Both appear in the same search results. Neither advertises which one they are, and the hourly figure alone will not tell you.

What moves the number in Dubai is specific to Dubai. The emirate has 227 private schools serving 387,441 pupils across 17 curricula, with 37 per cent of those pupils on a UK curriculum. The Accounting cohort is therefore large in total but thin on each campus. Few schools time-table more than one Accounting teacher, so when a Year 11 group loses its specialist mid-year the demand for private help spikes inside one community, and in-home rates in that cluster follow the shortage. Online delivery flattens that curve, because the pool is no longer limited to whoever can reach Al Barsha by half past four.

KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai will not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. For a household already paying those fees, the freeze is the backdrop against which a tutoring decision gets made: the school line is fixed, so the discretionary education spend is where the arithmetic happens. Knowing the market band, and knowing what makes one hour worth more than another, is the difference between buying teaching and buying attendance.

Everything below is costed, dated and attributed. Where a figure comes from a published provider rate it is described by provider model and the month it was checked, not by brand name. Where a figure would be ours, it is not published at all: IB Gram quotes after a free trial lesson rather than from a price list, and a number invented for a landing page would be worse than silence. What follows instead is the specification, the error patterns, the Pearson calendar and the permit position, which together decide whether the hour you pay for comes back as marks.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Accounting sits at one point in a longer route: an option chosen in Year 9, examined at 16, then either dropped or carried into a post-16 course that assumes it. The stages below are where a 4AC1 decision actually gets made, and each one changes what an hour of teaching should be spent on.

Year 9Ages 13-14 · Year 9

The option block that leads to Accounting

Accounting is almost never compulsory. It appears in a Year 9 option column alongside Business, Economics and a second language, and the choice is usually made on a twenty-minute conversation at an options evening. Families pick it because it sounds practical, then discover in Year 10 that it rewards procedural accuracy far more than commercial instinct. An hour of teaching at this stage is worth spending on whether the subject suits the candidate at all.

In Dubai the option conversation is complicated by the fact that many British-curriculum schools offer Business Studies and Accounting in the same block, forcing a choice between them. Schools inspected by KHDA publish their option booklets in the spring term, and the Accounting group in a single Dubai campus is often small enough that the subject runs only if enough pupils choose it. Asking the head of department how many sat it last series is a fair question.

4AC1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Accounting

The qualification itself: double entry, the books of original entry, control accounts, year-end adjustments, the financial statements of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, manufacturing accounts, incomplete records, and ratio analysis. Assessment is by written paper, split across two components, with no coursework and no internally assessed element. That matters for tutoring, because every mark is won in exam conditions rather than in a portfolio built over months.

Dubai schools entering 4AC1 do so through their own Pearson centre number, and the entry is made by the school's exams officer, not by the family. Ask which series your child is entered for and get the code confirmed in writing: a candidate preparing from Cambridge 0452 material for a Pearson 4AC1 entry will meet question styles they have never practised. The two specifications cover similar ground but ask for it differently.

Post-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

Where 4AC1 leads after Year 11

A good 4AC1 grade opens A Level Accounting where a school offers it, A Level Business or Economics where it does not, BTEC Business, or IB Diploma Business Management and Economics. None of those courses formally require Accounting at 16. What they assume is comfort with structured numerical reasoning and the discipline of showing workings, both of which 4AC1 trains hard.

Dubai's post-16 market splits sharply: most British-curriculum schools run A Levels, a growing group runs the IB Diploma, and 2026-27 adds seven new private schools to the emirate, four on a UK curriculum and three offering the International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places. A candidate who may move between those routes benefits from understanding why the same ratio is read differently in A Level Accounting and in IB Business Management.

PrivateAny age · outside a school entry

Sitting 4AC1 as a private candidate

Some families in Dubai sit Accounting outside their child's school entry, usually because the school does not offer the subject or the timetable will not carry it. A private candidate finds an examination centre that accepts external entries, pays that centre's entry and administration fee directly, and meets the same deadlines a school candidate does without a school chasing them.

