Cambridge IGCSE Psychology 0266 Online Tutor in Dubai

A Cambridge IGCSE Psychology 0266 online tutor is bought for technique, because content is the part a school already delivers. This page opens the session itself: what happens in each block of sixty minutes, the five handles that produce an evaluation sentence on any study, the three-step move that rescues an unseen-scenario question, and how demonstrations are run over screen share. Timing is set in Gulf Standard Time for families in Dubai.

  • A published session anatomy: what each block of the hour is for
  • Five evaluation handles that produce a creditable sentence on any study
  • Psychology demonstrations run live on screen, not described second-hand
  • Recording and data handling agreed in writing before the first paid session

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Content is what school supplies; technique is what a session should buy

Most Dubai students who need psychology help do not need the course taught again. They have had the lessons, they own the notes, and they can discuss obedience or memory with some fluency. What they lack is a set of moves: how to turn knowledge of a study into a sentence that scores, how to attach a concept to a stranger described in a question, how to decide in four seconds how long an answer should be. Those are techniques, they are learnable, and almost nobody teaches them as a separate thing.

This changes what an hour should contain. A session that spends fifty minutes explaining content the student has already met, and ten minutes on a worksheet, has bought a repeat of school at a premium. A session built around the student writing, being marked on screen, and then rewriting the single weakest move has bought something school cannot provide at class size. The format is why this page is organised around the anatomy of the hour rather than around a topic list.

There is a second reason to be explicit about structure. Online tuition has a reputation problem in some families, usually earned by sessions where a tutor talked at a screen for an hour while a student nodded. That is a bad lesson, not a bad medium. Screen-shared annotation of a student's own script, live, with both parties typing on the same page, is genuinely better than two people sharing one piece of paper at a kitchen table, and a demonstration run on screen with reaction times recorded in a shared sheet is better than a description of one.

On delivery and on honesty: tuition for UAE families is one-to-one over live video. There are no home visits anywhere in the UAE, including Dubai, because that service is offered only in India. Market rates for in-home visits are published by other providers and quoted later on this page with their sources, so a family can see the comparison rather than take a claim on trust. What the comparison shows for a small-entry option subject is that the choice is rarely online against in-person; it is a syllabus specialist against whoever is nearby.

What follows: the session anatomy block by block; the five evaluation handles; the mark-per-minute arithmetic; how demonstrations are actually run over video; the three-step move for unseen scenarios; what changes between 0266 and the courses after it; scheduling around Gulf Standard Time, Ramadan, mocks and the summer; the recording and data-protection position; and what each price tier in this market can and cannot do. No grade is predicted anywhere on this page, and no figure quoted here is an IB Gram price. Both of those omissions are deliberate, and both are easy to check against the rest of the page.

At a glance

  • The hour published as six blocks, each with a stated purpose
  • Evaluation taught as five reusable handles rather than as study-specific facts
  • Demonstrations run live with data recorded in a shared sheet
  • Scheduling set in Gulf Standard Time, adjusted for Ramadan and mocks
  • Price tiers compared on what each one cannot do, not only on cost
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Technique requirements change sharply between the three Cambridge and IB stages, and online delivery adds something different at each. These are the stages a Dubai psychology student passes through.

0266Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Psychology

Assessed by written examination, with answers short enough that technique dominates. A 15-year-old who knows where an answer stops, how long it should be, and which five handles produce an evaluation point is operating at a different level from one with the same knowledge and no moves. Online delivery adds live marking, which at this stage is the single most useful thing a session can contain.

In Dubai the practical constraint is time rather than ability. A Year 11 student carries nine or ten subjects plus the mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies lessons that KHDA requires of all private schools in the emirate. Technique work is attractive precisely because it is cheap in hours relative to content teaching.

