IGCSE Home Tutor in Al Qasimia

Parents comparing an IGCSE home tutor in Al Qasimia with the same search for Al Majaz, Al Khan or Al Nahda usually discover the lists overlap. The same handful of names travel across central Sharjah, and the quote changes with the drive rather than with the teaching. This page sets the districts side by side - supply, school mix, commute, what a family actually receives - and then explains the part that does not change wherever you live. Lessons are one-to-one over live video.

IB & IGCSE in Al Qasimia

Does the district actually change the answer?

Al Qasimia sits in the middle of old Sharjah, minutes from Al Majaz, Al Khan, Abu Shagara and Al Nahda. Search for an IGCSE tutor from any of those addresses and you will notice something: the results are largely the same people. Central Sharjah is one tutoring market with several postcodes, and a family comparing districts is mostly comparing drive times.

That matters because the drive is what the premium pays for. Across published UAE rate cards, an in-home visit is quoted between roughly AED 180 and 500 an hour once travel is absorbed, while a qualified subject tutor teaching online runs roughly AED 150 to 300. The difference is a car. It is not better knowledge of Cambridge 0580's paper structure, and it is not a better understanding of why a candidate loses marks describing an observation as a conclusion.

There is a second thing worth comparing, and almost nobody does it: what each district's schools actually enter their students for. Al Qasimia and the streets around it carry a dense mix of Indian-curriculum and British-curriculum schools, which means plenty of IGCSE candidates sit their papers at schools whose main curriculum is something else. Their mock calendars, their teaching pace and their entry patterns differ from a purely British school's, and a tutor needs to know which one they are dealing with.

Then there is the part that does not change at all. Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE candidates. The mark scheme for 0620 is the same in Al Khan as in Al Qasimia. The command-term traps are identical. The permit a private tutor needs is federal. Your child's grade is decided by a script marked against a published scheme, and no district has a local edition of that scheme.

So the honest comparison runs like this: districts differ in commute, school mix and local supply density, and they do not differ in what the examination demands. Which is why we match on the board and the code rather than on the address, and teach one to one over live video. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE - that service exists only in India - so the same specialist is available whether you are in Al Qasimia, Al Majaz or across the boundary in Al Nahda.

One caveat before the comparison. Local supply does matter for one group: younger children who need an adult beside them to stay on task. If that is your situation, the in-home premium may be worth paying and we are not the right provider, because we do not offer UAE home visits. For a Year 10 or 11 candidate working through papers, the specialist match matters more than the presence, and that is who this page is written for.

The sections below compare the districts properly, then compare provider models, then set out what is fixed regardless of where you live.

At a glance

  • Central Sharjah districts share one tutoring pool and one set of names
  • The in-home premium prices the journey, not the subject knowledge
  • School mix varies by district and changes mock timing and entry patterns
  • Mark schemes, series dates and the tutor permit are identical everywhere
  • Lessons are delivered online, one to one - never as a UAE home visit
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three British-track stages run through the schools central Sharjah families use. Which stage your child is on, and which board their school entered them for, matters far more than which street you live on.

LSECAges 11-14

Years 7 to 9, pre-IGCSE

No external papers, so nothing feels urgent and almost nobody buys support. It is nonetheless where the structural weaknesses form - algebra under time pressure, unit handling, writing that answers the question asked. Twenty well-aimed hours here is worth more than forty in a final term, and the constraint is motivation rather than money.

Al Qasimia households frequently include children at two or three different schools with different curricula, so a Year 8 student's needs are easily lost behind an older sibling's examination year. A short, finite block aimed at one weakness is the arrangement that actually happens.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Two years ending in terminal written papers, tiered into Core and Extended in most subjects, with Core capping the grade available. The grade is made in the examination room, which is why timed paper work marked against the published mark scheme is the highest-value use of tutoring hours in Year 11.

