IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Nouf

If you typed IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Nouf, you are probably running two curricula in one household: an older child on the Diploma Programme and a younger one working towards IGCSE, or a family that changed schools and now has both. Al Nouf is an inland Sharjah district whose schools are a drive away, so near is a relative word here. IB Gram does not visit UAE homes; we match specialists and teach live, one-to-one, over video.

  • A separate specialist per child, per board, per level
  • Back-to-back slots so one evening covers two children
  • Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and IB Diploma all supported
  • Free trial lesson for each child before anything is paid

IB & IGCSE in Al Nouf

Near is a relative word in an inland Sharjah district

Al Nouf has no large school inside it. Its children travel out to Muwaileh, University City or central Sharjah, and a few go further again into Dubai. So when a parent here searches for a tutor near me, the honest translation is not within walking distance. It is somebody who can be here at a usable hour without the arrangement collapsing by half term. Measured that way, the nearest competent option is frequently a video call, and this page explains why without pretending the trade-off does not exist.

The second thing behind this search is usually a household with two curricula. Sharjah families move schools more often than families in most places, because the emirate has good provision in several systems and because work takes people between Sharjah, Ajman and Dubai. The result is common and awkward: a Year 12 student on the Diploma Programme and a Year 10 sibling on Cambridge IGCSE, under one roof, on one evening, with one parent coordinating.

Those two children need different tutors. An IGCSE Extended-tier Chemistry session is about terminal-paper technique against a specific mark scheme. A Diploma HL Chemistry session is about papers plus an internally assessed investigation with its own criteria. A single tutor offered as covering both will be stronger at one than the other, and in an in-person arrangement that compromise is forced on you by geography, because the pool of people prepared to drive inland after four o'clock is not deep enough to supply two specialists.

IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; home tuition is a service we offer only in India. For Sharjah families every lesson is live, one-to-one, over video, in a fixed Gulf Standard Time slot. The practical effect for a two-child household in Al Nouf is that both children can be taught properly on the same evening, back to back, by two different specialists, which is an arrangement no amount of driving can produce.

What follows deals with the specific problems of running two boards: how the IGCSE years feed the Diploma, where the three exam calendars collide, what proximity actually costs you when you filter for it, and how the emirate regulators differ if you move school. If you want the pure scheduling argument, the IB page for this neighbourhood takes it; the IGCSE page covers session shape and cost per received hour. This page is about running both at once. One thing to settle before you read further: decide which child this term's budget is actually for. Two thin arrangements that neither child notices is the commonest way a two-board household spends a year's tutoring money and sees no grade move, and the decision is easier to make deliberately in September than to discover in March.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A household running both boards is really running two assessment models. These are the four stages Al Nouf families ask us about, and the differences between them are what make a single all-rounder tutor a poor idea.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Seven to nine subjects over two years, tiered Core and Extended with Cambridge or Foundation and Higher with Pearson, assessed mainly by terminal examination with some coursework and practical components. The grade is decided in a fortnight of papers, which makes paper technique disproportionately valuable in the final term.

Several Sharjah schools run Cambridge for some subjects and Pearson for others, so one child can sit two boards in a single year. Read the statement of entry rather than the textbook: Cambridge Mathematics is 0580, Pearson Specification A is 4MA1, and the tier names and paper structures are not interchangeable between them.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service, scored to 45 points. Internal assessment carries real weight in almost every subject, so the grade is built across two years rather than decided in one fortnight.

Victoria International School of Sharjah is the emirate's established IB continuum provider, and a number of Sharjah families drive into Dubai for a Diploma place instead. Those students arrive home late, so for an Al Nouf household the Diploma child usually takes the later of the two evening slots and the IGCSE sibling takes the earlier one.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria each, marked A to D, with a Personal Project in the final year. The criteria matter more than the topic, and students who write well while ignoring the criterion wording sit in the middle band wondering why.

An MYP student and an IGCSE student of the same age are being assessed on different things, which routinely confuses Sharjah families comparing siblings or cousins. MYP rewards process and reflection; IGCSE rewards precision against a mark scheme in timed conditions. Neither is harder, and the tutoring looks different.

TransitionAges 15-17 · Years 11-12

IGCSE into the Diploma Programme

The step from IGCSE to DP is where most Sharjah families first ask for help, and the gap is rarely about content. It is about volume, internal deadlines and the shift from answering questions to building arguments. A student with strong IGCSE grades can still struggle for a term while that change lands.

