IGCSE Science Tutor in Al Rashidiya

An IGCSE science tutor in Al Rashidiya is nearly always being asked to cover three subjects with the time and money for one. The district has no secondary school, its students bus out to Al Garhoud, Mirdif or Al Warqa, and the evening that comes back is short. This page is about choosing which science to fund first. IB Gram teaches Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel science one to one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, with a free trial lesson before anything is paid.

  • Separate specialists for biology, chemistry and physics, not one science tutor
  • Cambridge 0610, 0620, 0625 and Pearson 4BI1, 4CH1, 4PH1 all covered
  • Live one-to-one video in Gulf Standard Time, slot set from the arrival home
  • Free first lesson on a past question from your child's own syllabus code

IB & IGCSE in Al Rashidiya

Three sciences, one slot, and a decision nobody helps you make

Families searching for a science tutor in this district are rarely asking about one subject. A Year 10 or Year 11 student is carrying biology, chemistry and physics, either as three separate IGCSEs or as a combined award, and something has gone wrong in at least one of them. The household has the money and the evening for roughly one weekly hour. The question is which science that hour should buy, and almost nobody answers it, because answering it honestly means telling a parent not to buy two more hours.

The geography makes the constraint tighter here than in some districts. Al Rashidiya sits between Dubai International Airport, Al Garhoud and Nad Al Hamar and has no secondary school of its own. Its students travel: a short run north into the Garhoud cluster, or east along Algeria Street towards Mirdif, Al Mizhar and Al Warqa, where collecting bus routes take the better part of forty minutes once school finishes. A student home at 4.15pm has one usable hour before the evening belongs to the family, and three sciences cannot share it.

So this page is a decision aid before it is anything else. Which award is your child entered for, and does that change the answer. Which of the three sciences is actually losing the marks, as opposed to which one feels hardest. Which of them has a practical component that needs separate attention. And what the realistic cost looks like if two subjects genuinely need support rather than one.

The second thing worth saying plainly is that a science tutor is not a thing. Biology, chemistry and physics fail differently: biology on terminology and volume, chemistry on mole arithmetic, physics on circuits and on reasoning from a model. Somebody good at all three to IGCSE standard exists, but somebody good at one of them is both commoner and better, and on a single funded hour the specialist wins. We list our tutors by subject rather than as science generalists for exactly that reason.

There is also a cheaper answer than any of the three subjects, and it is worth knowing before you spend. A large part of what separates a grade 5 from a grade 7 in all three sciences is not content at all but the discipline of answering the command term that was used, writing an explanation where an explanation is asked for, and referring to the data in a conclusion. That skill is taught once and collects marks in biology, chemistry and physics at the same time, which makes it the best-value purchase available to a Year 11 student two terms from a series.

IB Gram delivers all of this as one-to-one lessons over live video in Gulf Standard Time, with the slot set from your child's real arrival home. Home visits are an India-only service; nobody is driving to an address in the UAE, which means the travel time that would otherwise come out of the hour stays in the lesson. The rest of this page is the detail: the awards, the practical components by board, the triage between three subjects, the market rates in dirhams with every figure attributed, and the exam calendar read backwards from the entry deadline.

At a glance

  • Al Rashidiya students sit IGCSE science in Al Garhoud, Mirdif, Al Mizhar, Al Warqa or Al Qusais
  • Eastern bus routes run around forty minutes after school; Garhoud-direction runs are short
  • Triple award gives three separate grades; combined or co-ordinated routes give fewer
  • Biology, chemistry and physics fail for different reasons and need different specialists
  • Cambridge sets a separate practical or alternative-to-practical paper; Pearson examines practical skills within the written papers
  • Lessons are live one-to-one video; no tutor attends a UAE address

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Science trouble at IGCSE is usually inherited from the middle years and usually matters because of what comes after. These are the stages we cover either side of the exam course.

LSAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Lower Secondary science

Where scientific vocabulary and the habit of writing a precise explanation are either built or missed. Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests sit in March, May and October and give a school an external read. The content is not examined for a certificate, which makes this the cheapest point at which to fix a weak explanation habit.

