IGCSE Home Tutor in Emaar Beachfront

Most families looking for an IGCSE home tutor in Emaar Beachfront are not shopping. They are counting weeks. This page is built around that count: which series your child is entered for, when the entries and internal deadlines actually fall, and what eight weeks of work can realistically change. Lessons run one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, so the plan does not depend on anyone crossing the causeway onto the peninsula.

  • UAE Cambridge candidates sit the June and November series
  • Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November
  • One-to-one live video sessions, same tutor each week

IB & IGCSE in Emaar Beachfront

Count the weeks first, then book the tutor

An IGCSE year has a shape, and almost every mistake families make with tutoring comes from ignoring it. The external papers are fixed months in advance. Entries close long before the first exam. The school's own mock window, coursework deadlines and practical assessments sit in front of that, and they are the signals that tell you whether the external result is on track. A tutor booked in response to a report card arrives at a different point in that shape than a tutor booked in response to a mock script, and the work they should do is not the same.

For UAE candidates the series are June and November with Cambridge. The February/March series exists, but Cambridge offers it to India only, so a Dubai family who plans around a February exam has planned around a date their centre will not sit. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and publishes a separate timetable for each; the guidance is explicit that using the wrong zone version is the centre's risk and that Cambridge cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who misses an exam as a result. Ask your school which zone it sits in before you build any plan on a published date.

Emaar Beachfront adds a logistical layer to that calendar. The peninsula is reached by one road link off King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, there is no school and no tuition centre inside it, and visitor access to tower basements needs a resident to clear it. Children here leave before 07:00 for schools in Al Sufouh, Al Barsha or Jumeirah and are back after 15:30. In an exam term, where two sessions a week is the pattern that moves a grade, a format that depends on a tutor crossing that causeway twice a week in the 16:00 to 19:00 window is the format most likely to lose sessions. IB Gram teaches one-to-one online over live video and does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; home visits are an India-only service.

What follows is the calendar in usable form. The milestones, counted backwards from the series, with who sets each one. The differences between Cambridge and Edexcel that change your dates rather than just your syllabus codes. An eight-week plan with the evidence you should be able to see at the end of each block. The AED rates this market charges, cheapest first, with each figure attributed to whoever published it. And the content boundary on coursework, which in an exam term is when families are most tempted to cross it.

One more thing before the detail. A tutoring plan is a claim about time, and the claim should be falsifiable. If a block is working you should be able to see it at the fortnight, in the form of a topic-level mark breakdown rather than a reassuring message. If you cannot see it, the plan is wrong and should change. Everything on this page is arranged so that you can tell the difference between progress and activity, which in an exam term is the only distinction that matters to a result.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An IGCSE plan depends on which of three stages your child is in, because the same subject needs different work in Year 9 than it does in the February before a June series. These are the stages Emaar Beachfront families schedule around.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Lower Secondary, Years 7 to 9

No external series, but this is where the IGCSE grade is largely decided. Algebraic manipulation, equation balancing, graph interpretation and written explanation either become automatic here or they do not. Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests run in March, May and October where a school uses them, which gives an early external reference point.

Several schools serving this cluster teach the IB Middle Years Programme to Year 9 before switching to IGCSE, so a Beachfront family may be preparing for a transition rather than a continuation. Confirm the school's published pathway before you plan two years of support.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE, Years 10 and 11

Two years, typically eight to ten subjects, examined externally at the end. Year 10 is content coverage; Year 11 is technique, timing and mark-scheme literacy. Core and Extended tiers cap the available grade differently, and the tier decision is usually made by the school in Year 10 on evidence it already holds.

For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, five accredited IGCSE or GCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3 are counted, and Arabic and Islamic Education are not included among those five. One ranking competitor publishes six as the requirement; the sourced figure is five.

Post-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

A Level or IB Diploma after IGCSE

The IGCSE grade is a gate rather than a destination. A Level and Diploma entry requirements are published by each school, and the subjects a student can continue are decided by the Year 11 results. Maths and the sciences are where the gap between an Extended grade B and a grade A shows up fastest in Year 12.