The practical constraint in Dubai is centre availability rather than the specification. Entry fees for private candidates are set by the centre and vary, so collect two or three written quotes before committing, and confirm that the centre is approved to run the Pearson International GCSE series you want. The family carries the admin burden here: registration dates, identity documents and the timetable are all yours to track.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

A 4AC1 grade is decided in a small number of places. The areas below are where candidates in the Dubai cohort most often lose marks, each with what the paper is actually testing and what an hour of teaching should fix first.

Double entry and the books of original entry

4AC1 foundation content

Day books, the cash book, the petty cash imprest system and the three-column ledger. Candidates who learned the rule as a slogan rather than as a model of two accounts moving together make consistent, predictable errors here, and those errors propagate into every later statement.

The trial balance and correction of errors

4AC1 Paper 1 and Paper 2

A difference on the trial balance has a short list of possible causes. Knowing which error types a trial balance can detect, and which it cannot, converts a guessing question into a procedure. Marks are lost by correcting the symptom in the wrong account rather than reversing the original entry.

Control accounts and bank reconciliation

4AC1 Paper 1 and Paper 2

Sales and purchases ledger control accounts, and the reconciliation between the cash book and the bank statement. These questions reward candidates who can hold two records side by side and explain a difference rather than force it to zero. Timing differences and unpresented cheques are the usual sticking point.

Depreciation and asset disposal

4AC1 year-end adjustments

Straight line and reducing balance methods, the provision for depreciation account, and the profit or loss on disposal. Candidates routinely calculate the charge correctly and then post it to the wrong side, or forget that the disposal removes both the cost and the accumulated depreciation.

Accruals, prepayments and irrecoverable debts

4AC1 year-end adjustments

The adjustments that turn a cash record into a profit figure. Each one touches both the income statement and the statement of financial position, and the mark scheme follows both. Most lost marks come from adjusting one and not the other, or from the sign going the wrong way.

Financial statements of sole traders

4AC1 core assessment

Income statement and statement of financial position, prepared from a trial balance plus a list of adjustments. The format itself carries marks: headings, subtotals, the order of current assets, and the treatment of drawings. Presentation is not decoration in this paper, it is assessed.

Partnership accounts

4AC1 extension content

Appropriation accounts, interest on capital, partners' salaries, and current versus capital accounts. The arithmetic is modest; the difficulty is keeping the partnership agreement's terms straight and applying them in the order the question gives them rather than the order the candidate remembers.

Limited company accounts

4AC1 extension content

Share capital, reserves, and the statement of changes in equity in the form the specification expects at this level. Candidates who have met company accounts only through newspaper coverage bring assumptions that do not match the required layout, and lose marks on structure before they lose any on calculation.

Manufacturing accounts and incomplete records

4AC1 applied content

Prime cost, factory overheads and the transfer to the income statement; then the reverse problem, reconstructing figures from fragments using mark-up, margin and control totals. Incomplete records questions are where strong candidates separate themselves, because they require working backwards confidently.

Ratio analysis and interpretation

4AC1 higher-tariff questions

Profitability, liquidity and efficiency ratios, then the written interpretation. Calculation marks are usually secured; the interpretation marks are usually not. The paper wants a comparison, a cause and a consequence for the business, in that order, and candidates stop after the comparison.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes of support cover almost every 4AC1 request from Dubai. The right one depends on how far through the specification the candidate is and how close the Pearson series sits, not on which package looks fuller.

Weekly one-to-one across Years 10 and 11

One hour a week over live video, following the school's own scheme of work so the session consolidates what was taught that week rather than running a parallel course. The teacher keeps a running list of the error types that recur for this candidate and returns to them on a cycle, which is how a procedural fault actually gets unlearned.

  • Session follows the school's topic order, not a generic syllabus sweep
  • A short timed question every week, marked against the published criteria
  • Written note after each session naming what moved and what did not
  • Rolling error log carried from week to week

Pre-series intensive before a Pearson window

A short, dense block in the six to ten weeks before the May/June or November papers, built entirely from past material under timed conditions. The point is not more content: it is converting knowledge the candidate already has into marks under the clock, and finding the two or three recurring faults that are costing the most per paper.

  • Full papers sat to time, then marked line by line
  • Priority set by marks lost per hour of revision, not by topic order
  • Separate work on the interpretation questions, which cost the most marks
  • Clear stop point so revision does not run into the exam day

Diagnostic block from marked work

Two or three sessions aimed at answering one question: where is this candidate actually losing marks? The teacher reads the most recent marked script and mock, reproduces the failure on a fresh question to confirm it, and hands back a written plan. Some families stop there and work on the plan themselves, which is a legitimate outcome.

