IB DP Business Management Tutor in Sharjah

An IB DP business management tutor in Sharjah who works the way the subject is actually marked: the pre-released case study, the data-response calculations, the four course concepts, and the business research project that carries a quarter of the final grade. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so a session can start once the Dubai-bound school run is back in Al Nahda or Al Majaz. The first lesson is free and the tutor's working notes stay with your child afterwards.

  • Tutors who teach the current five-unit guide, not the pre-2024 course
  • Calculation drills: break-even, ratios, cash flow, investment appraisal
  • Research project coaching kept inside IB academic-honesty rules

IB & IGCSE in Sharjah

Business Management is a numerate essay subject, and that is why it catches students out

Most students who struggle with IB Diploma Business Management are not struggling with business. They are struggling with a subject that asks them to calculate a break-even point in one question and argue about organisational ethics in the next, and that marks the two in completely different ways. A student who is comfortable with numbers writes thin evaluation. A student who writes beautifully loses marks because the cash-flow forecast does not balance. Both arrive at a 4 or a 5 and nobody can quite say why.

The current guide, taught in Sharjah schools alongside the rest of the Diploma, organises the course into five units and runs a set of analytical tools across all of them. Unit 1 sets up business organisation, objectives and the external environment. Unit 2 is human resource management. Unit 3 is finance and accounts, which is where the arithmetic lives. Unit 4 is marketing. Unit 5 is operations management. Sitting over the top are the four concepts the course is built on: creativity, change, ethics and sustainability. Those concepts are not decoration. They are the spine of the extended-response marks.

The assessment has three parts. One written paper is built on a case study that schools receive before the examination, so the organisation is known in advance and the questions are not. A second written paper is unseen and carries the data-response work, where candidates read a stimulus, run a calculation and then interpret what the number means for the business. The third part is the business research project, internally marked by the school and externally moderated by the IB, and it is worth a quarter of the grade at both levels. Higher Level students study additional content and sit longer papers.

For a Sharjah family, the practical problem is usually access rather than ability. Business Management is a popular Diploma choice, but the pool of tutors in the emirate who have taught the current guide and marked against its criteria is small. A parent in Al Majaz or Muwaileh who wants a Business Management specialist, rather than a general commerce tutor, is choosing from whoever happens to live within a reasonable drive. That is a geography problem, and it is the one problem online delivery genuinely solves. IB Gram matches your child to a Business Management specialist and the lesson runs over live video, one to one, on your schedule.

This page is written to be useful before you contact anyone. It sets out what each component rewards, where the marks actually go missing, what the Sharjah tutoring market charges in AED, what SPEA and the Ministry of Education require, and exactly what a tutor is allowed to do with a research project. If you read nothing else, read the section on command terms. More Business Management marks are lost to misreading the instruction word than to not knowing the content.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Business Management sits at the end of a longer path. A Sharjah student usually arrives in the Diploma from the Middle Years Programme or from an IGCSE Business Studies course, and the gap between those starting points and Diploma expectations is the first thing a tutor should diagnose.

DPAges 16-19 - Years 12-13 - DP1 and DP2

Diploma Programme Business Management

Business Management sits in Group 3, individuals and societies, and can be taken at Standard or Higher Level. Both levels cover the five units and the four concepts; Higher Level adds depth and a wider set of quantitative tools, including the more demanding investment appraisal and budgeting work. The assessment combines a paper built on a pre-released case study, an unseen paper carrying the data-response questions, and the internally assessed business research project. Students choose it expecting an easier Group 3 option and discover a subject with real arithmetic in it.

In Sharjah, Business Management is frequently taken by students who intend to apply to the American University of Sharjah, the University of Sharjah or a UK business school, and the subject's reputation as a soft option is the source of most of the trouble. Tutors working with Sharjah candidates spend the first sessions checking whether the student can actually produce a correct contribution-per-unit figure under time pressure, because that single skill props up a third of the data-response marks.

MYPAges 11-16 - MYP Years 1-5

Middle Years Programme - individuals and societies

The Middle Years Programme does not teach Business Management as a named subject. It teaches individuals and societies against four criteria: knowing and understanding, investigating, communicating, and thinking critically. Students who did well under those criteria arrive in the Diploma able to structure an argument but unused to applying a named analytical tool to a specific organisation, and unused to being marked on a calculation. The transition is less about new content than about new precision.

Sharjah has a smaller MYP cohort than Dubai, so a Diploma Business Management class in the emirate often mixes students from an MYP background with students arriving from CBSE, from a British Year 11 and from the American track. A Sharjah tutor has to establish which of those four routes a student came through before deciding whether the first problem is quantitative confidence, essay structure or the habit of writing about a business in general terms rather than the one in the stimulus.

IGCSEAges 14-16 - Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson IGCSE Business Studies - the pre-Diploma route

Many Sharjah students reach Diploma Business Management from Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies or the Pearson equivalent. Those courses cover similar territory, including business objectives, stakeholders, marketing mix and basic finance, but reward recall and short application far more heavily than the Diploma does. A student with a strong IGCSE grade can still lose marks in DP1 for writing a correct textbook definition where the question asked for an evaluation of a decision the stimulus organisation has already taken.

