IGCSE Tutor near me in Emaar South

Searching for an IGCSE tutor near me in Emaar South is a request with a price attached, because nearby means somebody drives to the southern edge of the emirate and bills for it. This page puts published AED figures against that premium, against a wrong diagnosis, and against the extras nobody budgets for. IB Gram teaches Emaar South students one-to-one over live video and sends no tutor to a UAE address.

IB & IGCSE in Emaar South

Nearby is a purchase, and from Emaar South it is a dear one

A near-me search feels like a search for convenience. From Emaar South it is a search for somebody willing to drive twenty-five to forty-five minutes each way, through end-of-working-day traffic, to the southern edge of Dubai, for one lesson. Nobody does that for free. It is priced into the hour, and the published bands show how much: Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350, with independent home tutors quoted up to AED 500 once travel is included, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor online.

That is the first cost this page puts a number on. The second is less visible and usually larger: the cost of a wrong diagnosis. A family who buys a term of weekly sessions without anybody reading a marked script has spent twelve to fifteen hours at whatever rate they agreed, and the script at the end of it looks like the script at the start. That is not a cheap mistake disguised as an expensive one. It is the single most expensive thing in this market, and it is free to avoid.

The third is the set of costs nobody budgets for at the beginning of Year 10. Examination entry where a candidate sits privately. A remark request after results. A November resit entry, which means paying twice for one grade. Materials, where a provider offers to supply them, which raises a separate question this page answers directly. None of these is large on its own and together they change what a two-year plan actually costs.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. Home visits are a service we run in India only, so the travel premium in those published in-home bands is not part of what you pay here. Emaar South students are taught live one-to-one over video on Gulf Standard Time, with the marked script and the official mark scheme shared on screen. Saying so plainly belongs on a cost page, because what is not on offer is part of the price comparison.

What this page does not contain is an IB Gram rate. That is deliberate rather than evasive, and it is a different position from the three of six most visible providers in this market who publish no price at all while also declining to explain why. Our conversation starts with a free trial lesson and a written diagnosis, because a number quoted before anybody has looked at a marked script is an answer to a question nobody has asked yet.

One regulatory note that is also a cost note. Individuals providing private lessons in the UAE need the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years, which means no legitimate tutor can present it as a cost passed on to you. KHDA oversees Dubai's private schools and does not accredit tutors; IB Gram holds no KHDA approval or partnership and operates no UAE centre.

At a glance

  • In-home bands from Emaar South sit at the top because the journey is long
  • The largest cost in this market is a term bought without a diagnosis
  • Entry, remarks and resits are real costs that no plan mentions at the start
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free, so it is never a passed-on cost
  • Lessons here are live one-to-one video; home visits are an India-only service
  • No IB Gram rate appears on this page; the diagnosis comes before the quote
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three stages, three very different cost profiles, and Emaar South households are usually buying at one of them without having compared the three.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Key Stage 3

Nothing is externally examined, which makes this the cheapest point at which anything can be fixed. A gap in algebraic fluency or structured writing closed in Year 8 takes a term of weekly sessions with no deadline pressure. The same gap in Year 11 takes an intensive block at a specialist rate and still leaves the student behind on content arriving at the same time.

Emaar South's age profile skews young, so a large share of households here are at exactly the stage where the cheap intervention exists. Almost none take it, because nothing is visibly wrong yet. That is the clearest available arbitrage in this market and it goes unexercised every year.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE

Two years, eight to ten subjects, externally examined, with an entry tier that caps the achievable grade. Most of the money in this market is spent here and most of the waste happens here too, because families buy parallel arrangements in two or three subjects without a diagnosis in any of them.

An Emaar South candidate carries a long daily journey alongside this workload, which limits how many weekly sessions a plan can hold. That constraint is useful rather than unfortunate: it forces the question of which subject genuinely repays the money instead of permitting three half-funded arrangements.

Post-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

A Level and IB Diploma

Where the money gets more expensive. Bestimate's monthly estimates put specialist examination-year support at AED 1,000-2,000 or more against AED 600-1,200 mid-market, so a decision at sixteen that forces remedial work at eighteen is costly twice over. Tier and award choices at IGCSE can do exactly that.