9693Ages 16-17 · Year 12

Cambridge International AS Level Psychology

A standalone one-year qualification and the usual first half of the A Level. Studies are examined in procedural detail, so describing a method loosely stops being a minor loss and becomes the main one. The technique that transfers best from 0266 is precise method description; the technique that has to be rebuilt is answer length, because responses get considerably longer.

Dubai sixth forms running IGCSE Psychology do not all continue it to AS, since a small Year 12 group is harder to staff than a Year 10 option block. Ask the school whether the group ran this year and roughly how many students were in it, because a group of three or four can be withdrawn after offers are made.

9990Ages 17-18 · Year 13

Cambridge International A Level Psychology

The full qualification, adding specified applied areas studied in depth and expecting candidates to design and justify investigations rather than critique somebody else's. Ethical justification stops being a recall exercise and becomes something written into the student's own proposed design, which is the skill 0266 ethics work is really preparing.

Universities in the UAE and abroad rarely require psychology for a psychology degree, and several prefer a science or Mathematics alongside it. What they do assume is comfort with research design and statistics, which is the strand candidates most often skip. Check specific programme requirements with the admissions office rather than inferring them.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Psychology

The alternative sixth-form route, taken at Standard or Higher Level, assessed through extended written responses plus an internal investigation the student designs and reports. The writing conventions differ from the Cambridge route and critical thinking is credited explicitly, so a student moving across needs new habits rather than more facts.

Dubai has a substantial International Baccalaureate sector, with the programme accounting for 7% of private-school enrolment and three new IB schools among the seven opening for 2026-27. A student weighing Cambridge against the Diploma should ask which subject combinations each sixth form actually timetabled last year.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

This grid is not a topic list. These are the nine techniques a 0266 session works on, because technique is the part a class of twenty-eight rarely gets to and the part that moves a script fastest.

Evaluating a study

Five reusable handles

Producing a creditable criticism of any study using sample, method, ethics, ecological validity or usefulness, and then stating what the weakness does to the conclusion. Taught as five handles so the student is never dependent on remembering a study-specific criticism.

Applying to an unseen scenario

A three-step move

Naming the concept, defining it in one clause, attaching it to the person described in the question, and stating the consequence for that person. The largest single avoidable loss in the subject, and a technique rather than a knowledge gain.

Writing to the command word

Checked on every answer

Reading the verb and the mark allocation before writing, and letting those two things set the length and shape. Ten seconds per question, no knowledge required, and it corrects the over-writing that costs time later in the paper.

Mark-per-minute timing

Arithmetic, not instinct

Converting the total marks and total minutes on a paper into a rough rate, then checking an answer's length against the marks available. Students who do this stop giving four sentences to a two-word question and stop abandoning the final high-tariff item.

Describing a method precisely

The element lost first

Stating what was done to whom, in what order, with what measured, closely enough that a reader could repeat it. The commonest missing element on any recall check, and the one whose loss grows more expensive at AS and A Level.

Reading a data table

Quantitative element

Identifying what the rows and columns represent, spotting the comparison the question wants, and resisting the urge to describe every number. Short, examinable and widely skipped in revision until a marked data question appears.

Drawing and labelling a graph

Quantitative element

Choosing an appropriate chart, labelling both axes with units, and plotting accurately. Marks here are procedural rather than conceptual, which makes them the most reliably recoverable marks on the paper for any student willing to practise twice.

Justifying an ethical judgement

Examined across strands

Naming the principle, stating whether it was breached, satisfied or genuinely unclear, and saying what the researcher should have done instead. A moral complaint scores nothing; a named principle with a remedy scores twice.

Designing a simple investigation

Preparation for what follows

Writing a testable hypothesis, identifying variables, choosing a sampling method and anticipating confounds. Lightly examined at 0266 and central at AS Level, so the work done here is an investment rather than a requirement.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, distinguished by how much of the hour the student spends writing. That proportion is the honest measure of what a session is for.

Standard technique session

Sixty minutes to the published anatomy: recall opener, marking of the last task, teaching of the diagnosed gap, the student writing to the clock, live annotation of what was just written, then one rule and the next task. Roughly a third of the hour is the student writing, which is the point.

