IB and IGCSE tutors for Dubailand families

IB and IGCSE tutors in Dubailand are usually hired for one reason: the clock. A child who leaves Mudon or Arabian Ranches 3 at ten past seven and reaches home again after four has perhaps three usable hours before fatigue wins. IB Gram matches your child to a subject specialist and teaches one-to-one over live video, so the lesson can start the minute the school bag hits the floor rather than waiting on somebody crossing Al Ain Road in peak traffic. Dubailand families pick the slot; we find the specialist who fits it.

  • One-to-one over live video, with no travel time priced into the hour
  • Matched by syllabus code: Cambridge 0580 and 0625, or Pearson 4MA1 and 4PH1
  • Weekday slots from quarter past four, so homework still happens before dinner
  • A tutor questions and marks a student's own work; it never originates with us

IB & IGCSE in Dubailand

Dubailand's real problem is not finding a tutor, it is finding an hour

Dubailand is not a neighbourhood so much as a belt: Arabian Ranches and its two newer phases, Mudon, Town Square, DAMAC Hills, Motor City, Dubai Sports City, Liwan, The Villa and the Dubai Hills edge. Nearly every family here drives or buses out of the community for school and back into it again, which means the academic day does not end at the final bell. It ends somewhere between half past three and a quarter to five, depending on which gate the bus leaves from and whether Emirates Road is behaving. That single fact shapes every tutoring decision a Dubailand parent makes.

Parents searching for IB and IGCSE tutors in Dubailand are rarely short of options. Community groups carry dozens of offers a week. What they are short of is a usable hour that is not already spoken for by the return journey, football at the Ranches, swimming at Motor City, or the twenty minutes a Year 11 student needs simply to stop being in a car. A tutor who adds a further forty minutes of someone else's travel to each side of that hour is competing against the only quiet part of the evening.

That is why delivery matters more here than in most of Dubai. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video, with a shared whiteboard, the student's own past-paper script on screen and written feedback sent afterwards. Nobody drives anywhere. A session booked for a quarter past four starts at a quarter past four. The lesson can also be split: twenty-five minutes of Maths while the mind is fresh, a break, then thirty-five minutes of Chemistry, which no visiting tutor charging door-to-door would ever agree to.

The second thing online delivery changes is who is available. A Dubailand villa in a twenty-minute radius of a tutor's home might reach four or five people who teach Physics. Opened up to live video, the same family can work with a Physics specialist who has taught the current IB Diploma syllabus for a decade, or an IGCSE Extended examiner-trained teacher who knows exactly how Pearson 4PH1 Paper 2 differs from Cambridge 0625 Paper 4. The pool stops being a function of geography and becomes a function of subject.

This page is written for the parent who has already decided tutoring is worth trying and now wants the operational detail: what time a session can start from each community, what the Dubai market charges and who publishes those figures, what KHDA inspection bands actually mean when you read a school report, what a tutor may and may not do with an Internal Assessment, and what the first fortnight looks like. Every figure on the page carries its source. Nothing here is a promise about a grade.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Dubailand schools run three broad routes: a British primary and IGCSE path, an IB continuum, and a mixed path where children transfer at Year 7 or Year 10. The programme notes below are written for this belt specifically, because the transfer points are where most families first ask for help.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-K to Year 6

IB Primary Years Programme

The PYP assesses how a child inquires, not how much they have memorised. Learning is organised into transdisciplinary units, and the written reports a parent receives describe approaches to learning rather than percentages. Support at this stage is about reading fluency, number sense and the habit of explaining reasoning out loud, because those three things decide how smoothly MYP goes.

In the Dubailand belt the PYP schools sit mainly on the Al Khail and Al Barsha South side, which means a long bus run for a seven-year-old. Early-evening sessions rarely work for this age group here; a twenty-five minute morning slot at the weekend tends to be far more productive than a tired half-hour at five o'clock on a Tuesday.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

MYP marks run on four criteria per subject, each scored out of eight, and the conversion from criterion marks to a one-to-seven grade is where most families lose track. The Personal Project in the final year is a supervised independent piece. Support focuses on reading the criterion descriptors properly and on the written communication that MYP sciences and individuals-and-societies subjects demand.

