IB IGCSE Home Tutor in Ajman

Families searching for an IB IGCSE home tutor in Ajman are usually running two curricula at once: one child in Year 10 or 11 on IGCSE, another in the Diploma, or a single child crossing from one to the other. The two do not cost the same. Published UAE rates put IGCSE support from about AED 150 an hour and Diploma support from about AED 200, and the gap widens again for Internal Assessment and Extended Essay supervision. This page prices the whole household.

  • Published IGCSE and Diploma rate bands shown separately, each attributed

IB & IGCSE in Ajman

Two curricula, one budget: where the money actually goes

The household this page is written for has two education bills running in parallel and no clean way to compare them. An IGCSE child needs subject support with a two-year horizon and a published exam series at the end. A Diploma child needs subject support plus coursework supervision plus a route decision in mathematics, across a programme that is longer, heavier and priced differently. Treating them as one line item called tutoring is how a family ends up spending evenly and solving nothing.

Start with the published rates, because the gap between the programmes is real and it is not arbitrary. Unitors publishes IGCSE support from AED 150 an hour and IB support from AED 200. Bestimate's 2026 rate table puts an IB, IGCSE or A-Level specialist at AED 200 to 450 and upwards, with an in-home one-to-one visit at AED 180 to 500 including travel. TutorChase publishes AED 270 and BartyED AED 650. At the lower end, EdFlik lists from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52, which are different products rather than bargains for the same thing.

The Diploma premium has three components and only one of them is prestige. The first is syllabus breadth: a DP subject tutor has to hold both the content and the assessment architecture, including how the Internal Assessment is marked against lettered criteria. The second is scarcity, which in Ajman and the northern emirates is severe for Diploma subjects, because the schools offering the Diploma are fewer and the teachers attached to them fewer still. The third is coursework supervision, which is slow, individual work that cannot be delivered to a group at any price.

There is a cost most households miss entirely until it arrives: the transition. A student finishing IGCSE and starting the Diploma is not continuing; they are changing the assessment model, the expected independence and the volume of written work at the same time. The gap between a strong IGCSE grade and a comfortable first DP term is usually weeks of specific work rather than months, and it is far cheaper handled in July and August than repaired in November, which is when most families first see it.

One point to settle before any budgeting. Tuition for UAE families is delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send a tutor to an address in Ajman, and home visits are a service offered only in India. For a two-curriculum household that removes the hardest scheduling problem in the whole arrangement, because two children needing different specialists on the same evening cannot both be served by somebody driving. Everything that follows is arithmetic you can check, built from rates other providers have published and attributed to them by name.

At a glance

  • Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 an hour and IB from AED 200
  • Bestimate puts IB, IGCSE and A-Level specialists at AED 200-450+, in-home AED 180-500
  • The Diploma premium is breadth, scarcity and coursework supervision, in that order
  • The IGCSE to Diploma transition is a cost most households do not budget for
  • Delivery is over live video; IB Gram offers no home visits in the UAE
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four programmes appear in Ajman households, each with a different funding shape. The one families underfund is the transition, and the one they overfund is the first year of the Diploma.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE, Years 10 and 11

Two years, a published exam series, and a clear end point. Funding is best concentrated on one to three subjects at a time rather than spread across nine, with the selection rotating as error logs close. Mathematics usually comes first because it underpins the sciences, and the second subject should be chosen from mock evidence.

Across Ajman the IGCSE tutor pool is deepest in Mathematics and English and thinnest in Additional Mathematics 0606 and Computer Science 0478. That matters for budgeting: the scarce components carry a premium, so a plan that needs one of them should be costed differently from one that needs 0580.

MYPAges 14-16 · MYP 4-5

IB Middle Years Programme, final years

Assessed against criteria rather than against papers, which produces students who reason well and have never sat a timed terminal examination. The Personal Project adds a supervised independent task. Support here is mostly about building examination stamina and the habit of writing to a criterion before the Diploma demands both at once.

Ajman families whose child is in MYP at a school in Dubai or Sharjah often arrive assuming the move into DP is a continuation. It is a change of assessment model. The useful spend is a short block in the final MYP year on timed writing and on reading a criterion descriptor, which is cheap and prevents an expensive first DP term.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment marked against lettered criteria with published mark allocations. The programme is two years long and the spending curve is not flat: the second year costs far more than the first.

The Diploma tutor pool in the northern emirates is genuinely thin, because the schools running DP are concentrated in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and the teachers with marking experience are attached to them. For an Ajman household this is the clearest case where delivery over video is not a preference but the only route to a Higher Level specialist.

