IB Home Tutor in Culture Village

Families searching for an IB home tutor in Culture Village are usually reacting to a date they have just noticed. The Diploma runs twenty-two months and almost every deadline that matters is set internally by the school rather than externally by the IB, which is why a plan built from the exam calendar arrives late. This page counts the whole thing backwards from the end. Lessons are delivered one-to-one online on Gulf Standard Time, across the Creek from Jaddaf Waterfront and anywhere else.

  • Planned from the school's internal deadlines, not from the external session
  • Lessons are live online one-to-one; IB Gram makes no UAE home visits
  • No IB exam or results dates published, because none could be verified
  • One free trial lesson per student before any payment or card details

IB & IGCSE in Culture Village

Count the Diploma backwards, not forwards

The IB Diploma is twenty-two months long and almost nobody plans it as a whole. Families plan a term, react to a report, buy some hours, and discover the structure retrospectively. The structure is entirely knowable in advance, and the single most useful thing a parent in Culture Village can do is get the school's internal calendar and count backwards from the end. Everything else, including the choice of tutor, follows from that document.

The reason internal dates matter more than external ones is that they govern almost everything a tutor can affect. Every Diploma subject has an internally assessed component with its own school deadline. The Extended Essay has school-set draft deadlines well before submission. Theory of Knowledge has an essay and an exhibition with internal dates. Predicted grades, which university offers rest on, are produced by the school from the school's own evidence partway through Year 13. The external session is the last item on a long list, not the organising principle.

This is also why a plan that peaks in the spring of Year 13 wastes money. By then the internally assessed components are closed and moderated, the core is submitted and the predictions are issued. The only thing left to influence is examination performance, which is a real thing worth supporting, but it is one of several levers rather than all of them. Culture Village families who count backwards tend to spend the same amount and get two outcomes instead of one.

On the home-tutoring question, the honest version. Home tuition exists in Dubai at published rates of AED 180 to AED 350 on Bestimate's table and AED 200 to AED 500 from home-tutor providers, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified tutor online, with Unitors listing IB from AED 200. Monthly in-home packages of AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour sessions appear in the market. IB Gram is not a visiting service: tuition for UAE families is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and home visiting exists only in our India operation.

There is a calendar reason that limit helps rather than hurts. Internal deadlines cluster, and they cluster at the same time across Dubai schools, because cohorts move through the programme together. In those weeks a visiting tutor bounded by driving distance is least likely to have a slot, and a replacement is hardest to find. An online match can be made or replaced inside the same week, which matters precisely when the calendar is tightest.

One honesty note before the detail. No IB session or results date appears anywhere on this page. The IB's own website blocks automated checking, so no date in this project has been confirmed from the IB directly, and an unverified exam date is something a family would plan a term of revision and a budget around. UAE schools sit the main May session. Your school's IB coordinator holds the calendar, and this page tells you which parts of it to ask for.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Culture Village families come to us at four points in the Diploma calendar, and the useful work differs sharply at each. These are the stages we cover.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, normally three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Forty-two points come from the subjects at a maximum of seven each, and up to three more from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge combination, for a maximum of 45.

UAE schools sit the main May session. The dates that shape a tutoring plan are internal: the deadline for each subject's internally assessed component, the Extended Essay draft dates, the Theory of Knowledge submission window, the mock examination weeks and the point at which the school assembles predicted-grade evidence. Ask the IB coordinator for all five. None is published by the IB and all of them are set locally.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria each, marked out of eight and converted to a grade from one to seven. Most years have no external examination, so the reporting cycle rather than an exam calendar is what governs the work.

Culture Village families with children in both programmes face two different calendars in one household. The Middle Years Programme runs on school reporting points with revisable tasks, and the Diploma runs on fixed internal deadlines with no resubmission. Treating them the same is the commonest planning error, because it leads parents to assume a Diploma deadline has the flexibility an MYP task had.

COREAges 16-19 · Across both years

The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge

The Extended Essay is an independent research essay limited to 4,000 words. Theory of Knowledge is assessed through an essay on a prescribed title limited to 1,600 words and an exhibition of three objects with a commentary limited to 950 words. Together they carry up to three of the forty-five points.