Dubailand MYP students frequently arrive from a British Year 7 or an Indian curriculum, and the shift from right-answer marking to criterion marking unsettles them for a term or two. The commonest request we see from Arabian Ranches and Town Square families is help reading a criterion grid, not help with the content itself.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal Assessments in most subjects carry twenty to twenty-five per cent of the final grade and are marked against named criteria by letter. The two years are front-loaded with coursework deadlines that bunch in the second half of DP1 and the first half of DP2.

For a Dubailand DP student the binding constraint is the evening. A DP1 with HL Chemistry, HL Maths AA and an Extended Essay cannot absorb three separate tutoring journeys a week. Two online slots, one of them split across subjects, is the pattern that survives the belt's commute without eating the only hours left for independent practice.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson IGCSE

Two years, usually eight or nine subjects, sat as Core or Extended tiers in Cambridge subjects and as single or tiered papers with Pearson. Syllabus codes matter: Cambridge Mathematics 0580, Physics 0625, Chemistry 0620 and Biology 0610 against Pearson 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1. Papers, formula provision and practical assessment differ between the two boards.

Dubailand's British schools do not all use the same board, and some split boards by department, so an IGCSE tutor in Dubailand has to confirm the code before the first lesson. A student doing Cambridge 0580 Extended and Pearson 4CH1 in the same year is common here and needs two different exam-technique habits.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Requests from the Dubailand belt cluster heavily in the sciences and maths, partly because the DP cohorts at the nearby IB schools are science-weighted and partly because those are the subjects where an evening hour converts most directly into marks.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The algebra-heavy IB route. HL adds proof, complex numbers and a harder calculus load, and Paper 3 is a long investigative paper sat without the structure of Papers 1 and 2. Marks go missing in unjustified steps rather than wrong answers, so written method is the main teaching target.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

The statistics and modelling route, with the graphic display calculator available in every paper. Students who chose it to avoid algebra often find the statistical inference and the modelling write-ups harder than expected. Teaching concentrates on choosing the right test and interpreting output in context.

Physics

IB HL and SL, IGCSE 0625 and 4PH1

The gap between quoting a law and applying it under exam conditions is wider in Physics than anywhere else. At IGCSE, electricity and the practical-skills paper account for most lost marks; at DP, the HL extension topics and uncertainty treatment in the Internal Assessment do.

Chemistry

IB HL and SL, IGCSE 0620 and 4CH1

Organic mechanisms and energetics at DP level, moles and electrolysis at IGCSE. HL students lose marks by describing rather than explaining, which is a command-term problem rather than a content problem. Data-based questions reward a habit of annotating the stem before answering.

Biology

IB HL and SL, IGCSE 0610 and 4BI1

The volume of named detail makes Biology feel like memorisation until a student meets a six-mark explain question. Teaching here is about structuring extended answers against the mark scheme and about the statistical treatment that the DP Internal Assessment expects.

Economics

IB HL and SL

Diagram accuracy decides more marks than prose quality. HL adds the quantitative paper and a heavier policy-evaluation load. The three commentaries that make up the Internal Assessment need real published articles and a tight word limit, and students routinely overshoot on description and undershoot on evaluation.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is unseen textual analysis against a guiding question, Paper 2 a comparative essay, and the Individual Oral a ten-minute spoken analysis of a global issue through two works. Most of the gain comes from learning to build an argument rather than from reading more texts.

Mathematics (IGCSE)

Core and Extended, 0580 and 4MA1

Extended tier carries the grades most Dubailand parents are aiming at, and the step from Core to Extended is largely algebraic fluency plus trigonometry beyond right-angled triangles. Non-calculator confidence and clean working are what separate a 6 from an 8.

Business Management

IB HL and SL

A case-heavy subject where the pre-released material rewards early, structured preparation. HL students sit an additional paper and need the tools used accurately rather than listed. Teaching focuses on applying one framework well instead of naming four.

Computer Science

IB HL and SL, IGCSE 0478

Pseudocode discipline and trace tables at IGCSE; data structures, object-oriented design and the HL extension at DP. The DP solution-development Internal Assessment is a software artefact plus documentation, and the documentation is where marks are usually lost.

Arabic as an additional language

KHDA mandatory stream

Arabic is compulsory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs. Support here is about the school's own scheme of work and assessment, since the Ministry restricts the use of different or additional content.

