Cambridge IGCSE Maths 0580 Home Tutor in Dubai

Families searching for a Cambridge IGCSE Maths 0580 home tutor in Dubai are usually asking a money question first: what does an hour cost, and why does one hour cost three times another. Published Dubai rates run from around AED 45 at the budget end to AED 650 at the top, with the in-home band carrying travel inside it. This page answers that honestly, then explains why IB Gram delivers the teaching as one-to-one live video in Gulf Standard Time instead.

  • Every AED figure here is another provider's published rate, with the month we read it
  • No invented price list; we quote after a free trial lesson
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free of charge, and we say so
  • Lessons are one-to-one on live video; UAE home visits are not a service we sell

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The price of an hour, and the eight things that decide it

Start with the spread, because it is wider than any other service a Dubai family buys. The published hourly rates for mathematics support in this emirate run from roughly AED 33 at the cheapest online tier to AED 650 for a premium named tutor. That is a factor of twenty for something advertised in almost identical language. Three of the six most visible pages in this market publish no price at all, and two of the three that do quote US dollars, which is not the currency any of this is actually paid in. So the first job of this page is to put the dirham figures in one place, each one attributed to whoever published it.

The second job is to explain the spread, because almost all of it is explicable and none of it is random. Eight things move a 0580 quote in Dubai: whether anybody travels, whether the tutor has actually taught the specification rather than mathematics in general, whether written work comes back marked, the tier, how close the exam series is, the session length, the group size, and whether you are paying weekly or in a block. Each of those is something you can ask about before any money moves, and each has an answer that either arrives in a sentence or does not.

The third job is the awkward one. This page is indexed against a phrase that contains the word home, because that is what Dubai parents type. IB Gram does not send a tutor to a UAE address. Home visits are a service we run only in India, and that is true on every one of the country pages on this site. What we run for UAE families is one-to-one teaching on live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with the same tutor each week. Rather than hide that behind a form, this page sets the two models side by side with the costs that do not appear on an invoice, and lets the comparison stand.

The honest summary of that comparison is that the in-home model wins on physical presence and loses on almost everything financial. A tutor who drives to Mudon for a 5pm lesson commits ninety minutes of their working day to deliver sixty minutes of teaching, and that ratio sits inside the AED 180 to AED 500 published band whether or not anybody itemises it. A visiting tutor will also usually insist on a longer minimum session for the same reason, so the real monthly commitment is larger than the hourly figure suggests. Remove travel and the same qualified teacher is available in a band that starts at AED 150.

There is one piece of genuinely good news for Dubai households this year. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under the second of Dubai's economic incentives packages, valued at AED 1.5 billion. For a family that had budgeted for a fee rise, that is unallocated money rather than a reason to spend it, and the section on where the dirhams do the most work is written for exactly that situation.

Everything here is specific to Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 and to Dubai. The permit position under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and what it costs, which is nothing. What a cheap hour contains and what an expensive one contains. Which subjects on a Year 11 timetable carry a premium and why. And what to buy first if the budget is fixed at a thousand dirhams a month.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Rates in this market are set by level as much as by tutor, and the same person charges differently at each one. These are the levels a Dubai maths enquiry covers and what families typically end up spending at each.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580

The level most Dubai maths enquiries concern, and the cheapest of the examined levels to support. Published agency rates for IGCSE online start around AED 150, with specialist bands running to AED 300 and beyond close to the series. Most families buy either a weekly hour across Year 11 or a block of six to ten sessions after a disappointing mock, and the second pattern is the more common one in this emirate.

Dubai's Year 11 cohort is large, which works in a family's favour on price: there are more people who can teach this level than any other, so the market is genuinely competitive. It works against you on timing, because every family in the emirate wants the same 5pm weeknight slots in the spring term, and the good tutors fill them by February.

IGCSE+Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

A scarcer level and therefore a dearer one. 0606 introduces differentiation, integration, kinematics and binomial series, so the pool of people who can teach it well is much smaller than the pool who can teach 0580, and rates sit nearer the specialist band. Families supporting both subjects usually find that the 0606 hour costs more than the 0580 hour from the same provider, which is scarcity rather than difficulty pricing.

Not every Dubai school offers 0606, and where it is offered it is often restricted to a set within the top group. That scarcity is also why a family who needs it late in the year sometimes cannot find anybody locally at any price, which is worth knowing in September rather than in March.

AS/AAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Cambridge International AS and A Level Mathematics

Roughly a band above IGCSE in this market. Published specialist and examiner-tier rates of AED 270 to AED 650 are quoted mainly against this level and the Diploma. Hours bought also tend to rise, because the content volume is larger and students are working to university offers, so a family that spent AED 800 a month in Year 11 commonly spends double that in Year 12.

