IB Home Tutor in Emaar Beachfront

Parents searching for an IB home tutor in Emaar Beachfront are usually comparing two things at once: this island and the one next door. The honest finding is that the answer barely changes between Emaar Beachfront, Dubai Marina and JBR, because the limiting factor is never distance. It is whether a Chemistry HL or Maths AA specialist is free at 17:30 Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video, so the tutor pool is the whole pool.

  • One-to-one IB lessons over live video, never a recorded class

IB & IGCSE in Emaar Beachfront

Emaar Beachfront, Dubai Marina, JBR: the same tutoring answer three times

Emaar Beachfront sits on a man-made peninsula reached by a single road link off King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, wedged between Dubai Harbour on one side and the open water of Dubai Marina on the other. There is no school on the island. There is no tuition centre on the island. Every child living in one of its towers travels off the peninsula to study, which makes the phrase "home tutor" unusually literal here: the alternative to a tutor in the apartment is a second journey after a school journey that already ate an hour.

That geography is why parents here start by comparing neighbourhoods. A family in a Beachfront tower will ask whether they would get better tutoring coverage if they moved the search to Dubai Marina, or JBR, or across to Al Sufouh. It is a reasonable question and it has a disappointing answer. The three neighbourhoods draw on the same freelance pool, feed the same cluster of schools in Al Sufouh, Al Barsha and Jumeirah, and sit inside the same evening traffic window. Changing the pin on the map changes almost nothing about who is available to teach Physics HL on a Tuesday.

What does change the answer is the delivery model. A tutor who drives to a Beachfront address is constrained by the causeway, by visitor parking in a tower with a shared basement, and by the fact that an hour of lesson time costs them two hours of their evening. That cost shows up in the rate and in the shortlist: the pool shrinks to people who already live within a short drive and who happen to teach the subject and level you need. For a widely taught subject at SL, that pool is adequate. For Chemistry HL, Maths AA HL, Economics HL or an Extended Essay in a niche discipline, it is thin, and the thinness is invisible until you have interviewed four people who cannot help.

IB Gram works the other way round. Lessons run one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, so the question becomes which IB specialist is the right teacher for your child rather than which IB specialist lives near the Marina. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service offered only in India. Saying so plainly matters more than the keyword: a page that implies a tutor will ring your doorbell in Emaar Beachfront and then delivers a video call has misled a parent at the worst possible moment, eight weeks before an exam series.

The rest of this page does the comparison properly. It publishes what the Dubai market charges in AED, by provider model, with each figure attributed. It sets Emaar Beachfront beside Dubai Marina, JBR, Dubai Harbour and Palm Jumeirah on the things that actually differ: school commute, realistic earliest session start, which curricula the nearby schools run. It explains what a tutor may and may not touch on an Internal Assessment under IB academic-honesty rules. And it says what happens when no specialist is free, which no competitor page in this market discloses.

At a glance

  • No school and no tuition centre sits inside Emaar Beachfront itself
  • In-home visits in Dubai are quoted at AED 180-500 per hour by market sources; online qualified-tutor rates run AED 150-300
  • The island's single road link makes a 16:00 start unrealistic on a weekday
  • Cambridge candidates in the UAE sit the June and November series, not the February/March one
  • KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees would not rise for the 2026-27 year
  • IB Gram teaches online one-to-one; it does not offer home visits in the UAE
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Children in Emaar Beachfront towers are spread across three IB stages at once, because the towers attract families with a wide age spread rather than a single school cohort. Each stage needs a different kind of help, and conflating them is the commonest planning error we see from this part of New Dubai.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The PYP has no external examination. Progress is judged through transdisciplinary units of inquiry, a portfolio, and the Year 6 Exhibition. Tutoring at this stage is about securing number sense, reading fluency and the habit of explaining a method out loud, because the MYP assumes all three. A PYP student who can get the right answer but cannot say why will stall in MYP Criterion C.

