Cambridge IGCSE English Second Language 0510 Online Tutor in Dubai

Booking a Cambridge IGCSE English Second Language 0510 online tutor in Dubai is cheaper per hour than hiring somebody to drive to you, and this page explains exactly where that difference comes from and what it costs you elsewhere. It also paces the spend across Year 10 and Year 11, separates the fees that belong to the exam centre from the fees that belong to a tutor, and states what happens when no specialist is free.

  • Every AED figure is another company's published rate, named and dated
  • Spend paced term by term, with a stated ceiling on each block
  • Exam centre charges are the centre's, and we never quote them
  • Coverage limits disclosed, including what happens when nobody is free

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The cheaper hour is only cheaper if you buy the right number of them

Online 0510 tuition costs less per hour than the in-home alternative in Dubai, and the published figures show the gap clearly. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai survey puts in-home one-to-one visits at AED 180-350 an hour, with independent home tutors reaching AED 500. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150, and TutorChase quotes AED 270 for specialist support. At the budget end EdFlik advertises from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52. Each figure belongs to the company named beside it and was read in October 2026.

A lower hourly rate, though, is the least interesting part of the saving. The expensive mistake in this subject is not paying too much per hour; it is paying for the wrong number of hours in the wrong term. A family that books one hour a week from September to May buys roughly thirty-five sessions whether or not the problem needed them, and in 0510 the problem is frequently four written tasks and two listening reviews away from being fixed.

So this page is organised around pacing rather than around rates. It sets out what money buys in Year 10 against what it buys in Year 11, where a stated ceiling should sit on each block, and which costs are not the tutor's at all. The exam centre's entry and administration charges, a review of results, a November retake entry: all of those sit outside a tuition quote and all of them surprise somebody every year.

It also states two things most providers in this market leave vague. The first is what happens when no suitable specialist is free at the hour you want, which is a real constraint rather than a hypothetical one, and we publish the fallback instead of discovering it after you have paid. The second is what the free trial includes and what conditions attach to it, because the word free without its conditions on the same screen is not an offer, it is a hook.

All UAE sessions run one-to-one on live video in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-home visits are a service we run only in India. For a Dubai family that means the comparison on this page is between what the local market sells and what we actually deliver, with the difference in both price and pool stated rather than implied. One further note on figures: everything quoted here is attributed to whoever published it and dated to the month it was read, and where a number could not be verified it has been left out. No IB exam or results date appears anywhere on this page for exactly that reason, because ibo.org cannot be checked automatically and a tutoring site is the wrong place to learn a date your school can confirm.

  • Published in-home band: AED 180-500, including the tutor's travel

  • Entry, re-mark and retake charges are set by the exam centre, not by us
  • Coverage and fallback published, so a scheduling limit is not a surprise
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Which qualification your child is entered for decides the calendar, the component list and the number of hours worth buying. These are the four we are asked about most by Dubai families looking at English as a second language.

0510Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language (0510)

Reading, writing, listening and speaking are each assessed, with the speaking test reported separately from the overall grade under this code. Written tasks are set in defined forms for stated readers. Component structures have been revised in recent exam years, so confirm the current list and timings for your child's exam year on cambridgeinternational.org before buying hours against an old paper format.

Cambridge runs IGCSE exams in a June series and a November series, which gives a Dubai family a genuine second chance within one academic year. It also means two sets of entry deadlines, and the deadlines sit months ahead of the papers rather than weeks.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE English as a Second Language

The Edexcel route some Dubai schools prefer. Comparable demands, different paper formats and a different calendar, so past-paper practice is not interchangeable with Cambridge material. A tutor setting Cambridge papers for an Edexcel candidate is spending your money on question types the student will never sit.

Pearson runs International GCSE exams in May/June and November, with the November 2026 final timetable running from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the next day, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

Cambridge O Level English Language

Still used by some schools in the emirate. The writing demands are close enough to IGCSE that a specialist can teach both, but the paper shape differs and the hours needed are usually fewer because the format is more predictable. That difference belongs in the quote rather than being absorbed silently.