Theory of Knowledge

IB DP core

Assessed by an exhibition of three objects with commentaries and an essay on a prescribed title. Students who treat it as an opinion piece lose marks that a clear knowledge question and a worked counter-position would have secured. Sessions here are structural rather than content-led.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three patterns cover almost every Dubailand family. The choice is driven less by subject than by how late the bus gets in and how many siblings are competing for the same evening.

One weekday slot plus a weekend morning

The pattern that survives the belt's commute. A midweek session carries the current topic while it is still live in class, and a longer weekend morning session carries past papers, marking feedback and the slower thinking that a tired Tuesday cannot support. Most Year 10 and MYP families start here.

  • Weekday slot from 16:15 to 18:00 depending on community
  • Weekend morning slot of 75 to 90 minutes
  • Written feedback between sessions so the weekend hour is not spent recapping
  • Works for two siblings at different levels without a second journey

Split-subject hour

Sixty minutes divided between two subjects, either with one tutor who covers both or with a handover between two. It exists because an exhausted DP1 student is more productive across two shorter pushes than one long one, and because live video makes the switch cost nothing. Common in the Sports City and Motor City communities, where returns are early.

  • Twenty-five minutes of Maths while concentration is highest
  • A short break away from the screen
  • Thirty-five minutes of a science or an essay subject
  • One booking, one invoice, one shared record of what was covered

Exam-term intensive block

A fixed block of sessions running into mocks or the written papers, built backwards from the entry and exam dates rather than forwards from today. The block is planned around the specific papers your child sits, not around a generic revision timetable, and it closes when the last paper is sat.

  • Planned backwards from the published board timetable for your child's series
  • Paper-by-paper technique work rather than a second pass through content
  • Timed questions marked against the official mark scheme wording
  • Ends on a defined date so there is no open-ended commitment

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubailand

01

What a Dubailand parent is actually asking when they search for a tutor

  • Time first: which slot is genuinely free after the bus gets in
  • Level second: the syllabus code and tier, not just the subject name
  • Permit third: the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is free and verifiable
  • Coursework boundary fourth: what a tutor may question, and what must stay the student's own

The search phrase is about subject and place. The question underneath it is almost always about time. Parents in this belt have usually worked out that their child needs help in one or two subjects; what they have not worked out is where an hour is going to come from, and whether adding a stranger's drive to each side of that hour makes the problem worse. Answering the time question first is the only honest way to answer the tutoring question.

The second buried question is competence at a specific level. A parent whose daughter is sitting Cambridge 0580 Extended does not need a maths tutor in general, she needs someone who knows that the non-calculator paper rewards clean algebraic working and that the Extended tier's trigonometry goes well beyond the right-angled triangle work her daughter met in Year 9. The same applies at Diploma level, where HL Chemistry and SL Chemistry are different teaching jobs rather than the same job at two speeds.

The third is trust, and it is the one most pages skip. A parent wants to know who is teaching, whether that person holds the private tuition work permit the UAE requires, what happens if the match is wrong, and where the line sits on coursework. Those are answerable questions with specific answers, and the rest of this page gives them. What nobody can honestly answer is what grade your child will end up with, and any page that offers you that number has told you something about itself.

02

The Dubailand school run, timed, and what it leaves behind

The belt's communities sit between ten and thirty-five minutes from the schools that most of their secondary students attend, and the bus adds collection stops on top of that. The practical effect is a return window stretching from about half past three in Motor City to nearly five o'clock in parts of Mudon and DAMAC Hills on a slow day. The table below sets out indicative windows that families in each community describe, together with the earliest session time that tends to hold up week after week rather than collapsing after a fortnight.

Treat the figures as planning ranges, not measurements. Gate times differ by school, bus routes change between terms, and a Sunday in January behaves differently from a Thursday in May. What does not change is the ordering: the communities with schools inside them get the early slots, and the communities on the Emirates Road side do not. A family who books a half past four session from Town Square because a neighbour in Motor City manages one will spend six weeks arriving late and then conclude that tutoring does not work.

The useful consequence is that the slot should be chosen before the tutor. Decide which thirty, forty-five or sixty minutes genuinely exists in your week, then ask whether a specialist is available in it. Because delivery is over live video, that question has a much better answer than it would if the pool were limited to people who could drive to your villa by five o'clock. It also means a slot that only exists at half past seven on a Tuesday is still workable.