  • Six blocks with stated purposes, same order every week
  • At least fifteen minutes of the student writing, timed
  • Annotation on screen immediately after writing, not days later
  • Exactly one rule introduced per session

Demonstration session

An occasional session built around running a psychological task live rather than reading about one. Reaction-time tasks, word-list recall, interference tasks and simple perception demonstrations all work over screen share, with results typed straight into a shared sheet and then discussed as data.

  • A task run live, with the student as participant and then as researcher
  • Results recorded in a shared sheet both sides can see
  • Variables, controls and confounds identified from the student's own run
  • A short written method produced from what actually happened

Timed-paper session

Ninety minutes in the final stretch: a whole paper written to the clock with the camera on, then an immediate read-through of where time went. The timing data is the product. Marking follows afterwards, so the session itself is about pace and abandonment rather than about content.

  • A full paper under proper timed conditions
  • Time per question logged as the student works
  • Immediate review of any question left unfinished
  • Marking returned before the following session

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

The sixty-minute session, block by block

Publishing the structure of a session is unusual and it is the fastest way for a family to judge whether they are buying teaching or company. The shape below is what a 0266 technique session runs to, in the same order every week, because predictability lets a 15-year-old arrive knowing what is about to happen and reduces the warm-up to nothing.

Two blocks do most of the work and both involve the student producing rather than receiving. The writing block is fifteen minutes at the clock on a real past question, chosen for the question type with the largest current loss. The annotation block immediately follows it, with the tutor marking on screen while the student watches each sentence being credited or passed over. That sequence, write then watch it marked, is the mechanism. Reversing it, or separating the two by several days, removes most of the effect.

The opening and closing blocks are short and administrative in the best sense. Four minutes of cold recall at the start supplies the measurement. One rule and one task at the end supplies the continuity. What is deliberately absent is a long explanation block: content teaching occupies the middle and only where the marking has shown a genuine hole, because a student who already owns the notes does not need them read aloud. The structure also makes a session auditable from the outside. A parent who knows the hour runs in six blocks can ask what happened in each one, and the answer either matches or it does not. That is a very different conversation from asking how the lesson went.

Five handles that produce an evaluation sentence on any study

Evaluation is where psychology grades are decided and where students feel least equipped, usually because they have been taught criticisms study by study. That approach fails under pressure: faced with a study they half remember, a candidate has no criticism available and writes that it was old or small. Teaching five general handles instead gives them a tool that works on anything, including a study described in the question that they have never seen.

The handles are sample, method, ethics, ecological validity and usefulness. Each answers a different question and each produces a sentence with a predictable shape. The essential discipline is the second half of the sentence. Naming a weakness earns the opening mark; saying what the weakness does to the conclusion earns the one above it. A candidate who writes that the sample was all male and stops has done half the job and will usually be surprised by the mark.

The last column of the table matters as much as the others. A handle applied where it does not fit reads as a template, and examiners notice. Ecological validity is not a meaningful criticism of a naturalistic observation. Ethics is not a live criticism of a study that obtained consent and debriefed properly, except to note that it was handled well. Teaching students when to leave a handle alone is what separates a usable technique from a formula. The handles are drilled in a fixed order at first and then unordered. A student asked for three criticisms of a described study should be able to run down the list silently, discard the two that do not fit, and write the three that do, inside about a minute. That is the standard the block is working towards.

