IB IGCSE Tutor for Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches Students in Dubai

Pricing an IB IGCSE tutor for Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches students in Dubai is harder than it should be, because most providers in this market publish no number at all. This page publishes the bands with their sources, explains what an hour actually contains, and names the Dubai-specific drivers that move a quote. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, not at your address.

  • Every AED figure is a published market rate with its source named

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Dubai has the deepest tutoring market in the country and the least transparent pricing

Research for this market fetched and read sixty-odd competitor pages in October 2026, and the pricing finding was consistent. Three of the six pages competing for queries like this one publish no price at all. The two that do quote in US dollars, a currency no family at an Arabian Ranches school pays school fees in or budgets a month in. One agency's own frequently asked questions poses the cost question and then declines to answer it. That is not an accident of layout; it is a strategy, and it works because a parent with no reference range cannot compare anything.

So this page leads with money and keeps its sources attached. The market bands by provider model, with who publishes what. What an hour of tutoring actually contains, which matters because an hourly rate is not a unit of teaching. The Dubai-specific factors that move a quote, which are different from the factors in a smaller emirate. The exam-season surge, which is the largest avoidable cost available to a family in this city. And the five questions that settle a price in writing.

What makes Dubai distinctive is depth of supply. The emirate had 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen different curricula in 2024-25, with the UK curriculum accounting for thirty-seven per cent of enrolment, Indian twenty-six, American fourteen and the International Baccalaureate seven. A sector that size employs a great many subject teachers, which pushes rates down at the ordinary end and makes genuine scarcity rarer than in Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain. It also means the top of the market has room to charge whatever reputation will bear, and one provider publishes AED 650 an hour.

IB Gram supports Arabian Ranches families with one-to-one lessons over live video on Gulf Standard Time. It does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service that exists only in India, and that statement appears on every country page this site publishes. The Dubai in-home market is substantial and publishes roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour. A later section breaks that premium into its parts community by community, because in a city where the afternoon commute is the real variable, what the premium buys differs by postcode.

Two things are deliberately absent. No statement about the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees, because making one responsibly requires a Federal Tax Authority citation and this page has none; ask any provider in writing whether a quoted figure is inclusive. And no fine amount for unpermitted tutoring, because the ministry published no schedule and the figure circulating online could not be verified against any official source. Both absences are deliberate, and they are the kind of absence worth looking for on any page that quotes money. A provider willing to publish a number it cannot source will publish others, and a parent then has no way to tell which figures on that page were read from a document and which were estimated into existence.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost varies by stage because the assessment load and the specialist pool both change. Three stages account for nearly every pricing enquiry from this catchment.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE, Years 10 and 11

Eight or nine subjects assessed by terminal paper, with tiering and a board-dependent practical arrangement in the sciences. The widest specialist supply of any stage in Dubai, which keeps rates nearest the middle of the published band.

The pricing decision at this stage is usually how many subjects, and the honest answer is normally fewer than families start with. Two subjects at two sessions a week is four sessions plus four sets of homework on top of nine certificates, and the common result is two half-improvements at double the monthly cost of one completed one.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS, scored out of 45 with 24 as the minimum. Higher Level subjects draw on a smaller pool than IGCSE, so rates sit higher and booking earlier matters more than it does lower down.

Published market monthly estimates for specialist exam-year support run from roughly AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more, the highest band for any tutoring in the country. A large share of that is the spring scarcity premium rather than a difference in teaching, which makes the first Diploma year the cheapest point to engage the same person.

A LEVELAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

AS and A Level, where that route is taken

Three or four subjects taken deeper with no compulsory core. Confirm the current sixth-form provision with the school, since offers change. Where a choice exists it also changes the tutoring budget, because fewer subjects concentrate the spend.

A Level support is often cheaper in total than Diploma support for the same household, simply because there are three subjects rather than six and no core to coach. That is a budgeting fact rather than an argument for the route, and it should not decide a choice that shapes the next four years.

YR 7-9Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

The years before the options form

The cheapest tutoring in the whole school career and the stage most families skip. Nothing is yet being repaired against a deadline, the specialist requirement is lower, and a weakness identified here costs a handful of sessions rather than a term.

