IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Quoz 4

Search IGCSE tutor near me in Al Quoz 4 and every result assumes you already know three things: which exam board your child sits, whether they are entered for Core or Extended, and which month the papers fall in. Most Al Quoz 4 parents know none of them, because nobody is obliged to tell you. This page answers all three with syllabus codes and dates, then matches your child to a tutor who teaches that exact specification live online, one to one.

IB & IGCSE in Al Quoz 4

Three facts your child's school may never have put in writing

The first is the board. Dubai schools run Cambridge International or Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, and sometimes both in the same building for different subjects. The syllabus, the paper structure and the grading scale differ between them. A parent who buys past-paper practice without checking the code can easily hand a Cambridge 0580 student a Pearson 4MA1 paper, which is an honest mistake that wastes a term of revision.

The second is the tier. Cambridge Mathematics splits into Core and Extended; Pearson Mathematics A splits into Foundation and Higher. The decision is not cosmetic. A Cambridge Core entry caps the available grade at C, and a Pearson Foundation entry caps it at 5. Children are entered for a tier by the school, often provisionally in Year 10, and parents discover the cap when a university prerequisite collides with it two years later.

The third is the calendar. Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level in a June series and a November series. The February and March series is offered to India only, so a UAE candidate never sits it, no matter what a generic revision website says. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November. Entry deadlines sit months before the papers, which is why a decision taken late is a decision taken for you.

Al Quoz 4 adds a local complication on top of all three. This is a villa pocket between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road where virtually nobody attends school locally. Year 10 and Year 11 students travel to Al Barsha South, Al Safa, Nad Al Sheba or Al Jaddaf, and come back on a bus that threads two or three sub-communities. The day they get home with homework and a coursework deadline is a shorter day than it looks on paper.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in the UAE; in-home tutoring is an India-only service. What we deliver to Al Quoz 4 is one-to-one teaching over live video, matched by specification code, scheduled around the actual bus arrival rather than the theoretical bell. The rest of this page is the detail: codes, tiers, dates counted backwards, the subjects worth tutoring out of nine, the Ministry of Education equivalency rule, and what the market charges.

A word on how to use all of it. None of these three facts requires a tutor to discover. The board and code take one email to the school office. The tier takes the same email with a second sentence attached. The series your child sits is published on the board's own site, by administrative zone, and your school knows which zone it belongs to. Gather those answers first and you will be able to judge every provider you speak to, including this one, on whether they ask for them before quoting a price. The ones who quote first and ask later are selling hours rather than teaching.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An Al Quoz 4 household often holds two or three stages at once, because the schools this area feeds run the full British pathway. Support differs sharply between them, and the differences are structural rather than a matter of difficulty.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Key Stage 3, the two years before IGCSE

No external exams, which is why these years get left alone. The cost appears later: algebraic fluency, scientific notation and essay structure are built here, and a Year 10 student missing them spends the first IGCSE term relearning Year 8 material instead of starting the specification. Short, regular work on fundamentals is the cheapest intervention available in the whole British pathway.

Al Quoz 4 Year 7 to 9 students are typically off the bus by 15:10 and have the lightest homework load in the house. That makes this the one stage where a 16:00 slot genuinely works, and where thirty-minute sessions three times a week beat a single long one. Dubai schools also run Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies alongside, so the week is fuller than the timetable suggests.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE, Years 10 and 11

Eight to ten subjects examined externally, with tier decisions, coursework where the specification includes it, and a mock season that functions as the real diagnostic. The grade is decided by paper technique at least as much as by knowledge: students who can do the mathematics still lose marks for unshown working, and students who know the biology still lose marks for imprecise terminology.

The Al Quoz 4 Year 11 week is the tightest in the house. Extended-day schools in the Al Barsha corridor can put a student back home at 16:20, and mock season lands in the same weeks as coursework deadlines. Families here usually settle on one 19:30 weekday session plus a Saturday morning block, which is the slot most likely to survive a busy fortnight.

Post-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

A Level or IB Diploma after IGCSE

IGCSE results decide which post-16 route is open, and most Dubai schools set subject-specific entry grades. A student who wants Physics at A Level or Higher Level generally needs a strong IGCSE grade in both Physics and Mathematics, and the Mathematics tier taken in Year 11 can quietly remove the option before anyone has had the conversation.

