IB Home Tutor in Mudon

Parents searching for an IB home tutor in Mudon are weighing two different things against each other: the tutor who can reach Al Salam or Rahat by five o'clock, and the tutor who has actually taught Physics HL to a Diploma cohort. IB Gram resolves that by teaching one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so a Mudon family chooses the specialist instead of the shortest drive. Lessons are delivered online. IB Gram does not send tutors to residential addresses anywhere in the UAE.

  • One-to-one lessons over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time
  • Market AED rates published on this page with their sources named
  • Tutors teach and give feedback; they never write an Internal Assessment
  • A free trial lesson happens before any payment is taken

IB & IGCSE in Mudon

Mudon, Arabian Ranches 3, and the same answer twice

Mudon sits on the inland side of Al Qudra Road, a Dubai Properties community of villas and townhouses split into Al Salam, Rahat, Arabella, Naseem and Mudon Views. It has a central park, a community centre and no secondary school inside its own gates. That single fact shapes every tutoring decision a Mudon family makes, because the school run already goes outward, and so does the search for help.

Run the same exercise one community over. Arabian Ranches 3 shares the same stretch of Al Qudra Road and the same absence of an on-site Diploma school. Remraam, a few minutes further towards Emirates Road, is apartments rather than villas and a different price bracket entirely. Town Square sits beyond both. Ask each of those four sets of parents where they can find an IB specialist within a twenty-minute drive and the honest answer is the same: not reliably, and not in the subject you need.

This is why the comparison matters more than the geography. A tutor who lives in Motor City can be at a Mudon villa in fifteen minutes on a quiet evening and forty on a bad one. A tutor who has taught Chemistry HL for six Diploma cohorts might live in Mirdif, Sharjah, or outside the country altogether. Choosing by drive time means choosing from whoever happens to be nearby, and in a community this new that pool is thin in exactly the subjects where families need depth: Maths Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, Physics HL, Chemistry HL, Economics HL.

IB Gram takes the other side of that trade. Lessons run one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time, so a session can start at 4.30pm or 8.15pm without anyone sitting in traffic on the Al Qudra interchange. The tutor is picked for the subject and the level. Home visits are a service IB Gram runs in India only, and no sentence on this page should be read as an offer to arrive at a Mudon door.

The second variable is money, and it behaves differently from the way parents expect. A visiting tutor's hourly quote has the drive built into it, which is why the in-home band in Dubai sits above the online one rather than beside it. From a Mudon address, off the main tutor corridors through Motor City and Dubai Sports City, that loading is larger than it would be for a family in Al Barsha. Nobody advertises it as a travel charge; it simply arrives inside the rate. Pricing the arrangement by the month rather than by the hour makes the difference visible, and the table further down this page does exactly that.

What follows is the comparison written out properly: what the Dubai market charges per hour and per month with sources attached, what the drive actually costs a family in Mudon against the neighbouring communities, what KHDA inspection bands mean for the schools your children attend, where IB marks are genuinely lost by subject group, and what a tutor is permitted to do with an Internal Assessment under IB academic-honesty rules. Every figure carries its origin, because an unsourced number is not information.

At a glance

  • Mudon has no secondary school inside the community; Diploma students travel to Arabian Ranches, Motor City, Dubai Hills or Al Barsha South
  • Market rates in Dubai for a qualified online subject tutor run roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour (Unitors, published rates)
  • In-home one-to-one visits are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, travel included (Bestimate, Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026)
  • UAE Cambridge candidates sit the June and November series; the February/March series is offered in India only
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is granted free of charge for two years under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Mudon children are spread across all three IB programmes, usually at different schools, because the communities around Dubailand mix British primaries with IB continuum schools. Here is what each programme asks of a student and what that means for families living on this side of Al Qudra Road.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Every subject carries an Internal Assessment worth 20 to 30 per cent of the final grade, which means a quarter of the Diploma is decided by coursework deadlines rather than by the exam fortnight. Students sit the May session at UAE schools.

