IB DP Hindi B Tutor in Dubai

Hindi is the one Diploma language in Dubai where the speakers are everywhere and the right tutor is still hard to find. An IB DP Hindi B tutor in Dubai is not scarce because Hindi is scarce; a conversation hour sits at the bottom of the published market band, while a tutor who can mark a written task against the IB's criteria and fix Devanagari reading speed sits at the top of it. This page explains what you are paying for, in AED, and teaches one-to-one live online.

  • Market AED bands on this page carry their source and the month they were read
  • Script and register work priced separately from conversation practice
  • Course-fit advice given before hours are sold, including when to ask about Language A

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Why a city full of Hindi speakers still has a Hindi B problem

Dubai has no shortage of people who speak excellent Hindi. The Indian curriculum accounted for 26 per cent of private-school enrolment in the emirate in 2024-25, inside a sector of 387,441 students across 227 schools and 17 different curricula. A family looking for someone to converse with their child in Hindi has an abundant market and can buy at the bottom of the published rate band, around AED 45 to AED 150 an hour. That is not the problem a Hindi B family actually has.

The problem is that most Hindi B candidates in this city are not learning Hindi. They already speak it, often daily at home, and they are losing marks on things fluency does not touch: reading Devanagari at exam speed, choosing between formal and informal address consistently, producing the text type a task demanded rather than the content it suggested, and writing with matra accuracy that a lifetime of speaking never required. Those are literacy and register problems, and the tutor who can diagnose them is in the same scarce tier as any other IB language specialist, at AED 200 to AED 450 an hour and above.

That gap between abundant supply and scarce skill is the whole economics of Hindi B in Dubai, and it explains the quotes families find confusing. A relative, a neighbour or a conversation tutor will charge very little and will genuinely help a weaker speaker. For a home-fluent student, those hours buy almost nothing, because the thing costing marks is not spoken Hindi. Paying AED 100 an hour for the wrong work is more expensive than paying AED 300 for the right work, and families discover this somewhere around the first mock.

There is a second decision sitting underneath the cost question, and it is worth settling before any money moves. Hindi is available in the Diploma as a Group 2 language acquisition course and also as a Language A literature course, including as a school-supported self-taught option at Standard Level in some schools. A genuinely home-fluent student in Hindi B may be in a course that cannot reward what they can already do. Confirm the options with your child's IB coordinator, because the right course choice changes the tutoring bill far more than any negotiation over an hourly rate.

Everything below is specific to this market: the three Hindi B student profiles and what each actually costs, why script literacy is the hidden expense for a fluent speaker, the course-fit question in detail, where Paper 1 marks go in Hindi, what KHDA's mandatory Arabic requirement does to an Indian-curriculum family's timetable and budget, and a term-by-term plan with the questions that reliably cut a quote. Teaching is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India.

At a glance

  • Conversation in Hindi is abundant and cheap in Dubai; criterion-level marking is not
  • Most candidates are home-fluent, so the marks are lost on script, register and text type
  • Hindi is offered as a Group 2 B course and as a Language A literature course; check both
  • KHDA requires Arabic in every Dubai private school, which competes for the same evenings
  • Taught live online one-to-one; home visits are an India-only service
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A Hindi B candidate's starting point is set years before DP1, usually by how much Devanagari reading happened rather than by how much Hindi was spoken. The notes below follow that thread.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Hindi B is a Group 2 language acquisition course at Standard and Higher Level. Both levels sit a written Paper 1, listening and reading as the halves of Paper 2, and an internally conducted individual oral. Higher Level adds two literary works and bases its oral on an extract from one of them.

In Dubai, Hindi B sets inside IB schools are often small while the surrounding community is overwhelmingly Hindi-speaking, which produces an odd classroom: strong speakers with widely differing literacy. One teacher managing that spread is why script work is the most commonly outsourced part of the course here.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

MYP Hindi runs in phases, and the phase a student reaches by Year 11 depends mostly on reading. A student who read Devanagari texts regularly through MYP arrives in DP1 ready for Higher Level; one who spoke Hindi at home and read it rarely arrives fluent and slow on the page.