The Al Barsha and Nad Al Sheba corridor contains both A Level sixth forms and IB Diploma schools, so an Al Quoz 4 family genuinely has a choice at 16 rather than a default. The useful time to talk about it is the spring of Year 10, while the Mathematics tier and the science route are still open to change.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IGCSE subjects Al Quoz 4 families ask about most, with the board codes a parent should check and the specific place marks are lost. Request a tutor by code rather than by subject name.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core or Extended · Pearson 4MA1 Foundation or Higher

Cambridge Extended candidates sit a non-calculator paper and a calculator paper; Pearson 4MA1 allows a calculator on both. Marks go on unshown working in multi-step questions and on bearings, similar shapes and compound interest, which appear every series and are forgotten every year.

Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Cambridge candidates take a practical paper or the Alternative to Practical; Pearson assesses practical skills inside the written papers instead. The reliable mark loss is in units, prefixes and rearranging equations under time pressure rather than in understanding the physics.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Moles calculations and the qualitative analysis tables carry a disproportionate share of the marks. Students who write every calculation with units and correct significant figures recover marks they had already earned, and the ionic equation questions reward drilling more than insight.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

The highest-volume specification in the group, and the one where imprecise wording costs most. A mark scheme wanting the named process will not accept a fluent paraphrase. Short, timed recall on terminology beats re-reading notes by a wide margin at this level.

English Language

Cambridge 0500 or 0990 · Pearson 4EA1

Directed writing and the extended response reward structure over vocabulary. Students lose marks by writing well without answering the task: wrong register, wrong audience, wrong form. Fifteen minutes of planning taught properly is worth more than any amount of additional reading.

Combined and Coordinated Science

Cambridge 0653 and 0654 · Pearson Double Award 4SD0

Three sciences compressed into one or two grades, which means less depth per topic but no fewer command terms. Students entered here often assume it is easier and discover the breadth is the difficulty. Tutoring works best topic-by-topic against the specification checklist.

Economics and Business

Cambridge 0455 and 0450 · Pearson 4EC1 and 4BS1

Diagram accuracy and definition precision decide these grades. A labelled demand and supply diagram earns marks before any prose is read, and a four-mark analysis question has a structure that can be taught in one session and used for two years.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge 0478 and 0417 · Pearson 4IT1

Theory papers reward exact terminology, and the programming or practical component rewards planning. Students who code confidently still lose marks on trace tables and pseudocode conventions, which are examinable skills distinct from being able to write working code.

Arabic

Cambridge 0508 first language · 0544 foreign language

KHDA requires Arabic in every Dubai private school whatever the licensed curriculum, with separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs. Families frequently treat it as compliance until a grade matters. Regular short oral and written practice in the school's own material is the realistic fix.

Geography and History

Cambridge 0460 and 0470 · Pearson 4GE1 and 4HI1

Case-study recall is the differentiator. Students who can name a specific place, date and figure score where students writing generally do not. Source questions in History have a repeatable method, which is the single highest-return thing a tutor can teach in these subjects.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, chosen by where you are in the two-year IGCSE cycle rather than by budget. The right answer in October is not the right answer in March.

Weekly one-to-one by specification

One subject, one code, the same tutor and the same hour each week. The tutor works from the specification your child is actually entered for and from the school's own scheme of work, not a generic course. Live video with a shared whiteboard, so a worked solution can be saved and reread on Sunday rather than lost in a notebook.

  • Matched to 0580 or 4MA1, 0625 or 4PH1, never to a generic subject
  • 60 or 90 minutes, including late-evening and weekend slots
  • Follows the school's scheme of work and its coursework dates
  • Saved whiteboard and worked solutions after every session

Tier and entry review

A short, focused engagement in Year 10 or early Year 11 to settle the questions a school may not raise. Which tier is the student entered for, what grade ceiling that creates, which post-16 route it closes, and whether a move is still possible before the entry deadline. Two or three sessions, one clear recommendation and the evidence behind it.