THE FIVE EVALUATION HANDLES AND WHERE EACH ONE STOPS WORKING
HandleThe question it answersThe sentence it producesWhen it does not apply
SampleWho was studied, and can findings generalise? The sample was X, so the conclusion may not hold for YWhere the claim is explicitly limited to that group
MethodWas the design capable of showing what is claimed? The design measured X, which is weak evidence for YWhere the design matches the claim closely
EthicsWas a named principle breached, met or unclear?Principle X was breached; the remedy was YWhere consent and debriefing were handled properly
Ecological validityWould this happen outside the study setting? The task was artificial, so behaviour outside may differNaturalistic observations and field studies
UsefulnessWhat can anyone do with this finding? The finding supports X in practice, but only where Y holdsPurely theoretical studies with no applied claim
03

Mark-per-minute: the arithmetic nobody teaches

  • Total marks divided by usable minutes gives the working rate
  • Length expectation set per question before writing begins
  • Command word underlined, mark allocation circled, every time
  • Abandoned questions logged separately from wrong answers
  • Timing treated as its own problem, not as a symptom of weak revision

Timing problems masquerade as knowledge problems and are much cheaper to fix. A student who abandons the final high-tariff question has not failed to learn that topic; they have spent the available minutes somewhere less profitable. The repair is arithmetic done once, before any revision, and then applied as a habit.

Divide the total marks on the paper by the total minutes available, allowing a few minutes for reading and checking. That gives a rough rate, and the rate converts into a length expectation for every question on the paper. A two-mark question gets a fraction of a minute and two words. A ten-mark question gets several minutes and a structured answer. Students who do this stop writing paragraphs for identify questions, which is where most of the lost time originates.

The habit that makes it stick is mechanical: underline the command word and circle the mark allocation before writing anything. It takes about ten seconds a question, requires no subject knowledge whatsoever, and in a timed-paper session shows up immediately in the time log. A student who ran out of time on two consecutive papers and then does not, after one session on this, has had the cheapest grade improvement available in the subject. It also removes the most common source of panic in the hall, which is realising at the forty-minute mark that a third of the paper remains. The log is what makes this measurable rather than anecdotal. In a timed-paper session the time spent on each question is written down as the student works, so the conversation afterwards is about two specific questions rather than about working faster in general.

04

Running psychology demonstrations over live video

Psychology is a practical subject taught almost entirely on paper, which is a loss, and online delivery recovers some of it more easily than a classroom does. Several classic tasks run perfectly well over screen share. A word list can be presented on screen for a controlled interval and recall tested immediately, which produces a serial-position pattern a student can see in their own data. A colour-word interference task can be shown and timed. Simple reaction-time tasks and perceptual illusions work equally well.

The teaching value is not the demonstration itself but the shift in role afterwards. The student participates, then is asked to be the researcher: what was the independent variable, what was measured, what was held constant, what confounds were present, what would a second trial need to control. Answering those questions about an experience they just had is a different cognitive act from answering them about a study in a textbook, and the vocabulary sticks noticeably better.

Two cautions apply. First, a demonstration is a teaching device, not research, and nothing from it should be presented as a finding; students should be told that explicitly so the distinction between a classroom exercise and published evidence stays clear. Second, nothing should be run that involves distress, deception of the student, or the collection of personal information about anybody else. A reaction-time task is fine. Anything involving a family member as an unwitting participant is not, and the ethics discussion that follows is more useful than the data would have been.

05

The unseen scenario: a three-step move

Apply questions give a short description of a person or situation the student has never seen and ask them to use course concepts on it. They are the largest single source of avoidable loss in 0266, and the reason is almost comic: students write a correct, well-organised account of the relevant concept and never mention the person in the question. The content is right, the answer is wrong, and the mark reflects the answer.

The fix is a three-step move executed in a fixed order. Name the concept. Define it in one clause, not a paragraph. Attach it to the person by name, using the details the question supplied. Then state the consequence for that person specifically. The attachment step is the one that gets skipped under pressure, which is why the rule given to students is blunt: the person in the question must appear in your answer by name, at least twice.

Practising this does not need new content, which makes it fast. A tutor takes five short scenarios in one session, and the student writes four sentences on each rather than a full answer, because the move is what is being rehearsed rather than the stamina. The table sets out the steps with wording that reliably works and the failure each step prevents. Within two sessions most students stop producing scenario-free answers, and the question type that was the worst on their scorecard is usually no longer in the bottom two.