03

A visiting tutor on Al Ain Road against a specialist on live video

In-home tutoring is a real and reasonable choice, and plenty of Dubailand families use it, particularly for primary-age children where a screen is a poor medium. It is worth saying plainly what it costs and what it does to an evening. A tutor driving from Al Barsha or Al Qusais to Arabian Ranches 3 at five o'clock is committing between twenty and forty-five minutes each way, and that time is either priced into the hour or recovered by the tutor working only within a narrow radius. Both outcomes limit who your child can be taught by.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; home tutoring at the door is a service we run only in India. That is a deliberate position rather than a gap. The entire value of removing the journey is that subject specialism stops being rationed by distance. A family in Mudon can work with an HL Physics teacher who would never have been reachable by car, and a student who needs Economics commentary feedback on Tuesday and Maths AA proof work on Saturday can have two different specialists rather than one generalist.

The table sets the options side by side with market rates, their sources and the travel reality from this belt. Figures are the providers' own published rates, read in October 2026, and are listed as market context rather than as our price list. IB Gram quotes after a consultation and a trial lesson, with the terms confirmed in writing before any block is booked, because what a family needs in a six-week run-up to mocks is not the same product as a two-year Diploma plan.

What the Dubai tutoring market charges, and who published the number

Three of the six best-ranking pages for these searches publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in dollars. That is not accidental: a published rate invites comparison. The rates below are other providers' own published figures, read in October 2026, grouped by provider model rather than by brand. They are offered so that a Dubailand parent can recognise an unreasonable quote, not as a league table of competitors.

The useful context is school fees, because tutoring is a marginal cost on top of a large fixed one. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package. For a belt where many families moved specifically for the fee-to-villa ratio, that freeze is the backdrop against which a tutoring budget gets approved or refused. Two sessions a week for a full Diploma year is a significant number and deserves to be stated rather than discovered.

A note on what the figures do not include. Published hourly rates rarely say whether marking between sessions is counted, whether a cancellation inside twenty-four hours is charged, whether materials are extra, or whether the rate rises in the term before exams. Those four questions are worth more than a ten-dirham difference in the headline rate. Ask them in writing before the first lesson, and ask whether the quoted figure includes VAT, since the treatment of tuition fees is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority rather than for a tutoring page.

Building a week that survives DP1 and Year 11 in this belt

  • One finishable task set at the end of every session, marked at the start of the next
  • Thirty minutes of independent work between lessons, protected in the calendar
  • Friday left clear in most Dubailand households rather than optimistically booked
  • Switch from explanation to timed questions once every topic has been seen once
  • Mock results used to re-plan the block, not simply filed

A tutoring hour is only worth what the six days around it do with it. The failure pattern we see most often from Dubailand families is two sessions a week with no independent practice between them, which turns the tutor into the only person doing the work. The fix is uncomfortable but simple: the session sets a specific, finishable task, the task gets done before the next session, and the next session starts by marking it. Thirty minutes of independent work between lessons changes the return on the hour more than a third lesson would.

Where the belt's geography bites is Thursday. A student who gets home at half past four, has a club at six and a family commitment on Friday has no usable study block until Saturday morning. Planning around that honestly is better than pretending Thursday evening is available. For most Dubailand DP students the workable shape is a midweek session on Monday or Tuesday, independent work on Wednesday, and the longer session on Saturday or Sunday morning, with Friday left alone.

Year 11 is different again, because the mock cycle lands in November and January and the real papers in the spring. The week needs to flip from topic coverage to timed-paper work earlier than most students expect, usually by the start of the second term. The practical marker is this: once a student has seen every topic once, the session should mostly consist of questions done under time and then marked out loud, not of further explanation. Explanation feels more productive and converts into fewer marks.

06

Ramadan, the long summer and how a Dubailand timetable bends

  • Post-Iftar slots during Ramadan rather than a four-week pause
  • Two or three deliberately placed summer sessions, not a full holiday timetable
  • Half-term blocks of four or five sessions in a single week before mock cycles
  • Internal Assessment planning fixed before long travel, not after it
  • A restart session in the final week of any break over three weeks

Two features of the UAE calendar reshape tutoring in ways a generic revision plan ignores. The first is Ramadan, when school days shorten and the whole household's rhythm shifts later. For a fasting student, an afternoon session is close to useless and a post-Iftar session is often the most alert hour of the day. Families in the belt who move their slot to around half past eight in the evening for the month tend to keep momentum; families who pause for four weeks come back to a visibly colder start, particularly in maths.