TRANSAges 16 · Year 11 into Year 12

IGCSE or MYP into the Diploma

The cheapest high-value block on this list and the one most often skipped. Three to six weeks of specific work over the summer on the subjects where the entry point sits above the IGCSE exit point, plus the independence habits the Diploma assumes: reading a syllabus, planning a written response without a scaffold, and meeting an internal deadline nobody chases.

Ajman students moving into sixth form frequently change school and emirate at once, adding a longer commute and a new deadline culture to an already steep term. Doing the bridging work in July and August, while the family is still on an Ajman summer schedule, removes one variable from a transition that already has several.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The subjects below are the ones Ajman households fund across both curricula. For each, the note is about where the cost actually sits rather than about the content, because the content is not what makes one subject more expensive to support than another.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (IB DP)

HL and SL

The most expensive subject to support in the Diploma and the most commonly needed. HL carries Paper 3 and a proof-heavy content load, and the Internal Assessment exploration needs supervision that is slow and individual. Scarcity in the northern emirates is real, so this is where a budget gets tested first.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation (IB DP)

HL and SL

Cheaper to support at SL than AA SL in most cases, because the technology-led content suits a shorter session cycle. The route decision matters more than the rate though: some university programmes expect AA, and switching after the first term costs far more than getting the choice right.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Edexcel 4MA1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

The deepest pool and the most competitive rate across Ajman. A household funding both curricula should expect this to be the cheapest hour they buy, and should not use it as the benchmark for what a Diploma hour will cost.

Additional Mathematics (Cambridge 0606)

Single tier

A scarcity premium at IGCSE level, and the single best preparation for Maths AA HL. Funding 0606 properly in Year 11 frequently reduces the Diploma mathematics bill in Year 12, which is the clearest example of sequencing paying for itself.

Physics (IB DP and Cambridge 0625)

HL, SL, Core and Extended

At Diploma level the Internal Assessment investigation is where supervision hours concentrate, and those hours price higher than teaching hours. At IGCSE the written practical component is the undertaught block. Two different problems, two different rates, one subject name.

Chemistry (IB DP and Cambridge 0620)

HL, SL, Core and Extended

Diploma HL chemistry is among the most requested and least available subjects in the northern emirates. Expect the upper end of the published specialist band, and expect the Internal Assessment block to be costed separately from weekly teaching.

Biology (IB DP and Cambridge 0610)

HL, SL, Core and Extended

Moderate rates at both levels. The Diploma Internal Assessment is the cost driver, since a well-scoped investigation takes several supervision sessions before any data exists. Scoping early is the cheapest intervention available in the subject.

Economics (IB DP and Cambridge 0455)

HL, SL and IGCSE

At Diploma level the Internal Assessment commentaries are a discrete, datable block of work rather than an ongoing cost, which makes them easy to budget. The evaluation marks on Paper 1 and Paper 2 are where weekly teaching earns its keep.

Business Management (IB DP) and Business Studies (0450)

HL, SL and IGCSE

Reasonable supply at both levels. The Diploma HL research project is a supervision cost; the IGCSE case-study application is a teaching cost. Families regularly assume the two are interchangeable and budget one rate for both.

English A: Language and Literature (IB DP)

HL and SL

The Individual Oral and the Higher Level essay are the expensive components, because both need repeated feedback on the student's own drafts rather than content delivery. Fortnightly cycles work better than weekly ones here, which lowers the monthly figure.

English as a First Language (Cambridge 0500)

Single tier

Wide apparent supply, narrow real supply. The marking skill is band-referenced annotation of directed writing, and most of the local field cannot demonstrate it. Ask for a marked script with band references before accepting any rate.

Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Internal Assessment supervision

IB DP, all subjects

Priced as blocks rather than as weekly hours, because the work is episodic: scoping, then a draft, then feedback, then a redraft. Every session here is feedback on work the student has written. Nothing is supplied for submission, and the student signs an authentication statement to that effect.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways a two-curriculum household buys, each priced on a different logic. All run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, which is what makes two separate specialists on one evening possible at all.

Weekly subject teaching

The standard weekly hour on a named subject, priced against the published hourly bands for that programme. IGCSE and Diploma hours are quoted separately because they are not the same product. For a household with both, the sensible pattern is weekly on whichever child is closest to a terminal examination and fortnightly on the other.