The practical Dubai consideration is that sixth-form maths assumes Extended-level fluency and teaches very little of it. The cheapest intervention available to a Year 11 family planning A Level mathematics is algebra work in the summer before Year 12, at the IGCSE rate, rather than catch-up at the sixth-form rate in October.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Mathematics

The dearest level in the Dubai market, with agency rates for IB starting around AED 200 and specialist bands reaching AED 450 and above. Part of that is content, part is the internally assessed exploration, which needs supervision rather than teaching and takes judgement a cheaper hour does not include. Families moving from 0580 into the Diploma should expect the hourly figure to rise even with the same provider.

Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, three of them International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places. More Diploma places means more Diploma demand for tutors, and in a market where supply at that level is already the tightest, that is a reason to book early rather than a reason to expect prices to fall.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Not every hour on a Year 11 timetable costs the same, and the reason is almost always supply rather than difficulty. This is what a Dubai family can expect to pay a premium for and what they cannot.

Mathematics 0580

Core and Extended

The most competitively supplied subject at this level in Dubai, which keeps rates near the published agency floor of about AED 150 online. A large pool of capable teachers means you can afford to be selective about whether they have actually taught the specification rather than mathematics generally.

Additional Mathematics 0606

Extended students only

Scarce and therefore dearer, typically a band above 0580 from the same provider. Calculus at this level narrows the pool sharply, and in a bad week a family may find nobody available locally at any rate. Book in the autumn rather than the spring if the subject is on the timetable.

Physics 0625

Core and Extended

Carries a premium over maths in this market, partly because fewer people teach it and partly because the practical paper and the mathematical content together narrow the field. Families supporting both maths and physics usually pay more per hour for the physics.

Chemistry 0620

Core and Extended

Similar supply position to physics. The organic chemistry and mole calculations are the two areas families most often buy support for, and a tutor who can teach both the calculation and the mechanism is priced accordingly rather than generously.

Biology 0610

Core and Extended

Better supplied than physics or chemistry, so closer to the maths rate. The common enquiry is extended-response writing rather than content, which is cheaper to fix than it looks and often needs fewer sessions than a family has budgeted for.

Coordinated Sciences 0654

Double award

One qualification covering all three sciences, which means a tutor has to be competent across all three or a family has to buy three partial hours. Where one person can genuinely cover it, that hour is worth more than a single-science hour and is usually priced as such.

English First Language 0500

Single tier

Well supplied in Dubai and close to the maths rate. The spend here tends to be short and targeted: a handful of sessions on directed writing and on analysing an unseen passage, rather than a year-long commitment.

English as a Second Language 0510 and 0511

Core and Extended

Heavily demanded across the emirate's mixed-language intake, and well supplied, so rates stay moderate. The premium, where it exists, is for a tutor who can run the speaking component properly rather than only the written papers.

Economics 0455 and Business Studies 0450

Single tier

Moderately supplied, with rates close to maths. These are exam-technique subjects more than content subjects at IGCSE, so the value is concentrated in marked written answers, which is exactly the thing a cheap hour leaves out.

Computer Science 0478

Single tier

The clearest scarcity premium on a Dubai Year 11 timetable. Few people teach the specification, the pseudocode conventions are specific, and families routinely report paying noticeably more per hour here than for mathematics from the same provider.

Arabic as a First or Foreign Language

0508 and 0544

A separate market with its own supply constraints. Worth noting that Dubai schools must ensure teachers of Arabic and Islamic Education hold appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects, which is a school requirement rather than a private-tutoring one, and a useful question to ask about anyway.

Examination Technique Across Subjects

All IGCSE subjects

The cheapest marks on any timetable and the hardest thing to buy, because it does not look like teaching. Showing method, respecting accuracy conventions, reading the command word and finishing the paper are worth a grade in several subjects at once, and an hour spent on them is not priced differently from an hour spent on content.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

How you buy matters nearly as much as what you pay. These are the four arrangements that exist in this market, with the money consequence of each stated rather than implied.

Pay-as-you-go weekly, one-to-one on live video

The most flexible and, per hour, rarely the cheapest. You pay for what you use, you can stop after any session, and the provider carries the risk of you leaving. For a family unsure whether tutoring is the right purchase at all, paying the premium for two or three weeks is cheaper than committing to a block that turns out to be the wrong thing.

  • No commitment beyond the next session
  • Highest per-hour cost of the four models
  • Right for a first month, wrong for a whole exam year
  • Ask whether the hourly rate falls once a pattern is established

A block of six to ten sessions after a marked mock

The pattern most Dubai families actually use, and the one that matches how 0580 problems present themselves. A mock comes back in November or January, the losses get sorted by cause, and a defined block of sessions addresses the two biggest. Blocks are usually discounted against the weekly rate because the provider is buying certainty, and the risk you take is sessions you never use.

