IB & IGCSE in Emaar South

The number three of six ranking pages refuse to print

Of the most visible providers competing for IGCSE tutoring searches in Dubai, three publish no price at all. One has a frequently asked question titled how much does tutoring cost and declines to answer it. Two more quote in US dollars, which is not a currency an Emaar South household transacts in. A parent trying to work out what this should cost is therefore guessing, and guessing in a market where the published range runs from AED 33 to AED 650 an hour is an expensive position to be in.

So this page prints the numbers. Every band below is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, with the format stated. None of them is an IB Gram price: our own commercial conversation starts with a free trial lesson and a written diagnosis, not a rate card. What the bands do is let a family in Emaar South see the shape of the market before they ring anybody, which is the position every other page in this cluster leaves them out of.

The second thing this page does is explain what each band buys, because the price ladder does not track quality in any measurable sense. It tracks two things: who is doing the teaching, and whether somebody is driving. An AED 50 hour and an AED 220 hour differ in the first. An AED 220 online hour and an AED 320 in-home hour differ mostly in the second. A parent should know which of those two differences they are paying for, and most rate cards are designed to obscure exactly that.

The third is where the money goes to waste, and this is the part that matters most in Emaar South specifically. Families here are buying tutoring for a Year 10 or Year 11 student with a long daily school journey, often for two or three subjects at once, from a community at the southern edge of the emirate. There are five reliable ways to waste that budget and all five are avoidable with information that costs nothing to obtain.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. Home visits are a service we run in India only. Emaar South students are taught live one-to-one over video on Gulf Standard Time, which among other things means the travel premium in those published in-home bands is not part of what you pay. We say this plainly rather than leaving it to be discovered, because the honest version of a cost page has to include what is not on offer.

One factual note on the regulatory side. KHDA oversees the quality of private education in Dubai, inspects schools annually, publishes the ratings, and confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for Dubai private schools for the 2026-27 academic year under the emirate's second economic incentives package. KHDA does not accredit private tutors, and IB Gram holds no KHDA permit, approval or partnership and runs no UAE centre. Individual tutors need the MoHRE private tuition work permit, granted free of charge for two years.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Emaar South households are mostly buying support at one of three stages, and each costs differently because each needs a different amount of it.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Key Stage 3

No external examination, so no urgency, and that is precisely why this is the cheapest stage at which to fix something. A gap in algebraic fluency or structured writing addressed in Year 8 costs a term of weekly sessions. The same gap addressed in Year 11 costs an intensive block at a specialist rate and still leaves the student behind on the content arriving at the same time.

Emaar South's age profile skews young because the community is newer, which means a lot of households here are at exactly the stage where the cheap intervention is available. Very few take it, because nothing is visibly wrong yet. The honest observation is that Key Stage 3 money is the best-value tutoring spend in this market and almost nobody spends it.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE

Two years, eight to ten subjects, externally examined, with a tier decision that caps the achievable grade. This is where most of the money in this market is spent and where most of the waste happens, because families buy hours in several subjects at once without a diagnosis in any of them.

An Emaar South IGCSE candidate is usually sitting the June series with a long daily commute, which limits how many weekly sessions a plan can realistically hold. That constraint is useful: it forces the question of which subjects actually repay tutoring rather than allowing three parallel arrangements that each get a third of the attention.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

The IB alternative for the same age band, marked against four criteria per subject from A to D and converted to a 1-7 grade. It changes the spending logic completely, because the cheapest useful block is a short one teaching the criteria explicitly, which pays into every subject at once rather than one.

Several schools Emaar South families travel to run the Middle Years Programme rather than IGCSE, so two neighbouring households can be buying very different things. A family comparing what a neighbour pays should first check whether the neighbour's child is even in the same system, because the sensible spend differs substantially.

Post-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

A Level and IB Diploma

Where the IGCSE route leads, and worth knowing about when budgeting, because tier and award decisions made at sixteen can close options that later cost more to reopen. A student who needs a November resit to satisfy a sixth-form requirement is paying twice for one grade.

