Cambridge IGCSE Home Tutor in Dubai

Parents pricing a Cambridge IGCSE home tutor in Dubai get wildly different numbers from each provider they ask, usually because nobody says what is inside the hour. This page publishes the AED market bands by level and format, names the seven things that move a quote up or down in this emirate, and puts tutoring beside school fees and exam entry so the figure has context. Teaching is delivered one to one over live video, and the first thirty minutes are free.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Why two quotes for the same subject differ by AED 300

A family in Dubai ringing round for a Cambridge IGCSE home tutor will be quoted somewhere between AED 45 and AED 650 an hour, and every quote will sound reasonable to the person giving it. The spread is not mostly about quality. It is about what the hour contains, who is paying for travel, how scarce the subject specialism is, and whether anybody is marking the student's work against the published mark scheme, which takes a tutor roughly forty minutes per paper and cannot be done inside a sub-hundred-dirham hour.

This page therefore prices the components rather than publishing a single number. Market bands come from published 2026 Dubai rate guides and from providers' own public pricing pages, and they are presented as market rates rather than ours. What IB Gram charges depends on the subject, the level and the number of sessions, and we quote after a conversation in which those are actually known, which is why no single figure appears on this page as our price.

Three structural facts sit behind every number below. Travel is paid for by somebody, so an in-home hour has to recover two journeys. Marking is the most valuable thing a tutor produces and the inclusion most often left out of a quote. And scarcity, not difficulty, sets the top of the range.

Context helps more than families expect. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for Dubai private schools in the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For most Dubai families, tuition fees are the dominant education cost and they have just been held flat, which makes a tutoring decision easier to size: it is an increment on a known number rather than an unknown added to a rising one.

The second piece of context is supply. Dubai's private education sector is growing quickly, with seven new private schools opening for 2026-27, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places after six openings in 2025-26 and a 6 per cent rise in enrolment. More schools means more Cambridge cohorts and more demand for subject specialists, and the scarce specialisms are where rates move fastest. Additional Mathematics 0606 and Arabic as a First Language 0508 are not expensive because they are hard; they are expensive because few people teach them well.

One structural point about delivery, because it changes the arithmetic on this page. IB Gram teaches Dubai families one to one over live video. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai, since sending a tutor to an address is a service we run only in India. In-home figures are quoted below as market information, because a family asking what a home tutor costs deserves the real answer, and because the gap between those columns is largely the price of an evening drive across this city.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost behaves differently at each Cambridge stage, because the number of sessions a brief needs varies more than the hourly rate does. These are the four stages Dubai families budget for, with what drives the total at each.

COREAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Core tier

Core briefs are usually shorter and cheaper in total, because the content is a defined subset and the papers are more structured. Cambridge builds the tier to award grades C to G. Where a family is paying for Core support to lift a student towards the top of that range, the honest budget is eight to twelve sessions rather than an open-ended weekly arrangement.

The decision worth spending money on at Core is the tier itself. Two marked papers, one from each tier, cost two sessions and can change the ceiling on the final grade. Dubai schools set tiers from cohort data, so a family bringing marked evidence to the conversation is spending a small amount to influence a large outcome.

EXTAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Extended tier

Extended is where most Dubai spending happens and where the per-subject totals run highest, because the papers carry multi-step problems and extended response. A typical brief is one session a week across a term, rising to two in the final months, which is twenty to thirty sessions across Years 10 and 11 for a single subject.

The cost-control lever at Extended is subject count rather than hourly rate. Two subjects supported properly produce movement; four supported thinly produce a larger bill and a student slightly better at everything. Families who cap it at two and extend the duration spend less in total and see more.

0606Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Additional Mathematics and scarce-specialism subjects

Additional Mathematics 0606, Arabic as a First Language 0508 and the less common languages sit at the top of the rate range for a straightforward reason: few tutors teach them to examination standard. Quotes here are typically a third higher than for mainstream mathematics, and availability rather than price is often the binding constraint.

For these subjects we give a realistic matching date rather than a fast yes, because putting a generalist into a scarce-specialism slot wastes a family's money more efficiently than anything else in this market. If no specialist is free at the hour you need, that is what we will say.

