IGCSE Home Tutor in Al Yasmeen

Most families searching for an IGCSE home tutor in Al Yasmeen have already decided they need help and are now deciding what to spend. This page is the money page. It covers the cheapest decision available in Year 10, how to work out which subject buys the most marks per paid hour, the AED bands providers in this market actually publish, and the point at which a household should stop paying. Lessons run one-to-one over live video, never as a visit to a villa in Ajman.

IB & IGCSE in Al Yasmeen

The expensive decisions are made before anyone is hired

Al Yasmeen is a villa district inland from the Ajman coast, with wide plots, settled households and a school run that mostly stays inside the emirate. Two features of that make it a distinctive place to buy tuition. There is usually a spare room, so a student has somewhere quiet to work. And the afternoon is short rather than swallowed by a drive back from Sharjah, which means the cheaper early-evening slots are genuinely available to families here.

Before any of that matters, though, two decisions have already set most of the eventual bill, and neither involves a tutor. The first is the tier: Cambridge Core caps the available grade at C, and a family that accepts a Core entry for comfort in Year 10 and then wants an A Level route in that subject pays for a rushed conversion or an extra year. The second is the start date. The same grade movement bought in October costs roughly half what it costs in March, because the work has to be done either way and compression means more sessions at scarcer, dearer availability.

Only after those come the questions families usually ask first. Which tutor, at what hourly rate, for how many subjects. Those matter, but they are smaller levers. A household can save AED 30 an hour by negotiating and lose three times that by hiring in February for a subject where whole topics are missing.

What this page does is show the arithmetic. It costs a full Year 10 to Year 11 plan rather than an hour. It ranks subjects by how many marks a paid hour tends to recover, because that is the real return calculation. It publishes the AED bands providers in this market print, with the month they were read, since three of six pages examined in this market publish no price at all. And it says plainly when to stop, which almost nobody in this business writes down.

A point on delivery before the numbers, because it changes the arithmetic. IB Gram has no office, centre or branch in the UAE and sends no tutor to any UAE address. Home visits are a service offered in India only. For a family in Al Yasmeen that removes the travel component from the price entirely: an in-home hour in this market is quoted between AED 180 and AED 500 and part of that pays for a car on the Ajman ring road rather than for teaching.

Read it with a recent marked paper next to you. The single most useful cost control available to a household is looking at where marks were actually lost before deciding how many hours to buy, and that costs nothing at all.

At a glance

  • A Core entry caps the grade at C, whatever the exam-day performance
  • Starting a term earlier roughly halves the hours a grade movement needs
  • One session a week is four a month; compare monthly totals, never hourly rates
  • Subjects differ in how many marks an hour recovers, so spend where the pattern says
  • No AED figure on this page is an IB Gram price; ours follows the free trial
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Al Yasmeen families run several British-track routes across siblings. These are the stages where money is spent, with what each one implies for the total.

Lower SecAges 11-14 - Years 7-9

Cambridge Lower Secondary

The three years where the tier decision is quietly made. Checkpoint tests run in March, May and October and give the school a benchmark rather than a certificate. Support here is the cheapest in the whole British track and the stage families most often skip.

The economics are stark. A single weekly session in Year 9 that keeps a student eligible for the Extended tier costs a fraction of the catch-up block a Core-entered Year 11 student needs when the family realises the grade is capped at C. Earlier slots are easier to book in Al Yasmeen because the school run stays inside Ajman.

IGCSEAges 14-16 - Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Two years, graded 9-1 or A*-G, with Core and Extended tiers in most subjects. Core is capped at C. Extended is where almost all the paid tuition in this market goes, and the papers reward mark-scheme literacy as much as content knowledge.

Rates for IGCSE support sit below Diploma rates across this market: Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 an hour against IB from AED 200. Within IGCSE, the separate sciences and Extended maths price higher than Business or Economics, because the specialist pool is smaller and the content load is heavier.