Many Dubai families switch their child between Hindi, Arabic, French and Spanish across MYP depending on what each new school offers. The result is a student whose spoken Hindi is native and whose written Hindi stopped developing in Year 7, and no transcript records that split.

CBSE to DP transferAges 15-17 · Entry to DP1

Moving from an Indian-curriculum school into the Diploma

A student arriving from CBSE or ICSE has usually studied Hindi as a formal school subject with grammar instruction and set texts. They bring strong script literacy and formal register, and almost no experience of the IB's text types, criteria or the idea that audience and purpose are themselves marked.

This is one of the most common transitions in Dubai and it needs the shortest, most targeted tutoring of any Hindi B profile. Six to ten sessions on IB text types and criteria converts existing Hindi into IB marks. Paying for two years of general Hindi support in this case is money spent on something the student already has.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

CP students meet Hindi through the language development core requirement rather than as an examined Group 2 subject. There is no Paper 1 and no individual oral; the requirement is documented development over time, recorded as a portfolio.

Few Dubai schools run the CP, and families often reach the language development requirement unclear about what counts as evidence. Support here is short and inexpensive relative to a two-year Diploma engagement, and it should end once the portfolio is credible.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The grid below covers the language acquisition courses we teach, with each description written around the gap that actually generates the tutoring bill for that subject.

Hindi B

SL and HL

The unusual one. Most candidates arrive fluent and lose marks on Devanagari reading speed, matra accuracy, consistency of formal and informal address, and text-type conventions. Conversation hours help a weak speaker and do nothing for the typical Dubai candidate, which is why the quote should specify what the hour contains.

Hindi B HL literature

HL only

Two literary works chosen by the school, with the Higher Level oral built on an extract. For a fluent speaker this is the component with the most room to gain, because talking about a text rather than retelling it is a trained skill that spoken fluency does not supply.

Urdu B

SL and HL

Frequently requested in Dubai and frequently confused with Hindi support because the spoken languages overlap heavily. The scripts do not, and a student literate in one is not literate in the other, so tutor matching here has to be exact rather than approximate.

Arabic B and Arabic ab initio

SL and HL

Doubly relevant for an Indian-curriculum family in Dubai, because KHDA requires Arabic in every private school regardless of the licensed curriculum. A student may be taking Arabic as a Diploma subject and sitting in the school's mandatory Arabic stream at the same time.

Spanish B

SL and HL

A common second choice for students who do not want Hindi assessed, since it starts from a lower base with no literacy legacy. Families weighing Hindi against Spanish should compare two years of script repair against two years of learning a language from a low base.

French B

SL and HL

Chosen for university reasons more often than Hindi in this city. The error profile is entirely different, clustering in sound-to-spelling and tense formation rather than in script speed and register, so the two subjects need different kinds of tutor.

Mandarin ab initio

SL only

The beginner option families consider when a child has no heritage language to use. Character recognition has to be built from nothing, so the cost curve is the reverse of Hindi: slow and expensive at the start, predictable later.

English A: Language and Literature

SL and HL

Shares the internally assessed oral window with Hindi B, so the two compete for the same DP2 rehearsal weeks. Families booking support for both should settle the order of the two orals before booking either.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Lands in the same stretch of DP2 as the language orals. A tutor coaches the student's own thinking and comments on the student's own drafts; the exhibition and essay must be written by the student alone.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Hindi B hours are worth buying in different shapes depending on which of the three student profiles applies. All teaching is live and online, and each shape below has a defined end point rather than running indefinitely.

Script and register block

The core product for a home-fluent student: timed Devanagari reading to build speed, matra accuracy drills, and consistent handling of formal and informal address across text types. Usually eight to twelve sessions, measured by reading speed and by marked written work rather than by how the lessons feel.