  • Scoped from the marked script, with a stated endpoint
  • Typically discounted 5-15% against the weekly figure in this market
  • Ask whether unused sessions expire and whether they roll over
  • Ends with a written handover rather than an automatic renewal

Monthly package, online

Advertised in this market at around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, which works out near the lower qualified-teacher band if the sessions are full hours and well above it if they are forty-five minutes. The arithmetic is the whole story with packages, and it is always worth doing before comparing. Packages suit families who want a predictable monthly figure more than a minimum per-hour price.

  • Divide by hours, not by sessions, before comparing
  • Check the session length written into the package
  • Ask what happens to sessions missed inside the month
  • Predictable budgeting, rarely the lowest hourly cost

Small group of two to four

The cheapest hours available and the weakest diagnosis. For 0580 revision in the final term, a well-run group of four working through timed questions is genuinely useful and considerably cheaper per head. For a student with a specific algebraic gap, it is close to useless, because the whole value of a session is one person's errors being found and corrected.

  • Lowest cost per student of any format
  • Works for timed practice and shared topics
  • Poor for diagnosing one student's specific gap
  • Ask how the group was matched, and on what evidence

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What the search phrase means, and what IB Gram actually sells

A Cambridge IGCSE Maths 0580 home tutor in Dubai, as the phrase is used in this market, means a person who comes to your villa or apartment and teaches your child at the kitchen table. Published rates for that service in Dubai run from AED 180 to AED 500 an hour with travel inside the figure. It is a real service, plenty of providers in the emirate sell it, and this page is not going to pretend it does not work.

IB Gram does not sell it. We do not send a tutor to a UAE address, and home visits are a service we run only in India. What we run for Dubai families is one-to-one teaching on live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with the same tutor each week, working from your child's statement of entry and their marked scripts. That is stated here in plain words rather than discovered after a form has been filled in, because the alternative is wasting your time and ours.

The reason this page exists under that phrase is that the money question behind it is the same either way. A parent typing it wants to know what the market charges, what makes one hour worth three times another, and what they should buy with a fixed monthly figure. Those answers do not depend on whether anybody drives anywhere, and nobody else in this market publishes them: three of the six most visible pages in this cluster quote no price at all, and the two that do quote dollars.

So this page is built as a pricing page. The provider models with their published dirham rates and their sources. The true cost of a home visit once the items that never appear on an invoice are counted. The eight things that move a quote, each with the question that tests it. A cost-in-context table anchored on the KHDA fee freeze. The permit position, which costs nothing and which almost nobody asks about. And a straight answer to the question a budget-constrained family is actually asking: with a thousand dirhams a month, what do we buy first?

02

The Dubai market in dirhams, by provider model

Every rate in the table below was published by the provider named in the last column, read in October 2026. None of them is an IB Gram price. We quote after a free trial lesson, because the honest figure depends on the tier, the number of weeks and how far the exam series is, and inventing a single number would be less useful to you than the attributed range.

The pattern across the table is that the model explains the price far better than the quality does. A budget online platform and a specialist agency can supply tutors with similar paper qualifications at a fourfold difference in rate, because one is selling volume and the other is selling matching and replacement. An in-home service and an online agency can field the same person at different prices, because one of them is paying for a car. An international marketplace prices in sterling or dollars and converts, which adds an exchange spread nobody mentions.

The column that matters most for a UAE parent is the fourth one. Private tutoring here is regulated by permit, and the question of who your tutor is and where they are physically based is one almost no provider volunteers. A UAE-resident individual giving private lessons needs a MoHRE private tuition work permit; a tutor teaching from outside the UAE is in a different position entirely, because that permit is a UAE work permit. Both can be legitimate. What is not legitimate is a provider routing a UAE family to an overseas number while implying a local service, which two of the competitor pages in this market do.

One more honest note about the top of the table. A rate of AED 650 an hour is not a fraud and it is also rarely the right purchase for 0580. At this level the specification is widely taught and the pool of competent teachers is large, so paying examiner-tier rates buys seniority the qualification does not demand. Save the premium band for a scarce level, such as Additional Mathematics 0606 or a Diploma internally assessed exploration, where the pool genuinely is small.

03

What a home visit costs once you count what is not on the invoice

The published in-home band already contains the travel, but it does not contain everything a household spends. Several real costs sit outside the invoice entirely, and they are the reason families who switch models often report the change felt bigger than the rate difference suggested.