Int GCSEAges 14-16 - Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The other board in use around Ajman and Sharjah, with codes such as 4MA1 for Mathematics A, 4PH1 for Physics and 4EA1 for English Language A. Calculator rules and paper structures differ from Cambridge, so a tutor matched to the wrong board wastes hours on the wrong habits.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. The November route is a genuine budget option: a resit in one subject costs far less than a repeated year.

AS/AAges 16-18 - Years 12-13

AS and A Level

Where the IGCSE grade becomes an entry requirement. Most schools set a threshold, often a 6 or 7 in maths and the sciences, for A Level entry in that subject, which is why a Year 10 tier decision reappears as a cost two years later.

The Ministry of Education equivalency rule for this track names five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the five, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Protecting five solid passes is a cheaper plan than repairing four.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The notes below are written for a budgeting decision: what each subject costs in hours and how recoverable its lost marks tend to be.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580)

Core and Extended

High volume, so competitively priced, but slow to move when whole topics are missing. Extended requires fluency without a calculator, and rebuilding that takes weeks rather than sessions. Budget a term, not a fortnight.

Mathematics A (Pearson 4MA1)

Foundation and Higher

A calculator is permitted in both papers, which shifts the work towards method and structure. Marks lost to rounding when an exact answer is required are among the cheapest to recover in any subject.

Physics (Cambridge 0625)

Core and Extended

Priced at the upper end of IGCSE support because the tutor pool is thinner. The alternative-to-practical paper is the best value target: apparatus reasoning, graph work and error sources respond quickly to focused hours.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620)

Core and Extended

Mole calculations are a contained, teachable block that often moves a grade on its own. Organic chemistry takes longer. A tutor who starts with the calculations is spending your money in the right order.

Biology (Cambridge 0610)

Core and Extended

Large content load but a wider tutor pool, so mid-band pricing. Most recoverable marks sit in data-response questions and in precision of wording, both of which respond to marking practice rather than reteaching.

Business Studies (0450)

Single tier

The best return per paid hour in this list. Evaluation and application marks are learnable in a short block, and a four to six session campaign targeted at case-study technique frequently moves a grade.

Economics (0455)

Single tier

Diagram accuracy earns marks before a word of analysis, which makes it another fast-return subject. The data-response structure is a pattern a student can learn in a handful of sessions.

English as a First Language (0500)

Single tier

Two equally weighted papers covering reading and directed writing. The summary question is the single most recoverable component, because students lose marks copying phrasing rather than compressing it.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0511)

Single tier

Steady progress rather than quick gains, so budget across terms. The syllabus variant decides whether speaking is endorsed separately, which determines how much oral practice is worth buying late on.

Computer Science (0478)

Single tier

Binary, hexadecimal and data representation are reliable, cheap marks that students neglect. Programming confidence takes longer and is the part worth starting in Year 10 rather than Year 11.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy hours, each with a different total. All three run over live video with the student's own papers on screen.

A short targeted block

Four to eight hours aimed at one diagnosed problem: case-study evaluation in Business, mole calculations in Chemistry, the summary question in English. The cheapest intervention that reliably moves a grade, and it ends on a stated date rather than rolling into a subscription.

  • Diagnosed from a marked paper before the block is agreed
  • Fixed number of hours with a finish date
  • Reviewed on a second marked paper at the end
  • Can be repeated per subject rather than run across all of them

One weekly hour held across the year

The lowest total cost per grade moved over a full year, because continuity catches a drift in October instead of diagnosing it in April. Four sessions a month at the published mid band is roughly AED 600 to 1,200, and the figure is stable enough to budget.

  • Same weekday and hour every week
  • Works from school-set tasks and marked scripts
  • Short written note to the parent after each session
  • Easiest pattern to protect through a crowded term

Two hours a week for one subject

Doubles the monthly figure and compresses the campaign to a term. Suited to a subject where whole topics are missing and both reteaching and timed practice are needed in the same week. Families run it for eight to twelve weeks, then drop back.