The Year 9 options form fixes the subject list and usually the tier. A Cambridge Core entry is capped at grade C, closing post-16 routes that need a B. Evidence from a timed Extended paper is what reopens that, and producing it in Year 9 costs a fraction of what a Year 11 recovery does.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Subjects are not interchangeable in price, because supply differs even in a market this deep. Each note says what drives the cost rather than only what the subject assesses.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The most requested Higher Level subject in the Gulf, which makes autumn booking materially easier than spring booking. Standard Level runs two papers at forty per cent each plus the Exploration at twenty; Higher Level adds Paper 3 at twenty and rebalances the rest.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Less requested than Analysis and Approaches, which usually means a shorter wait rather than a lower rate. Modelling questions need written interpretation in context, and calculator technique is examinable in its own right.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Reasonably available in Dubai and scarce almost everywhere else in the country, which is a direct illustration of why emirate matters to price. Paper 1 at thirty-six per cent, Paper 2 at forty-four, investigation at twenty with a 3,000-word cap.

Physics

HL and SL

Comparable availability to Chemistry. The hidden cost driver is algebraic fluency: a Physics student who is also weak in mathematics needs more hours, and a good tutor says so in the first fortnight rather than the third month.

Biology

HL and SL

The widest supply of the three sciences and the heaviest content load, so the hours tend to be more numerous and individually less specialised. Most of the gain comes from retrieval practice, which is cheap per unit of improvement.

Economics

HL and SL

Efficient to tutor because diagram accuracy is a narrow teachable skill carrying a disproportionate share of the marks. The portfolio is three commentaries of no more than 800 words each on real published articles.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Wide availability keeps rates mid-band. The Individual Oral, worth thirty per cent at Standard Level, is where hours convert fastest, because rehearsal against published criteria is a dependable technology.

Business Management

HL and SL

Available and inexpensive relative to the sciences. The pre-released case for the Higher Level paper is the single best use of booked hours, because it can be worked through months before the examination and usually is not.

IGCSE Mathematics and Sciences

Core, Extended, Foundation, Higher

The deepest supply and therefore the most competitive pricing of anything on this list. Confirm the syllabus code first: Cambridge sciences carry a twenty per cent practical component while Pearson Edexcel sciences have no separate practical exam.

Computer Science and Design Technology

HL, SL and IGCSE

Scarcer than the mainstream subjects even in Dubai, so availability rather than rate is usually the binding constraint. Both pair theory with an internal assessment where documentation is marked alongside the product.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements at three price points, all delivered online and one-to-one. The cheapest in total is not the one with the lowest hourly rate.

One weekly session, booked early

A single session a week running slightly ahead of the school's scheme of work, so each topic is met twice and nothing is being repaired against a deadline. Market monthly estimates for a mid-range qualified tutor at one weekly hour sit around AED 600 to 1,200, and this is the lowest cost per grade gained of any arrangement.

  • Booked in the autumn, before the spring scarcity premium
  • A fixed weekday and hour on Gulf Standard Time
  • Work set between sessions and marked before the next one

A defined block on one component

Four to six sessions aimed at a single named component with a published weighting: the internal assessment plan, the Individual Oral, the pre-released business case, Paper 3 at Higher Level mathematics. Priced as a block rather than monthly, with a visible finish.

  • Scoped and priced as a block, not open-ended
  • A named target with a percentage attached
  • Finishes rather than rolling on indefinitely

Two sessions a week in the final stretch

Roughly double the monthly figure, inside the published exam-year band of about AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more. Worth it when a diagnostic shows a short specific list of lost-mark causes; poor value when gaps run across the whole syllabus, because there is not enough time left to close them.

  • Opens with a timed paper marked against the official scheme
  • The second weekly session moves to full papers under timing
  • Adds no new content in the final fortnight

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

The market bands, and which provider model charges what

Published rates read in October 2026 put budget online platforms and university-student tutors between roughly AED 45 and 150 an hour, with some platform entry rates quoted from AED 33. A qualified subject tutor working online sits at roughly AED 150 to 300, with one agency publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. A named IB, IGCSE or A Level specialist runs roughly AED 200 to 450 or more, and one agency publishes AED 270. In-home one-to-one visits including travel run roughly AED 180 to 500. At the top, a single provider publishes AED 650 an hour.

