IB DP Business Management Home Tutor in Dubai

Almost every family searching for an IB DP Business Management home tutor in Dubai wants a price before anything else, and almost nobody in this market publishes one. This page does: the AED bands the Dubai market actually charges, attributed to whoever published them, and the six things that move the number in this emirate specifically. IB Gram teaches the Diploma Business Management course one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, starting with a free trial lesson and no card details.

  • AED bands published with the source and date of each figure
  • Plans quoted as a session count, not as an open-ended hourly rate
  • Business Management specialists who teach the toolkit, not just the units

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The price question, answered before the sales argument

Research for this project fetched and read some sixty competitor pages across the Dubai tutoring market. Three of the six pages ranking for queries like this one publish no price at all. One of them asks the price question in its own list of frequently asked questions and then declines to answer it. The two that do publish figures quote US dollars, which is not the currency a Dubai family pays in. That is the state of the market a parent is searching inside, and it is why this page leads with money.

Here is the honest shape of it. Market rates for IB tutoring in Dubai run from roughly AED 45 an hour at the budget end, where providers such as EdFlik advertise from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52, through a qualified-subject-tutor band where Unitors publishes IB tuition from AED 200 and IGCSE from AED 150, up to an IB specialist band that Bestimate's 2026 rate table puts at AED 200-450 and above. In-home one-to-one sits higher again, at AED 180-350 in that table and up to AED 500 from independent home tutors. Premium named tutors are quoted at AED 650 by BartyED. Those are market figures published by those providers, not IB Gram's prices.

What nobody explains is why the same subject at the same level produces a range that wide. Six factors do most of the work, and four of them are specific to Dubai rather than general. Delivery format is the largest, because an in-home rate in this city absorbs a cross-town journey that can take fifty minutes at 17:00. Proximity to the May session is the second. Whether the brief includes coursework feedback is the third, because reading and scoring a research project is slower work per hour than teaching a unit. The rest are set out in a table further down.

IB Gram's own model is worth stating plainly rather than leaving to inference. Tutoring for families in Dubai is delivered online, one-to-one, over live video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; a tutor arriving at a residence is part of our India service only. We do not publish a headline hourly rate on these pages, because the rate depends on level, session length and whether the brief includes research-project feedback. What we do instead is give a free trial lesson with no card details, then quote a plan: a session count, a sequence and a total.

That last distinction matters more than it sounds. An hourly rate is almost useless for budgeting a two-year Diploma subject. A plan is not. 'Eight sessions on the pre-released case study across eight weeks' is a number a household can decide about. 'From AED X per hour' is an invitation to find out later.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Business Management is taken in the Diploma, but the students arriving in a DP1 class come from four different places and each route changes how many sessions the first term needs. The cost of a plan starts here.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13 · DP1 and DP2

Diploma Programme

Business Management is a group 3 subject at Standard or Higher Level, built on five units: introduction to business management, human resource management, finance and accounts, marketing, and operations management. Four concepts run through the course — creativity, change, ethics and sustainability. Assessment combines a paper based on a pre-released case study, a second paper on unseen material, and an internally assessed research project.

Business Management is one of the more popular group 3 choices at Dubai IB schools, which has a cost consequence: the pool of tutors who claim it is large, and the pool who can actually teach the examinable toolkit and score a research project is much smaller. Price dispersion in this subject is wider in Dubai than in Economics for exactly that reason.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme

Individuals and Societies and the design cycle both feed into Business Management, and MYP's criterion-based marking prepares students well for a research project. What it does not prepare them for is the quantitative strand: break-even, cash-flow forecasts and ratio work assume a comfort with figures that MYP assessment does not test directly.

Dubai schools running MYP to the end of Year 11 send students into DP1 with strong investigation habits and no experience of a timed quantitative paper. The practical budgeting point is that these students usually need a short numeracy strand in DP1 term one, which is two or three sessions, not a term.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Business Management is a natural DP course inside the Career-related Programme, where it sits alongside a career-related study and the four compulsory components including a reflective project. The subject is assessed identically to the full Diploma version. The workload difference is that the reflective project and the research project frequently fall in the same term.

Where a Dubai school runs CP with a career-related study in business, students sometimes assume the two pieces of research can share material. They cannot: each must be independently produced, and reusing work across components is an academic-honesty question rather than a time saving.

