IB Home Tutor in Khuzam

Looking for an IB home tutor in Khuzam means competing for a very small local pool, which makes timing the decisive variable rather than price. Specialist Diploma teachers are genuinely scarce in Ras Al Khaimah, and the ones who exist fill up as a series approaches. This page plans the two years around that reality, and explains how IB Gram removes the constraint by teaching one-to-one over live video.

  • Built around when scarce specialists actually have capacity
  • Grade 11 treated as the year the Diploma is decided
  • Lessons run online over live video, so the local pool stops being the limit
  • No IB exam or results date published that has not been verified

IB & IGCSE in Khuzam

In Ras Al Khaimah, timing is the scarce resource

Most pages about tutoring treat time as a convenience question and price as the real one. In Ras Al Khaimah the ranking is reversed. The private-school set here is small and concentrated around Al Nakheel, Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab, the Diploma cohort inside it is smaller again, and the number of teachers in the emirate who have actually taught a particular Higher Level option is often in single figures. When supply is that thin, the question is not what a tutor costs but whether anybody suitable is free in the window you need.

Khuzam sits inland in Ras Al Khaimah city, a residential district of villas and family housing with a straightforward drive into the city's school cluster. That makes the school run manageable. It does not change the supply problem: a student in Khuzam sitting Chemistry at Higher Level is not short of roads, they are short of people who have taught that syllabus.

Capacity also moves through the year. A specialist who is free in September is frequently committed by February, because the same teachers cannot teach more hours and demand rises as a series approaches. That makes the booking calendar as important as the revision calendar, and it is the single most actionable thing on this page: in this emirate, early is not a virtue, it is availability.

Delivery is stated plainly. IB Gram teaches UAE families one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. The phrase in this page's address is what parents search, and it is answered honestly: what in-home tuition is quoted at in this market, what the travel premium consists of, and why removing the radius matters more here than in Dubai, where a school might have three teachers on the same course.

On dates, the page is deliberately restrained. No IB exam or results date appears, because the IB's own site returns an error to automated checking and nothing in this project has been verified from the board itself. What is safe to state is that UAE schools sit the May session and that a November session exists as an alternative route, and that every specific date should come from your school's Diploma coordinator or from ibo.org.

What follows is a plan rather than a pitch: the Grade 11 year term by term, the three core components that have no lesson slot, a capacity calendar for scarce subjects, how a schedule works when the specialist is in a different time zone, what the emirate's own regulator actually approves, and the boundaries that apply to coursework. Market rates appear once, attributed to the providers that published them and dated October 2026, because a family here still deserves a number to judge a quote against even when the real problem is supply.

At a glance

  • Ras Al Khaimah's private schools are regulated by the emirate's Department of Knowledge.
  • That authority approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, not just inspection outcomes.
  • Specialist capacity in this emirate is tightest in the spring and loosest in September.
  • The Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS have no timetabled lesson, which is why they slip.
  • UAE schools sit the May session; no IB date on this page is verified, so none is published.
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three IB stages reach Khuzam households, and the planning problem is different at each because only one of them has a fixed external endpoint.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-KG to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

No external papers and no deadlines, which makes the calendar forgiving and the foundations easy to neglect. The work that pays off later is mechanics: number bonds, written method, reading stamina, explaining an answer in a sentence. None of it is urgent and all of it is expensive to repair at Diploma level.

In a small emirate the primary cohort is tight-knit and a child's position inside it says little about national standing. An external view once a year, rather than weekly tuition, is usually the right purchase at this stage in Ras Al Khaimah.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject, each marked out of 8, assessed through tasks spread across the year rather than through an examination window. The marks reward process, so a student who produces correct answers without justification loses the same marks repeatedly until somebody shows them the strand wording.

MYP is where Diploma habits are formed. A Khuzam student who learns in Year 9 that 'explain' demands a mechanism arrives in Grade 11 with an advantage that no amount of Grade 12 revision replaces, and at a time when specialist capacity is easy to book.

DPAges 16-19 · Grades 11-12

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, with an internally assessed component in every subject running on school-set deadlines. The deadlines cluster in one autumn, and the papers sit in the spring, which makes the whole thing a sequencing exercise.