Post-16 support costs more per hour in the published bands, with Bestimate putting specialist examination-year support at AED 1,000-2,000 or more a month. For an Emaar South family budgeting across both stages, the implication is that money spent correctly at IGCSE reduces what has to be spent later rather than being a separate cost.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE subjects Emaar South families most often buy support in, with an honest note on how much tutoring each one repays.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580)

Core and Extended

The subject that repays tutoring most reliably, because the weaknesses are specific and diagnosable and the gains show on past papers quickly. Algebraic fluency, ratio and the diagram topics are all improvable in a term. The tier decision is what caps the return, so settle that first.

Mathematics A (Pearson 4MA1)

Foundation and Higher

Same reasoning as Cambridge with one caveat: the question style is heavier on multi-step contextual problems, so a tutor working from Cambridge past papers is teaching correct mathematics towards a paper the student will not sit. Paying a specialist rate for the wrong board is the purest waste available.

Physics (Cambridge 0625)

Core and Extended

Repays tutoring well, and most of the cheap gains are in Paper 6, the alternative to practical, which carries real marks and is almost never drilled. A short technique block is better value here than a term of content sessions for a student who already understands the physics.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620)

Core and Extended

Mole calculations and qualitative analysis are procedural, which makes them cheap to fix in a compressed block. Ionic equations unbalanced for charge score nothing and the check takes seconds. Good value per hour provided the diagnosis comes first.

Biology (Cambridge 0610)

Core and Extended

The recall volume means much of the work is note compression, which a student can do alone once shown how. That makes Biology one of the subjects where a short block teaching method, followed by independent work, beats a standing weekly session on value.

English Language (Cambridge 0500)

Core and Extended

Directed writing and the summary question are marked on structure, which is teachable and improves quickly. Where money is wasted here is general reading practice, which feels productive and moves nothing. Target the components, not the subject.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

Single tier

Case-study based with marks for applying a concept to the named business rather than defining it. Analysis and evaluation command words carry the highest tariff and are reliably where candidates stop short. A short block on those two verbs outperforms broad content coverage.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

Single tier

Diagrams are marked, and an unlabelled axis loses the mark whatever the prose says. Diagram drill and elasticity calculation are short, cheap and high-yield. Reading more of the textbook is neither.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

Single tier

Pseudocode conventions and trace tables are both procedural and both under-practised, which makes a short block excellent value. The specialist pool is thinner than for the sciences, so booking early matters more than price shopping does here.

Combined and Co-ordinated Science

Double and single award

Worth checking before paying for anything, because past papers from the separate sciences are not usable for a combined candidate. A tutor given the wrong route sets content that is not on the syllabus, which is a full term of fees for no gain.

Arabic as a Second Language (Cambridge 0544)

Single tier

Mandatory alongside the curriculum in Dubai private schools under KHDA rules, and frequently the grade a family is most worried about. The writing component responds fast to a small bank of drilled structures, making it unusually good value per session.

Additional Mathematics (Cambridge 0606)

Single tier

An extra syllabus some schools offer, covering calculus and further trigonometry beyond 0580. It needs its own slot rather than being folded into a maths hour, which means it is an additional cost rather than a free extension of one, and worth budgeting for separately.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Four formats with different cost profiles, so a family can match the spend to the problem rather than buying open-ended hours. All are live one-to-one video; none includes travel to a UAE address.

A diagnostic block of four sessions

The cheapest useful purchase in this market and the one almost nobody makes. Four sessions that establish, from marked scripts, exactly what is costing marks in a subject, ending in a written priority list. A family can then decide whether to continue, and many need far less than they assumed.

  • Four sessions, a defined end point, a written output
  • Built on the student's own marked scripts
  • Separates content gaps from technique faults
  • Leaves the family with a usable plan either way

Technique blocks that pay into several subjects

Command-word discipline, graph technique, significant figures and answer-length matching appear across every science and maths subject at once. Four to six sessions treating them once is cheaper than addressing the symptoms separately in three subjects, and that arithmetic is rarely put to a parent.

  • One block, several subjects improved
  • Procedural work that survives a tired evening slot
  • Past-paper evidence of the gain within a fortnight
  • A one-page reference the student keeps

The eight-week pre-series block

Sixteen sessions after a mock, two a week, with the content set by the mock script rather than by the syllabus. The honest unit to compare across providers, because an hourly rate tells a family nothing about what a plan actually costs end to end.