Entries run through the school's centre, and each Cambridge centre belongs to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version. Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who misses an examination after using the wrong zone timetable, so only the exams officer's copy counts - and that is true in every district.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The other British route, with its own codes - 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 - and its own paper structures. Edexcel maths uses two equally weighted papers rather than Cambridge's tiered pattern, and the question style differs enough that board-specific practice matters more than general revision.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The November final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026; June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the next day, and the November 2025 series results reached students on 22 January 2026. Confirm against the live official timetable.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The subjects central Sharjah families ask for most, with the codes that decide the match. Note how little of this is district-specific: the content is identical in every neighbourhood.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

The most requested subject across the emirate. Bounds, algebraic rearrangement under time pressure and multi-step problems abandoned one operation early account for most lost marks, and all three respond to timed papers with immediate marking.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended · Single tier at Edexcel

Electricity and graph-gradient work dominate the losses. The alternative-to-practical paper is a separate skill - naming instruments, identifying variables, suggesting improvements - and it is coachable in a handful of sessions.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Mole ratios, electrolysis products and organic conditions, plus the language problem: the scheme wants the observation, not the conclusion. Precision here recovers marks the student has already earned.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Content is memorisable, so the marks go on command words and diagrams. Genetic crosses, transport in plants and experimental design are where an hour converts most directly into marks.

Mathematics for Indian-curriculum crossovers

Years 9-11 bridging

Students moving from a CBSE or ICSE school into an IGCSE entry meet different question phrasing and a different expectation about showing method. The content overlap is large; the examination behaviour is not, and that gap is quick to close with board-specific practice.

First Language English (0500)

Single tier

Directed writing and reading analysis carry the grade. Summarising when asked to analyse effect is the standard loss, and timed writing annotated against the mark scheme moves this subject faster than almost any other.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0511)

With or without speaking endorsement

Common across central Sharjah schools where English is the language of instruction but not of the home. Note-making, summary word limits and register shifts are formulaic enough to coach precisely.

Business Studies and Economics (0450 / 0455)

Single tier

Case-study papers reward structure: define, apply to the case, evaluate with a judgement. Economics diagram accuracy is cheap to fix and frequently left to the student to work out alone.

Computer Science (0478)

Single tier

Pseudocode conventions and trace tables cause more lost marks than programming ability. It is also one of the harder subjects to staff locally at a weekday hour, in any district.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of working, identical in every central Sharjah district because the examination is identical. All are one-to-one over live video and all start with a free trial lesson.

Weekly one-to-one by board and code

A fixed slot with a tutor matched to 0580, 4MA1, 0620 or whichever code your child is entered for. The tutor works from the syllabus document the school issues and from past papers for that board, rather than from generic worksheets that suit neither.

  • Matched to the board, not to the subject name
  • Practice drawn from the correct board's papers
  • Written target list for the next six sessions

Ten-week exam block

Built backwards from the series. Content teaching ends early; the rest is timed papers marked against the published mark scheme with an error log by question type. The block has an end date, and it works the same way from any address.

  • Two sessions a week through the middle phase
  • Marked to the board's scheme, not an impression
  • Final fortnight reviews the log only

Board-transition sessions

For students moving between systems - an Indian-curriculum school entering them for IGCSE, or a move between Cambridge and Pearson. Short and specific: question phrasing, method expectations, paper structure. Content is rarely the problem; examination behaviour is.

  • Two to four sessions on examination behaviour
  • Side-by-side comparison of question styles
  • Finishes when the student's script looks right

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Qasimia

01

Four central Sharjah districts, compared honestly

A family in Al Qasimia asking whether they would do better searching from an Al Majaz or Al Khan address deserves a straight answer: marginally, and not in the way they expect. Local supply density does vary. Al Majaz has the deepest pool because it has been the emirate's tutoring district longest. Al Khan benefits from short school runs. Al Nahda has the largest share of families commuting into Dubai schools, which changes the hour more than the supply.

What does not vary much is the quality distribution. The same generalist-heavy pattern appears in every district: plenty of people who will teach maths across several year groups, fewer who know one board's paper structure in detail, and very few who have taught a specific syllabus code to grade standard for years. That shape is a property of the market, not of the postcode.

The second real difference is the school mix, and it is the one worth paying attention to. Districts with a heavier Indian-curriculum school presence produce IGCSE candidates whose school is primarily teaching something else for most cohorts. Their mocks land at different times, their teaching sequence differs, and the question of which board they are entered for is genuinely uncertain until somebody checks. In a predominantly British-curriculum catchment, that question answers itself.

The third difference is the commute, which decides the hour rather than the tutor. From Al Qasimia, a school in Muwaileh or across the Dubai boundary turns a five o'clock slot into a five-forty slot. That is worth knowing before a time is agreed, and it is the one variable an online arrangement removes entirely.