For a family budgeting across both stages from Emaar South, money spent correctly at IGCSE reduces what has to be spent after sixteen rather than sitting alongside it. A combined science award or a Core tier entry that fails a sixth-form requirement is the clearest example of a saving that turns into a larger bill.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

The IB route for the same ages, marked against four criteria per subject from A to D and converted to a 1-7 grade. The cost logic differs completely: the best-value purchase is a short block teaching the criteria explicitly, which improves every subject at once instead of one.

Several schools Emaar South families travel to run the Middle Years Programme rather than IGCSE, so a parent comparing what a neighbour spends should first check whether the neighbour's child is in the same system at all. The sensible spend is not merely different in size but different in shape.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE subjects Emaar South families pay for, annotated by what a session in each one is actually buying.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580)

Core and Extended

The best return per hour in this market, because the faults are specific, visible on a script and improvable within a term. What caps the return is the entry tier, so a Year 10 pound spent producing timed higher-tier evidence is worth more than a Year 11 pound spent revising inside a fixed ceiling.

Mathematics A (Pearson 4MA1)

Foundation and Higher

The same return, with one way to lose all of it: a tutor working from Cambridge past papers. The syllabuses differ in structure and question style, so the money buys correct mathematics aimed at a paper the student will not sit. Checking the code costs nothing.

Physics (Cambridge 0625)

Core and Extended

Good value, and the cheapest gains sit in Paper 6, the alternative to practical, whose question types repeat across series and which almost nobody drills. Four sessions of technique there frequently beats a term of content sessions for a student who already understands the physics.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620)

Core and Extended

Mole calculations, qualitative analysis and charge balancing are procedural, which makes them cheap to repair in a compressed block once a script has named them. Broad content revision in chemistry is among the least efficient purchases on this list.

Biology (Cambridge 0610)

Core and Extended

The dominant task is compressing a large recall load into usable notes, and that is work the student does alone. The efficient purchase is a short block teaching the method, then independent work, rather than a standing weekly session paying somebody to witness revision.

English Language (Cambridge 0500)

Core and Extended

Directed writing and the summary question are structural and improve fast, which makes a narrow block good value. General reading practice is the classic expensive non-purchase here: it feels productive, costs the same per hour, and moves nothing measurable.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

Single tier

Analysis and evaluation command words carry the highest tariff and are reliably where candidates stop short, and the break-even, cash flow and ratio calculations are available marks. A block aimed at those two things beats working through the textbook at the same hourly rate.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

Single tier

Diagram drill and elasticity calculation are short, cheap and high-yield, and an unlabelled axis loses the mark whatever the prose says. Paying for wider reading in economics is paying for something the student can do with a library card.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

Single tier

Pseudocode conventions and trace tables are procedural and under-practised, so a short block is excellent value. The specialist pool is thinner than for the sciences, which means booking early matters more here than price comparison does.

Combined and Co-ordinated Science

Double and single award

Confirm the route before paying anything. Past papers from the separate sciences are not usable for a combined candidate, so a tutor given the wrong one sets content that is not on the syllabus. That is a full term of fees for no gain and it happens regularly.

Arabic as a Second Language (Cambridge 0544)

Single tier

Mandatory alongside the curriculum in Dubai private schools under KHDA rules, and often the grade a family worries about most. The writing component responds quickly to a small bank of drilled structures, which makes it unusually good value per session.

Additional Mathematics (Cambridge 0606)

Single tier

A separate syllabus covering calculus and further trigonometry beyond 0580, which needs its own slot rather than being folded into a maths hour. Budget it as an additional subject, because treating it as a free extension of one is how a plan quietly runs short of time.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Four purchases with defined ends, so the question of whether the money worked can actually be answered. All are live one-to-one video; none includes travel to a UAE address.

Four diagnostic sessions

The cheapest useful thing to buy and the purchase almost nobody makes. Four sessions built on marked scripts, ending in a written priority list that names the component faults in order. A family can then decide whether to continue, and frequently needs far less than it feared.

  • Four sessions, a fixed end point, a written output
  • Built on the student's own marked scripts, not a syllabus
  • Separates content gaps from technique faults
  • Useful to a different tutor if you take it elsewhere

A technique block across subjects

Command words, graph technique, significant figures and answer-length matching appear in every science and maths subject at once. Four to six sessions treating them once costs less than addressing the same symptoms separately in three subjects, and that arithmetic is rarely put to a parent before they buy.

