IB Tutor near me in Culture Village

Search for an IB tutor near me in Culture Village and the implied question is whether this neighbourhood is better or worse served than the ones around it. It is a fair question with a clear answer: Culture Village, Al Jaddaf and Dubai Creek Harbour differ on commute and school access and barely at all on what matters, because none of them contains a pool of Diploma specialists. This page does the comparison properly. Lessons are one-to-one online on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Culture Village

Comparing Culture Village with the districts next door

Culture Village is Jaddaf Waterfront: Dubai Wharf and the Creek-side towers, compact, with no private school inside its boundary. Al Jaddaf is immediately adjacent and does contain one, Swiss International Scientific School Dubai, running IB programmes. Dubai Creek Harbour sits across the water on the Ras Al Khor side and, like Culture Village, contains none. Those three districts are minutes apart and are routinely compared by families who are deciding where to live or which tutor to hire.

The comparison is worth doing properly, because the differences that exist are real and the differences people assume are not. What genuinely differs between the three is commute length, and therefore how early a weekday session can start, and which school clusters are practical. What does not differ is the availability of Diploma subject specialists within a short drive, because in none of these districts is there one. The IB accounted for seven per cent of Dubai private school enrolment in 2024-25 against thirty-seven per cent on UK curricula, and a seven per cent share spread across a city does not produce local density anywhere.

That is the uncomfortable finding of the comparison and it is the useful one. A family moving from Creek Harbour to Culture Village gains about fifteen minutes in the evening and loses nothing. A family comparing a tutor advertising in Al Jaddaf with one advertising in Culture Village is comparing two listings drawn from the same small pool, neither of which was selected on whether the tutor has taught the subject and level in question. Proximity is a real variable with a small effect, and specification match is a real variable with a large one.

IB Gram's position follows from that rather than preceding it. Tuition for UAE families is delivered one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in Culture Village, Al Jaddaf, Dubai Creek Harbour or anywhere else in the UAE; home visiting is a service we operate only in India. The argument is not that online is universally superior. It is that in these three specific districts the thing proximity would buy is not available locally at the level the Diploma requires.

Published prices give the comparison a number. In-home one-to-one rates in Dubai run from AED 180 to AED 350 on Bestimate's table and from AED 200 to AED 500 from home-tutor providers, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified tutor online with Unitors listing IB from AED 200. So proximity costs somewhere between a third and double, and in return it offers a tutor drawn from whoever lives within a practical drive of the Creek. That is the trade, stated as plainly as we can state it.

What follows compares the three districts on schools, commute and session timing, sets out what proximity would have to buy to be worth that premium, compares a local radius with a national pool on the things that decide a Diploma grade, and then says what a Culture Village family should compare instead.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Culture Village families reach us at three points in the IB continuum, and the comparison with neighbouring districts plays out differently at each. These are the programmes we cover.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, normally three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Forty-two points come from the subjects at a maximum of seven each and up to three more from the core, for a maximum of 45.

This is where the district comparison matters least and the specialist comparison matters most. A Higher Level science or Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level requires a tutor who has taught that exact subject and level, including its internally assessed component, and that person is no more likely to live in Al Jaddaf than in Culture Village. No IB session or results date appears on this page, because the IB's own site blocks automated checking.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria each, marked out of eight and converted to a grade from one to seven. Most years have no external examination, so the grade is built from classroom tasks and the school reporting cycle governs the work.

Here the district comparison does have teeth, because younger students benefit more from an early session and Culture Village's short commutes genuinely deliver one. A Middle Years student at a school in Al Jaddaf or across the Creek in Dubai Festival City can start at 16:30; the same student commuting to Nad Al Sheba cannot, and the difference in what the hour achieves is visible.

PYPAges 3-12 · Foundation to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

An inquiry-led framework rather than a content syllabus, with transdisciplinary units and an exhibition in the final year. Support at this stage targets underlying literacy and numeracy fluency, usually in short blocks rather than ongoing arrangements.