Several schools serving Al Rashidiya use Year 9 results to decide who takes triple science and who takes a combined route in Year 10. That decision can close off A Level sciences two years before anybody discusses university, so Year 9 is the moment to ask which award your child is being steered towards and on what evidence.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE and International GCSE sciences

Either three separate sciences, each with its own syllabus code and its own grade, or a combined or co-ordinated route producing fewer grades from a reduced content load. Cambridge codes include 0610 biology, 0620 chemistry and 0625 physics; the Pearson Edexcel equivalents are 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. Practical assessment differs between the boards, which matters for how revision time is spent.

UK-curriculum schools account for roughly thirty-seven per cent of Dubai private-school enrolment, so these are the commonest science examinations a sixteen-year-old in this corridor sits. It also means the local tuition market is full of general science tutors, and the syllabus code on the statement of entry is the quickest way to tell who has actually taught the paper your child faces.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme sciences

Integrated sciences assessed against criteria A to D rather than by paper marks, run by the IB continuum schools in this part of Dubai. MYP builds investigation design and evaluation well and builds timed written-answer technique less well, which is the gap that shows when a student crosses into an IGCSE year or straight into the Diploma.

Uptown International School is the nearest IB continuum option to Al Rashidiya, so families moving between an MYP school in Mirdif and a British-curriculum school in Al Garhoud are a routine local case. The hardest part of that move is not content but the shift from an open-ended task to a paper that awards marks for a specific form of words.

POSTAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

A Level and IB Diploma science routes

What the science grades are for. A Level sciences typically expect grade 7 or above at IGCSE in the same subject, and IB Diploma schools set their own Higher Level bars. A combined-science route can leave a student formally eligible and practically underprepared for a Higher Level science, which is worth knowing in Year 10 rather than in results week.

Both routes are reachable within an ordinary school run from Al Rashidiya, with Diploma provision in the Garhoud and Mirdif clusters. Check entry requirements with the specific sixth form and with any university your child may later apply to, rather than relying on a general rule, because requirements vary by institution and by year.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The three sciences lose marks in different places, and the triage on this page depends on knowing which places. Here is what each subject actually demands.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Content volume is the trap. Students revise the whole syllabus thinly and then lose the long-answer marks that want precise terminology: osmosis explained without water potential, enzymes without the active site. Writing to the command term is worth more here than another pass through the textbook.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Moles decide the grade. A student who can explain the method but cannot move between mass, moles and concentration in fifteen seconds loses marks across every paper. Organic chemistry and the reactivity series reward memory; stoichiometry rewards practice, which is the part students skip.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity, and series and parallel circuits in particular, separates students more reliably than any other topic. The second recurring loss is the practical component, which asks students to criticise an experiment they did not run, and that is a learned written skill rather than recall.

Combined and co-ordinated science routes

Core and Extended

A reduced content load across all three sciences producing fewer grades. Sensible for many students and a real constraint for anyone heading towards A Level or Higher Level sciences, because the depth that a sixth-form course assumes may not have been covered. Check the award before planning a post-16 route.

Practical and alternative-to-practical skills

Core and Extended

Reading a described method, identifying control variables, criticising a procedure and interpreting someone else's results. Cambridge assesses this in a dedicated component; Pearson examines it inside the main written papers. Either way it is practised on past questions, not learned from a textbook.

Graph work and data handling in science

Core and Extended

Plotting accurately, drawing a line of best fit that is defensible, reading a gradient and stating what it means physically or biologically. Mechanical marks available in all three subjects, routinely lost to rushed axes and to conclusions that do not refer to the data.

Scientific explanation and command terms

Core and Extended

The difference between describe, explain, suggest and compare, and what each one has to contain to earn its marks. This is the single highest-yield piece of work across all three sciences and it covers no new content whatsoever, which makes it the obvious first purchase late in Year 11.

The maths inside the sciences

Core and Extended

Rearranging a formula, handling standard form, percentages and ratios, and significant figures. A student whose science marks drop in calculation questions usually has a maths problem wearing a science costume, and three sessions on rearrangement does more than ten on content.