Because so many Sharjah schools run a British lower-secondary programme and then offer either A-Levels or the Diploma, a student may be choosing between Cambridge International A-Level Business and DP Business Management in Year 11. The decision matters for university applications in the UAE and abroad, and it changes what tutoring is for: an A-Level route is content-heavy and modular, while the Diploma route spreads one research project across two years.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Business Management is rarely the only subject in play. A Sharjah Diploma student typically wants one or two subjects supported in the same term, and the combinations below are the ones that come up most often alongside Business Management in this emirate.

Business Management

HL and SL

The five units, the four concepts, and the toolkit of named analytical models. Marks are most often lost in the finance and accounts calculations and in extended responses that describe rather than evaluate. Sessions typically alternate between a timed calculation set and a marked written answer.

Economics

HL and SL

Taken together with Business Management by a large share of Sharjah Diploma students. The overlap is smaller than families assume: Economics wants diagrams, models and evaluation of policy, while Business Management wants application to a named organisation. Confusing the two writing styles costs marks in both.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

The usual mathematics pairing for a business-leaning Diploma. Its statistics and financial mathematics content supports the ratio, depreciation and investment appraisal work directly, which is why a weak Applications and Interpretation grade usually shows up as weak data-response marks as well.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Extended-response marks in Business Management depend on being able to build and sustain a judgement in writing. Students who are weak in the English A extended-response work are rarely strong in the Business Management essay questions, and the two can be supported in parallel.

Psychology

HL and SL

A frequent third Group 3 choice. Its research-methods content transfers usefully into the business research project, particularly the parts about sampling, questionnaire design and the limits of what a small sample can show about an organisation.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Taken by Sharjah students aiming at technology and management degrees. The overlap with Business Management shows up in the operations management unit and in any research project that examines a company's systems, data handling or automation decisions.

Arabic A and Arabic B

HL, SL and ab initio

Arabic language provision runs alongside the international curriculum in Sharjah private schools under federal requirements. For a Business Management student doing primary research with a local company, Arabic ability also changes which organisations can realistically be interviewed.

Geography

HL and SL

Shares the data-interpretation discipline with Business Management: read the resource, use the figure, then say what it means. Students often transfer good Geography resource technique into their business data-response answers once it is pointed out to them.

Theory of Knowledge

Core - graded A to E

Theory of Knowledge marks combine with the Extended Essay for additional Diploma points. Business Management students frequently use the subject as a Theory of Knowledge example, which makes the two easy to support in the same term.

Extended Essay

Core - 4,000 words

Business Management is a common Extended Essay subject in Sharjah because local organisations are accessible for research. Supervision belongs to the school; a tutor's role is question framing, research design and feedback on the student's own drafts.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

There are three realistic ways to run Business Management support for a Sharjah Diploma student, and they suit different points in the two-year course. The research project needs a different rhythm from exam preparation, and paying for weekly hours when a student needs a concentrated block is the most common way families waste money.

Weekly one-to-one across the Diploma

A fixed sixty or ninety minute slot each week, running with the school's teaching order so the tutor reinforces the unit being taught rather than a different one. This is the right shape for DP1, when the aim is to build the finance and accounts arithmetic and the habit of applying a named tool to a named organisation before the research project starts.

  • Follows the school's unit sequence, not a generic curriculum order
  • One timed calculation set and one marked written answer per session
  • A short written note after each lesson so parents can see what moved

A research project block

Six to ten sessions concentrated around the business research project, from choosing a researchable question to reviewing the student's own final draft. The work is structured as coaching: the tutor interrogates the question, checks whether the proposed primary research can actually be collected in Sharjah, and gives feedback against the published criteria.

  • Question framing against the five units and the four concepts
  • Research design, sampling and the limits of a small sample
  • Feedback on the student's own drafts, with no text supplied by the tutor

An examination clinic in DP2

Short, frequent sessions in the final term built entirely around past material: the pre-released case study, timed data-response questions, and extended responses marked against the criteria. The purpose is not to teach content again but to convert what the student already knows into marks under examination conditions.

  • Timed question practice marked and returned with criteria references
  • Command-term drills until the instruction word drives the answer shape
  • A written list of the three errors that repeat, revisited each session

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Sharjah

01

What an IB DP Business Management tutor in Sharjah actually does in a session

  • A trial lesson should produce a diagnosis in writing, not a sales pitch
  • Ask which errors the tutor found, and ask to see the marked answer
  • A good session ends with one named thing to practise before the next

An IB DP business management tutor in Sharjah does three things in a typical hour: fixes a calculation the student cannot yet produce reliably, marks a written answer against the published criteria, and names the specific error that will repeat in the examination. Nothing else in a session is worth the money. Content delivery is what the school is for, and a tutor who spends the hour re-teaching the marketing mix is usually filling time rather than diagnosing.

The diagnosis comes first. In a trial lesson a Business Management specialist will typically hand a student a short stimulus with a table of figures and ask for a contribution per unit, a break-even quantity and one sentence on what that number means for the organisation. The response tells the tutor almost everything. A student who gets the arithmetic right but writes nothing about the business has an application problem. A student who writes fluently about the business and produces the wrong figure has a numeracy problem. A student who asks which formula to use has not built the habit of reading a stimulus for the data it actually contains.