The subject-by-subject version of this transition is set out in a table below. The short form: Mathematics needs the route decision made against university requirements, the sciences need a working understanding of internally assessed investigations, and the essay subjects need a new habit of sustained argument that no IGCSE paper ever asked for.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Diploma Programme subjects first, then the IGCSE grid below it. If your household is running both, read the two together: the IGCSE notes say where the foundation is laid and the Diploma notes say what it is laid for.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebraic fluency under pressure, with HL adding proof and deeper calculus. The exploration is internally assessed and routinely underestimated. Students who understand the maths still lose marks to unjustified steps and weak presentation.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology use, with the calculator part of the assessment rather than a convenience. Check the route against the university requirements before choosing it, because some engineering and economics courses expect Analysis and Approaches.

Physics

HL and SL

Multiple choice, extended response, and a third paper on experimental and option material. Written-explanation questions are where marks disappear: a correct idea phrased loosely scores nothing. The investigation rewards one tightly controlled variable.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms carry the HL failure rate. Data questions require uncertainty to be handled rather than mentioned. The investigation needs a quantitative relationship the student can plot and defend.

Biology

HL and SL

Large content volume with marks tied to exact terminology, plus data analysis that catches students who revised facts and skipped skills. HL extension material often arrives late and is first met during revision.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy decides a large share of the marks and the evaluation command terms decide most of the rest. The internally assessed commentaries need real published articles and disciplined word counts, applied rather than summarised.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Unseen analysis, comparative essay, individual oral, and at HL a further essay. Strong bilingual Sharjah students usually plateau on analytical technique rather than language: commenting on effect instead of restating content.

Business Management

HL and SL

Case-study driven with a research project at HL. Application to the given organisation separates a 5 from a 7, and quantitative tools are examinable and regularly neglected until the final term.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

A prescribed-title essay and an exhibition of three objects against a knowledge question. The component most often left too late in Sharjah schools, and the one where process coaching produces the clearest return per hour.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE side of the same household, with syllabus codes where the code is what decides the tutor match.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

Two equally weighted papers and no coursework. Extended candidates lose marks to algebra under time pressure and to problems that combine topics without signalling it. Timed papers with the mark scheme open are the fix.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Theory papers plus, for Cambridge, an alternative-to-practical paper testing experimental reasoning rather than recall. It is the paper Sharjah Extended candidates most often underperform on and it needs its own sessions.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Moles and stoichiometry carry the heaviest weight and failure rate. Qualitative-analysis tables and organic nomenclature are learnable by drill and usually left until April, which is too late to be comfortable.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

High volume with marks tied to precise terminology. A loosely right answer scores zero where the mark scheme names a term, and transport in plants, genetics and homeostasis recur as weak areas year after year.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0511)

Core and Extended

Comprehension, a disciplined summary task and directed writing with a stated purpose and audience. Summary marks are lost by lifting sentences from the passage rather than reformulating in the student's own words.

Business Studies (0450 / 4BS1)

IGCSE

Case-study led, with marks in application and evaluation rather than definition. A student who knows every term and cannot apply it to the stimulus stalls at a C and stays there until the technique changes.

Economics (0455 / 4EC1)

IGCSE

Diagram accuracy carries a large share of the marks: axes labelled, correct shift, new equilibrium identified. Data-response answers must quote the extract rather than reason in general terms.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

IGCSE

Taken by stronger Sharjah candidates as a bridge towards A Level or Diploma mathematics, covering calculus and trigonometry beyond 0580. It is the clearest early signal of whether a student will cope with HL Analysis and Approaches.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements, all online, chosen with a two-child household in mind rather than a single student.

Back-to-back evening slots

The younger child at 4.30pm and the older at 6pm, each with their own specialist, on the same evening. One parent supervises one stretch of the evening instead of two, and each child gets a tutor matched to their actual board and level rather than a shared compromise.

  • Two specialists, one evening, consecutive slots
  • Each child's session sized to their year group
  • Shared agreed fallback day for deadline weeks
  • Separate written notes per child

One child weekly, one in bursts

The common pattern once the Diploma student is stable: a weekly hour for the IGCSE child through the year, and concentrated blocks for the Diploma student around internal assessment deadlines and the pre-examination period. It spreads cost across the year instead of doubling it.