Ask the exams officer which series the centre enters and which of Cambridge's six administrative zones it sits in. Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

0500Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE English as a First Language (0500)

Where a strong 0510 candidate sometimes moves. Two written papers, no listening or speaking inside the grade, and a heavier analytical load built on summary point selection and explanation of language effects. Moving up usually costs a block of extra writing hours in Year 10, and saves them later.

Any entry change has to clear a Cambridge deadline, not just a department's agreement. Count it backwards instead of forwards. UAE centres enter 0510 in the June series, with November as the resit route, and the final entry date falls months before the first paper rather than weeks before it, so by the spring term the entry has usually already been lodged. The exact day sits on the centre's statement of entry, and Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, which is why the zone version of the timetable matters as much as the series. That is the whole reason these conversations belong in the autumn term: a request made in the spring is a request about November or about next June, whatever the department would prefer.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Budgets are set per household, not per subject, so the list below shows where else a Dubai family's English money tends to go, and where English weakness quietly costs marks on somebody else's paper.

English as a Second Language (0510)

Cambridge IGCSE

The page's subject. Four skills, of which writing absorbs most paid hours and listening the fewest. A plan costed by skill rather than by week is usually a third shorter than the standard one-hour-a-week offer.

English as a Second Language (4ES1)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The Edexcel equivalent, on a different calendar. Worth confirming before the first session, because a term of Cambridge past papers bought for an Edexcel candidate is money spent on the wrong question formats.

English as a First Language (0500)

Cambridge IGCSE

The upgrade route. Costs a concentrated block of writing hours in Year 10 and tends to reduce what a family spends in Year 12, because the analytical habits are already built before AS Level.

Mathematics A (4MA1)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The most common second subject in a Dubai family's tutoring budget. Word problems punish weak reading, so before paying for two tutors it is worth checking whether the maths loss is actually a language loss.

Computer Science (0478)

Cambridge IGCSE

Written answers about algorithms reward precision over fluency. Students who have learned to answer the exact task in 0510 writing tend to stop narrating their code and start describing it, which is where the marks are.

Accounting (0452)

Cambridge IGCSE

Short written explanations carry marks alongside the numbers. A 0510 candidate who can write a controlled two-sentence justification gains here without extra accounting teaching, which is a cheaper repair than a second tutor.

Business Studies (0450)

Cambridge IGCSE

Evaluation marks are written marks. The report-writing work inside a 0510 plan transfers almost directly, so sequencing English before business usually costs a family less than running both at once.

Travel and Tourism (0471)

Cambridge IGCSE

Popular in the emirate and heavily written. Case-study answers need economical prose under time pressure, which is the same discipline a 0510 report task teaches, so the two sit well in one plan.

Geography (0460)

Cambridge IGCSE

Case-study recall is rarely the problem; structuring an answer inside the time is. Families often buy geography hours for what is really a writing-pace issue, and the cheaper fix sits in the English session.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Each of these is priced as a block with a stated number of sessions. That is deliberate: an open weekly arrangement is the single easiest way for an English budget to grow without anybody deciding that it should.

Fortnightly session with a marked task between

The lowest-cost shape that still works. One written task every two weeks, marked in full against what the task demanded, discussed in a live session, then redrafted. Half the sessions of a weekly plan, most of the benefit for a student who is not in an exam term, because redrafting needs a gap rather than a reminder.

  • One marked task per fortnight, not per week
  • Roughly half the monthly cost of a weekly arrangement
  • Suits Year 10 and the autumn of Year 11
  • Converts to weekly only if the evidence says it should

Term block with a stated ceiling

A fixed number of sessions, agreed in advance, with an end date and a price you can see in full before the first lesson. Eight or ten sessions is typical for a writing block. The ceiling is the point: it forces a decision at the end rather than letting a monthly debit continue through a term where nothing is being marked.

