IB Home Tutor in Al Rashidiya

Most families looking for an IB home tutor in Al Rashidiya want a figure before a name, and almost nobody in this market publishes one. This page does, starting at the bottom of the range and working up, with every dirham amount attributed to the provider that published it. Then it sets out a two-year Diploma budget planned backwards, and the five places families in this part of Dubai reliably lose money. Lessons run one-to-one over live video.

  • A two-year Diploma budget planned in advance, not monthly

IB & IGCSE in Al Rashidiya

A price range of twenty to one, and what explains it

The published rates for IB tutoring in Dubai run from AED 33 an hour to AED 650 an hour. That is a twenty-fold spread for something described by every provider in roughly the same words, and no page in this market explains it. So before any discussion of what to buy, here is what each tier of that range actually contains, starting at the cheapest, because that is where most families in Al Rashidiya begin looking.

At the bottom, roughly AED 33 to 65 an hour as published by two providers, you are buying a university student or recent graduate who knows the subject. That is genuinely useful for homework supervision and for a younger student who needs company and momentum. It is not reliable for anything involving the Diploma's assessment model, because assessment literacy is the thing that tier does not include and nobody at that price should be expected to supply it.

In the middle, roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, you are buying a trained teacher who knows the syllabus, with one Dubai agency publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. This is where most Diploma tutoring should transact. Above it, roughly AED 200 to 450 and above, sit specialists in a single subject at a single level, with one UK agency publishing AED 270. At the top, AED 500 to 650 and above, one provider publishes AED 650 for examiner-branded provision, and what that buys is scarcity and brand rather than a demonstrably different outcome.

Separately, in-home visits are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included, where Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table gives 180 to 350 and independent home tutors advertise 200 to 500. Monthly packages seen in this market are AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Those two monthly figures, placed side by side, are the clearest statement of what the travel component costs that this market produces.

On delivery, so you are not comparing the wrong things: IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. Home visiting is a service we run only in India. For an Al Rashidiya family we match a specialist to the exact course and level and teach one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with a free trial lesson before anything is charged. Our own figure is agreed at the consultation, because a first-year weekly slot and an eight-week pre-session block are not the same product and one number would mislead most readers.

One structural point before the detail, because it governs everything that follows. The Diploma total is six subject grades out of 7 plus up to three points from the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay matrix, and a point counts the same wherever it comes from. That single fact is why a cost-led approach outperforms a worry-led one: the point a family can buy most cheaply is frequently not in the subject keeping them awake.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Diploma spend behaves very differently across the two years and the preceding ones. Planning it as a whole is what keeps the total down.

DP1Ages 16-17 · Year 12

Diploma, first year

Six subjects begin, three at Higher Level, with Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay process starting alongside. Internal assessment questions are chosen in this year in most subjects. Nothing is examined externally, which is why families postpone spending and why that postponement is expensive.

The cheapest and most effective year in which to buy support, and the least popular. Work done here is foundational and transfers to both years. An Al Rashidiya family who buys one bounded block in the first year typically spends less across the Diploma than one who buys nothing until the second.

DP2Ages 17-19 · Year 13

Diploma, second year

Internal assessments are completed and submitted, mock examinations run, and the written papers arrive at the end. The available work narrows to technique, triage and submission deadlines. Published monthly estimates for specialist exam-year support run roughly AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for a weekly hour.

Where most demand arrives and where the cost per point recovered is highest. Bought as a bounded block against a stated target it is good value; bought as three open-ended weekly slots in the spring it is the most expensive configuration available in this market.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria each, marked out of 8 and converted to a 1-7 grade. No terminal examination unless the school uses eAssessment. Rates sit at the lower end of the published bands because the specialism required is less than for Diploma assessment work.

Spending here is unglamorous and cheap, and it removes problems before they become Diploma problems. Teaching a student to read a criterion descriptor and write deliberately against it costs very little and pays across five years.

PREAges 15-16 · Year 11

The year before the Diploma

Subject and level choices are made, and in mathematics the route between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation is decided. These decisions shape the entire Diploma and are effectively irreversible after the first year.