This is where the emirate's scarcity bites hardest. A Khuzam student may be one of very few in Ras Al Khaimah on a particular Higher Level option, with one teacher locally who knows the course and no second opinion available inside the emirate at all.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The Diploma subjects most often requested from Ras Al Khaimah, with a note on how scarce each one is locally, because scarcity is what determines when you need to book.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Standard Level is the most widely taught Diploma course in the emirate; Higher Level is not. Paper 1 is taken without a calculator and is where fluent calculator users lose a grade's worth of marks on hand algebra.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics led. Higher Level adds graph theory and matrices, usually taught late, so a student behind in autumn faces new content and revision together. Locally scarce at Higher Level.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms carry the losses, with data questions catching students who state a trend without its cause. One of the hardest subjects to source locally at Higher Level in this emirate.

Physics

HL and SL

Unit errors, gradients read instead of calculated, explanations written as equations. Technique responds quickly to timed practice, which makes a short booked block effective even late. Very scarce locally.

Biology

HL and SL

Naming a process earns a mark, ordering its stages earns the rest. Statistics questions catch students who have never calculated a standard deviation by hand. More widely taught locally than Chemistry or Physics.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram marks are the most available and most commonly dropped. The commentaries need recent articles collected as they appear. Among the scarcest Diploma subjects in the Northern Emirates.

Business Management

HL and SL

Application to the case stimulus is the whole paper. Higher Level adds the pre-released case study, published far enough ahead that early structured reading is unusually valuable.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 rewards argument about how a text works rather than summary. The Individual Oral needs a global issue chosen early. Reasonable local supply, with the widest quality spread of any subject.

Arabic B and Arabic A

HL, SL and ab initio

Language B assesses reading, writing to a specified text type and a spoken component. Home speakers lose marks on register and text-type convention rather than vocabulary. Strongest local supply in the emirate.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

The essay answers a prescribed title against named criteria and rewards one developed line of argument. Breadth is the standard failure, and the component has no lesson slot in most timetables.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, chosen for how they behave when specialist capacity is limited. All run online, one-to-one, over live video, which is what makes a scarce subject available at all.

A term-long reserved slot

One subject, one tutor, the same hour every week for a term, agreed in advance. In an emirate where a suitable specialist may be the only one available, holding a reserved slot across a term is worth more than any price difference, because the alternative to continuity here is not a cheaper tutor but no tutor.

  • 60 or 90 minutes, fixed weekly on Gulf Standard Time
  • The same tutor across the term so context is never rebuilt
  • Written notes after each session naming the next target
  • Booked a term ahead, because capacity tightens towards a series

A booked block for a named event

A short intensive aimed at one thing: the Grade 12 coursework cluster, the mock window, or the weeks before the papers. Because capacity is scarce, the block is reserved on the calendar at the start of the year rather than requested when it is needed.

  • Two or three sessions a week across four to eight weeks
  • Reserved in advance against the school's deadline calendar
  • Timed questions marked to the published scheme where papers are the target
  • Ends on a stated date rather than drifting on

Core-component coaching

For the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or an internal assessment: narrowing a question, reviewing a method, reading the criterion descriptors, and written feedback on drafts the student has written. These components have no lesson slot, which is exactly why they need a booked one.

  • Question narrowed before any writing begins
  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Word count and citation discipline checked against the subject guide
  • Nothing produced on the student's behalf, at any stage

01

Why timing matters more here than in Dubai

  • The limit in this emirate is the number of suitable people, not the number of roads.
  • A specialist free in September is often committed by February.
  • The nearest qualified teacher may be barred from tutoring your child's school.
  • Online delivery changes who is available; it does not change when they are.

A family in Dubai looking for a Higher Level Chemistry tutor is choosing between candidates. A family in Khuzam is often establishing whether one exists. That difference changes every subsequent decision, and it is the reason this page is organised around a calendar rather than around a price list.

