IB Physics Tutor in The Springs

An IB Physics tutor in The Springs costs somewhere between AED 150 and AED 450 an hour at Dubai market rates, and the gap between those two numbers is almost never about teaching quality. This page sets out what families around Emirates Living actually pay, what each band buys, and the three places the money quietly disappears. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so a Springs household books the Physics specialist it needs rather than the one living two roundabouts away.

IB & IGCSE in The Springs

The cost of IB Physics help in The Springs, before anyone quotes you a number

Ask five providers what an IB Physics tutor in The Springs costs and you will get five answers spread across a factor of ten. Budget online platforms advertise from the low double figures in AED per hour. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table puts in-home one-to-one work at AED 180 to 350 and subject specialists at AED 200 to 450 and above. One UK agency publishes AED 270 for its UAE work. A named-examiner service in Dubai publishes AED 650. None of those figures is a lie, and none of them tells you what your child's Physics problem will cost to fix.

The reason is that Physics does not fail in one place. A Springs student can be fluent in kinematics and unable to read a gradient off a log plot. Another can handle every calculation in Theme A and lose eleven marks across Paper 2 because nobody ever showed them what the command term 'deduce' requires that 'state' does not. A third has a scientific investigation due in eleven weeks with no measurable variable chosen yet. Those are three different jobs, needing three different numbers of hours, and a rate card cannot separate them.

So this page is built the other way around. It starts from the assessment, because the assessment decides where hours are worth buying. It then puts real AED bands next to the three jobs a Physics tutor is usually hired for, names the three ways families around Emirates Living spend money without moving a grade, and finishes with what happens when a household decides to start. Every figure carries the source it came from and the date it was published.

The delivery model is worth stating before the prices, because it changes the arithmetic. IB Gram does not send a tutor to a Springs townhouse or to any other UAE address; in-home visiting is a service we run only in India. Physics support for families here is one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around the school run. That removes the travel component that in-home Dubai rates carry, and it widens the pool from whoever is free in Emirates Living to whoever actually teaches Diploma Physics well.

The Springs sits inside the densest private-school market in the country. KHDA counted 387,441 students across 227 private schools in Dubai in 2024-25, with 17 different curricula licensed and the International Baccalaureate holding seven per cent of that enrolment. Seven per cent of a market that size is a lot of Diploma students and a small, over-subscribed group of people who teach Physics at Higher Level. That scarcity, not the cost of an hour, is what makes Physics the subject families struggle to resource locally.

At a glance

  • Market rate for a Dubai subject specialist: AED 200-450+ per hour (Bestimate, 2026)
  • In-home one-to-one, including the tutor's travel: AED 180-350 per hour (same source)
  • Paper 2 carries 44% of the Physics grade at both SL and HL
  • The scientific investigation is capped at 3,000 words and marked out of 24
  • KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that Dubai private school fees do not rise for 2026-27
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Physics sits in a programme, and the programme decides what a tutor is actually being asked to do. These are the four stages a Springs family passes through, with what each one costs in support hours rather than in fees.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme

Sciences in the MYP is marked against four criteria lettered A to D, each scored one to eight, with no external paper until the optional eAssessment at the end of MYP 5. Physics content appears inside integrated science units rather than as a separate subject, so a student can arrive in DP1 having never written a full physics derivation.

Emirates International School Meadows runs the IB continuum on the doorstep of The Springs, which means a sizeable group of local children meet criterion-based science marking years before they meet a Physics paper. Support at this stage is cheap in hours and disproportionately useful, because it is where measurement, uncertainty and graph work are either learned or quietly skipped.

DPAges 16-19 · DP1 and DP2

Diploma Programme Physics

The current Physics guide organises content into five themes: space, time and motion; the particulate nature of matter; wave behaviour; fields; and nuclear and quantum physics. Assessment is Paper 1 at 36%, Paper 2 at 44% and the internal assessment at 20%, with Higher Level sitting longer papers over additional higher-level-only content.