PRIVATEAges 15-19

Retakes and private candidate entries

A retake budget has two halves: teaching and entry. Teaching for a single subject retake is usually eight to fifteen sessions focused on the components that failed rather than the whole syllabus. Entry is a separate cost paid to an examination centre that accepts external candidates, and it varies by centre and by how late the entry is made.

Dubai centres set their own closing dates ahead of Cambridge's final entry deadline, and late entry fees are a real and avoidable cost. UAE candidates sit the June and November series, and entries for a June sitting close in the spring, months before the first paper, with the centre's internal cut-off earlier still. A subject or tier decision raised after that cut-off is therefore no longer a decision about June at all; it is a decision about the November series, and the centre's statement of entry is the only place the exact date for your son or daughter appears.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below is each popular Cambridge IGCSE subject with the thing that drives its cost: how many sessions a typical brief takes, and why. The hourly rate is the smaller half of the equation for most families.

Mathematics 0580

Core and Extended

The most competitively supplied subject in Dubai, so rates sit mid-band. Briefs are long rather than expensive: twenty to thirty sessions across two years is common, because fluency accumulates. A short brief works only where the problem is unshown method rather than number work.

International Mathematics 0607

Core and Extended

Fewer tutors teach the graphic-display-calculator route and the investigation paper, which lifts the rate above 0580. A family switching schools mid-IGCSE between 0580 and 0607 should budget four to six sessions purely for the calculator and investigation technique.

Additional Mathematics 0606

Post-0580 Extended

Top of the rate range on scarcity. Briefs are usually short and intense, eight to twelve sessions in Year 11, focused on calculus applications and trigonometric identities rather than on the whole syllabus. Availability is the real constraint, not price.

Chemistry 0620

Core and Extended

Mid to upper band, with the practical-skills component the part families forget to budget for. A brief that covers the written papers and ignores the alternative-to-practical paper leaves a predictable chunk of marks untouched, and adding it costs three or four sessions.

Physics 0625

Core and Extended

Comparable to chemistry in rate. Cost is driven by how much of electricity and waves needs rebuilding, which a marked paper reveals in twenty minutes. Where those two topics are sound, the brief is short; where they are not, budget a session per topic plus practice.

Biology 0610

Core and Extended

Often the cheapest of the three sciences to support, because the content is learnable and the marks are lost on precision and command words. Eight to ten sessions of marked short-answer practice is a common and effective brief.

Coordinated Sciences 0654

Double award

Three disciplines in one award, so a single tutor rarely covers all of it to the same standard. The honest budget is one tutor for the two sciences they are strongest in, and either a second tutor or classroom reliance for the third.

English as a First Language 0500

IGCSE

Mid-band rate, and the subject where total cost is most sensitive to how much writing the student will actually produce between sessions. A student who writes weekly needs ten sessions; one who does not will need thirty and still plateau.

Economics 0455

IGCSE

Short briefs work well here. Diagram accuracy and command words account for most lost marks, and six to eight sessions of marked practice moves a grade more reliably than a term of content teaching.

Business Studies 0450

IGCSE

Similar economics of supply and similar brief length. The cost driver is whether the student is applying case-study data or writing generic theory, which is a habit and therefore fast to change once marked work exposes it.

Arabic as a First Language 0508

IGCSE

Scarce specialism, so rates sit high and matching takes longer. Briefs concentrate on formal register and extended written argument in Standard Arabic rather than on language acquisition, which keeps the session count lower than families expect.

Computer Science 0478

IGCSE

Mid-band, with cost driven by whether the student needs pseudocode conventions and trace tables drilled. Both are habits, so briefs are short: five or six sessions typically covers the gap between writing working code and scoring marks.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, with genuinely different costs per student. All are delivered over live video, which is what removes travel from the price.

One-to-one weekly

The standard arrangement and the one that produces marked work every fortnight. Highest cost per hour and lowest cost per mark moved, because the whole session is aimed at one student's specific losses. Most families book one subject at a time and add a second only if the first is working.