The arithmetic is straightforward. The emirate's private-school set is small and concentrated around Al Nakheel, Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab. The proportion of those schools running the full Diploma is smaller again. Inside each Diploma school, a particular Higher Level option may be taught by one teacher, and that teacher is frequently the person least able to tutor the students who need them: in Abu Dhabi the regulator's professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff from paid tuition of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE private tuition permit carries a code of conduct that bars the same. That is press-reported rather than quoted from the current policy document and should be verified against it, but the pattern across sources is consistent.

What follows is a capacity problem rather than a pricing one. Independent tutors who do cover these subjects are typically covering them for several students across several emirates, and their diaries fill as a series approaches. A family that enquires in February is competing for the hours left over; a family that enquires in September is choosing from an open diary.

Removing the geography removes the binding constraint. Teaching over live video means the question stops being who lives within reach of Khuzam and becomes who teaches this course, which is a much larger set. But it does not remove the capacity question, because good specialists in any location still fill up. Early booking is the one lever available to every family here, and it costs nothing.

02

Grade 11 is the year the Diploma is decided

Families almost universally treat Grade 12 as the year that matters, and in terms of attention that is correct. In terms of leverage it is wrong. By the time Grade 12 begins, the subject and level choices are fixed, the content foundations are either built or missing, the coursework topics are either viable or not, and predicted grades are about to be generated from work already done.

Grade 11 autumn has two jobs: establishing whether the three Higher Levels chosen are the right three, and building content while nothing else competes for attention. A change of level made in the first term is routine; the same change made a year later is disruptive and sometimes impossible. This is also the period when specialist capacity is easiest to book, which makes it the cheapest term in the course in every sense.

Grade 11 spring has one job that matters more than all the others: choosing coursework topics and research questions that will actually work. A Mathematics exploration on a topic with no mathematics to develop, a science investigation whose method will not generate analysable data, an Extended Essay question too broad to answer inside 4,000 words: each of those caps a grade before a word is written, and each is visible to a specialist in a single session.

The table sets out the two Grade 11 terms and the summer that follows, with what each should deliver. The point is not that Grade 12 does not matter. It is that Grade 12 can only execute decisions Grade 11 made.

THE GRADE 11 YEAR, AND WHAT EACH PART HAS TO DELIVER
PeriodWhat it has to deliverThe signal it workedWhat tuition should look like
Grade 11 autumnConfirmation that the three Higher Levels are the right threeThe student attempts unfamiliar questions rather than skipping themOne weekly reserved slot in the least secure subject

03

Three components with no lesson slot

The Extended Essay, the Theory of Knowledge essay and CAS share one structural feature that explains almost all of the trouble they cause: none of them has a timetabled lesson in which the work gets done. Subject content arrives with a teacher, a room and a period. The core arrives with a deadline.

The Extended Essay is a 4,000-word independent piece whose fate is decided by the research question. A question that is too broad produces an essay that cannot be cut without losing its argument, which is why students arrive at 5,000 words and cannot see a way back. The narrowing has to happen before the writing, and it is a conversation rather than a revision exercise. The school provides a supervisor; a tutor's legitimate role is explaining what each named criterion demands and giving written feedback on drafts the student has written.

The Theory of Knowledge essay responds to a prescribed title and rewards one line of argument developed properly, with examples that do specific work. The standard failure is breadth: four knowledge claims gestured at, several areas of knowledge mentioned, nothing actually argued. Because there is no content to revise, students often do not know what preparation would even look like, which makes this the component where a single well-aimed session changes most.

CAS is not graded but it is a completion requirement, and in a small emirate with fewer organised opportunities it can become a genuine administrative problem late in the course. It belongs on the household's calendar in Grade 11, not in the final term.

THE CORE COMPONENTS AND WHERE THEY GO WRONG
ComponentWhat it demandsThe decision that caps itWhat legitimate support looks like
Extended Essay4,000 words of independent research against named criteriaWhether the question can be answered in the limitNarrowing the question, then feedback on the student's drafts

04

The capacity calendar for scarce subjects

This is the section a family in Khuzam actually needs and no competitor page in this market publishes: not what tutoring costs, but when the person you want is likely to be free. Capacity in specialist Diploma subjects follows a predictable annual cycle, and planning around it is free.

September and October are the loosest months. New enquiries have not yet arrived in volume, students have not yet had a disappointing assessment, and tutors are building a term. A reserved weekly slot agreed in September usually holds for the whole year, which is worth more in this emirate than a marginally better rate.