Monthly packages advertised in this market include roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and roughly AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Those two look comparable and are not: the second buys eight hours of contact time, the first buys eight sessions of unstated length. Convert every package to a cost per contact hour before putting it next to an hourly rate, because that single step resolves most of the confusion in this market.

Each figure belongs to the provider that published it, and quoting one is neither an endorsement nor a comment on quality. They appear here because an Arabian Ranches parent needs a reference range and the pages competing for this search decline to supply one. IB Gram's own figure is not in the table, because a single number would mislead: it depends on subject, level and frequency, and it follows the free trial lesson.

One instruction before comparing anything. Ask every provider, this one included, whether the quoted figure includes VAT, and require the answer in writing. This page states nothing about the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees because doing so responsibly needs a Federal Tax Authority citation, and there is none here. What a parent can always do is make the inclusive or exclusive position explicit in the quote itself.

What an hour actually contains, and why the rate alone is meaningless

An hourly rate implies that the unit being bought is an hour of talking, and for some providers that is exactly what it is. For others the hour sits on top of work done outside it: marking what the student produced since last time, planning the session against the school's scheme, and writing something a parent can read. Two providers at the same nominal rate can therefore be selling quite different things, and nobody in this market itemises it.

Marking is the part that matters most and is least visible. A piece of work annotated properly away from the student, against the official mark scheme, produces a document that can be compared with next month's. The same correction made verbally in the room leaves nothing behind. If marking is not included in the rate, the arrangement generates no evidence, and a family discovers whether it worked at results rather than in week five.

Planning is the second invisible component. A session built against the school's scheme of work, so that the student meets a topic shortly before or after their class does, is worth more than the same hour spent on whatever the student mentions first. That alignment requires knowing what the school is covering, which requires asking, which takes time outside the session.

The practical move is to ask the question directly: of this rate, how much is contact time, who marks work between sessions and is that time included, and what will I receive in writing after four weeks. A provider that answers plainly is giving you more than any of the pages competing for this search. A provider that treats the question as unusual has answered it.

03

The travel premium, community by community

In-home and online bands overlap, which makes the comparison look like taste. Split the in-home figure into its parts and it stops being a preference. A travelling tutor is paid for teaching, for the journey, and for the scarcity of people willing to make that journey at that hour. In Arabian Ranches itself the journey is short and the premium is mostly genuine convenience. In Mudon, Damac Hills or Jumeirah Golf Estates the journey is long enough that a meaningful share of the rate is a car on the Dubailand corridor at five in the afternoon.

There is a second cost that nobody prices and everybody experiences: drift. An arrival is not a start time. A session booked for 17:00 that begins at 17:20 and ends on time has lost a third of itself, and the part that gets cut is always the end, where the review happens and the next week's work is set. Over a term that converts a weekly arrangement into something closer to fortnightly at weekly cost, and the family concludes the tutoring is not working when what is not working is the traffic.

The honest counterweight is that presence matters for some students, particularly younger ones who need supervision as much as teaching, and for anyone whose attention has to be externally managed. The mitigations for a screen are specific rather than reassuring: shorter sessions with a break, a shared document the tutor writes on live so the student watches working appear, a visible worked page rather than a talking head, and a parent within earshot for the first few weeks.

For a Year 11 or Diploma student in this catchment the arithmetic usually favours online, and not because of the headline rate. It favours online because a fixed slot and marked work between sessions produce evidence, and an arrival window on a busy corridor produces a pleasant relationship with no document at the end of it.

Tutoring against the other education lines in a Dubai household

Tutoring is rarely the largest education line in a household in this catchment, which is exactly why it is the line that gets examined. Seeing it in proportion changes how it is decided. Fees dominate. Examination entry as a private candidate is a real cost families forget until the invoice arrives. And a two-year commitment at one session a week is a different kind of obligation from a four-session block, even at an identical hourly rate.

On fees, the context is unusually clear in Dubai right now. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private-school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a family budgeting across a year, a flat fee line makes the discretionary lines easier to plan and harder to justify loosely.

