IB Maths Tutor in Baniyas

Hiring an IB maths tutor in Baniyas works when the fault has been named first. Diploma mathematics fails in about five recognisable ways, each with a different repair time and a different weekly cadence, and buying the wrong repair is how a term disappears. This page names all five. IB Gram matches specialists one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Five named failure modes with realistic repair times for each
  • Paper 1 and Paper 2 preparation separated, because they differ
  • Diploma marking conventions explained, including exact form and follow-through
  • Free trial lesson first, no card, no automatic renewal

Name the failure before buying the repair

Most families arrive with a grade and a feeling: the mathematics is going badly. That is a symptom, not a diagnosis, and the gap between the two costs real money. Diploma mathematics fails in a small number of recognisable ways, and the interventions for them are not interchangeable. One takes three lessons. One takes a term. One is not a mathematics problem at all. Buying a general weekly arrangement without knowing which you have is how a household spends six thousand dirhams and finds the next report unchanged.

The five modes, briefly. Procedural faults, where a rule was never learned or is misapplied. Fluency faults, where the student understands but works too slowly to finish. Technique faults, where the content is known and the marks leak through notation, rounding, command words or calculator handling. Content gaps, where a topic genuinely was not learned. And load faults, where the student is competent and has too little time, usually because the level is unsustainable or the week is full. The table in the first section sets out what each looks like and what it costs to fix.

Baniyas is a large mainland district on the south-eastern side of Abu Dhabi, built out across eastern and western sides with numbered sectors, with Mussafah and Al Shawamekh nearby. The load fault is more common here than on the island for a mundane reason: an hour or more a day on the road is roughly five usable study hours a week, and Diploma mathematics is the subject least tolerant of a thin practice schedule. That is worth naming honestly rather than treating as an excuse, because it changes which repair is realistic.

On delivery, plainly: IB Gram does not offer home visits in Baniyas or anywhere in the UAE, because home visiting is a service we run only in India. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. For a diagnosis-led approach the relevant point is that the person who can identify a Higher Level failure mode from a marked script is a specialist in that course, and specialists are scarce by course and level across the whole emirate rather than by district.

The rest of this page is practical. The five failure modes with repair times. How to read a DP1 report comment and work out which mode it is describing. What changes between Paper 1 and Paper 2, because they are prepared for differently and most students prepare for both the same way. The Diploma's marking conventions, including exact form, follow-through and the requirement to record a calculator command. A comparison with the neighbouring mainland districts, which fail identically. An honest account of cadence and when to stop. What it costs to fix the right thing. And the boundaries we work inside.

Every AED figure on this page belongs to the market, is attributed to a named published source and was read in October 2026. No examination or results date for the Diploma appears here, because the organisation's own site is the only place to confirm one, and a date a parent acts on should not come from a tutoring page.

At a glance

  • Five failure modes, five different repair times, from three lessons to a term
  • Analysis Paper 1 permits no technology; Paper 2 does, and they need different practice
  • A load fault is not fixed by adding lessons, and often not a mathematics problem
  • The exploration is twenty per cent of the grade at both Standard and Higher Level
  • Lessons are one-to-one over live video, not a tutor driving out to Baniyas

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The three Diploma mathematics configurations below behave differently under pressure, and the same failure mode has different consequences in each. Knowing the configuration tells a tutor how much room there is.

AAHLAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Analysis and Approaches, Higher Level

The most demanding configuration in Diploma mathematics: proof, calculus at volume, complex numbers, vectors in three dimensions, and three examination papers including the extended problem-solving Paper 3. Paper 1 is sat without any technology, which means manipulation by hand has to be genuinely fluent rather than merely correct.

This is where the load fault most often shows up in a Baniyas household, because the course assumes study hours that an hour-a-day commute quietly removes. Where the diagnosis is load rather than ability, the honest conversation is with the Diploma coordinator about level, not with a tutor about more sessions.

AASLAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Analysis and Approaches, Standard Level

Two papers plus the exploration, with Paper 1 again sat without technology. The content is narrower than at Higher Level and the demand for exact-form work and clean algebra is the same, which surprises students who expected the Standard Level route to be forgiving about arithmetic.

