IB Home Tutor in Al Mowaihat

An IB home tutor in Al Mowaihat can be quoted anywhere from AED 45 to AED 650 an hour, and the gap is not explained by talent alone. This page climbs the ladder band by band: what AED 50 buys, what AED 250 buys, where the extra money is scarcity rather than skill, and which extras never appear on a quote until later. IB Gram's own delivery is online, one-to-one, over live video.

  • Rate bands explained from the bottom up, with each source named
  • The extras nobody quotes listed before you pay anything
  • No travel inside the fee; lessons run over live video

IB & IGCSE in Al Mowaihat

Climb the rate ladder before you pick a rung

The spread of tutoring prices reaching Al Mowaihat is roughly fourteenfold. At the bottom, online tuition is advertised from AED 33 to 52 by Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 by EdFlik. At the top, BartyED publishes AED 650 an hour for a premium named tutor. Between them sit a qualified online subject tutor at AED 150 to 300, in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 500, and IB and IGCSE specialists at AED 270 per TutorChase and AED 200 to 450 and above per the Bestimate survey. All read in October 2026.

Most pages in this market pick one of those numbers and present it as the price. The useful version is the ladder itself, because each rung buys a genuinely different thing, and a family's job is to work out which rung the problem sits on. Supervision is a bottom-rung job. Diagnosing why a Higher Level Chemistry student loses marks on equilibrium is not, and paying bottom-rung money for it means paying for somebody to learn the course alongside your child.

Al Mowaihat is useful ground for this argument. The villa districts numbered 1 to 3 run along Sheikh Ammar Road, close enough to Ajman's school belt that mid-afternoon sessions are realistic and close enough to the Sharjah boundary that plenty of tutors advertise here. The local supply at the bottom of the ladder is real. The local supply at the top, for a specific Diploma Higher Level option, is close to nonexistent.

Delivery is stated plainly so the rest reads correctly. IB Gram teaches UAE families one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. The phrase in this page's address is what parents type, and it is answered honestly: what in-home tuition costs around Al Mowaihat, what the premium consists of, and why a screen usually buys more teaching per dirham here than a car does.

Nothing below is an IB Gram price list, because the right rate depends on subject, level and weeks remaining. What is published is the market, with sources, so that any quote can be checked against something. That is deliberately different from the norm in this cluster: three of the six competitor pages researched for this project publish no price at all, one asks the price in its own list of questions and then declines to answer it, and two quote in US dollars, a currency no household in Al Mowaihat actually banks in. A parent cannot negotiate against a blank, which is most of the reason this page starts with figures rather than with reassurance. The bands below are the floor and the ceiling of what is being asked across the emirate, and knowing both is what makes a single quote legible.

At a glance

  • Online rates in this market run from AED 33 at the bottom to AED 300 for a qualified subject tutor.
  • In-home one-to-one is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate, reaching AED 500 with independent tutors.
  • The IB Mathematics exploration is marked out of 20 across five criteria; MYP subjects use four criteria of 8.
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free, valid two years, and listed with a two-working-day completion time.
  • Cambridge candidates in Ajman sit June and November; the February/March series is offered in India only.
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three IB stages reach Al Mowaihat households, and the right rung of the rate ladder is different at each one. Buying specialist time for a primary child is as wasteful as buying budget time for a Higher Level paper.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-KG to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

No external papers, so there is no mark scheme to practise against and no specialist diagnosis to buy. The work is mechanics: number bonds, written methods, reading stamina, explaining an answer in a sentence. Two short sessions a week at the bottom rung is the correct purchase here.

At AED 45 to 150 an hour, two half-hour primary sessions a week sits inside Bestimate's AED 240 to 600 monthly band. Al Mowaihat's shorter school runs mean a 4:00pm slot is genuinely achievable, which is rare elsewhere in the emirate.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject, each marked out of 8, rewarding process as much as the answer. This is the rung where a generalist stops being adequate, because the student usually knows the content and is not writing to the criterion strands. One session with somebody who has read the subject guide beats three without.