PRE-DPAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Business Studies into DP1

Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies 0450 is the most common entry route in Dubai. It covers much of the same territory at a shallower depth and with a different reward structure: IGCSE marks clear explanation, while the Diploma marks application of a named tool to a specific organisation. Students arriving with a grade 8 or 9 at 0450 often write good IGCSE answers to Diploma questions for an entire term.

With UK-curriculum students at 37% of Dubai's private-school enrolment in 2024-25, this handover is the standard case. The budget consequence is specific: a student from 0450 rarely needs content teaching in DP1 term one, and the money is better spent on four or five sessions converting IGCSE writing into Diploma writing.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Business Management is the subject of this page. The remaining entries are the subjects Dubai Diploma students most often combine with it, listed by what each adds to the workload and therefore to the cost of a term.

Business Management

HL and SL

Five units plus an examinable business management toolkit. Assessment combines a paper built on a pre-released case study, a second paper on unseen stimulus material with a quantitative element, and an internally assessed research project on a real organisation. Higher Level adds extension content and extra toolkit tools. Confirm current weightings, durations and word limits in the live subject guide on ibo.org.

Economics

HL and SL

The closest group 3 neighbour and the most frequent pairing. Diagram discipline transfers; tool application does not. Economics students taking Business Management often write Economics evaluation into Business answers, where the command terms want an operational recommendation for a named organisation instead of a weighing of theoretical effects.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

The natural mathematics partner. Descriptive statistics, regression and confident calculator use all support the quantitative strand of Business Management directly, including break-even and investment appraisal. For a Business Management student the AI route is usually the better fit unless a target degree specifies otherwise.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Chosen for university prerequisites rather than for Business Management support. Several business and finance degrees specify AA, so the choice should be checked against the named programme before DP1 subject selection closes rather than assumed from the subject title.

Global Politics

HL and SL

Shares the ethics and sustainability ground from a different direction, and its engagement activity trains the sourcing of evidence on a self-chosen issue. That is the same discipline a research project needs, and students who do both often produce stronger primary research than classmates who do Business Management alone.

Psychology

HL and SL

Directly relevant to the human resource management unit — motivation theory, leadership, organisational culture — and its experimental internal assessment teaches rigorous handling of evidence. The transferable habit is distinguishing what the data shows from what the student expected it to show.

Digital Society

HL and SL

Overlaps the operations and marketing units through digital business models, data and platform economics. Its inquiry process is close in shape to the research project, so students taking both have a head start on framing a researchable question rather than a topic.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The close-reading skill it trains is what Paper 1 rewards. A pre-released case study is a text, and the marks go to students who use its specific detail rather than general industry knowledge. Students who can quote the exact line that supports a recommendation score higher without learning more business theory.

Visual Arts and Design Technology

HL and SL

Common pairings for students heading towards entrepreneurship or product-led degrees. Both train iteration and justification of a design decision, which maps onto the creativity concept in Business Management and onto the operations unit's treatment of product development.

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies

MoE-mandated alongside the Diploma

Dubai private schools must deliver Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies regardless of their licensed curriculum, under KHDA requirements. These occupy real timetable space and therefore real tutoring capacity, which is why a plan should be built from what remains of the week rather than from an ideal schedule.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Dubai families buy Business Management support, each with a different cost shape. All are delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; none involves a visit to a UAE address.

Fixed-price blocks against one component

The format most families choose once the price question has been answered properly. A block names a component, a session count and a total: eight sessions on the pre-released case study, or six on the quantitative strand. The budget is known at the start and the work has an end. For a DP2 student whose school report named one weak component, this is almost always the cheapest route to a grade change.

  • A named component, a session count and a total quoted up front
  • Typical blocks run six to ten sessions over the same number of weeks
  • Each session returns a marked piece of work, so progress is checkable mid-block
  • No rolling commitment; a second block is a separate decision

Weekly one-to-one across DP1 and DP2

A fixed slot across the two years, tracking the school's scheme of work slightly ahead of the class. The total cost is higher and the cost per outcome is usually lower, because the research project gets handled properly in DP1 instead of being rescued in DP2 and the toolkit is built once rather than revised repeatedly.

  • Same tutor and slot from DP1 term one to study leave
  • Monthly budget set once and unchanged through the year
  • Toolkit tools taught as they become relevant, not all at once in April
  • A written record of which units and tools are secure

Research-project feedback cycle

Priced separately because it is slower work per hour than teaching. The tutor reads the student's own draft, scores it against the published criteria, and returns the score with written reasons and questions the student answers themselves. The tutor does not write, rewrite or complete any part of the project — that is malpractice under IB rules and the sanction falls on the student.