  • Session count and end date agreed before payment
  • Written review before any extension is discussed
  • Unused sessions not rolled into a new commitment silently
  • Pauses for travel or Ramadan do not consume the block

Final-six-weeks rehearsal

Timed practice across the components in the run-up to a series, bought as a short package rather than as an intensification of a yearly plan. Two to four sessions, each built around a complete timed attempt, with marks recorded per component so the last fortnight targets whichever one is still weakest.

  • Two to four sessions inside the final six weeks
  • Whole components sat to time, then marked
  • Marks recorded per component for the final push
  • Priced as a package with a hard end date

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What an online 0510 tutor in Dubai costs, answered first

A Cambridge IGCSE English Second Language 0510 online tutor in Dubai sits, in market terms, in the AED 150-300 an hour band for a qualified subject tutor. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and TutorChase quotes AED 270, both read in October 2026. Below that band, EdFlik advertises from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52, which buys supervision rather than diagnosis. Above it, BartyED publishes AED 650 for a premium tier.

The in-home comparison is published too. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai survey puts visiting one-to-one tuition at AED 180-350 an hour, with independent home tutors reaching AED 500 once travel is included. Monthly packages circulate as well: AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits. Those are other companies' numbers, quoted with their names and the month they were read. IB Gram quotes after a free trial lesson rather than publishing a rate card.

What none of those figures answer is how many hours your child needs, which is the number that decides the bill. A 0510 plan built around four to six marked written tasks, a short listening cycle and a speaking block is a fundamentally different purchase from a year of weekly hours, even at an identical rate. The rest of this page is about that distinction, because it is where the money actually goes. Ask any provider to break a quote into skills with a session count against each, and the comparison becomes possible; ask only for an hourly rate and it does not.

02

Why the online unit is cheaper, and what you give up

The gap between AED 150-300 and AED 180-500 is mostly road. A tutor driving between two Dubai appointments in the late afternoon spends unpaid time in traffic and prices it into the hour, which is rational rather than greedy. Remove the journey and the same teaching hour costs less, the session starts when the student sits down, and a cancellation becomes a twenty-minute reschedule rather than a lost evening for both parties.

Two further savings are structural. A video session can be thirty minutes, which makes frequent short speaking practice affordable; nobody drives across Dubai for half an hour. And the tutor pool stops being a function of geography, so a family is choosing from people who know the 0510 components rather than from people who live within range and are free at five. For a four-skill language paper that widening matters more than for most subjects.

What you give up is real and worth stating. There is no physical presence to enforce concentration, so a student who will not sit at a desk without an adult beside them is harder to help online. Younger students need a parent within earshot for the first few sessions. Equipment matters: a headset and a stable connection are the difference between a listening exercise and an argument about audio. IB Gram does not sell in-home sessions anywhere in the UAE, so these are the trade-offs on offer rather than a menu. A trial lesson is the cheapest way to find out which side of them your child falls on.

03

Pacing the spend across Year 10 and Year 11

The table below is the shape we recommend to Dubai families, and it is deliberately front-loaded. Work done in Year 10 is cheaper per unit of benefit because there is time for redrafting to do its job, and because a problem identified early is usually three or four marked tasks away from repair. The same problem found at the Year 11 mocks costs a compressed block at exam-term intensity, which is the most expensive way to buy the same hours.

Read the fourth column as a band rather than a quote. It applies Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions, AED 240-600 at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support, to the number of sessions each stage actually needs. A fortnightly plan halves the mid-band monthly figure, which is why the autumn of Year 10 appears so much cheaper than the spring of Year 11.

One line in the table has no tuition cost at all. The stage after results is where a family decides between accepting a grade, asking the centre about a review of results, and entering for the November series. That decision is worth more than several sessions and costs nothing but a conversation with the exams officer, provided it happens inside the centre's own deadlines rather than after them. Families who ask about those deadlines in April rather than in August give themselves a choice; the others inherit whichever option is left.