  • Quoted separately per programme, not at one blended rate
  • Weekly for the child nearest an examination series, fortnightly for the other
  • Marked work and an error tally from every session, per child
  • Billed monthly, nothing prepaid, reschedulable inside the month

Coursework supervision block

A datable block for an Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay, structured as scoping, draft, feedback, redraft rather than as a weekly hour. It is episodic work and pricing it as a monthly retainer wastes money in the quiet weeks. Every session is feedback on text the student has written themselves.

  • Priced as a block with a stated number of sessions and dates
  • Scoping session first, because a bad research question costs the most
  • Criteria explained by letter, with the mark allocation attached
  • Nothing supplied for submission; the student authors every word

Transition block

Three to six sessions in July and August for a student moving from IGCSE or MYP into the Diploma, aimed at the specific subjects where the entry point sits above the exit point. It is the cheapest block in this list and the one with the highest return, because it prevents a first-term deficit that takes a year to clear.

  • Subject-by-subject gap list agreed before the block starts
  • Independence habits: reading a syllabus, planning without a scaffold
  • Fixed finish date before term begins, with no rollover
  • Priced at the IGCSE band rather than the Diploma band

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ajman

01

Why a Diploma hour costs more than an IGCSE hour in this market

  • Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200, same provider, clean comparison
  • Breadth, scarcity and supervision drive the premium, with scarcity dominant in Ajman
  • Coursework supervision cannot be delivered to a group at any price
  • Every figure here is the market's, attributed, and none of it is an IB Gram price list

The gap is visible in the published figures. Unitors lists IGCSE support from AED 150 an hour and IB support from AED 200, which is a clean comparison because it is the same provider quoting both. Bestimate's rate table groups IB, IGCSE and A-Level specialists together at AED 200 to 450 and upwards, with in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 500 including travel. TutorChase publishes AED 270. At the top of the market BartyED lists AED 650. None of those are our prices; each is attributed to the provider that published it, researched in October 2026.

Three things drive the Diploma premium. Breadth is the first: a DP subject tutor needs the content, the paper structure, the Higher Level extensions and the Internal Assessment criteria, which are marked against lettered descriptors with published mark allocations. Teaching the content without being able to mark against those criteria leaves the coursework component untouched, and the coursework component is a substantial share of the subject grade.

Scarcity is the second and in Ajman it dominates. The schools running the Diploma in the UAE are concentrated in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, so the teachers with marking experience are attached to those schools and those cities. A twenty-minute evening radius from an Ajman address contains very few of them and frequently none for a Higher Level science. That scarcity is priced, and it is priced more steeply the further north you are.

The third is the nature of supervision. Coursework supervision is slow, individual and cannot be delivered to a group. A scoping conversation about a research question takes as long as it takes, and the value of it is entirely in the specificity. That work sits at the top of any sensible rate card, and it should be bought as a dated block rather than as an open weekly commitment.

One household, two curricula: a worked Ajman budget

Abstract bands are not a budget. So here is the arithmetic for a realistic Ajman household: one child in Year 11 on IGCSE carrying nine subjects, one child in Year 13 on the Diploma with three Higher Level subjects, both sitting terminal examinations in the same academic year. That is the hardest version of the problem and it is common in the Emirates Road communities.

The first discipline is to stop funding evenly. Two children do not have equal need in the same term, and splitting the money down the middle guarantees that neither gets enough to move anything. The Year 13 Diploma child has the shorter runway and the higher stakes, so the autumn money concentrates there, including a dated supervision block for whichever Internal Assessment is furthest behind. The Year 11 child gets one subject weekly, usually Mathematics, with a second added from mock evidence in the new year.

Apply the published monthly bands to that shape and the household figure becomes visible. A Higher Level Diploma subject at one to two sessions a week sits in the AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above band in an exam year. An IGCSE subject at one session a week sits at AED 600 to 1,200 in the mid band. Add a supervision block priced separately, and an exam-year household total in the region of AED 2,000 to 3,500 a month across both children is a realistic planning figure rather than a worst case.

The table works three household scenarios through to a monthly figure. The numbers are built from the published bands attributed earlier and from Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions, which run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. They are planning figures, not quotations.

The IGCSE to Diploma gap, subject by subject

One competitor page in the researched set has a single subheading on the IGCSE to IB gap. Nobody has a structured subject-by-subject version, which is odd, because it is the most predictable expense in the whole two-curriculum budget and the easiest to plan for.