  • Sixty minutes, one subject, one student
  • A marked script every second week
  • Pace set by the student's own paper losses
  • Cancel or move a session without a travel penalty

Pair or small group of two to four

Lower cost per student and a sensible option where two children are at genuinely the same point in the same syllabus. It works for content teaching and poorly for marked diagnosis, because four students lose marks in four different places and a shared hour cannot chase all of them.

  • Cost per student falls with group size
  • Works for content coverage, not for diagnosis
  • Needs the same syllabus code and tier
  • Ask whether individual scripts are still marked

Fixed exam-term block

A counted block of sessions bought against a Cambridge series, usually eight or twelve, built around whole timed papers rather than topics. Families prefer this format because the cost is known in advance and the end date is set by the exam rather than by a renewal decision.

  • A fixed number of sessions, priced up front
  • Whole papers sat, then marked live
  • Ends at the exam, not at a cancellation
  • Unused sessions and rollover agreed in writing

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What a Cambridge IGCSE home tutor costs in Dubai, by level and format

The table below is the thing almost nobody in this market publishes: AED rates split by level, by format and by session count. The figures are market rates drawn from published 2026 Dubai rate guides and from tutoring providers' own public pricing pages, reviewed in October 2026. They are not a price list for IB Gram, and the in-home column is included because a family asking about a home tutor is entitled to the real number rather than a redirection.

Read the monthly column rather than the hourly one if you are budgeting. An hourly rate is a unit price and families do not buy units; they buy a term. A specialist at AED 300 an hour taught weekly is roughly AED 1,200 a month, and a budget tutor at AED 100 taught twice weekly is roughly AED 800, which is a far narrower gap than the headline rates suggest, and the specialist is marking the work.

Two of the rows are deliberately unglamorous. Tier-decision support is two sessions, not a term, and it is probably the highest-return spend available to a Year 10 family because it affects the grade ceiling. Retake and private-candidate briefs are short and focused on the components that failed, which is why a retake can cost considerably less than a family fears, with the entry fee a separate matter paid to a centre.

The group column needs a caveat. Cost per student falls with group size and so does diagnostic value. Four students in a shared hour lose marks in four different places, and no tutor can chase all four. Group teaching works well for covering content and poorly for the marked, individual work that actually moves a grade, so treat it as a different product rather than a discount on the same one.

The seven things that move a Dubai quote

Families comparing quotes usually assume the variation is about tutor quality. Some of it is. Most of it is one of seven identifiable factors, and knowing which one is in play turns a confusing spread of numbers into a comparison you can actually make.

Scarcity is the biggest. Mathematics 0580 is supplied by hundreds of competent tutors in this city and prices accordingly. Additional Mathematics 0606, Arabic as a First Language 0508 and the smaller languages are supplied by a few dozen, and the rate reflects that rather than the difficulty of the content. Proximity to a series is the second: the same tutor is scarcer in March than in September, and families booking late in an exam year pay for the timing.

Then come the inclusions, which is where most of the apparent disagreement between quotes actually lives. Marking a paper against the published mark scheme costs a tutor around forty minutes; written parent feedback costs another ten; planning against a school's scheme of work costs more. A quote that includes all three is not expensive relative to one that includes none, it is a different thing being bought, and the only way to compare them is to ask.

The table lists all seven with the direction and rough magnitude of the effect. One of them, travel, disappears entirely under online delivery, which is the single clearest reason the two columns in the previous table differ. Two of them, group size and session frequency, are levers a family controls directly, and the remaining four are market conditions to plan around rather than negotiate.

03

Travel priced as the line item it is

In-home tutoring in Dubai costs more than online tutoring by roughly the value of a tutor's evening drive, and the published bands bear that out: approximately AED 180 to 500 an hour in-home against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online. The gap is not a premium for presence. It is two unpaid journeys that have to be recovered somewhere.

The consequences for a family are practical rather than financial. A tutor who spends ninety minutes travelling for a sixty-minute lesson can teach two or three students an evening, which is why in-home slots are few, fixed and hard to move. A school fixture, a mock exam or a late bus does not shift an in-home session; it cancels it, because a round trip cannot be refitted at short notice.