04

The costs that belong to the exam centre, not the tutor

Three charges catch Dubai families out every year, and none of them is a tuition fee. The first is entry. A candidate sitting through their school usually has entry inside school fees, and KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not rise for 2026-27 under Dubai's second economic incentives package, valued at AED 1.5 billion. A private candidate pays the exam centre directly, and the centre sets both the entry charge and its administration fee.

The second is a review of results. The window is short and the decision is better taken before results arrive than during the week they land, which means asking the exams officer in advance what the centre's internal cut-off is and what it charges. The third is a retake entry. Cambridge runs June and November series, so a near miss in June can often be re-sat in November, but that series has its own deadline and the centre's cut-off sits earlier than Cambridge's.

A tutor has no part in any of these transactions and should not be quoting figures for them. If a provider offers to handle your entry or implies that tuition is required for a successful entry, treat both claims carefully: the first is the centre's job, and the second is false urgency about a process that has nothing to do with buying lessons. Ask the centre in writing, early, and keep the reply. A dated email from the exams officer is worth more at results time than any assurance from a tutor.

05

Who regulates your child's school, and why it changes the plan

Dubai families with children at schools in neighbouring emirates, or who are considering a move, often assume one authority covers everything. It does not. Five bodies oversee private schools across the seven emirates, and they govern different things. KHDA is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai. ADEK supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in Abu Dhabi. SPEA regulates private education in Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge does the same there.

The practical consequences are concrete. Sharjah's and Ras Al Khaimah's authorities approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so curriculum and fee decisions sit with the emirate regulator rather than only with the school. The Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Across all of them the federal baseline holds: private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations.

For a tutoring plan this matters in two ways. It tells you whose published inspection or licensing information to read when judging a school, and it tells you where to ask about entry and equivalency questions. It is also the point at which to be plain about our own position: IB Gram holds no permit, approval, accreditation or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB, and no page on this site should be read as implying otherwise.

What happens when no 0510 specialist is free

Every tutoring platform has coverage limits and almost none of them publish theirs. Ours are ordinary and worth stating. Afternoon and early-evening slots in Gulf Standard Time fill first, and they fill earliest between February and May when every exam-year family in the emirate wants the same hours. A request for a 0511 speaking specialist three weeks before an oral is harder to meet than a request for a writing block in October, and pretending otherwise would just waste your week.

The table sets out what we can usually do, how long matching takes, and what the fallback is when nobody suitable is free at your preferred hour. The fallbacks are honest rather than flattering: a different time slot, a different session shape, a tutor outside the UAE working to Gulf Standard Time, or a straight answer that we cannot help in the window you need. No part of this is a tutor count or a claim about availability we could not evidence.

The reason to publish it is that the alternative is worse. Several providers in this market conceal non-UAE delivery behind a local-looking contact number, and at least two route UAE parents to numbers in another country entirely. If a tutor is working from outside the UAE, you should be told before you book, not discover it from an accent and a time zone. Our position is that all UAE sessions are online, so where the tutor sits is a question of scheduling, and we answer it directly.

07

What the free trial includes, and the conditions attached

A trial lesson with us is one full sixty-minute one-to-one session with the proposed tutor, at no cost, with no card details taken and no obligation to continue afterwards. One trial per student, with the tutor we think fits best. If the match is wrong you say so and we propose somebody else rather than asking you to persevere. Those are the conditions in full, and they belong on the same screen as the word free rather than in terms nobody reads.

The trial is most useful when it has something to work on. Send the syllabus code from the entry sheet and one marked written task beforehand, and the hour can be spent diagnosing rather than introducing. A good trial ends with you knowing which of the four skills is costing the grade and roughly how many sessions that repair takes. A weak trial ends with everyone agreeing that your child is lovely and should read more.