Technique faults dominate at this level in the scripts we see: notation, rounding too early, command words misread, and answers given as decimals where an exact form was required. All of those are cheap to repair, which makes Standard Level Analysis one of the better returns on a short block of tuition.

AIAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Applications and Interpretation, both levels

Modelling, statistics, regression and financial mathematics, with technology permitted on every paper. Higher Level adds Paper 3. Marks sit in interpretation as much as calculation: a model applied beyond the range its data supports, or a correct result described in language that does not say what it means, both lose credit.

The configuration most often chosen to avoid difficulty and least often understood. Calculator discipline becomes a graded skill rather than a convenience, and students who do not record the command they used lose marks on work that was entirely correct on the screen.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the specific places Diploma mathematics marks go in Abu Dhabi scripts, grouped by which failure mode each belongs to. The mode determines the repair time more than the topic does.

Rounding and exact-form discipline

Both courses, both levels

A technique fault. Students round an intermediate value and carry the error forward, or give a decimal where an exact answer was demanded. One instruction enforced across four pieces of marked work ends it, which makes it the cheapest fix available.

Recording the calculator command

Both courses; critical in Applications

A technique fault with real cost. Work done correctly on the screen and not recorded on the page earns less than the same work shown. Two or three sessions of marked practice in which the command must appear is usually sufficient.

Command terms in a mathematics context

Both courses, both levels

A technique fault. 'Show that' wants a derivation arriving at the printed result and gives nothing for substituting it back; 'hence' requires the previous part to be used; 'comment on' asks for interpretation rather than restatement.

Algebraic manipulation speed

Analysis HL and SL

A fluency fault, and the expensive one. The student understands each step and performs it slowly, so papers go unfinished. The repair is volume of short exercises over months rather than explanation, which is why it cannot be bought late.

Calculus technique and notation

Analysis HL especially

A mix of content and technique. Missing constants of integration, wrong rule selected for a composite expression, and derivative notation used loosely. Each is specific and diagnosable from a marked script.

Proof as a style of writing

Analysis HL and SL

A content gap in most cases, because nobody taught it as a genre. Students assert steps they consider obvious and stop once personally convinced. Several weeks of marked written proofs is the realistic span.

Statistical interpretation and modelling language

Applications HL and SL

A content gap disguised as a technique fault. The calculation is right and the sentence describing it does not say what the question asked. Responds to marked written interpretation rather than to more statistics teaching.

Paper 3 persistence at Higher Level

Higher Level only

A technique fault worth a fifth of the Higher Level grade. Students abandon a long scaffolded question at the first part that resists, forfeiting later parts that were answerable from the given result. Three marked cycles usually changes the behaviour.

The exploration's reflection and engagement criteria

Both courses, both levels

A content gap about what the piece is for. Technically immaculate explorations lose the three-mark criteria because nothing in them shows why this student chose this question or what the results actually meant.

Timing and question selection

Both courses, both levels

Usually a fluency symptom rather than its own fault. A student spending twelve minutes on a four-mark question has a speed problem upstream, and timed papers reveal whether the cause is fluency or simply poor selection.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements, chosen by failure mode rather than by preference. The whole argument of this page is that these are not interchangeable and should not be sold as though they are.

Short technique block, three to five sessions

For technique faults: rounding, exact form, calculator command recording, command terms, Paper 3 persistence. Bounded, inexpensive, and frequently the whole of what a student needs. Where the marked script says this is the fault, we sell this rather than a term.

  • One named fault per block with a fixed number of sessions
  • Marked written work in which the required element must appear
  • No rolling commitment once the block closes

Weekly term arrangement for fluency or content

For fluency faults and genuine content gaps, which cannot be compressed. Weekly lessons with short daily written practice, run across a term or more, with a review date at which the fault frequency in marked work is the measure.