After that, the work is cumulative and narrow. The finance and accounts unit gets drilled until the student can move between a profit and loss account, a balance sheet and a cash-flow forecast without re-reading the headings. The named analytical tools get attached to real organisations rather than learned as lists. Extended-response answers get marked, returned with criteria references, and rewritten. The same three errors get written down and revisited until they stop appearing. This is unglamorous and it is the whole job.

For a Sharjah family the delivery detail matters as much as the pedagogy. Lessons are one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time, with screen sharing so the tutor and the student annotate the same stimulus at the same time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. What a Sharjah family gets instead is a Business Management specialist rather than whoever can reach Al Majaz by half past five.

02

The five units, and the analytical toolkit that runs across all of them

The current Business Management guide is organised into five units, and the thing that trips students up is that the examination does not respect those boundaries. A single extended-response question can ask about a change of organisational structure in Unit 2, its effect on operations capacity in Unit 5, and its implications for cash flow in Unit 3. Students who have revised unit by unit, with a separate set of notes for each, often cannot cross those boundaries under time pressure.

Running across the units is a set of named analytical tools. Some are familiar from IGCSE, such as SWOT analysis and the marketing mix. Others are specific to this course and are where the easy marks sit, because they are concrete and examinable: a STEEPLE analysis of an external environment, an Ansoff matrix for a growth decision, a decision tree with expected values, a force field analysis for a change proposal, Hofstede's cultural dimensions for an organisation operating across borders. A student who names the right tool and applies it to the stimulus organisation is already most of the way to the analysis marks.

The four concepts sit above everything. Creativity, change, ethics and sustainability are the lenses the extended-response questions are framed through. A student who can discuss a sustainability decision in terms of the organisation's actual operations, rather than in general terms about the environment, writes a materially better answer. In Sharjah this is easier than it sounds, because the emirate has a large manufacturing and logistics base in Hamriyah and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, and students can reason about real operational trade-offs rather than invented ones.

The table below maps each unit to the tools that attach to it and to the error pattern that shows up most often in that unit. It is the sheet to keep next to the student's own notes while revising.

THE FIVE UNITS, THEIR TOOLS AND THEIR TYPICAL ERROR PATTERN
UnitWhat it coversNamed tools that attach to itWhere marks typically go missing
Unit 1 - Introduction to business managementOrganisation types, objectives, stakeholders, the external environment, growth and evolutionSWOT, STEEPLE, Ansoff matrix, business planListing stakeholders without saying how the specific decision affects each one
Unit 2 - Human resource managementOrganisational structure, leadership, motivation, industrial relations, change managementHofstede's cultural dimensions, force field analysisDescribing a motivation theory instead of applying it to the named workforce
Unit 3 - Finance and accountsSources of finance, costs and revenues, break-even, final accounts, ratios, cash flow, investment appraisalBreak-even analysis, ratio analysis, cash-flow forecast, investment appraisalArithmetic slips, missing units, and a correct figure with no interpretation attached
Unit 4 - MarketingMarket research, the marketing mix, segmentation, branding, international and digital marketingDescriptive statistics, product life cycle, BCG matrixGeneric marketing-mix recall where the question asked about one element of it
Unit 5 - Operations managementProduction methods, quality, location, supply chain, research and development, sustainability in operationsCircular business models, break-even in an operations context, critical path at Higher LevelTreating sustainability as a general good rather than an operational trade-off
03

How the three assessed components reward completely different things

Business Management is assessed through two written papers and one piece of internally assessed work, and each rewards a different skill. Students who prepare for all three in the same way underperform in at least one. The paper built on the pre-released case study rewards deep familiarity with one organisation and the discipline to answer the question asked rather than reciting what was researched. The unseen paper rewards speed of reading, correct calculation and the ability to interpret a figure in context. The business research project rewards research design and sustained analysis over months.

The pre-released case study is the component families misunderstand most. Schools receive the case in advance, students research the organisation thoroughly, and then a predictable failure occurs in the examination hall: the candidate writes everything known about the company instead of answering the question in front of them. Preparation for this paper should be half research and half restraint. A tutor's job here is to set questions on the released case that the student has not seen, and mark the discipline of answering them.

The business research project is worth a quarter of the final grade at both Standard and Higher Level, which makes it the single largest assessed item in the course. It is marked by the school's teacher and then externally moderated by the IB, so the school's judgement can move either way after moderation. This is why the project is worth tutoring early. A project built on a question that cannot be researched, or on primary data that was never realistically collectable, cannot be rescued in the final month however well it is written.

The table sets out what each component rewards and where candidates lose marks. Durations, section structures and exact weightings are set in the current subject guide and have changed with recent revisions, so confirm those details with your child's Diploma coordinator rather than with a tutoring website.