There is also the quiet cost of arriving late. Dubai's arterial roads between four and seven do not reward optimistic planning, and a tutor who arrives at 17:15 for a 17:00 session will usually still leave at 18:00 because the next family is waiting. A family paying for sixty minutes can receive forty-five several times a term without anyone raising it, which is a larger effective price increase than any of the factors in the previous table.

None of which makes in-home tutoring a bad choice for every family. A younger child who needs an adult physically present, or a household without a quiet room, may genuinely be better served that way. The point is that the decision should price the drive explicitly, because the provider already has.

Provider models compared, without the straw man

Most tutoring pages compare themselves favourably with an unnamed alternative. A more useful comparison is between models, because the model determines what a family can expect on price, replacement, verification and marking regardless of which brand sits inside it.

The six models in the table are the ones genuinely available to a Dubai family. An independent freelance tutor found through a community group is usually the cheapest and carries the most variance, because there is no replacement if the match is wrong and no verification beyond what the tutor says. A tuition centre with premises offers structure and group economics, and operates under a different regulatory regime: a centre with premises and staff requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, which is a specific permit with initial approval, a six-month completion window and an annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry.

An international marketplace offers the largest pool and the least curation, with the recurring problem that prices are quoted in dollars or pounds that a UAE family does not transact in. A specialist agency curates and charges for it. A platform model such as ours sits between the two, with matching and replacement handled centrally and the teaching delivered by the named tutor.

The permit column is the one worth dwelling on. Private tutoring in the UAE requires a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and it is granted free of charge for two years. Because it costs the tutor nothing, there is no reasonable excuse for not holding one, and asking is a fair question with a verifiable answer whichever model a family chooses.

Tutoring cost in context: fees, entry and the alternatives

A tutoring figure means little in isolation. Set beside the other education costs a Dubai family already carries, it becomes a decision about proportion rather than an unknown expense, and that is usually the conversation parents are actually trying to have.

The anchor is school fees, which KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 would not rise for Dubai private schools in 2026-27, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a family whose largest education line is flat this year, an incremental tutoring decision is easier to size. The sector itself is expanding: seven new private schools open for 2026-27, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, adding 16,846 places.

Exam entry is the cost families most often forget, and it only applies to private candidates; students entered through their own school have entry handled within the school's fees. A private candidate pays the examination centre, the amount varies by centre and by subject, and late entry costs more. Because entries for the June series close in the spring and the centre's own cut-off sits weeks ahead of that, the window in which a normal fee is payable opens and shuts long before revision feels urgent, so the saving from deciding early is real money rather than tidiness.

The table puts the items side by side. The intention is not to argue that tutoring is cheap; it is to make the trade-off visible. A family can see at a glance that one weekly specialist session for an academic year is a different order of commitment from two sessions a week across two subjects, and can choose accordingly rather than discovering the total in April.

Four ways Dubai families waste tutoring money

  • Four subjects thinly instead of two properly
  • A weekly slot with no stated stopping condition
  • Starting in February for a May or June series
  • Paying for contact time that produces no marked work

These are the spending patterns we see most often, and each one is expensive without being obviously wasteful at the time. Naming them is more useful than another argument about hourly rates, because the total a family spends is driven far more by these choices than by the unit price.

The first is breadth. Four subjects at one session a week each, in Year 11, produces a bill of several thousand dirhams a month and a student marginally better at everything. The marks move when two subjects get the full attention, because that is enough time to find the recurring losses and attack them. Families who cut from four subjects to two and extend the arrangement by a term almost always spend less and see more.

The second is the open-ended subscription. A weekly session that has run for eighteen months without a stated stopping condition has stopped being a plan. If there is no marked evidence every fortnight, there is nothing to review, and the default becomes continuation. The third is late starting: the same tutor costs more and is harder to book in March, and a Year 11 family starting in February is buying the most expensive version of the least effective plan.

