IGCSE Home Tutor Fees in Dubai

IGCSE home tutor fees in Dubai are quoted as one hourly number and built from at least six separate things: teaching time, travel, marking, reporting, materials and a cancellation policy. This page takes the number apart in AED, prices the travel by community, shows what a monthly package locks you into, and lists the extras that appear on the second invoice rather than the first. IB Gram delivers tuition to Dubai families online, one-to-one, over live video.

  • Every AED figure attributed to the provider or rate table that published it
  • Travel priced by Dubai community, not quoted as a flat surcharge
  • Package lock-ins converted to an effective hourly rate
  • Delivered online over live video; no home visits anywhere in the UAE

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

One number, six things inside it

A tuition quote in Dubai arrives as a single hourly figure, which is why comparing two of them is so unreliable. AED 200 from one provider and AED 320 from another may be the same teaching with different marking attached, or entirely different teaching with the same marking, or one with a cancellation policy that costs you a session a month and one without. The hourly rate is a summary of at least six decisions, and the only way to compare quotes is to ask what each decision was.

The six are teaching time, travel, marking between sessions, reporting to parents, materials, and the terms around cancellation and commitment. For a visiting tutor, travel is often the largest hidden share: a journey across Dubai in the afternoon peak can be most of an hour each way, and somebody pays for it. For an online tutor the travel line disappears, which is a large part of why the published online bands sit below the published in-home ones in this market.

The published figures are worth setting out plainly, because three of the six pages ranking for these queries publish no price at all and two of the ones that do quote US dollars. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to AED 350, with home tutors ranging to AED 500, and specialist exam-year work at AED 200 to AED 450 and above. Unitors lists IGCSE tuition from AED 150 an hour. TutorChase quotes AED 270. EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to AED 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to AED 52. BartyED publishes AED 650 for a premium named tier. Monthly packages seen in this market include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Those are market rates, attributed to whoever published them. They are not IB Gram's price list, and this page does not publish one, because an hourly figure that ignores the subject, the tier and the series is the kind of number that has to be revised in a phone call anyway. What IB Gram does publish is the delivery model: tuition for families in the UAE is delivered online, one-to-one, over live video. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; home visiting is a service offered only in India.

That is stated at the top rather than buried, because this page is about fees and the honest version of the comparison is part of the fee discussion. The in-home market in Dubai is real, it charges what it charges for good reasons, and a family that wants a person in the room has a legitimate preference. What this page does is show you exactly which lines of the bill exist because of that preference, so the choice is made on arithmetic rather than on a provider's sales pitch.

At a glance

  • Published in-home band in Dubai: roughly AED 180-500 an hour, travel inside the fee
  • Published online band for a qualified subject tutor: roughly AED 150-300 an hour
  • Monthly packages seen: AED 799 online for eight sessions, AED 1,599-1,799 in-home for four double sessions
  • The six lines inside an hourly rate: teaching, travel, marking, reporting, materials, cancellation terms
  • KHDA confirmed no Dubai private school fee increase for 2026-27, so tuition is the line that moves
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Fees differ by stage more than most quotes admit, because the work differs. These are the four stages a Dubai family pays for across a British-curriculum school career, and what drives the price at each.

KS3Ages 12-14 · Years 8-9

Years 8-9, before the IGCSE course

The cheapest hours in the whole sequence and often the best value, because the work is foundational and does not need specification knowledge. Shorter sessions, fewer of them, no exam deadline forcing the pace. Market rates sit at the lower end of the qualified band here, and a strong general teacher is genuinely sufficient.

Dubai schools take in new arrivals across the year, so Year 9 classes contain children who have come from CBSE, an American curriculum or a different British scheme of work. The gaps are specific rather than general, which means a short diagnostic block is usually cheaper than a term of weekly sessions. Paying for twenty hours when six would have done is the commonest avoidable cost at this stage.

IGCSE-Y10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

Year 10, first teaching of the course

Mid-band rates, and the stage where weekly work costs least per grade moved, because the tutor is fixing this week's lesson rather than rebuilding a year. The tier decision also sits here, and an evidenced opinion on Core versus Extended is worth several sessions on its own if it changes the entry.