Mid-rung rates of AED 150 to 300 put a weekly MYP session around AED 600 to 1,200 a month. Al Mowaihat families typically start with one subject and add a second only after a reporting cycle shows the first is working.

DPAges 16-19 · Grades 11-12

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, with an internally assessed component in every subject. This is the top of the ladder and usually the place where the top rung is justified, because Higher Level papers cannot be taught by somebody meeting them for the first time.

A single Higher Level subject taught weekly across both Diploma years lands in the AED 10,000 to 20,000 range at mid-market rates. That total deserves to be known in Grade 11, not discovered in Grade 12.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Scarcity moves a Diploma rate more than difficulty does. This grid notes where the teaching is widely available around Ajman and where paying the top rung is unavoidable.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Deep local pool, so competitive pricing. Marks go on Paper 1, the non-calculator paper, where GDC-fluent students cannot factorise by hand. A drilling problem, which means it responds fast and sessions can step down.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics led. Students report a regression output without interpreting it. HL adds graph theory and matrices, often taught late, so support booked in spring costs more per mark than the same support in autumn.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms carry the losses. Scarce at Higher Level across the Northern Emirates, so expect the upper half of the specialist band rather than the mid rung.

Physics

HL and SL

Unit errors, gradients read instead of calculated, explanations written as equations. Scarce locally at Higher Level. Often fixed more cheaply by a short paper block than by a year of weekly hours.

Biology

HL and SL

Punishes imprecision: a process named but not sequenced. Database and statistics questions catch students who have never calculated a standard deviation by hand. Widely taught, so mid-rung pricing is realistic.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams carry heavy marks and are usually drawn unlabelled. Three internal assessment commentaries need genuinely recent articles and a respected word count. Very scarce locally at Higher Level.

Business Management

HL and SL

Application to the specific case is the whole paper. HL adds the pre-released case study, published well ahead, so early support is materially cheaper per mark than a last-fortnight block.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is where students summarise instead of arguing. The Individual Oral needs a global issue chosen early. Deep pool and keen pricing, but the widest quality spread of any subject.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Usually bought late and in a panic, which is the most expensive way to buy it. The essay responds to prescribed titles and rewards one clear line of argument over breadth.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, each sitting on a different rung for a different reason. All run online, one-to-one, over live video, so none of the fee is a journey.

Weekly one-to-one across a term

One subject, one tutor, a fixed slot. This is the mid-rung purchase and the right one when a topic sequence has broken rather than a single test having gone badly. Its value is continuity: no session starts by rebuilding context.

  • 60 or 90 minutes, fixed weekly on Gulf Standard Time
  • Written notes after each session naming the next target
  • Reviewed against the school's own reporting cycle
  • Steps down to fortnightly once the gap closes

Short paper-focused block

Four to six weeks on one paper, with timed questions marked to the published scheme. Usually the cheapest effective intervention, because it converts knowledge the student already holds into marks rather than teaching new content.

  • Two or three sessions a week for four to six weeks
  • Every answer marked against the official scheme
  • An error log grouped by cause rather than topic
  • Timed to mocks or to a series

Coursework process coaching

For the exploration, Internal Assessment or Extended Essay: narrowing a research question, planning a method, reading the criterion descriptors, and written feedback on drafts the student has written. The student writes every word. Priced by the block because the work spreads across weeks.

  • Research question and method reviewed before writing
  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Word count and citation discipline checked against the subject guide
  • Nothing produced on the student's behalf

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Mowaihat

01

The rate ladder: what each AED band actually buys

Start at the bottom rather than the top, because the bottom rung is where most of the market's volume sits and where most of the disappointment is generated. Online tuition advertised from AED 33 to 65 an hour buys a person, a schedule and a routine. That is genuinely useful for a primary child or for a teenager who will not sit down without supervision. It does not buy a diagnosis, and it will not survive contact with a Higher Level paper.