The largest is the minimum session. A tutor driving across Dubai for a single hour has committed around ninety minutes of their day to earn sixty minutes of fee, so most in-home providers set a ninety- or one-hundred-and-twenty-minute minimum. That is sensible for them and expensive for you, and for a fifteen-year-old working on algebra it is also pedagogically worse: two hours of mathematics on a weeknight after a full school day produces diminishing returns somewhere around minute fifty. The monthly commitment is therefore larger than the hourly comparison implies, for teaching that is not better.

The second is the cost of a bad match. Tutoring matches fail for ordinary reasons: personality, pace, the tutor turning out to have taught a different specification. In an in-home arrangement the replacement has to be someone else who will also drive to your community at that hour, which in the outer villa communities may be nobody. On video the replacement can be anywhere, which makes switching cheap and therefore makes it actually happen rather than being endured until June.

The third is the cancellation. A visiting tutor whose session is cancelled at four hours' notice has usually already structured their afternoon around the drive, so in-home terms typically charge for it. A video session cancelled at the same notice is normally rescheduled inside the same week. Over a Dubai school year containing fixtures, assemblies, travel and the occasional sandstorm day, that difference is several sessions, which is real money rather than a convenience.

Eight things that move a 0580 quote in Dubai, and the question that tests each

Each row below is something you can ask about on a ten-minute call before any money moves, and each has an answer that either lands immediately or does not. A provider who cannot say whether written work comes back marked, or whether their tutor has taught the specification as opposed to mathematics generally, has not priced the work they are quoting for.

The item families most often fail to ask about is marking. There is a genuine difference between an hour of conversation about mathematics and an hour that produces annotated written work in the student's own hand showing where a method mark was available and where an accuracy mark went. The second takes the tutor unpaid time outside the session, so it is either inside the rate or it is not happening. Ask directly, and ask to see an example of what comes back.

The item families most often overestimate is the exam-proximity premium. Rates do firm up in the spring term, because demand for the 5pm weeknight slots across the emirate peaks at once and the better tutors are full. But the premium is modest compared with the cost of what late booking does to the work itself: six weeks out, nothing new can be taught and the plan narrows to converting partial knowledge into whole marks. Booking in October costs less and buys a different, better service, which is the clearest piece of financial advice on this page.

One row deserves particular attention in this emirate. Group size is the only lever that genuinely halves a price, and it is also the one that most changes what you receive. Four students working through timed questions with a competent teacher is good value in the final term. The same four students in November, one of whom cannot rearrange a formula, produces one child being taught and three being supervised. If the honest diagnosis is a specific gap, the group is not a cheaper version of the right thing; it is a cheaper version of a different thing.

05

Tutoring cost in context: fees, entries and a realistic monthly figure

Tutoring is bought out of the same household budget as school fees, so the figure that matters is the monthly one rather than the hourly one. The useful anchor this year is that KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. For a family who had planned a fee increase into their budget, that is unallocated money.

The monthly estimates in the table come from Bestimate's Dubai rate work and are given as ranges for a weekly one-hour session at three tiers, plus the exam-year figure where families step up to two sessions a week. Read them as the market rather than as a quote. The notable thing is how wide the budget-to-specialist spread is for the same nominal service, and how quickly a second weekly session changes the monthly total: most of the jump between the mid and the exam-year row is frequency, not rate.

Two items that catch Dubai families out are worth naming. The first is that examination entry fees are a school and centre matter, not a tutoring matter, and nothing a tutor charges includes them. They only become a household line at all if a student is entered as a private candidate rather than through their school, in which case the centre sets the fee and the deadline. The second is value added tax: how tuition is treated for VAT is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority and not something a tutoring page should assert, so the only question worth asking a provider is whether the figure they have quoted you is the figure you will pay.

The last row in the table is the one most families should look at hardest. A two-year plan sounds prudent and is usually the wrong shape for 0580. The subject is examined once at the end, almost all the recoverable marks sit in algebra and examination convention, and both of those respond to concentrated work rather than to a long thin drip. A defined block after a marked mock, repeated once, costs considerably less than twenty-four months of weekly sessions and in most cases achieves more.

Is the person teaching your child legally permitted to do it?

This is the question with the clearest answer in the whole market and the one least often asked. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, it is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, and the application is made through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Two consequences follow for a parent comparing prices. First, nobody can justify a higher rate on the basis of permit costs, because there are none. Second, anybody offering private lessons in the UAE without one is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so any figure quoted at you is unverified; a well-circulated number could not be confirmed against an official source and should not be repeated.

There is a second rule that matters in Abu Dhabi and is worth knowing wherever you live, because the principle behind it recurs. Press reporting indicates that the emirate's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and that the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the permit holder's own school. Treat that as press-reported rather than as the regulator's exact wording, and verify against the current policy document. The practical version is simple: your child's own classroom teacher, privately, is not the arrangement to look for.