This is the stage where Springs families start searching. Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills and Emirates International School Meadows both run the Diploma, and the common pattern is a student who chose Physics HL on the strength of an MYP science grade and met the fields and quantum material without the mathematics to carry it. Confirm which guide version your child is entered for with their DP coordinator.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE and International GCSE Physics

Most British-curriculum schools around Emirates Living run Cambridge Physics 0625 or the Pearson Edexcel equivalent, tiered into Core and Extended at Cambridge with a practical or alternative-to-practical component. It is the qualification that decides whether Physics HL is a realistic Diploma choice two years later.

Regent International School and Dubai British School Emirates Hills take a large share of Springs children through IGCSE. A grade 6 at Extended level is the usual signal that Physics SL will be comfortable and Physics HL will need deliberate mathematical support from the first week of DP1 rather than from the first mock.

ALAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

A Level Physics as the alternative route

Several campuses in the second ring around The Springs offer A Level rather than the Diploma. A Level Physics goes deeper into fewer topics and carries no equivalent of the Diploma's internal assessment weighting, which changes both the revision shape and the amount of supervision a student needs outside lessons.

Worth naming on a cost page because the two routes need different numbers of hours. A Level Physics support tends to cluster into pre-exam blocks; Diploma Physics support spreads across two years because the investigation, the themes and the mathematics all mature at different speeds.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Physics is the page, but almost no Springs household buys one subject. These are the courses most often added to a Physics booking, with the specific thing each one tends to need.

Physics

DP HL and SL

Five themes, two written papers and a 3,000-word scientific investigation. Marks are lost most reliably in uncertainty propagation, in field-line reasoning, and in extended-response questions where the answer is right and the reasoning is not shown.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The usual companion booking for a Physics HL student. Calculus fluency, not algebraic neatness, is what decides whether a Physics derivation is readable. Students who take Applications and Interpretations alongside Physics HL need the gap closed early.

Chemistry

DP HL and SL

Shares the same assessment shape as Physics, including the 20% investigation, so one tutor can often coach both internal assessments through the same criteria. Energetics and equilibrium are where the overlap with Physics thinking is strongest.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Chosen by students who want the statistics and modelling route. It is a legitimate pairing with Physics SL. Paired with Physics HL it leaves a measurable calculus gap that shows up in Theme D.

Biology

DP HL and SL

The third science in most Springs timetables. Its investigation is judged on the same four criteria as Physics, which means a student juggling two science investigations has one skill to learn, not two.

Computer Science

DP HL and SL

Frequently added by Physics students aiming at engineering. The internal assessment is a developed product with documentation, so the supervision load lands in a different term from the Physics investigation.

Design Technology

DP HL and SL

Overlaps with Physics in mechanics and materials. Its coursework is substantial and runs long, so families pairing it with Physics HL should plan the calendar before booking hours.

Extended Essay in Physics

Core, 4,000 words

A popular choice for strong Physics students and a difficult one, because a measurable, repeatable experiment is harder to design than a reading-based question. Supervision is feedback on the student's own drafts, never drafting.

Theory of Knowledge

Core, 1,600-word essay

The core element Physics students most often underestimate. It asks for argument rather than calculation, and a 1,600-word limit punishes the habit of writing everything known about a topic.

Arabic as an additional language

KHDA mandatory stream

Required in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum. It sits outside the IB grade but inside the weekly timetable, and it competes for exactly the hours a Physics student wants for revision.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways a Springs family can buy Physics hours, with the cost consequence of each stated plainly rather than implied.

Weekly one-to-one Physics, online

The default. One 60 or 90-minute live video session each week through the term, with the student's own school materials on screen. The tutor works from the school's scheme of work and the student's last assessment rather than from a generic syllabus march. This is the format that fits around an Emirates Living school run without adding travel time to either side.

  • Session length chosen by stage: 60 minutes to MYP 5, 90 from DP1
  • No travel cost built into the hour
  • Written notes and worked solutions retained after each session
  • Rescheduling handled directly with the tutor

Investigation and Extended Essay supervision blocks

A short, dated block of sessions attached to the scientific investigation or a Physics Extended Essay, usually four to six hours spread across the drafting window. The tutor reads the student's own work and gives feedback against the published criteria. The student designs, collects, analyses and writes; the tutor asks the questions a supervisor asks.