The single highest-value hour available to an Al Rashidiya family is a free one: checking the actual entry requirements of the intended universities before the subject choices are locked. We cover it at the consultation, and a family that gets it right rarely needs the expensive second-year rescue.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Cost per point recovered varies by subject. These are the Diploma courses Al Rashidiya families name, with an honest note on how expensive each tends to be to improve.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Good value per hour because the losses are specific and diagnosable: unstated methods, unlabelled sketches, premature rounding. A student losing marks that way is visibly better in six weeks, which makes a bounded block the right purchase.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Similar value, with the recurring loss being a calculator result left without interpretation. Teaching the sentence that must follow every statistical answer is quick work and worth a predictable number of marks.

Physics

HL and SL

Mid to expensive, and the cost depends entirely on diagnosis. Graph meaning and uncertainty work are cheap; rebuilding fields from a weak algebraic base is not. Higher Level also carries a scarcity premium because fewer tutors cover it.

Chemistry

HL and SL

The most expensive Diploma science to repair once organic mechanisms have been learned as memorised sequences, because the unlearning takes longer than the learning. Cheap if the gap is command terms or data handling.

Biology

HL and SL

Often the best value of the three sciences, because the losses are usually command-term precision and reading unfamiliar methods rather than content. Both respond within a handful of sessions.

Economics

HL and SL

Evaluation technique and diagram labelling are quick wins. The portfolio of commentaries is where real money goes if the articles were chosen before the concepts were understood, because the work then has to start again.

Business Management

HL and SL

Mid-range. Tool application to a specific stimulus is teachable in a short block; the Higher Level research project is longer work and should be quoted separately rather than folded into a weekly slot.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Expensive if the student needs to build reading stamina, cheap if the issue is essay structure or the Higher Level essay's four criteria. Diagnose before buying, because the two differ by a factor of several.

Psychology

HL and SL

Carries a scarcity premium in this market because specialists are thin. Essay structure against command terms is efficient work; the experimental study needs attention at the design stage or not at all.

History

HL and SL

Source provenance reasoning is a short, high-yield block. Content recall with figures attached is slow work and is largely the student's own to do, so paying for it by the hour is poor value.

Theory of Knowledge

Core component

Among the cheapest sources of Diploma points, because the essay is judged out of 10 and feeds a matrix worth up to three points. Most students receive no targeted help with it at all.

The Extended Essay

Core component

Marked out of 34 with Critical thinking alone carrying 12. A small number of sessions aimed at that criterion while the essay is still in draft is the best-value core work available on the Diploma.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy Diploma support, priced differently. All run live one-to-one over video, so no part of the figure covers a journey.

Bounded block against a stated target

Our default recommendation and the easiest to budget. A fixed number of sessions, a named capability to be true at the end, and a total known before the first lesson. Ten sessions at the qualified band is roughly AED 1,500 to 3,000, which a household can plan for rather than absorb monthly.

  • Fixed session count and total known upfront
  • One named capability, checkable on marked work
  • Ends with a review rather than a renewal
  • No expiring bundles and no bulk-hour discounts

Weekly slot across a term

Appropriate where a subject needs sustained attention through the first year. One hour a week at the qualified band is roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month on the published estimates, with work set and marked between sessions. Reviewed formally at session six against a target set in advance.

  • Monthly cost known from the published bands
  • Work set and marked between sessions
  • Formal review at session six, not a drift
  • Changed or stopped if the target has not moved

Core-component block: Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge

The least bought and best-value work on the Diploma. A small number of sessions aimed at the Extended Essay's Critical thinking criterion, worth 12 of its 34 marks, and at the Theory of Knowledge essay, judged out of 10. Together they feed a matrix worth up to three Diploma points.

  • Targets the criterion carrying the most marks
  • Points often cheaper than a Higher Level grade
  • Works only while the drafts are still open
  • Nothing written or restructured by the tutor

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Rashidiya

01

The published rates, lowest first, with what each tier contains

Here is the market in order, cheapest to most expensive, with the provider that published each figure and an honest statement of what the money buys. All of it was collected in October 2026 and none of it is ours. We publish it because three of the six strongest competitor pages in this cluster quote no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, which is not a currency a Dubai household transacts in.

The useful way to read this table is from the bottom up, deciding where to stop. For homework supervision and momentum, stop at the first row. For a Middle Years student learning to write against a criterion, the second row is sufficient. For Diploma assessment work, internal assessment coaching or Higher Level technique, you need the third or fourth. The fifth row buys scarcity and a name, and we would not advise a family in Al Rashidiya to start there.