  • Reading speed timed at the start and re-timed every third session
  • Matra and spelling accuracy tracked in a written log
  • Formal and informal register practised as paired tasks
  • Ends when the measures move, not on a rolling monthly basis

IB conversion block for a CBSE or ICSE transfer

Six to ten sessions that convert existing Hindi into IB marks: the text types, the three Paper 1 criteria, the idea that audience and purpose carry marks of their own, and the format of the individual oral. The shortest useful engagement in this subject and the one most often oversold as a two-year plan.

  • One text type per session, written and marked
  • Criterion-level feedback rather than a mark out of ten
  • Oral format rehearsed on unseen stimuli
  • Fixed scope agreed in writing before the first session

Weekly teaching with marking between sessions

For students whose Hindi is genuinely developing rather than needing repair, or for Higher Level candidates working through the two literary works. One fixed weekly slot with a written task set and marked outside the hour, so contact time stays on teaching.

  • Fixed Gulf Standard Time slot agreed before starting
  • One criterion-scored task a week, annotated
  • Higher Level literature run as a separate costed block
  • Indicative AED 600-1,200 a month at mid-market rates for one hour a week

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What you are actually buying, and what it costs in Dubai

Published market rates in this city, read from provider rate cards and Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table in October 2026, run from AED 45 to AED 150 an hour at the budget end, AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified language teacher working online, AED 200 to AED 450 and above for an IB-experienced specialist, and AED 180 to AED 500 for an in-home visit with travel inside the fee. Those bands are the market and not an IB Gram price list.

For Hindi specifically, the interesting feature is how differently the supply sits across those tiers. The bottom tier is unusually deep here, because Dubai has a very large Hindi-speaking population and conversation capability is abundant. The top tier is no deeper than it is for French or German, because knowing how a Paper 1 task is marked against language, message and conceptual understanding is a professional skill rather than a linguistic one. So the spread you will be quoted for Hindi is wider than for any other Diploma language in this city, and the cheap end is genuinely cheap.

That makes the key question not how much but what for. The table below separates the kinds of hour, what each produces, and what it cannot do however many of them you buy. The right-hand column is the one families most need, because the commonest expensive mistake in Hindi B is buying twenty hours of the cheapest product for a problem that product cannot touch.

One structural point about our own position: IB Gram does not publish a price list on these pages, because the rate depends on the match and on which of the three profiles applies. What we publish is the market with its sources, so that any quote, including ours, can be checked against it. The first lesson is free, one per student, with no card details taken, and the rate is agreed in writing afterwards.

Three Hindi B profiles, three different bills

Almost every Hindi B enquiry from Dubai falls into one of three profiles, and the sensible spend differs by a factor of four between them. Establishing which one applies takes a single diagnostic session, and getting it wrong is the main reason families here feel they have spent money without result.

The home-fluent student is the largest group. They speak Hindi daily, read Devanagari slowly, and write with matra errors that never mattered in speech. Their work is literacy and register, eight to twelve focused sessions, and it is finished rather than ongoing. They do not need weekly tutoring for two years, and a provider who sells them that is selling comfort.

The curriculum transfer is the cheapest to help. A student arriving from CBSE or ICSE has formal Hindi instruction behind them, including grammar and set texts, and lacks only the IB's framing: text types, the three Paper 1 criteria, audience and purpose as marked features, and the shape of the individual oral. Six to ten sessions converts what they already have into marks. This is the profile most often mis-sold a two-year plan.

The genuine learner is the smallest group in Dubai and the most expensive: a student with limited Hindi at home taking the subject anyway, often for timetable reasons. They need what any language learner needs, which is volume over time, one session a week across two years, and the cheapest conversation hours have real value for them precisely because fluency is the gap. The table puts the three side by side with indicative monthly bands from Bestimate's 2026 Dubai estimates.