02

What the travel premium actually buys

The in-home premium is the single largest avoidable line in a central Sharjah tutoring budget, and it is almost never itemised. A tutor driving to your building spends real time doing it, and that time is priced into the rate whether or not anybody says so.

Compare the published bands. A qualified subject tutor teaching online runs roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour across UAE rate cards. An in-home visit is quoted between AED 180 and 500 once travel is absorbed. Monthly packages seen in the market include about AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. The arithmetic is not subtle: the same teaching hour costs materially more when somebody drives to deliver it.

What the premium does buy is genuine, and worth stating fairly. A person in the room can see a student's exercise book, can watch them work without a camera angle problem, and can be harder to ignore than a screen. For some students, particularly younger ones and those with attention difficulties, that is worth paying for. For a Year 11 candidate working through timed papers, it is worth much less than having the right specialist.

What the premium never buys is subject knowledge. A longer drive does not make a tutor better at 0625 Paper 6. If a family in Al Qasimia is paying the top of the in-home band, the right question is what else that money could have bought - and the usual honest answer is more hours with somebody who knows the paper.

03

Why the board matters more than the neighbourhood

  • Cambridge codes: 0580, 0620, 0625, 0500, 0510, 0606
  • Pearson Edexcel codes: 4MA1, 4CH1, 4PH1, 4BI1
  • The statement of entry carries the answer; the exams officer confirms it
  • Crossover students need examination behaviour, not more content

If you take one practical step from this comparison, take this one: find out which board and code your child is entered for before you talk to any tutor. In a district with a mixed school population, this is not obvious, and families frequently get it wrong.

The codes are the giveaway. 0580, 0620, 0625 and 0500 are Cambridge. 4MA1, 4CH1, 4PH1 and 4EB1 are Pearson Edexcel. They appear on the statement of entry and in the exam information the school circulates, and the exams officer can confirm them in one email. A tutor who does not ask for the code is not going to use it, which tells you something.

Why it matters so much: the paper structures differ, the question phrasing differs, and the preparation differs accordingly. Cambridge maths uses a tiered pattern; Pearson sets two equally weighted papers. A tutor fluent in one board will give confident, well-meant and wrong advice about the other's papers. For a student who has been practising the wrong board's past papers for a term, the discovery usually arrives in a mock.

This is also where an Indian-curriculum crossover needs care. A student with solid CBSE mathematics can be entirely competent and still lose marks on an IGCSE paper because the expectation about showing method and the phrasing of questions differ. That is examination behaviour rather than mathematics, and two or three board-specific sessions usually fix it.

Ask for the tier as well as the code. Core and Extended at Cambridge, or Foundation and Higher on an Edexcel paper, change both the content a student must cover and the grade available to them. A family who knows the code and the tier can brief any tutor in one sentence, which is more than most enquiries in this market manage.

04

Comparing provider models instead of districts

Once you accept that the districts are broadly similar, the useful comparison is between kinds of provider. There are five in this market and they differ on things that matter more than location: who the tutor is, what happens if they leave, whether a trial exists, and whether a rate is published at all.

Agencies and platforms carry a pool, so a tutor who leaves can be replaced without the family starting again. An independent tutor found through a neighbour offers continuity and local knowledge, and no fallback. A tuition centre offers structure and group economics, and cannot keep an individual error log. A university student offers a low rate and limited course-specific experience. And some well-known international marketplaces quote in dollars, a currency UAE families do not transact in.

A striking feature of this market is how little is published. Three of six ranking competitor pages in our research set carry no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars. One asks the price in its own FAQ and declines to answer it. Reading six pages and learning nothing about cost is a poor experience and an unnecessary one, which is why the AED bands appear on this page with their source and the month they were read.

Our own model, stated plainly so it can be compared: a matching platform with a pool of subject specialists, online one-to-one delivery, a free trial lesson before payment, tutor replacement without restarting the plan, and no UAE premises. We hold no approval, licence or accreditation from any UAE education authority, and we do not describe ourselves as approved by one.

Looking across the boundary: Dubai and Ajman options

Families in this part of Sharjah routinely look over two boundaries. Dubai is minutes away from Al Nahda and Al Taawun, and Ajman is a short drive north. Both change the calculation in ways worth knowing.

Dubai has more tutors, more specialists and higher prices. Its private school sector is substantially larger - Dubai recorded 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen curricula in 2024-25 - so the tutoring market is deeper too. An in-home tutor travelling from Dubai to Al Qasimia will price the journey accordingly, which usually makes it the most expensive option on the table. Online, the same Dubai-based specialist costs no more to reach than a Sharjah-based one.