The one stage where a visiting tutor has a genuine case, and we will say so despite not offering it. Younger children benefit from an adult physically present and from physical materials, and a Culture Village family wanting that for a seven-year-old should look for a visiting arrangement rather than an online one. Our model fits a Diploma candidate and a Middle Years student considerably better than a Year 2 pupil.

COREAges 16-19 · Across both years

The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge

The Extended Essay is limited to 4,000 words. Theory of Knowledge is assessed through an essay on a prescribed title limited to 1,600 words and an exhibition of three objects with a commentary limited to 950 words. Together they carry up to three of the forty-five points.

The core is entirely indifferent to geography. Both components are supervised in school, both are written by the student, and the help that is both legitimate and useful is question scoping, criteria explanation and feedback on the student's own draft. None of that improves by being delivered in the room, which is the clearest single illustration of why the district comparison does not decide the outcome.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IB subjects Culture Village families ask for, each with a note on how local availability compares with the national pool.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebra, functions, calculus and proof, with Paper 1 sat without technology. Higher Level is the thinnest locally available subject in all three districts, because Paper 3 plus the Exploration demand a specialist and the pool near the Creek is small.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, regression, hypothesis testing and interpretation with a calculator throughout. Better served locally than Analysis and Approaches, because more tutors are comfortable with statistics than with proof and the Maclaurin series.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, thermal physics, waves, electricity, magnetism and nuclear physics. Higher Level availability is thin in every district on this page, and the internally assessed investigation needs uncertainty analysis, which narrows the pool again.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Stoichiometry, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, redox and organic chemistry. Similar availability profile to Physics, with the investigation's evaluation criterion the specific capability to check for.

Biology

HL and SL

Cell and molecular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution and human physiology. The best-served science locally, because the content is wide rather than technically narrow and more tutors can cover it credibly at Standard Level.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics and the global economy, with an internally assessed portfolio of commentaries on published articles. Reasonably well served in the Creek districts, because Business Bay and Downtown attract tutors with commercial backgrounds.

Business Management

HL and SL

Organisation, human resources, finance, marketing and operations, with a Higher Level research project. The subject where a local pool comes closest to matching a national one, for the same reason as Economics.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Guided analysis, comparative essay, individual oral and a Higher Level essay. Well served locally for Standard Level and thinner at Higher Level, where the essay component requires a different kind of experience.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

An essay on a prescribed title limited to 1,600 words and an exhibition with a 950-word commentary. Availability is thin everywhere, because few tutors have marked it, and it is entirely unaffected by whether they are nearby.

The Extended Essay

Core

A 4,000-word independent research essay, supervised in school. The useful help is question scoping and criterion feedback, which is the same service whether it happens in the room or over video, and the specialism is research method rather than geography.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Culture Village families use Diploma support, all delivered one-to-one online over live video on Gulf Standard Time. None of them depends on where in the Creek districts you live.

Subject and level specialist, weekly

One hour a week matched to one subject at one level, with internal assessment criteria experience confirmed before the match. The format that makes the national pool worth having, because the whole value sits in a specificity a local radius cannot reliably supply.

  • Matched to subject and level, with IA experience checked
  • Planned against the school's own teaching order
  • A written note after each session naming the next piece of work
  • Same slot weekly, chosen for the worst normal weekday

Internal assessment and core blocks

Short runs of sessions against one internally assessed component or one core deadline. Entirely indifferent to geography, because the work is question scoping, criteria explanation and feedback on the student's own draft rather than anything that benefits from being in the room.

  • Scope and research-question work before any drafting
  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Never producing, restructuring or supplying assessed work
  • A session note recording whose work was in front of us

Examination technique in the final stretch

Timed papers, command terms and Higher Level Paper 3 practice in mathematics. Worth booking in the autumn even for spring use, because availability across all three Creek districts tightens at the same moment when every cohort arrives together.

