IB & IGCSE in Baniyas

The home-tutoring question, answered properly

Families in Baniyas search for a home tutor because it is the obvious shape of the thing: somebody arrives, sits with the child at the table, teaches for an hour, leaves. It is a reasonable mental model and it is worth examining honestly rather than dismissing, because for some students it is genuinely the right format and for most Diploma students it is not the format that decides the grade.

Start with what it costs. Published in-home rates in this emirate run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table and from AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors, read in October 2026. A qualified subject tutor teaching online is published at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour on agency rate pages. The gap between those two bands is not a quality premium. It is a journey, and in Baniyas — a large mainland district some thirty kilometres from the island, laid out across eastern and western sectors with Mussafah and Al Shawamekh nearby — the journey is long and the afternoon traffic is unpredictable.

Then consider what the hour contains. A visiting tutor's hour is an hour of teaching. What decides a Diploma grade is largely what happens between hours: the student's own written work, produced, marked against the published criteria, and returned with the specific reason each mark was lost. That part of the service is independent of whether anybody drove anywhere, and it is the part the cheaper end of the market leaves out entirely. A family comparing a visiting tutor at AED 300 with an online specialist at AED 250 should be asking which one marks written work, not which one is in the room.

So the plain statement: IB Gram does not offer home visits in Baniyas or anywhere else in the UAE, because home visiting is a service we run only in India. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. We think that is the better purchase for a Diploma household here, and the argument is above rather than asserted. There are students for whom it is the wrong answer — younger children, students who need physical supervision to stay on task, students for whom a screen is itself a barrier — and we would rather establish that in a free trial than in month three.

The rest of this page is the material a Baniyas family can actually use. The cost comparison in a table with its sources. What the address within Baniyas changes and what it does not. Where a household's limited hours should go across six Diploma subjects. The supervision roles split out, so that nobody is confused about who does what with an Extended Essay. The honest version of the home-versus-online decision. How to decide between tuition and a school change. A setup checklist for the first month. And the limits we work inside.

One note on figures throughout. Every AED band quoted here belongs to the market, is attributed to a named published source and was read in October 2026. None of it is IB Gram's price list, and no statistic appears on this page without a source and a date behind it.

At a glance

  • In-home visiting carries a travel loading of roughly AED 30 to 200 an hour against published online rates
  • What decides a Diploma grade is largely the marked written work between lessons
  • A school supervisor, a private tutor and the student have distinct, non-overlapping roles
  • Online delivery suits most secondary students and genuinely does not suit all of them
  • Lessons are one-to-one over live video; IB Gram runs no home visits in the UAE
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Baniyas students reach the Diploma by several routes, and a household's decision about hours depends on which. Each route arrives with a different profile of gaps.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, graded one to seven per subject against a forty-five point total. Every subject carries internally assessed work marked against published criteria, so the year is a chain of deadlines as much as a run-up to examinations.

For a Baniyas household the practical consequence is that hours have to be rationed across six subjects plus three core components, and most families ration them badly by spreading thinly. The subject-group table on this page is an attempt to make that rationing decision explicit rather than instinctive.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Criterion-referenced assessment across eight subject groups, graded one to eight against four criteria per subject. Students arrive in DP1 fluent in reflection and inquiry language, which serves them well in the internally assessed work and less well in the timed written papers.

The pattern we see most often from this route is a student who writes thoughtfully and runs out of time. That is a procedural problem rather than a comprehension one, and it responds to timed practice far faster than to further teaching of content the student already understands.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge or Pearson IGCSE

Terminal written papers with minimal coursework, tiered by board. Students arrive in the Diploma with strong examination technique and no experience of a long independent piece of assessed work, which is why the exploration or investigation is the first thing to go wrong for them.