The core is where the internal calendar bites hardest, because the school supervises it and sets the draft deadlines. It is also where early work is cheapest and late work is most expensive: an Extended Essay research question that cannot be answered in 4,000 words is visible at the question stage and unfixable once the writing is done. Ask for the draft dates in Year 12, not Year 13.

CASAges 16-19 · Across both years

Creativity, Activity, Service

Not graded, but required for the Diploma to be awarded. Students complete experiences and at least one project, with reflections recorded and reviewed by the school's CAS coordinator at set interview points.

Included here because it is a calendar item that can delay a Diploma and is routinely treated as optional until it is urgent. Tutoring does not touch it, and we will not pretend otherwise. What a plan should do is keep the CAS interview dates visible, so that a term already carrying an internal assessment deadline does not also acquire a CAS catch-up that nobody scheduled.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IB subjects Culture Village families ask for, each with the internally assessed component whose school deadline drives the work.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebra, functions, calculus and proof, with induction and complex numbers at Higher Level and Paper 1 sat without technology. The Exploration carries twenty per cent and has a school draft deadline usually in the first term of Year 13.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, regression, hypothesis testing and interpretation with a calculator permitted throughout. Same Exploration weighting and same five criteria, so the internal deadline matters just as much on this route.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, thermal physics, waves, electricity, magnetism and nuclear physics. The internally assessed investigation needs uncertainty analysis, which is where marks are lost, and it usually has the earliest internal deadline of the sciences.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Stoichiometry, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium, redox and organic chemistry. The investigation is marked on exploration, analysis, evaluation and communication, with evaluation carrying the weight schools teach least.

Biology

HL and SL

Cell and molecular biology, genetics, ecology, evolution and human physiology. Data-based questions on unfamiliar material are the discriminator, and the investigation deadline tends to sit alongside the Extended Essay draft.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics and the global economy, with an internally assessed portfolio of commentaries on published news articles. The portfolio has staged internal deadlines across both years rather than one.

Business Management

HL and SL

Organisation, human resources, finance, marketing and operations, with a Higher Level research project. Marks come from application to a real organisation, and the project needs scope control before any writing.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Guided analysis, comparative essay, individual oral and a Higher Level essay. The individual oral is internally assessed with a school-scheduled date, which is frequently the earliest internal assessment of the whole Diploma.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

An essay on a prescribed title limited to 1,600 words and an exhibition of three objects with a commentary limited to 950 words. Both carry school-set internal deadlines and together with the Extended Essay are worth three points.

The Extended Essay

Core

A 4,000-word independent research essay in a chosen subject, supervised in school, with staged internal deadlines for question approval, first draft and final submission. Question scope decides the outcome before any writing begins.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Culture Village families use Diploma support, all delivered one-to-one online over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The format follows where the student sits in the twenty-two months.

Calendar-led weekly support

One hour a week planned against the school's internal deadline calendar rather than the syllabus order, so the work in front of a deadline is the work that deadline needs. This is the format for a student coping but inconsistent, and it keeps the core from being squeezed into a final fortnight.

  • Planned from the school's internal dates, requested in week one
  • Same slot weekly, chosen for the worst normal weekday
  • A written note after each session naming the next milestone
  • Pause a week for mock examinations rather than adding hours into them

Deadline blocks

Short runs of sessions timed to a specific internal deadline: an internally assessed component, an Extended Essay draft, a Theory of Knowledge submission. Bought for a named date and ended when it passes, which is cheaper and more effective than an open arrangement.

  • Booked against one named internal deadline
  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Never writing, restructuring to a standard or supplying argument
  • Ends when the deadline passes rather than renewing by default

Final-term examination technique

Timed papers, command terms and Higher Level Paper 3 practice in mathematics during the last stretch. Worth buying, worth buying less of than instinct suggests, and worth booking in the autumn when slots still exist.