THE THREE COMPONENTS - WHAT EACH REWARDS AND HOW MARKS ARE LOST

04

The business research project: what a tutor may do, and what a tutor must never do

  • The student's own words, their own question, their own method - every time
  • A tutor's feedback belongs in comments, never in the document body
  • Local small and medium-sized firms are the most underused Sharjah research source
  • Acknowledging a small sample honestly earns more than pretending it was large

This section exists because the Sharjah search results for Business Management tutoring include services that will supply a finished piece of coursework for a fee. That is academic malpractice under IB rules, the consequence falls on the student rather than the provider, and it can end a Diploma. IB Gram does not supply written work for any assessed component, and no tutor working through this platform may write, edit to completion, or hand over text for a research project.

What a tutor may do is substantial. A tutor may interrogate the research question until it is answerable with data the student can actually obtain. A tutor may explain what the published criteria reward and what they penalise. A tutor may teach questionnaire design, sampling and the arithmetic needed to analyse the results. A tutor may read the student's own draft and say, in writing, that the analysis section describes data rather than interpreting it. A tutor may teach referencing conventions and the difference between citing a source and leaning on it. All of that is teaching, and all of it is permitted.

What a tutor may not do is write a sentence that then appears in the submitted work, restructure the student's draft into a new document, or supply a question, a method or an analysis the student has not reasoned through. The practical test is simple and worth applying at home: if the student cannot explain in their own words why a paragraph says what it says, that paragraph should not be in the project. Schools in Sharjah, like schools everywhere, require a declaration of authenticity, and the supervising teacher is required to judge whether the work is the student's own.

There is a Sharjah-specific opportunity in all of this. Primary research is easier here than families assume. The emirate has a large base of small and medium-sized businesses in Industrial Area, Al Qasimia and the free zones, many of them family-run and willing to answer a student's questions if the approach is professional. A project built on a short interview with an operations manager in Hamriyah, with a small questionnaire and honest acknowledgement of the sample size, usually outperforms a project built entirely on a multinational's published annual report.

05

Command terms are the mark scheme, and most lost marks start here

Every Business Management question opens with a command term, and that word tells the candidate exactly what structure the answer must have. Students who treat the command term as decoration and simply write what they know about the topic are the single largest group of underperformers in this subject. The fix is mechanical and fast: learn what each term requires, then let it dictate the shape of the answer before a word is written.

The hierarchy matters. The lowest-tariff terms ask for recall or identification and should be answered in a line or two, not a paragraph; writing four paragraphs for a two-mark identification question costs time that the extended response needs. Mid-tariff terms ask for explanation, which means a causal chain with the organisation named at each step. The high-tariff terms are where the grade is decided, because they ask for judgement: a discussion weighs positions, an evaluation reaches a supported conclusion, and a recommendation commits to a course of action and defends it against the alternative.

The commonest single failure in the high-tariff questions is the absent conclusion. A student writes two balanced sides, runs out of time or nerve, and stops. Balance without judgement cannot access the top marks, because the criteria reward a substantiated conclusion. The second commonest failure is a conclusion that arrives without having been earned, usually in the form of a general statement about business that would be true of any organisation. Both are trainable in a handful of sessions.

The table below is the version to keep on the desk. It pairs each command term with what the examiner is looking for and with the specific thing a weak answer does instead.

COMMAND TERMS IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT - WHAT EACH ONE DEMANDS

What Business Management tutoring costs in Sharjah, in AED

Nobody in this market publishes rates in dirhams, which is strange given that dirhams are what Sharjah families pay in. The figures below are market rates gathered from providers' own published pages and from a published Dubai tutoring rate survey in 2026. They are not IB Gram's price list. They are here so that you can tell whether a quote you receive is normal, high or implausibly low, and so that you can see what actually moves the number.

Four things change the figure. Level is the first: Higher Level commands more than Standard Level because the content is wider and fewer tutors cover it confidently. Proximity to the examination session is the second, and it is the largest single factor; the same tutor who has capacity in October has none in March. Format is the third, with in-home visits carrying travel time inside the hourly rate. Subject scarcity is the fourth, and it is the one that matters for Business Management specifically: there are far more mathematics and physics tutors in this market than there are tutors who have taught the current Business Management guide and marked against its criteria.

A note on the cheapest band. Rates below roughly AED 150 an hour in this market usually mean a university student or a generalist rather than a subject specialist, and for a numerate essay subject that is a false economy. A generalist can hear a student recite the marketing mix. A specialist can look at one marked extended response and say which criterion is capping the grade. Equally, the top of the market is not automatically better value; a very high hourly rate buys scarcity and reputation, not necessarily a better diagnosis.

Read the table as bands rather than prices, and always ask three questions of any quote: is it per hour or per session, does it include the written feedback, and what happens to the fee if a session is cancelled in Ramadan or during examination leave.

Online, in-home or small group: the honest comparison for a Sharjah family

Sharjah families searching for a home tutor are asking a reasonable question, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a redirection. In-home tutoring in this emirate is a real market with real advantages: a younger child stays in a familiar setting, a parent can see the session happening, and there is no technology to fail. It also carries costs that are rarely itemised. Travel time sits inside the hourly rate. The tutor pool shrinks to whoever is willing to drive to your community at the hour you need. Evening traffic on the Al Ittihad corridor and Al Wahda Street turns a thirty-minute journey into an hour twice a week, and the tutor prices that in.