November through January tightens as autumn reports land and coursework deadlines bite, with the heaviest pressure on core-component support because every Grade 12 in the country is writing at once. February onwards is the tightest period of the year for Higher Level sciences and Mathematics, which is precisely when most families start looking. By the final weeks before a series, availability for a scarce subject is largely whatever was not booked earlier.

The table maps that cycle against the subjects where it matters most in Ras Al Khaimah. It is a planning aid rather than a promise: availability depends on real diaries, and where no specialist is free in the window you need, the honest answer is to say so rather than to offer a generalist. The pattern holds across providers rather than being peculiar to one, because it is a feature of how many people teach these courses rather than of how any company is organised.

Scheduling when the specialist is not in the emirate

  • Write every slot down in Gulf Standard Time, in both diaries.
  • Ask the tutor for their own fixed commitments and holiday weeks at the start of term.
  • Agree the Ramadan arrangement before the month, not during it.
  • Book termly with a named tutor, and expect a written handover if that changes.

If the whole argument of this page is that the right teacher is probably not in Ras Al Khaimah, the practical question is how a weekly session with somebody elsewhere actually works. The answer is less exotic than it sounds, but it has to be set up deliberately rather than assumed.

Everything is scheduled on Gulf Standard Time and written down in that time zone, which removes the single most common cause of missed sessions. For a tutor in a nearby time zone an afternoon slot in Khuzam is an afternoon slot for them too; for a tutor further west, a Khuzam evening is their morning, which can actually be more reliable than a local tutor's end-of-day. The thing to establish in week one is the tutor's own fixed commitments, so the slot sits in a stable part of their week rather than a flexible one.

The second thing to settle is what happens around holidays, because school calendars differ between countries. A tutor whose own region has a break in a week that is a normal school week in Ras Al Khaimah should say so at the start of term, and the plan should absorb it rather than discover it. Ramadan works the same way in reverse: sessions move to post-Iftar timing for the month, which an online booking handles easily.

The third is continuity. In a thin market the value of a reserved slot with a named tutor is high, so the arrangement should be termly rather than session by session, with a written handover if a change becomes necessary. A tutor who disappears mid-term is a much bigger problem in Khuzam than in Dubai, because the replacement pool nearby is close to empty.

06

Who regulates your school here, and what they approve

Parents arriving in Ras Al Khaimah from Dubai often look for a KHDA inspection report on a local school and find nothing, because KHDA's remit stops at the Dubai border. Private schools in this emirate are regulated by the Department of Knowledge, which the UAE government's own portal describes as regulating private education in the emirate.

The scope is wider than inspection. Ras Al Khaimah's authority, like Sharjah's, approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. That means the programme a school offers and the fees it charges have both been through the emirate authority, which is a useful thing for a parent to know when asking whether an offering is what it claims to be. The complete regulator map for UAE private schools is KHDA in Dubai, ADEK in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the Sharjah Private Education Authority in Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah, and the federal Ministry of Education supervising private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.

None of that gives a tutoring provider any standing, and this page claims none. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from the Department of Knowledge, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai would need a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, renewed annually with the request at least 30 days before expiry; an individual tutor needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit. Neither is a badge a matching platform can wear.

What a family can reasonably verify is the school's latest inspection outcome, requested directly, and the tutor's permit position, asked for in one sentence. Both are ordinary questions and both should get ordinary answers.

07

Results, the alternative session, and the fortnight after

The calendar does not end with the papers, and the fortnight after results is where families in a small emirate are most exposed, because there is often nobody locally to ask. Three options exist and they have different deadlines, so identifying which applies matters more than reacting quickly.

The first is an enquiry upon results, where the school asks the board to review a mark. That is a school process with its own deadline and criteria, and the right question for the Diploma coordinator is whether the component profile makes a review plausible rather than whether the overall result was disappointing. The second is a retake in a later session. The third is to accept the result, which is frequently the correct answer and almost never presented as one.