  • Sixteen sessions, four fortnights, a checkpoint in each
  • Week one diagnoses and teaches nothing
  • No new content in the final fortnight
  • The fortnight repeats if a checkpoint fails

Standing weekly tuition where it is justified

Worth buying where a genuine content gap needs a term to close, which is most often mathematics in Year 10. Not worth buying where the content is sound and the marks are being lost to technique, which is the situation in which most standing arrangements are actually sold.

  • Term-length, one subject, a fixed weekly slot
  • Reviewed at half term against the mock date
  • Past papers from the confirmed board and tier
  • Stopped when the diagnosis says it is done

The published Dubai bands, by provider model

  • Every figure above is published by the provider named, not estimated
  • Bestimate monthly estimates: AED 240-600 budget, 600-1,200 mid, 1,000-2,000+ specialist
  • Published packages: AED 799 online for eight sessions, AED 1,599-1,799 in-home for four
  • No IB Gram rate appears here; the trial lesson comes before any quote

Here is the market, with sources. At the budget end, Tutopiya advertises from AED 33-52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45-65, both online and typically delivered by university students or non-specialist tutors. In the middle, Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 an hour and IB from AED 200 for qualified subject tutors online. TutorChase, a UK agency serving the Gulf, quotes AED 270.

In-home provision sits apart from that ladder rather than above it. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350, and independent home tutors are quoted up to AED 500 once travel is priced into the hour. At the top, BartyED quotes AED 650 for premium named tutors. Bestimate also places IB, IGCSE and A Level specialists at AED 200-450 or more, which overlaps the agency and premium bands.

Monthly, Bestimate's estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240-600 for budget provision, AED 600-1,200 for mid-market and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. Published packages in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four in-home sessions of two hours. That last pair is the single most informative comparison available: double the money for half the sessions.

The table collects all of it in one place. Read it as the market rather than as a recommendation, and note what it does not contain: an IB Gram price. We do not publish one on this page because our conversation starts with a free trial lesson and a written diagnosis, and because a rate quoted before anybody has looked at a marked script is a number without a question attached to it.

What each band actually buys

The ladder is not a quality scale and treating it as one leads families to overspend at the top and waste money at the bottom. It is two separate variables stacked on top of each other: who is doing the teaching, and whether somebody is driving. Separating them is the single most useful thing a parent can do before making any call.

At the budget end, AED 33-65 an hour buys supervised homework. A university student can keep a Year 10 student working, answer direct questions and check arithmetic. What they cannot usually do is look at a marked 0625 Paper 6 script and identify that the results table headings are losing marks, or that the suggested improvements are addressing the wrong error. That is a specialist diagnosis and it is not in this band, which does not make the band useless. It makes it the wrong purchase for a diagnostic problem.

At AED 150-300 online, a family is buying a trained subject teacher who knows the syllabus, the tier and the mark scheme. This is where the diagnostic capability sits. At AED 180-500 in-home, a family is buying roughly the same teaching plus a car journey, and the difference between the two bands is mostly that journey. At AED 500-650, a family is buying a named individual with a published profile, which is a reputational purchase rather than a measurably different lesson.

The practical consequence for an Emaar South household is to decide which problem is being solved before choosing a band. A student who will not sit down without supervision has a budget-band problem. A student who understands the content and keeps underscoring has a specialist-band problem, and buying budget hours for it is the most expensive thing in this market, because it costs money and a term and ends with the same script.

03

The five places this money gets wasted

  • Buying hours before a marked script has been read
  • Paying a specialist rate for past papers from the wrong board or route
  • Paying the travel premium for a lesson made of two documents
  • Running three subjects in parallel at a third of the attention each
  • Continuing a standing arrangement after the diagnosis is closed

First, and most expensively, buying hours without a diagnosis. A family worried about a grade books a standing weekly session, the tutor arrives with no marked script and starts at the beginning of the syllabus, and six weeks later something feels better and nothing has changed. The fix costs nothing: send a marked mock and ask what the first session will target. If the answer is a topic rather than a component, the diagnosis has not happened.