The fourth is paying for contact time without marking. This is the most consequential because it is invisible. An hour of pleasant, well-explained teaching feels identical to an hour that produced an annotated script, and only one of them leaves evidence. Ask what arrives after each session before agreeing a rate, and the question itself will usually shift the conversation onto better ground.

07

VAT, payment and the questions to ask before you pay

  • Confirm the quoted number is the invoiced number
  • Pay per session for the first month, then review
  • Ask whether unused block sessions expire
  • Ask what happens if the tutor becomes unavailable

Families reasonably ask whether a quoted rate includes VAT. The accurate answer from any provider is about their own prices rather than about the tax treatment of education generally, which is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority and not something a tutoring page should assert. The right question to a provider is simply whether the number quoted is what will be charged, and whether anything is added at invoice. Ours is quoted inclusive of anything we charge, with no booking or administration fee.

Payment structure matters more than most families realise. Paying per session keeps the arrangement reviewable and keeps the provider accountable for each one. Paying for a term up front usually attracts a discount and transfers risk to the family, which is fine where the tutor is already known and poor where they are not. The sensible compromise is to pay per session for the first month, then consider a block once the evidence from the marked work supports it.

Four questions are worth asking of any provider before money changes hands. What happens to a session cancelled with a day's notice. Whether unused sessions in a block expire. Who marks the work, since on some platforms the teacher and the feedback writer are different people. And what happens if the tutor becomes unavailable mid-term, because an answer involving a replacement with your consent is very different from one involving a credit note.

We do not offer any outcome-linked refund and would be wary of anyone who does, because honouring it requires grading the examiner's decision against a marketing promise. What we do offer is a free thirty-minute trial lesson, one per family, with no card details taken, which is the cheapest possible way for a family to test everything on this page before committing anything at all.

08

Is the tutor you are paying legally permitted to teach?

This question costs nothing to ask and is skipped by almost every family. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students.

MoHRE's own service page for the permit lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time, with applications made through its smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No schedule of fine amounts is published, so treat any page quoting a figure with scepticism; the ministry has not specified them.

There is a separate point about school teachers, and it affects the common idea of hiring your child's own teacher privately. Abu Dhabi's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff have been reported as prohibiting teachers from providing paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct is reported to bar serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Verify the current wording with the relevant authority, and in the meantime treat such an offer as a question rather than an opportunity.

An operation with premises and staff is a different legal animal from an individual tutor. A training institute in Dubai requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram does not hold that permit and does not operate premises in the UAE, which is a fact rather than a selling point, and it is why our teaching is delivered online.

Budgeting Years 10 and 11 against the Cambridge calendar

The cheapest version of a two-year plan is the one that spends early. Work done in Year 10 costs the same per hour as work done in Year 11 and does considerably more, because the tier decision is still open, there is time for habits to change, and the tutor you want is not yet booked out by other families' exam panic.

The shape of the Cambridge calendar makes the spending plan obvious. UAE candidates sit a June series and a November series; entries close in the spring for June, roughly four months before the first component, forecast grades follow a few weeks later, and results reach centres on Cambridge Direct in August with certificates some months after that. The exact days move by series and by centre, so the statement of entry and the live timetable on cambridgeinternational.org are the only versions worth planning against. Cambridge also allocates each centre to one of six administrative zones and states that the correct zone timetable must be used, because it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam otherwise. The Pearson side of the same calendar is firmer in print: International GCSE November 2026 ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and the November 2025 results landed with students on 22 January 2026.

Read backwards from a June series and the budget allocates itself. Tier-decision support belongs a full term before entries close, which means the autumn of Year 11 rather than the spring, because once the entry is lodged the tier is the tier. Content repair belongs in the long middle stretch from October to February, where rates are lowest and the specialists still have evenings free. Whole-paper practice belongs in the final ten weeks running into June, and that is the only period where two sessions a week is usually worth paying for. If a paper is going to be retaken, the November series is the route, and that decision is cheaper to make in July with real results than in September under pressure.

The summer between Years 10 and 11 is the underpriced window. Nothing competes for the evening, specialists have availability, and four or five sessions in August addressing the gaps found in July's marked papers is worth more than ten sessions in May. Families who use it typically spend less across the two years than those who do not, which is the only kind of saving in this market that does not cost something else.