The supply picture is also expanding, which matters for scarcity and therefore for price over time. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools — four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate — creating 16,846 new places, after six new schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose by six per cent. More International Baccalaureate places means more Diploma teachers in the city over time, which is the structural reason Dubai rates for Higher Level subjects sit below those in emirates where the pool is thin.

The planning conclusion is unexciting and correct. Set the annual tutoring line in the household education budget before choosing a provider, then pick the arrangement that fits it. A family that decides it can spend the mid-range monthly band on one subject for a year makes better decisions than one that starts with two subjects at two sessions a week and revisits the figure when it becomes uncomfortable in March.

05

The exam-season surge, and how not to pay it

  • Exam-year specialist support is the highest published band in the country
  • A large share of the spring premium is scarcity, not teaching quality
  • Content gaps close at roughly two to four weeks per topic, which caps late repair
  • Engage in the autumn on last year's evidence, not in the spring on panic

The largest avoidable cost in Dubai tutoring is not a provider's margin. It is timing. Published market estimates put specialist exam-year support at roughly AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more a month for a weekly hour, the highest band for any tutoring in the country, and a substantial part of that is scarcity in the spring rather than any difference in teaching quality. In February every family in the Gulf is looking for the same Higher Level specialists, and the specialists are choosing.

The same person booked in the autumn of the first Diploma year, or in Year 10 rather than Year 11, costs less per month, is actually available, and has four times as long to work in. That is not a marketing claim; it is the structure of a market with seasonal demand. The analogy is unglamorous but exact: you are not buying better teaching in the spring, you are buying the last seat on a flight.

There is a second-order effect that matters more than the money. A specialist engaged late is engaged for repair, and repair has a ceiling. Content gaps close at roughly two to four weeks per topic, which means a student with gaps across a syllabus eight weeks out cannot close them all and should be told so honestly rather than sold a plan that assumes otherwise. The same hours spent a year earlier would have been teaching rather than triage.

Avoiding the surge takes one decision made once: fix the tutoring line in the budget at the start of the school year rather than at the first crisis, and engage in the autumn for whichever subject the previous year's evidence flagged. Families who do this spend less in total and get more, and they also stop competing with the whole city for the same fortnight in February.

06

Where families in this catchment waste money

Five patterns account for most wasted spend, and none involves a bad tutor. The first is the surge above. The second is buying hours before a diagnostic: if nobody has sat a timed paper, marked it against the official scheme and attributed every lost mark to a cause, the plan is a guess and the hours go wherever the student's anxiety points. The six causes — content not known, content not recalled under pressure, question misread, command term misread, method not written out, time ran out — need different remedies, and five of six are not fixed by more teaching.

The third is spreading across subjects. Two subjects at two sessions a week each is four sessions plus four sets of homework on top of a full Dubai school week, which is longer than it looks because Arabic, Islamic Education and social or moral studies run alongside the licensed curriculum in every private school in the emirate. Sequencing produces better results for the same money: the subject with the shortest loss list first, banked, then the hours move.

The fourth is paying for presence a student does not need, analysed community by community above. The fifth is the quietest: never reviewing. An arrangement that made sense in October is rarely examined in February. What to ask for is the written risk list from the diagnostic, updated monthly, with each item marked closed, improving or unchanged and the marked work behind it. An item unchanged after three weeks is a conversation. Three unchanged after two months means something should change.

There is also a sixth pattern worth naming because it is specific to a deep market. In a city with 227 private schools and a large tutoring sector, there is always somebody cheaper and always somebody more expensive, and families churn between them. Each change costs a diagnostic, a relationship and usually a month. Changing because the evidence says the arrangement is not working is rational; changing because a cheaper rate appeared is usually not.

07

Five questions that settle a price, in writing

  • Does the figure include VAT, in writing
  • Per hour or per session, and how long is a session
  • What happens if we stop after one month
  • Who marks work between sessions, and is that time included
  • What happens if the tutor becomes unavailable

Most price conversations in this market are vague because nobody asks precisely. Five questions, answered in writing, settle almost everything and take one message to send. They also sort providers quickly, because a provider who answers all five plainly is offering more transparency than any of the pages competing for this search.