Required practical knowledge and apparatus

Core and Extended

Knowing what a named piece of apparatus does, what a standard test for an ion or a gas looks like, and what a sensible range of readings is. Finite, learnable content that appears every series, and routinely under-revised because it feels like trivia.

Extended-response questions in biology

Extended

The six-mark style questions that reward a structured answer using the correct terminology in the correct order. Students who know the biology still lose half the marks by writing a general paragraph instead of addressing each element the question asks for.

Triple-science time management

Core and Extended

Not a topic but the real problem for many Year 11 students: three sciences, three sets of past papers and a finite number of evenings. Planning which subject gets which evening is work a tutor should do with a family rather than leave to chance.

Arabic and the mandatory subjects alongside science

All tiers

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies run alongside IGCSE in every Dubai private school whatever curriculum it is licensed for. They occupy timetable space, which is relevant when a family is calculating how many tutoring hours a Year 11 week can genuinely hold.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to spend a limited science budget, all delivered as live one-to-one video lessons in Gulf Standard Time.

One science, one weekly slot

The default recommendation and the one most families should start with. Pick the subject where the marks are actually leaving, book one specialist for one fixed weekday, and leave the other two sciences to the school for now. A specialist hour in the failing subject moves a grade; a divided hour across three sciences moves none, and this is the single most common mistake in this market.

  • One subject, one specialist, one fixed weekday slot
  • Chosen from marked papers rather than from how a subject feels
  • Reviewed at six lessons against marks on the same question types
  • Slot set from the real arrival home with recovery time

Two sciences on alternating weeks

Where two subjects genuinely need support and the budget allows one hour a week, alternating is better than halving. A full hour in biology this week and a full hour in chemistry next week keeps both tutors working on something substantial, where two half-hours achieve the arrival and departure and little else. It is a compromise and we would rather say so than dress it up.

  • Full hours alternating rather than two half-hours
  • Separate specialists, one per subject
  • Written note each week so the other subject is not forgotten
  • Honest about being a compromise, not an optimum

Practical-skills or exam-technique block

Six to ten sessions aimed at a skill rather than a subject. The two that earn their money across all three sciences are command-term technique and the practical component, whether that is Cambridge's dedicated paper or Pearson's within-paper assessment. Both are written skills, both cover no new content, and both lift marks in biology, chemistry and physics simultaneously.

  • One skill, taught across all three sciences at once
  • Built entirely from past questions in the right board's style
  • Fixed number of sessions with a visible finish
  • Best value available in the final two terms of Year 11

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Rashidiya

01

Triple, double or combined: find out before you spend anything

The first question is not which science to tutor. It is which award your child is entered for, because the answer changes what the tutoring is trying to achieve. A triple-award student sits three separate sciences with three separate syllabus codes and receives three grades. A combined or co-ordinated student covers a reduced content load and receives fewer grades from it.

Neither route is better in the abstract. The combined route is a sensible decision for a great many students and removes a real workload problem. What it also does, quietly, is change what a sixth form can offer afterwards, because A Level and Higher Level science courses assume a depth of prior content that a reduced route may not have covered. A student can be formally eligible and practically underprepared, and that gap is discovered in the first term of Year 12 rather than at the point the award was chosen.

The practical consequence for tutoring is about target rather than effort. For a triple-award student aiming at A Level chemistry, the work is depth in chemistry. For a combined-science student whose problem is that the physics content inside the award is thin, the work is different and may be preparatory rather than remedial. A tutor who does not ask which award is in play is guessing.

Get the award and the codes from the statement of entry, which the school issues ahead of each series and which most parents have never opened. Your exams officer will send it. Bring it to the first conversation with any tutor, and confirm the current paper structure on cambridgeinternational.org or qualifications.pearson.com rather than from any summary, this page included.

02

Which of the three sciences should the one funded hour go to?

This is the question the page exists to answer, and the answer is almost never the subject that feels hardest. Feelings follow the teacher, the class and the last test; marks follow a pattern. Get three marked papers, one per science, and the choice usually makes itself in ten minutes.