Where we tutor

What the drive costs across Dubai, community by community

These notes exist because travel is the largest single difference between an in-home quote and an online one. Each entry gives the practical evening reality for that community, which is also the reason in-home slots are few and inflexible there.

Dubai Marina and JBR

Dense apartment living with constrained parking and a long approach at peak hour. Tutors quoting in-home rates here price the access as well as the drive, and a 17:00 arrival usually means leaving at 16:00 from anywhere inland.

Jumeirah, Al Manara and Umm Al Sheif

Villa communities with reasonable access but on the wrong side of the evening flow from most of the city. In-home quotes here tend to sit mid to upper range, and the available slots are early evening or weekend.

Al Barsha and Al Khail

Central and relatively well connected, which is why in-home rates quoted into Al Barsha are often the lowest in the city. The flip side is that tutors living here are in demand for exactly that reason.

Mirdif and Al Rashidiya

A long run from the western communities at peak hour. Families here most often report that in-home sessions started late and finished on time, which is the hidden cost: paying for sixty minutes and receiving forty-five.

Arabian Ranches, Mudon and Damac Hills

Inland villa communities where the return journey is the problem rather than the outward one. In-home quotes include that, and a tutor can realistically do two sessions here in an evening rather than three.

Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City

Close to the universities, so the supply of student tutors is unusually good and budget-band in-home quotes are more available here than elsewhere. Subject specialism at examination standard is the trade-off to check.

Dubai Hills Estate and Nad Al Sheba

Newer villa communities with internal school runs and good access from Al Khail Road. Quotes here cluster in the specialist band, and families more often ask about fixed monthly arrangements than hourly rates.

Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

Short commutes but difficult building access and limited visitor parking, both of which add minutes that someone pays for. Online slots are taken up here more readily than in villa communities, usually for exactly that reason.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Al Safa, Al Wasl and Jumeirah 3

Long-established schools with large Cambridge entries and high Extended-tier participation. Families here ask most often about Mathematics 0580 and English First Language 0500, usually with a specific grade threshold for a sixth-form place in mind.

  • The English College Dubai
  • Jumeirah Primary School
  • Emirates International School Jumeirah
  • Dubai Modern High School
  • Jumeirah Baccalaureate School

Oud Metha, Rashidiya and Nad Al Sheba

A mix of long-standing and premium schools with compressed internal assessment calendars. Requests from this cluster skew towards the separate sciences and Additional Mathematics 0606, often from Year 11 families with an A Level route planned.

  • Dubai Gem Private School
  • Rashid School for Boys
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Ambassador School Dubai

Al Barsha, Al Khail and Tecom

Very large year groups across several all-through schools, which means big teaching sets and limited individual diagnosis. Chemistry 0620 and Coordinated Sciences 0654 come up frequently, usually starting from a marked mock paper.

  • GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail
  • American School of Dubai
  • Al Mawakeb School Al Barsha
  • GEMS World Academy Dubai

Schools are named to describe the Dubai Cambridge IGCSE landscape the students we support come from. No affiliation, endorsement or commercial relationship with any school or school group is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subject, the tier and the term you are budgeting

Cambridge 0620 Extended, Year 10, one session a week until the summer is a brief we can price honestly. A request for your cheapest rate cannot be answered usefully, because the total depends on how many sessions the brief needs, and that depends on what a marked paper shows.

  2. 02

Get the diagnostic done before you commit money

We set a full past paper, mark it against the published scheme and sort the losses into habit, misconception and gap. That determines the session count, which is the larger half of your total cost. It also occasionally shows that a short block will do where a family had budgeted a year.

  3. 03

Settle the tier question if it is still open

Two sessions, one marked paper from each tier, and a written comparison for the school conversation. It is the highest-return spend available to a Year 10 family because the tier caps the grade, and it has to happen before the board's final entry deadline closes the question.