Ajman is the reverse: fewer schools, thinner local supply, and a regulatory difference worth noting. Private schools in Ajman, along with Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education rather than by an emirate authority, while Sharjah's private schools fall under the Sharjah Private Education Authority. Families with children at Ajman schools and a home in Sharjah are therefore dealing with two different regulators, which affects school processes rather than tutoring.

The neat conclusion is that crossing a boundary changes price and supply but not the examination. A Pearson 4CH1 candidate in Al Qasimia, Al Nahda or Ajman sits the same paper, marked to the same scheme, in the same series. Which is the argument for choosing the best specialist rather than the nearest one, and for a format that makes that possible.

06

What is identical in every district

  • June and November series for UAE candidates, in every emirate
  • Zone timetables belong to the centre, not to the area
  • The MoHRE permit is federal, free and valid for two years
  • Mark schemes and command terms do not have local editions
  • The coursework boundary is the same wherever you are

Having compared what varies, it is worth being precise about what does not, because this is where families waste the most effort. The examination is national and international, not local.

Cambridge runs IGCSE and O Level examinations in a June series and a November series, and UAE candidates sit those two - the February/March series is offered in India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Entries are made by the school's centre, and each Cambridge centre belongs to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version, which is a property of the centre rather than the neighbourhood.

The permit position is federal too. Private tutoring in the UAE requires a work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years, with eligible applicants including registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Those operating without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so ignore any figure quoted at you, in any district.

And the academic-honesty boundary is identical everywhere. A tutor may teach, question and give feedback on the student's own work. A tutor may not write, draft or edit assessed coursework, and IB Gram does not supply completed coursework of any kind. Essay mills appear in these search results charging thousands of dirhams, and the malpractice consequence attaches to the student, wherever the student lives.

07

So what should a family in Al Qasimia actually do?

The comparison leads somewhere specific. Since the districts are similar, the supply is generalist-weighted everywhere, and the examination is identical, the decision that remains is about matching and format rather than geography.

Step one is the code. Email the exams officer, confirm the board and syllabus code for every subject, and ask for the school's internal entry-change deadline in writing. Those three facts shape everything else and cost one message. Step two is a marked script: a recent mock, marked against the published scheme, which tells you whether the problem is content, technique or timing. Those are different problems with different fixes and different costs.

Step three is choosing a format deliberately rather than by habit. If your child is nine and needs somebody sitting beside them, the in-home premium may be worth paying, and we are not the right provider for that - we do not offer UAE home visits. If your child is fifteen, working through papers, and needs somebody who knows 0625 Paper 6, then paying for a drive is paying for the wrong thing.

Step four is a trial. Ours is free, one-to-one over live video, and it produces a marked script you keep whether or not you continue. That is a low-cost way to answer the question this whole page has been circling: not which district has better tutors, but which tutor knows your child's paper.

If you do decide to hire locally, the same four steps still apply, and the four questions in the first conversation are the same. Nothing on this page depends on choosing us; it depends on leading with the code and the script rather than with the postcode, because that is the order in which the decision actually gets better.

Where we tutor

Central Sharjah district by district

The comparison a family actually wants: what each neighbouring district offers, and how much of the difference is real rather than assumed.

Al Majaz

Immediately adjacent and the emirate's longest-established tutoring district. Deepest local supply in central Sharjah, and the first area to be fully booked in the weeks before a series.

Al Khan

Coastal, central, with short school runs that make a pre-five session genuinely workable. Supply overlaps almost entirely with Al Qasimia and Al Majaz.

Abu Shagara

Dense and residential, with a heavy Indian-curriculum school presence nearby. Many candidates here sit IGCSE papers at schools whose main curriculum is something else.

Al Nahda, Sharjah

On the Dubai boundary, with a large share of families using Dubai schools. The cross-boundary return journey pushes a realistic weekday start past five o'clock.

Al Taawun

High-density apartment living close to the Dubai edge. The practical constraint is a quiet room rather than tutor availability, which is a different problem with a cheaper fix.

Muwaileh

A larger school cluster to the south-east with its own tutoring supply. Families here rarely look towards Al Qasimia, which is why the two markets quote differently.