Mudon Diploma students mostly travel to Jumeirah English Speaking School in Arabian Ranches, GEMS International School Al Khail or Fairgreen International in The Sustainable City. None of those is a short walk, so a 4pm session at home is realistically a 5pm session once the car is parked, and that is the hour online lessons give back.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria each, A to D, marked out of eight and reported as a 1 to 7 grade through published grade boundaries. There are no public exams until the optional eRs. The difficulty for parents is that a criterion mark is not a percentage, so a 5 in Criterion C means something quite specific about inquiry skills rather than about effort.

Families in Mudon and Arabian Ranches 3 often meet the MYP at Year 7 after a British-curriculum primary, and the first reporting cycle is where confusion starts. Tutoring here is usually about decoding the criteria and the command terms, not about content gaps, and that work transfers cleanly to a screen.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary units of inquiry rather than discrete subjects, ending in the Year 6 Exhibition. Assessment is formative and portfolio-based, so there is no mark to improve in the way an older sibling has. Support at this stage is about reading fluency, number sense and the written communication the Exhibition will later demand.

Mudon primary children often attend British-curriculum schools nearby and meet the IB only when they move up, which is why the parents asking about PYP in this community are usually planning a transfer rather than reacting to a report. Thirty-minute online sessions suit this age better than an hour with a visitor.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Two or more DP courses combined with a career-related study, a reflective project and a personal and professional skills course. Offered by a small number of UAE schools. Students take the same DP subject assessments as Diploma candidates, so the subject tutoring need is identical even though the overall qualification is not.

Very few schools serving the Dubailand communities run the CP, so a Mudon family exploring it is usually comparing it against a two-A-Level route. The practical question is which DP courses are being taken, since those are the ones that carry external papers and therefore the ones tutoring targets.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the subjects Dubailand families request most for Diploma and Middle Years students. Each note says what the assessment actually rewards, because that is where tutoring hours earn their keep.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof, calculus and algebraic fluency. HL adds Maclaurin series, vectors in three dimensions and the harder differential equations. Marks go missing in Paper 1 because it is non-calculator and arithmetic slips compound; in Paper 2 because a graphing calculator is used to confirm rather than to explore.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling and interpretation of data. The common failure is answering a modelling question mathematically and never writing the sentence that interprets the result in context, which is where the marks sit. HL adds matrices, graph theory and complex numbers.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, thermal physics, waves, fields and nuclear. Paper 2 extended response punishes students who calculate without stating assumptions. The HL extension in fields and induction is where grades split, and the practical scheme of work is where the Internal Assessment variable control is decided.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Stoichiometry, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms. Organic chemistry is the topic Dubailand parents ask about most. The fix is almost never more notes; it is mechanism drawing under timed conditions and curly-arrow discipline on every reaction type.

Biology

HL and SL

Cell biology through to ecology, with data-based questions that reward careful reading of axes and units. Students lose marks writing descriptive answers where the command term asked them to explain, and in HL on the biochemistry detail that Standard Level does not reach.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics, the global economy and the three commentaries that make up the Internal Assessment. Diagram accuracy carries real marks: an unlabelled axis or a shifted curve without an explanation costs more than a weak evaluation paragraph.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 guided textual analysis, Paper 2 comparative essay, the Individual Oral, and the HL Essay. The Individual Oral is where preparation pays most, because it is assessed on a global issue the student chooses and must defend with two extracts.

Business Management

HL and SL

Organisational structure, marketing, finance and operations, with a research project at HL and a commentary at SL. Tools such as Ansoff and the BCG matrix earn marks only when applied to the named firm, not described in the abstract.

Arabic B and Arabic ab initio

HL and SL

Reading comprehension, writing in registered text types and the oral assessments. Separate from the Arabic that KHDA requires all Dubai private schools to teach, which runs alongside the IB programme rather than inside it.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover almost every request that arrives from Mudon. All three are delivered over live video, and the differences are about frequency and purpose rather than about place.

Weekly one-to-one by subject

A fixed hour each week with the same tutor, built around the school's own scheme of work and assessment calendar. This is the format that suits a student holding a 4 who should be holding a 6, where the gap is cumulative rather than sudden.

  • Same tutor each week, so the diagnosis carries forward
  • Scheduled around the Arabian Ranches and Motor City school runs
  • Past-paper work from the student's own board and session
  • Written notes after each session for the parent

Coursework and Internal Assessment coaching

Structured sessions on an IA, the Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay, worked strictly as teaching and feedback on the student's own draft. The tutor explains the criteria, questions the method and marks against the published descriptors. The writing stays the student's.