Second, paying a specialist rate for the wrong board. Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are separate syllabuses with different paper structures; so are 0625 and 4PH1. A tutor given the wrong one teaches correct material towards a paper the student will not sit. Checking the syllabus code on the timetable takes under a minute and prevents a full term of unusable past papers at full price. The same applies to the separate-sciences and combined-science routes.

Third, paying the travel premium for a lesson made of documents. The working material for a Year 11 candidate is a marked script and a mark scheme, both of which read better shared on a screen than passed across a table, and the in-home premium from an Emaar South address sits at the upper end of the published band because the journey is long. For a seven year old who will not sit at a screen, that premium buys something real. For a Year 11 candidate it buys a car.

Fourth, three parallel subjects at a third of the attention each. A household with a long school run cannot sustain three weekly sessions plus the independent practice that makes them work, and the plan collapses around half term having spent three subjects' worth of fees. Sequencing one subject at a time, preceded by a technique block that pays into all three, costs less and produces more. Fifth, continuing a standing arrangement past the point where the diagnosis says it is done, which is a quiet and very common way to spend several thousand dirhams on reassurance.

Tutoring in the context of the whole education bill

Tutoring is rarely the largest line in a Dubai family's education budget and it is often the only one treated as discretionary. Setting it next to the other costs makes the decisions clearer. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. That freeze is the anchor: school fees are flat for the year, which means tutoring is the variable part of the bill.

The wider market context is worth knowing too. Dubai's private school sector served 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 different curricula, with the UK curriculum the largest by enrolment, followed by Indian, US and International Baccalaureate provision, according to the Dubai Media Office summary of the sector published in January 2025. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%.

For a family in Emaar South the practical reading is that supply is growing and fees are held, which makes the question of how much tutoring to buy a genuine choice rather than a forced one. It also means a school with a weak KHDA inspection rating is not the only option in the way it might have been a few years ago, and a family currently buying heavy tutoring to compensate for a teaching problem has an alternative worth at least considering.

The table puts the pieces side by side. The intention is not to make tutoring look cheap; it is to make the comparison possible. A parent who knows that specialist examination-year support runs at AED 1,000-2,000 or more a month on Bestimate's estimates, against a school fee that is held flat for the year, is in a position to decide how many months of it are actually needed rather than committing to two years by default.

Which IGCSE subjects actually repay tutoring

Not every subject returns the same value per hour, and a family with a fixed budget should know which ones do. The reliable rule is that subjects whose losses are procedural repay tutoring quickly, and subjects whose losses are about reading volume or practice time repay it slowly, because the student can do most of that work alone once shown how.

Mathematics repays best. The weaknesses are specific, diagnosable from a script and improvable within a term, and the gains show on past papers fast enough to keep a student engaged. Physics repays well, and much of the cheap gain sits in Paper 6, the alternative to practical, which carries real marks and is essentially never drilled. Chemistry repays well on the procedural topics: mole calculations, qualitative analysis, balancing.

Biology repays more slowly, because the dominant task is compressing a large body of recall into usable notes, and that is work a student does alone. The high-value purchase here is a short block teaching the method, not a standing weekly session. English Language sits in between: the components are teachable and improve fast, while general reading practice feels productive and moves nothing. Target the directed writing and the summary question specifically.

Economics and Business Studies both repay a narrow block aimed at the high-tariff command words and the diagram or calculation work, and repay broad content coverage poorly. Computer Science repays a short procedural block on pseudocode and trace tables. Arabic as a Second Language repays unusually well at the writing component, because a small bank of accurately drilled structures moves the mark quickly. The table sets it out so a budget can be allocated rather than spread.

What to ask before any money changes hands

A short list of questions separates a provider who will help from one who will bill. None of them is awkward and all of them have definite answers, which is itself diagnostic: a provider who cannot answer them in a sentence each is not organised around the student's outcome.

Ask which syllabus code the tutor has taught and at which tier, not whether they teach the subject. Ask what the first session will target, and treat a topic as the wrong answer and a component as the right one. Ask whether the quoted rate includes VAT, because that should be stated clearly rather than discovered later. Ask what happens if the match is wrong in week two, and whether a replacement costs anything. Ask what you receive in writing after each session.

