IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Ajman Corniche

Searching for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Ajman Corniche usually means two children in one flat on two different exam calendars, with coursework deadlines, mocks and a university application all landing in the same autumn. The useful answer is a twelve-month plan rather than a nearby name. This page builds one, and sets out how IB Gram covers both systems over live video.

  • Both calendars mapped month by month, not one at a time
  • Ramadan, Eid, National Day and summer built into the plan
  • Lessons run online over live video, so two children never share a journey
  • No IB date published that has not been verified from the board

IB & IGCSE in Ajman Corniche

A twelve-month plan beats a nearby name

The thing being searched for is proximity and the thing actually needed is a sequence. A household on Ajman Corniche with a Diploma student and an IGCSE candidate is running two assessment calendars that do not align, inside a UAE academic year that has its own rhythm, in a flat with one quiet room. Finding somebody nearby solves none of that. Writing the year down solves most of it.

The two calendars collide in predictable places. Diploma internal coursework clusters in the autumn of the final year, which is also when a Year 11 sibling's mocks are set and when university applications are written. IGCSE results land in August for the summer series and in January for the autumn one. The Diploma exam window sits in the spring, the IGCSE one in June. Every one of those is knowable a year ahead, and almost none of it is written down anywhere a parent can see.

Ajman Corniche shapes the plan in two specific ways. School runs from the seafront towers are among the shortest in the emirate, often fifteen minutes, which makes an early session genuinely available. And these are apartments, frequently with siblings and a shared living room, so two simultaneous video lessons need two quiet spaces and a household agreement about noise. That is a week-one decision, not a week-five discovery.

Delivery is stated plainly. IB Gram teaches UAE families one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. The phrase in this page's address is what parents type, and it is answered honestly: what in-home tuition is quoted at here, what the travel premium consists of, and why two independent online bookings serve a two-child household better than one tutor's single journey.

On dates, this page is deliberately asymmetric. Cambridge and Pearson positions are sourced from the boards' own exam-administration pages, read in October 2026, and are given with their dates. No IB exam or results date appears anywhere, because the IB's own site returns an error to automated checking and nothing in this project has been verified from the board itself. A date a family plans around has to be right, and an unverified one is worse than an absent one.

One correction that matters locally: Cambridge's February and March series is offered to candidates in India. A centre in Ajman enters the June and November series. Revision material written for an India audience circulates here, and a family working to those dates is working to a different country's calendar. That is the kind of mistake a tuition page can cause without ever teaching a lesson, so the series named below are the ones an Ajman centre actually enters and the official timetable is linked rather than copied out, because boards revise provisional versions.

At a glance

  • Diploma coursework deadlines cluster in the autumn of the final year, alongside Year 11 mocks and university applications.
  • IGCSE results: 20 August 2026 for the June 2026 series; 22 January 2026 for the November 2025 series.
  • Cambridge runs June and November; the February and March series is offered in India only.
  • Ramadan shifts roughly eleven days earlier each year against the school calendar, so its position in the term changes.
  • Ajman's private schools are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education; Sharjah's by the Sharjah Private Education Authority.
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A two-board household touches these four at once, which is why reading them side by side is more useful than reading any one of them properly.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject, each marked out of 8, with internal assessment dates spread across the year rather than concentrated in an exam window. The calendar here is real and invisible, because MYP assessment arrives as tasks and projects. A criterion strand left unaddressed costs marks every time it recurs.

In Ajman the MYP cohort is small, so an internal position tells a parent very little. That is one reason Corniche families often want an external view in Year 10, while the Diploma or IGCSE decision is still open.

DPAges 16-19 · Grades 11-12

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, with an internally assessed component in every subject. Those components run on school-set deadlines that cluster in one autumn, which is what makes the Diploma a scheduling problem more than an academic one.

The emirate's Diploma cohort is small enough that a student may be one of very few taking a particular Higher Level option, so the school's own deadline calendar is the only calendar they will be handed. Ask for it in September.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Separate subject qualifications with their own codes: Mathematics 0580 split into Core and Extended, Physics 0625, Chemistry 0620, Biology 0610. The tier is submitted with the entry and fixes a ceiling that cannot be lifted later, which makes the autumn entry conversation more consequential than it feels.