  • Research question tested for answerability before data collection starts
  • Each draft scored against the criteria in writing
  • Primary and secondary source handling checked for sufficiency and citation
  • Feedback given as questions; every revision is the student's own work

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What an IB Business Management home tutor in Dubai actually costs

An IB DP Business Management home tutor in Dubai, as the market uses the term, is a specialist working one-to-one with a Diploma Business Management student at a time the family chooses. Traditionally that has meant a tutor driving to a residence. IB Gram teaches the same course one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; home visits are an India-only part of our service and are not sold in the UAE at any price.

The table below is the answer to the question most parents came here with. Every figure is a market rate published by the named provider or rate table, with the year it was published. None of them is IB Gram's price. The reason for presenting it by provider model rather than as a single average is that the models buy genuinely different things: a budget online platform and an IB specialist are not the same purchase at a discount, they are different purchases.

Read the right-hand column carefully, because it contains the part that costs families money later. A rate that excludes coursework feedback will not help with the research project. A rate quoted per 45-minute session is not comparable to one quoted per hour. A marketplace rate that varies by tutor is a range rather than a price. Most disappointment in this market comes from comparing two numbers that were never measuring the same thing.

One structural note about this SERP. Competitor pricing in Dubai is frequently inconsistent on the provider's own site — research for this project found a page contradicting its own published prices in two places, and schema markup quoting a price range that differed from the visible body text. Where a figure appears below, it is the one that provider published, dated, and it is quoted for comparison of models rather than as an endorsement or a criticism of any brand.

The six things that move the number in this emirate

A range from AED 33 to AED 650 for the same nominal service needs explaining, and the explanation is not simply quality. Six factors do most of the work. Two are general to tutoring anywhere. Four bite specifically in Dubai, and those are the ones a local family can act on.

Delivery format is the largest single factor and it is almost entirely a Dubai geography problem. A 90-minute in-home session booked for 17:00 in Dubai Marina commonly occupies a tutor from around 16:10 to 19:05 once the journey is counted in both directions. That unbilled time sits inside the rate whether or not it appears as a line item, and it is why Bestimate's in-home band starts above its online band for identical teaching.

Proximity to the May session is the second. The supply of specialists who can teach the examinable toolkit and score a research project is fixed; demand from DP2 families is not, and it concentrates between January and April. A plan agreed in September costs less per session than the same plan agreed in February, and the September version also has the research project still open, which is where most of the recoverable grade sits.

The remaining four are scope, level, session length and cancellation terms. Scope is the one that catches families: a rate for teaching units is not a rate for reading and scoring a 1,500 or 1,800-word research project, because the latter is slower per hour. Level matters because Higher Level extension content and the additional toolkit tools narrow the tutor pool. Session length matters because a 45-minute session quoted against a 60-minute comparison looks 25% cheaper and is not. And cancellation terms decide what a missed school trip actually costs.

Where the AED actually goes: in-home against online

This is the comparison that decides most Dubai budgets, and it deserves a cost breakdown rather than a slogan. An in-home tutor offers things that are genuinely hard to reproduce: a person in the room, no device between tutor and student, a pen picked up mid-sentence. For a student who disengages when a screen appears, that is worth paying for and worth hiring locally for.

IB Gram does not sell that format in the UAE. A tutor travelling to a residence is part of our India operation only, and nothing on this site offers it here. A family that wants somebody in the room should hire a local tutor and should expect the in-home market band, which is higher for a specific and defensible reason rather than an arbitrary one.

The reason is set out in the table. Roughly a third of an in-home hour's cost in a city like Dubai is the journey, and the journey produces no teaching. That is not a criticism of in-home tutors; it is the economics of the format, and a tutor who did not price it would be working for less than their stated rate. What online delivery does is remove that component and redirect it, which in practice means either a lower total or a more specialised tutor for the same money.

There is a second cost that rarely appears in a comparison: the cost of the wrong tutor. Restricting the search to people who can physically reach Mirdif by 17:30 narrows the pool severely in a subject where the examinable toolkit and the research project are the parts that move grades. Paying AED 250 an hour for a nearby generalist is more expensive than paying AED 300 for a specialist if the first one spends six sessions on content the student already had.

Tutoring cost in context for a Dubai Diploma family

An hourly rate in isolation tells a family very little. What helps is seeing the tutoring line next to the other costs of a Diploma year in Dubai, and seeing what a full plan totals rather than what one hour does. The table below does that using only figures that can be attributed, with a note rather than an invented number wherever nothing could be sourced.