The second is the summer. The Dubai academic year ends in early July and resumes in late August or the first days of September, and a very large share of Dubailand families travel for most of that gap. A DP1 student going into DP2 across a long break with Internal Assessment drafts unfinished returns to a September that is already behind. The realistic answer is not a full summer timetable. It is two or three sessions placed deliberately: one to set the IA plan before travel, one mid-break to review what was written, one in the final week to restart habits.

Short breaks matter in a different way. The autumn and spring half-terms sit close enough to mock cycles to be genuinely useful, and a block of four or five sessions across a week converts better than the same five spread over five weeks, because the student is holding the whole subject in mind at once. That intensive pattern is also the one most compatible with a belt where term-time evenings are already crowded.

07

Reading a KHDA inspection report without being misled by the band

  • Six bands from Outstanding to Very Weak, judged across the whole school
  • Subject-level attainment and progress judgements matter more than the headline band
  • KHDA licenses and inspects schools; it does not vet individual private tutors
  • Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies are mandatory in every Dubai private school
  • Dubai fees for 2026-27 were confirmed frozen by KHDA in May 2026

Dubai's private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate and inspects schools on a six-band scale from Outstanding down to Very Weak. Dubai's private sector carried 387,441 students across 227 schools offering seventeen curricula in 2024-25, with UK provision at thirty-seven per cent of enrolment, Indian at twenty-six, American at fourteen and the IB at seven. The sector is also still growing: the 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools and 16,846 places.

What a band does not tell you is how your child's particular subject and set is doing. An Outstanding judgement is an aggregate across phases, subjects and groups of students, and a school can hold it while a single Diploma subject is being taught by its third teacher in two years. The detail that matters sits further inside the report, in the subject-level attainment and progress judgements and in the recommendations. Reading those before deciding which subject needs tutoring is a more reliable guide than the headline.

The other thing worth knowing is what the regulator governs and what it does not. KHDA licenses schools, approves curricula and inspects. It does not vet individual private tutors, and no tutoring platform can describe itself as approved by it. A tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute; IB Gram does not operate premises in the UAE and holds no such permit, so any page claiming regulator approval for a tutor is telling you something inaccurate.

08

Internal Assessments, practicals and the work that has to stay the student's own

  • A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback; the text must originate with the candidate
  • Criteria explained letter by letter, with band descriptors read as written
  • Topic feasibility challenged early, which is where most IA marks are won or lost
  • Practical skills taught through planning, analysis and evaluation of results
  • Official syllabus documents cited and linked, never reproduced or supplied as downloads

This is the part of the market with the real risk in it. One page ranking for these searches sells finished Internal Assessments outright. Under IB rules that is malpractice, and the consequence falls on the student, not the seller. A Diploma candidate found to have submitted work that is not their own can lose the subject or the whole Diploma, and the school is obliged to report it. No tutoring arrangement is worth that exposure, and any provider offering it has told you what they think of your child's position.

What a tutor may legitimately do is substantial. They can teach the research skills the task requires, discuss the choice of topic and push back on one that cannot generate enough analysis, explain the assessment criteria letter by letter and what each band descriptor actually asks for, question a draft, point out that a conclusion is not supported by the data, show how a similar argument is structured in a different context, and teach referencing. All of that is teaching, and all of it is permitted. What is not permitted is text that originated with anyone other than the candidate.

Practical science is the related question for IGCSE families. Cambridge and Pearson both assess practical skills, either through a laboratory examination or an alternative written paper, and the skills examined are planning, observation, recording, analysis and evaluation. Those are teachable without a bench: a student can plan an investigation, interpret somebody else's results table, identify the variable that was not controlled and rewrite a conclusion. The laboratory work itself belongs to the school, and a tutor's job is to make sure the student can describe and criticise it.

09

Getting started from Dubailand, including what happens if nobody is free

  • Bring the school, year, board, syllabus code and a marked script if you have one
  • Slot chosen first, specialist second
  • Trial lesson and consultation before any block, with terms in writing
  • Rematch on request if the first pairing is wrong
  • Coverage gaps stated plainly rather than papered over

The first conversation is about facts rather than aspiration: which school, which year, which board, which syllabus code if you have it, which papers your child has already sat, and what the last report or mock actually said. If you have a marked script, that is worth more than any description of the problem, because a marked script shows whether marks are being lost on content, on command terms, on time, or on presentation. Those four problems need four different responses.