For a Diploma subject like Business Management, the trade-off resolves differently than it would for primary mathematics. The scarce resource is not a tutor's presence in your living room; it is a tutor who has taught the current guide, marked the research project against its criteria, and knows which command term is costing your child marks. Restricting the search to people who can drive to Al Nahda or Kalba on a Tuesday evening reduces that pool sharply. Opening it to live video restores it.

To be explicit about what IB Gram sells: lessons for UAE families are delivered one-to-one over live video, with screen sharing so that the tutor and the student work on the same stimulus together. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Sharjah or anywhere else in the UAE. Home visits are an India-only service. That is a limit on what we provide, stated plainly, so that you can weigh it against the alternative rather than discover it after booking.

Small-group tuition is the third option and is worth more than its reputation suggests for the extended-response work specifically. Two or three students reading each other's answers against the criteria learn the difference between a balanced answer and a judged one faster than any explanation achieves. It works badly for the research project, where the work must be individual and the questions diverge immediately.

SPEA, the MoHRE tutoring permit, and what a Sharjah parent should verify

  • SPEA approves fees, curricula and assessment methods for Sharjah private schools
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years
  • Verify a permit through MoHRE's own channels, not a provider's claim
  • No published fine schedule exists, so treat quoted amounts as unverified

Private education in Sharjah is regulated by the Sharjah Private Education Authority. The federal government's own description is specific: SPEA regulates private education in the emirate, and the authority approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. That is a wider remit than inspection alone, and it is worth knowing because it differs from the arrangement a family may be used to. Dubai's private schools answer to KHDA; Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to ADEK; Ras Al Khaimah to its Department of Knowledge; and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah to the federal Ministry of Education. Sharjah's east-coast communities in Kalba and Khor Fakkan sit under SPEA with the rest of the emirate.

Private tutoring itself is regulated separately and federally. Individuals providing private lessons in the UAE need a private tuition work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, and the eligible categories are broad: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, and applications go through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Two things follow from that, and both are practical. The first is that anyone telling you a permit is optional, or quoting you a fee for one, is wrong on a point of public record. The second is that the permit carries a code of conduct, and a teacher at your child's own school tutoring your child privately is the arrangement most likely to breach it; in Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for school staff are reported to prohibit exactly that. Individuals who tutor without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No schedule of amounts is published, so any specific figure you see quoted should be treated with scepticism.

A final point of honesty about status. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform. It holds no accreditation, licence or partnership from SPEA, KHDA, ADEK, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and it has no office or centre in the UAE. A tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai would need a KHDA educational services permit for a training institute; we do not operate premises and do not claim that permit. Any provider telling you its tutors are regulator-approved is describing something that does not exist in that form.

Counting backwards: planning a Business Management year from the session date

Almost nothing in this subject can be fixed in the last month, and almost everything can be fixed with eight months of ordinary work. The reason families leave it late is that the Diploma's internal deadlines are invisible from outside the school. The examination session is a public date; the research project proposal deadline, the first draft deadline and the school's internal submission date are not, and those are the dates that actually govern the grade.

Start by asking the Diploma coordinator for three dates in writing: the school's internal deadline for the research project, the mock examination window, and the final entry deadline for the session your child is sitting. The entry deadline is the one parents never expect, because it falls months before the examination itself. The pattern is visible in the boards that publish their calendars openly. Pearson Edexcel's International GCSE runs in May/June and November series, and its November 2026 timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026 with results reaching students in January, as they did on 22 January 2026 for the November 2025 candidates. Entries for that session closed months before the first paper. Cambridge works the same way around its June series, with November as the resit route, and the exact entry date comes from the centre rather than from a published calendar. Note that the February and March series some sites quote is offered to India only, so it is not a comparison that applies here.

IB session dates are deliberately not published on this page. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, and a date restated from a secondary source is exactly the kind of detail that is wrong on a tutoring website and right nowhere else. Sharjah schools sit the May session, and that is the anchor to plan around; for the actual dates, ask the Diploma coordinator or check ibo.org directly. What can be planned without them is the sequence of work, which is what the table sets out.

Two Sharjah-specific scheduling factors belong in the plan. Ramadan shortens school hours and shifts family routines, and sessions generally move to post-Iftar slots for its duration; building that into the calendar in advance is better than losing four weeks to rescheduling. And Sharjah's public-sector working week differs from Dubai's, which changes which evenings a working parent is actually home, so confirm your own school's weekly calendar before fixing a recurring slot.

After the Diploma: Ministry of Education equivalency and what Sharjah families need to know

  • Five IGCSE or GCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education
  • Plus one A-Level at E or two AS-Levels at the same grade, on the British track
  • American track: SAT Math 450+, and English via IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT 450
  • No IB points threshold is published here - verify it on the Ministry's own site
  • Mandatory Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies sit on top of the Diploma timetable

A Diploma is a university entrance qualification, and in the UAE it also has to be recognised by the Ministry of Education before it can be used for local admission or employment purposes. This is the equivalency process, and it is the single most common gap in tutoring content about the UAE. Competitors in this market do not mention it at all, which leaves parents to find out about it from a university admissions office at the worst possible moment.