03

Script literacy: the cost a fluent speaker never expects

  • Time a reading passage in week one and write the number down
  • Log matra and spelling errors so the pattern is visible, not anecdotal
  • Re-time every third session on comparable material
  • Expect the block to end in eight to twelve sessions rather than roll on

A student who has spoken Hindi since infancy can be functionally slow at reading it, and the two facts sit together comfortably until an exam applies a clock. Reading speed is the single most under-diagnosed issue in Hindi B in this city, because nobody checks it. A parent hears fluent Hindi at dinner and reasonably concludes the subject is safe.

The symptoms are specific. A student reads a short text accurately but at perhaps half the speed required to finish the reading paper with time to check. They write confidently and place matras inconsistently, because the vowel marks were never needed in speech. They confuse similar consonant forms under time pressure. And in listening they perform well, which disguises the reading problem further, since both sit inside the same Paper 2.

The work is measurable, which is what makes it worth paying specialist rates for. Time a short passage at the start, record the figure, and re-time every third session on comparable material. Keep a written log of matra and spelling errors so the pattern is visible rather than anecdotal. Within eight to twelve sessions reading speed typically moves enough to change the reading paper, and the engagement can honestly end, which is rare in tutoring and should be the stated plan from the beginning.

This is also the clearest case against the cheapest hours. A conversation tutor will not time a passage, will not log matra errors and has no reason to, because conversation is the product. The AED 100 difference between a conversation hour and a specialist hour buys a measurement, and without the measurement nobody, including the student, can tell whether the problem exists.

04

Hindi B or Hindi as a Language A: the question that changes the bill

Before buying hours, settle the course. Hindi appears in the Diploma both as a Group 2 language acquisition subject and as a Language A literature course, and in some schools Language A literature can be taken at Standard Level as a school-supported self-taught option. Which of those a home-fluent student should be in is a decision for your child and their IB coordinator, and it has a larger effect on two years of spending than any rate negotiation.

The argument for asking the question is simple. A genuinely home-fluent student in a language acquisition course is working inside a ceiling built for learners, and the work that gains them marks is literacy and criteria rather than language. Some students are much better served by a literature course that assesses what they can actually do with the language, and some are not, particularly if their reading speed is the very thing that is weak. Nobody can answer it from a webpage, which is precisely why it should be a conversation with the school rather than an assumption.

What a tutor can honestly contribute is evidence for that conversation: a timed reading figure, a marked written task with criterion scores, and an assessment of whether the student can discuss a text rather than summarise it. Bring those to the coordinator and the discussion becomes concrete. Arriving with an opinion and no evidence usually ends with the status quo.

Treat anyone who answers this question instantly with caution, in either direction. A provider who recommends the more expensive option within five minutes of meeting your child has not assessed anything, and a provider who refuses to discuss it at all is avoiding the only decision on this page that might reduce what you spend. Confirm what your child's school actually offers, because self-taught options are school-dependent and not universally available.

05

Where Paper 1 marks go in Hindi, and why register does the damage

  • Roughly 12, 12 and 6 marks across language, message and conceptual understanding
  • Register drift mid-task is the signature error of a fluent speaker
  • One text type per session, written and marked, is the efficient pattern
  • Three-task cycle: baseline, targeted task, retention check

Paper 1 asks for a written task that names a text type, an audience and a purpose. In the current guide it is marked on language, message and conceptual understanding, carrying twelve, twelve and six marks; confirm the allocations against your child's subject guide. The consequence is that fewer than half the marks are grammar and vocabulary, and a fluent Hindi speaker can lose the rest without noticing.

Register is where it happens. Hindi marks social relationship grammatically, and a student writing to an unfamiliar adult, a public audience and a close friend must handle each differently and consistently. The commonest script error is drift: a task opens formally and slides into the register the student uses at home halfway down the page. Spoken fluency actively encourages that slide, because in conversation the register is set by the person in front of you rather than by a brief on a page.