  • Reads the current entry against the grade ceiling it creates
  • Checks the post-16 prerequisites the tier could remove
  • Flags the entry deadline so the decision is yours, not the calendar's
  • Ends with a written summary you can take to the school

Mock-to-exam intensive

From mock results to the papers themselves, two or three sessions a week built entirely from the student's own lost marks. Timed sections, mark-scheme reading, command terms and a running error list. Content teaching has diminishing returns by February; converting what is known into marks does not.

  • Built from the actual mock script, not from a syllabus checklist
  • Timed paper sections under exam conditions over video
  • Mark-scheme reading, so the student learns what earns a tick
  • Pausable for the school's own study-leave weeks

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Quoz 4

01

Which board your child sits, and why nobody told you

Open any past paper your child has brought home and look at the top right corner. A four-digit number starting with a zero is Cambridge International. A code beginning 4 followed by two letters and a 1 is Pearson Edexcel International GCSE. That single check answers a question most Al Quoz 4 parents have never been asked to answer, and it changes which resources, which mark schemes and which tutor are useful.

The two boards are not interchangeable. Cambridge Mathematics 0580 Extended candidates sit a non-calculator paper and a calculator paper. Pearson Mathematics A 4MA1 permits a calculator on both of its papers, which changes how arithmetic fluency is practised. In the sciences the gap is wider: Cambridge assesses practical skills through a practical test or the Alternative to Practical paper, while Pearson International GCSE assesses them inside the written papers instead.

Grading scales differ too, which is where parents get confused comparing siblings. Cambridge reports A* to G, with Core entries capped at C and Extended reaching A*. Pearson International GCSE reports 9 to 1, with Foundation tier capped at 5 and Higher tier starting at 4. A child with a 6 and a child with a B are not easily compared, and a school report that mixes both boards across subjects makes the comparison harder still.

Ask the school, in writing, for the board and code for every examined subject. It is a reasonable request, it takes an administrator two minutes, and it is the foundation for every revision decision you make for the next two years.

Core or Extended: the decision that sets the grade ceiling

Tiering is the least discussed and most consequential decision in the IGCSE years. A Cambridge Core entry in Mathematics means the student sits Paper 1 and Paper 2 and cannot be awarded above a C, whatever they write. An Extended entry means Paper 3 and Paper 4, with A* available and a real risk of a low grade if the student was not ready. Pearson works the same way with Foundation and Higher.

Schools make the provisional decision from Year 10 performance, which is reasonable, and they are usually right. The problem is that the decision is often communicated as administration rather than as a choice, so a family finds out at the point entries are confirmed. By then a student who has worked hard through Year 10 may have outgrown a Core entry and have no simple route to move.

The downstream effect is the part that stings. Post-16 courses in the Al Barsha and Nad Al Sheba corridor set subject entry grades, and a Mathematics grade ceiling of C can remove A Level Mathematics, Physics, Economics and Chemistry from the options in one stroke. No one hides this; it simply never gets said out loud while there is still time to change it.

If your child is in Year 10 now, ask three questions this term. Which tier are they provisionally entered for in each subject, what grade does that cap them at, and what is the last date a change can be made. A tutor cannot make that decision for you, but two sessions on current attainment against the Extended specification will tell you whether the question is worth pressing.

Al Quoz 4 in Year 10 and Year 11: where the week has room

  • Bells land 14:30 to 15:45; the bus adds 25 to 40 minutes in Al Quoz
  • 19:30 weekday and 10:00 Saturday are the slots Year 11 families keep
  • Mock fortnight is the highest-value tutoring window of the year
  • Give the bus arrival time, not the preferred start time

Year 11 is the busiest year an Al Quoz 4 household will run, and the physical geography makes it busier. Bell times across the schools this area feeds fall between about 14:30 and 15:45, and the bus adds twenty-five to forty minutes because Al Quoz routes loop several sub-communities. A student from an extended-day school in the Al Barsha corridor can be walking through the door at 16:20 with eight subjects of homework behind them.

The practical result is that the 16:00 slot most agencies default to does not exist for a Year 11 student here. What does exist is 19:30, after the meal and the first push at homework, and Saturday morning. Dubai schools finish between 12:00 and 12:30 on a Friday and the weekend runs Saturday and Sunday, so a 10:00 Saturday session catches a student rested for the only time in the week.