  4. 04

Use the free trial, then pay per session for a month

Thirty minutes with the proposed tutor, no card details taken, one trial per family. After that, pay session by session until the marked work gives you a reason to commit to a block. Paying a term up front before you know the tutor transfers all the risk to you.

  5. 05

Review at six weeks against two comparable marks

A baseline paper and a same-style paper six weeks later, both marked, is a measurement rather than an impression. At that point continue with a new target, switch subject, or stop. Reviewing on a schedule is what prevents an arrangement running for eighteen months by default.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Rates published and attributed

Every AED figure on this page comes from published 2026 Dubai rate guides or providers' own public pricing, is labelled as market rather than ours, and carries the month it was reviewed. Three of the six competitor pages researched for this market publish no price at all, and two quote in currencies UAE families do not transact in.

No travel in the price

Because lessons are delivered over live video, nobody is paying for an evening drive across Dubai. That accounts for most of the difference between the in-home and online columns in the rate table, and it also means a session can move when a mock week lands rather than being cancelled.

Session count quoted, not just an hourly rate

We tell a family roughly how many sessions a brief needs before they commit, because that number drives the total far more than the unit price. A short expensive brief frequently costs less than a long cheap one, and families cannot see that from an hourly figure.

Marking included and stated

Marking a paper against the published mark scheme takes about forty minutes and is the single most valuable thing a tutor produces. It is inside what we quote, and we say so, because the commonest reason two quotes look different is that one of them excludes it silently.

Permit questions answered, not dodged

The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years, so there is no reason for a tutor not to hold one. We treat the question as routine, and we are equally clear that IB Gram holds no KHDA institute permit and operates no UAE premises, because claiming otherwise would be a serious misstatement.

No outcome-linked refunds, and no grade promises

We do not sell a money-back arrangement tied to a result, because honouring one would mean arguing with an examiner's decision. What is offered instead is a free thirty-minute trial lesson and payment per session for the first month, which puts the risk in the right place while the evidence accumulates.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How much does a Cambridge IGCSE home tutor cost in Dubai?+

Published 2026 market rates put in-home one-to-one tuition at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, with the upper part of that range covering specialist subjects and exam-year briefs. Online one-to-one with a qualified subject tutor runs about AED 150 to 300, and the gap between the two is largely the tutor's evening drive. Monthly in-home packages around AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour sessions appear in the market. These are market figures, not IB Gram's price list, and the decisive question for any of them is whether marked written feedback on your child's own work is included.

What makes one Cambridge IGCSE tutor cost double another?+

Usually one of three things rather than raw quality. Scarcity: Additional Mathematics 0606 and Arabic as a First Language 0508 are taught to examination standard by a few dozen people in this city, and Mathematics 0580 by hundreds. Inclusions: marking a paper against the published scheme costs a tutor about forty minutes, and a rate that excludes it is a different product. Career stage: a university student and a career teacher are genuinely different purchases. Proximity to a series adds another ten to twenty-five per cent from March onwards, because specialist diaries fill before the June and November sittings.

How much does a tutor's drive across Dubai add to the hourly rate?+

Somewhere between AED 30 and 150 of an in-home hour, judging by the gap between published in-home and online bands. The more significant cost is not financial. A tutor spending eighty minutes travelling for a sixty-minute lesson can teach two students an evening instead of four, which is why in-home slots are scarce and fixed. A session cannot be moved when a school fixture lands, because a round trip cannot be refitted at a day's notice, and a tutor arriving late will still leave on time because the next family is waiting.

Are monthly tutoring packages better value than paying per lesson?+

They are usually cheaper per hour and they transfer risk from the provider to you. That trade is sensible once you know the tutor and the marked work shows the sessions are working. It is a poor trade in month one, when the match is unproven. Our suggestion is to pay per session for the first four weeks, then consider a block. Before agreeing to any package, ask two questions: do unused sessions expire, and what happens if the tutor becomes unavailable mid-term. A credit note is a very different answer from a replacement tutor with your consent.