The deciding input in all three cases is the component breakdown: marks by paper and by internal component. A shortfall concentrated in one paper is a different problem from a shortfall spread across every component, and only the first is reliably closed by a short block of technique work. Asking for that breakdown before making any decision is the step most families skip.

On dates, the same restraint applies as elsewhere on this page. UAE schools sit the May session and a November session exists as an alternative route, but no IB date here has been verified from the board, so none is published. Ask your Diploma coordinator about entry routes and deadlines, and tell any receiving institution about timing before relying on it.

08

Academic honesty, materials and the permit

Three boundaries, stated before they are needed rather than after. The first is academic. A tutor may teach the subject content, explain each assessment criterion and what its descriptors demand, help narrow a research question, review a method for feasibility and ethics, and give written feedback on a draft the student has already written.

A tutor must never write, redraft or complete an Internal Assessment, a Mathematics exploration, an Extended Essay, a Theory of Knowledge essay or any assessed coursework, and must not supply text, data or diagrams for a student to submit. A page found during research for this project sells completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750. That is an academic integrity breach and an IB malpractice trigger, and the consequence falls on the student rather than on whoever sold it. In a small emirate, where a cohort is tiny and work is read closely, this matters practically as well as in principle.

The second boundary is materials. No tutor should reproduce or distribute IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides as downloads. The official source should be referenced and linked instead, which is why this page carries no attachments and asks readers to confirm weightings against the guide their own school issues.

The third is who may tutor. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published, so none is quoted. No tutor can promise a grade either, because boundaries are set after a series on the basis of that series' papers.

Where we tutor

Khuzam and the Ras Al Khaimah communities around it

What differs across these communities is the drive to the school cluster and how late a session realistically starts. The supply problem is the same everywhere in the emirate.

Khuzam

Inland residential district of Ras Al Khaimah city, with villa housing and a short drive to the city school cluster. Family houses mean a quiet room for a full timed paper is usually available.

Al Nakheel

Central district and the heart of the emirate's school and commercial cluster. The shortest school runs in Ras Al Khaimah, so an earlier slot is available if a student works better before dinner.

Al Dhait

Large residential area south of the city with substantial villa housing. Slightly longer runs than Khuzam and a 5:00pm start is the realistic earliest for most households.

Al Hamra Village

Coastal master-planned community towards the south of the emirate, with its own school presence. The drive into the city cluster is long enough that an in-home evening visit becomes impractical.

Mina Al Arab

Waterfront community with a mix of villas and apartments. Families here are generally further from the city school cluster, which lengthens the school run and compresses the evening.

Julphar

Older quarter around the historic port and the towers on the creek. Dense and central, with short runs but apartment living, so a quiet room needs planning rather than assuming.

Al Qusaidat

Established residential district north-east of the creek. Reasonable runs into the city cluster and a 4:45pm start holds on most days of the school week.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Khuzam

The Ras Al Khaimah city cluster

Khuzam draws on the emirate's main school concentration around Al Nakheel and the city centre. The documents worth requesting are each school's internal assessment calendar and its subject guides, because those are what a two-year plan is built from. Students we support attend schools in this cluster.

  • Ras Al Khaimah Academy
  • RAK Academy
  • Emirates National School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Our Own English High School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Scholars Indian School
  • RAK English Speaking School

The southern coastal communities

Families in Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab often use schools closer to the coast, which shortens the run but puts a student in an even smaller Diploma cohort. Private schools across the emirate are regulated by the Department of Knowledge, which approves curricula and fees as well as inspecting.

  • British School Al Hamra
  • Al Hamra International School
  • Indian School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Little Flower English School

Schools are named to describe the environment a Khuzam student studies in. No affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied, and every name should be checked against the regulator's own school listing.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Enquire in September, not in February

In this emirate the scarce resource is a suitable specialist's diary rather than a competitive rate. A reserved weekly slot agreed at the start of the year usually holds for the whole year; the same request in the spring competes for hours that were not booked earlier.

  2. 02

Send the school's deadline calendar and subject guides

The internal assessment dates, the Extended Essay supervision schedule and the Theory of Knowledge deadlines, plus the subject guides for the Higher Level courses. Those documents are what a two-year plan is built from, and the school will supply them if asked in writing.