  • Short daily exercises rather than a single weekly batch
  • Work marked against the published criteria, with errors categorised
  • A review against marked evidence rather than impressions

Exploration block at the school's deadline

Sessions clustered at the exploration draft and final submission dates, working on the student's own draft against the five published criteria. The tutor teaches, questions and feeds back; the student produces every word of it, and we say that to them directly.

  • Criteria taught by letter with their mark allocations
  • Topic viability discussed before the topic is fixed
  • Feedback on the student's own draft; no text supplied for submission

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Baniyas

01

Five ways Diploma mathematics goes wrong

The table is the centre of this page. Each row is a failure mode with the symptom a parent actually observes, the underlying cause, a realistic repair span and the cadence that repair needs. Reading it against a marked script takes about half an hour and replaces a guess with a decision.

The two rows worth dwelling on are the cheapest and the most expensive. Technique faults are cheap: a student losing marks to early rounding, unrecorded calculator commands and misread command words is losing them for reasons that have nothing to do with mathematics, and three to five sessions of marked practice in which the required element must appear usually ends all three. On a paper where the content is broadly known, that is frequently a double-digit mark swing.

Fluency faults are the expensive ones and the reason timing matters. A student who understands every step and performs each slowly will not finish papers, and no amount of further explanation helps, because explanation is not the missing thing. Speed comes from volume of short practice spread over months. That is why fluency is a Year 9 to DP1 problem and an extremely difficult DP2 problem, and why a provider implying a six-week block can fix it is selling hope.

The fifth mode, load, is the one families resist most and it is worth stating directly. A competent student carrying three Higher Levels, the core, mandatory subjects and an hour a day on the road may simply not have the hours the course assumes. Adding a weekly tuition session to that week displaces the written practice that makes tuition work, so the intervention makes the problem worse. The honest response is a conversation with the Diploma coordinator about level or subject load, and we will say so rather than taking the booking.

02

Reading a DP1 report: which mode is the comment describing?

School report comments are written to be constructive, which makes them diplomatic, which makes them hard to use. They do nonetheless contain the diagnosis, and the translation is fairly reliable once you know what to look for.

A comment about needing to show more working, or about careless errors, is almost always describing a technique fault. That is the cheapest thing on the list and the easiest to misread as inattention. A comment about needing to practise more, or about not completing assessments in the time available, is usually fluency. A comment about struggling with a particular topic, named, is a content gap. A comment that praises effort and attitude while reporting a disappointing mark is frequently load, and occasionally a content gap the teacher is being gentle about.

The comment to take most seriously is any reference to pace in class — keeping up, or needing more time than the group. That is fluency, it is the most expensive mode to repair, and it is the one that compounds, because every later topic assumes the earlier manipulation. A DP1 report saying this in term one is an unusually clear signal and the best possible time to act on it; the same comment in DP2 term two is a much harder problem.

The way to confirm any of this is the script rather than the comment. Ask for the marked assessment, and go through it assigning every lost mark to one of five categories: content never learned, method known but misapplied, notation or calculator, command word misread, or ran out of time. Those categories map onto the five modes directly. Thirty minutes, no mathematics required of the parent, and the counts give you the answer the report was too polite to spell out.

03

Paper 1 and Paper 2 are prepared for differently

Most students revise for the papers as though they were one assessment of different lengths. In Analysis and Approaches they are substantially different instruments, because Paper 1 is sat without any technology and Paper 2 permits it. That single difference changes what a student should practise, and a revision schedule that ignores it wastes a measurable share of the time.

Without technology, everything has to be done by hand and expressed exactly. That means confident fraction and surd work, exact trigonometric values, algebraic manipulation at speed, and calculus performed rather than checked. A student who has done all their practice with a calculator to hand has been quietly outsourcing the skill Paper 1 examines, and will discover it in the examination hall.

With technology permitted, the skills shift to selection and recording. Which function on the device answers this question, whether the device is in the right angle mode, how to store an intermediate value rather than retyping a rounded one, and crucially how to record what was done so that the page shows a method. Marks are awarded for method on the page, not for the right number appearing on a screen, and this is where Applications candidates in particular lose work that was entirely correct.