A final distinction almost no provider volunteers. The MoHRE permit is a UAE work permit, so it applies to a person providing private lessons in the UAE. A tutor teaching a Dubai student from outside the UAE is in a different position. Both can be entirely legitimate. The question that cuts through it is the one in the table: where is this person physically based? A provider that will not answer that plainly is telling you something.

If the budget is fixed, where the dirhams do the most work

  • Technique and convention losses: buy a short block at the higher band
  • Algebra content gaps: buy frequency at a lower band, starting early
  • No work between sessions: buy structure at the cheapest band that provides it
  • In all three cases, the marked mock script is what tells you which one you have

Suppose a Dubai family has decided on a thousand dirhams a month for a Year 11 sitting Extended 0580. At the mid band that is roughly one session a week with a qualified teacher, or two sessions a week at the budget tier, or a block of about six specialist sessions spread over two months. Those are genuinely different purchases, and the right one depends on a single piece of evidence: the marked mock paper.

If the losses on that script are mostly conventions and technique, buy the block at the higher band. Invisible working, premature rounding, bearings measured from the wrong reference, an angle given without a named theorem, frequency plotted instead of frequency density: those cost a grade between them and are fixable in six well-marked sessions. They are also the losses a cheaper hour is least likely to find, because finding them requires reading the script line by line rather than teaching the topic again.

If the losses are a genuine content gap in algebra, buy frequency at a lower band and buy it early. Rearranging with the subject appearing twice, indices, surds, non-linear simultaneous equations: these need repetition over weeks rather than intensity over days, and they pay back across every other topic on the paper because an algebraic step sits at the end of most multi-mark questions. In that situation two cheaper sessions a week beats one dearer one, as long as written work comes back marked.

If the student simply does not work between sessions, neither purchase will help and the money is better spent elsewhere. This is the uncomfortable third diagnosis and it is more common than either of the others. A fixed weekly slot with somebody who will ask what was done since last time has real value as structure rather than teaching, and it should be bought at the cheapest band that delivers it, not the most expensive. A provider who tells you that is worth more than one who sells you a specialist.

08

What a cheap hour contains, and what an expensive one contains

Because the spread in this market is twentyfold, it is worth describing both ends concretely rather than implying that the dear one is simply better. At the bottom, an AED 50 to AED 80 hour in Dubai typically means a capable graduate, often a strong mathematician, working without the specification in front of them. The session is reactive: your child brings homework, the tutor helps with it, the homework gets finished. There is no marking outside the session, no diagnosis of why a question was wrong rather than that it was wrong, and no plan beyond next week. For a student who is simply not doing the work, that hour has genuine value as structure. For a student with a specific gap, it will not find it.

At the top, an AED 500 to AED 650 hour buys seniority: someone with long experience of the examination, often with assessment background, whose judgement about what will and will not appear is better than almost anybody's. That is worth real money on a Diploma exploration or a scarce syllabus. On 0580 it is usually the wrong purchase, because the specification is widely taught and the marks available to a Year 11 sit in algebra and technique rather than in anything exotic. Paying the premium band at this level is buying insurance against a risk that is not present.

The middle, which in Dubai means the AED 150 to AED 300 published range, is where the useful work happens for this qualification. What that band should contain is specific and you should ask for it: a tutor who has taught the specification and the tier, a first session that starts from the marked script rather than a conversation, exam-style work set between sessions and returned annotated, and a plan with the series date on it. If a provider in that band cannot describe those four things, they are charging mid-band for a bottom-band service, which is the commonest overpayment in this market.

One phrase to be sceptical about at every price point. Any provider describing someone as an examiner should be able to say what status is actually evidenced and when, and nobody can offer access to marking, boundaries or unreleased papers on the back of it. Cambridge's syllabuses, past papers and mark schemes are its copyright material: a tutor references and links them and works from what your school has legitimately provided. A provider offering a bundle of papers as a download is advertising a copyright problem rather than a resource.

09

Group classes, packages and the things that look cheaper than they are

  • Group classes: the only format that genuinely halves cost, and the weakest at diagnosis
  • Packages: divide by hours, not sessions, and check the session length first
  • Long plans: a subject examined once at the end rarely needs a two-year commitment
  • Review against the next marked assessment rather than against a renewal date

Three formats in this market advertise a lower number and frequently deliver a higher cost per unit of progress. Worth naming each, because all three are reasonable purchases in the right circumstance and poor ones in the wrong.

Group classes halve or quarter the hourly figure and they are the only lever that genuinely does. In the final term, four Extended candidates working through timed questions with a teacher who marks them is good value. Earlier in the year, or with students at different stages, the group becomes supervision for most of the room. The question to ask is how the group was matched and on what evidence; an answer about year group and school is not an answer about mathematics.