The in-home rows are the comparison most families on this page actually want. Four two-hour visits a month at the published AED 1,599 to 1,799 is eight hours for roughly AED 200 to 225 an hour, against an online package of eight sessions at AED 799, which is roughly AED 100 a session. The gap is not teaching quality. It is a car, a driver's time, and the arrival risk that goes with the airport road at six in the evening.

Our own position sits in the qualified-specialist part of this table. We publish no rate card on these pages because the right figure depends on the subject, the level, whether the work is a weekly slot or a bounded block, and what the marked work says is actually wrong. The trial lesson is free, nothing is charged before it, and the figure is agreed at the consultation with the whole plan attached rather than as a headline.

02

What the travel premium buys from an Al Rashidiya address

Al Rashidiya is better connected than most of the eastern suburbs. It has a metro station on the Red Line, a major bus interchange, and it sits beside Dubai Festival City and the airport roads. In principle that should make in-home tutoring cheap here, and to an extent it does: a tutor based in Festival City or Garhoud faces a short journey and quotes accordingly.

The complication is the hour. The tutoring slot a Diploma family wants is between five and eight in the evening, which is exactly when the airport approaches, Al Rebat Street and the Garhoud crossings are at their worst. A tutor is pricing not the distance but the risk of a twenty-minute delay, and the ones who accept a six o'clock booking in this area are either very local or charging for the uncertainty. Neither of those is a statement about their teaching.

The table sets the two formats against each other on the things that change a grade rather than on atmosphere. Read the row on delivered teaching minutes carefully, because it is the one nobody quantifies: a quarter-hour of arrival slippage on a weekly sixty-minute booking is roughly a quarter of the teaching you paid for, and across thirty weeks that is seven and a half hours, or more than a full term's worth of lessons.

Against that, be fair about what in-home genuinely provides. An adult in the room, which for a child under about eleven or a student with real attention difficulties is a service and not a luxury. No dependence on a household's internet. And no need for a quiet room with a closing door, which not every home can offer. If those apply to your situation, the premium is buying something real and we would say so.

03

The five places Diploma money disappears

  • Buying the worrying subject instead of the cheapest available point
  • Leaving the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge matrix unbought
  • Starting in the second year, at the top of the demand curve
  • Buying hours before a marked script has identified the problem
  • Renewing monthly with no stated target and no review point

None of these is the hourly rate, and together they account for most of the overspending we see in this part of Dubai. First, buying the subject the parent is most worried about rather than the subject where a point is cheapest. The Diploma total is built from six subject grades plus up to three matrix points, and a point is a point. Forcing a Higher Level grade from 5 to 6 is often the most expensive point on the board, while a Standard Level 5 to 6 or a matrix point sits there unbought.

Second, ignoring the core. The Extended Essay is marked out of 34 with Critical thinking worth 12, and the Theory of Knowledge essay is judged out of 10; together they feed a matrix worth up to three points. A handful of sessions aimed at those while the drafts are open is the cheapest point-recovery available on the Diploma, and almost no family buys it.

Third, starting in the second year. By the spring the internal assessments are submitted, the content window has closed, and only technique work remains, at the point in the demand curve where specialist rates and scarcity are highest. The same intervention bought twelve months earlier costs less and has more to work with.

Fourth, buying hours before a diagnosis. The same symptom, a dropping grade, can mean a four-session technique fix or a two-term rebuild, and those differ by an order of magnitude in cost. A marked script tells a specialist which it is in minutes. Fifth, renewing monthly without a review point. An engagement nobody is measuring gets extended out of uncertainty, and at the published monthly estimates of AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support, uncertainty is an expensive habit.

04

A two-year Diploma budget, planned backwards

Families budget tutoring monthly and then discover the Diploma has cost several times what they expected. The alternative is to plan the whole two years once, at the start, with specific purchases attached to specific windows and nothing bought outside them. It is a less comfortable conversation and it reliably produces a lower total.