The most useful context comes from KHDA. Dubai's private school sector carried 387,441 students across 227 schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with International Baccalaureate students at 7% of enrolment. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a tutoring budget, that means the school-fee side of the household is flat this year rather than rising.

The sector is also growing, which affects tutor supply. KHDA reported that Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools — four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate — creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. Three new IB schools means more Diploma students and the same specialist tutor pool, which is a supply argument for booking early rather than a marketing one.

What the table deliberately does not do is state a school fee figure or a VAT treatment. Fees vary by school and are published by each school through KHDA; quoting a band here would be a number without a source. The VAT position on tuition fees in the UAE is a question for the Federal Tax Authority, and we limit ourselves to confirming whether a quoted price includes it when we issue one.

What the money is buying: the assessment you are paying to improve

A price is only judgeable against what it is meant to change. Business Management is assessed through two written papers and an internally assessed research project, and the three components need different kinds of tutoring time, which is why a single hourly rate is a poor instrument for the whole subject.

Paper 1 is built on a case study released to schools in advance. That changes the economics of preparation completely: the organisation, the context and much of the data are known months before the examination, so preparation is specific research rather than general revision. A tutor who has read the released material and worked it against the syllabus is doing something a generalist cannot, and this is the single component where specialist time pays back fastest.

Paper 2 works from unseen stimulus material and includes a quantitative strand — break-even, cash-flow forecasting, ratio work and investment appraisal among the tools a student may be asked to apply. These are drillable and therefore cheap to fix in session terms, usually four to six focused sessions. The marks are lost to presentation and interpretation rather than arithmetic: a correct ratio with no comment on what it means for the organisation earns a fraction of the available marks.

The research project is the component families most often underestimate in cost terms, because it is slow. The student investigates a real organisation and produces a report within a word limit that differs by level. Scoring a draft properly against the published criteria takes longer than teaching a unit, and feedback has to be returned as questions rather than corrections so that the work stays the student's own. Confirm current component weightings, durations and word limits against the live subject guide on ibo.org or with your school's DP coordinator.

06

The toolkit, and why a cheap tutor often cannot teach it

The business management toolkit is the part of this course that separates a tutor who knows business from a tutor who knows the Diploma. It is an examinable set of analytical tools, and students are expected to select, apply and evaluate them against a specific organisation rather than describe them. A quoted rate at the budget end of the Dubai market frequently buys somebody who can explain what a SWOT analysis is, which is not what the marks are for.

The tools span the course. Situational and strategic analysis includes SWOT, STEEPLE, the Ansoff matrix and the BCG matrix. Financial tools include break-even analysis, cash-flow forecasts, financial ratios and investment appraisal. Decision tools include decision trees and descriptive statistics. Higher Level adds further tools, among them critical path analysis, force field analysis, Hofstede's cultural dimensions, Porter's generic strategies, contribution analysis and simple linear regression. Check the current list and level allocation in the live subject guide, since the toolkit is a comparatively recent addition and its contents are specified there.

What examiners reward is selection and judgement. A student who applies a BCG matrix to an organisation with a single product has chosen the wrong tool and will be marked accordingly, however neatly the matrix is drawn. A student who completes an Ansoff matrix and then recommends market development without reference to the organisation's cash position has applied the tool and not used it. These are the losses that distinguish a 4 from a 6, and they are invisible to a tutor who has only ever taught the units.

The practical consequence for a budget is uncomfortable but worth stating. The cheapest rate in the Dubai market is not usually a discount on the same service; it is a different service that may not reach the part of the grade a parent is worried about. The right way to test it before paying is to ask a candidate tutor a toolkit question in the free trial: which tool would you use here, and what would you conclude from it.

Hidden extras that catch Dubai parents out

  • Convert every quote to a price per 60 minutes before comparing
  • Ask whether the rate includes reading and scoring coursework drafts
  • Get the cancellation notice period and reschedule policy in writing
  • Ask what happens if the tutor becomes unavailable mid-term
  • Check the conditions attached to any free offer on the same screen

Several costs in this market are real and are rarely in the headline figure. The first is session length. Forty-five-minute slots are common in Dubai and are often quoted against sixty-minute comparisons, which makes a rate look a quarter cheaper than it is. Convert every quote to a price per sixty minutes before comparing anything.