Then ask the practical ones. Is the price per hour or per lesson, and what is the lesson length. What is the cancellation window and what happens if a session is missed on either side. Is there a minimum commitment and, if so, how long. Does the rate change closer to examinations, which some providers do. Does a package expire. For an Emaar South household there is one more: what time slots are actually available, because a provider with nothing after 17:00 cannot serve a community with this school run.

On the regulatory side, ask whether the tutor holds the MoHRE private tuition work permit. Individuals providing private lessons in the UAE need it under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and it is granted free of charge for two years, so there is no reason for a legitimate tutor not to hold one. It is a legal licence rather than a quality credential, and anybody claiming to be a KHDA-approved tutor is misdescribing the regulator: KHDA oversees schools and issues Educational Services Permits to training institutes with premises.

Group tuition, siblings and the shared-cost options

  • Group tuition covers content well and cannot diagnose an individual fault
  • Buy group hours for a coverage problem, not for a technique problem
  • Siblings need separate sessions, placed back to back in one evening
  • One child with two subjects should sequence rather than parallelise
  • A technique block first pays into every subject that follows

Group tuition is cheaper per student and it is a genuinely different product rather than a discounted version of the same one. In a group of two to four, a tutor cannot run a diagnosis from each student's marked script and aim the hour at one person's specific faults. What a group does well is cover content, maintain pace and provide structured practice, which suits a student who is behind on coverage rather than one losing marks to technique.

The honest guidance is therefore to match the format to the problem. A student who has not covered half the syllabus benefits from a group that moves through it. A student who understands the content and keeps scoring below expectation does not, because their problem is individual and invisible in a group setting. Buying group hours for a diagnostic problem saves money per hour and wastes the whole spend.

Siblings are a different case. Two children in the same household rarely need the same tutor, because a Year 8 and a Year 11 candidate are at different points of different syllabuses. What helps is scheduling rather than sharing: two consecutive one-to-one sessions in one evening is ordinary online and impossible for a visiting tutor, who can be in one place at one time. For an Emaar South household with two different school arrival times, that is the difference between one committed evening and two.

One child with two subjects is the most common shared-cost question we get from this community, and the answer is usually to sequence rather than parallelise. Four to six weeks on the weaker subject, then four to six on the other, preceded by a technique block that pays into both, costs less than two standing weekly arrangements and produces a clearer diagnosis in each. That is a cheaper plan that works better, which is an unusual combination and worth taking when it appears.

What the free trial lesson should produce

  • The test of a trial is whether you get something in writing you could hand on
  • Taught by the tutor who would take the block, not a coordinator
  • Free with no card and no condition attached to the word
  • Sometimes the honest answer is four sessions rather than a term
  • Book the trial into the slot you would actually use for the term

A trial lesson that is really a sales call is worse than no trial lesson, because it costs an hour of a student's evening and produces nothing to act on. The test of a genuine one is whether you receive something in writing afterwards that you could hand to a different tutor and have it be useful. If the output is enthusiasm, the trial was a pitch.

What ours produces is a written diagnosis: which component is losing marks, whether the losses are content or technique, what the first four sessions would target and in what order, and an honest view on how much support the student actually needs. Sometimes that answer is four sessions rather than a term, and saying so costs us money and is the correct answer. Sixteen of the published FAQ pages in this market do not mention what a trial produces at all.

The trial is taught by the tutor who would take the block, not by a coordinator, because a trial with somebody else tells you nothing about the match. It is free, it requires no card, and there is no condition attached to it: the word free is used here with nothing hidden behind it, which is worth stating because the alternative practice exists. If the match is wrong, we rematch rather than asking you to persist with it.

For an Emaar South family there is a scheduling point worth making. Book the trial into a slot you would actually use for the term, not an early one that happens to be free, because part of what the trial tests is whether that time of day works for your child after the journey. A trial at 16:15 that goes well and a term at 16:15 that does not is a bad test, and in this community it is the commonest one.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Emaar South

Emaar South and the surrounding communities, noted here by what the location does to the cost of tutoring rather than by amenities.

Emaar South

Villas and townhouses across Golf Links, Urbana, Expo Golf Villas, Parkside and Greenview. No school inside the community, so an in-home tutor is absorbing a twenty-five to forty-five minute journey each way, which is priced into the hour at the upper end of the published in-home bands.