  • Papers on the exact subject and level, marked to the published scheme
  • Command term work from the published glossary
  • A shortening topic list rather than a syllabus review
  • Slot reserved early; same price, materially better match

01

Culture Village against Al Jaddaf against Dubai Creek Harbour

Here is the comparison written out, because families in these three districts make it constantly and usually from anecdote. The districts are minutes apart, share one education catchment, and differ in ways that are easy to overstate. Only one of the three contains a private school. All three send students to the same clusters south along Al Khail Road and across the Creek into Dubai Festival City.

The genuine differences come down to minutes. Al Jaddaf has the shortest runs because Swiss International Scientific School Dubai is inside the district. Culture Village is a minute or two behind it and effectively equivalent. Dubai Creek Harbour is on the far side of the water and loses roughly fifteen minutes in the evening to every destination. Over a two-year Diploma those fifteen minutes are worth something, particularly for mathematics, but they are not the difference between a good outcome and a poor one.

The difference that would matter, local specialist supply, is absent in all three. The International Baccalaureate accounted for seven per cent of Dubai private school enrolment in 2024-25, against thirty-seven per cent on UK curricula, twenty-six per cent Indian and fourteen per cent US. A seven per cent share, spread across 227 private schools and 387,441 students, does not produce a concentration of Higher Level Diploma specialists in any residential district, let alone three adjacent ones on the Creek.

So the honest comparison concludes that the three districts are close to interchangeable for the purpose of hiring a Diploma tutor. What differs is the evening timetable, and that is worth optimising. What does not differ is whether the person who has taught Chemistry at Higher Level and marked its investigation lives nearby, because in all three cases they probably do not.

What proximity would have to buy to be worth the premium

  • Physical presence genuinely buys an adult in the room, materials, and connectivity insurance
  • None of those three matters much for a Diploma candidate's internal assessment work
  • A visiting tutor's diary is built on geography, which constrains the match first
  • Replacement takes weeks locally and a week online, and that gap bites in Year 13

A visiting tutor costs more, and that is not a criticism: travel is real work and should be paid for. Published in-home one-to-one rates in Dubai run from AED 180 to AED 350 on Bestimate's table and from AED 200 to AED 500 from home-tutor providers, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified tutor online, with Unitors listing IB from AED 200. The question is what the difference purchases, and it is a fair question to ask of either model.

There are three things physical presence genuinely provides. An adult in the room, which matters for a younger or easily distracted student and matters less each year after about thirteen. Physical materials and manipulatives, which matter at primary level and in some art and design work. And a guarantee against connectivity failure, which matters if a household's connection is genuinely unreliable rather than merely occasionally annoying.

For a Diploma candidate, almost none of that applies. A Year 12 or Year 13 student working on an internally assessed component needs their draft read against published criteria, their research question interrogated, and their command-term errors named. All of that happens identically over video. The Extended Essay is the clearest case: it is written by the student, supervised in school, and the useful help is conversation about scope and criteria. Nothing about it improves by the conversation occurring in a living room.

Against those three benefits sit three costs that are easy to miss. The premium itself. The constraint that a visiting tutor's diary is built on geography, so your match is limited by their route before it is limited by your child's subject. And replacement speed: if the match fails mid-term, a local substitute takes weeks because the pool is bounded by the same radius, whereas an online match can change inside a week. For a Culture Village family the third is usually the decisive one, because it bites hardest in the term when internal deadlines and predicted grades land together.

03

A Creek-side radius against a national pool

This is the comparison that actually decides a Diploma grade, and it is the one no provider in this market publishes. Take a radius drawn around Jaddaf Waterfront that a tutor could plausibly drive in the late afternoon and ask what it contains. Then ask the same question of a national pool. The difference is not uniform across subjects, and the pattern of where it bites is the useful finding.