Beachfront primary children typically travel to Al Sufouh, Al Barsha or Jumeirah, which means a bus pickup before 07:00 and a return after 15:30. A 25-minute online session at 17:00 fits that day; a tutor arriving at 16:30 does not, because the child has not eaten.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

MYP marks run on four criteria per subject, each scored 0-8, and the conversion to a 1-7 grade is published by the school rather than the IB. Most families only discover this in MYP 4. Tutoring here is largely criterion literacy: knowing that Criterion D asks for application in unfamiliar contexts, and that a technically correct answer with no reflection scores in the middle band.

Several schools serving this cluster run MYP to Year 9 and then switch to IGCSE, so a Beachfront family may be planning for MYP 5 that never happens. Check the school's published pathway before booking a two-year MYP plan.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at HL, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Grades are 1-7 per subject with up to three bonus points from TOK and the EE. The Diploma is where the specialist shortage bites: a student taking Chemistry HL, Maths AA HL and Physics HL needs three different subject teachers, not one generalist.

UAE schools sit the May session. Internal deadlines for IA drafts, the EE and TOK land across the preceding autumn and spring, which is why a January start on a DP2 subject is late rather than early. Confirm every IB date with your school's Diploma coordinator.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

The CP pairs at least two DP courses with a career-related study and a reflective project. It is offered by a small number of UAE schools and is often overlooked by families comparing the Diploma against A Levels. Tutoring focuses on the DP courses inside it, which are marked to full DP standards even though the overall award is different.

Because CP provision in Dubai is narrow, families in this cluster who want it usually travel further than they would for the Diploma. That is one of the few cases where the neighbourhood you live in genuinely changes the schooling decision.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma and MYP subjects requested most often by families in Emaar Beachfront, Dubai Harbour and the surrounding Marina towers. The description says what the subject actually assesses and where the marks leak, because that is what determines how many sessions a student needs.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebraic fluency, calculus and proof. HL adds a third paper with no formula support beyond the booklet. Marks go missing in method communication: a correct final answer with no intermediate line scores a fraction of the available marks, and that habit is formed in MYP.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology-heavy problem solving. The graphic display calculator is assumed throughout. Students lose marks by failing to state the model, define variables, or comment on whether the result is reasonable in context.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, thermal, waves, electricity, circular motion and fields. HL extends into quantum and nuclear content. The recurring failure is a half-drawn free-body diagram: the physics is sound, the forces are unlabelled, and the mark scheme never gets to see the reasoning.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Stoichiometry, bonding, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms. HL adds depth across every theme. Organic mechanisms are where DP1 students stall, usually because they memorise arrows rather than the reason an electron pair moves.

Biology

HL and SL

Cells, molecular biology, genetics, ecology, physiology and the HL extensions. The marks are in the command terms: "outline" and "explain" carry different expectations, and answering the easier one is the most common self-inflicted loss across the whole subject.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics and the global economy, assessed through diagram-led extended response and three commentaries drawn from published news. HL adds calculation-based policy questions. Weak diagram labelling costs more than weak theory.

Business Management

HL and SL

Organisational structure, human resources, finance, marketing and operations, with a research project at the centre. Students who treat the project as an essay rather than an evidence-led analysis of one real organisation lose the top band.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Non-literary and literary texts, the Individual Oral, Paper 1 guided analysis and Paper 2 comparative essay. The Individual Oral is where preparation pays most, because it is the one component a student can rehearse against a global issue they have chosen.

Arabic B and Arabic ab initio

HL, SL and ab initio

Dubai private schools must deliver Arabic regardless of the licensed curriculum, so Beachfront children sit Arabic alongside their IB courses. Tutoring streams split by prior exposure, because combining first-language and additional-language learners is not permitted in school classes.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

An exhibition of three objects against a prescribed prompt, plus a 1,600-word essay on a prescribed title. TOK is graded A-E and feeds the bonus points. Students lose marks by describing knowledge rather than examining how a claim comes to be justified.

Extended Essay

Core

A 4,000-word independent research piece in one subject, supervised at school. Tutoring here is process coaching: research question scope, method, source criticism and structure. A tutor may read and comment; the writing must be the student's own.

Design Technology and Computer Science

HL and SL

Both carry heavy internal assessment weightings and both reward documentation discipline over flair. Students who build first and document later cannot reconstruct the design cycle evidence the criteria demand.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats exist in this market and they are not interchangeable. The comparison below is written from what each actually costs a Beachfront family in money and in evening hours, rather than from what it is marketed as.