Because Dubai entries are submitted months ahead of the papers, Year 10 is when a fee spent on diagnosis changes the outcome rather than merely improving it. A family that establishes in October that Extended is reachable has a different two years ahead of them than one that discovers it in March, and the hours required are substantially fewer.

IGCSE-Y11Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Year 11, the examination year

The most expensive hours, for two reasons that have nothing to do with teaching quality. Demand peaks from January into the summer series, and the tutors who know a specific paper's mark distribution are scarce at exactly that moment. Specialist and exam-year rates in this market run from AED 200 to AED 450 and above.

Dubai centres enter candidates across Cambridge's March, June and November series and Pearson's May/June and November series, so the demand peak is not one season but two or three overlapping ones. Booking a named specialist in September for a May series costs less and gets a better match than booking the same person in March, which is the single largest saving available in the exam year.

RESITAges 16+ · after the first attempt

Resits and private candidates

Priced at the scarce end, because the work includes sequencing that a school would normally do and because few tutors handle private-candidate logistics. Entry fees for a private candidate are paid to the examination centre rather than to a tutor, and that amount is set by the centre, so it must be confirmed with the centre directly.

A resit decision in Dubai is partly a calendar decision. Cambridge runs a June series and a November series here, and Pearson runs May/June and November, so a student who misses a grade in the summer can often sit again in the autumn rather than waiting a full year. Entry deadlines sit months ahead: Pearson's November 2026 timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and the entry for it had to be in long before that, which is why the resit conversation belongs in August.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Subject is the biggest single driver of an IGCSE tuition quote in Dubai, and it is driven by scarcity rather than difficulty. These are the subjects families ask about, with what moves the fee in each.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

The deepest tutor pool in Dubai and therefore the most competitive rates. Expect the middle of the qualified band for Extended and the lower end for Core. The fee rises in the exam term because demand does, not because the teaching changes.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

Extended only

Scarce, and priced accordingly near the top of the specialist band. Few tutors who teach 0580 also teach 0606 properly, and the honest question is not what it costs but whether anyone available teaches it at a workable hour.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Upper-middle of the qualified band. A tutor who has marked the practical paper's answers charges more than one who has taught only theory, and for a Year 11 candidate that difference is usually worth paying because the practical losses are patterned and fixable.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Similar to Physics, with the mole work driving the value. A tutor who can diagnose mole weakness in one session saves hours of general revision, which is the clearest case in the sciences for paying mid-band rather than budget rates.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Mid-band and a deeper pool than the other sciences. Much of the work is command-term discipline rather than content, which is highly teachable, so a shorter block often produces more movement per dirham than a full year of weekly sessions.

English Language (0500 / 0510)

First and second language routes

Mid-band, with a deep pool in Dubai. Before paying for anything, confirm which route your child is entered for: a child on the wrong one of the two is capped or stretched administratively, and that is a free conversation with the school.

Economics (0455) and Business Studies (0450)

Core and Extended

Mid to upper band, with a thinner pool than the sciences. The value sits in long-question technique, so sessions built around marked written work are worth more than sessions built around content recap, and should be priced as such.

Computer Science (0478)

Extended only

Scarce in the form that matters. Programmers are plentiful; tutors who teach to the published pseudocode conventions are not, and that is the distinction the fee should reflect. Ask directly whether they have taught Paper 2 answers to those conventions.

Arabic as a First Language (0508) and Foreign Language (0544)

Both routes

Scarce, and complicated by the fact that the two routes are different courses. Arabic runs alongside the international curriculum in Dubai private schools under KHDA requirements, and schools are required to ensure teachers of Arabic have appropriate KHDA approval to teach it.

Coordinated and Combined Sciences (0654, 0653)

Core and Extended

Priced as one subject but containing three, which makes a diagnostic that separates performance by discipline unusually good value. Families often pay for general science tuition when the actual deficit is in one of the three.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

The three shapes of online IGCSE tuition carry different cost profiles, and the right one depends on what you are trying to find out rather than on which looks cheapest per hour.