The middle of the ladder, AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor working online, is where the purchase changes character. Here you are buying somebody who knows the syllabus, has seen the mark scheme and can tell you in forty minutes whether marks are going on recall, method, command-term reading or timing. For most Middle Years and Standard Level work this rung is the whole answer, and climbing higher adds reputation rather than effect.

The specialist rung, AED 200 to 450 and above, is paid for scarcity. There are very few teachers in the Northern Emirates covering Higher Level Chemistry, Higher Level Economics with its commentaries, or a minority language, and some of those are contractually unable to tutor their own school's students. Above that sits the premium band at AED 500 to 650, where BartyED's published AED 650 buys a particular named individual. That can be the right purchase and it is rarely the necessary one.

What follows from the ladder is a single discipline: identify the rung the problem is on before shopping for a rate. Nearly all of the avoidable spending in this market comes from buying the wrong rung rather than from being overcharged on the right one.

The extras that catch Al Mowaihat parents off guard

  • Minimum block size, and whether unused sessions are refundable or transferable.
  • Cancellation notice, and what happens when a child is sent home ill.
  • Whether travel is inside an in-home rate or added separately.
  • Whether the rate can change mid-year, and with how much notice.
  • Whether written notes and marked work are included.
  • Whether the AED figure quoted is inclusive or exclusive of tax.

An hourly rate is not a price. The number that matters is what leaves the account over a term, and the gap between the two is made up of things nobody volunteers at the enquiry stage. The commonest is the minimum block: a rate quoted per hour but sold in packs of eight or twelve, with the first invoice three or four times the number discussed.

The second is the cancellation rule. Twenty-four hours' notice is reasonable; a charged session for a child sent home ill at 2pm is not, and a family in Al Mowaihat with a school run that ends at 3:15pm will meet that rule several times a term. The third is the travel supplement, which on an in-home quote may be inside the rate or added separately, and which is worth having stated in writing before a tutor's first journey up Sheikh Ammar Road.

The fourth is the rate review. A number quoted in September is not necessarily the number charged in March, because demand rises towards a series and capacity does not. The fifth is material: whether reports, notes and marked work are included or billed. The sixth is tax treatment, where the only reasonable thing to establish is whether a quoted AED figure is inclusive or exclusive, and whether the provider holds a tax registration number.

None of these is improper. All six are answerable in a short message before any payment, and a provider that will not answer them in writing has told you something useful at no cost.

03

One session a week or two? The arithmetic of diminishing returns

Frequency is the lever families reach for when a report is disappointing, and it is the wrong lever most of the time. A second weekly session doubles the bill and rarely doubles the effect, because the binding constraint is usually not teaching time but the work done between sessions. A student who does not practise between one lesson a week will not practise between two.

The honest pattern across a Diploma is a curve rather than a flat line. Grade 11 wants one session a week in the subject that is genuinely weak, with the emphasis on building rather than on polishing. The autumn of Grade 12 wants coursework attention, which is often block work rather than weekly hours. The spring before the papers is the only period where two or three sessions a week reliably earns its cost, because timed practice marked against a real scheme compounds in a way that content teaching does not.

There is an exception worth naming. Where a student has missed a block of school, changed curriculum mid-year, or arrived from a system with a different sequence, two sessions a week for a defined number of weeks is catch-up rather than intensity, and it should have an end date written into it from the start. The distinction is not pedantic: catch-up has a finishing line that both the tutor and the student can see, while intensity has none, which is why it quietly becomes the permanent arrangement nobody reviews.

The table puts the frequencies side by side with the monthly cost each implies at mid-market rates, and with the honest answer about what each one achieves.

04

Sharing the cost: siblings, pairs and the Al Mowaihat cluster

Cost sharing is the most under-used lever available to families in this part of Ajman, and the reason is structural rather than financial: it needs two students on the same syllabus code at the same tier with a similar starting point, and in a small emirate that is hard to arrange outside the two or three most widely taught subjects.

Where it works best is siblings. Two children in one household on different subjects cannot share a session, but they can share a tutor relationship, a slot pattern and a reporting rhythm, and that reduces the administrative friction that causes families to drift away from a plan they were paying for. Where it works second best is a pair of classmates from the same Al Mowaihat school sitting the same paper, revising technique rather than content.