  • One hour content, one hour timed questions
  • Extended only on the evidence of marked work
  • Drops to a single weekly hour once the gap closes
  • Avoids the cost of spreading two hours across three subjects

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Yasmeen

01

The Core entry is the most expensive decision in Year 10

  • Core caps the awarded grade at C regardless of exam performance
  • A Level entry thresholds in maths and the sciences usually sit above that cap
  • The tier can only be changed inside the school's own entry deadline
  • Ask for the tier, the deadline and the evidence needed to move, in Year 10

Cambridge offers Core and Extended tiers in most IGCSE subjects, and the Core route caps the grade available at C. That is not a prediction about performance; it is a ceiling written into the entry. A student who sits Core and answers everything correctly still cannot be awarded above a C in that subject.

The cost appears two years later. Most schools set an entry threshold for A Level in a subject, commonly a 6 or 7 at IGCSE in maths and the sciences, and a Core-capped grade does not reach it. The family then pays for one of three repairs: an intensive conversion to Extended inside the school's own entry deadline, a resit in the November series, or a changed sixth-form plan that closes a university route. Each of those costs more than the support that would have kept the Extended tier open.

Why does a Core entry get made? Usually for sensible-sounding reasons. The student is anxious, the Extended paper looks harder, a teacher recommends the safer option, and nobody states the ceiling plainly to the parent. The decision is reversible only within the school's entry deadlines, which sit months before the exam, so the window closes long before anyone feels the consequence.

The question to ask the head of department in Year 10 is specific: what tier is my child entered for, what is the deadline to change it, and what grade would they need in a school assessment to justify Extended? That conversation is free and it is the highest-value thing on this page.

02

Cost per grade: where an hour buys the most marks

Families usually allocate tuition by anxiety, buying hours in the subject that worries them most. A better allocation is by recoverability: how many marks a paid hour tends to return in that subject, given the pattern of loss on a recent paper. The two rarely point to the same place.

Technique losses are cheap to fix. Marks going missing because a command word was misread, working was not shown, units were omitted or an evaluation lacked a justification respond to a short block of marking practice. Content losses are expensive, because reteaching has to happen before practice helps, and that is measured in weeks. A paper with scattered single marks missing across many questions is a cheap problem; a paper with whole questions abandoned is not.

Subject matters too. Business Studies and Economics respond quickly because evaluation structure and diagram accuracy are learnable patterns. The summary question in English First Language is a contained skill. Extended maths without calculator fluency, and organic chemistry, are slow. That ordering is not about difficulty; it is about how concentrated the recoverable marks are.

One more variable belongs in the calculation: how long the student has. A technique problem can be fixed six weeks before a paper and still show up in the mark. A content gap discovered six weeks out cannot be fully closed, so the spending there should target the highest-yield topics rather than the whole syllabus, and the honest version of that conversation is one a tutor should initiate without being asked.

The table below puts the two dimensions together. Use it with a marked paper in hand, decide which subject gets the first block, and resist buying hours in three subjects at once, which is the most common way a tuition budget disappears without a grade moving anywhere.

WHERE A PAID HOUR RETURNS THE MOST MARKS - IGCSE

03

The three quotes an Al Yasmeen family usually gets

Ask around in a villa district and three kinds of quote come back. A neighbour's recommendation of a university student at the bottom of the market, often informal and cash-based. An agency rate in the middle. And an in-home arrangement with a tutor who will drive over, quoted at a premium that is rarely itemised.