The second is scope creep around coursework. A rate agreed for teaching units does not usually include reading and scoring a research project draft, and families discover this in the week the first draft is due. Ask explicitly: does this rate include reading and scoring written coursework, and how many passes. The third is cancellation. A Dubai school year contains trips, long weekends, and a Ramadan schedule shift, and a loose notice period across a year costs more than a slightly higher hourly rate with a clear one.

The fourth is what happens when a tutor becomes unavailable. On an independent arrangement the answer is often that the sessions stop. A replacement policy is worth asking about before the situation arises, and worth comparing across providers, because it is the term that most often turns a cheap arrangement into an expensive gap in February.

The fifth is the one a price list cannot show: a conditional offer presented as free. 'Free trial' should always be accompanied by the conditions on the same screen — how long it lasts, whether card details are needed, and what happens afterwards. Our trial is a full one-to-one session, free of charge, with no card details taken and no automatic enrolment. If any provider's free offer takes longer than a sentence to explain, read that sentence carefully.

08

Permits, legality and whether the cheapest tutor is a legal one

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free for two years under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • MoHRE lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time for the permit
  • No fine amounts are published, so none appear on this page
  • A Dubai centre with premises needs a separate KHDA Educational Services Permit
  • Never arrange paid tuition with your child's own class teacher

There is a price floor in this market that is set by law rather than by competition, and it is worth understanding before choosing on price alone. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students.

Because the permit is free, cost is not a reason for a tutor to be without one. MoHRE's own service page, 'Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing', lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so no amount is quoted here, and any page quoting one should be treated with suspicion.

A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal entity again and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram operates no premises in the UAE, holds no such permit, and is not approved, accredited or licensed by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

One further rule shapes what a parent should not buy at any price. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff in Abu Dhabi have been reported as prohibiting teachers from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct carries a similar bar. Treat that as press-reported and verify against the current ADEK document. The sound rule everywhere in the UAE is not to arrange paid tuition with your child's own class teacher, however convenient or cheap the arrangement looks.

Academic honesty: the one cost that is never worth paying

  • Permitted: teaching, explaining criteria, testing a research question, scoring drafts
  • Not permitted: writing, rewriting, supplying text, or editing to completion
  • Malpractice sanctions fall on the candidate, not on the provider
  • Official papers and mark schemes are cited and linked, never redistributed

Research for this project found a provider in this market selling completed Internal Assessments outright, at a fixed price, as a product. That is worth naming as a cost rather than a shortcut. Submitting work that is not the student's own is malpractice under IB rules, and the sanction falls on the candidate: a Diploma can be withheld. The money saved on effort is paid for with the qualification.

The permitted boundary around a Business Management research project is wide enough to be genuinely useful. A tutor may teach the units and the toolkit. A tutor may explain the assessment criteria and what each descriptor means. A tutor may test whether a proposed research question is actually answerable with the data a student can obtain. A tutor may read a draft the student has written and score it against the criteria. A tutor may say that a section applies a tool without drawing a conclusion from it, and ask what the conclusion should be.

A tutor may not write, rewrite or complete any part of the project, supply sentences for insertion, or edit a draft until it is finished. Our working test is that feedback is given as scores and questions and the keyboard stays with the student. That boundary also applies to the Extended Essay and to TOK, and it applies to materials: published syllabus documents, past papers and mark schemes belong to the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and are referenced and linked rather than copied or supplied as downloads.

The reason this sits on a page about cost is that price pressure is exactly what pushes families towards the services that cross the line. A completed research project is cheaper per mark than six proper feedback sessions, right up until it is caught. The honest arithmetic is that the only coursework support worth buying is the kind that leaves the work in the student's hands.

How to test any quote before you pay for it

  • Use the free trial to test competence, not only rapport
  • Ask which toolkit tools are Higher Level only
  • Ask whether the tutor has read the current released case study
  • Ask how many coursework passes are included, and what the tutor will not do
  • Ask what the rate includes, stated per 60 minutes

A free trial lesson is the only instrument in this market that tells a parent anything reliable before money changes hands, and most families use it badly — as a chemistry test between tutor and student rather than as an assessment of competence. It can do both, and the competence part is the one a price depends on.

Four questions are worth putting to any Business Management tutor, ours included, in or around that first session. Which toolkit tools are Higher Level only, and which does my child need. Have you read the case study released for the current session, and what would you do with it. How many passes would you make over a research project draft, and what would you not do to it. And what exactly does your rate include, per sixty minutes.