  • Starts from the candidate's own marked script, not a placement test
  • Faults confirmed by reproduction, not inferred from a single paper
  • Written plan you keep whether or not you continue
  • Honest answer where the issue is time management rather than Accounting

What an hour of 4AC1 teaching costs in Dubai, before anything else

A qualified subject teacher delivering one-to-one Accounting online in Dubai is advertised across the market at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour as at October 2026. A visiting in-home tutor, travel included, is advertised at roughly AED 180 to 500. Specialist exam-year support for international qualifications is advertised at AED 200 to 450 and above, and a premium tier marketed on examiner background reaches AED 650. At the other end, budget online platforms advertise from the mid-forties upward. Those are market figures, collected from published provider rates, and they are the numbers a Dubai family should be comparing against.

Package pricing distorts comparison, which is usually why it exists. Monthly offers in this market include online blocks around AED 799 for eight sessions, and in-home blocks around AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits. Divide them out before judging: the online block is near AED 100 an hour, which sits below the qualified-teacher band and tells you something about who is likely to be teaching. Published monthly estimates for a single weekly hour run roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget tier, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist support in an exam year.

IB Gram does not publish a 4AC1 price list on this page, and that is deliberate rather than evasive. The honest answer depends on the level, the number of weeks to the series and which teacher is free, so the figure comes after a free trial lesson where the teaching can be judged first. The one free lesson is one per family, with no card details required to book it. What the table below gives you is the market against which any quote, ours included, should be measured.

Six things that move the figure on an Accounting quote in Dubai

Weeks to the series is the largest single driver. A family booking in September for a November entry is buying availability at a quiet point in the year. A family booking in late March for May/June is competing with every other exam-year household in the emirate for the same small group of commerce specialists, and the rate moves accordingly. The subject makes this sharper than most: Accounting specialists are far thinner on the ground in Dubai than maths or physics teachers, so scarcity bites earlier.

Delivery format is the second. An in-home hour in Dubai is not the same product as an online hour, because the drive is inside the rate whether the invoice itemises it or not. Forty minutes each way across Al Khail Road at five o'clock is more than an hour of a teacher's working day, and nobody absorbs that for free. The third driver is who is actually teaching: subject-degree holders with current examination-board experience sit at the top of the band, and generalists who cover Accounting alongside four other subjects sit at the bottom.

Session length, frequency and commitment length make up the rest. Ninety-minute sessions often carry a slightly lower hourly figure than sixty-minute ones because setup time is amortised; pre-paid blocks are usually discounted against pay-as-you-go; two siblings in the same subject sometimes attract a shared rate, although that only works where both are genuinely at the same point in the specification. Ask which of these six is behind any quote you are given. A provider who can answer precisely is pricing a service; one who cannot is pricing a hunch.

03

What the 4AC1 specification actually contains, area by area

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Accounting is assessed entirely by written paper. There is no internally assessed component, no portfolio and no coursework, which removes a whole category of tutoring work that exists in other subjects and concentrates everything on exam performance. Confirm the current component structure, timings and mark totals on the specification document at qualifications.pearson.com rather than from any tutor's summary, including this one, because Pearson revises specification documents and a landing page is not an authoritative source for an assessment weighting.

The content itself divides cleanly. The first half builds the recording system: the accounting equation, double entry, day books, the cash book and petty cash, ledger accounts, and the trial balance. The second half tests whether the candidate can take that system to a year end: control accounts, bank reconciliation, correction of errors, depreciation, accruals and prepayments, irrecoverable debts, then the financial statements of sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and manufacturers, incomplete records, and ratio analysis with written interpretation.

Teaching time should not be distributed evenly across that list. The recording topics are learned once and then applied; the year-end adjustments and the interpretation questions are where the same candidate loses marks series after series. The table below maps each area to what the paper asks a candidate to produce, the failure that recurs most, and where an hour is best spent. It is written from marked-script patterns rather than from the specification's own ordering, which is why it reads differently from a revision guide contents page.