What changes after 0266, and how long each gap takes to close

Families often ask whether 0266 prepares a student for what comes next. It prepares them unevenly, and knowing which gaps are real prevents both complacency and panic. Some skills transfer wholesale: evaluation handles, ethical reasoning, the command-word habit. Others change in kind, and a student who assumes they transfer has an uncomfortable first term in Year 12.

The largest change is the level of procedural detail expected about studies. At 0266 a method stated roughly right is often enough; at AS Level a loose method is the main loss on a question. The second largest is answer length, which grows considerably and requires planning rather than fluency. The third is statistics, which at Cambridge AS and A Level and in the IB Diploma internal investigation stops being optional reading and becomes a working requirement.

The table puts weeks against each gap, which should be read as a planning estimate rather than a promise, because it depends entirely on the student. The useful point is the ordering. Closing the method-detail gap is quick and should be done first, because it also improves 0266 marks. Statistics is slower and can wait until the summer between the courses. Independent reading is the slowest and the one no tutor can do on a student's behalf, which is worth saying to a Year 11 student before they choose a sixth-form subject on the strength of enjoying it at 16. None of this is an argument against continuing. It is an argument for spending the summer between the courses on two specific things, method detail and statistics, instead of arriving in September and discovering both at once alongside new content.

Scheduling an online session in the Gulf calendar

The practical failure mode of online tuition is not technology. It is a slot that stops working in week five and nobody renegotiates it. Six constraints account for nearly all of it, and each has an adjustment that keeps the engagement alive rather than quietly ending it.

The most common is a tutor in another time zone whose convenient hours are a Dubai family's inconvenient ones, or the reverse. Sessions are therefore agreed in Gulf Standard Time explicitly, in writing, with the tutor's local time noted alongside so neither side is guessing after a clock change elsewhere. The second is the school run and the bus, which varies by community: a student who gets home at 4.15pm and one who gets home at 5.40pm cannot share a slot pattern, and the outer communities are consistently the later.

Ramadan, the mock fortnight and the summer break each need a stated plan rather than an improvised one. During Ramadan most families shift to post-Iftar timing and shorten the session slightly, keeping frequency intact because the writing habit is what frequency protects. During mocks the right move is to reduce what is set rather than add to it. Over the summer, families travelling between countries can usually keep a reduced pattern running, which matters more before a November series than before a June one. The sixth constraint is the final six weeks, when every demand arrives together. The adjustment there is subtraction rather than addition: two timed papers, no new topics, and protected sleep. Families who add sessions in that window usually find the extra hours displace the independent revision that was doing the real work.

Recordings, privacy and a minor's data

An online lesson generates data about a child: a video feed, possibly a recording, written work, marks, notes about weaknesses, and sometimes the name of their school. That is personal data about a minor and it deserves an explicit position rather than a reassuring sentence. The UAE's Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection governs personal data here, and a family is entitled to ask how a provider handles it.

Recording should be a decision the family makes, not a default a platform applies. Before the first paid session, a parent should establish four things in writing: whether sessions are recorded at all, who holds any recording and where, how long it is kept, and how to have it deleted. Recordings can be genuinely useful, since a student can rewatch the annotation of their own script, but the usefulness does not make the question optional.

The same discipline applies to lead forms and to what a tutor is told. A form that collects a child's school, grades, and difficulties without stating why it needs them and how long it keeps them is collecting more than it should. Our position is that written work, marks and session notes live in a folder the family controls, that nothing about a child is collected without a stated purpose, and that a privacy policy link sits on every page. Those are commitments about process, not claims about outcomes, which is the kind of claim a page like this should be making.