Published figures let you place each one. At the budget end, EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to 65 an hour and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. In the middle, Unitors lists IGCSE tuition from AED 150 an hour and IB from AED 200, while TutorChase quotes AED 270. Bestimate's Dubai cost table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350, with independent home tutors reaching AED 500, and specialist exam-year support at AED 200 to 450 and above. One premium provider publishes AED 650. Monthly packages advertised in this market include around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

The in-home premium deserves a sentence of its own because nobody itemises it. A tutor crossing from Sharjah or central Ajman to a villa in Al Yasmeen spends real time and fuel doing it, and that cost is inside the hourly rate. The student receives the same sixty minutes of teaching. What the premium buys is physical presence, which genuinely matters for a younger or very reluctant child and matters much less for a Year 10 student who already works at a desk.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE at all, so the comparison here is not a sales device. Home visits run in India only. The figures are published because this market hides them: three of six pages examined print no price, and two of those that do quote in US dollars.

What a villa household actually needs to buy

  • A quiet room with a door beats any equipment purchase
  • Headphones and a plain wall behind the screen, nothing more
  • Have a marked script and the school topic list ready for session one
  • Confirm whether a written note after each session is included

The equipment conversation is short and it saves money. A laptop or tablet with a working camera, a pair of headphones, a desk with a wall behind it rather than a corridor, and a stable connection. That is the whole list. Families sometimes buy a graphics tablet or a subscription platform before the first session; neither is necessary, and a tutor who requires one should explain why.

What a villa in Al Yasmeen does provide, which an apartment often does not, is a room with a door. That is worth more to an hour of tuition than any device. A student working at the kitchen table with siblings nearby loses ten minutes of every session to interruption, which at mid-band rates is a meaningful share of what the hour cost.

The second thing worth organising is the paper. Have the most recent marked script, the school's topic list and any mock timetable ready for the first session. A tutor who spends session one diagnosing from real marked work is working on the right problem by session two. A tutor who has nothing to look at starts by reteaching from the beginning, and that is four to six hours spent on content the student already holds.

Finally, agree who talks to whom. A short written note to the parent after each session is standard and costs nothing. A formal monthly report sometimes carries a fee. Ask which you are getting, because a family that reads a note each week catches a stalling plan early, and catching it early is the cheapest correction available.

05

Exam entry, resits and the private candidate route

Exam entry is a cost that sits outside tuition and catches families by surprise. Where a student is enrolled at a school, the school enters them and charges the entry fees, which vary between centres and between boards. There is no single published national figure, so ask the school's exams officer for the per-subject cost in writing rather than relying on a number quoted online.

A private candidate, meaning a student not entered through their own school, registers through a centre that accepts external candidates and pays that centre's fees, which differ from the in-school rate. Families consider this route for a resit, for a subject the school does not offer, or after a move between curricula. The practical constraint is that private entry has its own deadlines, usually months before the exam window, and some practical or coursework components are harder to arrange externally.

The November series is the budget tool most families overlook. Cambridge runs IGCSE in June and November, and Pearson International GCSE in May/June and November, so a single weak subject can be retaken in one series rather than triggering a repeated year. That is a far smaller cost, in fees and in time, than any alternative. The February and March Cambridge series is offered to India only, so it is not a route for a UAE candidate.

Build the dates in before you build the budget. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, and the live timetable on the board's own site is the only version to plan from. A page like this one should not be your source for a date a family acts on.

06

The calendar is the cheapest lever you have

  • The same grade movement costs roughly half as much in October as in March
  • Mock results drive the demand spike, so book before them, not after
  • Agree Ramadan timing in advance, usually a post-Iftar slot
  • Map term dates, mocks, internal deadlines and the series on one page

Of all the ways to reduce what tuition costs, the one that works most reliably is free: start earlier. The same grade movement needs roughly half the hours in October that it needs in March, for three compounding reasons. There are more weeks, so the work can be spread at one session rather than two. Content can be retaught before it is practised, instead of both at once. And specialist availability is wider, so you are not paying the scarcity premium that appears in the final eight weeks.

The pattern in this market is predictable. Enquiries cluster after the mock results come back, which is exactly when the hours cost most and the useful slots have gone. Families who book in September or October pay mid-band rates for the slot they want. Families who book in February pay the upper band for whatever is left, usually late in the evening.