The gap is not uniform. In mathematics it is large and specific: a student arriving at Maths AA HL from IGCSE 0580 Extended without 0606 is missing calculus fluency and proof technique, and will spend the first term catching up on both while new content arrives. In the sciences the gap is less about content and more about the investigation: a DP Internal Assessment demands a scoped research question, controlled variables and an uncertainty treatment that IGCSE never asked for. In English it is about independent critical argument rather than directed response.

The practical point is that these gaps have durations, and the durations are short if the work is done before term starts and long if it is done during term. Three to six focused sessions in July and August, at the IGCSE rather than the Diploma rate, routinely prevent a first-term deficit that then needs a year of Diploma-rate hours to clear. For an Ajman family also absorbing a new school and a longer commute, doing it in the summer is the only point at which the week has room in it.

The table maps the common routes. The weeks column is an honest typical range for a student who did reasonably well at IGCSE, not a promise, and a student who scraped the grade will need more.

Internal Assessment, Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge as a line item

  • Buy supervision as a dated block, not as a weekly retainer
  • The scoping session is the highest-value hour in the whole component
  • Criteria explained by letter with mark allocations; drafts marked, never written
  • Providers selling finished coursework are selling a malpractice risk at a premium

Coursework supervision is the part of a Diploma budget that families either overfund as a weekly retainer or ignore until a deadline is three weeks away. Neither is right. The work is episodic: a scoping conversation, a period where the student does the work alone, feedback on a complete draft, a redraft. Priced as a block with dates, it is predictable. Priced as a monthly hour, half of it is paid for in weeks where there is nothing to look at.

The scoping session is where the money earns the most, and it is the one families skip. A poorly chosen research question or investigation cannot be rescued by effort later: it limits the marks available before a word is written, because the criteria reward focus and a question that is too broad cannot be answered within the word limit. The Extended Essay has a 4,000-word upper limit, and an unfocused question guarantees that the limit arrives before the argument does.

Now the boundary, which is not negotiable and is a genuine point of difference in this market. A tutor may explain the assessment criteria by letter with the mark allocations attached, discuss a plan, teach the skills the task requires, give feedback on a complete draft the student has written, and hold the student to a timetable. A tutor may not supply sentences, restructure a piece so that the authorship changes, or hand over a model to be adapted. The student authors every word and signs an authentication statement saying so.

This market contains providers that cross that line commercially: one advertises finished Internal Assessments at a fixed price. Buying that exposes the student to a malpractice finding that can cost the entire Diploma, and the family has paid a premium for the risk. There is no version of it that is a shortcut. It is a different and much worse outcome, purchased at the top of the rate card.

05

MYP into DP: the change of assessment model nobody budgets for

  • MYP produces strong reasoning and no experience of writing against a clock
  • The deficit usually surfaces in the first DP mock, by which time the term is set
  • Four to six sessions on timed writing and criterion reading is the cheap fix
  • The Personal Project is a cheap rehearsal for the Extended Essay, if treated as one

For Ajman families whose child is in the Middle Years Programme at a school in Dubai or Sharjah, the move into the Diploma looks like a continuation and is not. MYP assesses against criteria, with tasks designed to be approached thoughtfully over time. The Diploma adds terminal examinations to that, sat under timing, where a well-reasoned answer that arrives in the last two minutes scores nothing.

What that produces is a specific and recognisable student: articulate, conceptually confident, and completely untrained in writing to a clock. They are not weak and they have not fallen behind. They have never been asked to do the thing the Diploma will grade them on, and they discover it in the first set of DP mock papers, usually in the November of Year 12, by which time the term has already shaped their confidence.

The cheap intervention is a short block in the final MYP year or the summer afterwards on two things only: timed writing, and reading a criterion descriptor to work out what the top band actually asks for. Both are mechanical skills that respond quickly. Four to six sessions is a typical range, bought at the lower end of the rate card because it is skills work rather than Higher Level subject teaching.

The Personal Project is worth a mention while on the subject, because it is the student's first experience of a supervised independent task with a process journal. Families who treat it as a school formality miss a cheap rehearsal for the Extended Essay. The same boundary applies to it as to every assessed piece: the project is the student's own work, and support means explaining criteria and giving feedback on what the student has produced.