  • One block, several subjects improved
  • Procedural work that survives a late evening slot
  • Past-paper evidence of the gain within a fortnight
  • A one-page reference the student keeps

The sixteen-session eight-week block

The honest unit for comparing providers, because an hourly rate says nothing about what a plan costs end to end. Two sessions a week for eight weeks after a mock, with the content set by the mock script rather than by the syllabus, and a timed checkpoint every fortnight.

  • Sixteen sessions, four fortnights, a checkpoint in each
  • Week one diagnoses and teaches nothing
  • No new content in the final fortnight
  • The fortnight repeats if a checkpoint fails

Year 10 term tuition where a ceiling is at stake

The one open-ended purchase that regularly justifies itself, because a term of weekly work ending in a timed higher-tier paper produces evidence a school can act on while the entry deadline is still ahead. After the entry closes the same money buys revision inside a fixed ceiling.

  • Term-length, one subject, a fixed weekly slot
  • Aimed at a timed higher-tier paper as the output
  • Reviewed at half term against the entry deadline
  • Stopped deliberately when the evidence exists

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Emaar South

01

The proximity premium, quantified from this address

  • The premium is driving time, not a different standard of teaching
  • Emaar South sits at the top of the in-home band because of the journey
  • One session an evening is the hidden constraint a rate card omits
  • Published packages: double the money for half the sessions

Begin with what nearby costs, since that is what the search asked for. The published Dubai bands separate cleanly by whether anybody drives. Qualified subject tutors online sit at AED 150-300 an hour, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. In-home one-to-one sits at AED 180-350 on Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table, and independent home tutors are quoted up to AED 500 once travel is priced into the hour.

From Emaar South the premium sits at the upper end of that spread rather than the middle, for a reason that is purely geographical. A tutor reaching this community is making the same journey the child made, in the same traffic, and committing roughly ninety minutes of unpaid travel around a sixty-minute lesson. A provider who does not price that in does not come, and a provider who does is charging for it whether or not the invoice itemises it.

The monthly packages published in this market express the same thing more starkly than the hourly rates do. AED 799 a month buys eight online sessions. AED 1,599-1,799 a month buys four in-home sessions of two hours. That is roughly double the money for half the number of sessions, and the difference is not teaching. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session give the wider frame: AED 240-600 for budget provision, AED 600-1,200 mid-market, AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support.

The premium also buys a constraint that never appears on a rate card. A tutor who has allocated ninety minutes of travel to your address can fit one session that evening, which means you take the slot their route allows rather than the slot your child can work in, a sibling pair becomes awkward, a two-subject plan becomes impractical, and a cancellation is hard to rearrange because the whole evening was yours. The table sets the comparison out as it applies here.

What a wrong diagnosis costs, priced out

This is the largest number on the page and no provider puts it on one. Take a family who buys a standing weekly session in mathematics at the mid-market band, Bestimate's AED 600-1,200 a month, for a full term. Nobody read a marked script before it started, so the tutor began where tutors begin, at the top of the syllabus, and worked forward. Twelve to fifteen hours later something feels calmer and the next mock returns the same grade.

The money is gone and so is the term, which is the part that cannot be bought back. An IGCSE candidate has roughly six usable terms between the start of Year 10 and the June series of Year 11, and one of them has now been spent confirming that the student can follow an explanation. Meanwhile the actual fault, which might have been pacing, or command words, or a results table convention on Paper 6, has gone unnamed and will reappear in the examination.

The variant that costs even more is a board mismatch. Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are separate syllabuses with different paper structures; 0625 and 4PH1 likewise; and separate-science past papers are unusable for a combined-award candidate. A tutor set to work on the wrong one teaches accurate material towards a paper the student will never sit, at full rate, for as long as nobody checks. The check is a glance at the timetable and takes under a minute.

Both failures are prevented by the same free action: send a marked script and ask what the first session will target. If the answer names a component and a technique, a diagnosis has happened. If it names a topic or describes an approach, it has not. That one question is worth more than any amount of price comparison, because it distinguishes between buying hours and buying a result.