  • Weekly continuity where the foundation is still being built
  • Blocks of two or three sessions a week where the deadline sits
  • Switches between the two children by term
  • Reviewed each term rather than set once

Transition block

A focused run of sessions across the summer and first term for a student moving from IGCSE into the Diploma Programme. The work is specific: route choice in mathematics, the internally assessed investigation model in the sciences, and the sustained-argument habit the essay subjects now require.

  • Starts in July rather than in October when it is already hurting
  • Covers the Mathematics route decision explicitly
  • Introduces internal assessment criteria before the first draft
  • Usually six to ten sessions, not a whole year

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Nouf

01

What filtering for proximity actually costs you

Searching for a tutor near me applies a filter, and it is worth seeing what the filter removes. In Al Nouf it removes everybody who cannot drive inland in the late afternoon, which is most of the people who have taught your child's exact specification. It keeps everybody who can, regardless of whether they have ever seen a Diploma internal assessment or a Cambridge Extended-tier mark scheme.

That trade is invisible at the point of booking, which is what makes it expensive. A parent who finds somebody twelve minutes away feels they have solved the problem efficiently. Three months later the student is still losing the same six marks a paper, because the nearby tutor is teaching content the student already knows rather than correcting technique they were never taught to see.

The alternative filter is the syllabus code. Ask for somebody who has taught 0625 Extended, or HL Chemistry through two full cycles, and the pool is entirely different: smaller in the sense that fewer people qualify, and much larger in the sense that distance no longer excludes anybody. For a household running two boards, this is the only filter that can supply two specialists on one evening.

None of this says in-person tuition is bad. It says that in an inland district with no school inside it, proximity and expertise do not arrive together, and if you have to choose, the thing that moves grades is the second one. IB Gram does not visit UAE homes in any case, so the choice we can offer you is the specialist one.

The IGCSE to Diploma step, subject by subject

The household running both boards eventually runs the transition too, and it is worth preparing rather than enduring. Most Sharjah students with good IGCSE grades still have a difficult first Diploma term, and the reason is almost never the content. It is the volume of six subjects, the arrival of internal deadlines nobody enforces until suddenly they do, and the shift from answering a question to building a case.

Mathematics is the one decision that cannot be undone casually. Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation lead to different university options, and a student placed in the wrong route in DP1 loses a year. Additional Mathematics 0606 at IGCSE is the clearest early signal of whether HL Analysis and Approaches is realistic, which is why it is worth taking even when the school presents it as optional.

The sciences change shape rather than difficulty. IGCSE practical work is assessed through a paper; Diploma practical work is assessed through an investigation the student designs, runs and writes up against published criteria. A student who has never chosen their own variable finds the first attempt genuinely hard, and that is a skill gap that can be closed in the summer before DP1 rather than in the spring of it.

The essay subjects ask for something new. An IGCSE answer is a correct response to a prompt. A Diploma essay is a sustained argument with evidence and counter-argument, and in TOK it is an argument about knowledge itself. That habit takes a term to build, and the students who build it in the summer start DP1 ahead of the ones who meet it in November.

Three exam calendars in one household

A family with an IGCSE child and a Diploma child is tracking two or three calendars, and they do not align. Cambridge International runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, and UAE candidates sit those two; the February and March series is offered to India only, so ignore any page quoting a February window to a Sharjah parent. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November.

On the Diploma side, UAE schools sit the May session. We will not publish a specific IB date, because the IB's own site blocks automated checking and an unverified date on a page a parent acts on is worse than no date. Ask your school's IB coordinator for the session dates and, more importantly, for the internal deadline schedule, which is what actually governs the year.

The collision point is the spring. Diploma internal assessments, the Diploma examination session, IGCSE mocks and the IGCSE June papers all sit within a few weeks of each other. A household that has not planned for it discovers in March that both children need maximum support simultaneously, which is the single most expensive month to be caught unprepared in.

The answer is to front-load. Use the autumn and the winter break for the Diploma internal assessments and the Extended Essay, and keep the IGCSE child on a steady weekly hour rather than saving the effort for spring. Pearson's published pattern helps with the detail: its November 2026 final timetable ran to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

What the Sharjah market charges across both boards

A two-child household doubles the exposure to pricing, so it is worth knowing the bands properly. Read in October 2026, the budget band runs roughly AED 33 to 65 an hour, with Tutopiya advertising from AED 33 to 52 and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65. A qualified subject tutor online sits at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200, which is the one place where the two boards are priced differently by a provider who publishes figures at all.