What a trial cannot do is predict a grade, and nobody offering one should. It also cannot commit us to an hour we do not have: if the only slots left are at times that do not suit your household, we say that during the trial rather than after you have paid for a block. Any quote that follows states whether VAT is included in the figures given; we do not publish general claims about the VAT treatment of tuition in the UAE, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation we are not in a position to make.

08

Price signals that should make a Dubai parent pause

A quote carries information beyond its number. At the bottom of the market the thing missing is almost always marking: reading a 0510 written task properly against what it demanded takes a real share of an hour, and at AED 45 nobody can afford to do it, so the session becomes conversation. Ask directly what gets marked between sessions and ask to see anonymised written feedback. That one question separates the bands faster than any credential list.

At the top of the market, scrutinise claims rather than prices. Examiner status used as a selling point should be evidenced and should never be presented as access to marking, boundaries or paper content. Self-published star ratings are worth little: competitors in this SERP show different review totals on the same page, and one shows a rating from twenty reviews beside a claim about a student body in the thousands. A rate of AED 650 an hour may be perfectly fair; the claims attached to it still need checking.

Three further signals are worth noting. Any promise of a specific grade, or a refund tied to an outcome, is a claim nobody in this market can honour honestly. Any suggestion of approval or accreditation from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoHRE, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB should be checked against the body's own register, since the permit regime for individual tutors sits with MoHRE and the training-institute permit with KHDA. And a UAE page offering a contact number in another country is telling you where the service actually sits.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Online delivery flattens distance, so the communities below are listed for what actually differs: when a session can start, and what the local alternative would cost.

Al Barsha South

Strong local school supply, so in-home quotes here sit mid-band rather than at the top. Families still choose video slots to get a 0510 specialist rather than whichever generalist has a free Tuesday.

Barsha Heights

Apartment living with short school runs and parents working late. The popular slots are 7pm and 8pm, which a visiting tutor cannot easily reach after an afternoon of appointments elsewhere.

The Greens and The Views

Compact, well connected and full of households comparing a centre group class against one-to-one. Group pricing is genuinely lower per student, and the decision usually turns on whether written tasks get marked individually.

Jumeirah Park

Villa community with a sizeable British-curriculum cohort. The common request here is a short block before a speaking test rather than a full year of sessions, which is exactly the kind of plan that needs a stated end date.

Al Quoz

Where several of the emirate's tuition centres sit, so families here are comparing a short drive to a group class against a video session at home. Both are reasonable; the costs are structured differently and worth laying side by side.

Dubai Investment Park and Green Community

Far enough from central Dubai that an in-home tutor's travel is a visible part of any quote. Session continuity through the summer matters here too, because many families travel for long stretches.

Nad Al Sheba

Spread-out villa plots with no single convenient tutor route. Households here tend to buy blocks with explicit ceilings rather than rolling monthly arrangements, which is the pattern this page recommends generally.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Al Barsha South and Barsha Heights

A dense cluster of international campuses with mixed boards and large multilingual intakes. Students from here often arrive with good spoken English and written tasks that answered the wrong brief, which is a short, cheap repair.

  • Dwight School Dubai
  • Safa Community School
  • American School of Dubai
  • Dubai International Academy Al Barsha
  • GEMS World Academy Dubai

The Greens, Jumeirah Park and Dubai Investment Park

A western belt where several schools sit within a few minutes of each other and families compare group classes against one-to-one. Plans here are usually short blocks tied to a specific component rather than year-long arrangements.

  • Greenfield International School
  • Regent International School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Nibras International School
  • Emirates International School Meadows

School names are given as market context for Dubai only. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and holds no affiliation, partnership, endorsement or commercial relationship with any school, school group or regulator named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the code and one marked task

The syllabus code from the entry sheet decides the plan, and one marked written task shows whether marks went on register, on task fulfilment or on accuracy. Those two documents take you five minutes to find and save a session of diagnosis, which is a session you would otherwise pay for.