  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback against the published descriptors
  • Research question narrowing and method critique
  • Referencing and academic-honesty practice
  • No drafting, rewriting or production of assessed work

Exam-session intensives

Short blocks of two or three sessions a week in the eight to twelve weeks before a session, built on timed questions rather than on content review. Used by Diploma students who know the content and lose marks on command terms, timing and working shown.

  • Timed papers under exam conditions, marked against the scheme
  • Command-term drilling across Paper 1 and Paper 2
  • Targeted topic repair based on the marked scripts
  • Sessions after Iftar during Ramadan where families prefer it

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Mudon

01

What a Mudon parent is actually comparing

  • Convenience and competence are separate variables and usually point different ways
  • Mudon's Diploma population is too small to sustain a single-subject specialist locally
  • The gap widens at Higher Level and narrows at Standard Level
  • Online delivery replaces a geographic catchment with a subject catchment

The search phrase is an IB home tutor in Mudon, but the decision underneath it has two variables, not one. The first is convenience: can somebody be in the room at a time that works around the drive back from Arabian Ranches or Al Barsha South. The second is competence: does that somebody know what a Chemistry HL Paper 2 extended response is marked against. In a community with no secondary school inside its own boundary, those two variables pull in opposite directions.

Mudon's housing stock is villas and townhouses across Al Salam, Rahat, Arabella, Naseem and Mudon Views. The population skews towards families with school-age children, which is exactly the demand profile tutors chase. What it lacks is the density that makes a specialist viable locally. A tutor who teaches only Physics HL needs a catchment of several thousand Diploma students to fill a week; Mudon and Arabian Ranches 3 together do not supply that, so the people advertising locally are generalists covering four subjects at two levels.

Hold that against the alternative. A live video lesson removes the catchment problem entirely. The pool stops being people within a twenty-minute drive of Al Qudra Road and becomes people who teach that subject at that level, wherever they sit. For Maths Applications and Interpretation at Standard Level, which plenty of tutors can handle, the difference is modest. For Physics HL, Chemistry HL or Economics HL, it is the whole difference between a tutor who explains and a tutor who keeps pace.

The rest of this page sets out the comparison with numbers attached: the market rates, the drive-time arithmetic community by community, and what the two formats actually include once travel is priced in.

02

What tutoring costs across the Dubailand belt, with sources

Start with the monthly figure rather than the hourly one, because that is the number a household budget actually meets. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table puts a weekly one-hour arrangement at roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Those bands hold whether the family lives in Mudon or in Jumeirah; what changes is the travel loading.

Work back to the hour and the picture sharpens. University-student and budget online tutors advertise from around AED 45 to 150, with EdFlik publishing rates from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. A qualified subject tutor working online sits at roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Named IB and IGCSE specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270. Premium examiner-led provision reaches AED 500 to 650, with BartyED at AED 650.

The in-home band is the one that matters to this comparison. Visits are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel, with Bestimate's range at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors advertising AED 200 to 500. Monthly packages seen in the market include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. For a Mudon address on the far side of Al Qudra Road, the visiting tutor's quote reflects the drive, and the drive is longer than from Motor City.

None of these are IB Gram prices. They are what the Dubai market publishes, cited so you can check them, and they are the context for the free trial lesson and consultation that sit at the end of this page.

Mudon against the next community over

Put four Dubailand communities side by side and the pattern is immediate. Each has a slightly different housing type, a slightly different school run and a slightly different tutor supply, and in every case the Diploma specialist is somewhere else. Arabian Ranches 2 is the only one in the group with an IB Diploma school inside or immediately beside it, and places there are finite.

The operational number is the realistic start time for an evening session. A Mudon student finishing at Jumeirah English Speaking School in Arabian Ranches is home by about 3.45pm on a good day. A student at GEMS International School Al Khail or Nord Anglia in Al Barsha South is home closer to 4.30pm, and if there is an activity after school, closer to 5.30pm. A visiting tutor leaving Motor City at 5pm to reach Arabella is not in the room until 5.25pm at best, and the lesson then runs into dinner.