  • Feedback against Research design, Data analysis, Conclusion and Evaluation
  • Written work stays the student's own throughout
  • Timed to the school's internal deadline, not ours
  • Costed as a block so the budget is known in advance

Pre-session intensive before a May series

A compressed run of sessions in the weeks before the examination series, aimed at paper technique rather than content coverage. Past-paper work under timed conditions, command-term drilling, and a worked diagnosis of which theme is bleeding marks. Students who have kept up all year get more from this than students using it to learn the course.

  • Two or three sessions a week for a fixed number of weeks
  • Diagnosis first: a marked paper before any teaching
  • Official past material referenced through the school, never redistributed
  • Clear end date so the cost does not drift

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in The Springs

01

What an IB Physics tutor costs around The Springs, in AED and with sources

Dubai market rates for Physics tuition run from roughly AED 45 an hour at the budget end to AED 650 for a named-examiner service. The useful part of that range for a Diploma Physics student is narrower. Published 2026 rate tables for Dubai put qualified subject tutors working online at AED 150 to 300, in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 once travel is priced in, and IB or A Level specialists at AED 200 to 450 and above. One UK-based agency publishes AED 270 for its UAE tutoring. A Dubai premium service publishes AED 650 for examiner-led work.

Those bands behave differently at the two ends. Below about AED 150 an hour you are usually buying a university student who knows the physics and has never seen an IB mark scheme. That is adequate for homework rescue and poor value for Paper 2 technique, because the thing being bought is content the student can already read in a textbook. Above about AED 450 the premium is being charged for examiner adjacency rather than for teaching hours, and examiner status cannot legitimately be sold as access to marking, boundaries or paper content.

The middle band is where Diploma Physics work actually sits, and the honest answer to 'how much will this cost' is a number of hours multiplied by a rate, not a rate alone. A student who needs Paper 2 technique for a May series typically needs twelve to twenty sessions. A student rebuilding Theme D from scratch needs more. A student who needs the investigation steered to a defensible research question needs four to six. Multiply before you compare providers.

IB Gram does not publish an hourly price list on these pages, because the rate depends on the tutor matched and the subject level. What we publish is the market context above, the free trial lesson that precedes any payment, and the consultation where the hours are estimated out loud. Any figure on this page is a market rate from a named published source, not a quotation from us.

The three places Physics money disappears in Emirates Living

  • Ask for a marked diagnostic before agreeing to a block of hours
  • Group rates are cheaper per hour and often dearer per mark
  • Higher Level Physics availability tightens from January onwards
  • A written list of the three weaknesses being worked on is a reasonable thing to expect

The first leak is buying content when the problem is technique. A Springs parent sees a 4 in a Physics mock and books twenty hours of teaching through the themes. The student already knew most of it; the marks were lost because 'explain' answers were written as 'describe' answers, because uncertainties were quoted to four significant figures, and because the final two questions on Paper 2 were never reached. Twenty hours of re-teaching produces a student who knows the course slightly better and scores the same. The diagnostic that would have found this costs one session.

The second leak is group classes bought at a per-head rate that looks efficient. Small-group science in Dubai is advertised widely and it works for structured content delivery. It does not work for a student whose problem is specific, because a group moves at the median and Physics failures are rarely median. A household paying a reduced group rate for sixteen weeks often pays more in total than one that bought eight properly targeted individual sessions, and the grade movement is smaller.

The third leak is starting late and paying the panic premium. Rates in this market do firm up as a series approaches, and availability for Higher Level Physics thins first. A family that books in October has a choice of specialists at the standard band. A family that books in late February is choosing from whoever is left, often at the top of the range, and buying hours that have to carry both content repair and paper technique at once. The calendar section below counts this backwards so the decision can be made early.

There is a fourth pattern worth naming because it is not a leak at all. Families who buy fewer hours than they expected to, after a diagnostic, frequently get better results than families who buy a large block up front. The reason is dull: targeted work on three known weaknesses moves more marks than general improvement across a course a student mostly knows.

03

Where the Physics grade actually sits: papers, weightings and hours

Spending decisions get easier once the assessment is on the table. In the current Diploma Physics guide, Paper 1 carries 36% of the grade, Paper 2 carries 44%, and the internal assessment carries 20%, at both Standard and Higher Level. Paper 1 splits into a multiple-choice section and a data-based section. Paper 2 is short and extended response. Higher Level sits longer papers covering the additional higher-level content inside each of the five themes. Confirm the version and the timings for your child's cohort with their Diploma coordinator before planning around them.