Monthly packages look like a discount and sometimes are. The arithmetic is the whole story: divide by hours rather than by sessions, because a package of eight forty-five-minute sessions is six hours, not eight. In this market an advertised AED 799 monthly online package lands near the lower qualified-teacher band if the sessions are full hours and well above it if they are not, and an advertised AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 in-home monthly package for four two-hour sessions divides out above the online band while also delivering sessions longer than a weeknight can absorb.

Long upfront commitments are the third. A discounted two-year plan for a subject examined once at the end is usually the provider managing their revenue rather than your child's need, and it removes the one piece of leverage you have, which is the ability to stop. If a block is right, take a block with a stated endpoint, ask whether unused sessions expire, and renew deliberately. The pattern that works for most Dubai 0580 families is a defined block after a marked mock, reviewed against the next marked mock, repeated if the evidence says to repeat it.

Where we tutor

Where in Dubai the travel maths changes the price most

The further you live from the dense tutoring supply along the Sheikh Zayed Road corridor, the more a visiting tutor costs and the fewer of them will come. These are the communities where that gap bites hardest and what families there usually do about it.

Town Square and Dubailand

A long drive from almost everywhere, which prices a visiting tutor at the upper end of the in-home band and limits the choice to whoever is willing. Families here usually end up booking either a weekend double session or moving to video, because a weeknight visit rarely survives the term.

International City and Warsan

A price-sensitive cluster with a long commute into the main supply corridor. Group classes are more common here than elsewhere in the emirate, and the honest trade-off is cheaper hours against far weaker diagnosis for an individual student.

Discovery Gardens and The Gardens

Mid-rise apartment living with a reasonable run along the main road, so in-home supply exists but at full band. The bigger practical constraint is a quiet room, which is why a headset and a cleared table change the value of a session more than the rate does.

Al Qusais, Al Nahda and Al Twar

Dense, well connected and close to a large school population, so freelance in-home supply is better here than in the outer communities and rates sit lower in the band. The question worth asking is whether the tutor has taught the specification, because supply at this price point is mixed.

Jumeirah Village Triangle and Al Furjan

Fast-growing, with large Year 11 cohorts nearby and heavy competition for weeknight slots in the spring term. Families who leave booking until February here are frequently choosing from whoever is left rather than from whoever is best.

Mudon, Remraam and Serena

Outer villa communities where a visiting tutor's travel is the dominant cost and a 5pm slot is barely feasible. These are the households where moving to video produces the largest financial difference, often two extra sessions a month for the same spend.

Dubai Sports City and Motor City

Well served and centrally placed, with several schools close by, so in-home rates sit mid-band. Sports commitments are the scheduling constraint rather than traffic, which argues for a fixed weekend slot that survives a fixture list.

Deira, Bur Dubai and Karama

Older, denser districts with the widest range of advertised rates in the emirate, from community-advertised hourly figures well below the agency floor up to full band. The permit question matters most here, because supply is largely informal and nobody is asked.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Jebel Ali, Al Furjan and the Discovery Gardens corridor

A large British-curriculum population spread across a long stretch of road, which makes visiting tutors expensive to schedule and video unusually attractive. Enquiries here cluster in January, straight after the first mock, and the useful first document is the marked script rather than a conversation about confidence.

  • The Winchester School Jebel Ali
  • GEMS Metropole School
  • The Arbor School
  • Nibras International School
  • Greenfield International School

Mirdif, Al Qusais and Al Warqa

Denser, better supplied with freelance tutors and more price-sensitive than the western communities. The advertised range here is the widest in Dubai, which makes the permit question and the has-this-person-taught-the-specification question more important than the rate itself.

  • GEMS Founders School Mirdif
  • Star International School Mirdif
  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • Uptown International School

Schools are named here as context for the Dubai school market only; no affiliation, endorsement or relationship with any school or school group is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the tier and send the marked mock

The enquiry asks for the syllabus code, the tier and your child's most recent marked script. Those three turn a first session into a diagnosis, and the marked script is what determines whether the right purchase is a short block at a higher band or more frequency at a lower one.

  2. 02

A free trial lesson, with no card taken

One free session per family, with no card details required to book it. It is used on the marked script, sorting lost marks into causes: not known, known but misapplied, arithmetic, rounding, misread command word, out of time. You get the counts rather than an impression.

  3. 03

A written diagnosis and a number of sessions

After the trial you receive the loss breakdown, the two topic areas carrying the most marks, and an estimate of how many sessions the work needs. If the honest answer is fewer sessions than you expected, or that the problem is work habits rather than mathematics, the note says that.