First: does the figure include VAT. This page deliberately asserts nothing about the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees, because doing so responsibly requires a Federal Tax Authority citation. What a parent can always do is require the inclusive or exclusive position in the quote. Second: is the rate per hour or per session, and how long is a session. A package of eight sessions is not eight hours unless somebody says so.

Third: what happens if we stop after one month. Notice periods and minimum commitments are legitimate and should be stated before payment, not discovered afterwards. Fourth: who marks work between sessions, against what, and is that time inside the rate. This is the question that separates an arrangement which produces evidence from one that produces a pleasant relationship. Fifth: what happens if the matched tutor becomes unavailable, and is there a handover of the written risk list.

Two more are worth adding for anything described as free. A trial should be free without conditions that appear later, and any condition attached to the word free belongs on the same screen as the word. And if a provider states a rating, a satisfaction percentage or a student count, ask for the sample size, the date and the method. Several pages in this market publish figures with none of the three, and one shows two different ratings in the same document.

08

What this page will not claim, and why that is the point

A page about money in this market is exactly where the overclaims live, so here is what is absent and why. No statement about the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees, because that needs a Federal Tax Authority citation. No fine amount for unpermitted tutoring, because the ministry did not publish a schedule and the number circulating online could not be verified. No IB points threshold for Ministry of Education equivalency, because no official source for one could be read. No star rating, no satisfaction percentage, no student count, because none could be produced with a sample size, a date and a method attached.

On permits, the relevant cost is zero. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's own service with a stated two working days to complete. Eligible applicants include school-registered teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

On assessed work, the cheapest-looking purchase in this market is the most expensive thing on any menu. A page in this search result sells completed internal assessment work at a fixed price. Submitting work that is not the candidate's own is malpractice under the board's rules, and the consequence falls on the student's qualification rather than the seller's business. Measured against two years of work and a university offer, nothing else in this market costs as much.

And position. IB Gram is not approved, accredited, licensed or partnered by the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge International, Pearson, the Ministry of Education, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the Department of Education and Knowledge, the Sharjah Private Education Authority or the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It holds no such relationship, claims none, operates no premises in the UAE, and has no arrangement with any school named on this page. Every rate quoted belongs to the provider that published it, and ours arrives after a trial lesson rather than before one.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Communities in this catchment, noted for the thing that affects a tutoring quote: how much travel an in-home tutor would be pricing in, and when a child is realistically at a desk.

Arabian Ranches 1, 2 and 3

Villa communities adjacent to the school, with the shortest journey in this catchment. An in-home premium here buys the least travel of anywhere on this list, which is also the fairest place to compare the two formats on merit.

Mudon and Remraam

Further along the Dubailand corridor with a longer afternoon run. An in-home quote to these communities carries real travel time, and the published band's upper half is where such quotes tend to sit.

Dubai Hills Estate

A short drive on the Al Khail side with a heavy afternoon peak. Teaching sessions settle around 17:30 and anything written or timed works better on a weekend morning.

Motor City and Sports City

Established family communities where two school runs are common, pushing the household's earliest usable hour past 17:00. That compresses the evening and makes session reliability worth more than session length.

Damac Hills and Jumeirah Golf Estates

Villa communities on the outer ring with journeys that vary widely by day. The practical argument for a fixed online slot is strongest here, because an arrival time cannot be relied on week to week.

Jumeirah Village Circle and Triangle

Dense apartment communities with heavy peak queuing and a large school-age population. The usable session window is narrow, which rewards a protected slot rather than a flexible arrangement.

Al Barsha South and Arjan

Mid-ring communities reached on the same corridors, with reliable rather than fast journeys. Teaching sessions from 17:00 are workable and timed papers belong at the weekend.

Dubai Marina and JLT

A long peak commute for students attending schools in this catchment, realistically available from 18:00 on a weekday. Shorter recall-based sessions midweek suit the constraint better than full-length ones.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

  • Fairgreen International School
  • GEMS Metropole School

Dubai Hills, Motor City and the Al Khail ring

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Fix the annual tutoring line before choosing a provider

Decide what the household can spend across the year, then choose the arrangement that fits. Families who pick a provider first and discover the annual figure in March make worse decisions than those who commit to the mid-range monthly band on one subject for a year.