Weekly one-to-one online

A fixed 60 or 90-minute slot each week with the same tutor, on live video with a shared working page. This is what IB Gram delivers to Emaar Beachfront. The slot is chosen in Gulf Standard Time around the school bus and dinner, and it survives a family trip because nobody has to be in the same building.

  • Same tutor each week, so the diagnosis carries forward
  • Work shown on a shared page the parent can review afterwards
  • No travel cost built into the rate
  • Session can move by thirty minutes without anyone losing an hour

Intensive block before a session

Two or three sessions a week across six to ten weeks, aimed at a specific external series or a mock window. Used most by DP2 students and Year 11 candidates. It is a different product from weekly support: the content is past-paper led, and progress is measured against mark schemes rather than against the school's teaching order.

  • Sequenced backwards from the exam window
  • Past papers worked under timed conditions
  • Mark-scheme language taught explicitly
  • Ends when the series ends, not on a rolling subscription

Coursework and core supervision support

Scheduled sessions through an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or TOK essay cycle. The tutor works on research question scope, method, data handling and structure, reads drafts and gives feedback. The student writes every word. This boundary is not a policy preference; it is what IB academic honesty requires.

  • Research question narrowed until it is answerable
  • Method and data-collection plan reviewed before work starts
  • Feedback on the student's own draft, never a rewrite
  • School's internal deadlines used as the schedule

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Emaar Beachfront

01

What "IB home tutor in Emaar Beachfront" is really asking

  • One road link onto the peninsula, no school and no centre inside it
  • Visitor parking requires a resident to authorise basement access
  • In-home rates in Dubai carry the travel cost whether the traffic cooperates or not
  • Online delivery removes the geographic filter on the specialist shortlist

The phrase means: find someone who can teach my child IB content at our address, this term, without adding another journey to an already long day. That is a logistics request dressed as a subject request, and it deserves a logistics answer. On Emaar Beachfront the logistics are unusual enough to change the recommendation. The peninsula is reached by one road link. There is no school inside it and no tuition centre inside it. Visitor access to tower basements needs a resident to clear it. An hour of teaching at a Beachfront address therefore costs the tutor roughly two and a quarter hours door to door, and that cost is priced in.

The second half of the question is subject supply, and here the island is no different from anywhere else in New Dubai. The pool of people who can teach IB Chemistry HL to a Diploma standard, in Dubai, who are free at the hour your child is actually able to concentrate, is small. Narrowing that pool further to people who will drive onto a peninsula is how families end up accepting a generalist for a specialist job. The generalist can keep a student afloat in SL content. They cannot reliably diagnose why a student is losing four marks a paper on equilibrium calculations.

IB Gram answers the question by separating the two halves. The logistics problem is solved by delivering lessons online, one-to-one, over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. The supply problem is solved because removing travel removes the geographic filter: the tutor who teaches your child Chemistry HL is chosen for the subject and level, not for a postcode. We do not run home visits in the UAE, and the page would be dishonest if it implied otherwise. What follows is the evidence for why that trade is a good one, including the market rates that make the case better than any argument could.

02

What IB tutoring actually costs around the Marina, in AED

Start with the monthly figure, because that is the number a family budgets against. A single weekly one-hour session with a qualified subject tutor, taken online, lands between roughly AED 600 and AED 1,200 a month on Bestimate's published Dubai estimates for mid-tier tutoring. A specialist exam-year arrangement runs AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 and upwards on the same source. Budget provision, usually a university student, sits at AED 240 to AED 600. Package pricing seen in this market includes AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Those monthly bands resolve into hourly rates that vary mostly by format rather than by brilliance. EdFlik advertises online tutoring from AED 45 to 65 an hour and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52, both at the budget end. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. TutorChase quotes AED 270 for specialist cover. Bestimate's own range for IB, IGCSE and A Level specialists is AED 200 to 450 and above, and BartyED sits at the top of the visible market at AED 650. In-home one-to-one visits, with travel included, are quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and at AED 200 to 500 by independent home tutors.