Depreciation, accruals and prepayments: the three adjustments that decide the grade

Ask a Year 11 Accounting candidate in Dubai to calculate reducing-balance depreciation and most will do it correctly. Ask the same candidate to post it, carry the accumulated figure forward, then dispose of the asset in year four, and the error rate climbs steeply. The calculation is arithmetic; the posting is a model. Candidates who memorised the first without building the second produce answers that are internally inconsistent, and a mark scheme that follows the figure through both statements catches that every time.

Accruals and prepayments fail for a related reason. Each adjustment has two consequences, one in the income statement and one in the statement of financial position, and they move in opposite directions. A candidate who learned accruals as a single rule about expenses will adjust the expense and leave the liability untouched, which costs marks twice over. The fix in a session is not more explanation. It is paired drilling: twenty small adjustments in a row, each one requiring both entries, until the second entry stops being an afterthought.

Irrecoverable debts and the allowance for them are the third of the set, and the one most often taught last and therefore least well. An increase in the allowance is a charge; a decrease is a credit; the net figure is what the income statement wants. Candidates who have met this only once, late in Year 11, reliably get the direction wrong under pressure. Treating these three adjustment families as one connected block rather than three separate topics is the single highest-return change to a 4AC1 revision plan.

05

Two Pearson series a year, and the money attached to each

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE qualifications are examined in a May/June series and a November series each year. That second window is the part most families do not plan for, and it changes the economics of tutoring considerably: a candidate who sits in November has a genuine route to improve in the following summer, and one who sits only in summer does not. The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, which means the current series is live as this page is published.

Entry deadlines sit months ahead of the paper and are held by your child's school as the examination centre, not by you. The practical consequence is that a decision to add a subject, change tier where tiering applies, or enter a private candidate has to be made long before anyone feels ready. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, including the International GCSE November series in any given year, so a family planning travel around a paper should work from the live official timetable rather than from a restated date on any tutoring site.

Results dates matter financially because they are the only point at which a retake decision can be made on evidence. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026. November results arrive the following January: results from the November 2025 series reached students on 22 January 2026. Comparing component marks rather than the overall grade is what tells you whether a retake is worth paying for, and that comparison is free.

4AC1 support inside a Dubai household budget

Tutoring is rarely the largest education line in a Dubai household, and it is almost always the most discretionary. School fees are fixed by contract, uniform and transport are fixed by the school, and the tutoring decision is the one place where a family actually chooses. KHDA's confirmation on 22 May 2026 that private school fees would not rise for 2026-27 removes one variable from that calculation for the current year, which is worth knowing before anyone decides a weekly hour is unaffordable.

The arithmetic that matters is annual rather than hourly. One qualified-tier online hour a week across a thirty-six week academic year is a meaningful commitment at market rates, and two hours a week through an exam term is roughly double it. Set against that, a diagnostic block of two or three sessions costs a fraction of either and sometimes resolves the problem outright, because a candidate who learns that their losses are all in interpretation questions can work on interpretation questions without paying anyone to watch.

Examination entry fees are separate and are not part of any tutor's rate. Where a school enters a candidate, the fee appears on the school invoice. Where a family enters a private candidate, the centre bills them directly and the amount varies by centre, so collect written quotes. The table below puts the published market figures next to each other so the comparison is between like and like, with the period each one covers stated rather than implied.

Who may legally take your money for a private Accounting lesson in Dubai

Private tutoring in the UAE is permitted and regulated. Individuals giving private lessons need a private tuition work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. The permit is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own service listing, Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system. Anyone offering private tutoring without that permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

The eligible categories are wider than most parents expect: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. A permit is therefore not a quality signal. It is a legality signal, and the two are different things. A permitted tutor may still be a first-year undergraduate, and an outstanding teacher may not yet have applied. Ask for both: the permit position and the subject record.

Two further points are worth holding onto. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal animal from an individual tutor and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, so no provider should describe itself as approved by KHDA unless it holds one. And in Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from giving paid private tuition to pupils enrolled at their own school. Never arrange your child's own classroom teacher privately.