  • Past papers on the exact subject and level, marked to the scheme
  • Command term work using the published glossary
  • A shortening topic list rather than a syllabus review
  • Slot reserved months ahead; the price is the same and the match is better

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Culture Village

01

The twenty-two months, counted backwards

Here is the Diploma written as a countdown rather than a syllabus. The useful direction of travel is from the end, because that is how deadlines actually constrain a student: each one has a latest moment at which work on it can still begin, and those moments stack. A plan built forwards from September keeps discovering that the next thing was due sooner than expected. A plan built backwards from the final paper knows in advance which terms are full.

The structure is stable across schools even though the dates differ. Internally assessed components sit in Year 13, with first drafts usually in the first term. The Extended Essay has staged internal deadlines beginning with question approval late in Year 12. Theory of Knowledge runs across both years with the exhibition and essay in Year 13. Mock examinations fall in Year 13, often immediately after the heaviest internal deadline period, which is why that term is the one that breaks students.

The item most often misplaced is the summer between Year 12 and Year 13. It is the only genuinely clear block in the whole programme: no commute, no competing deadlines, and enough length for sustained work. Families treat it as a holiday and then spend the autumn in overlap. Using even part of it for preliminary Extended Essay reading or Exploration mathematics removes the worst collision in the calendar, and it costs less than the emergency work it replaces.

Dates are deliberately absent from the table below. The IB's own website blocks automated checking, so no session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB directly, and publishing an unverified date on a page a family plans around would be worse than publishing none. Ask your school's IB coordinator for the five internal dates named in the final column.

Internal deadlines beat external dates

  • The IB sets session windows; the school sets everything a tutor can affect
  • Ask for five internal dates: IA deadlines, EE stages, TOK, mocks, predictions
  • Internal assessments are predicted-grade evidence, not rehearsal
  • Deadline weeks cluster across Dubai schools, which is when local supply is thinnest

The IB publishes session windows. The school sets everything else, and everything else is what a tutor can influence. That asymmetry is the single most useful thing to understand about planning Diploma support, and it explains why two families with identical children and identical budgets get different outcomes: one asked for the internal calendar and one planned around the exam.

Five internal dates matter and all five are free to obtain. The deadline for each subject's internally assessed component. The staged Extended Essay dates, beginning with question approval. The Theory of Knowledge essay and exhibition submission dates. The mock examination weeks. And the point at which the school assembles predicted-grade evidence. A Culture Village parent who emails the IB coordinator for those five has done more for the outcome than a month of tuition typically achieves.

The predicted-grade point deserves separate emphasis because it reframes everything. Predictions come from the school, from the school's own evidence, and university offers rest on them. The external examination happens afterwards. That makes internal assessments evidence rather than practice, and it means money spent before the predictions buys two outcomes while money spent after buys one. A student treating a mock as a rehearsal has misread what the school is doing with it.

There is an operational reason this matters for a visiting arrangement in particular. Internal deadlines cluster at the same time across Dubai schools, because cohorts move through the programme together, and that is exactly when a tutor bounded by driving distance is least likely to have availability and hardest to replace. An online match can be made or changed inside the same week. The calendar argument and the delivery argument are the same argument.

03

The core, milestone by milestone

Three of the forty-five points sit on two written components, and both fail in ways that are visible months before the deadline. The Extended Essay is limited to 4,000 words and fails most often on question scope: a question that cannot be answered in that space produces a final fortnight spent cutting argument, and the criteria reward focus and method heavily. The Theory of Knowledge essay is limited to 1,600 words and fails most often by answering an adjacent question rather than the prescribed title as written.

Both failures are cheap to prevent and expensive to repair, which makes the core the clearest argument for a calendar-led plan. Two or three conversations at the question stage in Year 12 protect the Extended Essay. One session taking a prescribed title apart clause by clause protects the Theory of Knowledge essay. Twenty hours of editing in Year 13 protects neither, because by then the structural decision has been made and the criteria are judging that decision.

The Theory of Knowledge exhibition is a separate milestone and often the most rushed. Three objects with a commentary limited to 950 words means roughly three hundred words per object, so object choice does most of the work. A student who picks three objects that genuinely illustrate different aspects of a prompt writes a tight commentary. A student who picks three convenient objects writes three descriptions and scores accordingly.