The gap between the online and in-home columns is the travel premium, and it buys exactly one thing: a person in the room. It does not buy a better-qualified teacher, and on a peninsula with a single access road it does not reliably buy punctuality either. Three of the seven competitor pages researched for this market publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, a currency no Dubai family pays tuition in. These figures are the market, not IB Gram's price list. For our own arrangement, the free trial lesson and the consultation that follows are where the number gets fixed to your child's subjects and session count.

Emaar Beachfront, Dubai Harbour, Marina, JBR and the Palm, compared properly

Families moving into this part of New Dubai are told the neighbourhoods are interchangeable for schooling. They are not, but the differences are not the ones estate agents mention. What varies between these five addresses is the school commute, the earliest hour a child can realistically sit down and think, and how predictable the afternoon is. What does not vary is the depth of the local specialist pool, because all five draw on the same tutors and the same school cluster in Al Sufouh, Al Barsha and Jumeirah.

Emaar Beachfront and Dubai Harbour are effectively one unit for this purpose. Both are new, both are tower-dense, both reach the mainland through the same corridor, and neither contains a school. Dubai Marina and JBR have the advantage of age: more residents, more established freelance tutors, more foot traffic. That advantage is spent on congestion, because the same density that attracts tutors also means a 17:00 arrival is a coin toss. Palm Jumeirah is the clearest case of distance mattering: a single trunk road, separate access for frontline villas and towers, and in-home tutors who commonly add a surcharge for it.

The conclusion holds across all five. If your child needs Economics HL and the three people in your area who teach IB Economics are already booked on Tuesdays, your postcode is irrelevant. Online delivery is what breaks that constraint, and it breaks it identically for a Beachfront tower, a Harbour apartment and a Palm villa. The table sets out the real differences so that you can plan a session time, which is the part of the decision that genuinely depends on where you live.

04

Online one-to-one against an in-home visit, cost and hour by hour

Set the two formats side by side on the things a Beachfront parent can verify. An in-home visit means a tutor in the room, a fixed arrival time that depends on the causeway, a rate carrying travel, and a shortlist limited to people who live nearby and teach the subject. Online one-to-one means a tutor who may live anywhere, a rate with no travel component, a slot that can shift by half an hour at short notice, and a shortlist limited only by who teaches the subject at the level required.

The second format wins on the two measures that decide outcomes: who teaches, and whether the session happens at all. An in-home arrangement breaks when the tutor is delayed, when the family travels, when the child has a late school activity, or when the tutor moves apartment. An online arrangement survives all four. It also produces a written artefact by default, because the shared working page from each session stays available for the student to revise from, which an exercise book on the dining table does not.

Where the in-home format genuinely wins is with very young children who cannot yet hold attention on a screen, and with students who need physical apparatus handled for them. For PYP-age support, that is a real consideration and we say so. For MYP and Diploma work, which is diagram-heavy, past-paper led and almost entirely mediated through written working, the shared screen is not a compromise. IB Gram does not provide home visits anywhere in the UAE, so the honest framing is this: if a tutor in the room is non-negotiable for your child, the market rates above tell you what that costs locally.

Why the specialist, not the distance, is the scarce thing

  • Three HLs means three subject teachers, not one willing generalist
  • A generalist plateau looks like effort without movement in the grade
  • Rate is set by format and travel more than by subject expertise
  • If no specialist is free, we name the gap instead of filling it badly

A Diploma student taking three Higher Levels needs three subject teachers. That sentence looks obvious and it is routinely ignored, because the in-home model pushes families towards one tutor who will take whatever is on offer. The result is a Chemistry HL student being taught by someone whose own strength is Biology, which works for the first term of DP1 and fails in the organic mechanisms and equilibrium content of DP2. The failure is not visible in session; it shows up as a plateau at 4 or 5 that nobody can explain.

Run the arithmetic on supply. Dubai had 227 private schools in 2024-25 across 17 curricula, with IB programmes accounting for about 7% of private enrolment. That is a real but narrow IB population, spread across the whole emirate. The subset of adults who teach Chemistry HL to Diploma standard is correspondingly narrow. Now filter for people who will drive onto Emaar Beachfront at 17:30 on a Tuesday and you are choosing from a handful, if that. Filter instead only for subject and hour, and the shortlist is a shortlist again.