University City

Where most budget supply in the emirate originates. University students may hold the private tuition permit; board-specific experience is the thing to ask about.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Qasimia

British-curriculum schools central Sharjah families use

These schools run Cambridge or Pearson entries through their own centres with internal mock calendars ahead of the public timetable. Their candidates are the most straightforward to support because the board and codes are unambiguous.

  • Sharjah English School
  • Wesgreen International School
  • Scholars International Academy
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah

Indian and mixed-curriculum schools nearby

A large share of IGCSE candidates in this part of Sharjah attend schools whose principal curriculum is Indian, with IGCSE entries for some cohorts or subjects. Their teaching pace and mock timing differ, so the first question we ask is which board and code the school actually entered.

  • Delhi Private School Sharjah
  • Our Own English High School, Sharjah
  • GEMS Millennium School Sharjah
  • The American School of Creative Science, Sharjah

Schools are named only as context for the local school ecosystem; no affiliation, endorsement or partnership is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Confirm the board and code

One email to the exams officer gets you the board, the syllabus code for each subject, and the school's internal entry-change deadline. In a district with a mixed school population this is the step families most often skip, and it is the step that makes a specialist match possible.

  2. 02

Send a script, not a description

A recent mock or paper, marked against the published scheme by the matched tutor before you meet, tells you whether the problem is missing content, weak technique or poor timing. A description of how the term has gone cannot distinguish between those three.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson over live video

The trial is one-to-one, costs nothing, and is spent on the marked script rather than on introductions. You keep the marked paper and the tutor's written view of what the remaining weeks can realistically change, whether or not you book anything further.

  4. 04

    A fixed slot and a six-session plan

You choose an hour in Gulf Standard Time around the school run. The tutor writes down the topics for the next six sessions, and we review on timed scores at session six. If the fit is wrong, the tutor changes and the plan carries across.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The same specialist in every district

Because lessons are delivered over live video, an Al Qasimia family gets the same tutor an Al Khan or Al Nahda family would. No part of the match depends on who is willing to drive across central Sharjah at five o'clock.

Board and code first

We ask which board and code before we ask anything else, which matters most in districts where schools run more than one curriculum. Practising the wrong board's papers for a term is a mistake families discover in a mock, and it is entirely avoidable.

Rates published with sources

The AED bands on this page carry the month they were read. Three of six ranking competitor pages in our research set publish no price at all, and two of the others quote in dollars. You cannot compare what nobody will state.

No premium for a journey

The in-home premium pays for travel, not for knowledge of a mark scheme. We do not offer UAE home visits - that service exists only in India - so the money goes into teaching hours instead of into a car.

Replaceable tutors, continuous plan

If a tutor becomes unavailable, we match another and carry the written plan across. A family who found an independent tutor through a neighbour starts the whole search again, usually in the term when they can least afford to.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Qasimia: your questions answered

Would we find better IGCSE tutors by searching from Al Majaz instead of Al Qasimia?+

Marginally more of them, not better ones. Al Majaz has the deepest local pool in central Sharjah because it has been the emirate's tutoring district longest, but the quality distribution is the same everywhere: many generalists, fewer board-specific teachers, very few who have taught one syllabus code to grade standard for years. The districts share one market and largely the same names. What does change by district is the commute, which sets the hour a session can start, and that is the variable an online arrangement removes.

Do tutors charge more to visit Al Qasimia than nearby districts?+

In-home quotes track the journey, so an address further from a tutor's base costs more, and a tutor travelling from Dubai costs most of all. Across published UAE rate cards, in-home visits are quoted between roughly AED 180 and 500 an hour once travel is absorbed, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor teaching online. The premium is real and it pays for driving. It does not improve anybody's knowledge of a Cambridge paper, which is why we do not sell it.

Al Qasimia schools run several curricula - how do I identify my child's board?+

Look for the code. 0580, 0620, 0625 and 0500 are Cambridge; 4MA1, 4CH1, 4PH1 and 4BI1 are Pearson Edexcel. The code appears on the statement of entry and in the exam information the school circulates, and the exams officer can confirm it in one email. This matters most in districts like this one where schools run more than one curriculum, and a child can be at an Indian-curriculum school while sitting a British board's papers in some subjects.

My child moved from a CBSE school into IGCSE entries. What changes?+

Less content than you fear and more examination behaviour than you expect. The mathematics and science overlap is substantial, but IGCSE questions are phrased differently, the expectation about showing method is stricter, and command terms are treated as precise instructions. A capable student can lose marks for reasons that have nothing to do with knowledge. Two or three board-specific sessions working through past papers, marked against the published scheme, usually closes that gap faster than any amount of additional content teaching.