Equivalency on the British track also requires one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade, in addition to the five IGCSE subjects.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Cambridge and Edexcel subjects most requested from this cluster, with the syllabus codes that determine which papers your child actually sits. Check the code on the school's entry confirmation rather than assuming it from the subject name.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580, Edexcel 4MA1)

Core and Extended

Cambridge Core sits Papers 1 and 3 with a grade ceiling of C; Extended sits Papers 2 and 4 and reaches A*. Edexcel 4MA1 is tiered Foundation and Higher. Marks go missing in method lines rather than in final answers, and in rounding instructions that were given in the question.

Physics (Cambridge 0625, Edexcel 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity and circuits cause more lost marks than any other topic at this level, usually because a circuit diagram is redrawn wrongly before the physics starts. Cambridge offers a practical test or the Alternative to Practical paper; which one your child sits is a school decision.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620, Edexcel 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Moles, ionic equations and the qualitative analysis tables carry disproportionate marks. Students who memorise the test results without the reasoning cannot handle an unfamiliar salt, which is exactly what the Extended papers ask for.

Biology (Cambridge 0610, Edexcel 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Content-heavy and command-term sensitive. The commonest self-inflicted loss is answering a cheaper command term than the one printed: describing a graph when the question said explain, which scores nothing in the top band.

Combined and Coordinated Sciences (0653, 0654)

Core and Extended

Single or double award routes covering all three sciences in reduced depth. Useful for a student who needs the science requirement without three separate subjects, but the content is not simply a third of each: the selection differs, and revising from a single-science resource leaves gaps.

English First Language (0500) and English as a Second Language (0510/0511)

Core and Extended

Directed writing and composition reward structure and register control more than vocabulary. Reading responses lose marks for retelling the passage rather than selecting from it. Which syllabus a student is entered for changes the paper entirely.

Economics (0455)

Core and Extended

Diagram-led. A correct demand and supply shift drawn without axis labels or a stated direction of movement scores far below what the student knew. Data response questions reward reading the figures before writing the theory.

Business Studies (0450)

Core and Extended

Application marks dominate. A textbook definition applied to no named context collects the first mark and stops. Case study technique is teachable in a handful of sessions and is where most of the available improvement sits.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

Extended only

Taken alongside 0580 by students heading for A Level Maths or Maths AA HL. It front-loads calculus and trigonometry, and a student who is still insecure on 0580 algebra will struggle with both at once.

ICT (0417) and Computer Science (0478)

Core and Extended

Both carry practical components with strict file and evidence requirements. Marks are lost in documentation discipline rather than in coding ability: screenshots missing, filenames wrong, evidence not matching the task order.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

In an exam term the format matters less than the frequency, but the format decides whether the frequency survives contact with a Dubai afternoon. These are the three patterns we schedule for this cluster.

Twice-weekly exam block

Two sessions a week across eight to twelve weeks, sequenced backwards from the series rather than forwards from the textbook. Past papers are worked under timed conditions from the first week, and mark-scheme language is taught explicitly, because a student who cannot predict what the examiner wants cannot self-correct between sessions.

  • Work ordered by the exam window, not the teaching order
  • Timed past-paper sections every week
  • Mark schemes read with the student, not just applied to them
  • Block ends with the series instead of rolling on

Weekly support through Year 10

One fixed session a week while content is still being covered. The job here is prevention: keeping algebra, equation balancing and written explanation current so that Year 11 is technique work rather than a rescue. This is the cheapest version of IGCSE tutoring per grade moved, and the least often booked.

  • Same tutor each week through the content year
  • Topics closed as the school teaches them
  • Tier decision supported with real evidence
  • No cramming required in the final term

Single-subject rescue after mocks

A short, sharply scoped block on one subject where the mock exposed a specific failure. The tutor reads the actual script, separates content gaps from technique losses, and works only on the recoverable marks. It is a narrower product than general tutoring and it suits the six to eight weeks after a mock window.