The table sets the two out. The practical instruction is to timetable them separately in revision: distinct practice sessions, distinct past-paper work, and in the case of Paper 1 a hard rule that the calculator is out of the room. Students resist this and it is the single most useful change most Analysis candidates can make to how they revise.

04

Diploma marking conventions a student should know

Marking is a documented process and students who understand it write differently. Diploma mathematics mark schemes distinguish method from accuracy, allow credit to follow through an earlier error, accept answers within a stated tolerance, and require working for method marks. Almost no student has read one, and reading three changes the shape of their answers permanently.

Method marks reward a correct approach even where the arithmetic afterwards fails. The behavioural consequence is blunt: a student who writes nothing down and gets the wrong answer scores zero, where one who shows a correct substitution and slips at the last step keeps most of the marks. Accuracy marks require the right value in the right form, which is where exact form and rounding discipline earn their keep. Follow-through credit allows a correct later step built on an earlier wrong answer to score — but only when the working is visible, which is the whole argument for showing it.

Two conventions specific to this subject deserve naming. Answers are often acceptable within a stated tolerance, so a student who abandons a question because their value looks untidy may have been correct. And where a question gives a result for use in a later part, that result must be used even if the student's own earlier answer differed; students who stubbornly carry their own wrong value forward forfeit marks that were protected for them.

There is also the recording convention for technology. Work performed on a graphic display calculator earns marks when the page shows which command was used and on what, and earns far fewer when the page shows only an answer. This is the most common single avoidable loss in Applications and Interpretation scripts, and it is a habit rather than a skill. Three sessions of marked work in which the command must appear is usually sufficient to fix it for good.

05

Baniyas, Mussafah and Al Shawamekh: the same five failures

This page is written from a comparison angle, so it is worth testing whether the neighbouring districts differ in any way that changes the advice. They do not, and the pattern is worth stating because it saves families a great deal of thinking about geography.

What differs between Baniyas, Mussafah, Al Shawamekh, Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Al Shamkha is journey length, which local tuition centres are a plausible evening trip, and whether a visiting tutor will come at all. Published in-home rates in this emirate run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in survey data and from AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors, read in October 2026, and the longer journeys sit toward the upper end of those ranges.

What is identical is the mathematics and the failure modes. The same five modes appear in marked scripts from every one of these districts, in roughly the same proportions, because they are properties of the course and of how students learn it rather than of where they live. Paper 1 permits no technology in Mussafah and in Al Bateen. The exploration is twenty marks either way. Higher Level Paper 3 is a fifth of the grade regardless of postcode, and students everywhere abandon it at the first part that resists.

The one district-linked effect worth naming is the load fault. Households with the longest journeys lose the most study hours, and Diploma mathematics is the course least able to absorb that loss. So in Baniyas and its neighbours, load should be actively considered as a diagnosis rather than assumed away, and the honest response to it is a conversation about level and subject combination rather than an additional tuition session. The table sets out the comparison plainly.

FIVE MAINLAND DISTRICTS, THE SAME DIAGNOSIS

06

Cadence: how often, how long, and when to stop

Cadence follows the failure mode, and getting it wrong wastes money in both directions. A technique fault treated with a year of weekly lessons is an expensive way to fix something that needed four sessions. A fluency fault treated with a six-week block produces a disappointed family and a fair conclusion that tutoring does not work.

For technique and procedural faults, a short block with marked work each session is right, and it should end. Three to five sessions, a diagnostic set before and after, and no rolling commitment. If a second fault emerges, that is a second block rather than an open-ended arrangement, and the gap between them lets you see whether the first repair held.

For fluency and content faults, weekly lessons across a term with short daily written practice. The daily part is not optional and it is where the work actually happens: fifteen or twenty minutes of retrieval practice on six days outperforms two hours in one sitting, because the skill is recalled and rebuilt on six separate occasions. In a Baniyas household where the afternoon is consumed by travel, that twenty minutes has to be placed deliberately rather than hoped for.