Cost per mark instead of cost per hour

  • An identical hourly rate buys wildly different outcomes depending on the aim
  • Shared faults let four sessions affect three grades
  • A component-aimed block has a natural end point; a subject-aimed one does not
  • Broad revision is the default purchase and usually the weakest one

Hourly rates are how this market quotes and they are the wrong unit for a decision. The useful question is what a block of sessions is likely to move, and that varies enormously by what the block is aimed at. Four sessions on Paper 6 technique for a Cambridge science candidate addresses a component whose question types repeat across series and which the student has almost certainly never drilled. Four sessions re-explaining the particle model addresses something they already know.

The same logic sorts the rest of the timetable. A block on command-word discipline pays into every science and maths subject at once, because the fault appears in all of them simultaneously, so four sessions can affect three grades. A block on the supplied formula list costs one session and prevents a candidate deriving something that was printed on page two of their own examination paper. A block on reverse percentage and ratio addresses topics examined reliably on both boards and practised far below their mark value.

Against those, consider what broad content revision buys. It is the default purchase, it is comfortable for everyone involved, and for a student whose content is broadly present it moves very little, because the marks are not being lost where the hours are being spent. The hourly rate for those two blocks is identical. The cost per mark is not comparable.

This framing also answers the question of when to stop, which an hourly framing never does. A block aimed at a named component ends when a timed section shows the component is no longer losing marks. A standing weekly arrangement aimed at a subject has no natural end, which is why it continues, and continuing past a closed diagnosis is the quietest way several thousand dirhams leave a family's account in this market.

The costs nobody budgets for in Year 10

A two-year IGCSE plan has costs beyond sessions, and they arrive at moments when a family has no appetite for another decision. The first is examination entry. Where a school enters a candidate, entry is handled through the school as the examination centre and sits inside the fee structure. Where a student sits as a private candidate, which happens for a resit or an extra subject, entry is a separate arrangement with its own cost and its own earlier deadline.

The second is a remark. A remark request runs through the school after results, has a published deadline shortly afterwards, and can move a grade down as well as up. It is reasonable to request where a grade sits a mark or two below a boundary that matters for a sixth-form place or an equivalency requirement, and it is a cost with no refund if the grade holds. The decision window is days rather than weeks, which is why it belongs in a plan rather than in a panic.

The third is the November resit, which means paying twice for one grade: the original entry, the original preparation, then a fresh entry and an autumn block. It is often the right call, particularly where a Core tier ceiling was discovered in June, but it should be entered as a deliberate purchase. A resit decided in August with a term ahead costs the same entry fee and buys far more preparation than one decided in October with six weeks left.

The fourth is materials, and it deserves a direct answer because providers offer them. Nobody should sell you IGCSE past papers, mark schemes, grade boundary tables or syllabus documents. Those are copyright material belonging to Cambridge or Pearson, and a legitimate tutor references and links to the official sources rather than reselling them. If a provider's package includes a fee for supplied papers, that is worth questioning rather than valuing.

05

Why no provider should be selling you past papers

  • Past papers, mark schemes and syllabus documents are board copyright
  • A legitimate tutor references and links rather than reselling
  • Released mark schemes are published; a student should know where
  • A materials fee for supplied papers is a signal, not a service
  • A provider selling finished coursework should be declined outright

This is a small point with a large signal attached. IGCSE past papers, mark schemes, grade boundary tables and syllabus documents are published by Cambridge and Pearson and are their copyright material. A tutoring provider that reproduces them in a bundle, hosts them behind a paywall or includes a materials fee for supplying them is distributing somebody else's work, and for unreleased material it is a malpractice exposure as well.

The legitimate practice is straightforward. A tutor references the official document, links to the board's own page, and works from what the student has lawfully received through their school. Mark schemes for released papers are published by the boards and a tutor can show a student where to find them. That is both the correct position and the more useful one, because a student who knows where the official mark scheme lives can use it after the sessions end.

For a family pricing providers, the practical use of this point is as a filter. A package quote that itemises supplied materials is telling you something about how the provider treats rules generally, which is relevant information when the same provider will later be giving advice about internal assessment boundaries and academic honesty. The same instinct that bundles copyright papers tends to produce other shortcuts.

The adjacent version of this is worth naming too, because it is the most serious thing in this market. One page ranking in this cluster sells completed Internal Assessments. That is malpractice under the rules of the relevant programme, the consequence falls on the student rather than the seller, and no price makes it a reasonable purchase. A provider offering finished coursework should be declined on that basis alone, whatever their session rate looks like.