Read that weighting as a budget. Paper 2 is the single largest block of marks on the course, and it is the component most responsive to tutoring, because extended response is a trainable skill with a vocabulary. The internal assessment is a fifth of the grade, is completed months before the examinations, and is the component where a student has the most control. Paper 1 rewards breadth and speed and is the hardest to move quickly with extra hours.

The practical consequence for a Springs household is a spending order rather than a spending total. Secure the investigation first, because it is worth 20% and it has a deadline that does not move. Then put the bulk of weekly hours into Paper 2 technique across the themes the student is weakest in. Treat Paper 1 as something maintained with timed practice rather than taught. A plan built in that order tends to need fewer total hours than one built by walking through the syllabus from Theme A.

The investigation deserves its own note, since it is where the 20% is won or lost quietly. It is a single report with a 3,000-word ceiling, judged against four criteria worth six marks each: research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Students lose marks in research design more than anywhere else, usually by choosing a question with no genuinely controllable independent variable. That is a one-session conversation in September and an unfixable problem in March.

Tutoring cost in context: school fees, the fee freeze and a two-year Physics plan

Tutoring is a line in a household education budget that already has a much larger line in it. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai will not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a Springs family, that freeze is the reason a tutoring decision this year is a decision about new money rather than about absorbing a fee increase.

Put a Physics plan against that. A weekly 90-minute session at the mid band of the market runs into a monthly figure in the hundreds of dirhams; published monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions in Dubai sit at AED 240 to 600 for budget provision, AED 600 to 1,200 for mid-range and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support. Monthly packages advertised in this market include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

The two-year shape matters more than the monthly number. DP1 Physics support is cheap and preventive: fortnightly sessions, an early investigation conversation, and a mathematics check. DP2 support is expensive and corrective: weekly sessions, a paper-technique block, and whatever the investigation did not get done. Families who spend modestly in DP1 generally spend less in total, because the expensive work is the work that has to be done against a deadline.

Dubai's school sector is also still growing, which affects availability rather than price. Seven new private schools open for the 2026-27 intake, four British-curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, adding 16,846 places; six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose six per cent. More Diploma cohorts mean more demand for the same small group of Higher Level Physics teachers, and that pressure is felt as waiting time, not as a higher advertised rate.

Online or in-home for Physics in The Springs, judged on value rather than preference

The in-home question is the one most Springs parents actually arrive with, so it deserves a straight answer rather than a sales line. In-home one-to-one tuition in Dubai is real, it is widely available, and published rate tables put it at AED 180 to 350 an hour with home tutors advertised up to AED 500. The premium over online work is not a quality premium. It is the cost of the tutor's travel, the vehicle, and the dead time on either side of the lesson, which in practice is charged back inside the hourly rate.

The second cost is invisible and larger. Choosing in-home restricts you to Physics teachers who can reach Emirates Living inside an acceptable drive. In a subject with as thin a specialist pool as Higher Level Physics, that filter removes most of the candidates before quality enters the conversation. A Springs family optimising for a tutor who can park outside is optimising for geography, and geography does not teach fields and quantum physics.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in our India operation. Physics work for Springs households is one-to-one over live video, with a shared screen for diagrams, graph work and marked scripts. For a subject built on annotated diagrams and worked algebra, a shared screen is closer to how a Physics teacher actually works at a whiteboard than a notebook on a kitchen table is.

There is one genuine advantage to a physical presence, and it is worth naming: a younger student who will not sit still is easier to manage in the same room. For a fourteen-year-old on 0625 that can matter. For a seventeen-year-old on Physics HL preparing for a May series, the deciding variable is whether the person on the other side of the session has taught the course and marked to its criteria.

Counting backwards from the series your child is entered for

  • Confirm every IB date with the school's Diploma coordinator, not with a tutoring page
  • Cambridge in the UAE: a June series and a November series, with June entries closing in the spring
  • Pearson November 2026 International GCSE timetable runs to 19 November 2026
  • Ask which of the six Cambridge zones your school is allocated to

Physics spending is time-sensitive in a way most subjects are not, because the investigation has an internal deadline months before the papers. Working backwards from the examination series is the single most useful planning exercise a Springs family can do, and it is the thing no competitor page in this market does at all.