  3. 03

    Take the free diagnostic session

The first session is a diagnosis with no card details taken. The tutor works through real paper questions and classifies lost marks into content, method, command term and time. Most students are surprised how little of the loss is content, which changes what the year should contain.

  4. 04

Reserve the blocks you will need later

The Grade 12 coursework block and the pre-series block are put on the calendar at the start of the year rather than requested when they are needed, because by then the specialist you want may not be free. Each block carries an end date from the point it is agreed.

  5. 05

Settle the slot, the time zone and Ramadan

Every session is written down in Gulf Standard Time in both diaries, the tutor's own fixed commitments and holiday weeks are disclosed at the start of term, and the Ramadan arrangement is agreed before the month rather than during it.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Supply, not price, treated as the real constraint

In Ras Al Khaimah the question is usually whether a suitable Higher Level specialist exists rather than which of several to choose. The capacity calendar on this page exists because no competitor in this market discusses availability at all.

The radius removed

Teaching over live video replaces a drive into the city cluster with a subject panel. For Higher Level sciences and Economics in this emirate, that is not a convenience argument; it is frequently the only route to a second experienced voice on the papers.

Grade 11 treated as the decisive year

Levels, foundations, coursework topics and the work behind predicted grades are all settled before Grade 12 begins. Planning in Grade 11 is also when specialist capacity is easiest to reserve, which makes it the cheapest term in the course twice over.

The three unlessoned components taken seriously

The Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay and CAS have no timetabled period, which is exactly why they slip. They get booked blocks of their own rather than whatever attention is left in the final term.

No unverified dates

No IB exam or results date appears on this page because none has been confirmed from the board, whose own site returns an error to automated checking. An unverified date a family plans a year around is worse than an absent one.

Clear limits, including our own

IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from the Department of Knowledge, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. No grade is promised, no rating self-published, and no syllabus document supplied as a download.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Khuzam: your questions answered

Is there actually a Higher Level Diploma specialist available in Khuzam?+

Often not locally, and it is better to hear that at the start. The emirate's private-school set is small, the proportion running the full Diploma is smaller, and a given Higher Level option may be taught by one teacher in a school, who is frequently the person least able to tutor the students who need them. Removing the radius is what changes the answer: teaching over live video turns the question from who lives near Khuzam into who teaches this course.

When should a Ras Al Khaimah family book a Diploma tutor?+

September, for the year. Specialist capacity follows a predictable cycle: loose in September and October while tutors are building a term, tightening from November as autumn reports land and coursework bites, and tightest from February onwards for Higher Level sciences and Mathematics, which is exactly when most families start looking. A reserved weekly slot agreed early usually holds for the whole year, and in a thin market that is worth more than a marginally better rate.

Why is Grade 11 more important than Grade 12 for planning?+

Because Grade 12 can only execute decisions Grade 11 made. By the time the final year begins, subject and level choices are fixed, content foundations are built or missing, coursework topics are viable or not, and predicted grades are about to be generated from work already done. A level change in the first term of Grade 11 is routine; the same change a year later is disruptive and sometimes impossible. Grade 11 is also when specialist capacity is easiest to reserve.

Which Diploma components have no timetabled lesson?+

The Extended Essay, the Theory of Knowledge essay and CAS. Subject content arrives with a teacher, a room and a period; those three arrive with a deadline and nothing else. That structural fact explains most of the trouble they cause, and it is why they need booked blocks of their own in Grade 11 rather than whatever attention is left in the final term. The school supplies a supervisor for the Extended Essay; a tutor's role is narrower and is set out on this page.

How does a weekly session with a tutor outside the emirate work?+

Everything is scheduled and written down in Gulf Standard Time in both diaries, which removes the commonest cause of missed sessions. In week one, ask the tutor for their own fixed commitments and holiday weeks, because school calendars differ between countries and a break the tutor's region takes may be a normal school week in Ras Al Khaimah. Book termly with a named tutor rather than session by session, and expect a written handover if a change becomes necessary.