06

Maths AA or AI: the route choice that changes the bill and the options

  • AA and AI are different subjects, not two difficulty settings of one
  • AA HL is the most expensive Diploma subject to support in the northern emirates
  • Read the target universities' own published requirements before the option block
  • Funding 0606 in Year 11 is the cheapest preparation for AA HL there is

No decision in a Diploma budget matters more than this one, and it is usually made on the basis of which option the school timetables most conveniently. Analysis and Approaches is the algebraic, proof-oriented route; Applications and Interpretation is modelling-led and technology-heavy. Both exist at Higher and Standard Level, and they are genuinely different subjects rather than two difficulty settings of one.

The cost consequence is direct. AA HL is the most expensive Diploma subject to support in this market, because the content load is heavy, the specialist pool is thin in the northern emirates and the Internal Assessment exploration needs real supervision. AI SL is at the other end. A household that funds AA HL for a student who would have been well served by AI HL is spending at the top of the rate card for a mismatch, and the student is usually unhappy as well.

The admissions consequence matters more and has to be checked rather than assumed. Some university programmes, particularly in engineering, mathematics, physics and economics, specify the Analysis and Approaches route or a Higher Level mathematics requirement. Which programmes, at which universities, in which year, is a question for the university's own published entry requirements and the school's careers adviser, not for a tutoring page. What this page can say is that the requirement should be read before the option block is chosen, because changing route after the first term is expensive in both money and confidence.

The honest sequencing advice is cheaper than any of it: fund Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606 properly in Year 11 if AA HL is the likely destination. It is the single best preparation available, it is bought at the IGCSE band rather than the Diploma band, and it routinely reduces the Year 12 mathematics bill. That is the clearest case in this whole page where spending earlier costs less overall.

Why this is delivered online, and what that does to a two-child budget

  • Two children can have two different specialists on the same evening, at eight and nine
  • The in-home travel premium is paid twice in a two-child household
  • A quiet space per child is the real constraint, and often means different evenings
  • Where a screen genuinely will not work for one child, a local provider is better for that child

IB Gram delivers UAE tuition one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. There are no home visits anywhere in the UAE; home visits exist only in India. For a household running two curricula, that constraint turns out to solve the arrangement's hardest problem rather than creating one.

Consider what the in-home version requires. Two children need two different specialists: a Diploma Higher Level chemist and an IGCSE mathematician, say. Both would have to travel to an Ajman address, on an evening, from wherever they live, which is mostly Dubai or Sharjah. Either they come on different evenings, which consumes two evenings and two travel premiums, or one tutor is asked to cover both, which means neither child gets a specialist. Over video, both sessions can happen on the same evening at eight and nine, with two actual specialists, and nothing is paid for travel.

There is a money effect on top of the logistics one. The published in-home band of AED 180 to 500 against the online band of AED 150 to 300 is largely a travel reimbursement, and in a two-child household that reimbursement is being paid twice. Removing it is the difference between funding one child properly and funding both adequately, which for a family with two examination years running simultaneously is the decision the whole budget turns on.

The trade-offs stand and are worth repeating in this context. A screen is worse for a younger child who needs an adult in the room. It needs a quiet space per child, which in a Corniche apartment with two students is genuinely hard and usually means different evenings. It needs a visible writing surface for mathematics. Where those cannot be arranged, a local in-home provider is the better purchase for that child, and we would rather say so than take the money.

08

Sequencing the spend: which child gets the money this term

  • Fund by runway: the child nearest a terminal examination gets the concentrated money
  • Year 9 and Year 11 spending is cheaper than Year 12 and Year 13 spending for the same result
  • A summer transition block prevents a first Diploma term that needs a year to repair
  • KHDA confirmed no Dubai private school fee increase for 2026-27, announced May 2026

This is the question families actually arrive with, and it has a defensible answer. Fund by runway, not by fairness. The child closest to a terminal examination gets the concentrated money, because marks recovered in the final year cannot be recovered later and marks available in Year 10 can.

That produces an uncomfortable but correct order in most Ajman households. A Year 13 Diploma student with three Higher Level subjects and an Internal Assessment behind schedule takes the autumn budget. A Year 11 IGCSE student takes one subject weekly through the same period, with a second added in the new year from mock evidence. A Year 10 student takes the cheapest intervention available, usually a short block on a single recurring fault, because the runway is long and the fault will otherwise harden.

Then there is the reverse sequencing argument, which is the one that saves the most money and gets ignored. Spending in Year 9 and Year 11 is cheaper than spending in Year 12 and Year 13 for the same outcome. Year 9 work buys tier access for IGCSE; Additional Mathematics 0606 in Year 11 buys a cheaper AA HL in Year 12; a transition block in the summer buys a first Diploma term that does not need repairing. A household that plans two years ahead spends less in total than one reacting to each report.