The table below is that plan, with indicative figures from the published qualified and specialist bands. It assumes one subject at a time and bounded blocks rather than continuous weekly slots, which is the configuration we would recommend to an Al Rashidiya family and the one that costs least per point recovered. A family following it typically spends somewhere between AED 6,000 and AED 14,000 across the full Diploma, against the AED 15,000 to 30,000 that two years of three-subject weekly support would reach.

Note where the money sits. The largest single item is the first-year subject block, because foundational work transfers to both years. The cheapest items with the best return are the mathematics exploration or science investigation question, and the Extended Essay criterion work. The item most families actually buy, an open-ended second-year weekly slot, does not appear at all, because its job is done better and earlier by two of the other rows.

Treat the figures as planning ranges rather than quotes. They are derived from other providers' published rates, collected in October 2026, and our own figure is agreed at the consultation once the subject, level and diagnosis are known. The structure is the point: decide what you will buy and when, before the first panic, and the total stops being a surprise.

Is the tutor legally permitted to teach here, and what does that cost?

  • MoHRE private tuition work permit: free of charge, valid two years
  • Introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • Applied for via the MoHRE app, website or e-services; two working days stated
  • No fine schedule is published, so no amount can be quoted to you
  • A centre with premises needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit instead

A question with a free answer, which is why it belongs on a page about money. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and is granted free of charge for two years. If a tutor tells you the permit costs money, they have not applied for one.

Eligibility is wide: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. The application route is MoHRE's own service, listed as Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, available through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system, with a stated completion time of two working days and no published fee.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are, in the ministry's own words, subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published. Khaleej Times reported that the ministry did not specify the fine amounts or detail the penalties, and a figure circulating online could not be verified, so any provider quoting you a specific dirham penalty is repeating something they cannot evidence.

There is a related distinction worth knowing before you pay anybody. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal entity from an individual tutor: it requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. A tuition centre should be able to evidence that. An individual needs the MoHRE permit. Neither of those is something IB Gram holds or claims, and no tutoring provider should be describing itself as KHDA-approved without showing the permit.

06

The cheapest way to lose everything: paying for assessed work

This belongs on a page about cost because it is marketed on price. One provider found in the research for these pages sells completed Internal Assessments outright, at a published figure. Framed as a purchase it looks efficient: a fixed sum, a finished document, a problem solved. Framed accurately it is the most expensive thing available in this market, because what it risks is the Diploma itself.

Work submitted for IB assessment must be the student's own. Buying it is an academic-honesty breach that triggers malpractice procedures against the student rather than against the seller, and the consequence lands on a seventeen-year-old who may lose the award. There is no refund available for that outcome and no provider offers one.

The legitimate alternative costs far less and is genuinely useful. A tutor may teach the content, explain what a criterion descriptor is asking for, interrogate a research question or an essay's argument, and read the student's own draft and say precisely which descriptor is not yet met. A tutor may not write, draft, restructure or edit to completion any part of the submitted work, supply data, or perform the analysis.

The test after any session is simple and costs nothing to apply: has the document changed, and if so, who typed the changes? If the answer is the tutor, you have bought something you did not want. A good session leaves the student holding three specific problems and the file untouched. We will not produce assessed work at any price, and we state that here rather than in terms and conditions because the families most at risk are the ones under time pressure.

07

IB provision within reach of Al Rashidiya, and what it tells you

Al Rashidiya sits unusually close to Diploma provision by the standards of the eastern suburbs. Dubai Festival City is adjacent and holds two of the nearest IB schools, one of them running the full continuum. Mirdif, a short drive east, adds continuum provision, and Nad Al Sheba is within the realistic school-run radius. For a family weighing the cost of the whole education rather than just the tutoring, that proximity is worth real money in fuel and in time.

The free document nobody reads is the KHDA inspection report. Dubai's private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, described by the UAE government as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate, and it inspects annually on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak, publishing subject-level and phase-level findings. If you are deciding whether a difficulty is a provision issue or an individual one, that report answers the question better than any tutoring consultation.

Context on the market: Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering 17 curricula in 2024-25, with UK provision at 37% of enrolment, Indian at 26%, US at 14% and International Baccalaureate at 7%. Seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three IB, were announced for the 2026-27 intake, creating 16,846 new places, after six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. KHDA also confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not rise for 2026-27 under Dubai's second economic incentives package, valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total.