Weekly one-to-one through the year

The lowest cost per grade moved, because nothing has to be re-taught from scratch and the tutor is working alongside the school's sequence. It is also the largest total commitment, which is why the cancellation terms and the review point matter more here than in any other format.

  • Billed per session, with marking of written work between sessions included
  • Ask what happens to the fee when school trips or study leave intervene
  • Ask for a review point where the arrangement can simply end
  • Priced per subject, because subject scarcity drives the rate

A four-to-six session diagnostic block

The cheapest way to find out whether tuition is the right spend at all. A fixed, bounded cost that ends in a written plan and an hour estimate, including the recommendation not to continue where that is the honest answer. Families unsure about committing should start here rather than with a year.

  • A fixed total you can agree before anything starts
  • Session one is a marked timed paper, not an interview
  • Ends with a named hour count you can budget against
  • No obligation to continue when the block finishes

Exam-term intensive

The highest hourly cost and the shortest commitment: two or three shorter sessions a week across eight to ten weeks, built on timed past-paper work. Rates in this market rise at this point in the year because demand does, so booking the slot months ahead both costs less and gets a better match.

  • Quoted as a block so the total is visible before you start
  • Explicit triage, with the uncovered topics named
  • Booked a series ahead where a named specialist is needed
  • Scheduling around Ramadan timings and school study leave

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What IGCSE home tutor fees in Dubai actually cover

  • Six lines inside one rate: teaching, travel, marking, reporting, materials, terms
  • Marking between sessions is the line most often missing from cheap quotes
  • Published in-home band: AED 180-500; published online qualified band: AED 150-300
  • Ask the five questions in writing and compare the answers, not the headline

An hourly tuition rate in Dubai is paying for six things, and providers bundle them differently. Teaching time is the obvious one. Travel is the one that only exists if someone drives. Marking of written work between sessions is the line most often absent from cheap quotes and most responsible for whether the hours achieve anything. Reporting to parents, materials, and the terms governing cancellation and commitment make up the rest. Two quotes that differ by AED 100 usually differ on marking and cancellation rather than on teaching.

The published market figures give the shape of each band. Bestimate's Dubai rate table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to AED 350, with home tutors reaching AED 500, and specialist exam-year work at AED 200 to AED 450 and above. Unitors lists IGCSE from AED 150 online. TutorChase quotes AED 270. At the budget end, EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to AED 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to AED 52, and at that level the hour is supervision rather than marked teaching. BartyED publishes AED 650 for a premium named tier.

When you take a quote, ask for it line by line. Not what is your rate, but: is marking of written work included between sessions, how long is the session, what notice do you need for a cancellation, what happens if we stop after three sessions, and does the figure include VAT. A provider who answers all five in one message is quoting a product. A provider who answers only the first is quoting a number, and numbers in this market have a habit of acquiring extras later.

02

The travel line, priced by Dubai community

Travel is the part of an in-home fee that parents accept without pricing, and it is often the largest avoidable share. A tutor driving from Al Barsha to Jumeirah Village Circle at 16:30 is not making a twenty-minute journey; in the afternoon peak that round trip can approach the length of the teaching session. Nobody absorbs that for free. It appears either as a higher hourly rate, as a minimum session length that makes the trip worthwhile, or as a tutor who takes only clients within a narrow radius.

The minimum-session effect is the one families notice last. A visiting tutor who will not travel for less than ninety minutes has, in practice, raised your weekly bill by fifty per cent regardless of whether your child needs ninety minutes. For a Year 9 student, sixty minutes of focused work is often more productive than ninety, and paying for the extra half hour because of a journey is paying for the journey. Online, session length is set by the student's attention rather than by a drive.

The second effect is on the pool. A tutor pool defined by a twenty-minute radius around Mudon is a very different pool from one defined by who teaches Cambridge 0606 at 17:00 Gulf Standard Time. For common subjects the local pool is deep enough that this hardly matters. For Additional Mathematics, Computer Science pseudocode work, Arabic as a first language, or a private candidate who needs sequencing as well as teaching, the radius is the binding constraint and no fee overcomes it.