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, states that using the correct version of the timetable for the zone is essential, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong version was used.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Different codes and a different assessment shape: 4MA1 Mathematics A with Foundation and Higher tiers, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology, with practical knowledge assessed inside the written papers. Cambridge past papers are not a substitute, and the reverse is equally true.

Exams run in May/June and November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables for future series and then revises them, so the live official PDF is the only version worth revising from.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

The Diploma side of a Corniche household, with the calendar pressure point named alongside the content one.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The non-calculator paper is the reliable source of lost marks. The exploration needs a topic with genuine mathematics in it, chosen a term before it is written rather than a fortnight.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics led. Higher Level adds graph theory and matrices, usually taught late in the final year, so a student already behind meets new content and revision at once.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms carry the losses. The internal assessment needs a method settled early enough to collect usable data, which is the deadline most often missed here.

Physics

HL and SL

Unit errors, gradients read instead of calculated, explanations written as equations. Technique responds quickly to timed practice, which makes it a strong candidate for a short pre-series block.

Biology

HL and SL

Rewards sequence and precision. Statistics questions catch students who have never calculated a standard deviation by hand, and that is a one-session fix once somebody has named it.

Economics

HL and SL

Three commentaries, each needing a genuinely recent article, a labelled diagram and a respected word count. Articles have to be collected as they appear, not hunted the week before.

Business Management

HL and SL

Application to the case stimulus is the whole paper. The Higher Level pre-released case study is published well ahead, so early structured reading is worth more here than anywhere else.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 rewards argument about how a text works. The Individual Oral needs a global issue chosen early and two extracts that genuinely support it, which is a term's decision.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Core

The two components most often bought late. The essay answers a prescribed title with one line of argument; the Extended Essay needs a question answerable inside 4,000 words.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

And the Year 10 or Year 11 side of the same household, by code, because the code decides which past papers are worth the evening.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Pearson 4MA1)

Core and Extended / Foundation and Higher

The tier recommendation forms in the spring of Year 10, which is when to intervene. Extended Paper 4 rewards method marks, so working has to be shown even when the answer is obvious.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity and waves carry the heaviest losses and both are taught early, so a Year 10 gap persists quietly until the mocks reveal it.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Moles and stoichiometry sit in the first year of the course and remain the wall. Conversions between mass, moles and volume break down under time pressure rather than in principle.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Long answers reward ordering as much as naming. Extended genetics needs a Punnett square drawn properly rather than reasoned about aloud.

English (Cambridge 0500 and 0510)

First and Second Language

Directed writing is marked on task and register as well as quality. Listening practice at exam speed is a term-long habit rather than a session's skill.

Economics and Business Studies (Cambridge 0455, 0450)

Core and Extended

Both are application papers. Data-response marks come from quoting the figure in the extract; case marks come from using the business in the stimulus.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, chosen for how they fit a twelve-month plan with two children in it. All run online, one-to-one, over live video, which is what makes two independent bookings possible at all.

Stacked weekday slots on one evening

Two children, two subject specialists, consecutive from 4:00pm or 4:15pm. The point is not efficiency but containment: concentrating the week's disruption into one evening leaves three untouched, which is what makes the arrangement last until the end of term rather than until week five.

  • 45 or 60 minutes each, consecutive on Gulf Standard Time
  • A different tutor per child, chosen by programme and code
  • Both sessions end before Maghrib through most of the year
  • Two quiet rooms agreed in week one, not improvised weekly

A deadline block, placed on the calendar

A short intensive aimed at one event: a Diploma coursework cluster, a mock window, or the eight weeks before a series. The block is placed on the twelve-month plan at the start of the year and has an end date written into it, so it never becomes the standing arrangement nobody reviews.

  • Two or three sessions a week across four to eight weeks
  • Scheduled against the school's own deadline calendar
  • Timed questions marked to the published scheme where papers are the target
  • Ends on a stated date rather than drifting

The summer bridge

The one block of time in the year nobody has already allocated. Used for the jump from Extended tier into a Higher Level course, for settling an internal assessment topic before term starts, or for closing a content gap the mocks exposed. Short, defined and usually the highest-value weeks a two-board household buys.