Dubai South Residential District

The apartments and townhouses immediately north, including The Pulse. Marginally shorter journeys for a visiting tutor, which in practice means the same published band rather than a cheaper one, because providers quote by area rather than by kilometre.

Dubai Investments Park

The school cluster most Emaar South households travel to. Relevant to cost because a tutor already working in that cluster has the shortest possible extension to reach Emaar South, and is the type of in-home provider most likely to quote at the lower end.

Al Furjan

North on the Sheikh Zayed side with its own schools and a metro station. A denser tutoring market than Dubai South, which means more in-home options and more competition on price, and it is the comparison Emaar South families most often make.

Jebel Ali

The established zone to the west with long-standing British and Indian-curriculum schools. Older tutoring supply and a wider spread of published rates, from informal arrangements at the budget end to agency provision at the top.

Discovery Gardens

High-density apartments with the most cost-conscious parent population in this group. Group tuition and shared arrangements are more common here, which is a genuinely different value proposition rather than simply a cheaper one.

Green Community

Low-rise housing inside Dubai Investments Park, minutes from the schools. The lowest travel premium in this set for an in-home tutor, which is the clearest illustration that in-home pricing is a geography function.

Dubailand and the southern corridor

The eastward school destination for some Emaar South families. For an in-home tutor based there, reaching Emaar South is the longest journey in this set and the premium is correspondingly at the top of the published range.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Emaar South

Dubai Investments Park and Green Community

The nearest school cluster to Emaar South and the one most households travel to. Mentioned here because school fees are the other half of a family's education budget, and KHDA publishes both the inspection ratings and the fee framework for every school in it.

  • Greenfield International School
  • Dove Green Private School
  • Nibras International School
  • The International School of Choueifat Dubai Investments Park
  • Bright Learners Private School

Al Furjan, Jebel Ali and Discovery Gardens

The British-curriculum arc supplying most IGCSE candidates from this community. Boards and entry routes differ between these schools, which matters for cost because the wrong board means a term of unusable past papers at full price.

  • The Arbor School
  • Safa Community School
  • The Winchester School Jebel Ali
  • Delhi Private School Dubai
  • The Gardens School

Dubailand and the southern corridor

The longest journey Emaar South families make for school, and therefore the cluster where mock windows and term dates most often differ from the Investments Park pattern, which affects when a paid block should be placed.

  • South View School
  • Fairgreen International School
  • Jebel Ali School
  • The Aquila School
  • GEMS Metropole School

Schools are named as context for the school ecosystem Emaar South families travel to; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Confirm the board, the code, the tier and the route

0580 or 4MA1, 0625 or 4PH1, Core or Extended, separate sciences or combined. All four are on the timetable and all four determine which past papers are usable. Paying a specialist rate for the wrong ones is the purest waste available in this market and it costs nothing to prevent.

  2. 02

Send a marked script before asking for a price

A rate quoted before anyone has seen a script is a number with no question attached. The script shows whether the problem is content, technique, pacing or board mismatch, and those four need very different amounts of support. It is also the fastest way to find out that less is needed than feared.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson with the matched tutor

One full session at no charge, no card and no condition, taught by the person who would take the block. The output is a written diagnosis and a proposal for the first four sessions. Book it into a slot you would genuinely use during term, because the time of day is part of what is being tested.

  4. 04

Buy a defined block, not open-ended hours

Four diagnostic sessions, or a technique block, or the sixteen-session eight-week plan. A block has an end point and a written output, which forces the question of whether it worked. Open-ended weekly hours do not, which is why they continue past the point where the diagnosis is closed.

  5. 05

Ask the seven questions before paying

Syllabus code taught, what session one targets, VAT, rematch policy, what you get in writing, the MoHRE permit, and which slots are available after 17:00. Each has a definite answer in one sentence, and a provider who cannot give them is not organised around the outcome you are buying.

  6. 06

Review at the end of the block and stop if it is done

The point of a defined block is that it ends. Compare the checkpoint evidence against the original diagnosis and decide deliberately whether to continue. Continuing by default past a closed diagnosis is how several thousand dirhams get spent on reassurance rather than on marks.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Every AED figure here carries its source

Three of the six most visible providers in this market publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars, which no Emaar South household transacts in. Every band on this page names the provider or rate table that published it, so a parent can check it. A number that cannot be checked is not worth printing.