Text types do the rest of the damage, and they are the same conventions any Diploma language candidate has to learn. A letter needs its greeting and sign-off, an article needs a headline and a reader, a speech needs an audience addressed out loud, a diary entry needs a voice. A student who has written each one once with criterion feedback stops losing those marks permanently. One text type per session is the most efficient use of a Hindi B hour for a fluent speaker, and it is work that finishes.

The teaching cycle is three tasks: a baseline marked across all three criteria, a targeted task testing the weakest one, and a retention check on a task that is not about it. A gain that survives inattention is a gain. Families should expect to see all three scripts together with the criterion scores, rather than a verbal report that the student is doing better.

06

The mandatory Arabic timetable, and what it does to your budget

An Indian-curriculum family in Dubai budgeting for Hindi support is usually budgeting for Arabic support in the same term, and the reason is regulatory rather than academic. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA's requirements were to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, or April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April.

The detail matters for planning. KHDA requires separate classes by group: for Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs, and combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because of different curriculum expectations and language of instruction. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided total weekly time is met, and it is advised that any mandatory subject lesson runs at least 25 minutes. For the mandatory subjects, the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited.

Two practical consequences follow. The first is competition for evenings: a student carrying Hindi B, the mandatory Arabic stream and six Diploma subjects has fewer genuinely free slots than the week appears to offer, so a Hindi plan that assumes two sessions a week is often a plan that will not hold. The second is that the content restriction on mandatory subjects limits what any tutor can legitimately offer for the Arabic stream, which is worth knowing before paying anybody for it.

The table sets out who takes what and under which rule, sourced from KHDA's mandatory subjects guidelines. It is also a useful reference when a school's letter about Arabic arrives and the requirements read as more negotiable than they are.

07

A term-by-term plan, and the questions that cut a quote

  • Is marking inside or outside the paid hour?
  • What is the end point of this engagement, and what measure defines it?
  • Which two literary works did the school choose, and has the tutor read them?
  • Does the AED figure include VAT, confirmed in writing?
  • Does the tutor hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit?

Because most Hindi B work is a block rather than a subscription, the plan looks different from other language subjects. For a home-fluent student the shape is a script and register block early in DP1, an IB text-type block alongside it, light maintenance through the middle, a Higher Level literature block if applicable, and an oral rehearsal block before the school records. Total engagement is often twenty to thirty sessions across two years rather than eighty.

The timing that matters most is the oral window. Individual orals are internally conducted and recorded inside a window each school sets, and those windows cluster across the emirate, so language specialists are scarcest and most expensive in the same few weeks. Book that block before the school publishes its dates. At Higher Level the literature reading has to be finished before extract discussion can start, which makes the DP1 summer the natural window because reading travels and grammar teaching does not.

Four questions reliably reduce a Hindi B quote or improve what it contains. Ask whether marking happens inside or outside the paid hour, since that single answer can change the effective rate by a third. Ask what the engagement's end point is and what measure defines it. Ask whether the tutor has read the two literary works your child's school chose, if Higher Level applies. And ask whether the quoted AED figure includes VAT, in writing, which is a question for the provider rather than something a tutoring page should rule on.

Ask about the permit too. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system with a two-working-day completion time on MoHRE's own service page. Because there is no fee, nobody charging below market has saved money by skipping it. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published, so any amount quoted to you is unverified.

08

What we will not do, and what nobody can promise

A tutor can set tasks, mark them against the published criteria, annotate your child's own writing, time reading passages, log errors, record oral rehearsals and supply model texts clearly labelled as the tutor's own work for study. A tutor cannot write or rewrite anything your child submits as their own, cannot draft an Extended Essay or TOK essay, and has no role in the recorded individual oral itself. IB academic honesty rules place the consequences of malpractice on the student, which is why any offer of help with submitted work hands your family the risk while the provider keeps the fee.