We do not publish IB examination or results dates on these pages. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so every date we could print would be second-hand, and a second-hand date on an examinations page is a liability rather than a service. UAE schools sit the May series as the main session, with November available; the exact windows, the internal upload deadlines and the results dates come from your child's Diploma coordinator, who works to the current official calendar.

Cambridge and Pearson publish their dates openly, and they illustrate how far ahead the real deadlines sit. In the UAE, Cambridge examines International GCSE, O Level and International A Level in a June series and in a November series only, and it allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, so two students in neighbouring Dubai schools can be working to different timetable versions for the same paper. Entries for a June sitting close in the spring, well ahead of the papers, and forecast grades go in before them; the exact day is confirmed on the centre's statement of entry rather than estimated on a page like this one. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November series; the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached them on 22 January 2026.

The operational point for a Physics family is that the entry deadline sits roughly three months before the first paper, and the tutoring decision that matters sits before that again. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that the correct zone timetable must be used, stating that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong version. Ask your school which zone it sits in before you plan a revision calendar around a published timetable.

07

What a Physics tutor may and may not do with an investigation

Spending money on internal assessment support raises a question parents are right to ask, because the answer separates teaching from malpractice. A Physics tutor may explain what each of the four criteria rewards, ask why a variable was chosen, point out that an uncertainty has been quoted without justification, question whether a conclusion is supported by the data, and read a draft the student wrote and say where the reasoning stops. That is supervision, and it is what the 20% component is meant to receive.

A tutor may not choose the research question, design the method, process the data, write any part of the report, or edit a draft into a different piece of work. IB Gram does not provide any of those things and will not take a booking that asks for them. The work has to be the student's own, and a report that is not is an academic-honesty matter for the student with consequences far larger than a Physics grade.

This has a practical cost consequence for a Springs household. Supervision is cheaper than it looks, because it is a small number of well-timed conversations rather than a long block of hours. Four to six sessions spread across the drafting window usually covers the research question, the method review, a first look at the analysis and a final read of the student's own draft. Families who ask for more hours than that are usually asking, without meaning to, for someone else to do the work.

The same boundary applies to a Physics Extended Essay, to Theory of Knowledge and to any school coursework. Official past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and subject guides are not ours to distribute; they belong to the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and the correct route to them is through the school or the board's own site. We reference them and point to them; we do not hand them over.

08

Permits, ethics and the questions that protect your money

A cost page is incomplete without the legal position, because the cheapest tutor in Emirates Living may be the one who should not be teaching your child. Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, it is granted free of charge for two years, and it covers teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time through its app, website and e-services.

Because the permit costs nothing, a tutor without one has no financial excuse. Individuals offering private tutoring without a MoHRE permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published, so no figure should be quoted at you by anyone. Asking whether a tutor holds a current permit is a reasonable question and a cheap piece of due diligence.

There is a second rule that catches a common Springs arrangement. Abu Dhabi's ADEK professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff bar teachers from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Verify the current wording against the authority's own policy before relying on it, but the direction is clear: your child's own classroom teacher is the wrong person to hire privately, however convenient the arrangement looks.

One further distinction matters in Dubai specifically. An individual tutor needs the MoHRE permit. A tutoring operation with premises and staff needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a six-month maximum to complete the permit and licence steps, and renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram operates no premises in the UAE, holds no regulator permit of that kind, and does not describe itself as having one.

Starting Physics support from The Springs, and what we will tell you honestly

The order is deliberately boring. You tell us the school, the stage, the level and what the last assessment said. We find a Physics specialist who has taught that course, and you take a free trial lesson before any money is discussed. After the trial, the tutor gives an estimate of hours and a short list of what those hours will work on. If the estimate is smaller than you expected, that is the normal outcome of a diagnostic and not a sales tactic in reverse.

The free trial has one condition worth stating on the same screen: it is one lesson, before a booking, and it is intended to test the match rather than to deliver a course. No card is taken to arrange it. If the match is wrong, say so and we will try a different tutor; if it is wrong again, the honest answer may be that we are not the right provider for that subject at that level.