Online lessons collapse that. The session starts when the student sits down, which can be 4.15pm, 6pm or 8.30pm, and the same slot can move by thirty minutes during Ramadan without renegotiating a travel fee. For a family running two children on different timetables across two schools, this is the difference between two tutoring arrangements and one workable evening.

The table below is the comparison in full. Read down the final column: the recommendation does not change by community, which is the point the angle of this page rests on.

Online, in-home and group tuition compared for a Mudon address

A fair comparison prices the whole arrangement, not the headline hour. An in-home visit at the market rate carries the tutor's travel inside the quote, which is why the band sits above the online one. It also carries a scheduling rigidity: a visiting tutor cannot reasonably absorb a 25-minute delay because a school bus was late, and a cancelled slot is hard to refill when the next household is twenty minutes away.

Group tuition behaves differently again. Per student it is the cheapest format in the market and it works well where the whole group is sitting the same paper from the same board with the same gap, which happens in IGCSE Maths and rarely in Diploma Higher Level sciences. For a Mudon family the practical obstacle is assembling that group from a community where children attend five or six different schools on three different curricula.

Online one-to-one is priced in the qualified-tutor band, carries no travel loading, and is the only format where subject match is independent of address. What it asks in return is a quiet room, a stable connection and a parent who looks at the session notes. For practical sciences it cannot replace the school laboratory, and no page should pretend otherwise; what it does is prepare the data analysis, the method design and the write-up that the Internal Assessment is marked on.

The table sets the three formats against each other on the terms that matter from Al Qudra Road.

Where IB marks are genuinely lost, group by group

  • Sciences: calculations without stated assumptions in extended response
  • Maths Paper 1: compounding arithmetic errors with no calculator to catch them
  • Economics: diagrams described rather than applied to the named market
  • Theory of Knowledge: prescribed titles answered without areas of knowledge as the frame
  • Internal Assessments: reflection and engagement criteria, not the subject content

Diagnosis matters more than hours. A student at a 4 in Chemistry HL who should be at a 6 is usually not missing content; they are losing marks in a pattern, and the pattern is diagnosable from two marked papers. In the sciences, the recurring loss is in extended response: a calculation is produced correctly and the assumptions behind it are never stated, so the method marks arrive and the explanation marks do not.

In Mathematics, the split is between the two papers. Paper 1 is taken without a calculator, so an error in line two of an algebraic manipulation travels all the way to a wrong final answer, and follow-through marks only partially rescue it. Paper 2 rewards students who use the graphing calculator to confirm an answer they already reasoned towards, and punishes those who use it to search. The Internal Assessment, the mathematical exploration, loses marks most often on personal engagement and on reflection rather than on the mathematics itself.

In the humanities and language subjects, the losses are structural. An Economics commentary that describes a diagram instead of applying it to the named market caps itself. An English Paper 2 comparative essay that treats the two texts in sequence rather than in conversation loses on the criterion that asks for comparison. A Theory of Knowledge essay that answers the prescribed title generally, without areas of knowledge as the organising frame, is marked down regardless of how well it is written.

None of that requires a tutor in the room. It requires a tutor who can read a marked script, name the pattern and set the next fortnight's work against it, and that work happens just as well on a shared screen.

KHDA, inspection bands and what a Dubai school report tells you

  • KHDA oversees Dubai; ADEK covers Abu Dhabi and Al Ain; SPEA covers Sharjah
  • Dubai private sector 2024-25: 387,441 students, 227 schools, 17 curricula
  • IB programmes accounted for 7 per cent of Dubai private enrolment
  • No fee increase for 2026-27 was confirmed by KHDA in May 2026
  • Read subject-level attainment in an inspection report, not only the overall band

Dubai's private schools are overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which the UAE government describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain fall under the Department of Education and Knowledge, Sharjah under the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Ras Al Khaimah under its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah under the federal Ministry of Education. Those five bodies are the complete regulator map, and most tutoring pages in this market name none of them.

The Dubai sector is large and it is growing. In 2024-25 it held 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering 17 curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26 per cent, American at 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year under Dubai's second economic incentives package. For the following intake, seven new private schools were announced, four UK curriculum and three IB, creating 16,846 new places.