Where a Baniyas student changes school between Year 11 and DP1 — common where local provision ends earlier — the handover of information between schools is imperfect. A marked IGCSE script in a parent's hand is often the only diagnostic record that travels with the child.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Career-related Programme

A smaller route combining Diploma courses with a career-related study and a core of its own, available at a limited number of schools. Where it is offered it suits students who want a vocational anchor alongside academic subjects rather than six academic subjects.

Availability in Abu Dhabi is limited and varies year to year, so a family interested in it should ask schools directly rather than assume. ADEK's published inspection outcomes describe whole-school performance; programme availability is a separate question for the admissions office.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Six Diploma subjects and three core components compete for the same household hours. These notes say where tuition tends to repay the money and where it tends not to, which is information a provider has no commercial incentive to give.

Mathematics

AA and AI, HL and SL

Consistently the highest-return Diploma subject for tuition, because the faults are specific and diagnosable and the exploration is twenty marks the student fully controls. Higher Level Paper 3 is the least practised component in the whole Diploma and worth a fifth of the grade.

Chemistry

SL and HL

Good return. Organic mechanisms and energetics carry the marks, and Paper 2 demands a style of reasoning that students rarely practise in writing. The scientific investigation is marked on design rather than on tidy results, which is a correctable misunderstanding.

Physics

SL and HL

Strong return where mathematics is the hidden obstacle, which it often is. A physics problem a student cannot begin is frequently an algebra problem, and a tutor who establishes that first avoids a term spent teaching the wrong subject.

Biology

SL and HL

Return depends entirely on method. Students who revise by reading plateau; students who write answers against published criteria improve. A tutor whose sessions are explanation rather than marked writing adds little here, however knowledgeable.

Economics

SL and HL

Good return, because the faults are structural: diagrams drawn imprecisely, evaluation missing, commentaries that summarise a published article rather than applying a theory to it. All three are correctable within a handful of sessions.

English A Language and Literature

SL and HL

High return where feedback is on the student's own writing and low return where lessons discuss technique in the abstract. The Individual Oral is a specific assessed task that students almost never rehearse under conditions.

Business Management

SL and HL

Moderate return. The common fault is describing an organisation rather than answering the question asked about it, and the quantitative content catches students who chose the subject expecting to avoid numbers.

Theory of Knowledge

Diploma core

Disproportionately good return and almost nobody buys it. Ten marks for the essay and ten for the exhibition against published instruments, with word limits of sixteen hundred and nine hundred and fifty, and very little structured teaching on how the instrument is applied.

Extended Essay

Diploma core

Thirty-four marks with critical thinking alone worth twelve, and a four thousand word ceiling beyond which nothing is marked. Best supported at the research question and first draft stages; support in the final week mostly rearranges an argument that is already fixed.

A second or third language

SL and HL

Variable, and dependent on specialist availability rather than on the subject. Where no specialist in a given language and level is available in the emirate we say so rather than filling the slot with a generalist speaker of it.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements, all delivered over live video. Each is defined by what it includes rather than by how long it lasts, because inclusion is what separates the products in this market.

Weekly one-to-one with marked written work

One live video lesson a week with the same subject specialist, plus written work set with an instruction about what to show, returned marked against the published criteria. The marking is the part that moves the grade; the lesson directs it.

  • A written diagnosis in the first week naming the specific faults found
  • Work marked against published criteria rather than ticked
  • A review date with a measure attached rather than an impression

Core component blocks

Short runs of sessions on Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay or an internal assessment, timed to the school's published deadlines. Bounded, inexpensive relative to a term, and aimed at components most households never budget for despite the marks involved.

  • Criteria taught by letter with mark allocations and word limits
  • Feedback on the student's own draft; no text supplied for submission
  • Sessions placed at the research question and first draft stages

Two-subject arrangement for an examination year

Where two subjects are genuinely at risk in DP2, two specialists on different days so written work has room to happen between them. We cap at two in a term, because beyond that the student's own week becomes the limiting factor rather than the teaching.