06

Allocating a two-year budget rather than spreading it

A family with a fixed amount to spend across Years 10 and 11 does better allocating it deliberately than committing to a flat weekly arrangement. The shape that works puts money early where it changes a ceiling, concentrates it around the mock, and holds some back for the autumn after results in case a resit is the right call.

Year 10 is where a pound moves a ceiling. A term of weekly work ending in a timed higher-tier paper, marked against the official scheme, produces evidence a subject lead can act on while the entry deadline is still open. After the entry closes, the same term of work buys revision inside a fixed cap, which is worth having and worth less. Very few families in this market spend in Year 10, and the ones who do get a different product for the same money.

The middle of the budget belongs to the eight-week block after the mock, which is sixteen sessions aimed by the mock script rather than by the syllabus. That is the honest unit for comparing providers, and it is also the point at which a family has the most information and the least time, which is exactly when a defined block with fortnightly checkpoints outperforms an open arrangement.

The reserve matters and almost nobody holds one. If a June grade lands below what a sixth-form place or an equivalency requirement needs, the decision has to be made in the days after August results, the resit entry goes through the school months before the November papers, and the autumn block has to be paid for. A family who has spent everything by May has no capacity for the one purchase that can still change the outcome. The table sets out the allocation.

07

What free has to mean, and what to ask before paying

The word free appears across this market with conditions attached somewhere out of sight: a card required, a minimum commitment triggered, a trial that is really a sales call with a student in the room. If free is used, the condition belongs on the same screen as the word. Ours has none: one full session, no card, taught by the tutor who would take the block, and no obligation at the end of it.

The test of whether a trial is genuine is whether you receive something in writing afterwards that you could hand to a different tutor and have it be useful. A written diagnosis naming the component faults in priority order passes that test. Enthusiasm does not. Sometimes our honest output is that four sessions will do rather than a term, which costs us money and is the correct answer.

Then there is a short list of questions worth asking any provider before money moves, and each has a definite answer in one sentence. Which syllabus code have you taught, and at what tier. What will the first session target, where a component is the right answer and a topic is the wrong one. Is the quoted number the number I will pay, including any tax treatment. What happens if the match is wrong in week two. What do I receive in writing after each session. Is the price per hour or per lesson, and how long is a lesson.

Two more belong on the list from this community specifically. What weekday slots exist after 17:00, because a provider with nothing late cannot serve an Emaar South school run, and an early slot agreed in optimism is the commonest reason an arrangement here quietly stops. And does the tutor hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is granted free of charge for two years under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, so there is no legitimate reason not to hold one and no basis for it appearing as a cost.

Where this leaves a household at the southern edge of Dubai

  • Proximity costs the top of the in-home band plus one session an evening
  • No diagnosis costs a term, which cannot be bought back
  • Three parallel subjects in a long-commute household usually collapse
  • Defined purchases with end points let you judge whether the money worked
  • Every figure on this page is published and attributed, never ours

Pulling the numbers together, the position for an Emaar South family is reasonably clear. Insisting on proximity costs the top of the in-home band, roughly AED 180-500 an hour on published figures against AED 150-300 online, plus a one-session-per-evening constraint that makes a sibling pair or a two-subject plan awkward. What it buys is physical presence, which is worth paying for at primary age and worth considerably less for a Year 11 candidate working through a marked script.

Buying without a diagnosis costs a term, and a term is the scarce resource rather than the money. Buying at the budget band for a technique fault costs the same term with a smaller invoice attached. Buying three parallel subjects in a household with a forty-minute school run costs three subjects' worth of fees and generally collapses around half term, which is why sequencing is both cheaper and better.

What works, on the published numbers and on the structure of the qualification, is a small number of defined purchases placed deliberately. Four diagnostic sessions first. A technique block that pays into several subjects. Year 10 money spent producing timed higher-tier evidence while a ceiling can still move. Sixteen sessions after the mock, aimed by the script. A reserve held for the autumn in case a resit is the right call. And nothing bought open-ended.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE, so the travel premium is not part of what you pay here, and there is no rate on this page because the diagnosis comes first. Every AED figure above is published by the provider named and can be checked, which in a cluster where three of six visible providers publish no price at all is a low bar that most of this market does not clear. That is the honest summary, and it is the one we would want if we were the ones paying.