  • Three or four weeks, two sessions a week
  • Targets a named transition or a named content gap
  • Finishes before term begins, with a written handover
  • Removes the autumn panic rather than responding to it

01

The collision map: where the two calendars hit each other

Two children in two systems do not generate twice as much pressure spread evenly. They generate concentrated pressure in three or four specific windows and long quiet stretches in between, and knowing which is which is the whole value of writing the year down.

The first collision is the autumn of the Diploma's final year. Internal coursework in six subjects falls due in draft or final form, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge essay are written, and university applications are prepared. If a Year 11 sibling's mocks are set in the same term, as they usually are, the household has two children producing high-stakes work in the same eight weeks with one quiet room between them.

The second is results. IGCSE summer results arrived with students on 20 August 2026, in the middle of the summer break, and November results reached students on 22 January 2026, in the middle of a term. Each demands a decision within a fortnight, and each lands when a household is least organised. The third collision is the spring, when the Diploma exam window and IGCSE revision overlap and neither child can be the priority.

The response is not more tuition. It is placing the quiet stretches deliberately: light work in the Diploma student's first year, a summer bridge before the hard autumn, and a protected single slot for the younger child that never becomes the thing cancelled when the older one has a deadline.

02

The UAE academic year as it actually runs

  • Ramadan moves roughly eleven days earlier each year, so its term position changes annually.
  • Stack two late sessions post-Iftar rather than suspending the month.
  • Use mid-term breaks and National Day for coursework, not for content catch-up.
  • The summer is the only block nobody has already claimed.

Every plan in this market is built on a year with features no international template accounts for, and they move. Ramadan shifts roughly eleven days earlier against the Gregorian calendar each year, which means its position inside the school year changes: in some years it lands in a quiet term, in others it sits immediately before an exam window. A plan written once and reused is a plan that will eventually put its heaviest weeks inside the month with the least capacity.

During Ramadan school hours shorten and the useful study window moves to after Iftar. For a two-child household that is actually easier online than at any other time of year, because two late sessions can be stacked without anybody driving to a tower at nine in the evening. The failure mode is suspension: a month quietly dropped, resumed in a rush, with a coursework deadline now four weeks closer than the plan assumed.

Eid breaks, UAE National Day on 2 December and the mid-term holidays all sit inside terms rather than between them, which makes them the natural place for coursework rather than for content. A student who uses a mid-term break to finish an internal assessment draft buys two weeks of autumn back. A student who uses it to rest and then returns to both the draft and the content is the standard case.

The summer is the only genuinely unallocated block, and it is treated below as a resource rather than as a gap. The practical point for a Corniche family is that none of these features is a surprise. All of them can be put on a single page in September, and the plan written around them instead of against them.

03

A twelve-month plan for a two-board household

This is the document the search was really looking for. Written in September, it costs nothing, and it is the difference between a household that places its spending and one that reacts to each report. The version below assumes a Corniche flat, a Diploma student entering the final year, and a sibling in Year 11, with one quiet room and one spare.

The shape is deliberately uneven. The heavy months are the autumn, where coursework and mocks coincide, and the eight weeks before each exam window. The light months are the start of the year and the period immediately after coursework clears, when a household recovers capacity it will need later. Trying to run both children at full intensity for twelve months produces two tired students and a bill nobody can justify.

Two mechanisms make the plan hold. First, every block has an end date written into it at the point it is agreed, so nothing becomes permanent by default. Second, the younger child has one protected weekly slot that is never the thing cancelled when the older child has a deadline, because that cancellation is exactly how a Year 11 drifts for two terms while a Grade 12 is managed.

Adapt the months to your own schools' calendars rather than to this page. The value is in having a plan on one page in September, not in matching somebody else's. Two households on the same Corniche street with the same two year groups will produce different plans, because their schools set different internal deadlines and may sit different boards, and a plan that is not built on your own documents is a template rather than a plan.