  • Starts from the marked script, not the reported grade
  • Content gaps and technique losses separated explicitly
  • Only the recoverable marks are targeted
  • Progress measured against the same paper type each fortnight

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Emaar Beachfront

01

The IGCSE year counted backwards from the series

Every date that matters sits in front of the exam, not on it. Final entries close months before the first paper. Coursework and practical assessment deadlines are set internally by the school and are often the earliest hard date in the year. The mock window comes before that for most centres, and the tier decision between Core and Extended is taken on evidence the school collects earlier still. A family who starts tutoring after the entry has been filed has lost the ability to change the tier, which is sometimes the single largest available improvement.

The windows themselves are published and should be read from the awarding body rather than restated from a tutoring site. Pearson's November 2026 International GCSE final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, with results reaching students in January; the November 2025 series results landed with students on 22 January 2026. June 2026 Edexcel results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026. Cambridge publishes a separate timetable for each of its six administrative zones and warns that the wrong version is the centre's responsibility. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, which is why this page links the live official timetable instead of reprinting dates that can be revised.

Use the table as a planning spine and fill in your own school's internal dates alongside it. The column that matters most is the last one: what a student should already have done by each milestone. A student who reaches the final-entry deadline without a completed timed paper under exam conditions is not ready for a tier decision, whatever the report card says. A student who reaches the mock window without having read a mark scheme is about to receive a grade that reflects technique rather than knowledge, and will be tutored for the wrong problem as a result.

Cambridge or Edexcel: the differences that change your dates

Parents are usually told the two boards are equivalent, which is true of the qualification and misleading about the planning. The syllabus codes differ, the paper structures differ, the practical assessment arrangements differ, and the resit timing differs. A student revising Cambridge Physics 0625 from an Edexcel 4PH1 resource will meet questions in the wrong format, and the formula support available in the exam is not the same either.

The resit route is where the practical difference bites hardest. A Cambridge candidate who underperforms in June looks to November. A Pearson candidate has the same November option, with results arriving in January rather than in August. For a Year 11 student whose post-16 place depends on a grade, the January result changes what can be negotiated with a sixth form and when. That is a conversation to have with the school before the June series, not after the result.

Ask the school three questions and write the answers down: which board and which syllabus code for each subject, which tier the child is entered at, and which practical component applies. Those three facts determine every past paper your child should be working from. Families in this cluster regularly discover in April that half a year of revision has been done from the wrong board's papers, which is a tutoring failure rather than a student failure. Keep the written answers somewhere the whole family can see them, because the person buying past papers online in February is rarely the same person who spoke to the exams officer in September. A single line on the fridge naming the board, the code and the tier for each subject prevents more wasted revision than any study technique.

An eight-week plan that actually changes a grade

Eight weeks is the window families in this cluster most often arrive with, usually a fortnight after mock results. It is enough time to move a grade in one or two subjects and not enough to rescue five. The first decision is therefore which subjects to work on, and the honest answer is the ones where the mock script shows marks lost to technique rather than to absent content. A student who understood the topic and wrote a poor answer is a faster repair than a student who never secured the topic.

The structure that works is diagnostic, then narrow, then broad. Weeks one and two are spent on the marked scripts and on one timed paper per subject, with no teaching at all beyond what the errors demand. Weeks three to five take the two or three topics responsible for the largest mark loss and close them properly, with past-paper questions on each topic rather than textbook exercises. Weeks six to eight return to whole papers under timing, marked against the real mark scheme with the student doing the marking first and the tutor auditing it.

The evidence you should be able to see is specific. By the end of week two, a mark breakdown by topic rather than a percentage. By week five, the same topic questions answered correctly without prompting. By week eight, two full papers at or above the target grade boundary with the student able to predict their own mark within a few marks. If those checkpoints are not appearing, the plan is wrong and should be changed rather than extended, which is a conversation we would rather have in week three than in week seven.

What IGCSE tutoring costs in Dubai, cheapest first

Begin at the bottom of the market because that is where most families start looking. EdFlik advertises online tutoring from AED 45 to 65 an hour and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. At that level you are usually buying a university student with good subject knowledge and limited exam-technique experience, which is adequate for homework support in Year 9 and thin for an Extended-tier paper in Year 11. Bestimate's monthly estimate for budget provision at one hour a week is AED 240 to 600.