08

How the lesson actually runs, and what IB Gram does not sell in the UAE

Every session for a Dubai family happens online, one-to-one, over live video, with a shared whiteboard the teacher writes ledger accounts on while the candidate watches each posting appear. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, and home visits are a service offered only in India. That is the same position stated on every country page on this site, and it is stated here so nobody books expecting a doorbell.

For Accounting specifically, the online format is not a compromise. The work is written: T-accounts, journals, statements and workings. A shared screen shows those being built line by line, with the candidate's own attempt visible alongside, which is closer to how a teacher marks than a kitchen table allows. Papers are scanned or photographed and annotated, and the annotated copy stays with the family. Nothing in the subject requires equipment, a laboratory or physical presence.

What the format actually changes is who can teach your child. A Dubai family restricted to tutors within a reasonable drive is choosing from whoever lives nearby and happens to know Accounting. The same family online is choosing from commerce specialists across time zones that overlap with Gulf Standard Time evenings. For a subject this thinly staffed, that is the difference between a specialist and a generalist, and it is the whole argument for the format. Where no specialist is free at the level needed, we say so rather than substituting someone who is not.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Dubai families searching for Accounting help are spread across communities with very different school pictures and very different traffic. Since lessons here run over video, the relevance of your area is about timetable and session timing rather than driving distance.

Al Barsha and Barsha Heights

A dense British-curriculum cluster where a single Accounting teacher may serve two year groups. Sessions here commonly start at 16:30 once the school run has cleared, and a 15:45 start only works for pupils whose campus is walking distance.

Dubai Marina and JLT

Apartment living, so a quiet room for an exam-conditions paper is the real constraint rather than the commute. Marina families often book a longer weekend session instead of two weekday hours, because weekday evenings are crowded with activities.

Mirdif and Al Warqa

Villa communities with a mix of British and Indian curriculum schools, and a significant private-candidate population sitting subjects their school does not offer. Accounting is a common example of exactly that gap.

Arabian Ranches and Dubai Hills Estate

Long internal drives and a school run that can absorb forty minutes in either direction. Online sessions here recover the most time per week, and families tend to prefer two shorter midweek slots over one long one.

Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim and Al Safa

Some of the emirate's oldest British-curriculum schools, with large Year 11 cohorts and competitive option blocks. Accounting groups are usually viable here, which means the school teaching is solid and tutoring is about paper technique rather than content gaps.

Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City

Close to several secondary campuses and a large resident student population. Sessions can realistically start earlier here, around 15:30, because the journey home is short and the afternoon is not lost to traffic.

Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

Working parents, late dinners and a preference for sessions after 19:00 Gulf Standard Time. That timing suits teachers in other zones well, which widens the pool of specialists available for a Business Bay family rather than narrowing it.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim and Al Safa

Long-established British-curriculum schools with full Year 11 option blocks. Students we support from this cluster are usually entered through their school's own Pearson or Cambridge centre, and the tutoring brief is paper technique and interpretation marks rather than missing content.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send the last marked paper

Not a description of the problem, the actual script. A marked mock, a class test, a piece of returned homework. The specification code, the school and the series your child is entered for complete the picture. Reading real work takes twenty minutes and replaces an hour of guessing at the first lesson.

  2. 02

Free trial lesson, one per family

A full session with a teacher who has already read the script, booked without card details. The candidate does Accounting, not an assessment, and you get a written note afterwards saying what the teacher found and what the first six weeks would target. No obligation attaches to it.

  3. 03

A quote against the market band

Only after the trial does a figure appear, and it comes with the reason: the level, the weeks to the series, the teacher's background. The market bands on this page are the comparison. If you want VAT treatment confirmed in writing before committing, ask, and it will be confirmed in writing.

  4. 04

    Weekly teaching with written evidence

Each session produces a short note naming what was covered, what was marked and what shifted. The error log carries from week to week. Faults do not vanish because they were explained once, so recurrence is tracked deliberately rather than hoped away.

  5. 05

A review before the entry deadline

Six to eight weeks ahead of the series, a decision point: continue, change frequency, or stop. Component marks rather than overall grades drive that conversation, and stopping is a legitimate answer. Families who were told what to work on independently sometimes do not need to keep paying.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The price conversation happens first

Three of the six pages ranking for this search publish no price at all. This one opens with the Dubai market band, in dirhams, with the month it was checked, and says plainly why our own figure comes after a trial rather than before it. You can compare before you talk to anyone.