  • A stated limit agreed in advance rather than open-ended addition
  • Sessions on separate days to protect the written practice
  • Both reviewed together against marked evidence

01

What a home tutor in Baniyas costs, and what the hour contains

The table sets the three formats side by side with published figures and their sources. The important column is the last one, because it names what is included beyond the hour, and that is where the real differences sit.

The travel component is worth isolating. Published in-home rates run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in survey data and from AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors. Published online rates for a qualified subject tutor sit at roughly AED 150 to 300. On the same teaching quality, the difference is a journey — and from Baniyas it is a long one, so the loading sits toward the upper end of those ranges rather than the middle. A family paying it should at least know that is what they are buying.

The inclusion question cuts across all three formats and matters more than any of them. Ask any provider who marks written work between sessions and against what. A tutor who reviews work verbally in the lesson is providing a different and cheaper service than one who marks a script against the published criteria and returns it annotated. Both are legitimate; they are not the same thing and they should not be the same price.

On monthly figures, which are more useful for a household budget than hourly ones: the same survey estimates AED 240 to 600 a month for a weekly one-hour session at budget level, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-market and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. Packages advertised in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. All of these were read in October 2026 and none of them is our price list.

02

Baniyas East, Baniyas West, and what the address changes

Baniyas is not one place. It is a large mainland district organised into eastern and western sides with numbered sectors, built up over decades, with a mix of Emirati family housing, villa compounds and apartment blocks, and Mussafah's industrial and commercial area close by. Families on different sides of it have genuinely different journeys and genuinely different local options.

What the address changes is small and worth being honest about. Which school cluster is nearest. How long the morning run takes and, more importantly, how long the afternoon return takes. Whether a tuition centre in Mussafah or out towards Khalifa City is a plausible evening trip. And whether a visiting tutor will come at all, which in practice depends less on the sector than on the total distance from wherever that tutor lives.

What the address does not change is everything that determines a Diploma grade. The six subjects are the same subjects with the same criteria, the same word limits and the same examination structure. Higher Level Paper 3 is worth a fifth of the grade in Baniyas West and in Al Bateen. The exploration is twenty marks either way. The scarcity of Higher Level specialists is a feature of the emirate rather than of a sector, and no address inside Baniyas improves it.

So the honest summary for a family comparing their own sector with the next one over is that the comparison is not the useful one. The useful comparison is between formats and inclusion lists, which is the first table on this page, and between subjects competing for the same household hours, which is the next one. Those two decisions are worth more than any amount of thinking about geography, and they are available to every household in the district equally.

03

Six subjects, limited hours: where should the money go?

A Diploma student carries six subjects and three core components. A household typically has the budget for one or two subjects of real support. That mismatch is the central planning problem and most families resolve it by instinct — funding the subject the child complains about most — which is not the same as funding the subject where an hour returns the most marks.

The table offers a view by subject group. Two patterns run through it. First, subjects where the fault is procedural and diagnosable repay tuition better than subjects where the fault is diffuse, because a specific fault can be attacked and measured. Second, the core components repay tuition disproportionately and are almost never funded, because they do not feel like subjects and nobody is complaining about them at the dinner table.

Theory of Knowledge is the clearest example of that second pattern. Twenty marks across the essay and the exhibition, both marked against published instruments, both with strict word limits, and most students receive very little structured teaching on how the instrument is applied to what they have written. Three to five sessions aimed precisely at that often returns more per dirham than the same money added to a fourth subject, and virtually no household budgets for it.

The row worth reading twice is the last one. Where a student is already at the top of a subject's range, tuition in it is a poor purchase and we will say so. A provider that accepts every subject a parent offers is not helping them ration; it is billing them. The question to put to any provider is which subject they would not take, and the answer tells you how they make decisions.

Who does what: school supervisor, private tutor, student

Confusion about roles is the most common way a well-intentioned family drifts into an academic honesty problem. The Diploma assigns a supervisor at the school for the Extended Essay and for internally assessed work, and that person has a defined role with defined limits. A private tutor is outside that structure entirely, which makes their limits tighter rather than looser.