What sharing cannot do is follow one student's specific gaps. A group of two to four is an exam-technique format: timed questions, mark-scheme reading, the discipline of showing method. The moment the diagnosis identifies an individual topic sequence that has broken down, the group stops being cheaper and starts being slower.

A tuition centre's group class is a different product again, and a legitimate one. Worth knowing: an operation with premises and staff in Dubai requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. Asking a centre for its permit number is an ordinary question.

What scarcity does to a price around Al Mowaihat

The single biggest driver of a Diploma quote in Ajman is not the tutor's confidence, it is how many people could plausibly do the job. That number is high for Mathematics and English and very low for several Higher Level options, and the price follows it almost exactly.

There is a second squeeze on local supply that families rarely hear about. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and teachers tutoring outside school hours must hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, whose code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with their own school. That is press-reported rather than quoted from the current policy document and should be verified against it, but the direction is consistent across sources: the nearest qualified teacher is frequently the one person who cannot take the work.

Put those two facts together and the local market for a scarce Higher Level subject around Al Mowaihat is thinner than the advertising suggests. Removing the geographic constraint is what changes the price, because the comparison is no longer between the two people who could reach Sheikh Ammar Road by 5pm. Scarcity that is an artefact of a radius is not real scarcity, and it should not be paid for as though it were.

The table is a coverage map rather than a sales claim. It says where a local option is realistic, where the price premium is genuine scarcity, and what a family should do about it.

What you are actually buying when you buy coursework support

Coursework is the most commercially attractive thing in this market and the easiest to buy badly, because the marks are internal and the criteria are published in documents most parents have never opened. Worth knowing: the internal component is roughly a fifth to a quarter of each Diploma subject grade, and it is marked against named criteria with fixed mark allocations, not against a general impression of quality.

That changes what good support looks like. For the Mathematics exploration, the marks are divided across presentation, mathematical communication, personal engagement, reflection and use of mathematics, with use of mathematics carrying the largest single allocation. A student who writes beautifully about a topic they have not mathematically developed cannot reach the top bands, and no amount of polishing fixes that. For Middle Years subjects, each of the four criteria is marked out of 8, which means a strand left unaddressed costs a predictable number of marks.

Legitimate support is therefore criterion work: reading the descriptors, identifying which strand is unaddressed, and giving written feedback on a draft the student has written. A tutor must never write, redraft or complete the exploration, the Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay, a TOK essay or any assessed coursework, and must not supply text for a student to paste. A page found during research for this project sells completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; the consequence of buying one falls on the student, not on the seller.

Confirm every mark allocation against the subject guide your school issues, because guides are revised and this page does not reproduce them. No tutor should supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes as downloads; the correct behaviour is to reference and link the official source.

HOW INTERNAL MARKS ARE DIVIDED - CONFIRM AGAINST YOUR SCHOOL'S SUBJECT GUIDE

07

Is the tutor permitted to teach, and how would you know?

This is a short section because the answer is short, and it belongs on a cost page because the cheapest quotes are where the question matters most. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years.

Eligibility is broad. Teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students may all apply. MoHRE's own service page, Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, with applications made through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount appears here.

The cost logic is uncomfortable for the bottom of the market. Because the permit is free and takes two working days, a low rate cannot be explained by permit costs being avoided, only by the permit not existing. A parent cannot tell from an advertisement, so the question has to be asked, and it is one sentence long.

For completeness: IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and nothing on this page should be read as a claim of one. Describing what a regulator does is not the same as claiming its endorsement, and the difference matters.

08

Spending in the right term

The last cost lever is timing, and it is free. Rates in this market firm up as a series approaches because demand rises and the same teachers cannot teach more hours. A family booking Higher Level support in September is not competing for capacity; the same family booking in spring is. Early planning is a discount that costs nothing to claim.