  4. 04

You are quoted once, against that plan

We quote after the trial rather than publishing a list, and the quote is against a stated number of sessions with an endpoint. You will be told the session length, what comes back marked and what happens to a session cancelled at short notice, before anything is paid.

  5. 05

    Marked work between every session

Exam-style work is set between sessions and comes back annotated in your child's own hand: where a method mark was available, where an accuracy mark went, what the command word asked for. The marking is the part you can check, which is why it is inside the rate rather than an extra.

  6. 06

Review against the next school assessment

The plan is reviewed when the next mock or class assessment is marked, by comparing the new loss breakdown with the old one. That document is produced by the school rather than by us, which makes it the only honest measure of whether the money is working.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Every figure is attributed and dated

The AED rates on this page belong to the providers named beside them, read in October 2026. We publish no invented price list for 0580 and we quote only after a trial lesson has established what the work actually is. A page that shows its sources can be checked, and one that does not cannot.

The permit position is stated, including the awkward part

The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free of charge for two years, so no rate can be justified by permit costs. We also state plainly that the permit is a UAE work permit and does not apply to a tutor teaching from outside the UAE, and we tell you to ask where your tutor is based.

No fine amounts, because none are published

Tutoring without a permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no schedule of amounts has been published. A widely circulated figure could not be verified against an official source, so it does not appear here. Scare numbers are not information.

Marking is inside the rate, not an upsell

Written work comes back annotated in your child's own hand showing where method and accuracy marks went. That takes unpaid time outside the session, which is precisely why it is the first thing a cheaper hour quietly drops. You can ask to see an example before you book.

We will tell you to buy less

A subject examined once at the end rarely needs a two-year weekly commitment, and most 0580 problems are a defined block after a marked mock. Where the honest answer is fewer sessions, a cheaper band, or structure rather than teaching, that is what the written diagnosis says.

Delivery is stated before you enquire, not after

Lessons for UAE families are one-to-one on live video in Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Nothing on this page implies a tutor will arrive at a Dubai address, because none will.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What does an hour of Cambridge 0580 maths support actually cost in Dubai?+

Published rates in October 2026 span a wide range. Budget online platforms advertise from AED 33 to AED 65. Specialist agencies list IGCSE from about AED 150, running to AED 300. In-home services in Dubai sit at AED 180 to AED 500 with travel inside the figure. International marketplaces quote from around AED 270, often in another currency first. Premium named tutors publish up to AED 650. Those are other providers' figures, attributed in the rate table on this page. IB Gram quotes after a free trial lesson rather than publishing a list, because the honest number depends on the tier and the number of weeks.

Why is the in-home band higher than the online band for what might be the same teacher?+

Because somebody is paying for a car. A tutor driving across Dubai for a one-hour lesson commits about ninety minutes of their day to earn sixty minutes of fee, and that ratio sits inside the published AED 180 to AED 500 band whether or not anybody itemises it. The same economics also pushes in-home providers to set a ninety- or one-hundred-and-twenty-minute minimum session, so the monthly commitment rises too. Remove the travel and the same qualified teacher is available in a band that starts at AED 150, which is most of the financial argument for video.

Is a monthly package better value than paying by the hour for Year 11 maths?+

Only after you do the arithmetic, and the arithmetic is the whole story. Divide by hours rather than by sessions: a package of eight forty-five-minute sessions is six hours, not eight. An advertised AED 799 monthly online package in this market lands near the lower qualified-teacher band if the sessions are full hours and well above it if they are not. An advertised AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 in-home monthly package for four two-hour sessions divides out above the online band, and two hours on a weeknight is longer than a fifteen-year-old can usefully absorb.

We have fixed AED 1,000 a month for maths. What should we buy with it?+

It depends entirely on one document: the marked mock script. If the losses are conventions and technique, which means invisible working, premature rounding, bearings from the wrong reference, angles without a named theorem, buy a short block at the higher band, because finding those needs line-by-line reading rather than reteaching. If the losses are genuine algebra gaps, buy frequency at a lower band and start early, because rearranging and indices need repetition over weeks. If the student is not working between sessions, buy structure at the cheapest band that provides it.

Does the hourly rate change between Core and Extended entries?+

Modestly, usually AED 20 to AED 50 in this market. The extended tier covers additional content rather than the same content made harder, mostly in algebra, functions and trigonometry, so the preparation is wider and the pool of tutors comfortable across all of it is slightly smaller. The rate difference is not the important part of the tier question though. A Core entry caps the grade at C, which closes most sixth-form mathematics routes in Dubai, so that conversation with the department matters far more than the hourly figure attached to it.