This is also why we publish a coverage position rather than implying unlimited availability. If no specialist is free for a niche subject at the hour you need, we say so and offer the nearest workable alternative: a different slot, a different HL subject taught first, or a short block with a specialist who has limited weekly availability. No competitor page researched in this market discloses a coverage limit at all. Several conceal non-UAE delivery behind an overseas phone number instead, which is the same problem handled dishonestly.

06

What a tutor may and may not do with an IA, EE or TOK essay

The Diploma puts a large share of every subject grade inside work the student produces at school under supervision. That makes coursework the single most sensitive area in IB tutoring, and the one where this market contains outright malpractice. One page researched for this project sells completed Internal Assessments at a published price. A student who submits one risks the loss of the entire Diploma, and the school is obliged to report it.

The boundary is clear and worth stating in plain terms. A tutor may explain the assessment criteria and what each band actually requires. A tutor may help narrow a research question until it is answerable within the word limit. A tutor may review a method, question whether the data supports the conclusion, and point out that a graph has no uncertainty bars. A tutor may read a draft the student has written and give feedback on structure, clarity and evidence. A tutor may teach the subject content the piece depends on.

A tutor may not write any part of the piece. A tutor may not edit it to completion, supply paragraphs for insertion, select and write up the data, or produce a worked version for the student to adapt. IB Gram tutors work on the first list and refuse the second, and they will tell a student directly when a request has crossed the line. Supervision of the EE and the IA belongs to the school; a tutor supports the student's own work alongside it and keeps the school's internal deadlines as the schedule.

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies alongside the Diploma

  • Arabic, Islamic Education and social and moral studies are required in Dubai private schools
  • Arab and non-Arab streams must be taught separately, not combined
  • Instructional time is counted in 40-minute units; 25 minutes is the advised minimum lesson
  • Additional or different content needs prior Ministry permission

Families moving into Emaar Beachfront from outside the UAE are often surprised that their child's IB timetable includes subjects the IB does not set. Dubai private schools must deliver Arabic language, Islamic Education and social and moral studies regardless of the international curriculum they are licensed to teach. The federal position is that private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond those subjects, but must follow the Ministry's general regulations. KHDA's own mandatory-subjects guidance set the start of the 2025-26 academic year as the implementation point, with April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April.

The structural detail matters for tutoring. KHDA requires separate classes by group for Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies: combined classes for Arab and non-Arab students are prohibited, because the curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arab students and for Arabic as a first language. For non-Arab students, Islamic Education and the moral, social and cultural studies strand are taught in the school's licensed-curriculum language. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and KHDA advises that no mandatory-subject lesson should run shorter than 25 minutes.

Two practical consequences follow. First, a tutor supporting Arabic has to know which stream the child sits in, because the material is not interchangeable. Second, for these subjects the use of different or additional content without prior Ministry permission is prohibited, so support has to work with the school's own material rather than substituting a parallel syllabus. Schools are also required to ensure that teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold the appropriate KHDA approval to teach them, which is a credential question worth asking your school directly.

Getting started from a Beachfront address, including what can go wrong

  • Send year group, subjects, level, school and two or three genuinely free hours
  • One free trial lesson per student, no card required
  • Change the tutor rather than persisting with a poor match
  • 17:00 or later is the slot that survives the school run from this peninsula

The sequence is short. You tell us the year group, the subjects, the level, the school and the two or three hours in the week that are genuinely free. We come back with a specialist for each subject and a proposed slot in Gulf Standard Time. One free trial lesson per student follows, with no card required and no obligation after it. If the match is wrong, you say so and we change the tutor rather than asking you to persist with it.

What can go wrong is worth naming in advance. The commonest problem is a slot that looked free on paper and is not: a 16:30 start fails on this peninsula roughly as often as it succeeds, because the school bus is the variable. Move it to 17:00 or 17:30 and the same arrangement holds for a year. The second commonest problem is booking one tutor for three Higher Levels. It feels efficient and it caps the ceiling in at least two of the three subjects. The third is starting a DP2 subject in January and expecting to recover ground that was lost across DP1; it is possible, but the plan has to be past-paper led from the first session rather than a re-teach of the course.