On the IB side, dates have to be handled honestly. No IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself, because the board's own site returns an error to automated checking. What is safe to say is that UAE schools sit the May session and that a November session exists as an alternative route, and that any specific date should come from the school's Diploma coordinator or from ibo.org. A tutoring page is not a timetable.

On the IGCSE side of a household the sourced position is firmer. Cambridge runs June and November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October, and allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones; the board states that using the correct zone timetable is essential and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong version was used. Cambridge's February/March series is offered in India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November, with the November 2026 final timetable running from late October to 19 November 2026.

One more timing note specific to this market: Ramadan shortens school hours and moves the useful study window to after Iftar. Online sessions move with it. An in-home tutor driving to Al Mowaihat after Iftar is a much harder thing to arrange, and that month is frequently where a term's momentum is quietly lost.

Where we tutor

Al Mowaihat and the Ajman districts around it

Price and timing both shift across Ajman depending on the drive and on when a parent gets home. These notes are about that.

Al Mowaihat 1, 2 and 3

Villa districts along Sheikh Ammar Road feeding several of Ajman's larger private schools. The shortest school runs in the emirate, so a 4:00pm or 4:30pm start is realistic rather than theoretical.

Al Nuaimiya

Ajman's densest older district and the largest concentration of tutor advertising in the emirate. Lowest in-home quotes available locally, and the widest quality spread, so the syllabus question matters more than the number.

Al Rawda

Villa districts 1 to 3 with heavy Sharjah commuting. In-home quotes rise with the evening drive and sessions rarely start before 6:30pm whichever format is used.

Al Jurf

Institutional and industrial belt around Ajman's hospital and colleges. Short school runs and a smaller travel premium than the coastal communities.

Al Yasmeen

Newer low-rise villas towards the Sharjah boundary. School runs split between Ajman and Sharjah, which can put siblings in one household on two different term calendars.

Emirates City

High-rise community on the E311 with many Dubai commuters. Sessions here are routinely booked for 8:00pm, which an online slot absorbs easily and a travelling tutor rarely can.

Al Zorah

Low-density waterfront community on the northern coast with no school inside it. Highest in-home travel premium in Ajman and the thinnest local specialist supply.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Mowaihat

The Al Mowaihat school belt

Al Mowaihat's position on Sheikh Ammar Road puts it within a short drive of most of Ajman's larger private schools, which is why local tutor supply at the budget rung is better here than in the coastal communities. Students we support attend schools in this cluster.

  • Ajman Academy
  • Ajman Modern School
  • The City School Ajman
  • Habitat School Ajman
  • Pace British School Ajman
  • Al Ameer English School

Sharjah, across the boundary

A share of Al Mowaihat families cross into Sharjah for a particular curriculum. That puts the child under the Sharjah Private Education Authority rather than the federal Ministry of Education, which changes who approves the curriculum and the fees.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Australian International School Sharjah
  • Wesgreen International School
  • Emirates National School Sharjah
  • Delta English School

Schools are named to describe the environment an Al Mowaihat student studies in. No affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied, and every name should be checked against the regulator's own school listing.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Name the rung, not just the subject

Say what you think is wrong: not sitting down to work, not understanding a topic, or knowing the content and losing marks anyway. Those three sit on three different rungs of the rate ladder, and naming yours saves a term of paying for the wrong one.

  2. 02

    Take the free diagnostic lesson

The first session is a diagnosis and no card details are taken for it. The tutor works through real paper questions to establish whether marks are going on recall, method, command-term reading or timing, and you keep the written summary either way.

  3. 03

Get the six extras answered in writing

Minimum block, cancellation notice, travel, rate reviews, whether notes are included, and whether the figure is inclusive of tax. Ask every provider the same six questions and the quotes become comparable for the first time.

  4. 04

Book a slot that uses Al Mowaihat's short school run

The district's proximity to Ajman's school belt makes a 4:00pm or 4:30pm start genuinely achievable, which is rare in this emirate. Because lessons run online there is no travel to add at either end, so the earliest workable slot is the one straight after the drive home.