  2. 02

Engage in the autumn on last year's evidence

The spring premium is scarcity, not quality. The same specialist booked in the autumn of Year 10 or the first Diploma year costs less per month, is actually available, and has four times as long to work in. One decision made once removes the largest avoidable cost in this market.

  3. 03

Send the subject, level or tier, and the syllabus code

Level and subject scarcity are two of the drivers that move a quote, and the syllabus code determines the papers. Cambridge sciences carry a twenty per cent practical component; Pearson Edexcel sciences have no separate practical exam. Guessing costs the first two sessions.

  4. 04

Take the trial lesson before discussing money

One lesson with the matched tutor, with you able to listen in. If the explanation does not land with your child the price is irrelevant. If it does, the quote can be judged against the market bands published on this page rather than against nothing at all.

  5. 05

Ask the five price questions in writing

VAT inclusion. Per hour or per session and the session length. Cancellation after a month. Who marks work between sessions and whether that is inside the rate. What happens if the tutor becomes unavailable. Answers in writing are the whole point of asking.

  6. 06

Insist on a diagnostic before buying a block

A timed paper marked against the official scheme with losses attributed to six causes. A short specific list makes a concentrated spend rational; a long diffuse one tells you to spread the work over a longer period instead, which is a cheaper and more honest plan.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

A published band, with sources attached

Three of six ranking pages in this market publish no price and two quote in dollars. Every figure here is a market rate read in October 2026, attributed to the provider model that published it, so an Arabian Ranches parent has a reference range rather than a conversation with no anchor.

The hour itemised

Contact time, marking, planning against the school's scheme, written reporting, the diagnostic, and the handover if a tutor becomes unavailable. Two providers at the same nominal rate can be selling very different things, and nobody in this market breaks it down.

The travel premium priced by community

Short from Arabian Ranches itself, substantial from Mudon, Damac Hills or the Marina at peak. Drift is the cost nobody quotes: a session starting twenty minutes late and ending on time has lost the part where next week's work gets set.

The seasonal surge named

Exam-year specialist support is the highest published band in the country, and much of the spring premium is scarcity rather than quality. Engaging in the autumn buys the same person for less, with four times as long to work in.

Dubai context rather than generic context

227 private schools, 387,441 students, seventeen curricula, no fee increase for 2026-27 confirmed in May 2026, and seven new schools adding 16,846 places. Depth of supply is why Dubai rates sit below thin-market emirates, and it is a real planning fact.

Nothing asserted that cannot be sourced

No VAT treatment, because that needs a Federal Tax Authority citation. No fine amount, because none was published. No equivalency points threshold, no star rating, no satisfaction percentage. The absences on a money page are the most informative part of it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What does an IB tutor cost for a JESS Arabian Ranches family?+

Published market rates read in October 2026 put a qualified online subject tutor at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, a named IB specialist at roughly AED 200 to 450 or more, in-home visits including travel at roughly AED 180 to 500, and budget platforms between AED 45 and 150. One provider publishes AED 650 at the premium end. Those belong to the providers who published them and are not IB Gram prices; ours follows a free trial lesson and depends on subject, level and frequency.

Why are Dubai tutoring rates lower than in the smaller emirates for Higher Level subjects?+

Depth of supply. Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen curricula in 2024-25, and a sector that size employs a great many subject teachers. Scarcity premiums for Higher Level sciences and mathematics are therefore rarer here than in Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain, where the number of people who have taught a given course recently can be close to zero. The expansion continues: seven new schools for 2026-27 add 16,846 places.

Is a monthly package better value than paying hourly?+

It depends entirely on what a session is, so convert the package to a cost per contact hour first. Advertised packages in this market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and roughly AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. The second buys eight hours of contact; the first buys eight sessions of unstated length. Ask how long a session runs before comparing either figure against an hourly rate.

What is actually included in an hourly tutoring rate?+

It varies far more than families expect. Contact teaching time always; marking of work between sessions sometimes; planning against the school's scheme of work rarely stated; written reporting to the parent rarely included; and a handover if the tutor becomes unavailable almost never mentioned. Marking is the element that matters most, because a properly annotated script is a document you can compare with next month's, while a verbal correction in the room leaves nothing behind.