Finally, a figure that belongs in any UAE education budget as context. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a household with a Diploma child commuting into Dubai, a flat fee year is the right year to fund the tutoring properly, because the rest of the bill is not moving.

For a household funding two curricula, what varies between Ajman communities is how many separate specialists the evening has to accommodate and what time the second child can realistically start.

Al Nuaimiya

Short school runs mean the first session can start by 6.30pm and a second child can follow at eight. The most workable part of the emirate for a two-child, two-curriculum evening.

Al Rashidiya

Two children in different schools on different curricula is the norm here rather than the exception. Sessions are staggered across different evenings instead of stacked, which spreads the monthly cost more evenly.

Al Jurf

Longer internal journeys compress the usable evening. Households here often fund one child intensively for a term and the other the term after, which is usually the right decision anyway.

Al Mowaihat

Villa households with Dubai and Sharjah commutes. The Diploma child's session normally takes the later slot, because Diploma work tolerates a late start better than Year 10 content does.

Al Zahya and Al Tallah

The communities most likely to be running an IGCSE child and a Diploma child at once, with access to Dubai and Sharjah schools. Also where the two-curriculum budget question comes up most often.

Al Helio and Al Rawda

Quiet by eight and close to the local school cluster, so two sessions on one evening is practical. That makes a concentrated month cheaper to arrange here than elsewhere.

Ajman Corniche and Al Rumailah

Apartment living where two children cannot both have a quiet room at once. The usual answer is one weekday evening each and weekend mornings for timed work.

Emirates City and Al Alia

The latest arrival times in Ajman, so a two-session evening rarely fits. Diploma supervision blocks are often moved to weekends here, which suits episodic coursework work well.

Al Yasmeen and Al Zorah

Space for two study areas and quiet evenings, which is the ideal setup for parallel sessions. The constraint is specialist availability rather than anything domestic.

Masfout and Manama

The inland exclaves, where no Diploma Higher Level specialist is reachable by car on any weekly basis. For these households the delivery format is not a preference at all.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Ajman

Ajman schools and the IGCSE side of the household

Most Ajman enrolment sits on British and Indian curriculum routes, so the IGCSE child is usually at a school in the emirate while the Diploma child commutes. That split is what creates the two-timetable problem.

  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Ajman
  • Ibn Seena English High School, Ajman
  • Habitat School, Ajman
  • Ajman Modern School
  • Al Ameer English School, Ajman
  • Ajman Private School

Ajman and Emirates Road schools with international programmes

The belt where an international programme is available closer to home. Families here face a shorter commute and the same specialist scarcity for Higher Level subjects.

  • Ajman Academy
  • Pace British School, Ajman
  • The City School International, Ajman
  • Scholars Indian School, Ajman

Sharjah and Dubai schools Ajman Diploma students commute to

Where the Diploma child is enrolled outside the emirate, the day ends later and the supervision sessions move to weekends. Students we support attend schools across this group; no relationship with any of them is implied.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • The International School of Creative Science, Sharjah
  • GEMS Millennium School, Sharjah
  • Delhi Private School, Sharjah
  • The Westminster School, Dubai

Schools are named purely as context for the Ajman education market; no affiliation, endorsement or commercial relationship with any school is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    List both children's programmes

Send the Diploma child's six subjects with levels, and the IGCSE child's subjects with syllabus codes from the school's entry statement. Say which examination year each is in. The sequencing conversation cannot happen without both, and sequencing is where most of the saving is.

  2. 02

Name the deadlines, not just the subjects

Internal Assessment and Extended Essay internal deadlines come from the school, not from us, and they determine when supervision blocks have to sit. A family that sends the deadline calendar gets a plan; one that sends only subject names gets a guess.

  3. 03

Take a free session per child

One full lesson at no cost for each child, spent on marked work rather than introductions. For the Diploma child that usually means a past-paper question or an existing coursework draft; for the IGCSE child, a question set. Both produce a written diagnosis you keep.

  4. 04

    Concentrate rather than split

Agree which child gets the weekly money this term and which gets fortnightly or nothing, based on runway. Splitting evenly between two children is the most common way a two-curriculum budget is spent without either grade moving.

  5. 05

Review and reallocate at six weeks

Written reviews per child at week six, then a decision about where the money goes next. Billed monthly with no joining fee, so reallocating costs nothing. Supervision blocks are quoted separately with dates attached rather than rolled into a monthly figure.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Programmes priced separately

IGCSE and Diploma hours are quoted against their own published bands rather than at one blended rate, because they are different products. Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200 is the cleanest illustration of that gap in the market.