The next band is qualified subject tutors delivering online, where Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200, and the broader market sits between AED 150 and 300 an hour. Bestimate puts the monthly figure for this tier at AED 600 to 1,200. Above that are IB, IGCSE and A Level specialists at AED 200 to 450 and upwards, with TutorChase quoting AED 270 and BartyED at AED 650 for premium cover. In-home visits including travel are quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and AED 200 to 500 by independent home tutors, with monthly packages seen at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits against AED 799 a month for eight online sessions.

Two observations worth carrying into any conversation. First, the in-home premium is a travel charge, not a quality charge; the same person online costs less and loses no teaching time to the causeway. Second, three of the seven competitor pages researched for this market publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars. Every figure above was read in October 2026 and is attributed to the source that published it. They describe the market, not IB Gram's rates; ours are agreed after the free trial lesson, once the subject count and session frequency are known.

Why the exam term is the worst time to rely on a tutor crossing the causeway

  • Sixteen to twenty-four appointments in a term; every missed one costs a week
  • One road link, escorted parking, and the 16:00 to 19:00 crush
  • Extended-tier specialists at a fixed twice-weekly hour are scarce in April
  • Online sessions move by thirty minutes instead of being cancelled

An exam-term plan needs two sessions a week for eight to twelve weeks. That is sixteen to twenty-four appointments, each of which has to happen. The arithmetic of an in-home arrangement on this peninsula is unkind to that: a tutor travelling to a Beachfront address spends roughly two and a quarter hours to deliver one, needs a resident to clear basement access, and crosses a single road link in the window between 16:00 and 19:00 when the whole cluster is moving. Lose two sessions out of twenty and the plan has lost a week it does not have.

The second problem is the shortlist. Filtering for people who teach Extended-tier Chemistry 0620 or Physics 0625, who are free twice a week at a fixed hour, and who will drive onto the peninsula, leaves very few names in April. Families take whoever is available, which is how a Year 11 student in the eight weeks that matter most ends up with a generalist running through a textbook. The grade does not move and the conclusion drawn is that tutoring does not work.

Online one-to-one removes both constraints at once. The slot can shift by half an hour without anyone losing an evening, it survives a family trip, and the tutor is selected for the syllabus code and tier rather than for proximity. IB Gram does not sell home visits in the UAE, so the comparison here is between our online sessions and what the local in-home market charges. If a tutor in the room is non-negotiable for your child, the rates in the table above tell you what that costs; for a Year 11 exam block it buys presence and costs reliability.

06

Ramadan, the UAE school calendar and when revision actually happens

  • School hours shorten during Ramadan; the session pattern should be agreed before it starts
  • Post-iftar and weekend-morning slots both work; a month off does not
  • Mark the school's breaks, trips and mock window before fixing the plan
  • A ten-week plan is usually eight usable weeks once the calendar is checked

The UAE academic calendar puts real constraints on an exam-term plan and almost no competitor page acknowledges them. School hours shorten during Ramadan, the working day shifts, and families reorganise around iftar. For a student entered in a summer series, that often falls inside the most important revision block of the two years. A plan written in January that assumes a steady 17:00 session every week until June will break, and the break will be blamed on the student.

The workable approach is to decide the Ramadan pattern in advance rather than improvising it. Some families move sessions to the post-iftar evening and find concentration is better than it was at 17:00. Others shift to late mornings at the weekend and reduce midweek frequency. Both work; what does not work is cancelling for a month and resuming in the final fortnight. The content closure planned for those weeks has to land somewhere, and the only remaining space is the week before the paper.

The same forward planning applies to the school's own calendar. Mid-term breaks, sports fixtures, Model United Nations trips and the school's mock window all compete for the same hours. Ask for the school calendar in writing at the start of the block, mark the unavailable weeks, and build the plan on the weeks that remain. A ten-week plan on paper is often an eight-week plan in practice, and knowing which eight weeks they are changes what can be promised.

07

Coursework, practicals and the line a tutor does not cross

IGCSE carries less internally assessed work than the Diploma, but what it does carry is tightly controlled and it falls in the same weeks as the heaviest revision. Practical skills components, ICT and Computer Science practical tasks and any coursework element are assessed under conditions the school sets within the board's rules. Pressure peaks exactly when a family is most likely to ask a tutor for something they should not.