The rules that are on the public record are specific for the British track. A student presenting GCSE or IGCSE certificates must pass five accredited subjects with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must also present either one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. That last detail is worth repeating, because at least one provider ranking for UAE tutoring queries publishes a six-subject requirement, which is not what the published rule says.

For the American track, the published requirements include an English proficiency threshold met by a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and a mathematics requirement of at least 450 in the SAT Math test. For the IB Diploma specifically, no points threshold is published here, and this page will not invent one. If you need the IB figure, read it on the Ministry of Education's own site or ask the attestation authority directly. Equivalency is a process the Ministry runs; it is not something IB Gram performs, influences or can accelerate, and tutoring is not a requirement for it.

One further point specific to the UAE. Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies run alongside the international curriculum in private schools under federal requirements, regardless of which curriculum the school is licensed to teach. A Diploma student in Sharjah therefore carries a timetable load that a Diploma student in London does not, and that is a real constraint on how many hours of tutoring are sensible in a week. Two subjects at ninety minutes each is usually the ceiling before something else gives.

Where we tutor

Where in Sharjah we work with Diploma Business Management students

Sharjah is not one tutoring market. A family on the Dubai border is scheduling around a cross-emirate school run; a family in University City is next door to two universities; a family in Kalba is on the east coast with a different set of schooling options altogether. Each of those changes when a session can start.

Al Majaz and Al Khan

Dense corniche apartment districts close to the Dubai boundary. Many students here attend school in Sharjah city but have parents commuting into Dubai, so the realistic session window opens after 5pm on weekdays and is much wider at the weekend.

Al Nahda

The most Dubai-facing part of Sharjah, with a large share of children bussed to schools in Al Qusais and Mirdif. A 4pm start is rarely workable in term time; a 6.30pm or 7.30pm slot usually is, which is one reason online scheduling fits this area.

Muwaileh and Al Zahia

Newer villa and townhouse communities with several large private schools within a short drive. Business Management demand here tends to cluster in DP1 term two, when the research project proposal is first due.

Aljada and Al Mamsha

Recent mixed-use developments inside Sharjah city with a young resident profile. Families here are often new arrivals mid-Diploma, which produces a specific tutoring brief: catch up on a unit already taught and taught differently elsewhere.

University City and Al Tai

Built around the University of Sharjah and the American University of Sharjah. Students in this area frequently have a clear destination degree in mind, so Business Management tutoring here is often aimed at a specific admissions requirement rather than at rescuing a grade.

Al Qasimia and Al Taawun

Older central districts with heavy evening traffic on Al Wahda Street and the Al Ittihad corridor. Travel time is the deciding factor for in-home arrangements here; an online session removes it from the calculation entirely.

Kalba, Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al-Hisn

Sharjah's east-coast exclaves on the Gulf of Oman, still regulated by SPEA but with far fewer private-school options within reach. Subject-specialist Diploma tutoring is close to unavailable locally, and live video is what makes a Business Management specialist reachable at all.

Tilal City, Al Suyoh and Sharjah Garden City

Outlying residential developments where a tutor travelling from Dubai would spend longer in the car than in the lesson. Families in these communities are usually the quickest to accept online delivery once the arithmetic of travel time is spelled out.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Sharjah

Sharjah city centre - Al Majaz, Al Khan, Al Taawun and Al Qasimia

The central cluster holds the emirate's longest-established private schools across several curricula. Diploma cohorts here are small by Dubai standards, which means a Business Management class may be a single group of fifteen or twenty students taught by one teacher, with no second specialist to ask when a student falls behind.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Al Maaref Private School
  • The Westminster School Sharjah
  • Our Own English High School Sharjah
  • Sharjah American International School

Muwaileh, University City and Aljada

The growth corridor for private schooling in the emirate, serving the newer communities to the east of Sharjah city. Families here often choose between a British A-Level pathway and the Diploma at the end of Year 11, and Business Management is one of the subjects that tips the decision.

  • Wesgreen International School
  • The American School of Creative Science Sharjah
  • Scholars International Academy
  • Emirates National School Sharjah
  • Delhi Private School Sharjah

The Dubai border - Al Nahda families schooling in Al Qusais and Mirdif

A large number of Sharjah-resident students attend school in Dubai, which puts them under KHDA's remit for school matters while the family lives under SPEA's. For tutoring this matters only in one practical way: the school calendar, the inset days and the internal deadline dates are Dubai's, not Sharjah's.

  • GEMS Legacy School
  • Apple International School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • Universal American School
  • Deira International School

Schools are named here as context for the Sharjah education ecosystem. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no affiliation to, endorsement from or contract with any school named on this page, and programme offerings change, so confirm current provision with the school.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the level, the school and the problem

Standard or Higher Level, which school, which units have been taught, and what is actually going wrong. A marked extended response or a recent report is more useful than a description. If the research project is already underway, say where it has reached and what the supervising teacher has said about it.