What 'near me' can and cannot deliver here

A near-me result is sorted by distance and by who paid to be visible, and neither signal says whether the person has taught the syllabus. On the Corniche the local supply is better than in most of the emirate, because the seafront sits inside the densest school catchment in Ajman, and that makes the distinction between real and apparent proximity sharper rather than softer.

The results divide into three. Agencies in Dubai or Sharjah whose service area is drawn generously and whose tutors would be driving 45 minutes each way in the evening. Individual tutors in the adjoining districts, often strong, usually teaching across a wide span of levels, and rarely able to name the paper structure of the specific qualification entered. And international platforms that never mention the UAE, quote in dollars, and route enquiries to a number outside the country.

Four questions separate them, and a two-board household has to ask all four twice, once per system: which syllabus code did you last teach and when, which papers did your students sit, which topics did that cohort lose marks on, and do you hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit. For the Diploma side, add a fifth: have you supervised an internal assessment through to submission, and what did you not do for the student.

The table is a coverage map rather than a claim. Its purpose is to let a Corniche family plan on a correct assumption about what is locally available, instead of spending a term looking for somebody who is not there.

05

When both children have a deadline in the same week

  • Decide the priority before the week, not during it.
  • Counted coursework outranks a diagnostic mock.
  • Reduce the other child's session rather than cancelling it.
  • Agree the two rooms and the household's rules in week one.

It happens every year and it is always treated as bad luck rather than as a scheduling problem with a known solution. The week an Extended Essay draft is due is also the week of a Year 11 mock, and the household has one quiet room, one dinner table and a finite amount of attention.

The first move is to decide the priority before the week arrives rather than inside it. In almost every case the component with permanent consequences outranks the one that generates information: a coursework submission that will be marked and counted outranks a mock whose purpose is diagnostic. Saying that out loud in advance removes the argument from the week itself, which is most of the cost.

The second move is to protect the lower-priority child's slot anyway, in a reduced form. A twenty-minute check-in rather than a cancelled session keeps the rhythm and stops the younger child learning that their work is the thing that gets dropped. That lesson, learned twice, is what produces a Year 11 who has quietly disengaged while the household managed a Grade 12.

The third is physical. Two simultaneous video lessons need two spaces, and on the Corniche that usually means one child in a bedroom and one at the dining table with the rest of the household elsewhere for forty-five minutes. Agreeing that once, in week one, is worth more than any amount of goodwill negotiated weekly. The households that lose the fewest sessions across a term are not the most disciplined ones; they are the ones who settled the physical arrangement before they needed it.

06

Summer: the only block nobody has allocated

Every other period in the year already has a claim on it. The summer does not, which makes it the most underused resource available to a two-board household and the cheapest place to solve a problem that would otherwise cost a term.

Three jobs suit it. The first is the transition from Extended or Higher tier into a Diploma Higher Level course, which is a predictable, subject-specific gap: procedural fluency to proof and modelling in Mathematics, recall to data analysis and extended evaluation in the sciences, comprehension to argument in English. Named early, each of those closes in a defined number of weeks. Met in October alongside everything else, it becomes a term of confusion.

The second is settling an internal assessment topic before term starts, so the autumn cluster begins with a viable question and a workable method rather than with a blank page. The third is closing a content gap the mocks exposed, which is the only time of year when a student can learn new material without also revising old material.

What the summer is not is a place to run a full programme. Three or four weeks with two sessions a week, aimed at one named target, with a written handover at the end, is the version that works. A student who studies through July and August arrives in September already tired, which costs more than the gap would have. The test of a good summer block is that it finishes before term starts and hands over something written: a named gap closed, a topic settled, or a method approved.

07

The university application calendar, and why it collides

This is the collision least often planned for, because it is not an examination and therefore not on anybody's assessment calendar. University applications are written in the autumn of the Diploma's final year, in the same weeks as the coursework cluster, and they consume exactly the resource coursework needs: sustained written attention from the student and administrative attention from the parent.

The destinations have different rhythms, which is what makes a household plan necessary rather than a generic one. UK applications run through a centralised autumn cycle with a personal statement and predicted grades. UAE universities and many regional institutions run their own admission timelines with their own tests. North American applications have earlier rounds in the autumn and later ones in the winter, plus standardised tests that have to be booked months ahead. A family applying in two directions is managing two of those simultaneously.