Nobody can promise a grade in Hindi B, and we will not. Any provider quoting a percentage of students who improved should be asked, on the same page as the claim, for the number of students, the dates and the method. Self-published star ratings in this market have been found contradicting themselves inside a single page. What can be promised is specific: a number of marked tasks, a reading speed measured and re-measured, a recorded rehearsal, and a written note of where the marks are going.

On equivalency, which Dubai families often raise in the same conversation: for the British track the Ministry of Education requirements are documented, namely five accredited subjects at GCSE or IGCSE with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the five, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level. No IB points threshold has been published that we can verify on the ministry's own pages, so we state none. Equivalency is also not something a tutoring service performs or guarantees; it runs through the official channel.

Our limits, plainly: IB Gram holds no endorsement from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB or Cambridge, operates no premises in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE, and does not offer home visits in the Emirates. Hindi B for Dubai families is taught one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with the first lesson free, one per student, and no card details taken.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Hindi B demand in Dubai is community-shaped rather than evenly spread, and what differs by area is the profile of the student rather than the price of the lesson. The notes below describe who we actually meet where.

Bur Dubai and Karama

Long-established Indian community with deep access to Hindi speakers, so families here rarely need conversation help and frequently need written register work. The cheap tutoring available locally is often the wrong product rather than a bargain.

Al Mankhool and Al Jafiliya

Dense, school-adjacent and well served by Indian-curriculum schools, which means many students arrive at the Diploma with formal grammar instruction already behind them. Their gap is IB text types, and it closes in weeks rather than terms.

Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City

Bus routes out here often put a student home after half past four, so a five o'clock start holds and a four o'clock one does not. For a short targeted engagement, losing two sessions to cancellations removes a quarter of the work.

Al Warqa'a and Mirdif Hills

Villa communities where in-home tutoring has been the default and the local pool is overwhelmingly conversation-capable rather than IB-trained. This is the area where the mismatch between cheap hours and useful hours shows up most often.

International City and Al Qusais

A young, mixed-curriculum population with a high rate of mid-programme school transfers. A student arriving in DP1 in January has missed whichever topics the Hindi set covered in the autumn, which is an audit job rather than a remediation job.

Jumeirah Village Triangle and Remraam

Growing communities a long way from where tutors cluster, so in-home quotes carry heavy travel loading. The same budget spent online buys the specialist marking that script and register work actually requires.

Nad Al Hamar and Ras Al Khor

Quieter residential areas with longer school runs, where weekend morning sessions hold better than weekday evenings. Weekend mornings are also the first slots to disappear once the DP2 spring begins.

Town Square and Serena

New-build family communities absorbing part of the emirate's growth; KHDA's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools and 16,846 places. New schools frequently run a first Hindi set with a brand-new department and an uneven scheme of work.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say which profile fits, or let the diagnostic decide

Tell us whether Hindi is spoken at home, how much Devanagari reading your child has done, and whether they are arriving from an Indian-curriculum school. Those three answers usually identify the profile, and the profile determines whether you need ten sessions or two years.

  2. 02

Free trial lesson with the reading timed

One lesson at no charge, one per student, with no card details taken. The tutor times a short reading passage and writes the figure down, sets eighty words of writing, and checks register handling. You get a plain statement of which profile applies and what the block should contain.

  3. 03

Agree the block and its end point

Scope in writing: how many sessions, what measure defines completion, whether marking sits inside or outside the hour, and whether Higher Level literature runs as a separate costed block. A Hindi B engagement that cannot describe its own end point is a subscription rather than a plan.

  4. 04

    Measure, mark, re-measure

Reading speed re-timed every third session on comparable material, a matra and spelling log kept in writing, and one criterion-scored written task a week annotated against language, message and conceptual understanding. Oral rehearsals recorded on unseen stimuli.

  5. 05

    Finish, or say why not

When the measures move, the block ends and we say so rather than proposing more hours. If they have not moved in six weeks, the method or the tutor changes. Either way you get a short written note with the numbers in it and no predicted grade.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We price the work, not the language

Hindi conversation is abundant and cheap in Dubai, and for a home-fluent student it is the wrong product at any price. We say which kind of hour your child needs before quoting one, including when the cheapest option is genuinely the right one.