The answers are diagnostic. A tutor who cannot separate Higher Level toolkit tools from Standard Level ones has not taught this syllabus recently. A tutor who has not read the released case study is not prepared for the component with the highest return per session. A tutor who offers to tidy up a research project has told you something important about their boundaries. And a tutor who cannot state what a rate includes will state it later, when the first coursework deadline arrives.

After our free trial you receive a short written note: what was understood, what was not, which component the marks are coming from, and a plan with a session count and a total. No card details are taken for the trial and there is no automatic enrolment. If the note reads like a brochure rather than a diagnosis, that is a reason to decline, and we would rather you declined than paid for the wrong thing.

Where we tutor

What a Business Management session costs in time, by Dubai area

The AED rate is only one part of what a family pays. The other part is the hour of the evening a session can start, and that varies by area because commutes and school-day lengths do. These notes record the practical pattern.

Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers

The longest average afternoon commute for Diploma students in the city. An in-home tutor booked for 17:00 here typically prices a round trip of nearly two hours into the rate. Online sessions settle at 18:30 or later and the whole slot is teaching.

Downtown Dubai and Business Bay

Dense apartment living with students travelling outward to school and parents working in the same district. Sessions after 19:00 are normal, and weekend mornings are used more here than anywhere else for the longer blocks research-project work needs.

Al Barsha and Dubai Hills Estate

Schools inside or beside the communities, so a 16:30 start is realistic. That makes a two-session week affordable in time terms, which is why DP1 students here more often split content teaching and case-study practice across two shorter slots.

Arabian Ranches and Jumeirah Golf Estates

Short commutes and schools within the communities. Families here are the most likely to compare an in-home quote against an online one directly, because the travel premium in a local in-home rate is smaller and the comparison is genuinely close.

Mirdif, Al Warqa and Al Qusais

Served by established IB schools towards Deira, with the Rashidiya interchange shaping the afternoon. An 18:30 start is standard. In-home rates quoted into this area from the Jumeirah side carry the heaviest travel loading in the city.

Jumeirah Village Circle and Dubai Sports City

Long bus routes and heavy dependence on school transport. Families here usually prefer one 90-minute session to two 60-minute ones, which changes the plan arithmetic: fewer slots, more preparation between them.

Nad Al Sheba, Meydan and Dubai Silicon Oasis

Newer communities feeding dual-pathway schools that run A Level alongside the Diploma. Students who switched route in Year 12 appear here most, and their plans cost more in the first term because the toolkit has to be taught from scratch.

Deira, Al Nahda and Dubai Festival City

Large settled IB cohorts and families who have usually bought tutoring before. Enquiries arrive here with a specific budget and a specific question, which makes a plan quote easier to produce than a general hourly conversation.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Al Barsha, Dubai Hills Estate and Emirates Hills

The largest block of Diploma Business Management teaching in Dubai. Classes are often large enough for the subject to be taught by a dedicated specialist, which means the gap a tutor fills here is usually technique and the research project rather than content.

  • Dubai International Academy Al Barsha
  • Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills
  • GEMS World Academy Dubai
  • GEMS Dubai American Academy
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai

Deira, Mirdif and Dubai Festival City

Long-standing IB provision with settled annual deadlines. Research-project milestones at these schools are generally issued in writing in September, which makes it possible to quote an accurate plan for the whole year in the first conversation.

  • Deira International School
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Uptown International School

Arabian Ranches, Nad Al Sheba and Dubai Sports City

Dual-pathway schools offering both A Level and the Diploma. Business Management classes here frequently include students who arrived from A Level Business, who have content knowledge and no experience of either the toolkit or a research project.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) Arabian Ranches
  • Repton School Dubai
  • Fairgreen International School
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai

Schools are named only as context for the Dubai IB ecosystem; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership, client relationship or endorsement from any school, group or authority mentioned here.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say the level, the component and the budget shape

The quickest route to a real number is telling us three things: Higher or Standard Level, which component the school report flagged, and whether you are budgeting per month or for a defined block. Those three answers produce a plan quote rather than a rate range.

  2. 02

Free trial lesson, no card details

A full one-to-one session over live video at no cost. The tutor works a real case-study or quantitative question with your child and returns a short written note of what is secure and what is not. Nothing is charged and nothing is enrolled automatically.

  3. 03

A plan with a session count and a total

Not an hourly rate. A plan names the component, the number of sessions, the sequence and the total cost, so the decision is a single number rather than an open commitment. Coursework feedback, if the brief includes it, is scoped and priced separately and explicitly.