Above that, an IB, IGCSE or A Level specialist runs AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase quoting AED 270 and Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table putting specialists at AED 200 to 450 or more. Premium named or examiner-led provision reaches AED 650 at BartyED. In-home visits sit at AED 180 to 350 on Bestimate's table and AED 200 to 500 with independent tutors, which is the travel premium made visible.

For a household, the useful planning figures are the monthly ones. The market shows AED 799 per month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 per month for four two-hour in-home sessions, and Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to 600 budget, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. Two children at the mid band is a real household commitment.

Which is why the sensible structure is rarely two weekly subjects all year. Weekly continuity where the foundation is still being built, blocks where a deadline sits, and a deliberate decision each term about which child needs the money more. Every figure here is the published rate of the provider named, cited so you can check it; none of it is an IB Gram price list.

Moving school, changing regulator

Households running two boards are often households that have moved, and in the UAE moving school can mean changing regulator. Sharjah's private schools answer to the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which regulates private education in the emirate and, in Sharjah's case, approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. That is a broader remit than parents moving from Dubai expect.

The full map is worth carrying. Dubai is KHDA. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are ADEK, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. Sharjah is SPEA. Ras Al Khaimah has its own Department of Knowledge, which also approves fees, curricula and assessment methods. Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah sit under the federal Ministry of Education, which supervises private schools in those three emirates.

The mandatory UAE subjects follow the child regardless. Arabic, Islamic Education and social or moral studies are required in UAE private schools whatever international curriculum is licensed. KHDA's published requirements calculate instructional time in forty-minute lesson units, require separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and state that using different or additional content without prior Ministry permission is not allowed.

What no regulator covers is your tutor. Private tutoring sits with MoHRE under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and the private tuition work permit is granted free of charge for two years to applicants including school teachers, public and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. Applications run through the MoHRE smart app and e-services system. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from SPEA, KHDA, ADEK, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB.

Where the integrity line sits on both boards

  • Teaching, criterion explanation and feedback on the student's own draft: yes, on both boards
  • Writing, completing or finishing assessed work: never, at any price
  • Official papers and mark schemes as downloads: no, we link the source instead
  • A tutor who also marks your child's school work: no

Both boards have assessed work produced at home, and both treat outside authorship as malpractice. The IB side is the more exposed, because internal assessments, the Extended Essay and the TOK essay are written over months. This market contains providers selling completed Internal Assessments, with one page in this research advertising finished IAs at AED 3,750. The consequence for a student is not a lower grade; it is a finding against the qualification.

The boundary is the same on both boards. A tutor may teach content, explain how criteria or mark schemes award marks, discuss a research question the student proposed, model structure on a different example, read a draft the student wrote and say where the argument is unsupported, and teach referencing and data handling properly.

A tutor may not write, rewrite, complete or edit assessed work to a finished state, and may not produce a worked version of the student's own task. We also do not reproduce or supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables as downloads. We reference them and link the official source, because reproducing them is a copyright matter rather than a judgement call.

One further rule applies to teachers. ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Treat the ADEK wording as press-reported and verify it against the current policy document; the principle holds regardless and we will not arrange it.

07

Starting when two children need different things

  • Decide which child the term's budget is for, explicitly
  • Four facts per child before the first trial: board or level, tier, deadlines, marked work
  • Book both trials on one evening, back to back
  • Review the two children separately at four weeks

Begin by deciding which child the money is for this term. That sounds cold and it is the most useful decision a two-board household makes, because the alternative is two thin arrangements that neither child notices. Usually the answer is the one closer to a terminal assessment, with the other child picked up in the following term.

Then collect four things per child: the board and syllabus code or the subject and level, the tier or Higher and Standard Level choice, the school's internal deadline schedule, and one recent piece of marked work. With those we can match specialists rather than guess, and a specialist who has seen the marked work will tell you something useful in the first hour.

Book the two trials on the same evening, back to back. You will learn more from comparing two diagnoses an hour apart than from two conversations a fortnight apart, and you will also find out immediately whether the back-to-back structure works for your household or whether one child needs a different day entirely.

Then review at four weeks against evidence agreed in advance, per child, separately. The commonest failure in a two-child arrangement is that one is working well and the other is drifting, and an undifferentiated review hides it. If a match is wrong we change that specialist and leave the working one alone.