For a Standard Level subject in a mainstream group, the local radius is frequently adequate. Biology at Standard Level, Business Management, English A at Standard Level: a competent local tutor exists and the gain from widening the pool is modest. A family whose need is in that category should feel free to choose on convenience, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

The radius fails at the edges, and the edges are where Diploma grades are decided. Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, with Paper 3 and the Exploration carrying forty per cent between them. Physics and Chemistry at Higher Level, with internally assessed investigations requiring uncertainty analysis and a heavily weighted evaluation criterion. Theory of Knowledge, which few tutors have ever marked. In those categories a local radius does not contain a credible match and a national pool does.

The second failure is temporal rather than subject-based. Internal deadlines and mock weeks arrive across Dubai schools simultaneously, because cohorts progress together. In those fortnights a local radius is at its emptiest exactly when demand is at its highest, and a replacement is hardest to find. That is the point at which the comparison stops being theoretical, and it is also the point at which most families first go looking.

04

What a Culture Village family should compare instead

  • Compare on subject and level, internal assessment experience, slot and replacement speed
  • Test the IB claim with three questions about criteria and word limits
  • Culture Village's short runs make 16:30 realistic; use it for maths and sciences
  • Ask how fast a wrong match can be replaced, and expect a number of weeks

If the district comparison is close to a tie, the useful comparison is a different one. Compare candidates on four things, in this order: whether they have taught your child's exact subject at the exact level, whether they have worked with the internally assessed component for that subject and can name its criteria, whether they can hold the slot your week actually allows, and whether they can be replaced quickly if the match does not work.

The first two are testable in one conversation. Ask which criteria the internally assessed component in this subject is marked against and roughly what each carries. Ask the word limit on the Theory of Knowledge essay, and on the exhibition commentary. Ask how the three core points are awarded between the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge. A tutor who teaches the Diploma answers all of that without pausing; one who has read a syllabus summary redirects to the subject itself.

The third is a scheduling question that Culture Village answers better than most Dubai districts. Short runs to Al Jaddaf and Dubai Festival City make a 16:30 start realistic, which is worth real value for mathematics and the sciences where error rates rise sharply with fatigue. For a school further out, a weekend morning is the better instrument and it also widens the choice of tutor, because weekday evenings between 17:00 and 19:00 are the busiest hours in the UAE tutoring day.

The fourth is the one nobody asks and it is the one that matters in Year 13. Ask what happens if the match is wrong, and listen for a number of weeks rather than a reassurance. An arrangement that can be changed inside a week is a different product from one that cannot, and the difference is invisible until the term when internal deadlines, mocks and predicted grades all arrive together.

05

The Dubai picture behind the local comparison

  • Dubai 2024-25: 227 private schools, 387,441 students, seventeen curricula
  • Enrolment shares: UK 37%, Indian 26%, US 14%, International Baccalaureate 7%
  • 2026-27 intake adds seven schools, three of them IB, creating 16,846 places
  • KHDA regulates schools and does not approve tutors or tutoring platforms

Some context explains why the three districts look the way they do. KHDA reported 227 private schools serving 387,441 students in Dubai in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with UK curricula at thirty-seven per cent of enrolment, Indian at twenty-six, US at fourteen and the International Baccalaureate at seven. That is a large market with a small IB share, and a small share spread across a city is what produces thin local specialist supply everywhere rather than in particular districts.

The direction of travel is upward. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, and six new schools opened during 2025-26 with enrolment rising six per cent. KHDA also confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year under Dubai's second economic incentives package. More IB places are coming; the specialist tutor supply follows enrolment with a lag of years rather than months.

What this means for the comparison on this page is that it will not change quickly. A Culture Village family deciding today is deciding in a market where IB enrolment is growing and local specialist density is still low, and where the nearest IB school sits in the district next door rather than in their own. Over a two-year Diploma that situation is stable enough to plan around.