  4. 04

    Sessions that return marked work

A fixed slot on Gulf Standard Time, with a marked piece of work after each session so progress is checkable mid-block rather than only at the end. Research-project drafts come back scored against the criteria, with questions the student answers themselves.

  5. 05

Decide again at the end of the block

A block ends. At that point the marked work is reviewed and a second block is a fresh decision, not a default renewal. Families who prefer a rolling monthly arrangement can have one, but it is chosen rather than assumed.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Figures carry a source and a date

Every AED band on this page is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, with the year, and marked as a market rate rather than ours. Where nothing could be sourced — a school fee band, a VAT treatment, an IB session date — the page says so instead of estimating.

Quoted as a plan, not as a rate

A session count, a sequence and a total, so a family can decide once. An hourly rate is almost impossible to budget a two-year Diploma subject against, and the ambiguity in this market usually works against the parent rather than the provider.

Coursework scope stated before purchase

Research-project feedback is slower work per hour than teaching, so it is scoped and priced explicitly rather than assumed into a general rate. That avoids the common Dubai conversation in which a coursework deadline arrives and the quoted rate turns out not to have covered it.

The toolkit is treated as examinable content

Tools are taught to be selected, applied and judged against a named organisation, with Higher Level tools identified as such. That is the part of this subject where the cheapest rates in the market most often fall short of what the marks are for.

Matched on the subject, not on the postcode

Because delivery is online, the tutor is chosen for having taught this syllabus at this level rather than for living near your community. In a city where a 17:00 crossing can take fifty minutes, that removes the largest hidden cost in the in-home model.

An honest answer on availability

Specialist supply is fixed and DP2 demand concentrates before the May session. If nobody suitable is free in the slot you want, we say so and give the next realistic start date rather than placing a generalist into a Higher Level brief and leaving the gap to emerge in March.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How much does an IB Business Management tutor cost per hour in Dubai?+

Published market figures for 2026 run from roughly AED 33-65 an hour at the budget online end, where Tutopiya advertises from AED 33-52 and EdFlik from AED 45-65, through a qualified-tutor band where Unitors lists IB tuition from AED 200 and IGCSE from AED 150, to an IB specialist band that Bestimate's rate table puts at AED 200-450 and above. TutorChase publishes AED 270 and BartyED AED 650 at the premium end. Those are market rates published by those providers, not IB Gram's prices. We quote a plan after a free trial lesson.

Why is there such a wide gap between the cheapest and most expensive tutors here?+

Because the models buy different things rather than the same thing at different prices. Six factors explain most of the spread: delivery format, which in Dubai means a cross-city journey priced into an in-home rate; the month of booking, since DP2 demand concentrates before the May session; whether the brief includes coursework feedback, which is slower work per hour; the level, since Higher Level narrows the tutor pool; session length, as 45-minute slots are often compared against hours; and cancellation terms, which decide what a missed trip costs over a year.

Is a home tutor in Dubai worth the extra AED per hour for Business Management?+

It depends on one thing: whether your child engages on a screen. If a person in the room is what makes the hour work, the premium is worth paying and you should hire locally, because IB Gram does not run home visits in the UAE. If attention holds on a shared screen, the in-home premium is buying a journey rather than teaching — roughly 40 to 60 minutes each way at 17:00 in this city — and the same budget buys a more specialised tutor online. The second hidden cost is the narrower local pool in a subject where the toolkit decides marks.

What should a Business Management plan cost rather than an hour?+

Think in blocks. A case-study block for Paper 1 is typically eight sessions over eight weeks. A quantitative block covering break-even, cash flow, ratios and investment appraisal is usually four to six. A research-project feedback cycle runs three or four passes per draft and is priced separately because reading and scoring is slower than teaching. A weekly arrangement across DP1 and DP2 is around sixty to seventy sessions. Multiplying a block by a published band gives a realistic total; we quote the actual total after a free trial lesson.

Does the quoted rate include feedback on the research project?+

Ask every provider this before comparing prices, because the usual answer is no and families find out in the week a draft is due. Reading a 1,500 or 1,800-word report and scoring it against the published criteria takes longer than teaching a unit, so most rates priced for teaching do not cover it. We scope and price coursework feedback explicitly: how many passes, what each pass checks, and what the tutor will not do to the draft. Confirm the current word limits for your child's level in the live subject guide.