Is a tuition centre in central Sharjah better value than one-to-one?+

It is cheaper per hour and it cannot do the thing that matters most in Year 11. A group class covers content on a fixed schedule; it cannot keep an individual error log, mark one student's timed papers against the scheme every week, or decide that this particular candidate should skip a topic and drill another. For a confident student wanting structure, a centre works. For a candidate underperforming on paper, the individual script analysis is the whole intervention, and it is not available in a group.

Can we use a Dubai-based tutor while living in Sharjah?+

Online, easily, and at no travel premium. Dubai's market is deeper - the emirate recorded 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen curricula in 2024-25 - so more specialists are based there. In-home, a Dubai tutor driving to Al Qasimia will price the journey, which usually makes it the most expensive option available. Since the examination is identical, the sensible approach is to choose the specialist on course experience and let the format remove the geography. That is precisely what we do.

Does it matter that Ajman schools have a different regulator?+

For school processes, yes; for tutoring, almost not at all. Private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education, while Sharjah's are regulated by the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which also approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses and assessment methods. If you live in Sharjah and your child attends school in Ajman, you deal with both. The examination board, the series, the mark scheme and the tutor permit are the same either way.

What should a first conversation with any tutor cover?+

Four questions, none of which need subject knowledge from you. Which board and code is my child entered for, and how do you know? How many papers are there and what is each worth? Name the three topics where candidates lose the most marks in this subject. What will you do differently in the last six weeks? A specialist answers in specifics and often corrects your premise. A generalist answers with reassurance about confidence, which is pleasant and not what you are buying.

Are the dirham figures quoted here IB Gram's own prices?+

No. They are market bands drawn from published UAE rate cards and from Bestimate's Dubai tutoring cost table, read in October 2026, and they are here so you can judge any quote against something checkable - including ours. Three of six ranking pages in our competitor research publish no price at all, and two of the remaining ones quote in US dollars, which UAE families do not transact in. Ask us directly for our own figure, and start with the free trial lesson, which costs nothing.

What happens if our tutor becomes unavailable mid-term?+

We match another specialist in the same course and carry the written plan across, so the student does not restart from a diagnostic conversation. This is the practical advantage of a pool over an individual arrangement: a family who found a tutor through a neighbour has to begin the whole search again, usually in the term when they can least afford the disruption. We also change tutors on request if the fit is wrong, which we check deliberately at session six.

Does a private tutor in Al Qasimia need a licence?+

Yes, and it is federal rather than local. Private tutoring in the UAE requires a work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Those tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. Since it costs nothing, asking is reasonable.

When are the exams, and is a resit possible if June goes badly?+

Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE candidates; the February/March series is offered in India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November, and results from a November series reach students in January - the November 2025 cohort received theirs on 22 January 2026. A resit is therefore a real option, provided the receiving sixth form or university accepts a January result and the entry route is confirmed with the school or a registered centre first.

How many hours should we budget for one subject before the papers?+

A ten-week block at two sessions a week is about twenty hours and is the pattern with the clearest relationship to marks: roughly four hours closing the largest gaps, twelve hours of timed papers marked between sessions, and four hours reviewing the error log. At market online rates of AED 150 to 300 an hour, that is in the region of AED 3,000 to 6,000 per subject. Fewer hours in two subjects usually beats the same money spread across four.

Can a tutor help with coursework if a deadline is close?+

With the thinking and the feedback, yes; with the writing, never. A tutor can explain the criteria, question a plan, teach the skill the task needs and explain why a paragraph misses the question asked. A tutor may not write, redraft or edit any part of assessed work, and IB Gram does not supply completed coursework. Services selling finished assessments appear in these search results at prices in the thousands of dirhams, and the malpractice consequence falls on the student rather than the seller.

The district is not the variable worth optimising

Al Qasimia, Al Majaz, Al Khan and Al Nahda share a tutoring market, and the examination your child sits is identical in all four. What varies is the commute and the price of somebody's drive. So start with the two facts that do change outcomes: the board and syllabus code, and a marked script. Send us both and we will match a specialist who has taught that paper, mark the script against the published scheme, and run a free trial lesson over live video at no cost. Lessons for central Sharjah families are one-to-one and online, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time.