Monthly packages and what a lock-in actually costs

Packages look like a discount and sometimes are. Monthly arrangements seen in this market include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year work. The arithmetic is worth doing before you agree, because the effective hourly rate inside a package is sometimes higher than the provider's own advertised hourly figure.

The real cost of a package is rarely the rate. It is what happens to unused sessions. Dubai school calendars contain half terms, long weekends, school trips, study leave and examination periods, and a package month with four scheduled sessions and two usable weeks hands the provider the difference. Ask three questions before signing: do unused sessions roll over, is there an expiry, and what notice cancels the arrangement. A package with rollover and a month's notice is a convenience; one with expiry and a term's notice is a commitment with a discount attached.

There is also a quieter effect on behaviour. A family inside a twelve-month package stops asking whether the tuition is working, because the decision feels already made. The arrangements that produce results are the ones with a review point: a date at which comparable marked work either moved or did not, and at which continuing is an active choice. If a package removes that date, the discount is being paid for with the thing that made the spending accountable.

The extras that appear on the second invoice

Most unexpected tuition costs in Dubai are not dishonest; they are simply not mentioned in the first conversation because nobody asked. A short list covers almost all of them. Late-cancellation charges, where a session cancelled inside the notice period is billed in full. Minimum session lengths that raise the weekly cost. Separate charges for mock marking or for reading a piece of written work outside session time. Rate increases at the start of the exam term. Charges for a second child in the same household. Materials billed separately.

Two of these deserve particular attention. The first is exam-term pricing. Several providers in this market charge more from January onwards, which is defensible given demand, but a family that budgeted in September on an autumn rate finds the number rising at exactly the point they are least able to change tutor. Ask in September what the rate will be in February and get the answer in writing. The second is the second-child question: families with two children at IGCSE often assume a household discount exists, and where the sessions are separate one-to-one hours, usually it does not.

The VAT question needs care rather than confidence. Whether and how tuition is treated for UAE VAT is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority and depends on the provider's circumstances, so this page does not state a treatment. What a parent can reasonably do is ask whether a quoted price includes VAT, ask for an invoice that shows the amount charged, and ask for the provider's tax registration number where VAT is being charged. A provider unable to answer those three questions is worth a second look for reasons beyond tax.

What a fee cannot buy, and what it should

  • A promised grade is only honest with published, honoured refund terms
  • A fee should buy diagnosis, marking, written reporting and a review date
  • Ask for the hour estimate in writing before the first paid session
  • No fee buys the production of assessed work, at any price

No fee in this market buys a grade. No provider controls the paper, the marking or the boundaries, and a promised grade is only honest where refund terms are published and honoured. Any Dubai provider offering a guaranteed band should be asked, politely and immediately, where those terms are published. The same applies to a self-published star rating: one provider in this market shows its own aggregate rating of 4.9, and two show different review counts on the same page.

What a fee should buy is specific and checkable. A diagnosis in the first session, from marked timed written work rather than a conversation. An estimated hour count, given in writing, by someone prepared to be shown wrong. Written work marked against the published criteria between sessions, with annotations at the point of loss. A short note after each session. And a review date at which comparable marked work either moved or did not, with a stated consequence either way. That list is worth more than any discount.

It is also worth knowing what a fee must not buy. A tutor teaches, explains the criteria, and gives feedback on work the student produced; no part of an assessed submission is supplied or edited to completion for a student. One operation researched for these pages sells completed Internal Assessments at a published price, which is an academic-integrity breach that puts the student at risk rather than the provider. A quote that includes anything of that kind is not cheap at any price.

06

Tuition fees against the rest of a Dubai education budget

Tuition is easier to judge next to the numbers around it. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under the second of the emirate's economic incentives packages, valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Each school's own fee is published on its KHDA profile, so any parent can check the figure without asking the school. Against a frozen school fee, tuition becomes the education line that is actually moving, which is a good reason to examine it carefully once a year.