  2. 02

We match a Business Management specialist

You are matched to a tutor who teaches the current guide at your child's level, not to a general commerce tutor. If no Business Management specialist is free in the Gulf Standard Time window you need, we say so and offer the nearest workable slot rather than filling the hour with whoever is available.

  3. 03

Take a free trial lesson and ask for the diagnosis

The first lesson is free and is a diagnostic. Expect a short stimulus, a calculation, a written answer, and then a named list of what is costing marks. Ask for that list in writing. A tutor who cannot produce it after an hour with your child is not the right tutor.

  4. 04

Agree a shape: weekly, a project block, or an examination clinic

DP1 usually wants a weekly slot following the school's unit order. A research project needs a concentrated block of six to ten sessions. The final term wants short, frequent, timed practice. Paying for weekly hours when a block is what is needed is the commonest way families overspend.

  5. 05

Track it against marked work, not against feeling

Progress in this subject is visible in marked answers and in whether the same errors reappear. Ask for the marked work and the error list each month. If the list is not getting shorter after six weeks, change something: the tutor, the frequency, or what the sessions are being spent on.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

A subject specialist, not whoever lives nearby

Business Management is a scarce specialism in Sharjah compared with mathematics or physics. Matching online rather than by postcode means your child works with someone who has taught the current five-unit guide and marked the research project, instead of a generalist who happens to be a short drive from Al Majaz.

Marked work, returned with criteria references

Every session should produce something marked. Extended responses come back with the criterion that capped the mark named explicitly, and calculation sets come back with the step where the arithmetic broke. That is the only evidence base that tells you whether tutoring is working.

Academic honesty treated as a hard line

No tutor working through IB Gram will write, complete or supply text for a research project, an Extended Essay or any assessed component. Coaching covers question framing, research design, criteria interpretation and feedback on the student's own drafts. This is a genuine difference from several providers in this search result.

Scheduling built for Sharjah, not imported from elsewhere

Sessions are set on Gulf Standard Time around a real Sharjah evening: after the Dubai school run, around prayer times, and post-Iftar during Ramadan. Tutors working across time zones are matched to the window you can actually keep, because a slot that is missed twice is worth nothing.

Rates in dirhams, with sources attached

The AED bands on this page come from providers' own published pages and a 2026 Dubai rate survey, with the source named. Nobody else in this market publishes dirham figures at all. You should be able to tell whether a quote is normal before you pick up the phone.

Honest about what we are not

IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no UAE office, no regulator accreditation and no school partnerships. Home visits are offered in India and not in the UAE. Knowing the limits of a service before you buy it is more useful than a longer list of claims.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Sharjah: your questions answered

How much does an IB DP Business Management tutor in Sharjah cost per hour?+

Market rates for an IB subject specialist in this region run roughly AED 150 to AED 450 an hour, with specialist agencies publishing figures in that band: Unitors lists IB tuition from AED 200, TutorChase publishes AED 270, and a 2026 Dubai rate survey reaches AED 450 and above for examination-year specialists. Below about AED 150 you are usually buying a generalist or a university student rather than someone who can mark a Business Management extended response against the criteria. Those are market figures, not IB Gram's price list. Ask us for a quote and take the free trial lesson before committing to any block.

Why is Business Management harder than Sharjah students expect?+

Because it is a numerate essay subject taken by students who chose it as a lighter Group 3 option. The finance and accounts unit demands reliable arithmetic under time pressure: break-even quantities, ratio calculations, cash-flow forecasts and investment appraisal. The extended-response questions demand a committed, defended judgement rather than a balanced list. Most students are comfortable with one of those demands and uncomfortable with the other, which is how a capable student lands on a 4 or 5. A tutor's first job is working out which half of the subject is the problem, because the remedy for each is completely different.

Can a tutor help with the business research project without breaking IB rules?+

Yes, and the boundary is clear. A tutor may interrogate the research question, teach questionnaire design and sampling, explain what the published criteria reward, teach the arithmetic needed to analyse results, and give written feedback on the student's own draft. A tutor may not write any part of the project, restructure a draft into new text, or supply a question, method or analysis the student has not reasoned through. The working test at home is whether your child can explain in their own words why each paragraph says what it says. If not, that paragraph should not be in the submitted work.

What is the pre-released case study and how should my child prepare for it?+

One of the written papers is built on a case study that schools receive before the examination, so the organisation is known in advance while the questions are not. Preparation is half research and half restraint. Students should know the organisation thoroughly, including its objectives, structure, market and finances, and should also practise answering unseen questions on it under timed conditions. The commonest failure in the hall is a candidate writing everything researched about the company rather than answering the question asked. A tutor's most useful contribution here is setting fresh questions on the released case and marking for relevance.

Do you have Business Management tutors who can teach at Higher Level?+

Yes. Higher Level is matched separately from Standard Level because the content is wider and the quantitative tools are more demanding, and far fewer tutors cover it confidently. When you enquire, say which level your child is sitting and which units the school has already taught. If no Higher Level Business Management specialist is free in the Gulf Standard Time window you need, we will tell you that rather than filling the slot with a Standard Level tutor and hoping. Matching honestly is slower and produces fewer wasted hours.