That last possibility is real and worth putting in writing on a cost page. Higher Level Physics specialists are a small group, and there are weeks in the year when none is free at the hour a Springs family needs. When that happens we say so rather than matching a generalist at a specialist rate. The alternative we offer is a tutor based outside the UAE working on Gulf Standard Time, named as such, with the rate stated before the trial. What we will not do is take the booking and hope.

Lead forms on this page collect a parent's name, contact details, the child's year group, school and subject, for the single purpose of matching a tutor and arranging the trial. Nothing about a child's grades, photograph or school record is required to make an enquiry, and the data can be deleted on request. Our privacy notice is linked from every page and explains what is held and for how long, in line with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on personal data protection.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around The Springs

The Springs sits in the Emirates Living district, and its neighbours share its schools, its road geometry and its tutoring price points. These are the areas we work with on the same terms.

The Meadows

Villas rather than townhouses, immediately north of The Springs across the same internal road network. Shares Emirates International School Meadows and the Emirates Hills campuses, so the Physics cohort is effectively one pool.

The Lakes

Lower density, same school catchment, slightly later school-bus returns on the Al Khail Road routes. Diploma families here tend to book longer single sessions rather than two short ones.

The Views

Apartments overlooking the Emirates Golf Club, closer to Sheikh Zayed Road. A common choice for families whose children attend the Al Sufouh and Al Barsha campuses rather than the Emirates Living ones.

The Greens

Apartment blocks with a younger demographic, mostly MYP and IGCSE rather than Diploma. Physics bookings here are usually 0625 rather than DP, and shorter.

Emirates Hills

Large plots, two IB-continuum campuses on its edge, and the highest concentration of Higher Level science students in this part of Dubai. Also the area where in-home rates quoted locally run hardest against the market bands.

Jumeirah Park and Jumeirah Islands

Across Sheikh Zayed Road, sharing Regent International School and the Dubai British School routes. Session timing is set by bus return rather than by distance.

Al Barsha South and Dubai Hills Estate

The eastward spill from Emirates Living, with newer campuses and a growing Diploma cohort. Families here often start Physics support in DP1 rather than waiting for DP2 mocks.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in The Springs

Emirates Living campuses

The schools that take most Springs children. One runs the IB continuum through to the Diploma and the others are British-curriculum routes into IGCSE, so a single street can hold MYP, Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel physics students at the same stage.

  • Emirates International School Meadows
  • Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills
  • Regent International School
  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills
  • Emirates International School Jumeirah

Al Sufouh, Al Barsha and Al Safa campuses

The second ring, reached along Al Khail Road or Sheikh Zayed Road. These campuses draw Springs students for sixth form and for specific science provision, and their bus routes set the earliest realistic weekday Physics slot.

  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • American School of Dubai
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Jumeirah College
  • Dubai College
  • Raffles World Academy

Schools are named here as local context for families choosing support; IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no affiliation to, endorsement from or contract with any school named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the stage, not the symptom

School, year, programme, level and the last marked assessment. A Springs enquiry that says 'Physics HL at Emirates International School Meadows, 4 in the November mock, investigation not started' can be matched in a single pass. One that says 'needs help with physics' takes three.

  2. 02

    Diagnostic before hours

The first working session is a marked piece of the student's own Physics work, read against the criteria or the mark scheme. It produces a written list of three things to fix. Everything you spend after that point is aimed at that list rather than at the syllabus in order.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson with the matched tutor

One lesson, no card, no obligation. It exists to test whether the student will talk to this particular person about physics for ninety minutes a week. A tutor who is technically excellent and whom your child will not question is a poor match and an expensive one.

  4. 04

An hours estimate you can argue with

After the trial the tutor says how many sessions the list needs and over what period. You are entitled to push back, to buy half of it, or to start and review in four weeks. An estimate that cannot be questioned is not an estimate.

  5. 05

Review against the list, then stop

Every four to six weeks the three items are checked off or rewritten. When the list is empty the sessions should end rather than renew by default. Tuition that continues because it is in the calendar is the most common way a Dubai household overspends on a subject.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The rates on this page are sourced, not implied

Every AED figure here comes from a published 2026 Dubai rate table or a provider's own published price, and is presented as the market rather than as our quotation. Three of the six best-ranking pages in this market publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars.