A diagnosis before a quote, not after

A rate offered before anybody has read a marked script is a number with no question attached to it. The free trial lesson exists so that the diagnosis comes first, and it returns a written output you could hand to a different tutor. Sometimes the honest answer is four sessions rather than a term.

Blocks with an end point and a written output

Four diagnostic sessions, a technique block, or sixteen sessions across eight weeks. A defined block forces the question of whether it worked and makes stopping a decision rather than an oversight. Open-ended weekly hours continue past a closed diagnosis, which is the quietest waste in this market.

No travel premium, because nobody travels

Bestimate puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 and independent home tutors up to AED 500 once travel is in the hour, against AED 150-300 online. From an Emaar South address that premium sits at the upper end because the journey is long. Home visits are an India-only service, so none of it is in what you pay here.

Sequencing instead of three parallel subjects

A household with a long school run cannot sustain three weekly sessions plus the practice that makes them work. One subject at a time, preceded by a technique block that pays into all of them, costs less than three parallel arrangements and produces a clearer diagnosis in each. Cheaper and better is rare; take it.

No regulator claims and no UAE centre

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, Cambridge or Pearson approval, accreditation or partnership and operates no office or centre in the UAE. The MoHRE private tuition work permit is the real credential for an individual tutor, it is free, and a provider claiming KHDA approval is misdescribing the regulator.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Emaar South: your questions answered

How much does an IGCSE home tutor cost in Emaar South?+

The published Dubai bands put in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 an hour on Bestimate's 2026 rate table, with independent home tutors quoted up to AED 500 once travel is priced into the hour. From a community at the southern edge of the emirate the premium sits at the upper end, because the journey is long. Qualified subject tutors online are AED 150-300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. Those are market figures from the providers named. IB Gram delivers online only and does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE.

Why can I not find an IGCSE tutoring price anywhere in Dubai?+

Three of the six most visible providers competing for these searches publish no price at all, and one even includes a frequently asked question about cost and then declines to answer it. Two more quote in US dollars rather than dirhams. The commercial logic is that a number invites comparison and a conversation does not. The practical effect is that a parent trying to budget is guessing across a published range that runs from AED 33 to AED 650 an hour, which is an expensive position to be in.

Is a cheap online tutor ever the right choice?+

Yes, for a specific problem. At AED 33-65 an hour, which is what Tutopiya and EdFlik advertise, a family is buying supervised work: somebody who keeps a student at the desk, answers direct questions and checks arithmetic. For a student who will not sit down without company that is the correct purchase and the specialist bands are a waste. What that band generally cannot do is read a marked Paper 6 script and identify that the results table headings are losing marks, which is a different problem entirely.

What is the single most expensive mistake in this market?+

Buying budget hours for a diagnostic problem. A student who understands the content and keeps scoring below expectation is losing marks to something specific: command words, units, pacing, a results table convention. A non-specialist will re-explain the content, which the student already has, and the next script will look the same. The family has then spent a term and a few thousand dirhams and still does not know what the problem is. The cheap hour was the expensive one.

Does paying more for a named tutor get a better lesson?+

It buys a reputational guarantee rather than a measurably different hour. BartyED quotes AED 650 for premium named tutors and TutorChase quotes AED 270, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor online. What the premium reliably provides is a published profile and the confidence that comes with it. What it does not reliably provide is a better diagnosis than a board-experienced subject teacher at AED 200 would give, because the diagnostic work is reading a script against a mark scheme.

How many subjects should an Emaar South family pay for at once?+

One at a time, in most cases. A household with a twenty-five to forty-five minute school run each way cannot sustain three weekly sessions plus the independent practice that makes sessions work, and plans like that generally collapse around half term having spent three subjects' worth of fees. Sequencing works better and costs less: four to six weeks on the weakest subject, then the next, preceded by a technique block on command words and graph work that pays into all of them simultaneously.