What the inspection report gives a Mudon parent is a reading of departments, not just a headline band. A school rated Good overall can hold an Outstanding mathematics department and an Acceptable science one, and that distinction is exactly what tells you where outside support is worth buying. Read the subject attainment and progress tables rather than the cover grade, and compare them against your own child's reports.

A regulator naming a school is not a regulator endorsing a tutor. IB Gram holds no KHDA permit, no ADEK registration and no board affiliation, and says so plainly because several competitors in this market imply otherwise.

07

Academic honesty: what a tutor may and may not touch

  • Permitted: teaching content, explaining criteria, critiquing method, marking the student's own draft
  • Not permitted: drafting, rewriting, editing to completion, supplying text or a worked exploration
  • Session notes record discussion, which is what a school asks for if authorship is queried
  • Official syllabus and past-paper material is referenced and linked, never redistributed

Every Diploma subject carries an Internal Assessment, and the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge essay sit alongside them. Together they decide a large share of the final points total, and all of them must be the student's own work, authenticated by the subject teacher. An IB malpractice finding is not a mark penalty; it can cost the Diploma.

The boundary is clear once stated. A tutor may teach the subject content, explain what each criterion rewards, question a research question until it is answerable, critique a method, point out that a paragraph asserts rather than evidences, and mark a student's own draft against the published descriptors. A tutor may not draft, rewrite, edit to completion, supply text, or hand over a worked exploration for adaptation. One provider in this market advertises completed Internal Assessments for sale; that is the thing to walk away from.

In practice this makes coursework sessions look different from content sessions. The student arrives with their own draft and leaves with a list of their own decisions to make. Session notes record what was discussed rather than what was written, which is also what a school asks for if it queries authorship. Where a student needs to show process, the tutor's role is to make them keep a research log, not to produce one for them.

Nor may a tutor supply board material. IB, Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade boundary tables stay with their publishers; sessions reference the official pages and link out to them rather than distributing copies.

08

Permits, equivalency and the paperwork behind a Mudon tutoring plan

  • MoHRE private tuition permit: free of charge, valid two years, two working days to issue
  • No published fine schedule exists, so no figure should be quoted for tutoring without a permit
  • British-track equivalency: five IGCSE subjects at E or 3 or better, Arabic and Islamic education excluded
  • A tuition business with premises in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit; IB Gram holds none
  • Verify any IB points figure on the Ministry of Education's own pages

Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is open to teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students. MoHRE's own service listing is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you.

Two further constraints are worth knowing before you hire anyone locally. Abu Dhabi's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff bar teachers from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct carries a similar bar, so the arrangement some parents ask for first is the one to avoid. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different matter again: that needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, which IB Gram does not hold and does not claim.

Looking further ahead, UAE university applications run through Ministry of Education equivalency. On the British track, a student must show five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education not counted among the five, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. One page currently ranking in this market states that UAE candidates need six IGCSE subjects; the published rule is five. For the IB, no points threshold should be taken from a tutoring page, including this one, without being read on the Ministry's own site.

IB Gram does not perform equivalency or attestation and does not guarantee any outcome from it. The process belongs to the Ministry and the emirate authority, and the correct route is theirs.

09

The exam calendar, counted backwards from a Mudon desk

Tutoring plans fail on the calendar more often than on the teaching. Diploma students at UAE schools sit the May session, and the internal deadlines that decide a quarter of their points fall six to nine months earlier. Cambridge runs its IGCSE, O Level and International A Level exams in a June series and a November series; the February and March series is offered in India only, so a UAE candidate who reads an Indian timetable is reading the wrong document. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November.

The checkable dates are the backward-looking ones. Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026. November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, which is the lag to plan around if a resit is in view. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that the correct zone timetable must be used, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Ask your school which zone it sits in rather than assuming.

Working backwards from a session gives a usable plan. Twelve months out, subject choices and Higher Level combinations are fixed. Nine months out, Internal Assessment topics are approved. Six months out, first drafts exist and mocks are sat. Three months out, the work is timed past papers rather than content. Six weeks out, it is error patterns from marked scripts. Ramadan falls inside that window in the current cycle, which is why evening sessions after Iftar are worth booking early rather than negotiating late.