Look for the shape of the loss rather than the total. Biology marks lost in long-answer questions point at terminology and command-term technique, which is cheap to fix and lifts the other two sciences at the same time. Chemistry marks lost in calculations point at mole fluency, which is pure practice and responds within weeks. Physics marks lost in circuits or in the practical component point at a specific conceptual topic and a specific written skill, both of which need a physics specialist rather than a general science tutor.

Then weigh what the grade is for. A student who needs chemistry for a medicine-adjacent route and biology only as a third subject should fund chemistry even if biology looks worse on the report, because the consequence of each grade is different. A student with no science route in mind should fund whichever subject is closest to a grade boundary, because that is where an hour buys the most.

The table sets out the triage we actually use. Run it with marked papers in front of you rather than with impressions, and be prepared for the answer to be a subject your child has not complained about.

03

The practical component, and why the board matters

Science practical assessment is the place where Cambridge and Pearson diverge most, and it is also the place where families most often buy the wrong preparation. A tutor who has drilled Cambridge alternative-to-practical questions for years has a genuinely valuable skill that does not map onto the Pearson arrangement, where practical understanding is examined inside the main written papers.

What the Cambridge component actually asks for is worth understanding, because it surprises parents. It does not test whether a student can perform an experiment. It tests whether they can read a described method, identify the variables that should have been controlled, criticise the procedure, suggest an improvement and interpret results they did not generate. Those are written skills with a learnable structure, and a student who has done twenty of them is in a different position from one who has done two.

This has a convenient consequence. Because the component is a written skill rather than a laboratory skill, it is taught perfectly well over a shared screen with past questions open. The actual laboratory work, apparatus and safety supervision remain the school's responsibility, as they always were, and no tutor is bringing equipment into an Al Rashidiya villa.

Ask any prospective science tutor which board's practical arrangement they have taught and how many series of it. The answer separates a specialist from somebody who will teach the content and leave the component to chance, which is where a meaningful share of science marks quietly goes.

What a science hour costs in this corridor, and what three would cost

The arithmetic families actually face is not the hourly rate but the hourly rate multiplied by three, and that is where decisions are really made. Here are the published Dubai figures, each read on the provider's own public page so you can open it and check.

EdFlik advertises budget online tutoring from AED 45 to 65 an hour, with Tutopiya's published panel starting lower again. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150. Named IGCSE specialists run roughly AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270 and Bestimate's Dubai table reaching the top of that band. BartyED publishes AED 650 at the premium end. In-home one to one is quoted at AED 180 to 500 because the rate carries a round trip through the Garhoud interchange or Algeria Street.

Multiply the specialist band by three weekly hours and the monthly figure becomes a number most households will not sustain, which is precisely why the triage section above matters more than the rate comparison. Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly one-hour tutoring run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or above for exam-year specialist support, and those are per subject. Monthly packages seen locally sit around AED 799 for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four in-home sessions of two hours.

None of these is an IB Gram price and we publish no rate card on these pages. The practical conclusion is the uncomfortable one: for most families the right purchase is one specialist hour in the subject the marked papers identify, plus a technique block that lifts all three, rather than three diluted arrangements nobody can afford to keep.

The weekday the lesson sits on, and the two evenings of practice

  • Garhoud-direction families 4.30pm; eastern bus routes 5.30pm or later
  • Al Warqa and Al Khawaneej students are often better served by weekend mornings
  • Practice on two separate evenings, named specifically in the lesson note
  • Shift the slot for Ramadan before it starts; use holiday weeks for defined blocks

Scheduling is a money question, because a session that does not happen costs the same as one that does. For Al Rashidiya families the slot has to be set from the arrival home on a bad afternoon rather than the earliest time that ever worked, and the difference between those two choices is whether the arrangement still exists in February.

Garhoud-direction families can hold 4.30pm reliably. Mirdif, Al Mizhar and Al Warqa bus routes need 5.30pm or later, with Al Warqa and Al Khawaneej students often better served by a weekend morning. Add recovery time: a student off a forty-minute bus in Dubai heat needs food and twenty minutes before they are any use on a six-mark biology question.

Around the lesson, put the practice on two separate evenings rather than one. All three sciences reward frequency, and in chemistry specifically mole arithmetic only becomes automatic through repetition. Twenty minutes twice beats ninety minutes once by a wide margin, and the tutor's written note should name the practice specifically so that it is checkable rather than aspirational.