The line is the same at IGCSE as at Diploma level. A tutor may teach the content and the practical technique, explain how a component is marked, review a method, point out that a results table has no units, and give feedback on work the student has produced. A tutor may not complete a task, supply work for submission, or do the write-up. Reproducing or supplying board syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables as downloads is also off limits; those are referenced and linked to their official source, not handed over as files.

This is worth stating plainly because the market around these queries includes operations that do sell completed work. One page researched for this project sells finished Internal Assessments at a published price. The equivalent at IGCSE is a completed practical write-up or coursework piece, and a student who submits one is exposed to a malpractice finding that can void the subject or the series. Our tutors work on the student's own material, use the school's deadlines as the schedule, and will say no to the other request directly.

Starting an exam-term plan from a Beachfront address

  • Send board, syllabus code, tier, mock scripts and the genuinely free hours
  • Free trial lesson, one per student, used to diagnose rather than sell
  • Tutor changed if the match is wrong, in week two rather than week seven
  • Two subjects moved properly beats five subjects touched lightly

Send four things: the subject list with board and syllabus code, the tier for each subject, the mock results with the actual scripts if you have them, and the hours that are genuinely free once the school bus and dinner are accounted for. The scripts matter more than the grades. A grade tells us the student is at a 5; the script tells us whether that is three topics missing or twenty marks of technique, and those require different tutors and different session counts.

We then match a specialist per subject and propose slots in Gulf Standard Time. One free trial lesson per student, no card required, used for diagnosis rather than for selling: by the end of it you should have a written view of where the marks are going and how many sessions the gap realistically needs. If the match is wrong after the trial or after week two, we change the tutor. Persisting with a poor match in an exam term is the most expensive thing a family can do with the weeks it has left.

Finally, the honest limits. Eight weeks will not rescue five subjects, and anyone who says otherwise is selling hours. A niche subject at a specific twice-weekly hour sometimes has no specialist free that week, and when that is the case we say so and offer the realistic alternatives rather than filling the slot with whoever is available. We also cannot promise a grade, and no tutor who has read a mark scheme would. What we can do is make the remaining weeks count and tell you each fortnight whether they are.

Where we tutor

Where this cluster lives and where it studies

Session timing on an exam-term plan depends on the school run, which depends on the address. These are the communities around Emaar Beachfront and what each one does to an afternoon.

Emaar Beachfront

Residential towers on a reclaimed peninsula with a single road link, no school inside it and escorted visitor parking. Children travel out before 07:00 and return after 15:30, which sets 17:00 as the practical floor for a weekday session.

Dubai Harbour

The adjoining development around the cruise terminal and marina berths, sharing the same access corridor. Exam-term scheduling here behaves identically to the Beachfront, and cruise-call days add an unpredictable afternoon variable.

Dubai Marina

Older and denser, with tram access and the most road capacity in the cluster. That capacity is fully used between 15:30 and 19:00, which is precisely when a twice-weekly exam-term plan needs to run.

JBR

Walkable, long-settled, and home to much of the cluster's established freelance tutoring. Families here still hit the same shortage of Extended-tier science specialists in the eight weeks before a series.

Al Sufouh

Where a large share of the cluster's secondary schooling happens. Useful to know when planning around a school's own mock window, because the mocks in this corridor tend to cluster in the same fortnight.

JLT and The Greens

Across Sheikh Zayed Road, with their own feeder schools and a high concentration of independent tutors. The road crossing at the hour you need is the reason proximity does not translate into availability.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Confirm the board, code and tier

Ask the school for the syllabus code and tier for every subject and write them down. 0580 Extended and 4MA1 Higher need different past papers, and a term of revision from the wrong board's material is the commonest avoidable waste in an exam year.

  2. 02

Send the mock scripts, not just the grades

The marked paper shows whether marks went to missing content or to technique. Those need different work, different tutors and different session counts, and a reported percentage cannot distinguish between them. If the school will release the script, that is the single most useful document you can send us.

  3. 03

Fix the slots around the real afternoon

Two sessions a week at 17:00 or later, chosen against the school bus rather than against an ideal timetable. Mark the school's breaks, trips and mock window first so the plan is built on weeks that actually exist, and agree the Ramadan pattern before it arrives.