Villas and townhouses across Golf Links, Urbana, Expo Golf Villas, Parkside and Greenview, with no school inside the community. An in-home tutor absorbs a twenty-five to forty-five minute journey each way, which places the quote at the top of the published in-home band.

Dubai South Residential District

Apartments and townhouses immediately north, including The Pulse. Slightly shorter journeys, but providers quote by area rather than by kilometre, so in practice the same band applies and the saving is theoretical.

Dubai Investments Park

The nearest school cluster and the only place in this catchment with a formed local tutoring market. A tutor already working here has the shortest extension to reach Emaar South and is the in-home provider most likely to quote at the band's lower end.

Al Furjan

North on the Sheikh Zayed side with its own schools and a metro station. Denser supply means more competition on price, which is the comparison Emaar South families notice when they ask a friend what they pay.

Jebel Ali

The established zone to the west with long-standing British and Indian-curriculum schools. Older supply, wider spread of rates, and more informal arrangements at the budget end than anywhere else in this set.

Discovery Gardens

High-density apartments with the most cost-conscious parent population here, where shared and group arrangements are common. That is a genuinely different product rather than a discount, and it suits a coverage problem rather than a diagnostic one.

Green Community

Low-rise housing inside Dubai Investments Park, minutes from the schools, and the lowest travel premium in this group. The clearest demonstration that in-home pricing is a function of geography rather than of teaching.

Dubailand and the southern corridor

The eastward school destination for some households here. For a tutor based there, reaching Emaar South is the longest journey in this set, and the quote sits accordingly at the top of the published range.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Emaar South

Al Furjan, Jebel Ali and Discovery Gardens

The British-curriculum arc supplying most IGCSE candidates from this community. Boards and entry routes differ between these schools, which is a cost point rather than a detail: the wrong board means a term of unusable past papers at full price.

  • The Arbor School
  • Safa Community School
  • The Winchester School Jebel Ali
  • Delhi Private School Dubai
  • The Gardens School

Dubai Investments Park and Green Community

The nearest cluster to Emaar South, mixing British, IB continuum and SABIS provision. Mock windows here set when a paid block should be placed, and they differ from the Dubailand pattern by several weeks.

  • Greenfield International School
  • Dove Green Private School
  • Nibras International School
  • The International School of Choueifat Dubai Investments Park
  • Bright Learners Private School

Dubailand and the southern corridor

The longest school journey Emaar South families make. Relevant to cost because it is also the cluster whose term dates and mock windows most often diverge, which affects when sixteen paid sessions should start.

  • South View School
  • Fairgreen International School
  • Jebel Ali School
  • The Aquila School
  • GEMS Metropole School

Schools are named as context for the school ecosystem Emaar South families travel to; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Confirm the code, the tier and the entry route

0580 or 4MA1, 0625 or 4PH1, Core or Extended, separate sciences or combined. All four are on the timetable and all four decide which past papers are usable. A specialist rate aimed at the wrong ones is the purest waste in this market and it costs nothing to prevent.

  2. 02

Send a marked script before asking for a price

A rate quoted before anybody has read a script is an answer to a question nobody asked. The script distinguishes content, technique, pacing and board mismatch, which need very different amounts of support. It is also the fastest route to discovering that less is needed than feared.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson, no card, no condition

One full session taught by the person who would take the block. The output is a written diagnosis you could hand to a different tutor. Book it into a slot you would genuinely use during term rather than an early one that happens to be free, because the time of day is part of what is being tested.

  4. 04

Buy a defined block, never open-ended hours

Four diagnostic sessions, a technique block, or the sixteen-session eight-week plan. A block has an end and a written output, which forces the question of whether it worked. Open arrangements continue past a closed diagnosis because nobody involved has a reason to raise it.

  5. 05

Allocate the two-year budget and hold a reserve

Year 10 money where a ceiling can still move, the largest share on the post-mock block, and something held back for the autumn after results in case a November resit is the right call. A family who has spent everything by May cannot make the one purchase that still changes the outcome.