  5. 05

    Reduce the frequency on purpose

The aim is fewer sessions. Once the diagnosed gap closes, weekly work should move to fortnightly or stop until the next pressure point. A provider that never proposes stepping down is managing revenue rather than marks.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The ladder, not a single number

This page publishes the whole spread from AED 33 to AED 650 with each source named, because a single figure would be wrong for most readers. Three of six competitor pages researched for this project publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars.

No journey in the fee

Lessons run online over live video, so no part of what you pay is a drive up Sheikh Ammar Road. The published gap between online and in-home rates is the clearest single argument for the format, and it is shown in a table rather than asserted.

The extras disclosed before payment

Minimum blocks, cancellation rules and rate reviews are the things that turn an hourly rate into a different number on the invoice. They are listed on this page so a family can ask about them before committing rather than after.

Criterion-level coursework help, with a hard limit

Support means reading the descriptors, identifying the unaddressed strand and giving written feedback on the student's own draft. Producing any part of an exploration, Internal Assessment or Extended Essay: never, at any price.

No borrowed credentials

IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. What is offered instead is a verifiable permit position for tutors and an accurate account of what each regulator does.

Honest coverage, gaps included

Where no specialist is free for a scarce Higher Level option in the window you need, that is stated rather than filled with a generalist. The scarcity table exists so a family can see the limit before paying.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Mowaihat: your questions answered

What is the cheapest sensible way to get IB help in Al Mowaihat?+

Identify which rung the problem sits on first. If the issue is that work does not get started, the bottom rung does the job: online tuition is advertised from AED 33 to 52 by Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 by EdFlik, and supervision is a real service worth that price. If the issue is losing marks despite knowing the content, the bottom rung will waste a term. The cheapest route overall is a free diagnostic lesson, then buying only the rung the diagnosis points at.

Why is Higher Level Chemistry quoted so much higher than Standard Level Maths in Ajman?+

Scarcity, not difficulty. Mathematics is taught in every Diploma school in the emirate, so the pool is deep and pricing is competitive. Higher Level Chemistry is taught by a handful of teachers across the Northern Emirates, and in Abu Dhabi the regulator's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid tuition of their own students, with the MoHRE permit code of conduct barring the same. Specialist rates were published at AED 270 by TutorChase and AED 200 to 450 and above in the Bestimate survey.

Will two sessions a week work twice as well as one for my child in Al Mowaihat?+

Rarely, because the binding constraint is usually the work done between sessions rather than teaching time. A student who does not practise between one weekly lesson will not practise between two. The pattern that does earn its cost is a curve: one session a week in Grade 11, block work on coursework in the autumn of Grade 12, then two or three a week for the eight to twelve weeks before the papers, when timed practice marked against a real scheme compounds.

What extras should I ask about before paying an Ajman tutor?+

Six, and all six are answerable in a short message. Minimum block size and whether unused sessions are refundable or transferable. Cancellation notice, including what happens when a child is sent home ill. Whether travel is inside an in-home rate. Whether the rate can change mid-year. Whether written notes and marked work are included. And whether the AED figure quoted is inclusive or exclusive of tax, with a tax registration number if one is held. A provider that will not answer in writing has told you something.

Can two children in the same Al Mowaihat household share one tutor to cut the bill?+

If they are on the same syllabus code at the same tier with a similar starting point, yes, and the saving per student is material. If they are on different subjects, they cannot share a session but they can share a tutor relationship, a slot pattern and a reporting rhythm, which removes the administrative friction that makes families drift away from plans they are paying for. What sharing cannot do is follow one child's individual gaps, so it suits technique work better than repair work.

How much does a two-year IB Diploma tuition plan come to in total?+

For one Higher Level subject taught weekly at mid-market rates it lands in the AED 10,000 to 20,000 range across Grades 11 and 12, derived from Bestimate's monthly bands of AED 600 to 1,200 mid-market and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Two subjects roughly doubles it. The reason to calculate it in Grade 11 rather than Grade 12 is that the shape of the spend, light early and heavy before the papers, is only available to a family that planned it.