  2. 02

    Free trial lesson, conditions stated

One full sixty-minute one-to-one lesson per student, no cost, no card details, no obligation. Built around one skill rather than a tour of the subject. If the slot you need does not exist, we say so during the trial rather than after a block has been bought.

  3. 03

Agree a block with a ceiling

A stated number of sessions, a stated end date, and the full price visible before the first lesson. Eight to ten sessions is typical for a writing block. Nothing rolls over silently, and pausing for travel or Ramadan does not consume sessions you have not had.

  4. 04

    Review before extending

At the end of a block you get a written note on what has stopped going wrong and what has not, with a recommendation. Extending is a decision taken from that note, not a default. Families who only needed half the block are told so and billed for what happened.

  5. 05

    Plan the exam admin separately

Entry, review of results and November retake questions go to the exam centre, in writing, well ahead of its internal deadlines. We will tell you which questions to ask and when, and we will not quote the centre's charges, because setting them is the centre's job and guessing them is nobody's.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Blocks with ceilings, not rolling months

Every plan has a session count and an end date agreed before payment. Open-ended weekly tuition is how an English budget doubles between October and May without anyone deciding that it should, and it is the default shape across most of this market.

Rates sourced, ours quoted after a trial

EdFlik, Tutopiya, Unitors, TutorChase, BartyED and Bestimate published the AED figures used here, read in October 2026. We quote after a free trial lesson instead of publishing a rate card, and we say plainly when a shorter plan would do.

Coverage limits published

Afternoon slots between February and May are the hardest thing we sell, and a speaking specialist three weeks before an oral may not exist at your preferred hour. The fallback is on this page rather than in an email after payment.

The centre's charges stay the centre's

Entry fees, review of results and retake entries are set by the exam centre and we never quote them. Nor do we suggest that tuition is needed for a successful entry or for Ministry equivalency, which would be false urgency about a regulatory process.

Online delivery, stated without hedging

All UAE sessions run one-to-one on live video in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Where a tutor sits is a scheduling question, and we answer it before you book rather than after.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

Why does an online 0510 tutor charge less than one who drives to us?+

Because the journey is a cost somebody pays. Bestimate's 2026 survey puts visiting one-to-one tuition in Dubai at AED 180-350 an hour, with independent home tutors reaching AED 500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified online subject tutor where Unitors publishes a floor of AED 150. A tutor crossing the city in the late afternoon prices the unpaid traffic into the hour. Remove the travel and the teaching hour costs less, the session starts on time, and a clash becomes a reschedule rather than a lost evening.

Can we spread 0510 costs across Year 10 and Year 11?+

That is the cheaper plan, and the table on this page sets out the shape. Fortnightly marked writing through Year 10 at roughly half the mid-band monthly figure, a short listening cycle and a first speaking block before the summer, then the main weekly writing block in the Year 11 autumn at Bestimate's mid band of AED 600-1,200 a month. Spreading the work costs less in total than compressing it, because redrafting needs time to do its job and panic buys hours rather than progress.

Is starting in Year 10 genuinely cheaper than starting after the mocks?+

Yes, measurably, because the same repair takes fewer sessions when there is time between them. A written register problem found in October of Year 10 is usually three or four marked tasks away from fixed, at a fortnightly rate. The identical problem found at the Year 11 mocks needs a compressed block at exam-term intensity, where Bestimate's specialist band runs AED 1,000-2,000 or more a month. The hours are similar; the price per hour and the number needed are both worse.

What do we pay the exam centre rather than the tutor?+

Entry charges and the centre's administration fee if your child sits as a private candidate, any fee for a review of results, and a fresh entry charge for a November retake. A tutor has no role in those transactions and should not be quoting figures for them. Ask the centre in writing early, because its internal cut-off dates sit earlier than Cambridge's own deadlines, and keep the reply. If a provider offers to handle your entry, remember that entry administration is the centre's job.