Does the in-home premium make sense from Arabian Ranches?+

It is the fairest place in this catchment to compare the formats, because the journey to the school's immediate area is short, so the premium is mostly genuine convenience rather than travel. From Mudon, Damac Hills, Jumeirah Golf Estates or the Marina at peak, a large share of the rate is a car on a busy corridor. The cost nobody quotes is drift: a session starting twenty minutes late and ending on time loses the end, where next week's work is set.

Should an Arabian Ranches parent ask whether a tutoring quote is VAT inclusive?+

Ask whoever is quoting, in writing, and require the answer before paying. This page deliberately states nothing about the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees, because doing so responsibly requires a Federal Tax Authority citation and there is none on offer here. Making the inclusive or exclusive position explicit in the quote is something a parent can always insist on, and it belongs alongside session length, cancellation terms and whether marking time is inside the rate.

How do I avoid the exam-season price surge in Dubai?+

Engage in the autumn rather than the spring. Published monthly estimates for specialist exam-year support run from roughly AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more, the highest band for any tutoring in the country, and much of that premium is scarcity in February when every family in the Gulf wants the same Higher Level specialists. The same person booked a year earlier costs less per month, is available, and has four times as long to work in.

How much should I budget monthly for one Diploma subject?+

Published monthly estimates for a single weekly one-hour session put budget options at roughly AED 240 to 600, a mid-range qualified tutor at roughly AED 600 to 1,200, and specialist exam-year support at roughly AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more. The mid-range band across the first Diploma year is the lowest cost per grade gained, because the work is developmental rather than repair. Set that line in the household budget before choosing a provider.

Is two subjects at once good value for a Year 11 student?+

Rarely as a starting point. Two subjects at two sessions a week is four sessions plus four sets of homework on top of a Dubai school week that already includes Arabic, Islamic Education and social or moral studies alongside the licensed curriculum. The usual outcome is two half-improvements at double the cost of one completed one. Sequencing works better: the subject whose diagnostic shows the shortest loss list first, banked, then the hours move.

What is the cheapest genuinely useful purchase for a Diploma student?+

A defined block of four to six sessions on one named component with a published weighting: the internal assessment plan, the Individual Oral at thirty per cent, the pre-released business case, or Paper 3 at Higher Level mathematics. Priced as a block rather than monthly, with a visible finish. Many families would do better with two of those a year than with an open-ended weekly arrangement nobody re-examines after the first term.

Does the Dubai school fee freeze affect what I should spend on tutoring?+

Indirectly, by making the year easier to plan. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private-school fees in the emirate would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under an incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. A flat fee line makes the discretionary lines easier to budget and harder to justify loosely, which argues for setting the annual tutoring figure deliberately rather than by accumulation.

Should I change tutors if I find a cheaper rate?+

Only if the evidence says the current arrangement is not working. In a city with 227 private schools and a large tutoring sector there is always somebody cheaper and always somebody more expensive, and each change costs a diagnostic, a relationship and usually a month of progress. Changing because the written risk list shows three items unchanged after two months is rational. Changing because a lower figure appeared generally is not.

What does the UAE tutoring permit cost, and does it affect price?+

It costs nothing, so it should not affect any quote. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's own service with a stated two working days to complete. Because it is free and fast there is no reasonable explanation for a tutor working in the UAE not to hold one. Individuals tutoring without one face fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

Why does this page not publish IB Gram's own rate?+

Because a single number would mislead. What we charge depends on the subject, the level, how often you meet and whether the engagement is a defined block or an open commitment, and those produce genuinely different figures. Publishing one rate would mean either overstating the cost of a simple arrangement or understating a complex one. The market bands here give you a reference range, the trial lesson is free, and the quote follows it rather than preceding it.

Set the number, then ask the five questions

For a family in this catchment the sequence matters more than the provider. Decide the annual tutoring line first. Engage in the autumn on last year's evidence rather than in the spring on panic. Send the subject, level and syllabus code. Take the free trial lesson and judge the explanation rather than the enthusiasm. Then ask, in writing, whether the figure includes VAT, whether it is per hour or per session, what happens if you stop after a month, who marks work between sessions, and what happens if the tutor becomes unavailable. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.