The school supervisor advises on the research question, meets the student at defined points, comments on a draft within the rules the organisation sets, and ultimately authenticates the work as the student's own. A private tutor does not authenticate anything, does not replace the supervisor and should never give advice that contradicts them. Where a tutor's view differs from the supervisor's, the supervisor is the one inside the structure and the one whose judgement governs.

What a private tutor legitimately adds is teaching and questioning. Explaining what each criterion rewards and how many marks it carries. Discussing whether a chosen topic can support genuine reflection or critical thinking at all, which is a mathematical or disciplinary judgement rather than an editorial one. Reading what the student has written and asking the questions that expose an unsupported claim. Marking practice work against published criteria. None of that produces text for submission.

What a private tutor must never do is write, redraft to completion, supply sentences, provide solutions for live assessed work or sit beside a student during an assessment. We decline those requests and explain why to the student directly at the first session. A provider in this market advertises completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; buying one is academic malpractice and the consequence falls on the student's whole entry, not on the seller. The table splits the three roles out so that there is nothing left to be vague about.

Home or online: the honest version of the decision

Having set out the case for online delivery, it is worth stating the case against it, because a page that pretends one format suits every child is not being useful. There are students for whom a visiting tutor is the better answer and the characteristics are fairly predictable.

A younger student who needs physical presence to stay on task is one. A student who will close a laptop and open something else the moment attention wanders is another, and a parent generally knows which of their children that describes. A student with a particular need that makes a screen itself an obstacle is a third. And a household without a quiet room, a reliable connection or a workable surface may find the practical obstacles larger than the travel loading, though all three are fixable and the last section of this page is about fixing them.

For the typical Diploma student in Baniyas, though, the arithmetic favours video and the reason is specialism rather than convenience. A Higher Level specialist in a given subject is scarce across the whole emirate. Requiring one of them to make a sixty-kilometre round trip for a single lesson reduces that already small set to almost nothing, and what families actually end up buying is a generalist who is available. Published budget rates start at roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, and at that level the hour is a review of work already attempted, which is a different product sold under the same name.

So the recommendation is conditional rather than absolute. For a Diploma student working on criteria-based assessed pieces and Higher Level papers, match on subject and level over video and solve the room. For a student who cannot work without someone physically present, be honest about that and choose accordingly, understanding that the choice narrows the specialist pool and raises the rate. We will tell you during a free trial if we think the format is wrong for your child, which is a conversation we would rather have in week one.

06

Tuition or a school change? Separating two different decisions

Families in the mainland districts sometimes arrive at tuition as a substitute for a school decision they are avoiding, and it is worth separating the two because tuition cannot fix a structural problem at a school and should not be sold as though it can.

The questions that distinguish them are specific. Is the difficulty in one subject or across most of them? Does the school's own data show the student below their own earlier performance, or below the class? Is the subject taught by a specialist this year? Does the school offer the Higher Level combination the student needs for their intended route? Has the student's attendance or wellbeing changed? One subject with a diagnosable fault is a tuition problem. Most subjects declining at once, or a course not being taught by a specialist, is not.

ADEK supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in Abu Dhabi and publishes inspection outcomes, which is the right first stop for a family weighing a move. What a rating cannot tell you is subject-level: whether this year's Higher Level set has a specialist teacher, whether a department is carrying a vacancy, or whether the Diploma results in a particular subject group have been consistent. Those are questions for the school's admissions office and head of sixth form, and they are reasonable questions to ask.

Where a move is being considered mid-Diploma, the honest warning is that it is expensive. Internal assessment progress, supervisor relationships and the school's own deadline chain do not transfer cleanly, and a student changing school in DP2 loses time at the worst possible point. A tuition arrangement is sometimes the right way to hold a situation together until the end of the programme rather than the right way to fix it, and we would rather describe it that way than pretend otherwise.