  6. 06

Ask the seven questions, including the two local ones

Syllabus code, what session one targets, whether the quote is the number you pay, the rematch policy, what you receive in writing, which slots exist after 17:00, and the MoHRE permit. Each answers in a sentence, and a provider who cannot is not organised around the outcome.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The proximity premium is named, not absorbed

From an address at the southern edge of the emirate, in-home provision sits at the top of its published band because the tutor absorbs the journey your child just made. AED 180-500 an hour against AED 150-300 online, and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four in-home sessions against AED 799 for eight online ones.

A diagnosis before a quote, every time

A term bought before anybody read a marked script is the largest cost in this market, and it spends something that cannot be replaced. The free trial exists to put the diagnosis first, and its output is written so you could act on it with a different tutor entirely.

Cost per mark, not cost per hour

Four sessions on Paper 6 technique affect three science grades. Four sessions re-explaining understood content affect none. The hourly rate is identical. Quoting by the hour hides that difference, which is why this page quotes blocks and names what each one is aimed at.

Nothing sold that should not be sold

Past papers, mark schemes, grade boundaries and syllabus documents are Cambridge and Pearson copyright, and a legitimate tutor references and links rather than bundling them for a fee. A provider charging for supplied papers, or offering finished coursework, is telling you how they handle rules generally.

Blocks that end, so the money can be judged

Every purchase here has a defined end point and a written output, and each fortnight ends with timed evidence. That makes stopping a decision rather than an oversight, and continuing past a closed diagnosis is the quietest way thousands of dirhams go on reassurance in this market.

No regulator claims and no UAE centre

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, Cambridge or Pearson approval, accreditation or partnership, and operates no office or centre in the UAE. The MoHRE private tuition permit is free for two years, so a provider presenting licensing as a cost to you is misdescribing it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Emaar South: your questions answered

Does living in Emaar South make a tutor more expensive?+

If the tutor travels, yes, and measurably. Published Dubai figures put in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 an hour on Bestimate's 2026 rate table, with independent home tutors quoted up to AED 500 once travel is priced in, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor online. From the southern edge of the emirate the quote sits at the upper end of that spread, because a tutor is absorbing a twenty-five to forty-five minute journey each way. Online delivery removes the premium entirely, since nobody drives.

What is the most expensive mistake an Emaar South family can make?+

Buying a term of sessions before anybody has read a marked script. The money matters less than the term: an IGCSE candidate has roughly six usable terms between the start of Year 10 and the June series, and one spent confirming that a student can follow an explanation is one that cannot be recovered. The actual fault, which might be pacing, command words or a Paper 6 convention, goes unnamed and reappears in the examination. Sending a script first costs nothing.

How do I compare providers when nobody quotes the same way?+

Compare blocks rather than hours. Two sessions a week for eight weeks is sixteen sessions, and that is a unit every provider can price, which makes it the honest basis for comparison. An hourly rate tells you nothing about what a plan costs end to end, nor about what it is aimed at. Then ask what the first session will target: a component and a technique is a real answer, a topic or an approach is not, and that distinction matters more than a few dirhams either way.

Why is Paper 6 cheaper to fix than a whole science syllabus?+

Because its question types repeat across series and almost no candidate has drilled them. The alternative to practical paper asks students to identify variables, read instruments, complete results tables with correct headings and units, plot and interpret graphs, and suggest improvements addressing a named error. Those are learnable conventions, marked independently of whether the student understands the experiment. Four sessions can affect three science grades at once, at the same hourly rate as four sessions of broad revision that affect none.

Should I pay for a remark after IGCSE results?+

It depends entirely on the margin and on what the grade is needed for. A remark runs through the school as the examination centre, has a published deadline shortly after results, costs a fee with no refund if the grade holds, and can move a grade down as well as up. It is reasonable where a grade sits a mark or two below a boundary that matters for a sixth-form place or an equivalency requirement, and generally not worth it where the grade is several marks clear of one. Decide within days, not weeks.

Is a November resit worth paying for twice?+

Often, and it should be a deliberate purchase rather than a reaction. The resit means a fresh entry through the school plus an autumn preparation block, on top of what the first attempt cost. Where a Core or Foundation tier ceiling was discovered in June, or where a grade misses a sixth-form requirement, it is usually the right call. The timing decides the value: a resit chosen in August with a full term ahead buys far more preparation than the same entry chosen in October with six weeks left.