And sometimes we cannot help immediately. A niche HL subject at a specific hour may have no specialist free that week. When that happens we say so and offer the realistic alternatives: a different slot with the right person, a different subject started first, or a short intensive block with someone whose weekly availability is limited. That is a less attractive answer than pretending otherwise, and it is the only one that does not waste a term.

Where we tutor

Emaar Beachfront against the neighbourhoods around it

The comparison below is the point of this page. Each of these areas is within a few kilometres of Emaar Beachfront, each is often suggested as a better base for finding a tutor, and in each case the operative difference is commute rather than tutor supply.

Emaar Beachfront

A gated cluster of residential towers on a reclaimed peninsula with one road link. No school, no tuition centre, and basement parking that visitors cannot reach without a resident escort. Online sessions remove all three frictions at once.

Dubai Harbour

Immediately adjacent, built around the cruise terminal and marina berths. Shares the same access corridor and the same school-run pattern, so a Harbour family and a Beachfront family face an identical evening timetable.

Dubai Marina

Dense, older and far better served by road and tram, which does widen the pool of tutors willing to travel. It also puts a 17:00 session inside the worst of the Marina's own congestion, which cancels most of the advantage.

JBR

Walkable, with a long-established resident population and the most mature local tutoring market in the cluster. Families here still report the same specialist gap at HL, which is the clearest evidence that proximity is not the constraint.

Palm Jumeirah

One trunk road and a monorail, with villa frontlines and apartment towers served by separate access points. Travel times inside the Palm are unpredictable enough that in-home tutors commonly quote a premium for it.

Al Sufouh

Where much of the cluster's schooling actually happens, including long-established British and IB provision. A tutor based here can reach Beachfront in good traffic, which is to say not between 15:30 and 19:00.

JLT

Towers and offices across Sheikh Zayed Road from the Marina, with the highest concentration of freelance tutors in the cluster. The road crossing at the wrong hour is the whole problem with relying on them.

The Greens and The Views

Low-rise apartment communities with their own feeder school provision and a settled family population. Often held up as the easy-tutoring neighbourhood; in practice it has the same HL specialist thinness as the Beachfront towers.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Emaar Beachfront

Al Sufouh, Al Barsha and Umm Suqeim

This is where most secondary-age children from Emaar Beachfront and Dubai Harbour study. The cluster runs both British provision to A Level and full IB continuum schools, which is why a single Beachfront tower can hold a Year 11 IGCSE student and a Year 11 MYP student with completely different assessment calendars.

  • Repton Al Barsha
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai

Jumeirah, Al Safa and Jumeirah Park

The second commute direction from the Beachfront causeway, taken by families who prioritised a particular curriculum over distance. Journey times here are more predictable in the morning than in the afternoon, which is the opposite of what parents expect when they first move in.

  • JESS Jumeirah
  • Horizon English School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Safa British School

The Greens, The Meadows and Jumeirah Village

The inland alternative, reached by Sheikh Zayed Road or Al Khail Road. Several of these schools run the IB Middle Years Programme into Year 9 and then move students onto IGCSE, so the pathway question matters more here than the commute.

  • Regent International School
  • Emirates International School Meadows
  • Sunmarke School

Schools are named here only to describe the area your child is studying in. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subjects and the free hours

Year group, board, subject list with HL and SL split, the school, and the two or three hours in the week that are genuinely free after the bus and dinner. The free hours matter as much as the subjects, because a plan built around an hour that does not exist collapses in week three.

  2. 02

We match a specialist per subject

One tutor per subject and level, chosen for the content rather than for proximity to the Marina. If three Higher Levels are in play, expect three names. We will tell you when a subject has limited availability at your preferred hour instead of filling the slot with a generalist.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson, then a plan

One trial lesson per student, no card required. The tutor uses it to diagnose rather than to sell: where the marks are actually going, which topics are unsecured, and how many sessions the gap realistically needs. You get that assessment in writing whether or not you continue.

  4. 04

Weekly sessions in Gulf Standard Time

A fixed slot with the same tutor each week, run on live video with a shared working page. The page stays available afterwards, so revision happens from the student's own worked examples rather than from a textbook they have never annotated.