The practical consequence for tuition is sequencing rather than content. Predicted grades are produced from work done before the application, which means the autumn of the first Diploma year and the spring following it are where predictions are actually earned. Tuition bought after predictions are issued cannot change them, which is a fact worth knowing a year earlier than most families learn it.

There is one honest limit to state. IB Gram tutors teach subjects; nothing on this page is a claim to manage admissions, write personal statements or guarantee a place anywhere. Where a student needs application support, that is a different service and should be described as one.

08

The permit, the materials rule and the honesty line

Three boundaries belong on a page that asks a family to plan a year around a tutor, and the first is a calendar item in its own right. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Two years is a date as well as a duration, which makes it a reasonable thing to ask about rather than to assume once.

Eligibility is broad: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, with applications through the smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published, so no amount appears here. Separately, an operation with premises and staff in Dubai requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, renewed annually with the request at least 30 days before expiry.

The second boundary is materials. No tutor should reproduce or distribute IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides as downloads; the official source should be referenced and linked. That is a copyright matter and, for unreleased material, a malpractice exposure, which is why there are no attachments on this page.

The third is academic. A tutor may teach content, explain each assessment criterion and what its descriptors demand, help narrow a research question, review a method, and give written feedback on a draft the student has written. A tutor must never write, redraft or complete an Internal Assessment, exploration, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or any assessed coursework, nor supply text to paste in. A page found during research for this project sells completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750, and the consequence of buying one falls on the student. No tutor can promise a grade either, and IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

Where we tutor

Ajman Corniche and the districts behind it

Across these districts the thing that changes is how much of the evening survives the drive, and therefore how many sessions a plan can hold.

Ajman Corniche

Seafront towers in the old city with the shortest runs in the emirate, so two stacked sessions from 4:00pm are possible on time. The constraint is two quiet rooms rather than two free hours.

Al Nuaimiya

Dense older district adjoining the Corniche, with the most local tutor advertising in Ajman. Early stacked slots are easy to fill; confirming the syllabus code matters far more than confirming the distance.

Al Rashidiya

Central district between the Corniche and the creek. Short runs and reliable early slots, with the same apartment-space constraint as the seafront strip.

Al Jurf

Institutional belt inland near the hospital and the colleges. A 4:30pm start holds most days, and larger flats make a second simultaneous session more practical.

Al Mowaihat

Villa districts 1 to 3 on Sheikh Ammar Road feeding several of Ajman's larger schools. Quiet rooms are easier here, which matters for a ninety-minute weekend paper.

Al Rawda

Villa districts with heavy Sharjah commuting, so stacked sessions here start at 6:30pm and the second rarely survives a full term.

Al Yasmeen

Low-rise villas towards the Sharjah boundary. School runs split between the two emirates, which can put two children on different term calendars and different regulators.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Ajman Corniche

The Ajman city cluster

The Corniche sits inside the emirate's oldest school catchment, which is why the afternoon here is longer than elsewhere in Ajman. The document to request from each school is its own assessment and deadline calendar for the year; that is what a twelve-month plan is built from. Students we support attend schools in this cluster.

  • Ajman Academy
  • Ajman Modern School
  • The City School Ajman
  • Habitat School Ajman
  • Pace British School Ajman
  • Al Ameer English School

Sharjah and northern Dubai

Where one child attends across the boundary, the household is working to two regulators and often two term calendars. Sharjah's authority regulates private education in the emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods; Ajman's schools are supervised federally.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Australian International School Sharjah
  • Wesgreen International School

Schools are named to describe the environment an Ajman Corniche student studies in. No affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied, and every name should be checked against the regulator's own school listing.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Collect both schools' calendars in September

The Diploma internal assessment calendar, the Extended Essay supervision schedule, the Theory of Knowledge dates, and for the IGCSE side the board, codes, tier, paper numbers and the centre's administrative zone. Those documents are what a twelve-month plan is built from, and both schools will give them to you if asked.

  2. 02

Take one free diagnostic session per child

Two different subject specialists, two diagnoses, no card details taken for either. Each establishes whether marks are going on content, method, command-term reading or timing. You keep both written summaries, which between them say which child needs weekly rhythm and which needs full papers.