The budgeting implication of that last point is direct. For a household with two children in private school, a flat fee year genuinely changes what is available for everything else, and it is the right year to plan a two-year Diploma support budget deliberately rather than reactively. The planning is free; only the tutoring costs anything.

08

What to send to get an honest quote first time

Four things, and they are the same four regardless of who you ask. The exact course title and level as the school writes it, because Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level and Applications and Interpretation at Standard Level are different tutors at different rates. The most recent marked script or report. The predicted grades and the university offer if there is one. And the two evening slots that genuinely survive your school run.

With those, any competent provider can tell you whether this is a bounded block or a term's work, which is the difference between roughly AED 1,500 and roughly AED 9,000. Without them, you will be quoted a weekly slot by default, because a weekly slot is the safe thing to sell when nobody knows what is wrong. That default is how families in this area end up spending several times what the problem required.

Ask three questions back. What specifically will my child be able to do after this block that they cannot do now? Is work set between sessions, and is it marked, and is that inside the quoted figure? And what is the cancellation notice in writing? The first tests whether there is a plan, the second tests whether you are buying teaching or company, and the third protects you when a Dubai family inevitably needs to move a session.

And ask one more that most providers dislike: is there a cheaper thing I should buy instead? Sometimes the honest answer is the school's own revision clinic, which is free and aligned to the school's entries. Sometimes it is a conversation with the IB coordinator about whether a Higher Level subject should be stabilised rather than pushed. Sometimes it is nothing at all. A provider who will give one of those answers is more likely to be worth the figure when they do quote one.

Where we tutor

Al Rashidiya and the eastern suburbs: what distance costs

In-home rates include travel, so where a family lives is priced into the quote. These are the communities around Al Rashidiya and what each does to that figure.

Al Rashidiya

Villa district beside the airport and Dubai Festival City, served by Rashidiya metro station and a major bus interchange. Good access in principle, and heavy airport-road traffic in the late afternoon, which is what an in-home quote prices in.

Dubai Festival City

Immediately adjacent and home to the nearest Diploma schools. Tutors based here quote Al Rashidiya families at the lower end of the in-home band simply because the journey is minutes rather than half an hour.

Mirdif

The nearest large villa community with IB continuum provision. Mirdif-based tutors are the most common in-home option for this area and are usually priced mid-band.

Nad Al Hamar

Directly between Al Rashidiya and Mirdif, with short runs in both directions. One of the few parts of the eastern suburbs where either tutoring format works without a travel penalty.

Al Garhoud

Across the airport road with long-established schools. Short journeys and competitive in-home quotes, though the local tutor pool is broad rather than specialist.

Al Warqa

Large residential district south of Mirdif with the lowest local tutoring rates in this cluster, mostly aimed at Indian-curriculum subjects. Good value for foundational work, not for Diploma assessment coaching.

Al Mizhar

Quieter villa district beyond Mirdif. In-home quotes here reflect the drive rather than the teaching, which is the clearest case in this cluster for buying online instead.

Al Khawaneej

Furthest of the eastern suburbs from Diploma provision, and the longest school run. In-home evening quotes from here carry a visible premium for the journey alone.

Dubai Silicon Oasis

Mixed residential and commercial with growing school provision nearby. Journey times are moderate and in-home quotes sit mid-band, but Diploma specialism locally is thin.

Dubai International Academic City

University district rather than a school catchment, which matters here only because it is where some of the cheaper graduate tutoring supply in the eastern suburbs originates.

International City

Dense and price-sensitive, south-east of Al Rashidiya. Families here get most value from the lower and middle online bands and very little from any in-home arrangement.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Rashidiya

Festival City, Garhoud and Rashidiya

Decide what you will buy and in which window before the first panic. A planned Diploma typically costs between roughly AED 4,000 and AED 12,000 across both years against AED 15,000 to 30,000 for continuous three-subject weekly support.

  2. 02

Send the course, the script and the offer

The exact course title and level as the school writes it, the most recent marked script, and the predicted grades with the university offer. Those three turn a default weekly-slot quote into an accurate one.

  3. 03

Buy the diagnosis if the picture is unclear

Three sessions ending in a written view of what is wrong and what it will take, at roughly AED 450 to 900 on the published bands. It is the cheapest money on the page because it stops the rest going to the wrong place.