The boundary on all core support needs stating before any of it begins. A tutor may question a research question, explain what a criterion rewards, and comment on the student's own draft. A tutor may not produce the essay, restructure it to a standard, or supply the argument. The school supervisor remains the supervisor. Providers in this market sell completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price, which is a malpractice trigger whose consequence falls on the candidate.

04

What each missed window actually costs

  • A badly scoped Extended Essay question cannot be repaired, only restarted
  • An internal assessment started late caps its own mark through thin evaluation
  • A missed fortnight of content is the cheapest thing on this list to fix
  • Work before the predicted-grade point buys two outcomes; work after buys one

Every window in the calendar has a price for missing it, and the prices are uneven. Understanding which ones are expensive changes how a Culture Village family allocates both attention and money, because the instinct is to worry most about the final term, which is in fact the window with the least left to lose.

The most expensive miss is the Extended Essay question. A badly scoped question cannot be repaired without starting again, and starting again in Year 13 is not practically available. The second most expensive is the internally assessed component started too late to be evaluated properly, because the criteria in every science reward evaluation substantially and a thin evaluation section caps the mark regardless of how good the experiment was. Both are matters of weeks, not hours, and both are visible in advance.

The cheapest miss is a single week of content teaching, which is also the thing families panic about most. Content can be caught up; a student who missed a fortnight of organic chemistry has a definable gap that a specialist closes in a few sessions. A student who missed the window for scoping an Extended Essay question has a structural problem that no number of sessions fixes. The asymmetry runs in exactly the opposite direction to most families' anxiety.

The middle case is the predicted-grade window, and it is the one where good information changes behaviour most. Because predictions are drawn from internal evidence partway through Year 13, work done before that point affects both the offer and the grade. Work done after affects the grade alone. Same hours, same rate, one outcome instead of two. Asking the school when predictions are assembled costs an email.

Home tutoring in Culture Village, and the calendar reason we do not offer it

  • Published in-home rates: AED 180-350 Bestimate, AED 200-500 home providers
  • Qualified online: AED 150-300; Unitors lists IB from AED 200
  • Internal deadline weeks cluster across Dubai, which is when local supply is thinnest
  • A visiting tutor genuinely suits younger students; it rarely suits a Year 13 candidate

Home tuition is a genuine option in this market and the prices are published. In-home one-to-one rates run from AED 180 to AED 350 on Bestimate's table and from AED 200 to AED 500 from home-tutor providers. Monthly in-home packages of AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour sessions circulate. Against that, a qualified subject tutor working online in Dubai is quoted at roughly AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors listing IB from AED 200, and specialists from AED 200 to AED 450 and above with TutorChase at AED 270.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in Culture Village or anywhere else in the UAE. Tuition for UAE families is one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time, and home visiting is a service we operate only in India. The usual argument for that is price and pool size, both of which are real. The calendar argument is less often made and matters more for the Diploma specifically.

Diploma internal deadlines cluster, and they cluster simultaneously across Dubai schools because cohorts progress together. In those weeks demand for subject specialists peaks in the same fortnight, and a tutor bounded by driving distance from Jaddaf Waterfront is both least likely to have a free slot and hardest to replace if the match is not working. Replacement inside the same week is possible only when the pool is national, and the week it matters is the week everything else is also happening.

There are cases where a visiting tutor is the right purchase, and they are worth naming honestly: a younger or easily distracted student who needs an adult present, primary work with physical materials, or a household with unreliable connectivity. A Year 13 Diploma candidate working on an internally assessed component three weeks before a school deadline is not one of them, and for that student the premium buys logistics rather than learning.