Reading speed actually measured

A timed passage in the first session, written down, and re-timed every third session. It is the most under-diagnosed issue in Hindi B in this city, and nobody can tell whether it is the problem until somebody puts a clock on it.

Blocks with end points

Most Hindi B work finishes. A script and register block runs eight to twelve sessions, an IB conversion block for a curriculum transfer six to ten. We state the end point and the measure up front rather than rolling into a standing monthly charge.

The course-fit question raised early

Hindi exists in the Diploma as a language acquisition subject and as a Language A literature course, with self-taught options in some schools. We bring evidence to that conversation with your coordinator rather than an opinion, and it can reduce two years of spending.

Criterion marking, not a mark out of ten

Fewer than half the marks in a written task are grammar and vocabulary. Scoring language, message and conceptual understanding separately is what reveals that a fluent speaker is losing marks on register drift rather than on Hindi.

Clear about what we are not

No premises in the UAE, no home visits in the Emirates, no regulator endorsement, no published improvement statistics, no grade promises, and no involvement in work your child must submit as their own.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

Why would a child who speaks Hindi at home need a Hindi B tutor?+

Because spoken fluency and examined literacy are different things. The typical Dubai candidate speaks Hindi daily, reads Devanagari at roughly half the speed the reading paper requires, places matras inconsistently because speech never needed them, and lets written register drift from formal to familiar halfway down a task. None of that is visible in conversation and all of it costs marks. The useful first step is to time a short reading passage and mark one written task against the criteria, which takes under an hour and settles whether there is a problem at all.

How much should I pay for Hindi tutoring in Dubai?+

It depends entirely on which kind of hour you need. Published market rates read in October 2026 run AED 45 to AED 150 for conversation and homework support, AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified teacher doing script and register work, and AED 200 to AED 450 and above for an IB-experienced specialist marking against the criteria. Hindi has an unusually deep supply at the bottom tier in this city because so many people speak it well, and no deeper supply than any other language at the top tier, because criterion marking is a professional skill rather than a linguistic one.

Is cheap Hindi conversation tutoring a false economy?+

For a home-fluent student, yes. Twenty hours of conversation at AED 100 will not change Devanagari reading speed, matra accuracy or text-type marks, because none of those is a speaking problem, and the family ends up AED 2,000 down with the same mock result. For a student who genuinely lacks fluency, the same hours are good value and the cheapest effective product available. The question is never whether the rate is low but whether the hour addresses the gap, and one diagnostic session answers that before any money moves.

Should a home-fluent student take Hindi B or Hindi as a Language A?+

That is a decision for your child and their IB coordinator, and it is worth raising early because it affects two years of spending more than any rate negotiation. Hindi appears in the Diploma both as a Group 2 language acquisition course and as a Language A literature course, with school-supported self-taught Standard Level options available in some schools. A tutor's useful contribution is evidence for the conversation: a timed reading figure, a marked task with criterion scores, and an assessment of whether the student can discuss a text rather than summarise it. Confirm what your school actually offers.

What is the fastest way to improve Devanagari reading speed?+

Timed reading on comparable material, repeated often and recorded. Time a short passage in the first session and write the number down, read short texts daily rather than long ones weekly, and re-time every third session on material of similar difficulty so the figure means something. Keep a written log of the consonant forms and matras that cause hesitation, because the list is usually short and specific rather than general. Most home-fluent students see a meaningful shift inside eight to twelve sessions, at which point the block can honestly end.

My child is moving from CBSE into the IB Diploma. How much Hindi support is needed?+

Usually six to ten sessions, which makes this the cheapest profile in the subject. A CBSE or ICSE student arrives with formal grammar instruction and set-text experience behind them, so they already have the Hindi. What they lack is the IB's framing: the text types, the three Paper 1 criteria, the fact that audience and purpose carry marks of their own, and the format of the individual oral. One text type per session with criterion feedback converts existing ability into marks. Be sceptical of a two-year plan sold to this profile.