07

Setting up: the room, the connection and the first month

If lessons are happening over video, the physical setup is part of the service rather than an afterthought, and a bad setup is the most common reason a good match underperforms in the first month. The requirements are modest and worth getting right before the first paid session.

The room: a door that closes, a surface large enough for an A4 pad and a textbook, and a chair at the right height. Not a bed, not a sofa, not the kitchen table during dinner preparation. The equipment: a laptop or tablet rather than a phone, because the student needs to see shared working at legible size; headphones, which halve the number of repeated sentences in a session; and a phone kept nearby purely to photograph written work for marking, which is the single most useful habit a family can establish.

The connection: test it at the time of day the lesson will actually happen, not at eleven in the morning. Evening performance in a busy residential district differs from midday performance, and a session that stutters for the first fortnight erodes a student's willingness before the teaching has had a chance. If the connection is genuinely poor at the preferred hour, moving the slot is cheaper than enduring it.

The first month, then, has a shape. Week one establishes the diagnosis and the habit of photographing written work. Week two is the first marked return, which is when a parent should look at what came back and ask whether it is marks against criteria or a tick. Week three tests whether the slot survives an ordinary bad week. Week four is a short review: has the fault frequency moved, is the written work actually happening, and is this format working for this child. Those four checks, asked plainly, prevent most of the quiet failures in this market.

08

The permit, the claims we do not make, and what we decline

A tutor who teaches a Baniyas household, whether they drive in off the Abu Dhabi–Al Ain road or appear on a screen in the study, needs a private tutoring work permit before any fee changes hands. The categories the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation admits are set out rather than left to judgement: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. The instrument behind the scheme is Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It carries no charge at all — the ministry's own service page lists no fee — it runs for two years before renewal, and that page states a two working day completion time once an application goes in through the MoHRE smart app, the website or the e-services system. Two days and nothing to pay is a low enough bar that a Baniyas parent can ask to see the permit without feeling they have asked for a favour.

Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No schedule of amounts has been published, and press reporting states that the ministry did not specify the fine amounts or detail the penalties, so a figure quoted to you as the penalty is invention. In Abu Dhabi, press reporting on ADEK's professional-ethics rules indicates that private and charter school staff may not provide paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and that the permit's code of conduct bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Verify the current ADEK document before relying on the exact wording.

On status: IB Gram is an independent online matching platform. It holds no accreditation, licence, approval or partnership from the IB, ADEK, KHDA, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson. It is not a registered examination centre and has no office, centre or branch in the UAE. Our tutors are not described as current examiners for any board, because that status cannot be evidenced in a form a parent could check, and examiner language should never be used to imply access to marking, grade boundaries or unreleased papers.

On what we decline: producing any part of an assessed piece, at any price; supplying solutions for live assessed work; sitting with a student during an assessment; reproducing or distributing board material, which belongs to the organisations that publish it; and promising a grade, a points total or a university outcome, which no tutor can do. We also publish no star rating or satisfaction statistic, because doing so honestly would require the sample size, the date and the method alongside it. What we commit to is a diagnosis, marked work, a review date and a straight answer.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Baniyas

Baniyas sits among the mainland districts below, which share its distance from the island's longest-established Diploma provision. The island communities appear as the contrast case.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City

The neighbouring mainland district, with its own schools and a comparable journey to the island. In-person Diploma specialists are scarce in both, and for the same structural reason.

Al Shamkha

Settled villa housing further east, around half an hour from the island on a clear afternoon run. Families here face the same travel loading on any visiting tutor's rate.

Al Reef

Townhouses on the Dubai-side corridor, closer to the Khalifa City schools. The shortest mainland journey of this group and still long enough to price a home visit upward.

Khalifa City

The principal mainland school cluster, where many Baniyas students' schools and internal deadlines actually sit. Twenty-five to forty minutes from the island in the afternoon.

Al Raha Gardens

Villa community with an IB continuum school nearby, so students who stay through the whole programme start the Diploma deadline chain earlier than transfers do.