When to stop is the question providers avoid. The answer is when the fault frequency in marked work has fallen and stayed down across two assessments, or when a review shows the diagnosis was wrong and needs redoing rather than extending. We set a review date at the start with the measure named, and the three honest outcomes are taper, change the cadence, or change the diagnosis. A review that produces a conversation about how the lessons feel has not happened, whatever it is called.

07

What it costs to fix the right thing

Lead with the cost per repair rather than with the hourly rate, because that is the number a diagnosis makes available. A technique fault costing three to five sessions is, at published specialist online rates of roughly AED 200 to 450 an hour read in October 2026, a few hundred to a couple of thousand dirhams for a repair that is often worth a double-digit mark swing. That is a defined purchase with a defined outcome, which is unusual in this market.

A fluency repair is a different order of commitment. On a monthly basis, the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table estimates roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month for a weekly hour mid-market and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. Across a term that is a substantial figure, and it is the correct purchase when fluency genuinely is the fault, because nothing cheaper addresses it. A family should know they are buying months rather than weeks before they start.

The rest of the market, for reference and all read in October 2026: budget online or university-student tutoring is advertised from AED 45 to 150 an hour; a qualified subject tutor online at roughly AED 150 to 300; in-home visiting at AED 180 to 350 in survey data and AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors; and a premium named tutor advertised at AED 650. Packages seen include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

None of those figures is IB Gram's price list and all of them belong to the market. What a diagnosis changes is not the rate but the quantity: knowing the mode tells you whether you are buying four sessions or a term, which is a far larger determinant of total spend than the hourly figure. Our own arrangement starts with a free trial lesson and a consultation; the condition on the trial is that it is one lesson and you decide afterwards. On VAT treatment of tuition fees in the UAE we state no position, as that is a question for the Federal Tax Authority.

08

The exploration, board material and promises

The exploration deserves its own note because it is twenty per cent of the grade and because it is where the honesty boundary actually bites in mathematics. Five published criteria, twenty marks, with reflection and personal engagement carrying three each and most often under-scored. The criteria can be read before a topic is chosen, which is the single most useful hour a DP1 student can spend on the component.

What a tutor does with it: teaches the criteria by letter with their allocations, discusses whether a chosen topic can support genuine reflection at all, reads the student's own draft, asks the questions that expose an unsupported claim, and names the criterion a section is failing to address. What a tutor does not do: supply sentences, restructure a draft into a finished piece, or produce any part of it for submission. We decline that at any price. A provider in this market advertises completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; the consequence of buying one falls on the student's whole entry rather than on the seller.

On board material: specifications, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to the organisation that publishes them and are available through it and through schools. We reference and link rather than reproducing, and a tutor works through them with the student from the official source. We also publish no grade boundary, because boundaries are set after each session in light of that session's papers and performance, and a fixed figure on a tutoring page is a fabricated certainty.

On status and promises: IB Gram is an independent online matching platform with no UAE office, centre or branch, holding no accreditation, licence, approval or partnership from the IB, ADEK, KHDA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson. Any paid private tutor in the Emirates needs a private tuition work permit issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years. No tutor can promise a grade or a points total, we publish no rating or satisfaction statistic, and our tutors are not described as current examiners for any board.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Baniyas

These neighbouring mainland districts share Baniyas's distance from the island's Diploma provision and, more to the point, share the same five failure modes in identical proportions.

Mussafah

Immediately adjacent, with commercial areas and the nearest tuition provision to Baniyas. An evening group class here is plausible; it does not repair a fluency fault.

Al Shawamekh

Residential development nearby, feeding the same mainland schools. Students here present with the same five failure modes, in roughly the same proportions.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Large neighbouring district with its own schools and a comparable journey to the island. Load faults are as common here as in Baniyas and for the same reason.

Al Shamkha

Settled villa housing further east. Around half an hour from the island on a clear run, longer in the afternoon, with the same shortage of travelling specialists.

Khalifa City

The main mainland school cluster, where many Baniyas students' Diploma courses and internal deadlines sit. Shorter journeys, identical mathematics.