Expect the balance between the two children to shift at least twice across a year, and plan for that rather than resisting it. A Diploma student who was stable in October can be overwhelmed in February when three internal deadlines arrive together, and an IGCSE student who needed nothing in the autumn needs a great deal in April. Reviewing which child the hours belong to at the start of each term, rather than once at the start of the year, is what keeps the spending proportionate to the problem.

08

Honest limits on what we can cover

  • Mainstream subjects: two to four days to match
  • Narrow HL options and 0606 or 0478: five to ten days, sometimes longer
  • Weekend mornings match faster and draw stronger tutors
  • No IB session dates published here; confirm with your coordinator

Some combinations are harder to staff than others and you should hear it before you pay. Mainstream Diploma subjects and Extended-tier IGCSE subjects match within two to four days, often inside forty-eight hours. Less common Higher Level options, second-language subjects and narrow IGCSE subjects such as Computer Science 0478 or Additional Mathematics 0606 take five to ten days and sometimes longer.

When no UAE-based specialist is free in your evening window, the realistic answer is a specialist in another timezone whose working hours overlap Sharjah's evening, or a weekend-morning slot. We say which it is, and we say it before any commitment. No competitor researched in this market discloses a coverage limit, and several route UAE parents to overseas phone numbers without mentioning where delivery actually happens.

The weekday evening between 4.30pm and 7.30pm is the most contested window in the entire schedule, because that is when every family in Sharjah wants a lesson. A household willing to take a weekend morning for one of its two children will see shorter match times and usually a stronger tutor. For a two-child household that is the cheapest piece of leverage available.

We also will not pretend about dates. Cambridge and Pearson dates on this page come from the boards' own published material with the source's framing. IB session dates are not restated here, because the IB's site blocks automated verification and a wrong date is worse than an absent one. Ask your school's IB coordinator and work from the internal deadline schedule they publish.

The nearest dense school cluster and where most Al Nouf secondary students study. Plenty of teachers work here; almost none are free at the hour a family needs, because they are still at school.

University City

Close by and full of undergraduates, which is where the AED 33 to 65 budget band comes from. Genuinely useful for lower-secondary support and thin above Extended tier or at Higher Level.

Al Zahia

Nearer the schools, so families there have roughly half an hour more afternoon than Al Nouf households. The same tutors are available to both, and they are available to Al Zahia first.

Al Majaz

Central Sharjah, heavily Dubai-facing for school and work, and far enough that a tutor coming from there to Al Nouf at five o'clock is making a serious journey for one hour.

Aljada

Newer and filling fast, with shifting traffic patterns that make an in-person commitment across the city hard to sustain. Families here commonly hold a weekend morning as the reliable session.

Sharjah Garden City

Inland, residential and almost identical to Al Nouf in profile. Worth knowing because it is often the comparison families make when they wonder whether a different district would solve the problem. It would not.

Tilal City

Still developing, with limited provision of any kind. For a Diploma HL option or Additional Mathematics 0606, the nearest specialist is realistically not nearby at all, whatever a map-based search returns.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Nouf

Muwaileh and University City

Where most Al Nouf IGCSE students study, and the slowest afternoon exit in this part of Sharjah. The younger child in a two-child household usually comes from here and so takes the earlier evening slot.

  • Wesgreen International School
  • American School of Creative Science, Muwaileh
  • The Westminster School Sharjah
  • Delhi Private School Sharjah
  • Sharjah American International School

Central Sharjah IB and British provision

Victoria International School of Sharjah is the emirate's established IB continuum option, and Sharjah English School the long-standing British-curriculum one. A Diploma student from here arrives home later than an IGCSE sibling from Muwaileh.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Sharjah English School
  • GEMS Millennium School Sharjah
  • Emirates National School, Sharjah
  • Al Maaref Private School

Dubai-side Diploma places

A minority of Sharjah families drive into Dubai for an IB place. Those students are the latest home in any household and effectively define when the second slot of the evening can start.

  • Deira International School
  • Dubai International Academy
  • GEMS Wellington Academy
  • Universal American School, Dubai

Schools are named as context for where students in this part of Sharjah study. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any school named, and none is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us about the household, not just the student

How many children, which board each is on, which schools, what time each gets home, and whether a sibling collection sits between them. A two-child arrangement in Al Nouf lives or dies on whether the two slots fit one evening, and that is decided before any tutor is chosen.

  2. 02

Give us the codes and the levels

Syllabus code and tier for the IGCSE child, subject and Higher or Standard Level for the Diploma child, plus the school's internal deadline schedule. Those are different matches, and we would rather make two precise ones than one convenient one.