  3. 03

Write the year on one page

Heavy in the autumn coursework cluster and in the eight weeks before each exam window; light at the start of the year and immediately after coursework clears. Every block gets an end date at the point it is agreed, so nothing becomes permanent by default.

  4. 04

    Protect the younger child's slot

One weekly session that is never the thing cancelled when the older child has a deadline, reduced to a short check-in in the worst weeks rather than dropped. The alternative is the familiar pattern of a Year 11 drifting for two terms while a Grade 12 is managed.

  5. 05

Settle the two rooms and the Ramadan plan

Two simultaneous video lessons need two quiet spaces, which in a Corniche flat means agreeing them in week one. Decide the Ramadan arrangement before the month begins: two late sessions stacked after Iftar work better than a month suspended and resumed in a hurry.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

A plan, not a postcode

What a two-board household needs is the year written down: where the calendars collide, where the quiet stretches are, and which block goes where. Proximity solves none of that, and no competitor page in this cluster publishes a twelve-month shape at all.

Two specialists at once

Because lessons run online, a Diploma Higher Level session and a Year 11 IGCSE session are two independent bookings with two different subject teachers, back to back. A single travelling tutor covering both children is a compromise on at least one of them.

The UAE year, not a template

Ramadan moves roughly eleven days earlier each year, so its position in the term changes annually; Eid, National Day and mid-term breaks sit inside terms rather than between them. A plan reused unchanged eventually puts its heaviest weeks in the month with the least capacity.

Sourced where sourced, silent where not

Cambridge and Pearson dates come from the boards' own pages with the month they were read. No IB exam or results date appears, because none has been verified from the board, and an unverified date a family plans around is worse than no date.

Predicted grades explained in time

Predictions are issued in the autumn of the final year and reflect work done before it, so tuition bought afterwards cannot change them. Saying that a year early is more useful than any amount of help offered a week late.

Limits stated, including ours

No promised grades, no admissions management, no self-published ratings, no syllabus documents as downloads, and no claim of approval from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ajman Corniche: your questions answered

What is the first thing a Corniche household with two exam-year children should do?+

Collect both schools' calendars in September. For the Diploma student that means the internal assessment dates for all six subjects, the Extended Essay supervision schedule and the Theory of Knowledge deadlines. For the IGCSE candidate it means the awarding body, the syllabus codes, the entry tier, the paper numbers and the centre's administrative zone. Both schools will supply these if asked in writing, and together they are what makes a twelve-month plan possible instead of a sequence of reactions.

Where do the IB and IGCSE calendars actually collide?+

In three places. The autumn of the Diploma's final year, when coursework in six subjects falls due alongside university applications and a Year 11 sibling's mocks. Results, which arrive in August for the IGCSE summer series and in January for the autumn one, each demanding a decision within a fortnight. And the spring, when the Diploma exam window and IGCSE revision overlap so neither child can be the priority. All three are knowable a year ahead.

How should a two-child household handle Ramadan?+

Stack two late sessions after Iftar rather than suspending the month. School hours shorten and the useful study window moves late, which is actually easier online than at any other point in the year because nobody is driving to a tower at nine in the evening. Decide it before the month begins. The failure mode is a month quietly dropped and then resumed in a rush, with a coursework deadline four weeks closer than the plan assumed.

Does Ramadan fall in the same part of the school year each time?+

No, and this is why a plan cannot simply be reused. Ramadan shifts roughly eleven days earlier against the Gregorian calendar each year, so its position inside the academic year moves: in some years it lands in a relatively quiet term and in others it sits immediately before an exam window. A twelve-month plan written once and repeated unchanged will eventually place its heaviest weeks inside the month with the least available capacity.

Both children have a deadline in the same week. What do we do?+

Decide the priority before the week arrives rather than inside it. Counted coursework outranks a diagnostic mock, because one has permanent consequences and the other produces information. Then protect the lower-priority child's slot in reduced form, as a twenty-minute check-in rather than a cancellation, so they do not learn that their work is the thing that gets dropped. And settle the two quiet rooms in advance, because a Corniche flat cannot improvise them.