Al Bateen

The island contrast case. Shortest journeys in the emirate, long-established Diploma provision, and the same five failure modes in its marked scripts.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the marked script, not the report

The report is diplomatic; the script is diagnostic. A specialist assigns every lost mark to one of five categories and names the failure mode, which determines whether you are buying four sessions or a term. Thirty minutes of reading replaces a term of guessing.

  2. 02

    Confirm the configuration

Analysis or Applications, Standard or Higher Level, and for Higher Level whether a full Paper 3 has ever been sat to time. Also the school's internal dates for the exploration draft and final submission, which govern the plan more than the examination does.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson against the named fault

One live video lesson aimed at the diagnosed mode rather than at the subject in general. You decide afterwards whether to continue, no card is required, and nothing starts automatically if you choose not to.

  4. 04

Buy the matching cadence and set a stop condition

A short block for technique and procedural faults; a term with daily practice for fluency and content gaps. Either way a review date with the measure named, and a stated condition under which the arrangement ends.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The fault is named before anything is sold

Five failure modes need five different interventions, from three sessions to a term, and one of them is not a tuition problem at all. We read the marked script and say which it is, including when the answer is a conversation with the school.

Short blocks sold as short blocks

A technique fault costs three to five sessions and we will sell three to five sessions. Open-ended weekly arrangements for narrow faults are how this market produces families who conclude that tutoring does not work.

Paper 1 and Paper 2 practised separately

One permits no technology and one does, and students who revise them as a single assessment are outsourcing the exact skill Paper 1 examines. We timetable them apart and enforce the calculator being out of the room.

Marking conventions taught explicitly

Method marks, accuracy, follow-through, acceptable tolerance, and the requirement to record a calculator command. Reading three mark schemes changes a student's answers permanently, and almost none have read one.

Load named as a real diagnosis

A competent student with three Higher Levels and an hour a day on the road may simply lack the hours. Adding a session to that week displaces the practice that makes sessions work, so we say so instead of taking the booking.

No boundaries, dates or ratings we cannot stand behind

Grade boundaries are set per session and published afterwards, so we quote none. No Diploma examination or results date appears here. We publish no star rating, because stating one honestly needs the sample size, the date and the method.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Baniyas: your questions answered

How do I work out what is actually wrong with my child's IB maths?+

Read the marked script rather than the report comment. Assign every lost mark to one of five categories: content never learned, method known but misapplied, notation or calculator error, command word misread, or ran out of time. The counts map directly onto five failure modes with very different repair times, from three sessions for technique faults to a term or more for fluency. Thirty minutes, no mathematics needed of you, and it replaces a guess with a decision.

Which Diploma maths problem is cheapest to fix?+

Technique faults, by a wide margin. Rounding an intermediate value, giving a decimal where exact form was required, not recording the calculator command used, and misreading command words such as 'show that' or 'hence'. All four are habits rather than gaps, and three to five sessions of marked work in which the required element must appear usually ends them. On a paper where the content is broadly known, that is often a double-digit mark swing.

Why does more tutoring not help my Baniyas child who already works hard?+

That pattern usually indicates a load fault rather than a mathematics one. A competent student carrying three Higher Levels, the Diploma core, mandatory subjects and an hour or more a day on the road may simply not have the study hours the course assumes. Adding a weekly session to that week displaces the written practice that makes tuition work, so the intervention makes it worse. The honest next step is a conversation with the Diploma coordinator about level and subject load.

What does it mean when a report says my child makes careless errors?+

Almost always a technique fault, and it is the cheapest thing on the list rather than a character observation. It typically resolves into early rounding, exact form not given, working not shown so method marks were unavailable, or a calculator command not recorded. Each has a specific fix and all of them respond to marked practice in which the required element must be present. Ask for the script and check: the comment is polite, the script is specific.

Why should Paper 1 be practised with the calculator out of the room?+

Because in Analysis and Approaches no technology is permitted in Paper 1, and a student who has done two years of practice with a device to hand has been quietly outsourcing the exact skill that paper examines. Exact trigonometric values, surds, fraction work, manipulation at speed and calculus performed rather than checked all need to be fluent unaided. Separating the two practice streams is the single most useful change most Analysis candidates make to their revision.

