IGCSE Home Tutor in Al Zorah

A parent searching for an IGCSE home tutor in Al Zorah is asking a reasonable question with an awkward answer. This is a new, low-density coastal development in Ajman, with few residents, no school inside it and essentially no local tutoring market - so the honest reply is that nobody nearby has taught your child's syllabus. This page explains how to verify syllabus knowledge wherever a tutor lives, and why we teach one-to-one over live video instead.

  • Matched to the syllabus code, not to a map radius
  • Tutor's taught courses stated before you book anything
  • Free trial lesson, with a script marked beforehand
  • One-to-one over live video; no UAE home visits

IB & IGCSE in Al Zorah

The honest answer first

Al Zorah is a new development on Ajman's coast: low density, still filling in, built around a marina, a golf course and villa and apartment plots. It is a pleasant place to live and an extremely thin place to find a tutor. There is no school inside the development, the resident population is small, and the informal network that produces tutoring recommendations in an older district has not had time to exist.

So the honest answer to 'is there an IGCSE tutor near me' is that the nearest ones are in Ajman's older districts or across the boundary in Sharjah, that almost all of them are generalists, and that the chance of one of them having taught your child's specific syllabus to grade standard is close to zero. That is not a criticism of anybody; it is a consequence of population density and of how specialist teaching experience accumulates.

It is worth separating two different needs at this point, because they have different answers. If your child is young and needs an adult sitting beside them to keep them on task, presence is what you are buying and a local arrangement - even a general one - is the right choice. We do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE, so we are not the provider for that.

If your child is in Year 10 or 11 and losing marks on Cambridge 0620 Paper 4 or Pearson 4MA1, presence is not the problem. What is needed is somebody who has taught that paper, marked it against the published scheme, and can say in one session which three things are costing marks. Those people exist in quantity; none of them lives in Al Zorah, and over live video that does not matter.

The rest of this page is therefore about verification rather than geography: how to read a tutor's claims, what questions reveal course experience in two minutes, how to identify which board your child is on in a district where schools run several curricula, what the realistic options are when nobody local fits, and what the market charges so that any quote can be judged.

It also covers cost, because a family with no local market has nothing to compare a quote against. The bands quoted later come from published UAE rate cards and from a Dubai tutoring cost survey read in October 2026, and they are the market's figures rather than ours - published so that any quote, including ours, can be measured against something checkable.

Delivery here, as on all our UAE pages, is one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around the school run - which from this development is a real journey in its own right.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three British-track stages run through the schools Al Zorah children attend elsewhere in Ajman and Sharjah. Each raises a different verification question.

LSECAges 11-14

Years 7 to 9, pre-IGCSE

No external papers, so syllabus knowledge matters less than diagnostic skill: can the tutor look at a piece of work and name the underlying weakness rather than simply correcting it? Algebraic fluency, unit handling and writing that answers the question asked are the three worth fixing here.

For a family in a new development the practical constraint at this stage is the school run rather than the teaching. A younger child home by half past three can take an early slot, which is the easiest session in the household to protect - so protect it first.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Terminal written papers, tiered into Core and Extended in most subjects, with Core capping the grade. Here syllabus knowledge is decisive: a tutor should be able to name the papers, what each is worth, the Extended-only content and the three topics where candidates lose most marks, unprompted.

Entries run through the school's own centre, and each Cambridge centre belongs to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version. Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong zone timetable, so the exams officer's copy is the one that counts.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The other route, with its own codes - 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1, 4BI1 - its own paper structures and a different question style. Maths uses two equally weighted papers rather than Cambridge's tiered pattern, so a tutor fluent in one board will mislead an Edexcel student about pacing and phrasing.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The November final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026; June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the next day, and the November 2025 series results reached students on 22 January 2026.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

What 'knowing the syllabus' sounds like in each subject. Use these as the questions you put to any tutor - the answers are audible even without subject knowledge of your own.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

A specialist names the paper structure, what the Extended tier adds, and the recurring losses: bounds, rearrangement under time pressure, multi-step problems abandoned early. A generalist says the content resembles other curricula, which is true and useless.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended · Single tier at Edexcel

Ask about the alternative-to-practical paper. Somebody who has taught 0625 raises it unprompted and describes what it wants - named instruments, variables, repeats, sources of error. Somebody who has not talks about experiments in general.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Ask what the mark scheme wants when a question asks what you would see. The right answer is the observation itself, not the conclusion. A tutor who has marked these papers answers instantly; one who has not finds the question strange.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

The giveaway is command words. A specialist distinguishes describe, explain and suggest, and can say what each earns on a long-answer question. A generalist treats them as interchangeable - which is exactly the habit their students will carry into the exam.