There is one more window worth naming. Mock season in Dubai British-curriculum schools typically runs in the winter term, and schools often release students for parts of it. Those are the single most productive tutoring days in the whole year, because a student is already in exam mode and the marked script is fresh. Families who book a short intensive across mock fortnight get more out of four sessions than out of twelve in October.

When you contact us, give the school name, the year group, the finish time and the actual bus arrival. That sentence does more to produce a workable schedule than any amount of discussion about preferred times.

The June and November series, counted backwards

Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February and March series exists but is offered to India only, so a UAE candidate never sits it. Any revision site that hands you a February entry deadline is describing a different country's calendar, and acting on it would cost a series.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November. Results dates give a sense of the real rhythm: June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. The November route therefore functions as a repair series, with a result in the following January rather than the same summer.

There is a Cambridge administrative detail worth knowing because it has real consequences. Every centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. Ask your school which zone it sits in and use that timetable, not a generic one found online.

The table below counts the series backwards from the papers, which is the only direction that helps a parent plan. Always check the live official timetable on the board's own site rather than relying on any restatement, including this one; Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and they can be revised.

Nine subjects, and the three worth paying for

  • Rank subjects by distance from the post-16 entry grade actually needed
  • Mathematics and sciences usually have the steepest marginal return
  • A subject eating confidence drags the others down with it
  • If nothing suitable is free, we say so instead of offering a generalist

A typical Dubai IGCSE student carries eight to ten subjects. Almost no family can fund or sustain tutoring in all of them, and almost none should try, because the limiting factor at this age is the student's remaining hours rather than money. The question is which three subjects buy the most, and it is answerable with the mock script rather than with instinct.

Rank by three criteria. First, which grades are furthest below the post-16 entry requirement the student actually needs, not the one they vaguely want. Second, which subjects have the steepest marginal return, usually mathematics and the sciences, where method is teachable and a repeated error can be removed in a fortnight. Third, which subject is eating morale, because a child losing confidence in one subject underperforms in the others.

What usually does not justify one-to-one tutoring is a subject where the student is already at or near their target, or a subject where the issue is volume of recall rather than method. Those respond better to a changed revision routine than to a weekly hour. A good tutor will tell you that in the first session rather than sell you a second subject.

The honest version of availability also belongs here. For common subjects we can usually arrange a trial within days. For a narrow combination, a less common language or a specific evening hour, it can take longer, and occasionally we have nobody suitable free. We will say so rather than put a generalist in front of a Year 11 student eight weeks from a paper.

06

Five subjects at grade E: the Ministry of Education equivalency rule

Families planning to use a UAE university, or to keep the option open, eventually meet certificate equivalency. For the British track, the published requirement is that students must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade.

The detail most often got wrong is which subjects count. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects for the GCSE and IGCSE count. One competing site ranking for these queries tells UAE parents they need six IGCSE subjects, which is not what the published rule says. Getting this right matters because it changes the subject list a Year 10 student should be entered for.

For the American track the requirements are different again: English proficiency through a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and at least 450 in the SAT Mathematics test. No IB points threshold for equivalency has been read on a Ministry source, so this page publishes none; a figure invented for a landing page is worse than no figure.

Equivalency is a process the Ministry of Education runs, not something a tutoring service performs or guarantees. Verify the current rule on the Ministry's own site or with the attestation authority before you act on it, and treat any provider claiming to secure equivalency for you as a reason for caution rather than confidence.

What the hour costs in Dubai, cheapest option first

Most pages in this market either refuse to publish a price or quote in US dollars, which is a currency UAE families do not transact in. Here is the Dubai market in dirhams, from the cheapest real option upward, with the source of each band named so you can check it. None of this is an IB Gram price list; it is the market you should measure any quote against.

At the bottom sit university-student tutors online, advertised from around AED 45 to 65 an hour by EdFlik and from around AED 33 to 52 by Tutopiya on their own published pages. For Key Stage 3 fluency work or homework supervision this is good value and nobody should pretend otherwise. It is the wrong purchase for Chemistry 0620 eight weeks before a paper, where the tutor needs to know how the qualitative analysis marks are allocated.