Accounting specialists, not general tutors

The teachers matched to a 4AC1 request work on Accounting and the commerce subjects that follow it. Nobody is assigned because they were free. Where no specialist is available at the level needed, that is said directly rather than covered by a substitution you would discover in week three.

Teaching, review and feedback only

4AC1 carries no coursework, so the question rarely arises here, but the line holds across every subject: a tutor explains, questions, marks and gives feedback on the candidate's own work. No tutor produces assessed work for a student. That is an examination-board malpractice matter, not a service option.

Figures carry a source and a date

Every AED band on this page is a market figure with the month it was checked. Every regulatory statement names the authority it came from. No satisfaction percentage, no star rating, no tutor headcount, because a statistic without a count, a date and a method is decoration rather than evidence.

Delivery stated before you book

Lessons for Dubai families run online over live video. IB Gram operates no office, centre or branch in the UAE and makes no home visits here. The search phrase says tutor in Dubai because that is what parents type; the delivery is stated in plain words so there is no gap between the two.

An exit that costs nothing

The trial lesson needs no card details and carries no obligation. The written plan from a diagnostic block is yours whether you continue or not. A provider confident in the teaching does not need a commitment signed before the first lesson has happened.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What does an Edexcel IGCSE Accounting 4AC1 tutor charge per hour in Dubai?+

Market rates in Dubai as at October 2026 put qualified one-to-one online subject teaching at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, with specialist support for international qualifications advertised at AED 200 to 450 and above. Budget online platforms advertise from the mid-forties, and a premium tier marketed on examiner background reaches AED 650. Visiting in-home tutors are advertised at roughly AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the rate. Those are market figures, not an IB Gram price list. Our own figure follows a free trial lesson, because it depends on the level, the weeks remaining and which teacher is actually free.

Why do 4AC1 quotes in Dubai range from AED 120 to over AED 480?+

Because an Accounting hour is not one product. At the low end you are buying supervision from someone who sat the subject recently and teaches from a textbook. At the high end you are buying diagnosis from a teacher who can read a candidate's trial balance and name the error type that produced the difference. Six things move the figure: weeks to the series, delivery format, who is teaching, session length, frequency, and whether you pre-pay a block. Ask any provider which of those is behind their number. A precise answer means a priced service; a vague one means a hunch.

Is a monthly 4AC1 package cheaper than paying by the hour in Dubai?+

Sometimes, and the arithmetic is worth doing before you accept it. Monthly online packages advertised in this market sit around AED 799 for eight sessions, which works out near AED 100 an hour, below the qualified-teacher band. That tells you something about who is likely to be teaching. In-home monthly blocks around AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits price out differently again. Divide every package by the hours it contains, then compare that figure against the market band for the tier you actually want. A cheaper hourly rate for a less experienced teacher is not a saving if the hour returns fewer marks.

Does a quoted 4AC1 tutoring rate in the UAE include VAT?+

Ask, and get the answer in writing before you commit. Some providers quote inclusive, some exclusive, and the difference on a year of weekly sessions is material. IB Gram states whether VAT applies to a given arrangement at the point of quoting, after the trial lesson. What this page will not do is state how UAE VAT law treats tuition fees in general, because that is a Federal Tax Authority question, the answer depends on the provider's registration status and activity, and a tutoring website is not a source for tax advice. Treat any site that asserts a blanket answer with caution.

How many 4AC1 hours should a Dubai family budget for Year 11?+

It depends on where the candidate starts, and any provider giving a number before reading marked work is guessing. As a planning frame: one weekly hour across the academic year suits a candidate who understands the recording topics and is losing marks on year-end adjustments and interpretation. Two hours a week through the exam term suits one who has gaps in the recording system itself. A diagnostic block of two or three sessions costs a fraction of either and sometimes settles the question outright, because a candidate who learns their losses are all in interpretation can drill interpretation without paying anyone to supervise it.

Are 4AC1 lessons for Dubai families taught online or at a Dubai address?+

Online, one-to-one, over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is a service offered only in India. The search phrase includes tutor in Dubai because that is what parents type, and targeting it honestly means saying how the lesson is actually delivered rather than leaving you to find out. For Accounting the format costs you nothing: the work is written, a shared screen shows ledger accounts being built line by line, and the annotated papers stay with your family.