Mathematics for curriculum crossovers

Years 9-11 bridging

Ajman has a large Indian-curriculum school population. Students entering IGCSE papers from that background meet different phrasing and stricter expectations about showing method, which is examination behaviour rather than mathematics.

First Language English (0500)

Single tier

Ask how they would raise a directed-writing mark. The answer should involve timed writing annotated against the mark scheme and a discussion of register. If it is about reading more books, the hours will be pleasant and the marks will not move.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0511)

With or without speaking endorsement

A specialist names the exercises - note-making, summary with a word limit, register shift - and knows whether the entry carries the speaking endorsement. That last detail is frequently missed and changes what needs rehearsing.

Business Studies and Economics (0450 / 0455)

Single tier

Case-study papers reward define, apply to the case, evaluate with a judgement. Ask how marks are lost: the right answer is writing everything known about a concept instead of applying it to the organisation in the question.

Computer Science (0478)

Single tier

Pseudocode conventions and trace tables cost more marks than programming ability, so a professional developer who has not taught this syllabus will teach the wrong thing competently. One of the hardest subjects to staff locally anywhere in the northern emirates.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of working that suit a family in a new, low-density development. All are one-to-one over live video and all begin with a free trial lesson.

Code-matched weekly teaching

A fixed slot with a tutor who has taught the exact board, code and tier, working from the syllabus document the school issues and that board's past papers. Their course experience is stated before you book rather than implied afterwards.

  • Taught courses listed before booking
  • Practice from the correct board only
  • Written target list for the next six sessions

Verification trial

A free trial designed as a test rather than a sales call. Send a marked mock; the tutor re-marks it against the published scheme beforehand and opens the lesson by naming what the script shows. You keep the annotated paper whether or not you continue.

  • Script read before the lesson
  • Diagnosis in the first ten minutes
  • No payment and no card details

Arrival-time scheduling

From a development with no local school, the school run is long and variable. We set the slot from your child's actual arrival time plus thirty minutes, and a late bus moves the session rather than cancelling it, because nobody is driving to the coast.

  • Slot set from the real arrival time
  • Moves by twenty minutes for a late bus
  • Siblings sequenced by who gets home first

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Zorah

01

Why a new development has no tutoring market

  • Tutoring markets form around schools and established density
  • No school and a new population means neither input exists yet
  • The nearest names will be generalists, through no fault of their own
  • Changing the filter from distance to course changes the answer entirely

It is worth explaining the mechanism, because it is not obvious and it affects how a family should search. Tutoring markets form around schools and around established residential density. Teachers live near the schools that employ them. Independent tutors build a client base by word of mouth within a neighbourhood. Both processes take years.

Al Zorah has neither input yet. No school inside the development means no resident teaching population. A small and recently arrived resident population means no word-of-mouth network - and the parents who would normally supply recommendations are themselves new and asking the same question. So a distance-sorted search returns either nothing or a handful of names from Ajman's older districts who are willing to make the drive.

Those names are not bad tutors. They are, however, almost certainly generalists, because that is what the broader northern-emirates market mostly consists of: capable people who teach several subjects across several year groups. The population of adults who have taught one specific syllabus code to grade standard for years is small everywhere and concentrated nowhere near a new coastal development.

The useful conclusion is not to search harder locally but to change the filter. If the examination is national - and it is - then the right question is who has taught the paper, not who can reach the house. Over live video the answer to that question is a real choice rather than a short list, and nothing in the rate pays for a journey across Ajman.

02

Reading a tutor's claims

Because a family here is choosing from listings rather than from reputation, it helps to know how listings are written. The language is designed to maximise enquiries, which means it is broad where you need it to be specific.

'All subjects, all levels' means a willingness to teach anything, not experience of everything. 'Ten years' experience' may describe ten years of general tutoring, with no particular syllabus taught twice. A degree in the subject proves the subject, not the examination - a chemistry graduate knows more chemistry than 0620 requires and may not know that the mark scheme wants an observation rather than a conclusion. 'Examiner' is a claim rarely evidenced and never transferable to your child's paper.