Plan the exceptions in advance. During Ramadan school days are shortened and household routines move to the evening, so the slot usually shifts to after iftar; because no tutor is travelling, that change costs a message. Holiday weeks suit a short defined block on one topic better than a weekly slot limping through while the family is away.

One more scheduling point that is specific to triple science. Three subjects means three sets of past papers competing for the same evenings in the final two terms, and left to chance a student will revise whichever subject has the nearest test rather than the one that needs the hours. Write the week down once, give each science a named evening, and the tutor can then work inside a plan rather than against one. It takes twenty minutes in October and saves a term of improvisation.

06

Counting backwards from the science entry deadline

The date that catches families out is the entry rather than the exam. A school submits entries months before the first paper, and that submission fixes the tier and the series. A tier discovered to be wrong in February is wrong for that series, whatever is bought afterwards.

Get the series right first. UAE candidates sit the June and the November series. Cambridge runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in those two series, with Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February and March series is offered to India only, so any plan built around a March window is built for another country. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone, warning that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Ask which zone your centre sits in.

For dated examples, Pearson's published record is the checkable one. The Pearson Edexcel International GCSE November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those are past dates, which is why they are safe to use as a shape rather than as a promise.

Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so open the live official timetable rather than relying on any restated date, including this one. For a triple-science student the practical reading of the table is that three subjects' revision has to be sequenced across the same window, which is another argument for deciding early which one gets the funded hour.

What a science tutor may and may not do with school work

  • Feedback arrives as questions your child answers, never as text to paste
  • No part of a submitted investigation or task is written by a tutor
  • No past papers, mark schemes or syllabus documents are supplied by us
  • An offer to produce assessed work is a reason to walk away

IGCSE science carries less assessed coursework than it once did, which simplifies the honesty question without removing it. School investigations, projects and internally marked tasks still exist, and the boundary is the same one every board applies.

A tutor may teach the method, work a comparable example, question a student about their own attempt and point out where the reasoning does not hold. A tutor may not write, complete, redo or edit to completion any piece of work the student submits. The practical test for a parent requires no science: if the feedback reads as sentences your child could copy in, the line has been crossed, and if it reads as questions they must go and answer, it has not.

It is worth knowing what is on sale nearby. One page in the researched competitor set advertises completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price, which is an academic-integrity breach and an examination malpractice trigger, and the student bears the consequence rather than the seller. Any offer of that kind should end a conversation rather than start a negotiation.

We also decline to reproduce or supply board material. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to Cambridge and Pearson and are available from them or through the school. Pointing a parent at the official page is both the lawful answer and the more useful one, because the official page is current while a file circulating in a school parent group is often from a superseded specification.

08

Starting, and what we will say about availability

Send four things. The board and syllabus codes from the statement of entry, including the award. Photographs of marked papers in all three sciences if you have them, or in the weakest two if not. Whether a specific science is needed for a post-16 route. And the time your child is realistically through the door on a bad traffic afternoon.

With those, the triage takes one conversation rather than a term of trial and error, and the recommendation will sometimes be to fund a subject your child has not complained about. The free trial lesson then runs forty minutes on a past question in that subject, with your child working and the tutor teaching, and afterwards you receive a written read on the loss pattern and the weeks it implies.

Sometimes the honest answer is about availability rather than approach. Late-evening Gulf Standard Time slots fill first and weekend mornings fill during exam terms, and a specialist in a particular board's practical component requested close to a series may not be free. We will give a realistic match time rather than filling the hour with a general science tutor, because the wrong tutor in the right slot costs the fee and the weeks.

What we need is limited to what matching requires: board, codes, award, year group, school if you want its sequence followed, and a contact for scheduling. We do not need a photograph of your child or a full grade history across every subject. UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 governs the data we hold and the privacy link on this page sets out what is kept and how to have it removed.

Where we tutor

Where the science labs are, relative to Al Rashidiya

Science is taught where the laboratories are, which is to say outside this district. Here is the geography that determines both which school your child attends and what time a lesson can start.