  4. 04

Buy the cheapest point, not the loudest subject

A point is a point: a Standard Level 5 to 6, or a matrix point from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, usually costs a fraction of forcing a Higher Level grade up. We start from the arithmetic rather than from the worry.

  5. 05

Take the free trial before paying anything

A full one-to-one lesson over live video with nothing charged. Ask what your child will be able to do at the end of the block, whether work between sessions is marked, and what the cancellation notice is in writing.

  6. 06

Review against the target, then decide

At the end of the block, check the named capability on the student's own marked work. Continue, change the tutor, change the diagnosis or stop. Monthly renewal without a review point is the costliest habit in this market.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Figures published, attributed and dated

Every dirham amount on this page names the provider or rate table that published it and the month it was collected. Three of six strongly ranking competitor pages in this cluster publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars.

Blocks, not open-ended months

A fixed session count with a stated target and a known total, rather than a monthly renewal nobody is measuring. We do not sell expiring session bundles or bulk-hour discounts, because both make leaving a bad match expensive.

The arithmetic before the subject

Six subject grades plus up to three matrix points make the Diploma total, and a point costs very different amounts depending on where it comes from. We start from the predicted grades and the offer, which often points somewhere the family was not looking.

Travel is not inside the figure

The published in-home band of AED 180 to 500 includes a drive, and from Al Rashidiya at six in the evening that drive crosses the airport approaches. Online delivery means the whole figure buys teaching and the full hour is delivered.

The permit question answered for free

The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free of charge and valid two years under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. No fine schedule is published, so nobody can quote you a penalty figure, and no provider should call itself KHDA-approved without the permit to show.

We will name the cheaper option

The school's own revision clinic is free and aligned to its entries. A conversation with the IB coordinator costs nothing. Sometimes the right recommendation is one of those, and we would rather give it and lose the booking than sell a block that was never needed.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Rashidiya: your questions answered

What should an IB home tutor cost around Al Rashidiya?+

Published Dubai rates for in-home one-to-one visits run roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included, where Bestimate's 2026 table gives 180 to 350 and independent home tutors advertise 200 to 500. Monthly in-home packages of four two-hour visits have been published at AED 1,599 to 1,799, which is roughly AED 200 to 225 per teaching hour. Qualified tutors working online sit lower, roughly AED 150 to 300, with one Dubai agency publishing IB from AED 200. Those are other providers' figures, collected October 2026, not ours.

Why does the Dubai tutoring market have a twenty-fold price range?+

Because the tiers contain genuinely different things. At roughly AED 33 to 65 an hour you are buying subject knowledge and homework momentum from a student or recent graduate, with no assessment literacy expected. At AED 150 to 300 you are buying a trained teacher who knows the syllabus and its papers. At AED 200 to 450 and above you are buying single-subject depth and internal assessment expertise. Above AED 500 you are buying scarcity and brand. The step that reliably changes a Diploma lesson is from the first tier to the second.

How much should a whole IB Diploma cost in tutoring?+

Planned properly, somewhere between roughly AED 4,000 and AED 12,000 across both years, using the published qualified and specialist bands. That assumes bounded blocks: a first-year subject block, a few sessions on the internal assessment question, a few on the Extended Essay's Critical thinking criterion, a mock diagnostic, and a second-year technique block only if the mocks justify it. Bought instead as three open-ended weekly slots across two years, the same support reaches AED 15,000 to 30,000, which is where most unplanned Diploma spending ends up.

Which Diploma points are cheapest to buy help for?+

Usually the matrix points and a Standard Level grade. Six subject grades reach 42 and the final three come from a matrix combining the Theory of Knowledge grade with the Extended Essay grade. The Extended Essay is marked out of 34 with Critical thinking alone carrying 12, and the Theory of Knowledge essay is judged out of 10, so a handful of sessions while those drafts are open can move the total. Forcing a Higher Level grade from 5 to 6 is generally the most expensive point on the board.

Is it worth paying more for an examiner-branded tutor?+

We would not advise starting there. One provider publishes AED 650 an hour for examiner-branded provision, which is roughly twice the specialist band and more than ten times the budget tier. What it reliably buys is scarcity and a name. We also will not describe any tutor as a current IB or Cambridge examiner unless that status can be evidenced, and no provider should be implying examiner status gives access to marking, boundaries or paper content. Ask what specifically changes in the lesson at that price.