The replacement questions are short and cannot be answered from a listing. Which board and code is my child entered for, and how do you know? How many papers are there in this subject, and what is each worth? Name the three topics where candidates lose the most marks. What will you do differently in the last six weeks? Will you mark a recent mock before we meet?

A specialist answers the first four in specifics and says yes to the fifth immediately, because the annotated script makes their case better than conversation can. A generalist answers with reassurance about building confidence - which is pleasant, is sometimes exactly what a younger child needs, and is not what a Year 11 candidate is losing marks for.

The claimWhat it may actually meanWhat to ask instead

03

Identifying the board before anything else

In Ajman this step matters more than in most places, because several schools run Indian or mixed curricula and enter particular cohorts or subjects for Cambridge or Pearson papers. Families frequently do not know which board applies, and every later decision depends on it.

The codes resolve it. Cambridge uses four digits: 0580 mathematics, 0620 chemistry, 0625 physics, 0610 biology, 0500 first language English, 0510 English as a second language. Pearson Edexcel codes begin with a 4: 4MA1, 4CH1, 4PH1, 4BI1. Both appear on the statement of entry and in the exam information the school circulates, and the exams officer can confirm board, code and tier in one reply.

Why it matters so much: paper structures differ, question phrasing differs, and preparation differs accordingly. Cambridge tiers most subjects into Core and Extended and its sciences include an alternative-to-practical paper. Pearson's maths sets two equally weighted papers. A student practising the wrong board's past papers for a term is building partly wrong habits, and usually discovers it in a mock rather than from the tutor.

While you are emailing, ask for two more things: the internal deadline for entry changes, which is earlier than the board's and is the one that constrains a tier change, and the mock window. With board, code, tier, deadline and mock dates in hand, you can brief any tutor in a single sentence - and the quality of replies you receive changes immediately.

Keep the reply. In a household that may deal with two schools in two emirates, the email confirming board, code and tier is the document everybody wishes they could find in February, and it takes no effort to file in the first week of term.

04

What to do when nobody local fits

Suppose you have done the verification and concluded, correctly, that nobody within reach has taught your child's course. There are four realistic options and they are not equivalent.

The first is self-study with strict marking, which is free. Papers and mark schemes exist through the school, and a disciplined candidate who completes a paper under timing and marks it honestly learns most of what a tutor teaches about technique. The failure modes are generous self-marking and avoiding the hardest papers, and a parent can partly police both.

The second is local general help for presence and routine, which is cheap and genuinely useful for the job it does. The third is paying a travel premium to bring a generalist out to the development - the least efficient purchase on this list, because it is the most expensive way to buy the cheapest kind of help.

The fourth is matching a specialist nationally and teaching over live video, which is what we do. For most Year 10 and 11 candidates the strongest combination is the first and the fourth: self-study for volume, plus a small number of specialist hours for direction and triage. That costs less than a term of weekly local sessions and reliably achieves more, because the hours are spent on diagnosis rather than on company.

A practical way to decide between the four: write down what you expect to be different in six weeks. If the answer is that homework gets done and the house is calmer, buy presence locally. If it is that the Paper 4 mark improves, buy diagnosis - and accept that the person who can provide it does not live nearby and does not need to.

The school run from a development with no school

  • Ajman school: often home 15:30-16:00, so 16:30 works
  • Sharjah school: home 16:00-16:30, so 17:00 is realistic
  • Add thirty minutes after arrival before the session starts
  • If the sum is too late, move depth to a weekend morning
  • No tutor journey means no drift and no traffic cancellations

Verification settles who should teach; the school run settles when. From Al Zorah every family commutes, and the journey is the number a tutoring plan has to be built on.

A child at a school in Ajman's older districts may be home between half past three and four. A child crossing into Sharjah is more likely home between four and half past, and one attending a Dubai school from this address could be later still. Those are the inputs. The published school finish time is not: dismissal, loading, a bus route serving several communities and afternoon traffic between them add up to more than most families expect.

The rule we apply is simple. Take the real arrival time, add thirty minutes for food and decompression, and place the session there. If that lands at six, the session is at six. If it lands too late to be useful, the honest conclusion is one shorter weekday session plus a longer weekend morning, rather than two weekday sessions that both underperform.

This is also where an in-home arrangement decays fastest. A tutor driving out to the coast is travelling in the same traffic, after their own working day, to a low-density address that is not on the way to anything. Start times drift, sessions get trimmed because another family is waiting, and the evenings when something goes wrong on the road are the evenings the lesson is cancelled. Online, a late bus moves the session by twenty minutes and nothing else changes.