The middle band is a qualified subject tutor online at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200; TutorChase quotes around AED 270. In-home one-to-one sits higher at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel, per Bestimate's Dubai rate table and published home-tutor rates, with monthly in-home packages seen at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits.

Set that against the wider cost picture. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year under the emirate's second economic incentives package. Tutoring is therefore the variable line in a Dubai education budget this year, which is an argument for spending it deliberately on two or three subjects rather than thinly across nine.

Science practicals when the lessons are on video

This is the fair objection to online science tutoring and it deserves a direct answer. A tutor on video cannot run a titration with your child. What a tutor on video can do is teach the thing the practical papers actually assess, which is not manual dexterity. Cambridge's Alternative to Practical paper tests experimental design, reading instruments, recording data to the right precision, plotting, and identifying sources of error. All of that is paper skill.

Pearson International GCSE takes a different route, assessing practical skills inside the written papers rather than through a separate component. The effect for tutoring is similar: the examinable material is the method and the analysis, not the execution. A student who can explain why a repeat was taken and what a systematic error does to a gradient scores where a student with excellent lab technique and no vocabulary does not.

Where school practical work is genuinely missing, say because a student joined late or changed schools mid-course, the gap is real and a tutor should say so rather than paper over it. The honest response is to raise it with the school, which holds the equipment and the responsibility, and to use sessions to secure the analysis skills that carry the marks in the meantime.

One practical advantage of video that parents do not anticipate: graph work. A shared whiteboard with a plotted axis, marked points and a drawn line of best fit, saved and sent afterwards, is a better revision artefact than the same thing sketched in a notebook and never looked at again.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Quoz 4

Al Quoz 4 is one of four Al Quoz sub-communities and sits inside Dubai's central road corridor. These are the neighbourhoods it shares schools and congestion with, with the operational detail that genuinely varies between them.

Al Quoz

Al Quoz 1 to 4 are the residential sub-communities. School buses serving them commonly cover two or three in sequence, which is where the twenty-five to forty minute lag between bell and gate comes from.

Al Safa and Al Manara

Immediately across Sheikh Zayed Road with a cluster of long-established British schools. Geographically the nearest, but the crossing is the slowest part of the trip between 15:30 and 17:00, which pushes Year 11 sessions later.

Business Bay

Tower living either side of the creek extension, and a lift-plus-car journey each morning. Parents working in Business Bay and DIFC frequently request a 20:00 session, which online delivery makes trivial to staff.

Downtown Dubai

Apartments with Metro access and an outbound school run. Downtown Year 11 students often reach home half an hour earlier than Al Quoz 4 students attending the same school, which shifts their usable slot forward.

Al Jaddaf

Reachable on Al Khail Road and home to a full IB continuum school, so some Al Quoz 4 families compare IGCSE against the Middle Years Programme at 14. The return leg after a 15:30 finish is the constraint, not the morning.

Nad Al Sheba

Large British schools with extended days and heavy co-curricular programmes. Al Quoz 4 students attending them are commonly home after 16:30, which makes the Saturday morning block the most reliable session of their week.

Meydan and Sobha Hartland

Newer communities with recently built schools, so inspection histories are short. Parents here rely more on cohort reputation than on a published band, and reading the actual report matters more than usual.

  1. 01

Send the code, not just the subject

Tell us 0580 Extended or 4MA1 Higher rather than maths. If you do not know, photograph the top corner of a past paper or ask the school in writing. Two minutes here prevents a term of revision against the wrong specification, which is the most common avoidable error in this market.

  2. 02

    Send the last mock script

A marked paper is worth more than any description of the difficulty. We read it for pattern rather than total: marks lost in the last question of every paper, in one command term, or in unshown working each point at a different fix, and each fix takes a different number of weeks.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial lesson

One per family, booked before payment and with no card details taken. It is a real lesson on your child's own material. The question afterwards is simple: did your child explain something back that they could not explain an hour earlier, and did the tutor name a specific thing to change.

  4. 04

Agree the slot and the eight-week target

Pick the hour that survives a busy week, usually 19:30 or Saturday morning in Al Quoz 4. Then agree what eight weeks should produce: a grade boundary crossed in mocks, a paper technique fixed, a topic rebuilt. A checkable target beats an open-ended arrangement.