06

Culture Village's schools and the evening the calendar leaves

  • No private school sits inside Culture Village; all secondary pupils commute
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai in neighbouring Al Jaddaf is the closest IB provision
  • Dubai 2024-25: 227 private schools, 387,441 students, IB at 7% of enrolment
  • Short runs make a 16:30 start realistic for the nearest school clusters

Culture Village is Jaddaf Waterfront: Dubai Wharf and the Creek-side towers, compact, with no private school inside the community. Every secondary pupil travels out, and the destinations are close by Dubai standards. Swiss International Scientific School Dubai sits in neighbouring Al Jaddaf running IB programmes. Across the Creek, Dubai Festival City holds further international provision. South along Al Khail Road sit Sobha Hartland, Mohammed Bin Rashid City, Meydan and Nad Al Sheba.

Because the nearest destinations are short runs, Culture Village is better placed than most Dubai districts for an early session. A student at a school in Al Jaddaf or across in Festival City is often home in time for a 16:30 start, which is the difference between a session that works and one that runs on fumes. A student travelling to Sobha Hartland is realistically 17:00, and to Nad Al Sheba 17:15 or later, at which point a weekend block is the better instrument for deadline work.

The Dubai context is worth one paragraph. KHDA reported 227 private schools serving 387,441 students in 2024-25 across seventeen curricula, with the International Baccalaureate at seven per cent of enrolment against thirty-seven per cent on UK curricula. Seven new private schools join for the 2026-27 intake, three of them IB, creating 16,846 new places, and KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that fees would not rise for that academic year.

The practical consequence of an expanding but still small IB share is that specialist supply lags locally while demand clusters in the same deadline weeks. For a Culture Village family that is the whole case for a national pool reached by live video: not that it is cheaper, though it is, but that it is available in the fortnight when everything is due at once.

07

The academic honesty line, and what happens to a draft

  • Deadline pressure is when the honesty line gets tested, so we set it out first
  • Criterion marking of the student's own draft is the most valuable late-stage help
  • Producing or restructuring assessed work transfers the risk to the candidate
  • A session note records whose work was in front of us at each session

Because this page is built around deadlines, the honesty line needs setting out plainly: pressure near a deadline is exactly when it gets tested. Work submitted for IB assessment must be the student's own. A tutor who produces, completes, substantially rewrites or supplies any part of an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or internally assessed component creates a malpractice exposure for the candidate, and a finding can cost a Diploma.

The legitimate version is also the more useful version. A tutor can mark a student's own draft against the published criteria, which is the single most valuable thing available three weeks before a deadline. A tutor can explain what a criterion is asking for when the wording is opaque, which it frequently is. A tutor can model an evaluation or a reflection on an unrelated investigation and hand the student's own work back untouched. A tutor can teach referencing properly, which prevents more honesty cases than warnings do.

Providers in this market advertise completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price. The advertising omits that the consequence falls on the sixteen or seventeen-year-old rather than on the seller. No deadline is worth that, and a family under time pressure deserves to be told so by the person they are paying rather than discovering it afterwards.

On materials, IB, Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade boundary tables are copyright works. We reference and link them from the organisation's own site rather than reproducing or supplying them. We keep a short session note recording what was covered and whose work was in front of us, which is the document a parent can hand to a school if a question is ever raised.

08

Getting started, with the calendar in hand

  • Ask the IB coordinator for five internal dates; the email is free
  • Send subject, level, the component in progress, its deadline and two windows
  • One free trial lesson per student, with no payment or card details beforehand
  • Book before the deadline cluster; same price, better match

Begin with the email that costs nothing. Ask your school's IB coordinator for five dates: the internal deadline for each subject's assessed component, the staged Extended Essay dates, the Theory of Knowledge essay and exhibition dates, the mock examination weeks, and the point at which predicted-grade evidence is assembled. Those five turn a vague worry into a plan, and they are the difference between buying hours and buying outcomes.

Then send us the subject and level, which component is in progress, the internal deadline for it, and two evening windows that genuinely work from Culture Village after the school run. We match a subject specialist and run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep. One trial per student, nothing charged beforehand, no card details needed to book it, and the tutor writes a short note on what they found and which deadline they would work to first.

If no specialist is free in your window we say so, give a realistic wait, and offer the nearest honest alternative rather than placing whoever is available. Scarcity concentrates in Higher Level sciences and mathematics, and in the deadline weeks themselves. Booking a slot before the cluster arrives costs exactly the same and secures a materially better match, which in a calendar-driven plan is the single largest free improvement available.