Does a tutor in Dubai need a licence, and does it cost anything?+

They need the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through MoHRE's smart app, website or e-services with a stated two-working-day completion. If a tutor tells you the permit has a fee, they have not applied for one. No fine schedule is published, so treat specific penalty figures online as unverified.

Why are monthly in-home packages so much more expensive?+

Because they include a car. Four two-hour in-home visits a month at the published AED 1,599 to 1,799 works out around AED 200 to 225 per teaching hour, against an online package of eight sessions published at AED 799, roughly AED 100 a session. The difference is the journey, the driver's time and the risk of arriving late. From Al Rashidiya at six in the evening that journey crosses the airport approaches, which is precisely why the quote carries a premium rather than a discount for a short distance.

How much teaching time does a late tutor actually cost us?+

More than families estimate. A quarter of an hour of arrival slippage on a weekly sixty-minute booking is a quarter of the lesson, and across a thirty-week school year that is seven and a half hours, which is more than a full term's worth of sessions. It is also not refunded, because the tutor was present for the booking. An online session starts when the clock says so, which is the least glamorous and most measurable argument on this page for the format we actually sell.

Should we buy a block of twenty hours for the discount?+

Not before you know the match works. Bulk hours at a reduced rate are a saving only if all of them are the right hours, and they make leaving expensive, so families persist with a tutor they would otherwise have changed in week two. That is the most costly outcome in this market. Take the free trial, buy a small bounded block with a stated target, review it on marked work, and only then commit further if you want to. We do not sell bulk discounts for exactly this reason.

Is buying a finished Internal Assessment ever worth the money?+

No, and it is the most expensive purchase available in this market however low the price looks. Work submitted for IB assessment must be the student's own, and buying it triggers malpractice procedures against the student rather than the seller, with the award itself at risk. One provider found in the research for these pages sells completed Internal Assessments at a published figure. No refund exists for the outcome. The legitimate version, a tutor questioning a research design and naming the descriptor a draft does not meet, costs far less and is genuinely useful.

When is the cheapest time to start Diploma support?+

Before it starts, with a free conversation about subject and level choices and the mathematics route, because those decisions are effectively irreversible after the first year and getting them wrong is the most expensive mistake on the whole Diploma. After that, the first-year autumn, where foundational work transfers to both years. The most expensive window is the spring of the second year, when internal assessments are submitted, only technique work remains, and specialist rates and scarcity are both at their peak.

What should we ask before paying a Dubai tutor anything?+

Four things in writing. What specifically will my child be able to do at the end of this block that they cannot do now. Is work set between sessions, is it marked, and is that inside the quoted figure. What is the cancellation notice period, because a Dubai family will need to move sessions. And does the figure include VAT, which you are entitled to ask and nobody should be vague about. A provider who answers all four plainly is more likely to be worth the rate.

Does the Dubai fee freeze affect what we can spend on tutoring?+

It changes what is available rather than what is wise. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year under Dubai's second economic incentives package, valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a household with two children in private school that is genuine capacity. The sensible use of it is a planned two-year Diploma support budget with specific purchases in specific windows, rather than a larger monthly commitment nobody is measuring.

Would you ever tell us to spend nothing?+

Yes, and the three-session diagnostic exists partly so that it can end that way. If the school runs its own revision clinic in the subject, it is free and aligned to the school's own entries, and competing with it wastes your money. If a Higher Level subject should be stabilised rather than pushed while points are recovered elsewhere, that is a conversation with the IB coordinator and it costs nothing. And no tutoring is required for a university application or for Ministry of Education equivalency, whatever any provider implies.

Plan the total, then buy one block

The families in Al Rashidiya who spend least across a Diploma are the ones who decided at the start what they would buy and when. One free conversation about subjects and levels, one bounded block in the first year, a few sessions on the internal assessment question and the Extended Essay, a diagnostic on the mocks, and a second-year technique block only if the scripts justify it. Send us the course and level, the most recent marked script and the predicted grades, and we will tell you which of those your child actually needs and what it costs. A free trial lesson comes first, and nothing is charged before it.