Exam entry is the number families overlook. School candidates have entry costs folded into the school's charges. Private candidates pay the examination centre directly, and the amount is set by the centre rather than by Cambridge or Pearson, so it must be confirmed with the centre you intend to use. The deadlines matter more than the amounts: a Cambridge June entry has to be lodged in the spring, roughly four months before the first paper, and the November series closes in the summer, with the exact day published per series and zone. Missing an entry deadline costs a whole series.

The table below is a planning frame rather than a price list. Put your own school's published fee and your own centre's entry charge into it, then add the tuition rows. The exercise takes ten minutes and tends to produce better decisions than either guilt or panic, because it shows tuition in proportion and makes the review conversation a budgeting one rather than an emotional one.

What moving the session online removes from the bill

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; home visiting is a service offered only in India. Tuition for UAE families is delivered online, one-to-one, over live video, in Gulf Standard Time. Because this is a page about fees, the right thing to do is show which lines of a bill that decision removes and which it does not, rather than describe the choice as an advantage and move on.

Three lines disappear. Travel, which in the outer communities can approach the cost of the teaching hour. The minimum session length that exists to justify a journey, which means a sixty-minute session is available where sixty minutes is what the child needs. And the second-subject travel multiple, so a family wanting Maths and Chemistry in one evening pays for two hours of teaching rather than two journeys. Two lines are unchanged: marking between sessions and reporting are properties of the provider's model, not of the format.

One thing is genuinely lost, and it is worth naming. A tutor physically present can hold the attention of a younger or very distractible child in a way a screen has to work harder at, and for some families that is decisive. Against it sits the pool question: the difference between a Physics graduate who can teach 0625 and a teacher who has marked Paper 6 answers across several series is large, and it is not a difference you can find twice inside a twenty-minute drive of Town Square. Online, the constraint becomes the clock instead of the map.

Five questions that produce a real quote

  • Session length, and whether a shorter one is available
  • Whether written work is marked between sessions, and by whom
  • Cancellation notice and what is charged inside it
  • What the rate will be in the exam term, confirmed in writing
  • What happens if you stop after three sessions
  • Specification code, tier and cohorts taught by this specific tutor

Most tuition conversations in Dubai begin with what is your hourly rate, which is the least informative question available. Five others produce a quote you can actually compare. What is the session length, and is a shorter one available. Is written work marked against the published criteria between sessions, and by the tutor who teaches them. What notice cancels a session and what is charged inside that notice. What will this rate be in February. And what happens if we stop after three sessions.

Add two that are specific to IGCSE. Which specification code and tier has this tutor taught, and how many cohorts. And what will I receive in writing after each session. The first establishes whether you are buying specification experience or general teaching, which is the largest determinant of value in Year 11. The second establishes whether there will be a record, which is what makes a review conversation possible later.

A provider who answers all seven in one message is quoting a product, and the number they give you means something. A provider who answers only the rate has given you a figure that will be revised on contact with reality. The whole purpose of taking a fee apart is that the parts are comparable where the total is not, and ten minutes of asking at the start saves the conversation that otherwise happens in February, when nobody involved has any room left to move. Send the questions by message rather than asking them on a call, so the answers are written down and can be read again in six months.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

For a visiting tutor, the community a family lives in is a cost input: the journey is inside the fee and the dead time is paid for. These notes price that reality by area, and explain what disappears from the bill when delivery moves online.

Dubai Marina, JBR and Bluewaters

Central and well connected, so travel is not the constraint; parking and tower access is. Visiting tutors commonly add time for building entry, and sessions start late because school buses arrive late. Online removes both the access delay and the surcharge.

Jumeirah Village Circle, Al Furjan and Discovery Gardens

Journeys crossing Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road double in the afternoon peak, so a visiting tutor's round trip can exceed the teaching hour. This is where the travel share of an in-home fee is largest and where it buys a parent nothing.