  3. 03

    Two free trials, same evening

Both children get a diagnostic trial lesson, back to back, with their own specialist. You get a written diagnosis for each and you find out in one evening whether the consecutive-slot structure actually works in your house. Nothing is paid before either trial.

  4. 04

Set slots and a shared fallback day

A standing time for each child in Gulf Standard Time and one agreed alternative day that covers both. Deadline weeks arrive four or five times a year on each board, and a slot that can move survives them while a slot that can only be cancelled does not.

  5. 05

    Review each child separately

At four weeks we check each arrangement against its own agreed evidence, because the common failure is one child progressing while the other drifts. If one match is wrong we change that specialist and leave the other alone.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Two specialists, not one compromise

An Extended-tier IGCSE Chemistry session and a Diploma HL Chemistry session are different jobs with different assessment models. A distance-filtered search forces an Al Nouf household into one tutor covering both. Removing the distance filter is what lets each child have the right one.

One evening, both children

Consecutive online slots mean a single supervised stretch of the evening instead of two separate arrangements on different days. No amount of driving produces that, because two in-person tutors on one evening means two journeys into inland Sharjah at the worst hour.

We publish our coverage limits

The honest-limits section names the subjects that take five to ten days to match and says when a specialist would be outside the UAE. No competitor in this research discloses a limit, and several conceal non-UAE delivery entirely. You should know before you commit, not after.

Every rate attributed and dated

The AED figures here carry the provider that published them and the month they were read. For a two-child household that matters more than for one, because the monthly commitment doubles and you should be able to check the arithmetic yourself.

Right on the calendars, silent where we should be

We state that UAE Cambridge candidates sit June and November and that February and March is India only, which several ranking pages get wrong. We publish no IB session date, because the IB's own site cannot be verified automatically and a wrong date is worse than none.

The same integrity line on both boards

Tutors teach, explain criteria and give feedback on the student's own draft. They do not write or finish assessed work on either board, and we do not distribute official papers or mark schemes. In a market where completed internal assessments are sold openly, that line is the product.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Nouf: your questions answered

Can one tutor cover both my IGCSE child and my Diploma child in Al Nouf?+

They can, and we would rather they did not. An IGCSE Extended-tier session is about terminal-paper technique against a specific mark scheme; a Diploma Higher Level session adds an internally assessed investigation with its own published criteria. A tutor who offers both will be stronger at one. An in-person arrangement in this district tends to force the compromise, because the pool prepared to drive inland after four o'clock is not deep enough to supply two specialists. Online, both children get their own.

Is anyone in Al Nouf itself available to teach the Diploma Programme?+

Possibly, and that is not the right question to ask first. Al Nouf is residential, with no school inside it, so the people who teach the Diploma locally are either at work until the afternoon or living elsewhere. Searching by distance keeps whoever is free and nearby and discards most people who have actually taught Higher Level through two full cycles. Searching by subject and level keeps the specialists and discards nothing except physical presence, which is the trade we would make.

How do we fit two children's tutoring into one Sharjah evening?+

Back-to-back slots, younger child first. A typical Al Nouf arrangement puts the IGCSE child at 4.30pm, once they are home from Muwaileh or University City and have eaten, and the Diploma child at 6pm, which allows for a later finish and a longer journey. One parent supervises one stretch of the evening instead of two. Each child has their own specialist, and the two sessions share a single agreed fallback day for weeks when a school deadline lands badly.

What should we do in the summer before the Diploma Programme starts?+

Three specific things, none of which require daily work. Settle the mathematics route against the universities your child is considering, because Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation lead to different options and a wrong placement costs a year. Learn how an internally assessed investigation works before the first one is due. And practise sustained argument, which no IGCSE paper ever asked for. Six to ten sessions across July and August does this, and it changes the whole first term.

Which exam series does each of my children sit?+

For Cambridge IGCSE in the UAE, the June series and the November series; the February and March series is offered to India only, so disregard any page quoting it here. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November, with its November 2026 final timetable running to 19 November 2026. UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session, and we deliberately publish no specific IB date because the IB's site blocks automated checking. Ask your school's IB coordinator for both the session dates and the internal deadline schedule.