What is follow-through credit in Diploma maths marking?+

It allows a correct later step built on an earlier wrong answer to earn marks, provided the working is visible. That is the whole argument for showing working: a student who writes nothing and reaches a wrong answer scores zero, while one who shows a correct substitution and slips at the last step keeps most of the marks. Related conventions matter too: answers are often acceptable within a stated tolerance, and a result given in the question must be used in later parts.

How long does a fluency problem in Diploma maths take to fix?+

A term or more, and there is no honest shortcut. Fluency means performing understood steps quickly enough to finish papers, and speed is built by volume of short practice spread across many days rather than by explanation. So the pattern is weekly lessons plus fifteen or twenty minutes of daily retrieval practice, which beats two hours in one sitting because the skill is rebuilt on six separate occasions. A provider promising to fix this in six weeks is selling hope.

Are tutoring needs different in Baniyas than in Mussafah or Al Shawamekh?+

No, and that is worth knowing because it saves a lot of thinking about geography. What differs between these districts is journey length, which centres are a plausible evening trip, and whether a visiting tutor will come, with published in-home rates of AED 180 to 500 an hour reflecting the distance. What is identical is the mathematics and the five failure modes, which appear in the same proportions everywhere because they are properties of the course.

How much does fixing one Diploma maths fault cost?+

A technique fault at three to five sessions, against published specialist online rates of roughly AED 200 to 450 an hour read in October 2026, is a few hundred to a couple of thousand dirhams for a defined repair. A fluency repair is months: the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table estimates AED 600 to 1,200 a month mid-market and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. The diagnosis changes the quantity, which matters more than the rate.

When should we stop paying for maths tuition?+

When the fault frequency in marked work has fallen and stayed down across two assessments, or when a review shows the diagnosis was wrong and needs redoing rather than extending. That is why a review date and a named measure are set at the start. The three honest outcomes are taper the arrangement, change the cadence because the gap is larger than assumed, or change the diagnosis. A review about how the lessons feel is not a review.

Why does my child lose marks on correct calculator work?+

Because marks are awarded for method shown on the page, not for a correct number appearing on a screen. Work done on a graphic display calculator earns credit when the page records which command was used and on what, and earns much less when only an answer appears. This is the most common single avoidable loss in Applications and Interpretation scripts. It is a habit, not a skill, and three sessions of marked work in which the command must appear usually fixes it permanently.

Can a tutor help with the exploration in Baniyas?+

Within a stated boundary. A tutor teaches the five criteria by letter with their mark allocations, discusses whether a topic can support genuine reflection at all, reads your child's own draft, asks the questions that expose an unsupported claim, and names the criterion a section is failing. A tutor does not supply sentences, restructure a draft into a finished piece or produce any part of it for submission, and we decline that at any price regardless of the deadline.

What mark gives a 6 in Diploma mathematics?+

No figure can be given honestly. Grade boundaries are set after each examination session in light of that session's papers and candidate performance, and published afterwards; they are not fixed percentages and they move between sessions. Any site quoting you a fixed threshold is inventing a certainty. What is stable is the description of what each grade represents in accuracy, method selection and handling unfamiliar problems, and that is far more useful for choosing an intervention.

Does a short block really work better than a year of lessons?+

For the right fault, yes, and it costs a fraction as much. Technique and procedural faults are bounded problems: a named rule or habit, three to five marked sessions, a diagnostic set before and after, and then it ends. The gap before any further work lets you see whether the repair held. For fluency and genuine content gaps a block is the wrong purchase and a term is the honest answer, which is exactly why the diagnosis comes first.

Send the script and we will name the fault

The report comment is diplomatic; the marked script is specific. Send the most recent one, with the course, the level and whether a full Paper 3 has ever been sat to time. A specialist will assign every lost mark to a category, name which of the five failure modes you are dealing with, and tell you whether that means four sessions or a term — including the case where the answer is a conversation with the school rather than a purchase. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; we do not offer home visits in the UAE, and the trial is one lesson.