Two limits stated plainly. Nobody can promise a grade or a point total and this page does not. And nothing here implies that tutoring is required for the Diploma to be awarded, for university admission or for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency; those are institutional and regulatory processes with their own published rules, and the authority rather than any tutoring provider is where to verify them. IB Gram holds no approval from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson.

Where we tutor

Culture Village and the districts its Diploma students travel to

Culture Village is Jaddaf Waterfront, Creek-side and compact, with no private school inside it. These are the districts its students travel to and what each does to a weekday session.

Culture Village

Dubai Wharf and the Jaddaf Waterfront towers along the Creek, with no private school inside the community. Journeys are short in every direction, so a 16:30 session start is realistic for most households.

Al Jaddaf

Immediately adjacent, with Swiss International Scientific School Dubai in the district and Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2 alongside. The nearest IB provision to Culture Village and the shortest routine run of all.

Dubai Creek Harbour

Across the water on the Ras Al Khor side, also without a school inside the community. Students from both districts commute to the same clusters, so the two neighbourhoods behave similarly on timing.

Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

A short run along the Creek with no large private secondary school in either district. Many Culture Village parents work here and take the free trial from an office before fixing a family slot.

Sobha Hartland and Mohammed Bin Rashid City

North London Collegiate School Dubai and Hartland International School sit south along Al Khail Road. The school-run hour there pushes a realistic session to 17:00 for Culture Village pupils enrolled at those schools.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

GEMS Modern Academy and neighbouring schools. The longest routine commute from Culture Village, where internal deadline weeks are best handled with a weekend block rather than extra weekday hours.

Dubai Festival City

Universal American School Dubai and Deira International School across the Creek. Close in distance and dependent on a single crossing, so a planned slot survives most days and not all.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Culture Village

Culture Village, Al Jaddaf and the Creek

The closest cluster to Culture Village, with Swiss International Scientific School Dubai in neighbouring Al Jaddaf running IB programmes and further international provision across the Creek in Dubai Festival City. Short journeys make early weekday sessions available, which matters when an internal deadline week arrives.

  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Al Khail Road south

Sobha Hartland, Meydan and Nad Al Sheba, where several schools run the IB Diploma and the Middle Years Programme. Culture Village families enrolled here get home late enough that we usually recommend weekend blocks around internal deadlines rather than additional weekday sessions.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Get the five internal dates

Each subject's internally assessed component deadline, the staged Extended Essay dates, the Theory of Knowledge essay and exhibition dates, the mock weeks, and when predicted-grade evidence is assembled. The IB publishes none of these; the school sets all of them, and all are free to ask for.

  2. 02

Count backwards, then mark the full terms

Work from the final paper to today and the crowded terms become obvious a year in advance. The term containing internal assessment drafts, the Extended Essay deadline and mocks is the one that breaks students, and it can be relieved before it arrives.

  3. 03

Use the summer between the years

The only genuinely clear block in the programme: no commute, no competing deadlines. Preliminary Extended Essay reading and preliminary Exploration mathematics belong here. Families treat it as a holiday and then spend the autumn in overlap, which is more expensive in every sense.

  4. 04

Protect the three core points early

An Extended Essay question tested for scope in Year 12, and a Theory of Knowledge prescribed title taken apart clause by clause. Two or three sessions and one session respectively. No subject on the board offers that ratio of points protected to hours spent.

  5. 05

    Buy blocks against named deadlines

A short run of sessions booked for one internal deadline and ended when it passes. It costs less than an open weekly arrangement, it is measurable, and it prevents the renewal-by-default that makes a Diploma budget grow without anybody deciding that it should.

Spend before the predictions, then taper

Money spent before predicted-grade evidence is assembled affects both the offer and the final grade. Money spent after affects the grade alone. Same rate, one outcome instead of two, which is why the final term should be lighter than instinct suggests.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We plan from the internal calendar

The IB sets session windows and the school sets everything a tutor can influence. Asking for the five internal dates in week one does more for the outcome than a month of tuition typically achieves, and no other page in this market tells a parent to do it.