There is a second calendar effect inside the year. Ramadan shifts the school day and the household rhythm, and a plan that ignores it loses weeks. Sessions often move to a post-Iftar slot during that period, and families who agree the change in advance keep continuity while those who improvise lose a month. Mock weeks, school trips and the end-of-term crush do the same thing on a smaller scale.

Write the year on one page in September: term dates, mock windows, the school's internal deadlines, the exam series, and Ramadan. Then place the tuition hours where they can survive. That single sheet of paper is worth more than any rate negotiation, and it is the thing almost no family does before hiring.

07

When to stop paying

Almost nothing in the tutoring business is written about stopping, which is why so many families end up with a monthly charge nobody re-examines. A plan that cannot describe its own ending is not a plan; it is a subscription. Decide the exit at the start, in terms somebody could check.

Useful exits are concrete. A named grade on a school assessment. A topic list cleared, with the student able to complete past questions on each item unaided. A full paper finished inside the time limit with the mark above a stated threshold. Vague exits such as feeling more confident are not testable, and a plan without a test runs forever.

Then review on marked work at six weeks and again at twelve. If the pattern of lost marks has moved towards the target, continue. If it has not moved at all, more of the same is the wrong purchase: change the approach or change the tutor. If the target has been met, stop, and keep a short block in reserve for the weeks before the series rather than carrying a weekly charge through a quiet term.

One honest caveat. Stopping and restarting costs a little more per hour than continuity, because a tutor has to re-establish where the student is. For a subject that is genuinely fixed, that cost is smaller than months of unnecessary sessions. For a subject where the student is still fragile, continuity is cheaper. The marked paper tells you which case you are in, and it is the only thing that does.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Yasmeen

All tuition for Al Yasmeen students is delivered online, so these districts are listed as scheduling and budgeting context rather than as a service radius.

Al Yasmeen

Villa plots with space for a dedicated study corner and a short in-emirate school run. The cheaper 4.30pm and 5pm slots are realistically bookable here, which is a quiet saving over coastal districts.

Al Rawda

Established streets adjoining Al Yasmeen with long-settled households. The common purchase is two sessions a week through Year 11, which raises the monthly figure and shortens the campaign.

Al Mowaihat

Three numbered villa districts with siblings frequently on different boards. Back-to-back bookings on one evening are how households here hold the total down.

Al Helio

Newer plots towards the ring road with many children in Sharjah schools. Later slots carry a scheduling cost rather than a cash one, since evening availability is tighter.

Al Jurf

Mixed zoning with schools and clinics inside the district. Weekend mornings are a frequent request where a parent's shift pattern sets the week.

Al Nuaimiya

Denser and closer to the Sharjah boundary, mostly apartments. A quiet room is the thing to organise before paying for a block of sessions here.

Emirates City

Commuter towers on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road corridor. Demand concentrates after 6.30pm, which is the part of the evening that fills first across the whole emirate.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the brief with the grade gap in it

Subject, year group, board and the grade the student is at against the grade they need. That pair is what makes a quote meaningful. Attach a marked paper and you have saved a paid session of diagnosis before anyone is hired.

  2. 02

Choose a shape, not just a tutor

You receive options at different intensities, a short targeted block, one weekly hour, or two hours for a term, with the total each implies. If no specialist in your child's specification is free at the hour you want, we say so rather than substituting.

  3. 03

Take the free trial and judge the method

One free session, no card details taken beforehand. The tutor should work from your child's marked paper and finish by naming two or three specific errors. An hour spent on introductions predicts how the paid hours will go.

  4. 04

Agree the plan, the price and the exit

Fix the weekly hour on Gulf Standard Time, the number of weeks, and what finished looks like in checkable terms. A short written note follows each session so a stalling plan is visible within a fortnight.