Al Bateen

The island contrast case. Shortest journeys in the emirate and long-established Diploma provision, and still no surplus of Higher Level specialists willing to travel anywhere.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Decide the format honestly

Ask whether your child can work with somebody present on a screen rather than in the room. Most secondary students can; some cannot, and knowing which you have before paying matters more than any rate comparison. The free trial is partly there to test exactly this.

  2. 02

    Ration the hours deliberately

Name the one or two subjects where an hour returns the most marks rather than the subject your child complains about most. If a core component such as Theory of Knowledge is unsupported, say so, because it is usually the best value available.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson with the setup already working

A closed door, a laptop, headphones, an A4 pad and a phone to photograph written work. One live video lesson with the matched specialist, who has read the marked evidence first. You decide afterwards, with no card required and nothing starting automatically.

  4. 04

Check four things in the first month

Whether written work is actually being set and returned marked against criteria, whether the slot survives an ordinary bad week, whether the fault frequency has moved, and whether the format suits the child. Four plain questions that prevent most quiet failures.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The travel loading is named rather than hidden

Published in-home rates run from AED 180 to 500 an hour against roughly AED 150 to 300 online for a qualified subject tutor. From Baniyas that gap is a journey, and a family paying it should know that is what it buys.

We will decline a subject

A subject already at the top of its range is a poor purchase and we say so. The question worth putting to any provider is which subject they would refuse, because the answer shows how they make decisions about your money.

Core components are treated as marks

Theory of Knowledge carries twenty marks and the Extended Essay thirty-four, with word limits that decide whether the analysis survives. Both are routinely unfunded, and a short block on either often returns more than a fourth subject.

Supervision roles written down

School supervisor, private tutor and student each have a defined part, and only one of them produces text. We state that to the student directly, which removes the ambiguity in which honesty problems grow.

An honest case against our own format

Live video does not suit every child, and we would rather establish that during a free trial than in month three. Younger students and those who need physical presence to stay on task are genuine exceptions and we name them.

Figures with sources, and none of them ours

Every AED band on this page is attributed to a published market source and dated October 2026, and no statistic appears without a date and a method behind it. IB Gram publishes no price list here and no rating anywhere.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Baniyas: your questions answered

Does IB Gram send a home tutor to Baniyas?+

No. We teach one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and we do not offer home visits in Baniyas or anywhere else in the UAE, because home visiting is a service we run only in India. Independent tutors in the emirate do visit, and published rates for that run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in survey data and AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors. From a district thirty kilometres from the island, a meaningful share of that difference is the journey.

What is the travel loading on a home tutor's rate in Baniyas?+

Published in-home rates in the emirate run from AED 180 to 500 an hour depending on the source, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor teaching online, all read in October 2026. The gap is not a quality premium; it is a journey, and from Baniyas it is a long one with unpredictable afternoon traffic, so the loading sits toward the upper end of those ranges. What the premium buys is physical presence, which genuinely helps some students.

Which Diploma subject repays tuition best for a Baniyas household?+

Mathematics most consistently, because its faults are specific and diagnosable and because Higher Level Paper 3 is worth a fifth of the grade and is the least practised component in the Diploma. After that, any subject where the fault is structural rather than diffuse: evaluation missing in Economics, describing rather than answering in Business Management, writing without marked feedback in the sciences. And Theory of Knowledge, which carries twenty marks and almost nobody funds.

Can a private tutor supervise my child's Extended Essay?+

No, and the distinction matters. The Diploma assigns a supervisor at the school who advises on the research question, meets the student at defined points, comments on a draft within the organisation's rules, and authenticates the work. A private tutor sits outside that structure, authenticates nothing, and must not give advice that contradicts the supervisor. What a tutor legitimately adds is teaching the criteria, questioning a draft and marking practice work.