Mudon, Town Square, Dubailand and Dubai South

Outlying communities where the pool of tutors willing to drive is thinnest and the surcharge highest. Requests for scarce specifications from these areas are the ones most likely to go unmatched locally, whatever fee is offered.

Mirdif, Al Warqa and Al Mizhar

Villa communities with schools close by, so children are home early and a 16:00 start is realistic. Travel from the city centre is moderate, which keeps in-home quotes nearer the bottom of the published band than JVC quotes are.

Dubai Hills Estate and Arabian Ranches

Long internal distances inside the communities themselves, so a visiting tutor's journey does not end at the gate. Families here often want two subjects in one evening, which multiplies the travel cost in-home and costs nothing extra online.

Jumeirah 1, 2 and 3

Short school runs and the earliest feasible session starts in the city. Travel is cheap for a visiting tutor here, which is why in-home quotes for these addresses sit closest to online rates and the comparison is tightest.

Business Bay, Downtown and DIFC

Easy to reach, hard to work in: the binding constraint is a room with a door that shuts rather than a journey. Any quote should be tested against where the session will actually happen, because a session in a shared living room is not the product.

Deira, Bur Dubai and Al Qusais

Dense older districts with strong IGCSE Maths and science demand and a reasonable local tutor supply, so in-home rates here are more competitive than in the outlying communities. Session timing is built around Maghrib and family dinner.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Schools serving Marina, Al Barsha and Tecom

Large IGCSE cohorts with post-16 routes splitting towards A Level or the Diploma. Each school's published fee sits on its KHDA profile, which is the figure to use when putting tuition costs in proportion. Students we support attend schools in this cluster.

  • Dubai College
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Dubai International Academy

Schools serving Mirdif, Al Warqa and Al Qusais

British and Indian-curriculum provision side by side, with early home times and heavy demand for Maths and the sciences. Fee sensitivity is higher here and the local tutor supply is better, which keeps in-home quotes closer to the published floor.

  • Uptown International School
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Star International School Mirdif
  • Deira International School

Schools serving Dubai Hills, the Ranches and Al Qudra

Wide catchments and long internal journeys, several campuses running both post-16 routes. Families here most often book two subjects together, which is the scenario where the in-home travel multiple is most visible on an invoice.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches
  • GEMS Metropole School
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • Ranches Primary School

Schools are named as context for the Dubai IGCSE market. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement from any school, school group or examination board named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the subject, specification code, tier and series

Cambridge 0580 Extended for June and Pearson 4MA1 Higher for November are different requests with different rates and different tutors. The code is on the statement of entry. Sending it first gets you a quote that will not need revising later.

  2. 02

A free trial lesson, with no card details taken

One session before any payment, with no card required and no booking commitment. Use it to test the thing a fee is supposed to buy: hand the tutor a piece of your child's returned work and ask where the marks went.

  3. 03

Agree the quote line by line

Session length, marking between sessions, written reporting, cancellation notice, exam-term rate and what happens if you stop after three sessions. All six in one message before anything is paid, so there is nothing left to discover on a second invoice.

  4. 04

A diagnostic that produces an hour estimate

The first working session is timed written work rather than a conversation, and it should end with named causes and an estimated hour count. That estimate is what turns a monthly payment into a budget you can actually review.

  5. 05

A review date, set before the first paid session

A point at which comparable marked work either moved or did not, with a consequence either way. Arrangements without one are how families in Dubai end up terms into a standing payment, and the review date costs nothing to ask for.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

AED figures with the publisher named

Every rate on this page is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, in the currency Dubai families pay in. Half the pages ranking for these queries publish no price at all, and two of those that do quote US dollars.

No invented price list

IB Gram does not publish a single hourly figure, because a number that ignores subject, tier and series has to be revised on contact with the actual request. Rates are quoted per subject after a free trial lesson, which costs nothing and requires no card details.

Travel priced honestly rather than described

The travel share of an in-home fee is set out by community, because a round trip to Jumeirah Village Circle in the afternoon peak is a different cost from a trip to Jumeirah 2. Online delivery removes that line and the minimum session length that exists to justify it.