06

What it costs, and the premium to avoid

Prices in this market are rarely published, so a family in a new development has very little to compare against. The bands below come from published UAE rate cards and from Bestimate's Dubai tutoring cost table, read in October 2026. They are market figures rather than our price list.

Budget online tutoring, usually delivered by university students, advertises from about AED 45 an hour. A qualified subject tutor teaching online runs roughly AED 150 to 300. An in-home visit is quoted between AED 180 and 500 once travel is absorbed. An IGCSE or A Level specialist sits at AED 200 to 450 and above, and named or examiner-branded tutoring reaches AED 500 to 650 or more. Published packages include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

The premium to avoid from this address is the travel one, and here it is larger than usual. A tutor driving from Ajman's older districts or from Sharjah to a low-density coastal development is pricing a journey that benefits nobody academically, and the destination is far enough that the quote sits high in the in-home band. The money buys fuel and time, not knowledge of a mark scheme.

The other premium to treat sceptically is the brand one. Examiner status is seldom evidenced, cannot be relied on to be current, and gives no access to marking, boundaries or paper content - the mark scheme a good tutor works from is published. If a tutor at the middle of the qualified band can name the three things costing your child marks from one script, the additional several hundred dirhams an hour is buying something other than that diagnosis.

Permits, regulators and the questions nobody asks

Two administrative checks are worth making whoever you hire, and both are quick.

The permit. Private tutoring in the UAE requires a work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service handles applications in about two working days. Those tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published - so ignore any figure quoted at you.

The conflict. Do not arrange paid tutoring with somebody who teaches and marks your child at school. Abu Dhabi's regulator has published professional-ethics rules barring private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit carries a code of conduct pointing the same way. Beyond any rule, the person marking your child's work should not be on your payroll.

On regulators, for completeness: Ajman's private schools are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education, Sharjah's are regulated by the Sharjah Private Education Authority - which also approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses and assessment methods - Dubai's by KHDA and Abu Dhabi's by ADEK. For clarity about us: IB Gram holds no approval, licence or accreditation from any of them, and has no office, centre or branch in this country.

08

What we will and will not do

  • One-to-one over live video, matched by board, code and tier
  • No UAE home visits and no UAE premises
  • No grade guarantees and no completed coursework
  • No distributed board material and no claimed regulator approval

A page that opens with an awkward answer should close with a precise one, so here is the scope of what we offer and what we decline.

We teach: one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, matched on board, syllabus code and tier, working from the syllabus document your school issues and that board's past papers, marked against the published mark scheme with errors logged by question type. We write down the next six sessions' targets and review on timed scores rather than attendance.

We do not send tutors to UAE addresses - home visits are a service IB Gram runs only in India - and we have no premises here. We do not guarantee grades, because nobody can know what a particular candidate will score. We do not write, draft or edit assessed coursework, and we do not sell completed work: services that do appear in these search results at prices in the thousands of dirhams, and the malpractice finding attaches to the student rather than the seller.

We also do not distribute boards' syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes - the school is the proper route to current versions - and we claim no approval from any regulator or board. If what your family actually needs is an adult in the room with a younger child, a local arrangement is the better answer and we would rather say so than take the booking.

And where no specialist is free in your subject at a workable hour, we will offer another hour or a named date rather than a substitute. From an address with no local fallback, a generalist put into a dated block costs the whole window, so a clear no is the more useful answer.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Zorah

Where the nearest tutoring supply actually sits, and what each location realistically offers an Al Zorah family.

Al Nuaimiya

One of Ajman's older, denser districts and the nearest meaningful concentration of tutors. General supply rather than course-specific depth, at the lowest rates in this comparison.

Al Rashidiya, Ajman

Adjacent to Al Nuaimiya and sharing the same pool. Short journeys to much of Ajman, and a long enough drive out to the coastal development to be priced into an in-home quote.

Al Jurf

Towards the institutional edge of the emirate, with schools nearby. Supply overlaps with the older districts, so the difference between quotes is mostly the journey.

Al Rawda

Residential and spread out, with many families using Sharjah schools. A reminder that in Ajman the school run frequently crosses an emirate boundary.

Al Nahda, Sharjah

Across the boundary, with a deeper tutoring market and families commuting to Dubai schools. Rates quoted from there assume a Sharjah journey, not a drive to the Ajman coast.