09

What each price tier can and cannot do

Dubai's tutoring market spans roughly fourteenfold from the cheapest advertised hour to the most expensive, and the advertising for all of it uses similar language. Rather than ranking the tiers, the honest framing is what each one reliably delivers and where it stops. A budget tier that explains content well is good value for a Year 10 student with a content gap and poor value for a Year 11 student with a technique problem, because marking to a published scheme is not what that price buys.

The figures below were read in October 2026 and belong to the providers named. Bestimate's Dubai rate table and the published pages of EdFlik, Tutopiya, Unitors, TutorChase and BartyED supply the bands. None of these is an IB Gram rate: ours depends on level, session length and format, and the trial lesson plus a short consultation establishes it. Any page that quotes a single number for an entire market is simplifying something a parent needs to see in detail.

Read the fourth column first. The question that matters is not what a tier costs but what it cannot do, because that is where families get caught. No tier, at any price, can produce the student's writing for them, promise a particular grade, or substitute for the hours a student puts in alone. A provider who implies otherwise is selling something that does not exist, and in a market where several ranking pages publish no price at all, scepticism about the ones making the largest claims is well placed.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Over live video the question stops being which tutors are nearby and becomes when the student can reliably sit down. These are the patterns that shape a Dubai timetable.

Al Safa

Short runs to the Jumeirah school belt, so after-school starts are realistic. The usual complication is a second child at a school with a later finish, which tends to set the slot for the whole household rather than for one student.

Al Wasl

Central location with quick access to several schools and dense afternoon traffic between them. A session over video sidesteps the traffic entirely, which in this part of the city is worth more than it sounds on paper.

Zabeel

Mixed housing close to the city centre with reliable connectivity. Study space is the constraint rather than bandwidth, and the household agreeing a quiet hour matters more than the equipment used.

Oud Metha

Close to a long-established school cluster with large cohorts. Students here often finish early and arrive home with energy left, which makes an earlier evening slot genuinely productive rather than merely available.

Al Karama

High-density housing with students travelling to several different school districts. Journey times vary day to day, so a fixed weekend session holds across a term better than a weekday one that depends on a bus.

Al Nahda

Apartment district on the Sharjah side of the city with long commutes in both directions. Evening sessions after the journey has been absorbed work better than anything attempted immediately on arrival home.

Bur Dubai

Established district with a wide spread of curricula in nearby schools. Confirm the examination board before the first session, because two students in the same building frequently sit different qualifications in the same subject.

Al Satwa

Central and well connected to several school bus routes, so arrival times are predictable. A short recall opener suits students here, who tend to get home earlier than those in the outer communities.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Indian and mixed-board schools across central Dubai

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Agree the slot in Gulf Standard Time, in writing

With the tutor's own local time noted beside it. Clock changes elsewhere in the world are the single most common cause of a missed online session, and a slot recorded in two time zones survives them. Set it by the latest school finisher in the household rather than the earliest.

  2. 02

Settle the recording question before the first paid hour

Whether sessions are recorded, who holds the file, where it is stored, how long it is kept and how to have it deleted. Four questions, answered in writing. Recordings can be genuinely useful for rewatching annotation of a script, and that does not make the questions optional.

Diagnose the question type, then book technique work

The trial lesson, one free per subject with no payment details taken beforehand, produces a short timed answer marked on screen. That identifies which question type is losing most, which determines whether the first block is evaluation handles, the scenario move, or timing arithmetic.

  4. 04

Hold the session anatomy for at least a month

Same six blocks, same order, every week. Predictability removes the warm-up and lets a student arrive already knowing what is about to happen. Changing the structure weekly is how a technique engagement quietly reverts to a conversation about content.

  5. 05

Add timed whole papers only at the end

Two complete papers under proper conditions in the final six weeks, with time per question logged as the student works. The timing data is the point. Running whole papers early produces demoralising marks on content that has not been taught yet.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The session structure is published, not improvised

Six blocks with stated purposes, roughly a third of the hour spent with the student writing. A family can check that structure against what actually happened, which is harder to do with a session described only as personalised support.