  4. 04

Free trial, then a written diagnosis

One trial lesson per student, no card required. It ends with a view of where the marks are going, which topics are unsecured, and how many sessions the gap needs. You keep that assessment whether or not you continue with us.

  5. 05

Review at the fortnight, not at the end

Every two weeks the plan is checked against the evidence: topic-level mark breakdowns, then unprompted correct answers, then self-predicted marks on full papers. If the checkpoints are not appearing, the plan changes. Extending a plan that is not working is how eight weeks become four.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The calendar is published, not implied

This page names the series UAE candidates actually sit, the zone-timetable risk, and the dated results milestones for the Edexcel series read in October 2026. Exam-session awareness returned near-zero across the competitor pages researched for this market.

Syllabus codes, not subject names

0580, 0620, 0625, 0610, 4MA1, 4PH1. The code decides which papers your child sits and which past papers are worth working. Exactly one syllabus code appeared across the entire seven-page area cluster researched for this project.

Sessions survive a Dubai afternoon

An exam block is sixteen to twenty-four appointments. Online delivery means a closed lane, a late school activity or a family trip costs thirty minutes of rescheduling rather than a lost week of a plan that has no spare weeks in it.

Rates with their sources attached

Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the competitor or market source that published it, read in October 2026, and presented as the market rather than as our price list. Three of seven researched competitor pages publish no price at all.

Assessed work stays the student's own

Tutors teach practical technique, explain how components are marked and give feedback on the student's own work. They do not complete tasks, supply files or write up results, and they will refuse the request rather than negotiate it.

No regulator is claimed as a credential

KHDA inspects Dubai private schools; MoHRE issues the private tuition permit. Neither endorses a tutoring platform, and IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, MoE, Cambridge or Pearson accreditation. Pages that imply otherwise are selling a credential that does not exist.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Emaar Beachfront: your questions answered

Can an IGCSE tutor come to our apartment in Emaar Beachfront?+

Not through IB Gram. We teach one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, and we do not provide home visits anywhere in the UAE; that is an India-only service. Independent home tutors in Dubai do visit this peninsula, and market sources quote AED 180 to 500 an hour for in-home one-to-one with travel included. In an exam term the trade-off is sharp: a visit buys a person in the room, and costs you the sessions lost to one access road and escorted basement parking across a sixteen-session block.

Which series is a Beachfront candidate entered for, June or November?+

With Cambridge, the June series or the November series. The February/March series exists but Cambridge offers it to India only, so a UAE plan built around a February exam is built on a date the centre will not sit. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. Cambridge also allocates each centre to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable, and using the wrong zone version is the centre's risk. Ask your exams officer which board, which series and which zone before fixing any revision plan.

If we take the November resit route, when would the result reach us?+

For Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, November results reach students in January: the November 2025 series results landed with students on 22 January 2026, and the November 2026 final timetable ran to 19 November 2026. June results come sooner, with June 2026 results reaching centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026. Cambridge publishes its own release dates per series. Because provisional timetables are revised, check the awarding body's live timetable page rather than any tutoring site, including this one.

Is eight weeks enough time to change an IGCSE grade?+

In one or two subjects, often yes. In five, no. The deciding factor is what the mock script shows: marks lost to technique on content the student understood are recoverable in weeks, while three absent topics are not. A workable eight-week block spends two weeks diagnosing, three closing the highest-cost topics, and three on whole papers under timing. If the checkpoints at week two and week five do not appear, the plan should change rather than be extended into the final fortnight.

What is the difference between Core and Extended, and can we change tier?+

Core and Extended are different paper sets with different grade ceilings: Cambridge Core sits Papers 1 and 3 and tops out at C, while Extended sits Papers 2 and 4 and reaches A*. Edexcel tiers as Foundation and Higher. The tier is chosen by the school on its own evidence, usually in Year 10, and once final entries are filed it is no longer a live decision. That is why a family who starts tutoring after the entry deadline has lost one of the largest available improvements.