Which Sharjah schools do your Diploma Business Management students come from?+

Students we support attend private schools across the emirate, including the long-established central cluster around Al Majaz and Al Khan and the newer schools in Muwaileh, University City and Aljada. A significant number of Sharjah residents also attend school in Dubai, particularly families in Al Nahda, which means the school calendar and internal deadlines follow Dubai's. IB Gram has no affiliation with, endorsement from or contract with any school, and programme offerings change, so confirm with the school directly which Diploma subjects it currently runs at which levels.

Does SPEA regulate private tutoring in Sharjah?+

SPEA, the Sharjah Private Education Authority, regulates private education in the emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods for private schools. Private tutoring by individuals is regulated separately and federally, through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Anyone providing private lessons needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which is granted free of charge for two years. Tutoring without a permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no schedule of amounts has been published, so treat quoted figures as unverified.

Is online tutoring a real substitute for a tutor coming to our Sharjah home?+

For a Diploma subject, usually yes, and the reason is the tutor pool rather than the technology. Restricting your search to specialists willing to drive to Al Nahda, Muwaileh or Kalba at seven in the evening leaves very few people who have taught the current Business Management guide. Live video with screen sharing lets the tutor and your child annotate the same stimulus together, which is most of what a session needs. To be plain about the limit: IB Gram does not offer home visits in Sharjah or anywhere else in the UAE, and home visits are an India-only service.

When should a Sharjah student start Business Management tutoring?+

DP1 term two is the ideal point, because that is when the research project question is first discussed and when the finance and accounts arithmetic starts to matter. Starting there means the project can be built on a researchable question with time to collect real data, and the arithmetic can be made reliable before it is examined. Starting in DP2 still works for examination technique and command-term discipline, which move quickly. What cannot be fixed late is a research project built on a question that was never answerable with the data available.

How should we plan Business Management sessions around Ramadan in Sharjah?+

Yes, and it is better to plan for it in advance than to reschedule week by week. School hours shorten during Ramadan and family routines shift, so sessions generally move to a post-Iftar slot for the month. Agree the Ramadan timetable with your tutor before the month begins, including which weeks you want to pause entirely. Families who leave it until the first week usually lose two or three sessions to rescheduling, which matters more in DP2 than in DP1. Sharjah's public-sector working week also differs from Dubai's, so confirm which evenings genuinely work for your household.

How many Business Management sessions a week does a Sharjah student need?+

One ninety-minute session a week is the usual starting point in DP1, moving to two shorter sessions in the final term when timed practice matters more than new content. More than two a week in a single subject is rarely productive, because Diploma students in the UAE also carry mandatory Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies alongside their six subjects plus the core. The practical ceiling for most students is two subjects supported at ninety minutes each. Beyond that, something else in the week gives way and the extra hours stop converting into marks.

What should we ask a Business Management tutor in the first conversation?+

Four questions. Which version of the subject guide do you teach, and when did you last mark against its criteria? Can you mark an extended response and name the criterion that capped it? What will you do with the research project, and what will you refuse to do? And will I get the marked work and a written error list each month? A specialist answers all four without hesitation. Anyone who answers the research project question by offering to help produce the document should be ruled out immediately.

Is Business Management a good Diploma choice for a UAE university application?+

It is a widely accepted Group 3 subject and it is commonly taken by students applying to business and management degrees in the UAE and abroad. What matters more than the subject's reputation is the combination: a business-leaning Diploma usually pairs it with Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation and either Economics or Psychology. Check the specific entry requirements published by the universities your child is targeting, because some business programmes specify a mathematics route rather than a Group 3 subject. Tutoring is not a requirement for admission anywhere, and no provider can influence an admissions decision.

What happens in a free trial lesson for Business Management?+

The tutor gives your child a short stimulus with figures, asks for a calculation and an interpretation, then asks for a brief written answer to an extended-response prompt. That hour tells a specialist whether the problem is arithmetic, application, essay structure or command-term discipline. You should receive a written diagnosis afterwards naming the specific errors found and what the first four sessions would target. The trial is free with no card required and no obligation to book. If the diagnosis is vague, the right decision is to try a different tutor rather than to start a block.

Do you cover the Extended Essay in Business Management as well?+

Yes, as coaching rather than production. Business Management is a popular Extended Essay subject in Sharjah because local small and medium-sized firms are accessible for primary research. A tutor can help frame a researchable question, sanity-check whether the proposed research can actually be collected here, teach the analytical approach, and give written feedback on the student's own drafts. Supervision itself belongs to the school's assigned supervisor, and the 4,000 words must be the student's own work. We will not supply text for any part of it.

Start with a diagnosis, not a package

If your child is sitting IB Diploma Business Management in Sharjah and the grade is not moving, the useful next step is small: take one free trial lesson with a Business Management specialist and ask for a written diagnosis. You will get a named list of what is costing marks, whether that is break-even arithmetic, the absent conclusion in extended responses, or a research question that cannot be researched. Then decide whether you want a weekly slot, a project block or a DP2 examination clinic. Sessions run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and the tutor's working notes stay with your child. Tell us the level, the school and what the last marked piece of work said.