Who regulates private schools in Ras Al Khaimah?+

The emirate's Department of Knowledge, which regulates private education here and, like Sharjah's authority, approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods rather than only inspecting. That is wider than many parents assume, and it means both the programme a school offers and the fees it charges have been through the emirate authority. A parent arriving from Dubai should note that KHDA reports do not cover schools here; request the school's latest inspection outcome directly.

What caps a Mathematics exploration grade before it is written?+

The topic. The exploration is marked across five criteria totalling 20 marks, with use of mathematics carrying the largest single allocation, so a well-written piece on a subject with nothing to develop mathematically cannot reach the upper bands however it is polished. A specialist can test viability in one session, which is why that check belongs in Grade 11 spring. The student chooses, writes and develops every part of the work themselves; a tutor tests the plan and feeds back on drafts.

Why does my child's Extended Essay keep growing past 4,000 words?+

Because the research question is too broad, almost always. A question that cannot be answered inside the limit produces an essay that will not cut without losing its argument, which is why a student at 5,000 words cannot see a way back. The work is narrowing the question and then rebuilding the structure around the narrower version, and it belongs before the writing. A tutor may do that narrowing work and give written feedback on drafts; a tutor may never rewrite the essay.

Is it worth paying more for an in-home tutor if one is available in RAK?+

It buys physical presence, which genuinely helps a younger or easily distracted student, and the premium is real: a qualified subject tutor working online is advertised at AED 150 to 300 an hour, while in-home one-to-one is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and up to AED 500 by independent tutors, read October 2026. In this emirate the harder problem is that the in-home pool for a scarce Higher Level subject may be empty regardless of what a family is willing to pay.

What if nobody in Ras Al Khaimah covers my child's Higher Level option?+

You get told, rather than handed a generalist. The honest position in Ras Al Khaimah is that supply for rare Higher Level options is thin and sometimes nil in a given window. Where that happens the options are a later start date, a different format such as a short booked block closer to the series, or a recommendation to look elsewhere. Concealing a coverage gap costs a family a term, which is a worse outcome than losing an enquiry.

How should we use the summer between Grade 11 and Grade 12?+

For one named job, in three or four weeks with two sessions a week, finishing before term starts. The usual target is the content gap identified in Grade 11 spring, or settling a coursework topic and method so the autumn cluster begins with a viable plan rather than a blank page. What does not work is running a full programme through July and August: a student who studies all summer arrives in September already tired, which costs more than the gap would have.

Why will you not print a May session date for a Khuzam student?+

Because none has been verified. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so no IB exam or results date in this project is confirmed from the board, and publishing an unverified date that a family builds a revision schedule around would be worse than publishing none. What is safe to state is that UAE schools sit the May session and that a November session exists as an alternative route. Take every specific date from your Diploma coordinator or from ibo.org.

What should we ask for in the fortnight after Diploma results?+

The component breakdown first: marks by paper and by internal component. A shortfall concentrated in one paper is a different problem from one spread across every component, and only the first is reliably closed by a short block of technique work. Then ask the coordinator whether the profile makes an enquiry upon results plausible, which is a school process with its own deadline and criteria. Accepting the result is often the right answer and is almost never offered as one.

Does my child's tutor need a UAE permit if they teach from abroad?+

The permit framework applies to private tutoring in the UAE, and the honest position is that a family should ask the provider directly what basis their tutors work on rather than assume. For tutors inside the country, the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Tutoring without one carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

Can tuition raise a predicted grade that has already been issued?+

No, and that is worth knowing a year earlier than most families learn it. Predictions are issued in the autumn of Grade 12 and reflect work already completed, so tuition bought afterwards cannot change the prediction, only the final result. The window in which predictions are actually earned is Grade 11 and the spring that follows it. That is the strongest argument available for light, early, well-targeted work rather than a heavy intervention in the term the applications are written.

Book the slot before you need it

In Ras Al Khaimah the thing that runs out is not money but availability. If your child is in the Diploma and living in Khuzam, the most useful move is to reserve a weekly slot with a named specialist at the start of the year and to put the coursework and pre-series blocks on the calendar at the same time. Send the school's deadline calendar and the Higher Level subject guides, and the first session will be a free diagnosis on a recent marked paper with no card details taken. Lessons run one-to-one over live video, written down in Gulf Standard Time in both diaries.