From there we identify the slot before the tutor, for the reasons set out earlier on this page, and then look for a specialist who teaches that subject at that level and is free in it. A trial lesson and a consultation come before any block is booked, and the terms are confirmed in writing at that point. If the match is wrong after one or two lessons, say so and we change it; a tutor who suits a quiet, methodical Year 10 is often the wrong person for a fast, impatient DP2.

Sometimes the honest answer is that nobody suitable is free in the slot you need. That happens most often for niche Higher Level combinations in the weeks before May papers, and for the mandatory Arabic streams where KHDA requires teachers of Arabic and Islamic Education to hold its approval and schools follow a prescribed scheme. When it happens we say so, offer a different slot or a different tutor with a clear statement of what they do and do not cover, and leave the decision with you. Disclosing a coverage gap is cheaper than hiding one behind a waiting list.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Dubailand

The belt is not uniform. Bus routes, gate positions and distance from Emirates Road change the earliest workable session time by an hour between one community and the next, so the notes below are operational rather than descriptive.

Arabian Ranches

Short runs to JESS Arabian Ranches and Ranches Primary School, so children are often home before four. An IB tutor in Arabian Ranches can realistically take a half past four slot through the week, which is the best of the belt.

Arabian Ranches 2

A longer internal loop and a later gate time push the return to around four. Families here tend to settle on a twin-slot pattern, one weekday evening and one weekend morning, rather than two tired weekday hours.

Arabian Ranches 3

The newest phase, with most children bussed out towards Al Khail or Barsha South. Returns after a quarter past four are normal, and a five o'clock start works better than fighting it.

Mudon

An online tutor in Mudon is usually booked for five o'clock or later, because the school run reaches well beyond the community. Shorter, more frequent sessions hold attention better here than a single long one.

Town Square

High density, young families, and long bus routes to the Barsha South and Motor City schools. IGCSE tuition in Town Square is most often booked in the Year 10 spring, once the first set of mock papers has come back.

Motor City

GEMS Metropole sits inside the community, so some children walk home. An IGCSE tutor in Motor City can often start at a quarter past four, and the split-subject hour works well at that time.

Dubai Sports City

Victory Heights Primary and GEMS United are both on the doorstep, which keeps the commute short. An IB DP tutor in Dubai Sports City frequently takes two sixty-minute slots midweek during the DP2 coursework crunch.

DAMAC Hills

Jebel Ali School relocated into this side of Dubailand, but many secondary students travel further. An IB tutor in DAMAC Hills usually works a later evening slot, with the weekend carrying the heavier session.

Dubai Hills Estate

Closest of the belt to the Al Khail IB schools. An IB tutor in Dubai Hills Estate can take an early slot, which matters for HL sciences where tiredness costs accuracy.

Liwan and The Villa

GEMS FirstPoint School and The Aquila School draw from here. A Maths AA tutor in Dubailand is most often requested by families on this side at the start of DP1, when the HL decision is still reversible.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubailand

Arabian Ranches, Liwan and The Villa

The older, more settled end of the belt, with British primary provision inside the communities and secondary schooling split between the Ranches campuses and schools further along Al Ain Road. Students here typically sit IGCSE at sixteen before choosing between A Level and the IB Diploma.

  • JESS Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • GEMS FirstPoint School
  • The Aquila School

Motor City, Dubai Sports City and DAMAC Hills

The shortest commutes in the belt, because three of these schools sit inside the communities they serve. This cluster generates the earliest weekday tutoring slots and a noticeably higher share of IGCSE science requests than the Ranches side.

  • GEMS Metropole School
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • GEMS United School Sports City
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy
  • Jebel Ali School

Dubai Hills Estate, Al Khail and Al Barsha South

Where most of the belt's IB Diploma students actually sit. These schools run the IB continuum or a British path to the Diploma, and the longer bus routes from Mudon, Town Square and Arabian Ranches 3 are the reason Dubailand's tutoring evening starts late.

  • GEMS International School Al Khail
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • GEMS Founders School Al Barsha South
  • Fairgreen International School

Schools are named here as local context for families choosing a tutor. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no affiliation to, endorsement from or contract with any school, school group or regulator named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the slot, not just the subject

Start with the thirty, forty-five or sixty minutes that genuinely exists in your week once the bus has arrived. In this belt that single piece of information rules out more arrangements than subject level does, so it belongs in the first message rather than the third.