Which components make up the Pearson 4AC1 Accounting qualification?+

4AC1 is Pearson Edexcel's International GCSE in Accounting and it is assessed entirely by written examination, with no internally assessed element and no coursework. Confirm the current component structure, timings and mark totals on the specification document at qualifications.pearson.com rather than from any tutoring site, including this one: Pearson revises specification documents and an assessment weighting needs an authoritative source. What is stable enough to plan around is the content split, between a recording half covering double entry through to the trial balance and a year-end half covering adjustments, financial statements and ratio analysis.

Does 4AC1 include any coursework a tutor might be asked to write?+

No, and that removes a risk other subjects carry. Accounting at this level is examined by written paper, so there is no portfolio, no internal assessment and nothing a tutor could be pressured into producing. Where a subject does carry assessed work, the line is the same and it is not negotiable: a tutor teaches, questions, marks and gives feedback on work the student has written. No tutor at IB Gram produces assessed work for a candidate. Examination boards treat that as malpractice, the consequence falls on the student, and any provider offering it should be avoided outright.

When are the Pearson 4AC1 exam series and when do entries close?+

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE qualifications are examined in a May/June series and a November series each year. The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026. Entry deadlines sit months before the papers and are held by your child's school as the examination centre, so adding a subject or entering a private candidate has to be decided well before anyone feels ready. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, including the International GCSE November series whenever it next falls, and any family planning travel should work from the live official timetable rather than a date restated on a tutoring page.

What changes if we start 4AC1 support six weeks before the paper?+

The work changes shape and the price moves with availability. Six weeks is too short to rebuild the recording system from scratch, but long enough to convert knowledge the candidate already has into marks: full papers under time, marked line by line, with priority set by marks lost per hour of revision. Expect the session to spend more time on interpretation questions and on format marks in the financial statements, because those are the fastest recoverable losses. Availability is the constraint rather than the teaching. Commerce specialists in this market are booked earliest in the weeks before a series, so the earlier call gets the better match.

Is a group Accounting class in Dubai worth the saving over one-to-one?+

It can be, for a specific candidate. Tuition centre group classes of two to four pupils are advertised at roughly AED 90 to 160 per pupil per hour in this market, a real saving against one-to-one. The trade is that a group follows a fixed scheme of work, so a candidate whose problem is a personal, recurring error pattern will sit through content they already have. Groups suit a pupil who needs structure and pace. One-to-one suits one who needs a specific fault diagnosed and drilled. Decide from marked work which of those describes your child, then price accordingly.

Does Accounting count towards the five subjects for UAE equivalency?+

On the British track, the Ministry of Education requires proof of five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. Accounting is an accredited IGCSE subject and would ordinarily sit inside that count, but verify your child's specific combination with the Ministry or the emirate attestation authority directly. IB Gram describes the process and does not perform or guarantee it, and no tutoring is required for it.

How do I check a Dubai tutor is permitted to charge for 4AC1 lessons?+

Ask directly whether they hold a private tuition work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's service listing shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, so there is no cost reason for a tutor not to hold one. Operating without it exposes the tutor to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. Note that the permit confirms legality rather than quality: eligible categories include university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Ask about the permit and the subject record separately.

What does the free first Accounting lesson actually include?+

A full one-to-one session with a teacher who has already read your child's most recent marked script, booked without card details, one per family. The candidate does Accounting in it rather than sitting a placement test, because how someone responds to teaching is more informative than how they score cold. Afterwards you get a short written note: what the teacher found, which error patterns recurred, and what the first six weeks would target. That note is yours whether you continue or not, and no quote is given until it has been sent.

Do Accounting tutoring rates in Dubai rise closer to the November series?+

Effective rates rise because availability falls, which is not quite the same thing as a price increase. In the weeks before a series the specialists are booked, so what remains at the original figure is the generalist tier, and families who wanted a subject specialist end up paying the specialist band or accepting someone less suited. Accounting is more exposed to this than maths or English because the pool of commerce teachers in this market is far smaller. Booking in the quiet part of the year buys a better match at a calmer figure, and gives the teaching enough weeks to work.