Evaluation is taught as five reusable handles

Study-by-study criticisms collapse under pressure when a student half remembers the study. Sample, method, ethics, ecological validity and usefulness work on anything, including a study described in the question that they have never seen before.

Demonstrations are run, not described

Word-list recall, interference tasks and reaction-time tasks all run over screen share with results typed into a shared sheet. A student who identifies the variables in a task they just performed retains the vocabulary noticeably better than one reading about it.

Scheduling constraints are planned for by name

Gulf Standard Time agreed in writing, the slot set by the latest school finisher, post-Iftar timing during Ramadan, less work rather than more during mocks, and a reduced pattern agreed before summer travel starts.

The data position is stated as process, not reassurance

Recording, storage, retention and deletion answered in writing before the first paid hour, with the UAE's personal data protection law named. Written work and notes live in a folder the family controls.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How does an online 0266 lesson actually run from start to finish?+

To a fixed six-block hour. Four minutes of cold recall on two studies with no prompts, which is measurement rather than warm-up. Eight minutes reviewing the marked task from last week. Around eighteen minutes of teaching, but only where the marking exposed a genuine hole. Fifteen minutes of the student writing to the clock on a real past question. Ten minutes of the tutor annotating that answer on screen while the student watches. Five minutes to state one rule and set one task. Roughly a third of the hour is the student producing, which is the design.

Can psychology experiments be demonstrated in an online 0266 lesson?+

Several classic tasks run well over screen share. A word list can be shown for a controlled interval and recall tested at once, producing a serial-position pattern in the student's own data. Colour-word interference tasks, simple reaction-time tasks and perceptual illusions all work. The value comes afterwards, when the student switches from participant to researcher and identifies the variables, controls and confounds in something they just experienced. Nothing is run that involves distress, deception of the student, or collecting information about anyone else, and nothing from a demonstration is presented as research evidence.

What are the five ways to evaluate a study in 0266?+

Sample, method, ethics, ecological validity and usefulness. Each answers a different question and produces a sentence with a predictable shape, which means a student is never stranded by half remembering a study-specific criticism. The discipline is the second half of the sentence: naming the weakness earns the opening mark, and saying what it does to the conclusion earns the one above. Knowing when a handle does not apply matters equally. Ecological validity is not a real criticism of a naturalistic observation, and applying it there reads as a template.

How do I work out how long my child should spend on a 0266 question?+

Divide the total marks on the paper by the usable minutes, allowing a few minutes for reading and checking, which gives a working rate. That rate converts into a length expectation per question: a two-mark item gets a fraction of a minute and about two words, a ten-mark item gets several minutes and a plan. The habit that makes it stick is underlining the command word and circling the mark allocation before writing. Ten seconds a question, no subject knowledge needed, and it is often the cheapest grade improvement available.

What changes between 0266 and AS Level Psychology?+

Three things, in order of size. Procedural detail about studies: a loosely stated method is a minor loss at 0266 and the main loss at AS Level. Answer length, which grows enough that responses need planning rather than fluency. And statistics, which stops being optional reading and becomes a working requirement. Evaluation handles, ethical reasoning and the command-word habit transfer unchanged. Closing the method-detail gap first makes sense because it also improves 0266 marks, while statistics is better handled in the summer between the two courses.

Is the cheapest online 0266 tutoring tier ever the right choice?+

Yes, for a specific situation. Budget online tutoring, advertised in Dubai from around AED 33 to 52 by Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 by EdFlik when read in October 2026, explains content and supports homework perfectly adequately. That is good value for a Year 10 student with a content gap. It is poor value for a Year 11 student whose problem is technique, because marking to a published scheme and splitting a paper by question type is not what the price buys. Match the tier to the diagnosis rather than to the budget alone.