  5. 05

Review on marked work, then stop or extend

At six weeks compare the pattern of lost marks with the one you started from. Extend, reduce, change tutor or stop on that evidence. This habit saves more money than any negotiation over an hourly rate.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Totals, not hourly rates

A rate tells a household very little. A costed plan, this subject from October to the June series at one hour a week, tells them what they are committing to and where the rate compounds across the year.

The travel premium removed entirely

UAE lessons run one-to-one over live video. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in the UAE; home visits run in India only. The AED 180 to 500 in-home band appears here as market context, not as a service to compare against.

Figures with sources and dates

Every AED number on this page is attributed to the provider page or cost table that published it, read in October 2026. Three of six competing pages examined publish no price at all, and two quote in dollars.

Spending ranked by recoverable marks

We say which components tend to move in four to six hours and which take a term, so a household spends where the pattern of loss says rather than where the anxiety is. That ordering is the main difference between a plan and a hope.

An exit written in at the start

Every plan names what finished looks like in terms somebody can check: a grade, a cleared topic list, a timed paper above a threshold. A weekly charge with no finish line is how tuition becomes permanent.

No claims we cannot stand behind

No guaranteed grades, no invented statistics, no regulator approval. Ajman's private schools sit under the federal Ministry of Education, and IB Gram holds no accreditation from it, from KHDA, from ADEK or from any examination board.

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Yasmeen: your questions answered

What is the total cost of IGCSE tutoring in Al Yasmeen for one subject?+

Cost the plan rather than the hour. One weekly session from October to the June series is about eight months, or roughly 32 sessions. At the published band for a qualified online subject tutor, AED 150 to 300, that is AED 4,800 to 9,600 across the campaign, or AED 600 to 1,200 a month. A targeted block of four to eight hours for one diagnosed problem is far less. Those are market figures from pages read in October 2026, not IB Gram prices; ours is quoted after the free trial lesson.

Why does a Core entry cost us money later?+

Because Cambridge Core caps the awarded grade at C, whatever happens in the exam. Most schools require a 6 or 7 at IGCSE for A Level entry in maths and the sciences, so a Core-capped grade does not reach the threshold. The family then pays for an intensive conversion inside the school's entry deadline, a November resit, or a changed sixth-form plan. Ask the head of department in Year 10 which tier your child is entered for and what the deadline to change it is.

Which subject should get the first block of paid hours?+

The one where a marked paper shows recoverable marks, not the one causing the most worry. Scattered single marks across many questions means a technique problem that a short block fixes. Whole questions abandoned means missing content, which needs weeks of reteaching before practice helps. Business Studies, Economics and the English summary question tend to move in four to six hours. Extended maths without calculator fluency and organic chemistry take a term. Spend where the marks are concentrated and recoverable.

Is a tutor who drives to our villa worth the extra cost?+

Only if presence is the problem being solved. In-home one-to-one visits in the UAE are quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour, and the upper part of that prices travel, fuel and evening traffic rather than teaching. The hour contains the same sixty minutes either way. For a younger or very reluctant child who will not start without an adult in the room, that premium buys something real. For a Year 10 student with a desk and headphones, it does not. IB Gram does not offer UAE home visits in any case.

How much do IGCSE exam entries themselves cost in Ajman?+

There is no single published figure, and any page quoting one should be treated carefully. Where a student is enrolled at a school, the school enters them and charges its own fee per subject, which varies by centre and by board. A private candidate registers through a centre that accepts external entries and pays that centre's rate, which is usually higher. Ask your school's exams officer for the per-subject cost in writing, and ask about the deadline at the same time, since entry deadlines sit months before the papers.

Can a November resit save money compared with repeating a year?+

Substantially, yes, and it is the option families overlook most often. Cambridge runs IGCSE in June and November, and Pearson International GCSE in May/June and November, so one weak subject can be retaken in a single series instead of triggering a repeated year of school fees. The February and March Cambridge series is offered to India only and is not a route for a UAE candidate. Check the live timetable on the board's own site and the school's entry deadline before planning a resit campaign.