Why is the pre-released case study worth paying specialist rates for?+

Because it is the one component where the material is known in advance, which changes preparation from general revision into specific research. A tutor who has read the released case study and worked it against the syllabus can prepare a student on the actual organisation, context and data that will appear. A generalist charging less will prepare them on business theory. In cost-per-mark terms this is usually the highest-return block a Dubai family buys, and it is also the component most often left until the term of the examination.

Which toolkit tools are Higher Level only, and does it change the price?+

The toolkit is examinable and Higher Level carries additional tools, which have historically included critical path analysis, force field analysis, Hofstede's cultural dimensions, Porter's generic strategies, contribution analysis and simple linear regression alongside the tools both levels share. Verify the current list and level allocation in the IB subject guide. It does affect price, because the pool of tutors who can teach selection and judgement on the Higher Level tools is smaller than the pool who can describe a SWOT analysis, and the Dubai market prices that scarcity.

Are 45-minute sessions standard in Dubai, and how should we compare them?+

Forty-five-minute slots are common here and are frequently quoted against sixty-minute comparisons without the difference being prominent. A rate of AED 200 per 45 minutes is AED 267 per hour, which changes a comparison entirely. Convert every quote to a price per sixty minutes before deciding anything. The related question is what a session includes: whether marking between lessons, preparation on a released case study, or coursework reading is inside the quoted time or outside it.

Do you charge for the trial lesson, and what are the conditions?+

The trial is a full one-to-one session over live video, free of charge, with no card details taken and no automatic enrolment afterwards. The conditions are that it is one session, with a tutor matched to your child's subject and level, and that it ends with a short written note of what was understood and what was not. We state those conditions here because a conditional free offer should always be explained on the same screen as the word free, and in this market that is not always the case.

What happens to our money if the tutor becomes unavailable mid-term?+

Ask every provider this before the situation arises, because it is the term that most often turns a cheap arrangement into a gap in February. On an independent in-home arrangement the usual answer is that sessions stop until the tutor returns. We propose a replacement matched to the same level and component, and the plan continues from where it stopped rather than restarting. Any unused sessions in a block stay unused rather than expiring quietly, and the reschedule terms are stated at the start.

Is private tutoring in Dubai legal, and does a permit cost money?+

It is legal with a permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through its smart app, website and e-services system. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students. Because it costs nothing, price is no excuse for a tutor not to hold one, and you can simply ask.

Have Dubai school fees gone up, and does that affect what we can spend on tutoring?+

KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a household budget that means the school-fee side is flat this year rather than rising. Fees themselves vary by school and are published through KHDA, so no band is quoted on this page. The sector is also expanding, with seven new private schools and 16,846 new places reported for 2026-27.

Can we buy a finished research project to save money?+

No, and the reason is arithmetic rather than principle. Submitting work that is not the student's own is malpractice under IB rules, and the sanction falls on the candidate — a Diploma can be withheld. Services selling completed Internal Assessments exist in this market; one was found during research for this project advertising them at a fixed price. What a tutor may legitimately do is teach the units and toolkit, explain the criteria, test whether a research question is answerable, score a draft the student wrote, and ask what a weak section is missing.

Which component should we spend on first if the budget is limited?+

Whichever one the marked work says is weakest, which is why the first conversation asks for a marked paper rather than a description. As a default, a DP1 student should spend first on the research project, because it is the only component with no time limit and it closes early. A DP2 student should spend on the pre-released case study, because the material is known in advance and the return per session is highest. The quantitative strand is cheapest to fix and should rarely be the first purchase.

Do session times and prices change during Ramadan and the school holidays?+

Times change; the plan price does not. During Ramadan the UAE school day shortens and sessions usually move to post-Iftar timing rather than pausing, because a paused DP2 spring does not return the weeks it loses. Over the winter and spring breaks families who travel often keep sessions at a shifted hour, since live video follows the student, while those staying in Dubai use the break for the longer blocks research-project work actually needs. Rates in the wider market do tend to rise closer to the May session as specialist supply tightens.

Ask for a total, not a rate

If you are looking for an IB DP Business Management home tutor in Dubai, the most useful thing you can do before paying anybody is ask for a total rather than an hourly rate: which component, how many sessions, what it includes per sixty minutes, and what happens to coursework feedback. We answer those four questions in writing after a free trial lesson, which is a full one-to-one session over live video with no card details taken and no automatic enrolment. Send the marked work the school has already given you and the first conversation can be about the specific component rather than about a price range.