How many marks is the Extended Essay actually worth?+

Thirty-four, across focus and method, knowledge and understanding, critical thinking, presentation, and engagement. Critical thinking alone carries twelve of those, which is more than a third of the essay, and it tells a student exactly where the final fortnight should go. The essay also stops at four thousand words and nothing beyond that limit is marked, so compressing a finished argument late tends to cut precisely the analytical passages that criterion rewards.

Does the sector we live in within Baniyas change our options?+

Marginally, and not in the ways that matter. Your sector affects which school cluster is nearest, how long the afternoon return takes, and whether an evening trip to a tuition centre in Mussafah or out towards Khalifa City is plausible. It does not change the Diploma's criteria, the word limits, the weight of Higher Level Paper 3 or the scarcity of Higher Level specialists, which is a feature of the whole emirate rather than of any address inside it.

Is online tuition suitable for every Diploma student?+

No, and we would rather say so. Live video works well for most secondary students and genuinely does not suit some: younger children, students who will close a laptop and open something else the moment attention wanders, and students for whom a screen is itself a barrier. A parent usually knows which of their children that describes. The free trial lesson exists partly to test the format rather than only the tutor, and we will give you our view.

What equipment does a Baniyas household actually need?+

A room with a door that closes, a surface big enough for an A4 pad and a textbook, a laptop or tablet rather than a phone so shared working is legible, headphones, which halve the number of repeated sentences in a session, and a phone kept nearby purely to photograph written work for marking. Test the connection at the hour the lesson will happen rather than at midday, because evening performance in a busy residential district is different.

Should we pay for tuition or consider changing school?+

Two separate decisions, and tuition cannot fix a structural problem. One subject with a diagnosable fault is a tuition problem. Most subjects declining at once, or a Higher Level course not being taught by a specialist this year, is not. ADEK publishes inspection outcomes for Abu Dhabi private schools, which is the right first stop, but a rating cannot tell you who teaches a particular set this year. Ask the school that directly.

Is it worth changing school during DP2?+

Rarely, and the cost is higher than families expect. Internal assessment progress, supervisor relationships and the school's own deadline chain do not transfer cleanly, and a move in the final year removes time at the worst possible point. Sometimes a tuition arrangement is the right way to hold a situation together to the end of the programme rather than the right way to fix it, and we would rather describe it in those terms than imply more.

What does a month of Diploma tuition cost in Abu Dhabi?+

In monthly terms, the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table estimates roughly AED 240 to 600 for a weekly hour at budget level, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. Packages advertised in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Those were read in October 2026, belong to the market, and are not our price list.

Do tutors in Abu Dhabi need a permit to teach my child?+

Yes. Private tutoring in the UAE requires a work permit issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years, with the ministry's service page listing no fee and a two working day completion time. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Ask to see the document rather than accepting an assurance.

Why is Theory of Knowledge such good value to support?+

Because it carries twenty marks — ten for the essay and ten for the exhibition — against published instruments with strict word limits of sixteen hundred and nine hundred and fifty words, and most students receive very little structured teaching on how those instruments are applied to what they have written. Three to five sessions aimed exactly at that often returns more per dirham than the same money added to a fourth subject, and virtually no household budgets for it.

What will you refuse to do for my child's assessed work?+

Produce any part of it, at any price. We will not supply sentences for submission, restructure a draft into a finished piece, provide solutions for live assessed work, or sit with a student during an assessment. We also do not reproduce board material, which belongs to the organisations that publish it. A provider in this market advertises completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; buying one is academic malpractice and the consequence falls on your child's whole entry.

Name the format, ration the hours, check the marking

Three decisions settle this, and none of them is about distance. Decide whether your child can work with a tutor on a screen rather than in the room, because that is a real question and the trial lesson is partly there to answer it. Decide which one or two subjects return the most marks per hour, and consider whether a core component is unsupported. Then check, in week two, whether written work is coming back marked against published criteria or merely ticked. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; we do not offer home visits in the UAE, and the trial is one lesson.