Two specialists on one evening

A Diploma Higher Level specialist for one child and an IGCSE specialist for the other, on the same evening, with no travel paid twice. That is only possible because delivery is over live video, and for a two-curriculum household it is the practical argument.

Supervision as a dated block

Internal Assessment, Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge work is episodic, so it is priced as a block with dates rather than as a weekly retainer that bills in the quiet weeks. The scoping session comes first, because that is where the marks are decided.

The transition is treated as a real cost

Three to six summer sessions at the IGCSE band routinely prevent a first Diploma term that then takes a year of Diploma-band hours to repair. Nobody in the researched competitor set prices this transition at all.

A hard line on assessed work

Criteria are explained by letter with mark allocations attached, and the student's own drafts are marked against them. Nothing is supplied for submission and no model is handed over to be adapted, which is the line a provider in this market crosses commercially.

Sequencing advice that costs us money

The honest advice is often to spend earlier and less: fund 0606 in Year 11 rather than AA HL repair in Year 12, and fund a summer block rather than an autumn rescue. That reduces what a household spends with us, and it is still the right advice.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ajman: your questions answered

Why does an IB tutor cost more per hour than an IGCSE tutor in Ajman?+

Three reasons, and only one is reputation. Breadth: a Diploma subject tutor needs the content, the paper structure, the Higher Level extensions and the Internal Assessment criteria, which are marked against lettered descriptors. Scarcity: the schools running the Diploma in the UAE cluster in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, so the teachers with marking experience are attached to them and are thin on the ground in the northern emirates. Supervision: coursework work is slow and individual and cannot be delivered to a group. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200, which is the same provider quoting both.

We have one child on IGCSE and one on the IB Diploma. What should we budget?+

Use the published monthly bands rather than hourly rates. An IGCSE subject at one session a week sits around AED 600 to 1,200 a month in the mid band on Bestimate's estimates. A Higher Level Diploma subject in an exam year sits in the AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above band. A household with both children in examination years, funding one subject each weekly plus one coursework supervision block, should plan for roughly AED 2,000 to 3,500 a month. Those are planning figures from published market data, not quotations, and the real figure depends on which subjects.

How much support does the IGCSE to Diploma transition actually need?+

Less than you would fear and more than nothing. For a student who did reasonably well at IGCSE, the typical ranges are four to eight weeks for Maths AA HL coming from 0580 Extended without 0606, four to six for a Higher Level science because of the investigation requirements, three to five for English A, and two to four for Maths AA SL or Economics. The crucial point is when: done in July and August at the IGCSE rate it is a cheap block, and done during the first Diploma term at the Diploma rate it costs several times as much.

Can a tutor supervise an Extended Essay without crossing the line?+

Yes, and the line is clear enough to state. A tutor may explain the assessment criteria by letter with the mark allocations attached, discuss and sharpen a research question, teach the research and referencing skills the task needs, give feedback on a complete draft the student has written, and hold the student to the school's internal deadlines. A tutor may not supply sentences, restructure a piece so that authorship changes, or provide a model to be adapted. The student authors every word and signs an authentication statement. Providers advertising finished coursework are selling a malpractice risk.

What does Internal Assessment support cost as a separate block?+

It should be quoted as a block with a stated number of sessions and dates rather than as a monthly hour, because the work is episodic: scoping, then the student works alone, then feedback on a draft, then a redraft. Published specialist rates in the UAE run AED 200 to 450 and upwards per hour, and supervision sits at the upper end because it is individual and slow. The highest-value session is the first one. A research question that is too broad limits the marks available before anything is written, and no amount of later effort recovers that.

Is Maths AA or AI cheaper to support through the Diploma?+

AI is materially cheaper, especially at Standard Level, because the content load is lighter and the specialist pool is wider. AA Higher Level is the most expensive Diploma subject to support in the northern emirates: heavy content, thin local supply and an exploration that needs real supervision. But cost is the wrong first question. Some university programmes specify the Analysis and Approaches route or a Higher Level mathematics requirement, and that has to be read from the university's own published entry requirements before the option block is chosen. Switching route after the first term is the expensive outcome.