IB session and results dates are not restated here. The IB's own site is the only place to confirm them, and a tutoring page quoting them without that check is a page that will eventually be wrong.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Mudon

Mudon does not sit alone. The communities around it share the same roads, the same schools and the same shortage of subject specialists within driving distance, which is the whole of the comparison this page is built on.

Arabian Ranches 3

Directly across Al Qudra Road from Mudon and the same story: new villas, young families, no Diploma school inside the gates. Parents here ask the identical question about drive times and get the identical answer.

Remraam

Low-rise apartments towards Emirates Road, a different price bracket from Mudon's villas. South View School sits on its edge, which makes the IGCSE conversation easier here than the Diploma one.

Arabian Ranches 2

Older, established, and the reason Ranches Primary School and Jumeirah English Speaking School anchor the school run for this whole belt. Mudon families drive here every morning.

DAMAC Hills

Jebel Ali School sits inside the community, so Mudon parents who did not secure a place there still make the journey for extracurriculars and weekend fixtures.

Motor City

GEMS Metropole School and a denser mix of apartments. Most of the freelance tutors who advertise for Mudon work are based around here or Sports City, which is exactly the shallow pool this page describes.

Town Square

Further out again on the same corridor. Families here face a longer version of the Mudon problem, and the online answer scales identically without an added travel charge.

Dubai Sports City

Victory Heights Primary and GEMS United School. Afternoon traffic around the stadium district adds unpredictability to any visiting tutor's arrival time between four and six.

Dubai Hills Estate

Kings' School Dubai Hills and GEMS International School Al Khail, the nearest IB continuum options for much of the Dubailand belt. The drive from Mudon is real, not nominal.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Mudon

Arabian Ranches and Mudon

The school run most Mudon families actually do. Jumeirah English Speaking School in Arabian Ranches runs the IB Diploma; the rest of this cluster is British curriculum through IGCSE, which is why so many Dubailand students meet the Diploma only at Year 12.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • Jebel Ali School, DAMAC Hills
  • South View School
  • The Aquila School

Motor City, Sports City and Al Barsha South

The second ring, reached along Hessa Street or Al Khail Road. It holds the IB continuum places Mudon parents chase when they want Primary Years through Diploma under one roof, and the journey is the reason afternoon sessions compress.

  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • GEMS United School, Sports City
  • GEMS International School Al Khail
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Kings' School Dubai Hills

Dubailand and The Sustainable City

Newer arrivals on the inland side, several of them IB. These are the schools that changed the Dubailand calculation in the last few years, and the ones Mudon families most often name when they move a child mid-phase.

  • Fairgreen International School
  • Dunecrest American School
  • Vernus International School
  • GEMS FirstPoint School, The Villa

Schools are named here as context for the Dubailand education market; IB Gram claims no affiliation with, or endorsement by, any school listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subject, the level and the school

The useful first message names the subject, whether it is Higher or Standard Level, the year group and the school. For a Mudon family that usually means naming a school in Arabian Ranches, Motor City or Al Barsha South, which tells us the assessment calendar the tutor has to work to.

  2. 02

Send one marked piece of work

A marked past paper, a returned Internal Assessment draft or the last school report is worth more than a description of the problem. It shows the pattern of lost marks, and the pattern is what the first session is built on rather than a generic diagnostic hour.

  3. 03

Meet the tutor in a free trial lesson

A trial session over live video, at no cost and before any payment is taken, so the student meets the person rather than a profile. If the match is wrong, say so and we propose a different tutor; nothing is owed for the trial itself.

  4. 04

Fix the slot around your evening

Sessions are scheduled on Gulf Standard Time around the school run and whatever follows it. A 4.15pm start works for students home early from Arabian Ranches; 8.15pm suits households where both parents commute. The slot can move during Ramadan without a travel charge attached.

  5. 05

Review every few weeks against the calendar

Session notes go to the parent, and every four to six weeks the plan is checked against the school's own deadlines. Coursework drafts, mocks and the exam series each change what the hour should be spent on, so the plan changes with them.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The subject match is not limited by a drive

Choosing a tutor who can reach Al Salam by five means choosing from a handful of generalists. Choosing online means choosing from people who teach that subject at that level. At Higher Level in the sciences and maths, that is the difference the grade actually responds to.