  5. 05

Review on marked work, then adjust

At eight weeks we look at a new marked piece. If the lost marks have moved, continue. If they have not, we change the tutor, the format or the diagnosis rather than adding hours. Re-matching costs nothing and keeps the work already done.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched by specification, not by subject

A Cambridge 0625 student and a Pearson 4PH1 student need different teachers and different papers. We match on the code, which is why the first thing we ask for is the code. Nobody is given a generic physics tutor and left to discover the practical component works differently.

The tier conversation happens early

Core and Foundation entries cap the grade, and the cap closes post-16 doors quietly. We raise it in Year 10 while there is still time to act, with the current attainment held against the Extended specification, and give you a written summary to take to the school.

A schedule built on the bus, not the bell

Session times are chosen around when your child genuinely gets home to Al Quoz 4, which for an extended-day school can be 16:20. Because teaching is on video, a 19:30 weekday or a 10:00 Saturday is as easy to staff as any other hour.

Dates you can check at the source

UAE candidates sit the June and November series with Cambridge and May, June and November with Pearson. We name the series by month rather than by year so the page stays true, and we point at the board's own live timetable rather than restating dates that get revised.

Prices from the market, with sources

Every dirham figure here belongs to a named provider or a published rate table with its date, and none is presented as our price. You can judge any quote, ours included, against the band it sits in. A provider who will not publish any number is asking for trust it has not earned.

Nothing claimed that cannot be shown

No regulator endorses IB Gram and this page does not imply one does. KHDA, the Ministry of Education and MoHRE are named to explain what they govern. There is no UAE office, no invented rating, and no statistic without its source and date.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Quoz 4: your questions answered

How do I find out whether my Al Quoz 4 child sits Cambridge or Pearson IGCSE?+

Look at the top right corner of any past paper they have brought home. A four-digit code beginning with zero, such as 0580 or 0625, is Cambridge International. A code of the form 4MA1 or 4PH1 is Pearson Edexcel International GCSE. If no paper is to hand, email the school and ask for the board and syllabus code for every examined subject; it is a routine request. Schools in the Al Barsha and Nad Al Sheba corridor sometimes use different boards for different subjects, so check each one rather than assuming.

Does an IGCSE tutor near me in Al Quoz 4 have to be physically nearby?+

No, and in this area it works against you. Al Quoz 4 sits between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, where the 15:30 to 17:00 crossing is the slowest part of the day. A tutor who drives can only offer the hours their route allows, which clusters around 16:00 to 18:00, and for a Year 11 student off an extended-day bus at 16:20 that window barely exists. Online delivery removes the drive, opens 19:30 and weekend mornings, and widens the pool to every specialist teaching that code.

Does IB Gram send a tutor to a villa in Al Quoz 4?+

No. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we offer only in India. Lessons for Al Quoz 4 families are one to one over live video, with a shared whiteboard and the student's own school material on screen. We state this plainly because parts of this market do not: several providers imply a visit and then connect families to tutors who are not in the country. If someone in the room is what you want, you want a different provider.

Is a Core entry in Cambridge Mathematics a problem for my child?+

It is a ceiling rather than a problem in itself. A Cambridge Core entry means Paper 1 and Paper 2 and a maximum grade of C; Extended means Paper 3 and Paper 4 with A* available. For a student heading to a vocational or humanities route, Core can be the right fit and reduces the risk of a poor grade. For anyone who might want A Level Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Economics, a C ceiling can close those doors. Ask the school which tier, what cap, and the last date it can change.

When do UAE students sit their IGCSE exams, and is there a February sitting?+

There is not, for candidates in the UAE. Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level in a June series and a November series for UAE centres; the February and March series is offered to India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November. The November route works as a repair series with results arriving the following January, as happened when November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Check your school's zone timetable on the board's own site.

What is the Cambridge administrative zone, and why should I care?+

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, and the exam timetable differs between them. Cambridge states it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Parents who download a timetable from a search result are at genuine risk of planning around the wrong dates. Ask your child's school which zone it is in, then use only that timetable for revision planning.