Does a November resit cost more than entering in June?+

The charges are set by the exam centre, so ask it directly rather than taking a figure from a tutoring site. What is predictable is the timing: Cambridge runs a June series and a November series, so a near miss in June can usually be re-sat in November, but the November deadline arrives faster than families expect and the centre's cut-off is earlier still. Budget for the entry and for a short rehearsal package rather than for a second year of weekly tuition.

Do you charge for a session cancelled the night before?+

Our working rule is that nothing is billed for a session that does not happen, and that a slot can be moved rather than lost, because moving a video session costs nobody a journey. What we ask in return is as much notice as a household can realistically give, since a late cancellation in February removes an hour that another exam-year family would have taken. Any specific terms attached to a block are stated before payment rather than appearing afterwards.

What exactly is included in the free trial lesson?+

One full sixty-minute one-to-one session per student with the proposed tutor, at no cost, with no card details taken and no obligation to continue. If the match is wrong, we propose a different tutor instead of asking you to persevere. Send the syllabus code and one marked written task beforehand so the hour diagnoses rather than introduces. Those are the conditions in full; a trial described as free without its conditions on the same screen is not an offer worth acting on.

Is there a discount if both our children need 0510 support?+

Two children usually need two plans rather than one shared hour, because the skill that is leaking is rarely the same. What does save money is scheduling: consecutive slots with the same tutor where the syllabus and level genuinely overlap, which removes a second diagnostic and a second set of scheduling friction. Any price adjustment is stated in the quote before payment. We will say plainly if two different specialists would serve your children better than one compromise match.

Our school is in Sharjah but we live in Dubai. Which regulator applies?+

The school's emirate, not your address. Sharjah private schools are regulated by the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which also approves fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Dubai schools sit with KHDA, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain with ADEK, Ras Al Khaimah with its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah with the Ministry of Education. For entry, equivalency and inspection questions, read the authority that licenses the school your child attends.

What if no 0510 tutor is free at the hour we need?+

We tell you, and offer the fallback rather than a vague promise. Afternoon slots in Gulf Standard Time fill first and fill earliest between February and May. The realistic alternatives are a 7pm or weekend-morning slot, a fortnightly shape instead of weekly, a marking-focused arrangement with brief live time, or a place in the queue with an honest estimate. Sometimes the right answer is that we cannot help inside your window, and saying so beats taking the booking.

Do rates go up in the six weeks before the exams?+

Availability tightens rather than the hourly figure rising, but the monthly cost goes up anyway because families buy two sessions a week instead of one. Bestimate's specialist exam-year band of AED 1,000-2,000 or more a month reflects that intensity rather than a price increase. The way to avoid it is to buy the writing block in the autumn, when slots are open and fewer sessions achieve more. Late bookers pay in choice of hour as much as in money.

Is a monthly package better value than paying per block?+

Packages published in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits, which look efficient and assume you need that volume every month. Our view is that a block with a stated session count and end date fits 0510 better, because the subject needs concentrated work on one or two skills and then less. A monthly debit through a term where nothing is being marked is the most common way families overspend here.

Are the figures on this page inclusive of VAT?+

The AED figures here are other companies' published rates, so how each treats VAT is a question for them. For our own work, any quote we give you states whether VAT is included in the number quoted. We deliberately do not publish general statements about the VAT treatment of tuition fees in the UAE, because that would require a Federal Tax Authority citation, and we do not display a tax registration number we do not hold. Ask any provider to put the VAT position in the quote.

How do we tell whether a cheap 0510 quote is hiding something?+

Ask three questions. What gets marked between sessions, and can we see anonymised written feedback? Who covers the sessions if the tutor leaves Dubai in June? And is the tutor working under the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is granted free of charge for two years under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023? A low rate is not dishonest, but at the bottom of the market the missing item is almost always the marking, and marking is the part that moves a grade.