Should a tutoring package include past papers and mark schemes?+

No, and a fee for them is worth questioning rather than valuing. IGCSE past papers, mark schemes, grade boundary tables and syllabus documents are Cambridge and Pearson copyright material. A legitimate tutor references the official document, links to the board's own page and works from what the student lawfully has through school. Released mark schemes are published by the boards, and a student who learns where to find them can use them long after the sessions end, which is more useful than a bundle.

How should a two-year IGCSE budget be split?+

Early money in Year 10 where it can still move an entry tier, because a term of work ending in a timed higher-tier paper produces evidence a subject lead can act on while the deadline is open. A small share on a technique block that pays into several subjects. The largest single share on the sixteen-session block after the mock, when a family has the most information and the least time. And a reserve held for the autumn, because a resit decision arrives days after August results.

Does a cheap online tutor ever make sense for an IGCSE candidate?+

For a supervision problem, yes. At AED 33-65 an hour, which is what Tutopiya and EdFlik advertise, a family buys somebody who keeps a student at the desk, answers direct questions and checks arithmetic. For a student who will not sit down alone that is the correct purchase and the specialist bands would be waste. What it generally cannot do is read a marked script and identify that the results table headings are losing marks, which is a different problem and needs a different band.

Does IB Gram charge for travel to Emaar South?+

No, because no tutor travels. Home visits are a service IB Gram runs in India only and no tutor is sent to any UAE address. Students here are taught live one-to-one over video on Gulf Standard Time, with the marked script and the official mark scheme shared on screen. On a cost page that is the relevant point: the travel element of the published in-home bands, which runs from AED 180 to AED 500 an hour once driving is priced in, is simply not part of what you pay.

Is the private tutor permit a cost that gets passed on?+

It cannot legitimately be. The MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fee with a two working-day completion time. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. A provider presenting licensing as a cost to the family is misdescribing something that is free, which is worth noting.

Can three subjects be funded at once from this community?+

Funded, often. Sustained, rarely. A household with a twenty-five to forty-five minute school run each way cannot support three weekly sessions plus the independent practice that makes sessions work, and arrangements like that generally collapse around half term having spent three subjects' worth of fees. Sequencing costs less and produces more: a technique block that pays into all three first, then four to six weeks on the weakest subject, then the next, with a clearer diagnosis in each.

When should a block of sessions stop?+

When the timed evidence shows the named faults are no longer costing marks, which is why blocks should be bought with end points and fortnightly checkpoints. Compare each checkpoint against the original written diagnosis. If the losses that were named have gone, the block has done its job. Continuing by default past that moment is extremely common, because nobody involved has an incentive to raise it, and it is the quietest way a few thousand dirhams become reassurance rather than marks.

What should the free trial lesson leave me holding?+

Something in writing you could hand to a different tutor: which component is losing marks, whether the losses are content or technique, what the first four sessions would target and in what order, and an honest view of how much support is needed. If what you are left with is enthusiasm, the hour was a sales call with your child in the room. Ours requires no card, carries no condition behind the word free, and sometimes concludes that four sessions will do rather than a term.

Why does an early tutoring slot cost an Emaar South family money?+

Because it is the slot most likely to be abandoned. A student walking in at 16:30 after a long journey and sitting down five minutes later spends the first twenty settling, so a ninety-minute session delivers about sixty-five of what was paid for. Over a term that is several sessions of value lost, and the arrangement is usually dropped around half term with motivation blamed. Booking at least forty-five minutes after the door opens recovers the difference at no additional cost.

Do group sessions reduce the cost usefully?+

They reduce the hourly cost and change the product. In a group of two to four, a tutor cannot aim the hour at one student's specific faults from their marked script, so what a group does well is cover content and hold pace. That suits a student genuinely behind on coverage. For a student losing marks to technique it is the wrong purchase, and buying it saves money per hour while wasting the whole spend, which is the worst of the available outcomes.

Price the diagnosis first, then the block, then nothing open-ended

An IGCSE tutor near me in Emaar South is a request with a premium attached, and the published bands show it: AED 180-500 an hour in-home against AED 150-300 online, plus one session an evening. Send the syllabus code, the tier, the entry route and a recent marked script. The free trial requires no card, carries no condition, and returns a written diagnosis you could take anywhere. Sometimes it says four sessions rather than a term. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; home visits are an India-only service.