Every figure on this page carries a source

The AED bands are market rates published by named providers and by Bestimate's Dubai cost table, not IB Gram prices. The regulatory and equivalency facts carry their government sources. You can check each one before you spend anything.

Coursework help stops exactly where IB rules say it must

Tutors teach, question, critique and mark against the published criteria. They do not draft, rewrite or supply assessed work. That boundary is stated on the page because the alternative is an expulsion risk for the student and a liability for everyone else.

Scheduling bends without a travel fee

A bus running late, an after-school fixture at Jebel Ali School, a slot moving after Iftar during Ramadan: none of those cost anything to accommodate, because nobody is in a car. For a two-child household on two timetables, that flexibility is worth more than the hourly difference.

No accreditation claims, because there are none to make

IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform. It holds no KHDA permit, no ADEK registration, no board affiliation and no UAE office, and it does not describe its tutors with regulator names attached. Several pages competing for this search do the opposite.

Availability is disclosed rather than assumed

Some combinations, including Higher Level Further Mathematics and the less-taught languages, have thin coverage. When that happens we say so and offer a timescale or an alternative rather than placing a generalist and hoping. The free trial exists so the match is tested before money moves.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Mudon: your questions answered

Can we get an IB home tutor in Mudon who comes to the villa?+

Not through IB Gram. Tutoring for UAE families is delivered one-to-one over live video, and home visits are a service IB Gram runs only in India. Independent tutors and agencies in Dubai do offer visits, quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel inside the price, according to Bestimate's Dubai cost table and the rates home tutors advertise. The argument for the online route from a Mudon address is the subject match: you select a tutor who teaches Chemistry HL rather than whoever can reach Arabella by five o'clock, and the slot can move when the school run runs late.

Is a tutor in Mudon easier to find than one in Arabian Ranches 3?+

Marginally, and not in the subjects that matter. Both communities sit on the same stretch of Al Qudra Road with no Diploma school inside their own gates, so the tutors advertising locally are based around Motor City and Dubai Sports City and tend to cover several subjects at two levels rather than one subject deeply. Mudon is slightly older and slightly denser, which helps at Standard Level and in Middle Years support. At Higher Level in Physics, Chemistry or Maths Analysis and Approaches, both communities face the same shortage, and the answer for both is to stop searching by distance.

What does IB tuition cost per month for a family living in Mudon?+

Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table puts one weekly hour at roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle band, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Packages advertised in the market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits. Those are market figures, not IB Gram prices. Because a Mudon address sits off the main tutor corridors, in-home quotes here reflect the drive, which is the main reason the two bands diverge.

How quickly can a Diploma tutor start for a student in the Dubailand belt?+

For common combinations such as Maths Applications and Interpretation SL, Biology SL or English A, a trial lesson is usually arranged within a few days of you naming the subject, level, year group and school. Narrower requests take longer: Higher Level Further Mathematics, Chemistry HL coursework coaching close to a deadline, or a less-taught language can need a week or more. We tell you which case you are in rather than placing a generalist. The trial is free and happens before any payment, so a wrong match costs you nothing but the hour.

Which schools do Mudon students usually attend for the IB Diploma?+

Most travel outward. Jumeirah English Speaking School in Arabian Ranches runs the Diploma and anchors the school run for much of this belt. Further along Al Khail Road, GEMS International School Al Khail and Nord Anglia International School Dubai offer IB routes, and Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City runs the continuum. Several nearby schools, including Jebel Ali School in DAMAC Hills, GEMS Metropole in Motor City and South View School, are British curriculum through IGCSE, which is why a good number of Dubailand students meet the Diploma only when they reach Year 12. Schools are named as context; no affiliation is implied.

Does my child need a KHDA permit or anything similar to receive private tuition?+

No. The permit requirement falls on the person teaching, not on the family. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Anyone tutoring privately without it is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule is published. Ask any tutor you hire locally whether they hold it, and apply the same question to an agency's staff.