One negative worth repeating in this context. KHDA regulates and inspects schools and does not approve, accredit or license tutors or tutoring platforms. An inspection rating is a judgement about a school. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge or Pearson, and a KHDA Educational Services Permit applies to training institutes with premises and staff, which we are not.

06

The core: the clearest case that geography is irrelevant

  • Three points sit on two documents written entirely by the student
  • Extended Essay limit 4,000 words; TOK essay 1,600; exhibition commentary 950
  • The dominant failures are question scope and answering an adjacent prescribed title
  • Feedback on the student's own draft is legitimate; producing the work is not

If one part of the Diploma settles the proximity argument, it is the core. Three of the forty-five points sit on the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge together. The Extended Essay is limited to 4,000 words, supervised in school, and written entirely by the student. The Theory of Knowledge essay is limited to 1,600 words on a prescribed title, with an exhibition of three objects carrying a commentary limited to 950 words. Nothing in any of that benefits from a tutor being in the room.

What does help is conversation, and specifically the right conversation at the right time. An Extended Essay question too broad to answer in 4,000 words is the dominant failure, and it is visible at the question stage months before the word count becomes a problem. Two or three conversations in Year 12 protect three points. A Theory of Knowledge essay that answers an adjacent question rather than the prescribed title as written is the second dominant failure, and one session taking the title apart clause by clause prevents it.

The boundary applies regardless of delivery. A tutor may question a research question, explain what a criterion rewards, and comment on the student's own draft. A tutor may not produce the essay, restructure it to a standard, or supply the argument, and the school supervisor remains the supervisor. Providers in this market sell completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price; that is a malpractice trigger under IB rules and the consequence falls on the candidate rather than the seller.

So the core is where a Culture Village family should stop thinking about distance entirely and start thinking about whether the person they are hiring has read these criteria before. That is a question about experience, not about postcode, and it is the question most likely to be answered honestly if it is asked directly.

07

Permits, and the one comparison that is free to make

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free for two years and issued in two working days
  • Ask which permit category applies, in any delivery model
  • A teacher may not take paid private work with students enrolled at their own school
  • IB Gram has no UAE premises, office or branch, and holds no centre permit

Whichever model a Culture Village family chooses, one comparison costs nothing and is rarely made. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18.

The application route is MoHRE's own service, Issuance of a New Work Permit for Private Tutor Licensing, through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system, listed with no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Because the permit is free and quick, there is no cost reason for a tutor not to hold one, and asking which category applies is a reasonable question of any provider in any model. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so any amount quoted to you is unverified.

A boundary worth naming in a comparison page specifically. A Culture Village family may find that the most locally available option is their child's own subject teacher. ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Proximity at its most extreme is also the arrangement the rules most clearly exclude.

A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a separate legal position requiring a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram holds neither that permit nor any UAE premises, office or branch, and we state that rather than implying a local presence. One competitor in this market shows a Dubai footer address on an Abu Dhabi page, which is a misrepresentation rather than a design choice.

08

Getting started from Culture Village

  • Send subject, level, the component in progress, its deadline and two windows
  • Mention any weekend morning; it widens specialist choice considerably
  • One free trial lesson per student, with no payment or card details beforehand
  • Judge the match on the tutor's diagnostic note, not on how the hour felt

Send the subject and level, which internally assessed component is in progress, its school deadline, and two evening windows that genuinely work from Jaddaf Waterfront after the school run. Mention a weekend morning if you have one, because it widens the specialist choice considerably and it is where sustained work belongs. We match a subject specialist and run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep.

One trial per student, nothing charged beforehand, no card details required. The tutor writes a short note on what they found and what they would address first, and that note is the thing to judge the arrangement on. If it names a specific weakness and the evidence that would show it moving, the match is sound. If it is general, nobody has diagnosed anything and more hours will not change that.