What does register drift mean in a Hindi written task?+

It means a task that opens in the register the brief required and slides into the one the student uses at home. Hindi marks social relationship grammatically, so writing to an unfamiliar adult, a public audience and a close friend each demand different and consistent choices. Spoken fluency encourages the slide, because in conversation register is set by the person in front of you rather than by a brief on a page. It is the signature error of a fluent candidate and it responds quickly to paired tasks: the same content written twice, once formally and once informally.

How many sessions does Hindi B need in total?+

For a home-fluent student, often twenty to thirty across the two years rather than eighty: a script and register block early, an IB text-type block alongside it, light maintenance, a Higher Level literature block if it applies, and an oral rehearsal block before the school records. For a student with limited Hindi at home who is taking the subject anyway, it is a conventional weekly engagement across both years, because the gap is fluency and fluency is volume over time. The profile decides, and a diagnostic session establishes the profile.

Does KHDA's Arabic requirement affect a Hindi B student's timetable?+

Yes, and it is worth planning around. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with KHDA's requirements to be implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit and schools must run separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students in the first-language Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies streams. For a family budgeting tutoring, the practical effect is fewer genuinely free evenings than the week appears to offer, so a plan assuming two Hindi sessions a week often will not hold.

Can a tutor help with the mandatory Arabic stream as well?+

Within limits that are worth understanding first. For the mandatory UAE subjects, KHDA states that the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited, and schools must ensure teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic have the appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects. That constrains what any outside tutor can legitimately offer for the mandatory stream, as distinct from Arabic taken as a Diploma Group 2 subject, where ordinary tutoring applies. Ask any provider to be explicit about which of the two they are proposing to teach.

When should Higher Level Hindi literature work be booked?+

Early, and as a separately costed block. Higher Level requires two literary works chosen by the school, and the Higher Level oral is built on an extract from one of them, so the reading has to be finished before extract discussion can begin. The DP1 summer is the natural window because reading travels in a way that teaching does not. Ask any prospective tutor which two works your child's school selected before agreeing a rate, since a tutor working from different texts is rehearsing the wrong oral at the same price.

What should I ask to bring a Hindi B quote down?+

Four questions. Is marking inside or outside the paid hour, because that single answer can change the effective rate by a third. What is the end point of this engagement and what measure defines it, because most Hindi B work should finish rather than roll on. Has the tutor read the two literary works the school chose, if Higher Level applies. And does the quoted AED figure include VAT, confirmed in writing. A provider who answers all four clearly is usually worth more than one who is cheaper.

Do Hindi tutors in Dubai need a permit, and does it cost them anything?+

They need one and it costs nothing. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system, with a two-working-day completion time listed on MoHRE's own service page. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published, so treat any amount quoted to you as unverified.

Does IB Gram send a Hindi tutor to our home in Dubai?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we provide only in India. Hindi B for Dubai families is taught one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time. The in-home market alternative is priced on this page for comparison at AED 180 to AED 500 an hour with travel inside the fee. For this subject the gain from teaching online is not mainly price: it is that the match can be made on criterion-marking experience rather than on which fluent Hindi speaker is willing to drive to your community at five o'clock.

Time the reading before you buy the hours

Hindi B in Dubai is the rare subject where the cheapest tutoring is abundant and often beside the point. Before paying anybody, have someone time a short Devanagari passage, mark one written task against the three criteria, and tell you which of the three profiles your child fits. Book the free trial lesson, one per student with no card details taken, and that is what the hour will do. You will get the numbers in writing, the market bands above to check any quote against, and a stated end point for the block. Nobody can promise a grade in Hindi B, and anyone quoting an improvement percentage should be asked for the sample size, the dates and the method.