How many sessions does a Year 11 on Extended usually need before the June series?+

Fewer than most families buy and more concentrated. The pattern that works is a defined block of six to ten sessions after a marked mock, addressing the two causes carrying the most lost marks, then a review against the next mock and a decision to repeat or stop. In the final six weeks the useful work narrows to converting partial knowledge into whole marks, so nothing new should be starting then. A two-year weekly commitment for a subject examined once at the end is usually the provider's revenue plan rather than your child's need.

Is a group of four cheaper than one-to-one for 0580 revision?+

Considerably, and it is the only lever that genuinely halves the figure. In the final term, four Extended candidates working through timed questions with a teacher who marks them is good value per head. Earlier in the year, or with students at different stages, the group becomes supervision for most of the room, because the whole value of a session is one student's specific errors being found. Ask how the group was matched and on what evidence. An answer about year group and school is not an answer about mathematics.

What does the UAE tutor permit cost, and can we ask to see our tutor's?+

Nothing. The MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. So no rate can be defended on permit costs. You can and should ask a UAE-based tutor to confirm their permit. There is one further question almost nobody asks: the permit is a UAE work permit, so a tutor teaching your child from outside the UAE is in a different position entirely. Ask where the person is physically based.

Are examination entry fees included in anything a tutor charges?+

No, and they should not be. Entries are made by your child's school through its exams officer, within the board's published deadline, and the cost sits inside the school's fee arrangements rather than a tutoring invoice. Entry fees only become a separate household line if a student sits as a private candidate rather than through their school, in which case the examination centre sets both the fee and the deadline. That is a conversation with a centre, well before the entry date, and no tutoring provider arranges it on your behalf.

Does the Dubai fee freeze for 2026-27 actually free up money for tutoring?+

For some households, yes, and it is worth being deliberate about it. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. A family that had budgeted for a rise now has unallocated money. The sensible use of it for a 0580 candidate is a defined diagnostic block after the next marked mock rather than an open-ended weekly booking, because the spend that moves marks in this subject is concentrated rather than continuous.

What does an AED 60 hour actually contain in Dubai?+

Usually a capable graduate, often a genuinely strong mathematician, working without the specification in front of them. The session is reactive: your child brings homework, it gets finished, nothing is marked outside the session, and there is no diagnosis of why a question was wrong rather than that it was. For a student who simply is not working between lessons, that structure has real value and is correctly priced. For a student with a specific algebraic gap or a technique problem, it will not find it, and six months of it is more expensive than six well-marked sessions.

Do we pay more for a tutor who marks past-paper work properly?+

Usually AED 20 to AED 60 an hour more, and it is the single item most worth paying for at this level. There is a real difference between an hour of conversation about mathematics and an hour that produces annotated written work in your child's own hand showing where a method mark was available and where an accuracy mark went. Marking is unpaid time outside the session, so it is either inside the rate or it is not happening. Ask directly what comes back after each session, and ask to see an example before you commit.

Should we pay for sessions through the long summer break, or stop?+

It depends which summer. Between Year 10 and Year 11, a short block on algebra is among the best-value spending available, because rearranging, indices and surds pay back across every topic in the examination year and nothing is urgent yet, so rates and availability are both better. Between Year 11 and sixth form, the same logic applies even more strongly, since A Level and Diploma mathematics assume Extended fluency and teach very little of it. Paying for full weekly sessions through ten weeks with no target is the version that wastes money.

If we stop after two sessions, what happens to the money?+

That depends on how you bought, which is why the buying model matters as much as the rate. Pay-as-you-go carries the highest hourly figure precisely because the provider carries the risk of you leaving, and nothing is owed beyond the session taken. A block is discounted because you carried that risk instead, so ask before paying whether unused sessions expire, whether they can roll into the next term and what notice a cancellation needs. A provider who cannot answer those three questions clearly before payment is not a provider to pay in advance.

Is it cheaper to put two siblings into the same 0580 session?+

Only if they are genuinely at the same point, which siblings in different year groups never are. Where two students are both on Extended and both losing marks in the same place, a shared session is reasonable value and roughly halves the per-child figure. Where they are not, you are buying one child teaching and one child supervision at a discount, which is more expensive than it looks. Many providers offer a modest household rate instead, usually ten to twenty per cent, which reflects shared booking administration rather than shared teaching.

The money question behind this search has an answer, and most of it is on this page: the published Dubai bands with their sources, the costs a home visit carries outside the invoice, the eight things that move a quote, and the permit position, which costs nothing. What the page cannot tell you is which purchase your own child needs, because that is written on their last marked mock. Send it with the enquiry, take the free trial lesson, and you will get the loss breakdown and a session count in writing. Lessons run one-to-one on live video in Gulf Standard Time, and work comes back marked in your child's own hand.