Al Garhoud

The short run north across Al Rebat Street, and the direction with the easiest afternoon. Students are home quickly, which makes a 4.30pm science slot one a household can keep for a full academic year.

Mirdif

East along Algeria Street, with large school catchments and collecting bus routes. Thirty-five to forty-five minutes once school finishes is normal here, which puts the first usable lesson slot at 5.30pm.

Al Mizhar

Villa communities beyond Mirdif, sharing schools and buses with Al Rashidiya households. Where two children in a family attend the same school, both slots can be booked consecutively and the house only needs to be quiet once.

Al Warqa

South-east, with the longest routes and the largest cohorts in this part of Dubai. Students arrive home late and flat; for these families a weekend morning science lesson consistently outperforms a weekday evening one.

Al Qusais

North-east across Damascus Street, where afternoon traffic rather than distance decides the arrival time. A nominal twenty-minute journey regularly doubles between 2.30pm and 4pm.

Nad Al Hamar

Directly south on quieter roads and the fastest run in this corridor. Useful where a younger sibling attends school in this direction, because the household then needs two different slots rather than one.

Dubai Festival City

North-west via the Garhoud interchange, the least predictable junction in the eastern city during the school window. Two students leaving the same school minutes apart can be home half an hour apart.

Dubai Silicon Oasis

South-east along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, twenty minutes off-peak and considerably longer at the end of the school day. Several secondary options here draw students from across the eastern suburbs.

International City

South along Emirates Road, a large catchment feeding schools across the corridor. For parents already driving two legs a day, a lesson needing no third journey is the clearest practical saving available.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Rashidiya

The short run: Al Garhoud, Al Mamzar and the creek side

The nearer direction and the one where an early-evening science lesson is easiest to hold. A mix of British-curriculum, IB continuum and Indian-curriculum schools. Boards vary by school and occasionally by subject, so confirm your child's with the exams officer rather than assuming from the school's reputation. Students we support attend schools in this group.

  • Deira International School
  • Rashid School for Boys
  • Al Mawakeb School, Al Garhoud
  • Al Ittihad Private School, Al Mamzar
  • Dubai Gem Private School

The long run: Mirdif, Al Mizhar and Al Warqa

The eastern direction, where most of the British-curriculum science cohorts in this corridor sit their papers and where the bus routes are longest. The commute is why families here ask for later slots and why in-home tutors charge a travel premium to reach them. Students we support attend schools across this cluster.

  • Uptown International School
  • Star International School Mirdif
  • GEMS Royal Dubai School
  • Al Mizhar American Academy
  • The Sheffield Private School
  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Al Warqa

Across Damascus Street: Al Qusais and the northern corridor

Where several of the largest secondary cohorts in Dubai are enrolled, with afternoon traffic rather than distance setting the arrival time. Science sets here are often large, which is part of why one-to-one attention on a specific weak topic makes a visible difference. Students we support attend schools in this cluster.

  • The Westminster School
  • The Indian Academy
  • Al Diyafah High School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School

Schools are named as context for the Al Rashidiya school run and the science curricula taught nearby; no affiliation, endorsement or partnership with any named school is claimed or implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the award and the codes

The statement of entry names the board, the syllabus code and the tier for each science, and whether the award is triple, double, combined or co-ordinated. Your exams officer will send it. Everything else on this page depends on this document.

  2. 02

    Collect three marked papers

One per science if possible. The triage is done from marks rather than from impressions, and the shape of the loss, long answers against calculations against practical questions, points at which subject the funded hour should buy.

  3. 03

Say what the grades are for

A chemistry grade needed for a medicine-adjacent route is worth funding ahead of a biology grade that is merely untidy. If no science route is in mind, the borderline subject is the right choice because an hour buys the most marks near a boundary.

  4. 04

Set the slot from the arrival home

Garhoud-direction families can hold 4.30pm; Mirdif, Al Mizhar and Al Warqa routes need 5.30pm or later. Add recovery time after a long bus, and pick the time that works on the worst afternoon rather than the best.