Package arithmetic shown, not implied

Advertised monthly packages are converted to an effective hourly rate, because AED 799 for eight sessions and AED 1,599 for four double sessions are not comparable until someone does the division. Rollover and notice terms matter more than the headline discount.

Extras listed before they appear

Late cancellation, minimum session length, mock marking, exam-term increases, second-child rates and materials are the costs that arrive on a second invoice. They are listed here with the question that surfaces each one in advance.

An independent platform with no claimed approval

IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform, holds and claims no approval from KHDA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge International or Pearson, operates no UAE office, and delivers UAE tuition online rather than at a family's address.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What are IGCSE home tutor fees in Dubai made up of?+

Six things, bundled into one hourly figure: teaching time, travel, marking of written work between sessions, written reporting to parents, materials, and the terms around cancellation and commitment. Travel only exists where someone drives, and it is often the second largest share. Marking is the line most often absent from cheap quotes and the one most responsible for whether the hours achieve anything. Two quotes differing by AED 100 usually differ on marking and cancellation rather than on teaching quality, which is why comparing headline rates across Dubai providers tells you very little.

What hourly fee does the Dubai in-home IGCSE market actually publish?+

Published market figures put in-home one-to-one at roughly AED 180 to AED 350, with home tutors ranging up to AED 500, according to Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table, and specialist exam-year work at AED 200 to AED 450 and above. TutorChase quotes AED 270 and BartyED publishes AED 650 for a premium named tier. Those are market rates attributed to whoever published them, not IB Gram's prices. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE; tuition here is delivered online, one-to-one, over live video.

Why does the same tutor cost more for our villa in Mudon than for a family in Jumeirah?+

Because travel is inside the fee and the journeys are not comparable. A round trip to Jumeirah 2 in the afternoon is short and predictable; a round trip to Mudon or Town Square can approach the length of the teaching session, and in the outer communities the pool of tutors willing to make it is thin enough that scarcity adds to the rate. It also shows up as a minimum session length, since a tutor who will not drive for less than ninety minutes has raised your weekly bill by half. Online delivery removes both effects.

Is an AED 799 monthly tuition package good value in Dubai?+

Do the division before deciding. AED 799 for eight sessions is roughly AED 100 per teaching hour, which is competitive if those sessions are the length advertised and if written work is marked between them. The cost that catches families is unused sessions: Dubai school calendars contain half terms, trips, study leave and exam periods, and a package month with four scheduled sessions and two usable weeks hands the provider the difference. Ask whether unused sessions roll over, whether there is an expiry, and what notice ends the arrangement before you sign anything.

What unexpected charges do Dubai tuition providers add later?+

Six recur. Late-cancellation fees charged inside a notice period. Minimum session lengths that raise a weekly bill. Separate charges for marking mocks or written work outside session time. Rate increases from January, when demand peaks and you are least able to change tutor. A second full rate for a sibling where parents assumed a household arrangement. And materials billed separately. None of these is dishonest; they simply go unmentioned because nobody asks. Each has a question that surfaces it in advance, and asking all six takes one message.

Should an IGCSE tuition quote in Dubai include VAT?+

Ask rather than assume. How tuition is treated for UAE VAT depends on the provider's own circumstances and is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority, so no honest page should state a treatment as fact. What you can do is ask three things: does the quoted figure include VAT, will the invoice show the amount charged, and what is the provider's tax registration number where VAT is being added. A provider who cannot answer those three is worth a second look for reasons that go beyond tax, because they indicate how the rest of the billing is run.

Do tuition rates in Dubai rise before the IGCSE exam series?+

Commonly, yes, and the increase lands at the worst moment for a family. Demand for specification specialists peaks from January into the May and June series, when every Year 11 cohort in Dubai is chasing the same small pool of subject specialists at once. Several providers price accordingly. The protection is simple and nobody uses it: in September, ask what the rate will be in February, and ask for the answer in writing. Booking a named specialist months ahead both costs less and produces a better match than trying to find one in April, three weeks before the first paper.