  2. 02

Send the evidence, not the worry

A marked mock script, a report page or a returned Internal Assessment draft tells a subject specialist more in two minutes than a description does in twenty. It shows whether marks are going on content, command terms, timing or working, which decides what the first four sessions do.

  3. 03

Match on syllabus, level and availability

We look for someone who has taught your child's exact syllabus version at the tier printed on the report and who is free in your slot. Where the pairing is a compromise, we say which part is the compromise before you book rather than afterwards.

  4. 04

    Trial lesson, then a decision

One session with the proposed tutor, with the terms confirmed in writing beforehand. Afterwards you decide whether to book a block, change the tutor or stop. Nothing is open-ended, and a rematch after one or two lessons is a normal request rather than a complaint.

  5. 05

Review against the next real marker

Progress is read against the next mock, the next Internal Assessment deadline or the next set of returned papers, not against a feeling that sessions are going well. If the marker has not moved, the plan changes rather than simply continuing.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The journey stops being part of the fee

Live video removes between forty and ninety minutes of driving from each session in this belt. That time either came out of your evening or out of the hourly rate, and in both cases removing it is worth more than a small difference in the headline figure.

Specialism instead of proximity

A twenty-minute radius around a Dubailand villa might reach a handful of people who teach Physics. Online, the constraint becomes who teaches HL Physics on the current syllabus and is free at your time, which is a far better question to be limited by.

Figures with their sources attached

Every rate on this page is somebody's published figure with the month it was read. Three of the best-ranking pages for these searches publish no price at all, and a parent comparing quotes deserves a reference band rather than a conversation about value.

A stated line on coursework

We teach, question and give feedback on Internal Assessments, Extended Essays and Theory of Knowledge work. We do not supply text, and we say so on every page, because the student carries the consequence of malpractice and the seller does not.

Honest about what we do not do

IB Gram holds no regulator accreditation, operates no premises in the UAE, and does not send tutors to UAE homes. Where no specialist is free in your slot we say so. Those sentences cost us some enquiries and are the reason the rest of the page can be trusted.

Built around the UAE calendar

Ramadan slots move rather than pause, summer gets two or three deliberate sessions instead of a notional timetable, and exam blocks are planned backwards from the board's own published series dates for your child's papers.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubailand: your questions answered

What time can a tutoring session realistically start for a child in Dubailand?+

It depends on which community you are in. Children at schools inside Motor City, Dubai Sports City or Dubai Hills Estate are often home between half past three and four, so a quarter past four start holds up through the term. From Mudon, DAMAC Hills, Town Square or Arabian Ranches 3 the bus commonly arrives after four, and a five o'clock or quarter past five start is more sustainable. Because lessons are delivered over live video there is no travel to add at either end, so the slot can also sit later in the evening without anyone driving across the belt in the dark.

Can we book a tutor to visit our villa in Arabian Ranches or Mudon?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; tutoring here is delivered one-to-one over live video, and home tutoring at the door is a service we run only in India. That is a deliberate choice rather than a limitation. Removing the drive means a family in Mudon can be taught by a Higher Level Physics specialist who would never have been within reach by car, and it means a session can be split across two subjects without anyone paying for a second journey. If you specifically want someone in the room, an in-home provider is the right choice and the market rate is roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel.

How much does an IB tutor cost per hour for a Dubailand family?+

Published Dubai market rates read in October 2026 put a qualified subject tutor working online at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, and an IB, IGCSE or A Level specialist at AED 200 to 450 or more. TutorChase published AED 270, Unitors published IB from AED 200, and BartyED published AED 650 at the premium end. In-home visits run around AED 180 to 500 including travel. Those are other providers' own figures, quoted here as market context. IB Gram quotes after a consultation and a trial lesson, with the terms set out in writing, because a six-week push before mocks is not the same product as a two-year Diploma plan.

Which schools do most children in the Dubailand belt actually attend?+

Primary provision sits largely inside the communities: JESS Arabian Ranches, Ranches Primary School, GEMS Metropole in Motor City, Victory Heights Primary in Sports City and The Aquila School on the Liwan side. Secondary and Diploma students more often travel outwards to GEMS International School Al Khail, Dubai Heights Academy, Nord Anglia International School Dubai, GEMS Founders School in Al Barsha South, GEMS FirstPoint School and Fairgreen International School. That outward travel is exactly why the belt's tutoring evening starts later than the rest of Dubai. These schools are named as local context only; IB Gram has no affiliation with any of them.