Physics specialists rather than general science tutors

A tutor matched for Physics HL has taught the current Diploma Physics guide and marked investigations against its four criteria. A general science tutor can explain the content and cannot usually say why a Paper 2 answer scored four out of seven.

The pool is not limited to Emirates Living

Because sessions run over live video, a Springs student can work with the right Physics teacher rather than the nearest one. In a subject this thinly staffed in Dubai, that difference is larger than any rate difference on this page.

The assessment boundary is stated before you ask

Teaching, review and feedback on the student's own investigation; never drafting, designing or producing it. Two providers ranking in this market sell completed internal assessments. That is an expulsion risk for the student, and we will not take the booking.

Scheduling built around an Emirates Living week

Sessions sit in Gulf Standard Time after the school-bus return, move for Ramadan timings, and pause for study leave if that is what the week needs. No travel is priced into the hour because nobody is driving anywhere.

We say when nobody is available

If no Higher Level Physics specialist is free at the hour you need, you are told that, with the alternative and its rate named before any trial. No competitor page in this market discloses a coverage limit at all.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in The Springs: your questions answered

What should I expect to pay per hour for IB Physics help in The Springs?+

Published 2026 Dubai rate tables put qualified subject tutors working online at AED 150 to 300 an hour and IB or A Level specialists at AED 200 to 450 and above. In-home one-to-one sits higher, at AED 180 to 350, because travel is priced inside the hour. Those are market figures from published sources, not our quotation. What actually decides your total is the number of hours, and that is set by whether the problem is content, paper technique or an unstarted investigation. Take the free trial and ask the tutor for an hours estimate before you compare rates with anyone.

Is Physics more expensive to tutor than other Diploma subjects in Dubai?+

Not by rate, but often by availability. The published AED bands are the same across subjects at the same level. What differs is the size of the specialist pool. Higher Level Physics teachers are a small group in Dubai, and in a market where the International Baccalaureate accounts for seven per cent of a 387,441-student private sector, that scarcity shows up as waiting time and as a thinner choice in February than in October. Families who book Physics support early pay the standard band; families who book late choose from whoever is still free, usually at the top of it.

How many sessions does a Physics HL student in Emirates Living usually need?+

It depends entirely on which component is failing, which is why an estimate without a diagnostic is guesswork. As rough shapes: a scientific investigation steered from a blank page takes four to six sessions across the drafting window. A Paper 2 technique rebuild before a May series takes twelve to twenty. Repairing a whole theme from the ground up takes longer than either. A student who is broadly fine and wants maintenance needs fortnightly contact, not weekly. Ask for the three things being fixed in writing, then count hours against that list rather than against the course.

Why does the investigation matter so much to the money I spend?+

Because it is twenty per cent of the Physics grade, it is finished long before the papers, and it is the component a student controls most. It is one report with a 3,000-word ceiling, judged against four criteria worth six marks each: research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Research design is where marks go missing, usually through a research question with no genuinely controllable independent variable. Fixing that in September costs one conversation. Discovering it in March costs a block of hours and still cannot recover the marks, because the data has already been collected.

Can a cheaper tutor at AED 100 an hour do the job for my child?+

For some jobs, yes. Below roughly AED 150 an hour the Dubai market is mostly university students who know the physics and have not marked to an IB criterion. That is genuinely useful for unblocking homework, for MYP science catch-up, or for drilling Paper 1 speed. It is poor value for Paper 2 extended response, where the skill being bought is knowing what a command term demands, and for investigation supervision, where the skill is reading a draft against published criteria. Match the band to the job rather than to the budget, and the total often comes out lower.

Do you teach Physics at our townhouse in Springs 4?+

No. IB Gram does not send tutors to addresses in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; in-home visiting is a service we run only in India. Physics sessions for Springs households are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with a shared screen for diagrams, graph work and marked scripts. For a subject that lives on annotated diagrams and worked algebra, a shared screen is closer to how a Physics teacher works at a board than a notebook on a dining table is. It also means the tutor is chosen for Physics rather than for proximity to Emirates Living.