Is online IGCSE tuition cheaper than a home tutor in Dubai, or just different?+

Both. Three lines leave the bill: travel, the minimum session length that exists to justify a journey, and the second journey when a family wants two subjects in one evening. Published online rates for a qualified subject tutor sit at roughly AED 150 to AED 300 against an in-home band of AED 180 to AED 500. Two lines do not change, because marking and reporting are properties of the provider's model rather than the format. What is genuinely lost is a person in the room, which matters most for younger or very distractible children.

How many sessions should we pay for before deciding whether tuition is working?+

Buy a bounded block rather than an open arrangement. Four to six sessions is enough to produce a diagnosis from marked timed work, an estimated hour count and a written plan, including the recommendation not to continue where that is honest. Then set a review point at roughly session six of any ongoing arrangement, where comparable marked work either moved or did not. The expensive failure in this market is not a bad tutor; it is a standing monthly payment with no date at which anybody asks the question.

Do siblings studying IGCSE together get a lower rate in Dubai?+

Usually not, where the sessions are separate one-to-one hours, because the tutor is teaching twice. Where providers do discount a household, it is normally because the children are taught together, and that is a different product: two students sharing one hour means roughly half the individual feedback each. For siblings in the same year sitting the same specification, shared sessions can work well. For siblings two years apart, or on different tiers, the saving is paid for in attention. Ask which arrangement is being offered before comparing it to a single rate.

What should I receive in writing for the fee I am paying?+

Four things. A diagnosis from the first session based on marked timed written work rather than a conversation. An estimated hour count, given by someone willing to be shown wrong. Written work marked against the published criteria between sessions, with annotations at the point of loss rather than a grade and a comment. And a short note after each session saying what changed and what is set for the week. If none of that arrives, you are buying lesson time only, and that should be reflected in what you pay for it.

How do IGCSE tuition fees compare with Dubai school fees?+

Put them side by side, because the comparison is informative. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, and each school's fee is published on its own KHDA profile. Against a frozen school fee, a weekly online one-to-one subject at AED 180 to AED 360 per hour across thirty teaching weeks is a meaningful but not enormous addition, and it is the only education line in the household you can change mid-year. That is the reason to review it deliberately once a year rather than by instinct.

What does a private candidate pay to enter IGCSE exams in Dubai?+

The amount is set by the examination centre rather than by Cambridge or Pearson, so it has to be confirmed with the centre you intend to use; no honest page can quote you a figure that applies everywhere. The deadlines matter more than the amount. A Cambridge June entry closes in the spring, months ahead of the paper, and the November series closes over the summer, with the exact day printed on the statement of entry. On the Pearson side, the November 2026 International GCSE timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so check the live official timetable rather than a restated date.

Can a tuition fee in Dubai come with a promised grade improvement?+

Not honestly. No provider controls the paper, the marking or the grade boundaries, and the only way to offer such a promise properly is to publish refund terms and honour them, which almost nobody in this market does. Where you see a guaranteed band, ask where the terms are published and read them. Treat a self-published star rating the same way: one provider here shows its own aggregate rating of 4.9, and two show conflicting review counts on a single page. What a fee can buy is diagnosis, marking, reporting and a review date.

What is the cheapest sensible way to start IGCSE tuition in Dubai?+

A free trial lesson, then a bounded diagnostic block of four to six sessions at an agreed total. The trial costs nothing and requires no card details, and it is where you test whether the tutor can read one of your child's returned scripts and name where the marks went. The block then produces a plan and an hour estimate, so any larger commitment is made with a number in front of you. Starting with a twelve-month package is the most expensive way to find out whether tuition was the right intervention.

Take the number apart before you agree to it

Ask for session length, marking between sessions, written reporting, cancellation notice, the February rate and what happens if you stop after three sessions. Then ask which specification code and tier the tutor has actually taught. Seven questions, one message, and the quote you get back is comparable with the next one, which the headline rate never is. A free trial lesson comes first, with no card details and no commitment, and the diagnostic that follows should hand you an hour estimate you can budget against rather than an open monthly payment.