  5. 05

    Re-point the plan each term

Before each reporting cycle and each mock window the plan is reviewed against the school's own assessment calendar. Topics that are secure drop out; topics the mock exposed move to the front. Before an external series the work becomes past-paper led under timed conditions.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The shortlist is not filtered by distance

Removing travel removes the only reason to care where a tutor lives. Your child's Chemistry HL teacher is selected for Chemistry HL. For a family on a peninsula with one road link, that is the single largest practical difference between online and in-home provision.

Rates on this page carry their source

Every AED figure here is attributed to the competitor or market source that published it, with October 2026 as the read date. Three of the seven researched competitor pages publish no price at all. You can check ours before you speak to anyone.

Coursework support stops where IB rules stop it

Tutors explain criteria, narrow research questions, review methods and give feedback on the student's own drafts. They do not write, complete or edit assessed work to submission. A student who submits bought coursework risks the whole Diploma.

Availability is disclosed, not implied

When no specialist is free for a niche subject at the hour you want, we say so and offer the workable alternatives. No researched competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit, which is why families discover it only after they have committed.

The session survives the week

Travel, a late school activity, a closed lane on the causeway and a family trip all break an in-home arrangement. None of them break a video slot that moves by thirty minutes. Continuity is what turns tutoring into a grade change.

No regulator is claimed as an endorsement

KHDA inspects Dubai private schools and sets the mandatory-subject rules described above. It does not endorse tutors, and IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, MoE, IB or Cambridge accreditation. Any page telling you otherwise is selling you a credential that does not exist.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Emaar Beachfront: your questions answered

Can I get an IB home tutor who comes to our Emaar Beachfront apartment?+

Not through IB Gram. We teach one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, and we do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Independent home tutors in Dubai do visit Beachfront addresses, and market sources quote AED 180 to 500 an hour for in-home one-to-one with travel included. What you give up by choosing online is the person in the room. What you gain is a tutor chosen for Chemistry HL rather than for living near the Marina, and a session that is not at the mercy of one access road.

Would we find more IB tutors if we lived in Dubai Marina instead?+

Marginally more people willing to travel, and no more specialists. Marina and JBR have older, denser resident populations and a more established freelance market, so a Beachfront family moving there would see a longer list of names. The list would still thin to almost nothing for Chemistry HL, Maths AA HL or Economics HL at a workable hour, because the constraint is how few adults teach those courses in Dubai at all. That is why the recommendation on this page is the same for Beachfront, Harbour, Marina, JBR and the Palm.

What is a realistic session time for a child travelling to school in Al Barsha?+

Plan for 17:00 at the earliest on a weekday, and 17:30 if the bus is unreliable. Children from this peninsula leave before 07:00 and return after 15:30, and the hour immediately after that is for food and decompression rather than calculus. A session that starts too early gets cancelled or wasted, which is how families conclude tutoring does not work when the real problem was the clock. Weekend mornings are the most productive slots we schedule for this cluster, particularly for coursework blocks.

How much should I budget each month for one IB subject?+

For a qualified subject tutor online, once a week, Bestimate's Dubai estimates put the monthly spend at roughly AED 600 to 1,200. Specialist exam-year support runs AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above. Budget provision, usually a university student, sits at AED 240 to 600 a month. Package pricing in this market includes AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. Those are market figures read in October 2026, not IB Gram prices; our own number depends on subject count and session length and is fixed after the free trial.

My child takes three Higher Levels. Can one tutor cover all of them?+

One tutor can cover all three badly. Higher Level content in Chemistry, Physics and Maths AA diverges sharply from DP1 into DP2, and a teacher whose own depth is in one of them will keep a student afloat in the others without being able to diagnose where four marks a paper are going. Expect three names for three Higher Levels. It costs more per week and it is the difference between a plateau at 5 and movement at the top of the grade, which is the whole reason for hiring anyone.

Which schools do children from Emaar Beachfront and Dubai Harbour usually attend?+

Most travel to the Al Sufouh, Al Barsha and Umm Suqeim cluster, which includes long-established British provision to A Level and full IB continuum schools, or to Jumeirah and Al Safa. A smaller group goes inland to The Greens, The Meadows and Jumeirah Village. Neither peninsula has a school inside it. We name these schools to describe the area your child studies in; IB Gram has no affiliation or partnership with any of them, and no page should imply otherwise.