Al Qasimia and Al Majaz, Sharjah

Sharjah's established tutoring districts, with the deepest mid-market supply in the northern emirates and the longest in-home journey to this development.

Dubai

The deepest market in the country - 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen curricula in 2024-25 - and the most expensive in-home option by a wide margin. Online, the cheapest way to reach a specialist.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Zorah

Schools Al Zorah families use in Ajman

There is no school inside the development, so every family here commutes. Ajman's private schools are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education, and several run Indian or mixed curricula with British-board entries for some cohorts - which makes identifying the board the first task for any candidate.

  • Ajman Academy
  • Habitat School Ajman
  • Ibn Seena English High School
  • Al Ameer English School

Schools across the Sharjah boundary

A significant number of Ajman families school their children in Sharjah, under SPEA's framework and a different term calendar. The journey is longer, which pushes the earliest workable session time later into the evening.

  • Delhi Private School Sharjah
  • Our Own English High School, Sharjah
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Wesgreen International School

Schools are named only as context for the local school ecosystem; no affiliation, endorsement or partnership is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the board, code and tier

One email to the exams officer produces all three, plus the internal entry-change deadline and the mock window. In a district where schools run several curricula, this is the step that makes everything afterwards accurate.

  2. 02

Send a marked script and the arrival time

The script lets the matched tutor diagnose before anybody meets - and it is also your verification, because a tutor who engages with it in specifics has taught the paper. The arrival time sets the slot, which from this development is the other half of the problem.

  3. 03

Free trial with the assigned tutor

A full one-to-one lesson over live video, no payment and no card details, taught by the person who would teach the term. The script is read beforehand, and the annotated paper plus a written view of what the remaining weeks can change is yours either way.

  4. 04

Fixed slot, written plan, review at six

An hour in Gulf Standard Time set from the real arrival time, a target list for the next six sessions, and a review on timed scores. If the fit is wrong we change the tutor and carry the plan across rather than restarting.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The honest answer about local supply

A new, low-density development has no tutoring market yet, because markets form around schools and established density. Saying that plainly is more useful than implying we have somebody around the corner - nobody does, including us.

Course experience stated, not implied

Tutors are listed against the courses they have actually taught rather than against 'all subjects, all levels'. Ask what they have taught and you get a list, which is the only credential in this work that predicts anything.

The script does the verifying

A marked paper read before the first meeting proves more than any certificate, and it means the first paid hour is teaching rather than diagnosis - the point at which this market quietly loses families money.

No journey inside the rate

Lessons are one-to-one over live video, so the whole fee buys teaching. An in-home visit to this address sits at the top of the published AED 180 to 500 band, and the difference is fuel and time rather than expertise.

Slots built from arrival times

From a development with no school, the commute is long and variable. We set the session from the real arrival time plus thirty minutes, and a late bus moves it rather than cancelling it, because nobody is driving to the coast.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Zorah: your questions answered

Are there any IGCSE tutors actually living in Al Zorah?+

Very few, and almost certainly none who has taught your child's specific syllabus to grade standard. Tutoring markets form around schools and established residential density, and this development has no school inside it and a small, recently arrived population. The nearest supply is in Ajman's older districts and across the Sharjah boundary, and it is general rather than course-specific. That is a density fact rather than a judgement about anybody, and it is why we match nationally and teach over live video.

How do I check whether a tutor really knows my child's syllabus?+

Ask four questions and make one request. Which board and code is my child entered for, and how do you know? How many papers are there, and what is each worth? Name the three topics where candidates lose the most marks. What changes in the last six weeks? Then ask them to mark a recent mock before you meet. Specialists answer the questions in specifics and say yes to the request immediately, because the annotated script argues their case better than conversation does.

Is it worth paying extra for a tutor willing to drive out here?+

Only if presence is what you are buying - a younger child who needs an adult beside them to stay on task. For a Year 10 or 11 candidate the premium buys fuel and time rather than knowledge of a mark scheme, and from this address it sits at the top of the published in-home band of AED 180 to 500 an hour, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online. We do not offer UAE home visits in any case, so for that need a local arrangement is better.

What does 'all subjects, all levels' on a listing actually mean?+

Willingness rather than experience. The phrase maximises enquiries, which is why it is used, and it tells you nothing about whether the person has taught Cambridge 0620 Extended or Pearson 4MA1 Higher. The same applies to years of experience, which may describe general tutoring, and to a degree in the subject, which proves subject knowledge rather than examination knowledge. Replace all of it with one question: which board and code have you taught, and how recently?