Do we need to buy any software or equipment for online lessons?+

No. A laptop or tablet with a working camera, headphones, a desk with a wall behind it and a stable connection is the entire list. Families sometimes buy a graphics tablet or a platform subscription before the first session, and neither is necessary; a tutor who insists on one should explain what it adds. The thing that genuinely improves an hour is a room with a door, which most villas in Al Yasmeen already have and most apartments do not.

How many subjects can we realistically afford to support at once?+

One properly, usually. Spreading two hours a week across three subjects is the commonest way a tuition budget disappears without any grade moving, because no subject gets enough continuity to shift a pattern. A better sequence is one subject at a time with a short block, reviewed on marked work, then the next. If two subjects genuinely need support, consider one weekly hour in each rather than splitting an hour, and expect the campaign to run longer.

Does the rate go up in the weeks before the June series?+

Availability tightens and some providers price that period differently, so ask directly. The bigger effect is on your side: the same grade movement bought in March takes roughly twice the hours it takes in October, because the work compresses into fewer weeks at a higher session count. Demand spikes right after mock results, which is also when the good slots have gone. Booking in September or October buys a mid-band rate and the hour you actually want.

What happens to our money if the tutor turns out to be wrong for my child?+

Ask that question before paying for anything, and get the answer in writing. A reasonable arrangement lets a family change tutor early without losing a prepaid block, and proposes an alternative specialist rather than leaving you to start again. Because our tutor pool is not geographic, a replacement does not have to live near Al Yasmeen as well as teach the subject, which is one of the quieter advantages of online delivery. Changing in week two costs a fortnight; leaving a poor match until March costs a grade.

Does the Ramadan timetable change what we pay for or when lessons run in Al Yasmeen?+

Agree the change in advance rather than improvising. The school day and the household rhythm both shift, and sessions commonly move to a post-Iftar slot for that period. Families who settle the new time before the month starts keep continuity; families who cancel week by week usually lose a month of progress and then buy it back later at a higher intensity. Put Ramadan on the same sheet as term dates, mock windows and the exam series when you plan the year in September.

Is group tuition a cheaper way to get the same result?+

It is cheaper per hour and it solves a different problem. A group class gives pace and practice volume, which suits a confident student who needs more reps. It cannot stop for one child, so a student who is two topics behind stays behind while the invoices continue. Families frequently buy group sessions first because of the price, then buy one-to-one anyway, having paid twice. Decide from the marked paper: missing content needs one-to-one diagnosis, while missing practice can be bought in a group.

What should the first six weeks produce for the money?+

Three visible things. A named list of where marks are being lost, taken from marked work rather than impressions. A short written plan with the school's deadlines and the exam series on it. And at least one measurable improvement, a component score up, a timed section completed, a topic cleared. If none of those exists after six weeks, the purchase is not working, and the answer is a different approach or a different tutor rather than more hours of the same thing.

When is the right time to stop paying for tuition?+

When the exit you wrote down at the start has happened: a named grade on a school assessment, a topic list cleared with unaided past questions, or a full paper completed inside the time limit above a stated threshold. Then stop, and keep a short block in reserve for the weeks before the series rather than carrying a weekly charge through a quiet term. Restarting costs slightly more per hour than continuity, so if a student is still fragile, continuity is the cheaper choice. The marked paper decides.

Decide the tier, the start date and the exit

An IGCSE home tutor in Al Yasmeen is the last of four decisions, not the first. Check the tier your child is entered for and the deadline to change it. Start a term earlier than feels necessary, because that halves the hours. Pick the subject where a marked paper shows recoverable marks. Then write down what finished looks like. Send us the subject, the year group and the grade gap, take the free trial with no card details, and judge the tutor on whether they work from your child's own paper. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with no travel in the price.