Will five IGCSE passes be enough for Ministry equivalency later on?+

Five. On the British track, students must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and Arabic and Islamic Education are not included among those five. One accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or better, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade, is also required. One ranking competitor publishes six subjects as the requirement; the sourced figure is five. Verify the current rule on the Ministry's own channel before acting.

Can a tutor working over video prepare my child for the 0625 practical component?+

The practical assessment happens at school, under conditions the school sets within the board's rules. Cambridge sciences are assessed either through a practical test or through the Alternative to Practical paper, and which one applies is the school's decision. Online tutoring works on the examinable part: apparatus choice, sources of error, how to read a results table, why a repeat was needed, and the write-up conventions the mark scheme rewards. A tutor teaches that technique; the tutor does not produce results or write the method up.

What should I pay for IGCSE tutoring in this part of Dubai?+

Market rates read in October 2026 run from AED 33 to 65 an hour at the budget end, from AED 150 for a qualified subject tutor online, AED 200 to 450 and above for specialists, and AED 180 to 500 for in-home visits with travel included. Monthly estimates for one session a week are AED 240 to 600 budget, AED 600 to 1,200 mid and AED 1,000 to 2,000 for specialist exam-year work. Those are other providers' published figures, not ours; our number is set after the trial lesson.

Should we revise from Cambridge or Edexcel past papers?+

From whichever board your child is entered with, and only after you have the syllabus code. Cambridge 0625 Physics and Edexcel 4PH1 Physics cover similar content in different paper formats with different formula support, so practising the wrong one trains the wrong technique. Ask the exams officer for the board, the code and the tier for every subject in writing. Families in this cluster regularly discover in April that months of revision used the wrong board's material, and that is a planning failure rather than a student failure.

How should we schedule the revision block once Ramadan starts?+

Decide the pattern before it starts rather than improvising. School hours shorten and the family day reorganises around iftar, so the useful options are a post-iftar evening session, which many students concentrate better in than a 17:00 slot, or late weekend mornings with reduced midweek frequency. What fails is cancelling for the month and resuming in the final fortnight, because the content closure planned for those weeks has nowhere else to go but the week before the paper.

My child is in Year 10. Is it too early for a tutor?+

Year 10 is the cheapest point to buy a grade. The content is still being taught, so a weekly session closes topics as they land rather than reconstructing them a year later, and the tier decision is still live and can be supported with real evidence. Prevention at one session a week through Year 10 costs less over two years than a twice-weekly rescue block in the spring of Year 11, and it removes the scenario where the tier was set low on thin evidence.

Which IGCSE subjects do students in this cluster struggle with most?+

Extended Maths 0580, Physics 0625 and Chemistry 0620, in that order, with electricity, moles and ionic equations accounting for a disproportionate share of lost marks. English First Language causes a different problem: students read well and write answers that retell the passage rather than selecting from it, which is a technique gap rather than an ability gap. Additional Maths 0606 is the subject most often taken by students who are not yet secure on the 0580 algebra underneath it.

Do you keep to our school's deadlines or your own schedule?+

Your school's. The school sets the coursework and practical deadlines, the mock window and the internal reporting cycle, and those are the dates the plan is built around. Send the school calendar at the start of a block so the unavailable weeks are marked before the plan is fixed; a ten-week plan on paper is often eight usable weeks once trips, breaks and mocks are counted. Knowing which eight weeks they are changes what can honestly be promised in them.

What if the tutor is not the right fit in week two?+

Say so and we change them. A poor match in an exam term is expensive in a way it is not in Year 9, because there are no spare weeks to absorb it. The signals are specific: the student cannot say what the session was about afterwards, the work between sessions is not being set or checked, or the fortnightly evidence checkpoints are not appearing. We would rather move a tutor in week two than defend a match in week seven when nothing can be rebuilt.

Tell us the series, and we will work backwards from it

An IGCSE plan is only as good as the calendar it is built on. Send the board and syllabus code for each subject, the tier, the mock scripts if the school will release them, and the hours that genuinely exist after the bus from Al Barsha or Al Sufouh. We will match a specialist per subject, propose slots in Gulf Standard Time, and sequence the work backwards from the June or November series rather than forwards from a textbook. One free trial lesson per student, no card required, ending in a written view of where the marks are actually going.