If no specialist is free in your window we say so, give a realistic wait, and offer the nearest honest alternative rather than placing whoever is available. Scarcity concentrates in Higher Level sciences and Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, in Theory of Knowledge, and in the deadline clusters that arrive across Dubai simultaneously. Booking before a cluster costs the same and secures a better match, which is the only free improvement in this process.

Two limits stated plainly. Nobody can promise a grade or a point total and this page does not. And nothing here implies that tutoring is required for the Diploma to be awarded, for university admission or for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency; those are institutional and regulatory processes with their own published rules, and the authority rather than any tutoring provider is where to verify them.

Where we tutor

The three districts and what each one actually offers

This is the comparison a Culture Village family is implicitly making when they search for a tutor nearby. These are the neighbouring districts, each described on what it genuinely provides.

Culture Village

Jaddaf Waterfront, Dubai Wharf and the Creek-side towers. No private school inside the community, short runs in every direction, and a realistic 16:30 session start for nearby schools. No local Diploma specialist concentration.

Al Jaddaf

Adjacent, with Swiss International Scientific School Dubai in the district and Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2 alongside. The only one of the three with a school inside it, which shortens the commute but does not create a tutor pool.

Dubai Creek Harbour

Across the water on the Ras Al Khor side. No school inside the community and a longer run to every cluster, which pushes a realistic session to 16:45 or later. Otherwise the same specialist picture as the other two.

Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

A short run along the Creek with no large private secondary school in either district. More tuition centres and more tutors with commercial backgrounds, which helps Economics and Business Management specifically.

Sobha Hartland and Mohammed Bin Rashid City

North London Collegiate School Dubai and Hartland International School. The nearest cluster with significant IB provision after Al Jaddaf, reached by a southbound Al Khail Road run at the worst hour.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

GEMS Modern Academy and neighbouring schools. The longest routine commute from all three Creek districts, where a weekend session delivers more than a weekday one at the same price.

Dubai Festival City

Universal American School Dubai and Deira International School. Close to Culture Village and Al Jaddaf, slightly further from Creek Harbour, and dependent on a single Creek crossing in each case.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Culture Village

The Creek districts: Culture Village, Al Jaddaf and Festival City

The nearest cluster to Jaddaf Waterfront and the one that makes the three-district comparison concrete. Swiss International Scientific School Dubai in Al Jaddaf is the only IB provision inside any of the three residential districts, and the rest sits across the Creek. Short journeys and early session starts are the real local advantage.

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Al Khail Road south: Hartland, Meydan and Nad Al Sheba

Where most of the additional IB provision used by all three Creek districts actually sits. Culture Village, Al Jaddaf and Creek Harbour families all travel here, which is the clearest evidence that the three districts share one education catchment rather than having separate ones.

  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Hartland International School
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Kent College Dubai
  • Collegiate American School

Schools appear here only as context for the Culture Village education market. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement arrangement with any school named, and none has reviewed this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Stop comparing districts and compare candidates

Culture Village, Al Jaddaf and Dubai Creek Harbour differ by minutes in the evening and not at all in local specialist supply. The variables worth comparing are subject and level experience, internal assessment familiarity, slot availability and replacement speed.

  2. 02

Test the IB claim in one conversation

Ask which criteria the internally assessed component in your child's subject is marked against, the word limits on the Theory of Knowledge essay and exhibition commentary, and how the three core points are awarded. Someone who teaches the Diploma answers without pausing.

  3. 03

Use the early slot Culture Village allows

Short runs to Al Jaddaf and Dubai Festival City make a 16:30 start realistic, which matters most for mathematics and the sciences where error rates rise with fatigue. For a school further out, a weekend morning does more than two extra weekday evenings.

  4. 04

Ask how fast a wrong match can be replaced

And expect a number of weeks rather than a reassurance. An arrangement changeable inside a week is a different product from one bounded by a driving radius, and the difference is invisible until internal deadlines, mocks and predicted grades land together.