Should I ask whether the quoted rate includes VAT?+

Yes, and the answer should be a clear one rather than something to be discovered on an invoice. We are not going to state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as a general rule on this page, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation and we are not publishing one. What is reasonable is to ask any provider whether the number they quoted is the number you will pay, and to treat vagueness on that point as information about how the rest of the arrangement will go.

What does the free trial lesson actually have to produce?+

Something in writing that you could hand to a different tutor and have it be useful: which component is losing marks, whether the losses are content or technique, what the first four sessions would target and in what order, and an honest view of how much support is needed. If the output is enthusiasm, the hour was a sales call. Ours is taught by the tutor who would take the block, requires no card, and sometimes concludes that four sessions will do rather than a term.

Are Dubai school fees going up alongside tutoring costs?+

Not for this academic year. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for private schools in the emirate for 2026-27, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. That makes school fees the fixed part of an education budget and tutoring the variable part, which is useful framing when deciding how many months of specialist support to commit to rather than defaulting to two years of it.

Does group tuition save money for an IGCSE student?+

It costs less per hour and it is a different product rather than a discount on the same one. In a group of two to four, a tutor cannot aim the hour at one student's specific faults from their marked script. What a group does well is cover content and maintain pace, which suits a student who is behind on coverage. For a student losing marks to technique it is the wrong purchase, and buying it saves money per hour while wasting the entire spend.

Can my two children share one tutor to reduce the cost?+

Usually not usefully, because a Year 8 and a Year 11 candidate are at different points of different syllabuses and a shared hour serves neither well. What does help an Emaar South household is scheduling rather than sharing: two consecutive one-to-one sessions in one evening, each with its own set work and written note. That commits one evening instead of two. A visiting tutor cannot offer it, because they can be in one place at one time, which is where the in-home premium bites hardest here.

What is the cheapest useful thing an Emaar South family can buy first?+

Four diagnostic sessions built on marked scripts, ending in a written priority list. It has a defined end point, it produces something you can act on with or without us, and it frequently reveals that the problem is narrower than feared. The second cheapest is a technique block on command words, graph work and significant figures, because those faults appear across every science and maths subject at once and treating them once is cheaper than treating the symptoms three times.

When should an Emaar South family stop buying sessions?+

When the checkpoint evidence says the diagnosis is closed, which is why blocks should have end points. Compare the timed section at the end of each fortnight against the original written diagnosis: if the losses that were named are no longer appearing, the block has done its work. Continuing by default past that point is the quietest way several thousand dirhams get spent on reassurance rather than on marks, and it is extremely common because nobody involved has an incentive to raise it.

Does IB Gram send a tutor to an Emaar South address?+

No. Home visits are a service IB Gram runs in India only and no tutor is sent to any UAE address. Students here are taught live one-to-one over video on Gulf Standard Time. On a cost page that matters because the travel premium in the published in-home bands is not part of what you pay: Bestimate puts in-home at AED 180-350 and independent home tutors up to AED 500 once travel is included. Independent in-home tutors do operate in Dubai if physical presence is your priority.

Is there a credential I can ask an Emaar South tutor to show?+

Yes, and it is free to hold so there is no reason a legitimate tutor would not have it. Individuals providing private lessons in the UAE need the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. It is a legal licence rather than a quality credential. Anybody describing themselves as a KHDA-approved tutor is misdescribing the regulator: KHDA oversees schools and issues Educational Services Permits to training institutes with premises.

What should I ask about cancellation and minimum commitments?+

Whether the price is per hour or per lesson and what the lesson length is. What the cancellation window is and what happens if a session is missed on either side. Whether there is a minimum commitment and how long it runs. Whether the rate changes closer to examinations, because some providers raise it. Whether a package expires. For an Emaar South household add one more: which weekday slots exist after 17:00, because a provider with nothing late cannot serve this school run.

Send a script, get a diagnosis, then talk about money

If you are pricing an IGCSE home tutor in Emaar South, the published market runs from AED 33 to AED 650 an hour and the band you need depends entirely on what is actually wrong. Send the syllabus code, the tier, the entry route and a recent marked script. The free trial lesson is taught by the tutor who would take the block, requires no card, and returns a written diagnosis you could hand to anybody. Sometimes it says four sessions rather than a term. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; home visits are an India-only service.