Do tutoring fees in Dubai include VAT?+

Ask each provider specifically about their own prices, and treat any page that states the general tax treatment of education as fact with caution, because that is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority rather than for a tutoring website. The useful question is narrow: is the number quoted the number that will be invoiced, and is anything added afterwards. Our quoted figure is what we charge, with no booking or administration fee on top. If a provider cannot answer that question in one sentence, it is worth asking what else is unclear in the quote.

What does it cost to enter Cambridge IGCSE exams as a private candidate?+

The fee is set by the examination centre rather than by us or by Cambridge directly, and it varies by centre, by subject and by how late the entry is made. Students entered through their own school pay nothing separately, as entry sits inside school fees. For private candidates the practical cost control is timing: centres set internal closing dates ahead of the board's final entry deadline, and for a June sitting both fall in the spring, with the centre's cut-off the earlier of the two and the only one that actually binds you. Also check that the centre offers any coursework or practical component your subject requires before committing to the subject.

Did Dubai school fees change for the 2026-27 academic year?+

KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. This matters for tutoring decisions because the largest line in most families' education budget is flat this year, which makes an incremental decision easier to size. The sector is also expanding, with seven new private schools opening for 2026-27 and 16,846 new places created.

How far ahead of the papers does a Cambridge entry have to be paid for?+

Months before the exams, which is what catches families out. UAE candidates sit the June and November Cambridge series, and entries for June close in the spring, roughly four months ahead of the first paper, with your centre's internal deadline earlier again; the exact dates are on the statement of entry and the live timetable rather than fixed year to year. Pearson's side of the calendar shows the same gap in published form: the International GCSE November 2026 papers ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and the November 2025 results did not reach students until 22 January 2026. The practical implication is that a tier or subject conversation started after entries have closed is a conversation about the next series, not this one, so any decision you want to influence has to be raised a term earlier.

Why does Cambridge give my child's school a zone timetable?+

Because exams are sat in many time zones and Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, each with its own version of the timetable. Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong version was used. For a school candidate the exams officer handles this. For a private candidate the family carries the risk, so the question to ask the centre is which zone it sits in, and then to work only from that timetable.

Is group tuition a sensible way to cut the cost per subject?+

For content coverage, yes. Cost per student falls substantially at a group of three or four, and where two children are genuinely at the same point in the same syllabus code and tier, a shared hour can work well. For diagnosis, no. Four students lose marks in four different places and one hour cannot chase all four, so the marked, individual work that moves a grade does not happen. Treat group tuition as a different product rather than a discounted version of one-to-one, and ask specifically whether individual scripts are still marked.

Which spending on tutoring tends not to move a Cambridge IGCSE grade?+

Four patterns. Supporting four subjects at one session a week each, which produces a large bill and a student marginally better at everything. An open-ended weekly slot with no stated stopping condition and no marked evidence to review. Starting in February for a June series, when the same tutor costs more and the plan has to be repair rather than construction. And paying for contact time that produces nothing marked, which is the most expensive of the four because an hour of well-explained teaching feels identical to an hour that produced an annotated script.

Is the private tutor permit in Dubai something the family pays for?+

No. The MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's service page lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time through its smart app, website and e-services. The permit is the tutor's responsibility, not the family's, and because it costs nothing there is no reasonable excuse for not holding one. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no schedule of amounts has been published.

How many terms of tutoring should we budget for Years 10 and 11?+

For one subject, plan three to five terms spread across the two years rather than six consecutive ones. The most effective and cheapest allocation puts tier-decision support early in Year 10, content repair through the long middle stretch when rates and availability are best, and whole-paper practice in the final ten weeks, which is the only period where two sessions a week usually justifies itself. The summer between Years 10 and 11 is the underpriced window: four or five sessions in August addressing gaps found in July is worth more than ten in May.

Can we pause and restart tutoring without losing our tutor?+

Usually, and it is worth agreeing the terms before you need them. Because lessons are delivered over video and nobody is holding a travel slot, a pause for a holiday, a mock period or a family trip is a calendar matter rather than a commercial one. What to establish in advance is how long a slot is held, whether a block's unused sessions survive a pause, and whether the same tutor is guaranteed on return. During exam term a popular specialist's slot may not be held indefinitely, and we will say so rather than discover it with you later.