What is the summer actually for in a two-board household?+

It is the only block nobody has already claimed, and three jobs suit it. The transition from Extended or Higher tier into a Diploma Higher Level course, which is a predictable subject-specific gap. Settling an internal assessment topic and method so the autumn cluster starts with a viable question. And closing a content gap the mocks exposed, which is the only time of year a student can learn new material without revising old material at the same time.

How long should a summer block be?+

Three or four weeks with two sessions a week, aimed at one named target, with a written handover at the end. What does not work is running a full programme through July and August: a student who studies all summer arrives in September already tired, and that costs more than the original gap would have. The discipline is to define the target before the block starts and to stop when it is met rather than when term begins.

When are predicted grades decided, and can tuition change them?+

They are issued in the autumn of the Diploma's final year and they reflect work already done, which means tuition bought after they are issued cannot change them. The window in which predictions are actually earned is the first Diploma year and the spring following it. That is a year earlier than most families realise, and it is the strongest argument for light, early, well-targeted work rather than a heavy intervention in the term the applications are written.

Why does the university application season make coursework harder?+

Because it consumes the same resource. Applications are written in the autumn of the final year, in the same weeks as the coursework cluster, and both need sustained independent writing from the student plus administrative attention from a parent. Destinations have different rhythms too: a UK centralised autumn cycle, separate UAE admission timelines with their own tests, and North American rounds with standardised tests booked months ahead. A household applying in two directions is managing two of those at once.

Can two children on the Corniche have sessions at the same time?+

Technically yes, and physically it is the harder half of the question. Two simultaneous video lessons need two quiet spaces, which in a seafront flat usually means one child in a bedroom and one at the dining table with the rest of the household elsewhere for forty-five minutes. Many families find consecutive slots easier than simultaneous ones: 4:15pm and 5:30pm concentrates the disruption into one evening and needs only one quiet room at a time.

Is it worth paying for a tutor nearby if we can get one online?+

For the IGCSE side there is a genuine local pool around the Corniche and either route can work, so choose on tier and mark-scheme familiarity. For Diploma Higher Level sciences and Economics the local pool in Ajman is close to empty, and some of the best-placed local teachers are barred from tutoring students at their own school in any case. Planning on online delivery for the Diploma side and either for the IGCSE side saves a term of fruitless searching.

What should we ask a tutor who claims to cover both systems?+

Four questions per system, then a fifth for the Diploma. Which syllabus code did you last teach and when; which papers did your students sit; which topics did that cohort lose marks on; and do you hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit. Then: have you supervised an internal assessment through to submission, and what did you not do for the student. The last question is the most revealing one available, and a clear answer to it matters more than a confident answer to the others.

How does the permit work, and should we check it more than once?+

The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, with MoHRE's own service page listing no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Because the validity is two years rather than indefinite, it is a reasonable thing to ask about again on a long engagement. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published.

Why are there no IB dates on this page when the IGCSE ones are specific?+

Because the sourcing is different. Cambridge and Pearson publish exam-administration pages that could be read and dated, so their positions appear here with the month they were read and with past dates keeping their year. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so no IB exam or results date in this project has been verified from the board itself. Publishing an unverified date that a household plans a year around would be worse than publishing none at all.

Can tuition help with university applications as well as subjects?+

That is a different service and it should be described as one. Tutors here teach subjects: content, papers, criteria and feedback on the student's own work. Nothing on this page is a claim to manage admissions, write or edit a personal statement, or influence an outcome at any institution, and no provider can promise a place. Where a family needs application support, look for somebody who does that work explicitly rather than treating it as an extra from a subject tutor.

Send both calendars, and we will write the year

If your household on Ajman Corniche is running a Diploma and an IGCSE at once, the thing worth asking for is not a nearby tutor but a plan. Send both schools' calendars, the Diploma deadline dates and the IGCSE board, codes, tier and zone, and tell us which rooms you have. The first session for each child is a free diagnosis on the real paper with no card details taken. What comes back is the year on one page: where the collisions are, where the quiet stretches sit, which block goes where, and the Ramadan arrangement already decided.