My child is moving from MYP to DP. Is tutoring needed in the gap?+

Often a short block, aimed at two specific things. MYP assesses against criteria over time and produces students who reason well and have never written against a clock. The Diploma adds terminal examinations where a good answer arriving in the last two minutes scores nothing. Four to six sessions on timed writing and on reading a criterion descriptor to find what the top band actually asks for usually covers it, bought at the lower end of the rate card because it is skills work. Without it, the deficit surfaces in the first DP mock.

Can one tutor take my IGCSE child and my Diploma child?+

In the same subject family, sometimes, and it should be checked rather than assumed. A mathematician who has marked both Cambridge 0580 Paper 4 and Diploma Maths AA SL can reasonably take both children, because the content ladder is continuous. Across the sciences it is less often sensible, since a Diploma Internal Assessment investigation and an IGCSE written practical paper are different teaching jobs. Two separate records still have to come out of it, one per child. Send both sets of subjects and codes and we will say honestly whether one tutor fits.

How many hours does a two-year IB Diploma plan realistically take?+

It depends on how many subjects are funded, which should be fewer than six. A workable shape is one Higher Level subject supported weekly through Year 12, two through the exam year, plus one or two dated supervision blocks for the Internal Assessments that are furthest behind and one for the Extended Essay. That is roughly 60 to 100 teaching hours across two years rather than the 200 a family sometimes imagines. The spending curve is not flat: the second year costs substantially more than the first, and planning for that avoids a cash surprise.

Should we fund the IGCSE child or the Diploma child first?+

Fund by runway rather than by fairness. Marks in a final examination year cannot be recovered afterwards; marks available in Year 10 can. So a Year 13 Diploma student with Higher Level subjects and an Internal Assessment behind schedule takes the concentrated autumn money, while a Year 11 IGCSE student takes one subject weekly and adds a second from mock evidence in the new year. Splitting the budget evenly between two children is the commonest way a household spends a year's tutoring money without either grade moving.

Does the UAE Ministry of Education accept the IB Diploma for equivalency?+

The equivalency process exists for international certificates, but no points threshold for the IB should be taken from a tutoring page, including this one. The published British-track rule is specific: five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. For the IB figure, read the Ministry's own channels or the emirate attestation authority directly. Tutoring is not part of the process and nobody can perform it for you.

Are IB tutors in Ajman harder to find than IGCSE tutors?+

Considerably, and it is a supply fact rather than a marketing line. Diploma provision in the UAE concentrates in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, so teachers with Diploma marking experience are attached to schools in those cities. A weekday-evening driving radius from an Ajman address contains very few of them and frequently none for a Higher Level science. For households in Al Zorah, Masfout or Manama there is effectively no local Diploma option at any rate, which is why delivery over live video is the practical route rather than the preferred one.

What is the word limit on a Diploma Extended Essay?+

The Extended Essay has a 4,000-word upper limit, and that limit is the reason the research question matters more than the writing. A question that is too broad cannot be answered inside 4,000 words, so the essay runs out of space before the argument lands and the criteria that reward focus and analysis score poorly. This is why the scoping session is the highest-value hour in the whole component. For the current requirements of any assessed component, read the school's own guidance and the official subject documentation rather than a summary on a tutoring site.

Do IB tutoring rates rise in the final year of the Diploma?+

The hourly rate for a given tutor usually does not, but the household's monthly figure rises sharply, which feels the same. Two things drive it. More subjects need support at once in the second year, and the coursework supervision blocks land in the same months. Bestimate's monthly estimates for specialist exam-year support run AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above per subject, against AED 600 to 1,200 in the mid band. Planning for a second year that costs materially more than the first is the single most useful piece of Diploma budgeting a family can do.

Can we pause Diploma tutoring during the IA deadline weeks?+

Yes, and it is often the right call. In the weeks when a student is actually producing an Internal Assessment draft, what they need is uninterrupted working time rather than more teaching, and a weekly session in that window is money spent on a conversation nobody has capacity for. The supervision model is built around it: a scoping session, a gap while the student works, feedback on the complete draft, then a redraft. Billing is monthly with nothing prepaid, so pausing and restarting costs nothing and needs no negotiation.

Price the household, not the hour

Send both children's programmes: the Diploma child's six subjects with levels and the school's internal coursework deadlines, and the IGCSE child's subjects with syllabus codes from the entry statement. That is enough for a sequencing conversation, which is where most of the saving in a two-curriculum budget actually comes from. Each child gets a free first session spent on marked work rather than introductions, and a written diagnosis you keep. Sessions run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, billed monthly, with supervision blocks quoted separately and dated.