Protect the core first, wherever the tutor sits

Three points rest on an Extended Essay question scoped to 4,000 words and a Theory of Knowledge prescribed title read as written. Both are conversations rather than lessons, both are cheap in Year 12, and neither improves by happening in the room.

Review at the next school assessment

If the marks have not moved where the plan predicted, change the plan or the tutor. That is also the point at which a national pool proves its worth, because the replacement can happen in the same week rather than at the end of a search.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We did the district comparison honestly

Culture Village, Al Jaddaf and Dubai Creek Harbour differ by a few minutes in the evening and share one education catchment. Saying that plainly, rather than claiming a special local presence in each, is the only version of this page worth publishing.

We name where a local tutor is fine

Standard Level mainstream subjects, Biology, Business Management and Economics are reasonably served within a Creek-side radius, and a family whose need sits there should choose on convenience. The national pool matters at Higher Level and in the core, not everywhere.

Matched on the component, not the subject

The internally assessed component in each subject is marked against published criteria that have little to do with raw subject knowledge, which is exactly the gap a strong general tutor leaves. We confirm that experience before the match rather than after a deadline.

Replacement speed treated as a feature

An online match can be changed inside the same week. A locally bounded one takes weeks, because the pool is the same radius that produced the first match. That difference is invisible until Year 13 and decisive once it matters.

No local presence claimed that we do not have

IB Gram has no UAE premises, office or branch and makes no UAE home visits. One competitor in this market shows a Dubai footer address on an Abu Dhabi page. We would rather state the limit than manufacture a local address for three adjacent districts.

No unverified dates, no regulator claims

No IB session or results date appears here, because the IB's own site blocks automated checking. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, IB, Cambridge or Pearson approval, so nothing on this page rests on a claim you cannot check.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Culture Village: your questions answered

Is Culture Village better or worse served for IB tutors than Al Jaddaf?+

Practically the same, and the honest answer is that neither has a local concentration of Diploma specialists. Al Jaddaf contains Swiss International Scientific School Dubai, which shortens the commute for families enrolled there, but a school in a district does not create a tutor pool in it. The International Baccalaureate accounted for seven per cent of Dubai private school enrolment in 2024-25, and a seven per cent share spread across 227 schools does not produce local density in any residential district.

Would moving from Dubai Creek Harbour to Culture Village improve tutoring access?+

It would gain you roughly fifteen minutes in the evening and change nothing else. Both districts contain no private school, both send students to the same clusters across the Creek and south along Al Khail Road, and neither has a meaningful local specialist pool. Those fifteen minutes are genuinely worth something for mathematics and the sciences, where error rates rise sharply with fatigue, but they are not the difference between a good Diploma outcome and a poor one.

What would a tutor being physically present actually give my child?+

Three things, named honestly. An adult in the room, which matters for a younger or easily distracted student and matters less each year after about thirteen. Physical materials and manipulatives, which matter at primary level and in some art and design work. And insurance against a genuinely unreliable connection. For a Year 12 or Year 13 candidate whose draft needs reading against published criteria and whose research question needs interrogating, none of the three applies, and the premium buys logistics.

For which IB subjects does a local tutor genuinely work?+

Standard Level subjects in mainstream groups, mostly. Biology at Standard Level, Business Management, English A at Standard Level and often Economics are reasonably covered within a Creek-side radius, helped by the commercial backgrounds of tutors around Business Bay and Downtown. Where a local radius fails is at Higher Level in the sciences and in Analysis and Approaches, and in Theory of Knowledge, which very few tutors anywhere have marked. Those are the categories that decide Diploma grades.

Why does replacement speed matter more than the hourly rate?+

Because of when it bites. If a match fails mid-term, a locally bounded replacement takes weeks, since the pool is the same radius that produced the first one. An online match can change inside a week. That gap is irrelevant in the autumn of Year 12 and decisive in the term when internal assessment deadlines, mock examinations and predicted-grade evidence all arrive together, which is also the term when families most often discover the match is wrong.