The core gets protected first

Three points sit on two documents that fail predictably: an Extended Essay question too broad for 4,000 words, and a Theory of Knowledge essay answering an adjacent question. A handful of early sessions protects both, and twenty hours of late editing protects neither.

Honest about home visits and about why

IB Gram makes no UAE home visits, and we give the calendar reason rather than only the price one. Deadline weeks cluster across Dubai schools, which is precisely when a tutor bounded by driving distance has no slot and is hardest to replace.

No dates we could not verify

No IB session or results date appears on this page. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so nothing in this project is confirmed from the IB directly, and an unverified date is something a family would build a term and a budget around.

Blocks with named endpoints

Sessions bought against one internal deadline and ended when it passes. It is less revenue than an open weekly arrangement and it is measurable, which is the only way to tell whether the previous block was worth what it cost.

The honesty line set before the pressure

Criterion marking of the student's own draft, criteria explained, evaluation modelled on unrelated material. Never producing, restructuring or supplying assessed work. Stated at the start, because three weeks before a deadline is when it gets tested.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Culture Village: your questions answered

Which IB dates actually matter for planning tutoring in Culture Village?+

The internal ones, almost entirely. The IB publishes session windows; your school sets the deadline for each subject's internally assessed component, the staged Extended Essay dates, the Theory of Knowledge essay and exhibition dates, the mock examination weeks, and the point at which predicted-grade evidence is assembled. Those five govern everything a tutor can influence and all five are free to obtain from the IB coordinator. A plan built from the external session date is built from the one item a tutor affects least.

Why does the Diploma need planning twenty-two months ahead?+

Because the expensive failures are structural and visible in advance. An Extended Essay question too broad to answer in 4,000 words cannot be repaired in Year 13, only restarted, which is not practically available. An internally assessed component started too late is capped by a thin evaluation section whatever the quality of the work. Both are matters of weeks rather than hours, and both are knowable a year out. Content gaps, which families worry about most, are the cheapest item on the list to fix.

When are IB predicted grades decided, and why does it change spending?+

They are produced by the school, from the school's own evidence, partway through Year 13, and university offers rest on them. The external examination comes afterwards. That makes internal assessments evidence rather than rehearsal, and it means an hour bought before the predictions affects both the offer and the final grade while the same hour bought afterwards affects only the grade. Same rate, one outcome instead of two. Ask the school when predictions are assembled; it costs an email.

What should my child be doing in the summer between Year 12 and Year 13?+

Preliminary reading for the Extended Essay and preliminary mathematics for an Exploration, if either applies. That summer is the only genuinely clear block in the whole programme: no commute, no competing deadlines, and enough length for sustained thinking. Families treat it as a holiday and then spend the autumn with the Extended Essay draft, the first internal assessments and new content all overlapping. Using even part of it removes the worst collision in the calendar and costs less than the emergency work it replaces.

How early should the Extended Essay research question be settled?+

Subject by the middle of Year 12 and question tested for scope by the end of it. The limit is 4,000 words and the dominant failure is a question that cannot be answered in that space, which produces a final fortnight spent cutting argument when the criteria reward focus and method heavily. Two or three conversations at the question stage protect the component. Twenty hours of editing later does not, because the structural decision has already been made and the criteria are judging it.

What makes the Theory of Knowledge exhibition go wrong?+

Object choice, almost always. The commentary is limited to 950 words across three objects, so each object gets roughly three hundred words, and a student who picks three convenient objects writes three descriptions. A student who picks three that genuinely illustrate different aspects of the prompt writes a tight argument instead. One session spent testing candidate objects against the prompt before anything is written does most of the work, and it belongs well before the school's submission date.