Why are in-home Physics rates in Dubai higher if the teaching is the same?+

Because the rate carries the drive. Published Dubai tables put in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour, with some home tutors advertised to AED 500, and the premium over online rates is travel, vehicle and dead time either side of the lesson. There is a second cost that never appears on an invoice: choosing in-home filters the candidate list down to Physics teachers who can reach Emirates Living inside a tolerable drive. In a subject with this small a specialist pool, that filter removes most of the people you actually wanted to consider.

My child scores well in class tests and badly on Paper 2. What is that worth fixing?+

A great deal, because Paper 2 is forty-four per cent of the grade and it is the most trainable component on the course. The pattern you are describing is almost always technique rather than knowledge: answers written to 'describe' when the question says 'explain', reasoning left in the student's head, working not shown, and the last two questions unreached because earlier ones were over-answered. That is a small number of targeted sessions with marked timed practice, not a re-teach of five themes. Insist on a marked diagnostic first so the hours go where the marks are.

Are small-group Physics classes in Dubai better value than one-to-one?+

Per hour, yes. Per mark, usually not. A group moves at its median student, and Physics failures are rarely median: one student cannot propagate uncertainties, another cannot read a field diagram, a third writes extended response as bullet points. A sixteen-week group course at a reduced per-head rate frequently costs a household more in total than eight well-aimed individual sessions, and moves less. Groups do work for structured content coverage where several students genuinely share the same gap. Ask what the group is covering week by week before assuming the saving is real.

When in the Diploma should we start paying for Physics support?+

Earlier and lighter beats later and heavier. DP1 support is preventive and cheap: fortnightly sessions, a mathematics check against the calculus the course assumes, and an early conversation about the investigation's research question. DP2 support is corrective and dear: weekly sessions, a paper-technique block, and whatever the investigation did not get finished. Households that spend modestly through DP1 generally spend less across the two years, because the expensive work is the work that has to be done against a fixed deadline with no room left to move.

Does school fee pressure in Dubai change what tutoring is worth this year?+

It changes the framing. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate do not rise for 2026-27, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a Springs household, that means a tutoring decision this year is about new spending rather than about absorbing a fee increase, which is a cleaner decision to make. It is also a reason to use the school's own after-hours support first: it is already paid for inside fees and is the single most underused resource in this market.

Will you put the Physics exam dates on this page so I can plan?+

No, and the reason is worth knowing. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so any session or results date we printed would be second-hand, and a second-hand date on an examinations page is a liability rather than a service. UAE schools sit the May series as the main session, with November available. The authoritative calendar for your child, including internal upload deadlines, comes from the school's Diploma coordinator. Cambridge and Pearson publish theirs openly, which is why the dates quoted on this page are theirs rather than the IB's.

Can a tutor help with the Physics Extended Essay without crossing a line?+

Yes, within a boundary that should be stated before you book. A tutor can explain what the assessment criteria reward, press on whether a research question is answerable with a measurable experiment, question the method, read drafts the student has written and say where the reasoning fails. A tutor cannot choose the question, design the experiment, process the data or write any part of the essay. We do not offer those things and will not take a booking that asks for them, because the consequence lands on the student and it is far larger than one subject grade.

How do I check that a Physics tutor is allowed to teach privately in the UAE?+

Ask for the permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. Because it costs nothing, a tutor without one has no financial excuse. Operating without it brings fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule has been published, so treat any specific amount quoted at you with scepticism. Ask separately which school a teaching tutor works at.

What happens if no Higher Level Physics specialist is free when we need one?+

You are told that plainly, which is not what this market usually does. Higher Level Physics is a thin pool in Dubai and there are weeks, particularly from January, when nobody is free at a Springs family's preferred hour. In that case we name the options: wait for a slot, take a different time, or work with a specialist based outside the UAE teaching on Gulf Standard Time, identified as such with the rate stated before the free trial. What we will not do is match a general science tutor at a specialist rate and let you discover the difference in a mock.

Start with a number of hours, not a rate card

The useful question for a Springs household is not what a Physics hour costs in Dubai. It is how many hours this particular student needs, aimed at which three weaknesses, and finishing on which date. Tell us the school, the level and what the last marked paper said, and we will match a Physics specialist who has taught that course. The trial lesson is free and takes no card. After it you get an estimate of hours you are welcome to argue with, a short written list of what those hours are for, and a date when the plan should end rather than quietly renew.