How do I test whether a tutor really knows the Diploma?+

Three questions, asked before hiring. Which criteria is the internally assessed component in this subject marked against, and roughly what does each carry? What are the word limits on the Theory of Knowledge essay and on the exhibition commentary? How are the three core points awarded between the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge? Someone teaching the Diploma regularly answers all three without pausing. Someone who has read a syllabus summary redirects the conversation to the subject itself.

Which schools do Culture Village, Al Jaddaf and Creek Harbour families share?+

Almost all of them, which is the clearest evidence the three districts are one catchment rather than three. Swiss International Scientific School Dubai sits in Al Jaddaf. Across the Creek, Universal American School Dubai and Deira International School are in Dubai Festival City. South along Al Khail Road, North London Collegiate School Dubai and Hartland International School serve Sobha Hartland and Mohammed Bin Rashid City, with GEMS Modern Academy in Nad Al Sheba. Schools are named as market context only.

Why is the IB core the clearest argument against paying for proximity?+

Because nothing in it happens in a room. The Extended Essay is a 4,000-word independent research essay written by the student and supervised in school. The Theory of Knowledge essay is 1,600 words on a prescribed title, with an exhibition commentary limited to 950 words. The help that is both legitimate and useful is conversation: question scoping, criteria explanation, feedback on the student's own draft. That conversation is identical over video, and together those components carry three of the forty-five points.

Is the IB share of Dubai schools growing enough to change this?+

Growing, but not quickly enough to change a decision made today. The International Baccalaureate was seven per cent of Dubai private enrolment in 2024-25, and Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, three of them IB, creating 16,846 places. Six new schools opened during 2025-26 with enrolment up six per cent. Specialist tutor supply follows enrolment with a lag of years rather than months, so the thin local picture is stable enough to plan a two-year Diploma around.

How early can a session start from Jaddaf Waterfront?+

Often 16:30 if the school is in Al Jaddaf next door or across the Creek in Dubai Festival City, because those are short runs. A student travelling to Sobha Hartland is realistically 17:00 and one commuting to Nad Al Sheba 17:15 or later. Choose the slot for the worst normal weekday rather than the best. Where the commute is long, a weekend morning does more than two additional weekday evenings and also widens the choice of specialist considerably.

Does IB Gram have an office in the Creek districts?+

No. IB Gram has no UAE premises, office or branch anywhere, which is also why it holds no KHDA Educational Services Permit, since that authorisation applies to training institutes with premises and staff. Tuition for UAE families is delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and we make no home visits in Culture Village, Al Jaddaf, Dubai Creek Harbour or anywhere else in the UAE. Home visiting is a service we operate only in India, and we state that rather than implying a local presence.

Can I hire the most local option of all, a teacher from my child's school?+

You should not, and that is the one case where extreme proximity is clearly excluded. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit paid private tutoring of students enrolled at the teacher's own school, and the MoHRE private tuition permit carries a code of conduct that also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Beyond the rules, the person teaching the class, setting its assessments and moderating its internal work should not be separately paid by one family in it.

What should I ask about a tutor's UAE permit?+

Which category applies and whether it is current, in whichever delivery model you choose. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service with no fee and a stated two working days, so there is no cost reason not to hold one.

Does a KHDA inspection rating tell me anything about a tutor?+

Nothing at all. KHDA is Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority, responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate, and it regulates and inspects schools. An inspection rating is a judgement about a school's provision and does not transfer to any tutor or tutoring platform. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge or Pearson.

If the districts are equivalent, what should actually drive my choice?+

Four things in this order. Whether the tutor has taught your child's exact subject at the exact level. Whether they have worked with that subject's internally assessed component and can name its criteria. Whether they can hold the slot your week genuinely allows, which for Culture Village is often as early as 16:30. And how fast they can be replaced if the match is wrong. Distance belongs well below all four, because in these three districts it varies by minutes and specialist supply does not vary at all.