How many IGCSE passes does the Ministry of Education count for equivalency?+

The published British-track equivalency rule requires five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, together with one Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among those five. At least one site ranking for these searches states six subjects, which does not match the published rule. Verify the current requirement with the Ministry of Education before acting on any version of it.

How much does an IGCSE tutor cost in Dubai right now?+

Taking published Dubai market figures rather than our own, university-student tutors online advertise from around AED 33 to 65 an hour, a qualified subject tutor online runs roughly AED 150 to 300, and an IGCSE or IB specialist sits at AED 200 to 450 and above. In-home visits are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included. Those bands come from Tutopiya, EdFlik, Unitors, TutorChase and the Bestimate Dubai rate table. Measure any quote you receive, including ours, against them.

Can science be tutored properly over video when there is no lab?+

The examinable part can, because the papers assess method and analysis rather than manual skill. Cambridge's Alternative to Practical tests experimental design, instrument reading, precision, plotting and sources of error. Pearson assesses the same skills inside its written papers. All of that is teachable on a shared whiteboard, and graph work is arguably better on screen because the plot can be saved and reread. If a student has genuinely missed school practical work, that is a conversation with the school, and a tutor should say so.

My son is in Year 11 with eight subjects, so which should we tutor?+

Usually two or three, never eight. Rank by distance from the post-16 entry grade he actually needs, then by marginal return, which is generally steepest in mathematics and the sciences where method is teachable and a repeated error can be removed in a fortnight, then by whichever subject is costing him confidence. A subject already near target rarely justifies a weekly hour; that one responds better to a changed revision routine. A good tutor will tell you that in the first session.

Which evening slots actually work for Year 11 students in Al Quoz 4?+

19:30 on a weekday and 10:00 on Saturday, in that order. Bells across the schools this area feeds fall between 14:30 and 15:45, and the Al Quoz bus loop adds twenty-five to forty minutes, so an extended-day student can walk in at 16:20 with eight subjects of homework ahead of them. A 16:00 start catches them on the road. Dubai schools finish around midday on Friday, which makes Saturday morning the one hour in the week a Year 11 student is genuinely rested.

Is mock fortnight a good time to start tutoring or a bad one?+

It is the best fortnight of the year to start, for two reasons. The student is already in exam mode, so timed practice feels normal rather than imposed, and the marked script arrives fresh with every lost mark visible. Four sessions built from a real mock paper usually achieve more than twelve sessions built from a syllabus checklist in October. Schools in Dubai often release students for parts of mock season, which is also the rare moment when a daytime session is possible.

Does the school have to tell me which tier my child is entered for?+

Schools in Dubai will tell you if you ask, but many do not volunteer it, because entries are handled as administration rather than as a parental decision. Put the request in writing and ask three things: the tier for each examined subject, the maximum grade that tier allows, and the last date on which a change can be submitted. Those three answers let you decide whether to press for a move while it is still possible, rather than discovering the ceiling when results arrive.

Can an Al Quoz 4 tutor read a coursework draft without writing any of it?+

Yes, within a clear boundary. A tutor can teach the underlying content, explain what the assessment criteria reward, question whether a plan is answerable, point at a weak section and say why it is weak, and model technique on a different example. No tutor at IB Gram will write coursework, draft it, or edit it into something the student could not have produced. Work submitted for assessment must be the student's own, and a service that offers otherwise puts the child at risk, not itself.

What if you have nobody free for my child's subject and time?+

We tell you, rather than filling the slot with a generalist. Common subjects at common hours are usually matched within a few days. Narrow combinations take longer: a specific Pearson science code at a fixed weekday hour, or a less commonly taught language, can need a week or more, and occasionally there is nobody suitable at all. Hearing that honestly is more useful eight weeks before a paper than discovering in session three that the tutor has never taught the specification.

Start with the code and the tier

Two short questions settle most of what this page covers. Which syllabus code is each subject, and which tier is your child entered for. Email the school, photograph a past paper, then send us both along with the school finish time and when the bus actually reaches Al Quoz 4. We will match a tutor who teaches that specification every week and put them in front of your child on a free trial lesson before anything is paid. Lessons run live online, one to one, at an hour your household can keep through mock season as well as October.