How do we find out which exam board our school uses?+

Look for the code on the statement of entry or in the exam information the school circulates. Cambridge uses four digits - 0580, 0620, 0625, 0610, 0500 - and Pearson Edexcel codes begin with a 4: 4MA1, 4CH1, 4PH1, 4BI1. The exams officer can confirm board, code and tier in one reply. This matters particularly in Ajman, where several schools run Indian or mixed curricula and enter particular cohorts for British-board papers in specific subjects.

Can a disciplined student here prepare largely without a tutor?+

A long way, yes. Past papers and mark schemes are available through the school, and a candidate who completes a paper under timing and marks it strictly against the scheme learns most of what a tutor teaches about technique. The two failure modes are generous self-marking and avoiding the papers that feel hardest. For most Year 11 candidates the strongest combination is self-study for volume plus a small number of specialist hours for diagnosis and triage.

What time can a session realistically start from this development?+

Take your child's actual arrival time and add thirty minutes. From a school in Ajman's older districts, home between half past three and four is typical, so half past four works. Crossing into Sharjah, home between four and half past makes five realistic. The published school finish time is not a useful input - dismissal, loading, a bus route serving several communities and afternoon traffic add up. One week of noting when your child walks in gives you the number.

Who supervises private schools in Ajman?+

The federal Ministry of Education plays the supervisory role for private schools in Ajman, along with Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Sharjah's are regulated by the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which also approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses and assessment methods; Dubai's fall under KHDA and Abu Dhabi's under ADEK. If your children attend school in two emirates you are reading two sets of published information. IB Gram holds no approval or accreditation from any of these bodies.

Does a tutor need a permit, and can I ask about it?+

Yes to both. The private tutor work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own licensing service handles applications in about two working days. Since holding it costs nothing, a working tutor has no practical reason to be without one.

Which series will my child sit, and is a resit possible?+

Cambridge runs June and November series, and UAE candidates sit those two; the February/March series is offered in India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November, and results from a November series reach students in January - the November 2025 cohort received theirs on 22 January 2026. A resit is a real option provided the receiving institution accepts a January result and the entry route is confirmed with the school or a registered centre first.

Should we worry that our child is at an Indian-curriculum school sitting IGCSE papers?+

Not worry, but do plan for it. The subject overlap is substantial; what differs is examination behaviour - question phrasing, the expectation that method is shown, and command terms treated as precise instructions rather than general invitations to write. A capable student can lose marks for reasons unrelated to knowledge. Two to four board-specific sessions working through the correct board's past papers, marked against the published scheme, usually close that gap faster than more content teaching.

Are the rates on this page what you charge?+

No. They are market bands from published UAE rate cards and from Bestimate's Dubai tutoring cost table, read in October 2026, published so you can judge any quote - including ours - against something checkable. Three of the six best-ranked pages in our competitor research publish no price at all, and two of the rest quote in US dollars, which UAE families do not transact in. Ask us directly for our figure, and begin with the free trial lesson, which costs nothing.

Where a subject carries coursework, how far can a tutor go?+

With the teaching and the feedback, yes; with the writing, no. A tutor may explain what the task requires, question a plan, teach the skill involved and explain why a paragraph does not answer the question asked. A tutor may not write, redraft or edit any part of the submitted work, and IB Gram does not supply completed coursework. Services selling finished assessments appear in these search results at prices in the thousands of dirhams, and the consequence falls on the student rather than the seller.

What happens if nobody has taught our exact course at the hour we need?+

We tell you, and we offer a different hour with the right specialist or a named date when one frees up. Narrow requests - Additional Mathematics, computer science 0478, a specific board's business paper in the weeks before a series - sometimes have nobody available. What we will not do is put a generalist into the slot and leave you to discover the mismatch over six weeks, because from an address with no local fallback that substitution costs the whole term.

Nobody is nearby. That is not the problem it looks like

A new coastal development has no tutoring market yet, and no amount of searching changes that. What does change the outcome is the board, syllabus code and tier from your child's statement of entry, plus a recent marked script and the time your child is actually home. Send those three things and we will re-mark the script against the published scheme, match a tutor who has taught that exact course, and run a free trial lesson over live video at no cost - with no journey priced into anything.