Can a tutor help write my daughter's Economics Internal Assessment?+

No, and anyone offering to is putting the Diploma at risk. The three Economics commentaries must be the student's own work, authenticated by the subject teacher. What a tutor can legitimately do is explain what each criterion rewards, question the choice of article and the economics being applied, check that diagrams are labelled and shifted correctly, point out where a paragraph asserts rather than evidences, and mark a draft the student has written against the published descriptors. The writing, the selection and the evaluation stay with your daughter. One provider in this market sells completed assessments; that is the service to refuse.

Is online tuition genuinely as effective for Higher Level sciences as sitting in the room?+

For the work that decides the grade, yes, and in one respect better. Extended-response technique, mechanism drawing, data analysis and marked-script repair all happen on a shared screen with annotation, and the student keeps the annotated copy. What online delivery cannot replace is the school laboratory, and it does not try to; practical work belongs to the school. Where it earns its place is the Internal Assessment around that practical: variable control, uncertainty treatment, graph choice and the evaluation paragraph. The trade you are making is a physical presence for a tutor who has actually taught the level.

Which exam series should a Mudon family be planning around?+

Diploma students at UAE schools sit the May session. For Cambridge, UAE candidates sit the June and November series; the February and March series is offered in India only, so an Indian timetable is the wrong document for a Dubai centre. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November. As dated examples, Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Confirm IB dates on the IB's own site through your school's coordinator.

My son is at a 4 in Chemistry HL. What would the first month look like?+

It starts with two marked papers rather than a syllabus. A 4 at Higher Level is usually a pattern, not a content hole: calculations produced without stated assumptions, organic mechanisms drawn loosely, equilibrium questions answered qualitatively where the mark scheme wanted a quantitative line. The first session names the pattern. The next three attack it with timed questions from his own board, marked against the scheme, with the annotated scripts going back to him. Progress shows first in marks on individual questions, before it shows in a predicted grade, and the session notes track which questions moved.

Can one tutor cover both Maths and Physics for the same Diploma student?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking for. Maths Analysis and Approaches and Physics overlap in calculus, vectors and graph interpretation, so a tutor who holds both can use one to reinforce the other, particularly in mechanics and in fields. At Higher Level in both subjects simultaneously, the combination is less common and the honest answer may be two tutors. We would rather tell you that than stretch one person across a level they teach less confidently. Either way, the scheduling works the same way, because no travel has to be arranged between the two slots.

What happens to lessons during Ramadan and the Dubai school holidays?+

Sessions move rather than stop. During Ramadan many Dubailand families prefer slots after Iftar, and because nobody is travelling, a time change costs nothing and can be arranged week by week. School holidays work the other way: they are the only blocks where a student can sit two or three sessions in a week without a timetable fighting back, which makes them the natural window for coursework catch-up or for the content repair a term could not absorb. Tell us which weeks you are travelling and the plan is built around them.

How do we read a KHDA inspection report when choosing a school from Mudon?+

Read past the cover grade. KHDA inspects Dubai private schools on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak, and a school rated Good overall can hold an Outstanding mathematics department alongside an Acceptable science one. The subject-level attainment and progress tables are the useful part, because they tell you where outside support is likely to be worth buying. For context, Dubai's private sector held 387,441 students across 227 schools offering 17 curricula in 2024-25, with IB programmes at 7 per cent of enrolment. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that fees would not rise for 2026-27.

Is IB Gram approved by KHDA or affiliated with the IB?+

No, and we will not imply otherwise. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no KHDA permit, no ADEK registration, no Ministry of Education licence, no IB or Cambridge affiliation and no office in the UAE. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation issued to training institutes with physical premises in Dubai, and we do not hold one. Several pages competing for this search use regulator names as adjectives for their tutors. The questions worth asking any provider instead are whether the individual tutor holds the MoHRE private tuition permit and what subject and level they have actually taught.

Start with one free trial lesson from Mudon

The comparison on this page ends in the same place whether you live in Mudon, Arabian Ranches 3, Remraam or Town Square: choose the tutor by the subject and the level, and let the lesson come to the desk rather than to the door. Send the subject, the level, the year group and the school, attach one marked piece of work, and a trial lesson over live video is arranged before any payment is taken. If the match is wrong, say so and we propose someone else. Nothing about the trial is owed, and no accreditation we do not hold will be claimed along the way.