Can we get a tutor who comes to our apartment in Culture Village?+

Not from IB Gram. We deliver one-to-one tuition for UAE families online over live video on Gulf Standard Time and send no tutors to UAE addresses; home visiting is a service we operate only in India. Dubai agencies that do visit publish rates of roughly AED 180 to AED 350 on Bestimate's table and AED 200 to AED 500 from home-tutor providers. Beyond price, the calendar reason matters: internal deadlines cluster across Dubai schools, which is exactly when a locally bounded tutor has no free slot.

Which internal deadline week is the hardest one in the Diploma?+

The term in Year 13 that carries internal assessment drafts, the Extended Essay deadline and mock examinations, usually in that order and often within a few weeks of each other. It is also the term during which predicted-grade evidence is being assembled, which raises the stakes on everything in it. It is entirely predictable from the school's calendar a year in advance, and relieving it means moving work earlier rather than buying more hours once it has arrived.

Is the final term before the exams worth heavy tutoring spend?+

Worth some, and less than instinct suggests. By then the internally assessed components are submitted and moderated, the core is in, and the predictions are issued, so the only remaining lever is examination performance. That is real and worth supporting with timed papers and command-term work. But it is one lever rather than all of them, and the same money spent two terms earlier would have moved both the grade and the offer. Book the final-term slot early; the price is identical and the match is better.

Why does this page avoid giving the May session dates?+

Because they could not be verified from the IB itself, whose website blocks automated checking. No IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB directly, and an unverified date on a page a family plans a term of revision and a budget around is worse than no date at all. UAE schools sit the main May session. Your school's IB coordinator holds the authoritative calendar, along with the internal deadlines that matter more to a plan than the external ones.

How does a tutor help three weeks before an internal assessment deadline?+

By marking the student's own draft against the published criteria, which is the most valuable thing available at that point, and by explaining what a criterion is asking for when the wording is opaque. A tutor can also model an evaluation or a reflection on an unrelated investigation. What a tutor cannot do is produce the work, restructure it to a standard or supply the argument, and deadline pressure is exactly when that line gets tested. We keep a note of whose work was in front of us.

Does CAS really affect the calendar, given it is not graded?+

It can delay a Diploma, which makes it a calendar item even though tutoring does not touch it. Creativity, Activity, Service is a completion requirement with school-scheduled interviews and at least one project, and it is routinely treated as optional until it becomes urgent. The planning point is to keep the interview dates visible, so a term already carrying an internal assessment deadline and an Extended Essay draft does not also acquire a CAS catch-up that nobody scheduled.

Which schools do Culture Village Diploma students attend?+

No private school sits inside Culture Village itself. Swiss International Scientific School Dubai is in neighbouring Al Jaddaf and runs IB programmes, which makes it the closest provision. Across the Creek, Universal American School Dubai and Deira International School sit in Dubai Festival City. South along Al Khail Road, North London Collegiate School Dubai and Hartland International School serve Sobha Hartland, with GEMS Modern Academy in Nad Al Sheba. Schools are named as market context only, with no affiliation implied.

What time can a Culture Village student realistically start a session?+

Often 16:30 if the school is in Al Jaddaf or across the Creek in Dubai Festival City, because those are short runs from Jaddaf Waterfront. A student travelling to Sobha Hartland is realistically 17:00 and one commuting to Nad Al Sheba 17:15 or later. Choose the slot for the worst normal weekday rather than the best. Where the commute is long and an internal deadline is close, a weekend block does more than two extra weekday evenings would.

Does IB Gram hold IB or KHDA authorisation?+

No. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from the International Baccalaureate, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson. KHDA is Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority, responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate; it regulates and inspects schools, and an inspection rating judges a school rather than any tutor. A KHDA Educational Services Permit applies to training institutes with premises and staff, and we have no UAE premises.

Ask for five dates, then count backwards

If you are looking for an IB home tutor in Culture Village, the most valuable thing you can do this week costs nothing: ask the IB coordinator for the internal assessment deadlines, the staged Extended Essay dates, the Theory of Knowledge dates, the mock weeks and when predicted grades are assembled. Then send us the subject, the level, the component in progress and its deadline, with two evening windows that work after the Creek-side school run. We will match a specialist, run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep, and plan the term from your school's calendar rather than from an exam date we could not verify.