When in the year do both children need support at the same time?+

March and April, reliably. Diploma internal assessment deadlines, the May session revision period, IGCSE mocks and the June series preparation all land within a few weeks. A household that has not planned for it finds both children needing maximum support in the same month, which is the most expensive way to buy tutoring. Front-load instead: use the autumn and the winter break for Diploma internal assessments and the Extended Essay, and keep the IGCSE child on a steady weekly hour from September.

Does Additional Mathematics 0606 matter if my child wants IB Higher Level maths?+

It is the single most useful signal available. Additional Mathematics 0606 covers calculus and trigonometry beyond the 0580 syllabus, which means a student who copes with it has already met the kind of material Higher Level Analysis and Approaches assumes. A student who struggles with 0606 will find HL Analysis and Approaches very hard, and that is worth knowing in Year 11 rather than in the second term of DP1. Take it even where the school presents it as optional.

How much should a Sharjah household budget for two children?+

Double the single-child figure and then decide whether that is sustainable, because most families find it is not all year. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to 600 at the budget band, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support, read in October 2026. The workable structure is usually weekly continuity for one child and concentrated blocks for the other, with the priority reviewed each term rather than set once.

We moved from a Dubai school to a Sharjah one. What changed?+

The regulator, and possibly the subject availability. Dubai private schools fall under KHDA; Sharjah's fall under SPEA, which in this emirate approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. That broader remit means a subject your child was taking may simply not be offered, which is worth checking before the transfer rather than after. The mandatory UAE subjects follow the child either way: Arabic, Islamic Education and social or moral studies are required whatever curriculum is licensed.

Can a tutor look at my child's Diploma internal assessment and the IGCSE coursework?+

They can read what each child has written and say where the argument is unsupported, the method unclear or the brief unanswered, explain how the criteria or mark scheme award marks, and teach referencing and data handling. They cannot write, rewrite, complete or finish either piece, and cannot produce a worked version of the student's own task. The rule is the same on both boards. Providers here sell completed internal assessments outright, and buying one converts a grade worry into a malpractice finding.

How long does it take to match tutors for two different boards?+

For mainstream combinations, two to four days each and often inside forty-eight hours, which means both children can usually be matched in the same week. For narrower requirements, a less common Higher Level option or an IGCSE subject such as Computer Science 0478, allow five to ten days and expect us to tell you whether the specialist is UAE-based or teaching into your evening from elsewhere. Taking a weekend morning for one of the two children shortens both timelines noticeably.

Is the MYP easier than IGCSE for a student of the same age?+

Neither is easier; they measure different things, and comparing siblings or cousins across the two causes a lot of unnecessary worry in Sharjah households. The Middle Years Programme assesses eight subject groups against four criteria each, rewarding process, reflection and application. IGCSE rewards precision against a mark scheme under timed conditions. A student who thrives in one may need real adjustment in the other, and the tutoring for each looks different in both content and habit.

What happens if nobody local can teach an unusual Higher Level option?+

We tell you before you commit, and then we offer a specialist whose working hours overlap the Sharjah evening or a weekend-morning slot, saying plainly which one it is and where the tutor is based. What we will not do is accept the booking and hand your child to someone learning the option alongside them. No competitor researched in this market publishes a coverage limit at all, and several route UAE families to overseas numbers without saying where delivery actually happens.

Do you support Arabic alongside both curricula?+

We can support Arabic language work, within real constraints that are worth knowing. Arabic, Islamic Education and social or moral studies are mandatory in UAE private schools whatever international curriculum is licensed. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and states that using different or additional content for the mandatory subjects without prior Ministry permission is not permitted. Note also that Arabic does not count towards the five subjects required for Ministry equivalency on the British track.

Which child should we start with if we can only afford one?+

Usually the one closer to a terminal assessment, because that is where a term of work converts into a grade that gets recorded. A Year 11 IGCSE student in January has a harder deadline than a DP1 student in January, even though the DP1 student has more work. The exception is an internal assessment at risk: a Diploma internal assessment that goes in badly cannot be repaired later, while an IGCSE paper can be resat in November. Decide explicitly, and revisit it next term.

Two children, two specialists, one evening

If you searched for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Nouf, you are most likely running two curricula under one roof and trying to make them fit one afternoon. Send us four things for each child: the board and syllabus code or the subject and level, the tier or Higher and Standard Level choice, the school's internal deadline schedule, and one recent piece of marked work. We will match a specialist to each, propose back-to-back slots in Gulf Standard Time with a shared fallback day, and run two free trial lessons on the same evening so you can compare the diagnoses an hour apart. Lessons are live, one-to-one and online.