  5. 05

    Take the free trial lesson

Forty minutes on a past question in the chosen subject, with your child doing the work. Ask the tutor which board's practical arrangement they have taught and how many series of it, then read the written note that follows.

  6. 06

Review at six lessons against marks

Against marks on the question types that were going wrong, not against how the lessons felt. If the pattern has not shifted we change the tutor or the approach, and if a different science now looks more urgent we will say so.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We will tell you which science to fund

The triage on this page is the service, and it sometimes means recommending a subject your child has not complained about, or a technique block instead of a subject. A divided hour across three sciences moves none of them, and saying that costs us two bookings.

Specialists by subject, not science generalists

Biology, chemistry and physics fail differently: terminology, mole arithmetic, circuits. Our tutors are listed by subject because on a single funded hour a specialist beats an all-rounder, and the difference shows in extended-response marks.

The practical component is treated as a skill

Cambridge sets a dedicated practical or alternative-to-practical component; Pearson examines practical understanding inside the written papers. Both are written skills taught from past questions, and we ask which board a tutor has actually taught before shortlisting them.

Published rates, each attributed

Every AED figure here was read on the provider's own public page and credited to them, and none is an IB Gram price. We also show what three subjects would cost, because that is the arithmetic families actually face and nobody else publishes it.

The slot is set from the bus

Lessons are live one-to-one video in Gulf Standard Time with no tutor travelling, so the only scheduling variable is your child's arrival home. Home visits are an India-only service and are not offered anywhere in the UAE.

No board or regulator claims

We explain what KHDA, the Ministry of Education and the MoHRE permit actually govern and link to their own pages. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from any of them or from Cambridge or Pearson, and claims none.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Rashidiya: your questions answered

My child does all three sciences and we can only afford one tutor. Which one?+

Decide from marked papers rather than from which subject feels hardest. Long answers scoring half marks across all three point at command-term technique, which can be taught once and lifts every science. Chemistry calculation losses point at mole fluency, which is pure practice. Physics circuit losses point at a specific conceptual topic needing a physics specialist. Then weigh what each grade is for: a chemistry grade needed for a medicine-adjacent route outranks an untidy biology grade. If no route is in mind, fund whichever subject sits closest to a boundary.

Is there such a thing as a good science tutor for all three subjects?+

At IGCSE standard, yes, such people exist, and on one funded hour a specialist still beats them. The three sciences fail for different reasons: biology on terminology and the structure of extended answers, chemistry on mole arithmetic that is understood but not automatic, physics on circuits and on reasoning from a model. A specialist recognises the pattern in a marked paper within two minutes. An all-rounder teaches content competently and often misses the specific thing costing the marks.

How do I find out whether my child is on triple or combined science?+

The statement of entry, which the school issues ahead of each series, names the board, the syllabus code and the tier for every subject and shows whether three separate sciences are entered or a combined or co-ordinated route. Your exams officer will send a copy. It matters beyond labelling: combined routes cover a reduced content load, and while a student may be formally eligible for an A Level science afterwards, they can be practically underprepared, and that gap is discovered in Year 12.

Does a combined science award stop my child taking A Level sciences?+

Not automatically, and it may make them harder. A Level and Higher Level science courses assume a depth of prior content, and a reduced route may not have covered it, so a student can meet an entry requirement on paper and struggle in the first term. The right move is to ask the specific sixth form what it expects from a combined-science entrant and what it recommends covering over the summer. Ask before the award is chosen if you can, and in Year 11 if you cannot.

What exactly does the Cambridge alternative-to-practical paper test?+

Not whether a student can perform an experiment. It gives them a described method and asks them to identify which variables should have been controlled, criticise the procedure, suggest an improvement and interpret results they did not generate. That is a written skill with a learnable structure, and a student who has attempted twenty of these questions is in a different position from one who has attempted two. It is also why online tutoring suits it: a shared screen with past questions open is exactly the right setting.

Does it matter whether my child sits Cambridge or Pearson science?+

For choosing a tutor, yes. Practical assessment is where the two diverge most: Cambridge sets a dedicated practical or alternative-to-practical component, while Pearson examines practical understanding inside the main written papers. A tutor experienced in one arrangement is not automatically useful in the other, and past papers do not transfer. Ask which board and how many series they have taught it, and confirm the current structure on cambridgeinternational.org or qualifications.pearson.com rather than from any third-party summary.