Does online tutoring actually work for diagram-heavy subjects like Physics?+

For MYP and Diploma work it works well, because the subject is already mediated through written working. A shared page lets the tutor watch a free-body diagram being drawn and intervene at the moment a force goes unlabelled, which is harder across a dining table than people assume. The page also persists, so revision happens from the student's own annotated examples. Where a screen is genuinely weaker is with very young children who cannot hold attention on it, and we say so rather than pretending the format suits everyone.

Is private tutoring in Dubai regulated, and should I check anything?+

Yes. Private tuition in the UAE runs on a MoHRE work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule has been published. Ask any independent tutor about their permit; the official route is MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service.

Can a tutor help with my child's Chemistry Internal Assessment?+

A tutor can teach the chemistry the investigation depends on, discuss whether the research question is answerable in the word limit, question the method, point out that a results table has no uncertainties, and give written feedback on a draft your child has written. A tutor cannot write it, process the data, or edit it to completion. One page in this market sells finished Internal Assessments outright; submitting one puts the entire Diploma at risk and the school must report it. Our tutors will refuse that request explicitly.

When do UAE students sit Cambridge IGCSE and IB exams?+

Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE candidates; the February/March series is offered to India only, so do not plan around it. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. For the Diploma, UAE schools sit the May session. IB session and results dates in this project are not confirmed from the IB directly, so check every Diploma date with your school's coordinator or on ibo.org before acting on it. Cambridge also allocates each centre to one of six administrative zones, and the zone timetable is the one that matters.

What do you do when nobody is available to teach the Higher Level we want?+

We tell you. A niche Higher Level subject at a specific hour sometimes has nobody available that week, and the honest options are a different slot with the right teacher, starting a different subject first, or a short intensive block with someone whose weekly availability is limited. No competitor page researched for this market discloses a coverage limit at all, and several route UAE parents to an overseas phone number instead. Finding out in week one costs you nothing; finding out in week eight costs a term.

Do you teach the Arabic my child has to take alongside the IB?+

Yes, with one caveat that matters. Dubai private schools must deliver Arabic regardless of the licensed curriculum, and KHDA requires Arab and non-Arab streams to be taught separately because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ. Support therefore has to be matched to the stream your child actually sits in, and it has to work with the school's own material: for these mandatory subjects, using different or additional content without prior Ministry permission is prohibited. Tell us which stream applies and we will match accordingly.

Is it too late to start if the mock results have already come back?+

Usually not, but the plan has to change shape. After mocks the work becomes diagnostic rather than instructional: the tutor reads the script, identifies which marks were lost to content gaps and which to technique, and sequences the remaining weeks backwards from the exam window. Two sessions a week across eight to ten weeks is the pattern that moves a grade at this stage. What does not work is re-teaching the course from the start. Bring the actual mock paper to the trial lesson rather than the reported grade.

Do school fees in Dubai tell me anything about what tutoring should cost?+

They give you context rather than a formula. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Against a frozen fee, a weekly specialist session at AED 200 to 450 an hour is a visible addition to the household education budget, and worth planning by term rather than by month. Dubai also added seven new private schools for 2026-27, four UK curriculum and three IB.

How quickly can lessons start from a Beachfront address?+

For a widely taught subject at SL, usually within a few days of the first conversation, because the only variable is matching a free hour. For a Higher Level specialist at a popular evening slot it can take longer, and for a niche subject it occasionally cannot be done that week at all. We would rather give you a date we can hold than a promise we cannot. The free trial lesson is the first fixed point; the weekly slot is agreed immediately after it.

Start with the trial lesson, not with the postcode

If you have been comparing Emaar Beachfront against Dubai Marina or JBR for tutoring coverage, the comparison on this page is the short version: the neighbourhoods differ on commute and session timing, and not on who can teach IB Chemistry HL. Tell us the subjects, the levels, the school and the hours that are genuinely free, and we will put a specialist against each subject and a slot against each hour in Gulf Standard Time. One free trial lesson per student, no card required, and a written view of where the marks are actually going whether or not you continue afterwards.