Does a tuition centre group class work out cheaper than one-to-one?+

On headline price, usually yes, and for exam technique a group can be effective. The trade is that a group cannot follow one student's specific gaps, and that you travel to a fixed timetable rather than choosing a slot. One thing worth asking a centre: an operation with premises and staff in Dubai requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. The permit number is a fair question.

How are marks divided inside an IB Mathematics exploration?+

Across five criteria totalling 20 marks, covering presentation, mathematical communication, personal engagement, reflection and use of mathematics, with use of mathematics carrying the largest single allocation. The practical consequence is that a student who writes well about a topic they have not mathematically developed cannot reach the top bands, and polishing the prose will not fix it. Confirm the current allocations against the subject guide your school issues, because guides are revised and this page does not reproduce them.

Is it worth paying a premium named tutor at AED 650 an hour?+

Sometimes, and rarely necessarily. BartyED's published AED 650 buys a particular individual's time, which can be the right purchase for a very scarce Higher Level option or for a student who has already worked through the mid rung without progress. For a Standard Level subject it is almost never the efficient choice: the qualified online band of AED 150 to 300 contains people who know the same mark scheme. Ask what the premium is for, specifically, and expect a concrete answer.

Does the price change if we start in September instead of March?+

In this market it generally does, because demand rises towards a series while the same tutors cannot teach more hours. A family booking a scarce Higher Level subject in September is not competing for capacity; the same family booking in spring is. That makes early planning a discount available to anybody prepared to claim it. It also means a quote given in autumn should not be assumed to hold in spring, which is reasonable to ask a provider to confirm in writing.

How much Extended Essay help can an Al Mowaihat student legitimately buy?+

Yes, inside a boundary worth stating precisely. A tutor may help narrow a research question so it can actually be answered within the 4,000-word ceiling, discuss structure, explain what each named criterion demands, and give written feedback on drafts the student has written. A tutor must never write, redraft or complete the essay, nor supply text to paste in. Work sold as a finished piece is academic malpractice, and the consequence falls on the student rather than on whoever sold it.

Why is there no IB exam date on this page?+

Because none has been verified. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so no IB session or results date in this project is confirmed from the board itself, and publishing an unverified date that a parent plans around would be worse than publishing none. What is safe to say is that UAE schools sit the May session and that a November session exists as an alternative route. Any specific date should come from your school's Diploma coordinator or from ibo.org.

How does Ramadan affect a tuition plan in Al Mowaihat?+

School hours shorten and the useful study window moves to after Iftar, which is precisely when an in-home tutor is least likely to be driving anywhere. Online sessions move with the month: rescheduled to post-Iftar timing, or kept at the same frequency with shorter sessions. The practical advice is to set the arrangement before the month begins rather than cancelling week by week, because a quietly abandoned month is where a term's momentum is most often lost.

Is a cheap tutor without a MoHRE permit actually cheaper?+

The permit is free of charge, valid for two years and listed with a two-working-day completion time on MoHRE's own service page, so a low rate cannot be explained by avoiding a permit cost. It can be explained by the permit not existing. Individuals offering private tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published. Private tutoring here is not unregulated and the permit is not optional, so ask to see it.

What is the single most common way Ajman families waste tuition money?+

Buying hours against an undiagnosed problem. A family worried about Chemistry books two sessions a week in September and finds in January that nothing has changed, because nobody established whether the issue was recall, method, command-term reading or timing. One diagnostic session that answers that question is worth more than a term of unfocused ones, and at IB Gram it is free with no card details taken. The second most common is paying a specialist rate for what is really supervision.

Find the rung first, then pay for it

If the honest question is what this should cost, the cheapest first move is a free diagnostic lesson that establishes which rung of the ladder your child's problem actually sits on. No card details are taken and the written summary is yours whatever you decide. Tell us the subject, the level, the school, the series being worked towards and the budget you have in mind, and what comes back will have a session count and a review date on it rather than an open subscription. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, timed around Al Mowaihat's short school run.