What would it cost to fund all three sciences weekly?+

More than most households will sustain, which is the honest reason this page is a triage rather than a shop. Bestimate's Dubai monthly estimates for weekly one-hour tutoring run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or above for exam-year specialist support, and those figures are per subject. Three specialist subjects means three times the specialist monthly band. One specialist hour plus a technique block that lifts all three is the arrangement most families should buy.

Would a technique block really help all three sciences at once?+

Yes, and it is the most underused purchase in this market. Command-term discipline, knowing what describe, explain, suggest and compare each have to contain, plus graph work and conclusions that refer to the data, are the same skills in biology, chemistry and physics. A six-to-ten session block teaching them across all three covers no new content and lifts marks in every paper. For a Year 11 student two terms from a series, it is usually better value than content teaching in any single subject.

What time should a science lesson start if my child buses back from Al Warqa?+

Later than you want, or on a weekend morning. Al Warqa routes are among the longest in this part of Dubai and students arrive home around half past four, flat. A 5pm lesson is being taught to somebody who is still on the bus mentally. For these families 6.30pm or 7pm works if the house is quiet, and a Saturday or Sunday morning works better still. The comparison is not one hour against another; it is a rested student against an exhausted one.

How much practice should go alongside a weekly science lesson?+

Twenty to thirty minutes on two separate evenings rather than ninety minutes once. All three sciences reward frequency, and in chemistry the mole arithmetic only becomes automatic through repetition. The practice should be named specifically in the tutor's written note after each lesson, so you can check it happened rather than hope. Put it on evenings that are genuinely free: not after a long fixture, not on the heaviest homework night, and not on the evening the lesson itself sits.

My child says biology is just too much to remember. Is that fixable?+

Usually, and not by more revision. Biology's content volume tempts students into one thin pass over everything, which produces recall good enough for short questions and useless for the extended-response ones where the marks concentrate. The fix is structural: learn the terminology precisely for a smaller number of topics, and practise building answers that address each element a question asks for in order. That is technique work, it covers no new content, and it typically shows up within four or five sessions.

Can a science tutor help with my child's school investigation?+

Within a firm boundary. A tutor may teach the method, work a comparable example, question your child about their own attempt and point out where the reasoning does not hold. A tutor may not write, complete, redo or edit to completion any work your child submits. The test needs no science on your part: feedback as questions they must answer is correct, feedback as sentences they could copy in is not. One page in this search result sells completed Internal Assessments, and the student carries the malpractice risk.

Do you give out science past papers and mark schemes?+

No. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to Cambridge and Pearson and are not ours to reproduce or distribute. We teach against the codes your child is entered for and point you to the board's own site or to the school. That is also the more useful answer, because the official page is current while files circulating in school parent groups are frequently from superseded specifications and will quietly send a student to the wrong question styles.

Which series will my child sit, and when do results arrive?+

UAE candidates sit the June and November series. The Cambridge February and March series is offered to India only, so ignore any plan built around a March window. For dated shape, Pearson's published record is checkable: the International GCSE November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Always open the live official timetable, because provisional versions are revised before each series.

What should we send you before the first science lesson?+

Four things. The board, syllabus codes and award from the statement of entry. Marked papers in as many of the three sciences as you have. Whether any specific science is needed for a post-16 route, because that changes the recommendation. And the time your child is realistically through the door on a bad traffic afternoon. We do not need a photograph of your child or a full grade history; UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 governs the data held and the privacy link explains it.

Fund one science properly rather than three thinly

The decision that matters for an Al Rashidiya family is not which tutor but which subject. Get the statement of entry so you know the award and the codes, collect a marked paper in each science, and look at the shape of the loss rather than the total. If the long answers are weak across all three, buy technique and it lifts everything. If the chemistry calculations are the problem, buy chemistry. Then set the slot from the afternoon your child actually gets home at the worst, and take the free trial lesson in that one subject. One hour spent in the right place moves a grade; the same hour split three ways moves nothing.