Do online 0266 lessons work for a student who says they learn better in person?+

Usually yes, once the session is built properly, because the objection is almost always to a particular bad experience rather than to the medium. A tutor talking at a screen for an hour is a poor lesson in any format. A student writing for fifteen minutes and then watching their own sentences annotated live on the shared screen is doing something that has no in-person equivalent at a kitchen table. What genuinely helps is a decent microphone, an agreed quiet hour, and a session structure the student can predict before it starts.

What time of day suits an online 0266 lesson in Dubai?+

It depends on the household rather than on the subject. Families in the central districts often finish school early enough for a 4.30pm or 5pm start to be productive. Those in the outer communities, where bus journeys can run well over an hour, generally do better at 6.30pm or 7pm, after the day has been absorbed. The rule that holds across the city is to set the slot by the latest finisher in the household rather than the earliest, because a session interrupted by a second school arrival loses the writing block first.

Will our 0266 sessions pause during the summer holidays?+

That is a decision worth making deliberately rather than by default. For a student entering a November series, the summer is the most valuable block available and pausing it is costly. For a June-series candidate, a reduced pattern of one session a fortnight keeps recall from decaying without consuming the holiday. Families travelling between countries can usually keep sessions running over video, which is one of the clearer practical advantages of the format. What rarely works is an unspoken assumption that sessions will resume on their own in September.

Can an online 0266 tutor follow my child's own school deadlines?+

They should, and a tutor who teaches to a generic sequence instead is adding a second syllabus to a student's week. Send the school scheme of work if the school publishes one, the dates of internal assessments and mocks, and any deadline the school has set. The practical effect is that teaching follows the school's order rather than a textbook order, and that a mock fortnight becomes a week of reduced work rather than a week of double work. Tutors who insist on their own sequence are usually working around not knowing the school's.

How does an online 0266 tutor handle the data and graph questions?+

Better than a classroom can, because a shared sheet is a live tool. Data generated in a demonstration goes straight into a sheet both sides can see, and the student plots it, labels the axes with units, and then answers the question types that attach to it. Marks on this strand are procedural rather than conceptual, which makes them the most reliably recoverable marks on the paper for any student prepared to practise twice. It is also the strand most commonly missing from a revision plan entirely until a marked data question appears.

Is a group online 0266 class cheaper and still useful?+

Cheaper per student, and useful for a particular purpose. A group works for shared explanation, worked examples and keeping a motivated student to a structure. What it cannot deliver is per-student marking, an individual question-type split, or a cold-recall check that pauses on one student's missing element. For a 0266 candidate whose problem is technique rather than content, the thing a group removes is precisely the thing worth paying for. For content catch-up early in Year 10, a group is a reasonable economy.

What internet speed do online 0266 lessons need in Dubai?+

Far less than most families assume, and the limiting factor is almost never bandwidth. A standard home fibre connection anywhere in the emirate carries video and screen sharing comfortably. The two things that genuinely degrade a session are the microphone and the room. A built-in laptop microphone in an open-plan apartment collects the whole household, and a tutor who cannot hear a hesitant half-answer cannot diagnose it. Headphones with a boom microphone cost very little and solve it. A second screen or tablet helps but is not necessary.

Can one online tutor take my child from 0266 through to A Level psychology?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking the question explicitly rather than assuming continuity. Ask whether the tutor has taught Cambridge AS and A Level Psychology to examination as well as the IGCSE, because the procedural detail, answer length and statistics expected at the later stage are genuinely different demands. Continuity has real value: a tutor who already holds a student's recall history and question-type history starts Year 12 with information nobody else has. It is not worth keeping a tutor who has only taught the earlier course, though.

Ask what happens in minutes thirty to forty-five

One question separates a technique session from a pleasant hour: what happens between minute thirty and minute forty-five? If the answer is that the student writes, to the clock, on a real past question, and then watches it marked, you are buying the thing that moves a script. Send the syllabus code, the series and the last marked paper, take the free trial lesson, one per subject with no payment details taken beforehand, and you will see that block for yourself before paying for anything.