Is online tutoring as effective as having someone at the kitchen table in Dubailand?+

For secondary students the honest answer is that the format matters less than the match. What a screen gives you is the student's own script visible to both people at once, a shared whiteboard that keeps a record, and the ability to pause and send the marked work afterwards. What it costs you is the physical presence that helps some younger children settle. For primary-age children an in-home tutor is often the better choice. For a Year 11 sitting Cambridge 0580 Extended or a Diploma student on Higher Level Chemistry, having the right specialist in the slot that actually exists beats having a nearer generalist in a slot that does not.

Does my child's tutor need a MoHRE private tuition permit?+

Yes, if they are providing private tutoring in the UAE. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years through MoHRE's smart app, website and e-services system. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule has been published, so treat any specific amount you read with caution. Ask any tutor to confirm their permit before the first lesson.

Can a Dubailand session move to post-Iftar timing during Ramadan?+

Yes, and for a fasting student it usually should. School days shorten during Ramadan and the household rhythm moves later, which makes a mid-afternoon lesson close to unproductive. A slot around half past eight in the evening tends to be the most alert hour of the day. Families in this belt who move the time keep their momentum; families who pause for the whole month generally come back to a noticeably colder restart, most visibly in maths, where fluency fades faster than knowledge. Because nobody is travelling to the lesson, moving the slot by four hours for a month costs nothing operationally.

How many sessions a week do Dubailand Diploma students usually start with?+

Two is the common starting point, and the shape matters more than the count. In this belt the pattern that survives the commute is one midweek session that carries the topic while it is still live in class, and one longer weekend morning session for past papers and marking feedback. Thirty minutes of independent work between the two does more for the result than a third lesson would, because without it the tutor becomes the only person doing the work. Families with a single problem subject often start with one session and add a second only when a mock or an Internal Assessment deadline makes the case.

Can one tutor cover both Maths AA and Physics for a student in Dubailand?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking, because a single tutor across both subjects can use the mechanics and calculus overlap deliberately rather than by accident. The limit is Higher Level. At Higher Level the two subjects diverge enough that most strong teachers are genuinely specialist in one, and a student taking HL Maths AA and HL Physics is usually better served by two people. Where a split-subject hour is used, we tell you before you book whether it is one tutor or a handover between two, and what each of them has actually taught at that level.

What does a KHDA inspection rating tell me about my child's Dubailand school?+

Less than parents expect about a specific subject. KHDA inspects on six bands from Outstanding to Very Weak, and the band is an aggregate across phases, subjects and groups of students. A school can hold a strong overall judgement while one Diploma subject is on its third teacher in two years. The useful part of the report is further in: the subject-level attainment and progress judgements, and the recommendations. Read those before deciding which subject needs support. KHDA regulates and inspects schools and approves curricula; it does not vet individual private tutors, so no tutoring platform can describe itself as approved by it.

How can a tutor help with an Internal Assessment without breaking IB rules?+

By teaching rather than supplying. A tutor can discuss topic choice and say plainly when a topic cannot generate enough analysis, explain each assessment criterion letter by letter and read the band descriptors as written, teach the research and referencing skills the task needs, question a draft, point out where a conclusion is not supported by the data, and show how a comparable argument is structured elsewhere. What they must never do is provide text. The candidate carries the consequence of malpractice, which can cost the subject or the whole Diploma, so any provider offering a finished piece is offering you your child's risk.

My child sits IGCSE papers in six weeks. Is it worth starting now in Dubailand?+

Yes, provided the six weeks are used for paper technique rather than another pass through content. At that range the gains come from timed questions marked against the official mark scheme wording, from learning which question types your child reliably loses marks on, and from fixing the mechanical things, which are usually working that cannot be followed, command terms read too quickly, and the last fifteen minutes of a paper spent on the wrong question. Four to five sessions in a single week during a half-term converts better than the same five spread thinly, because the whole subject stays in mind at once.

How do science practicals work if the lessons are online?+

The laboratory work belongs to the school, and that does not change. What the examination actually tests is planning, observation, recording, analysis and evaluation, and all five are teachable over video. A student can plan an investigation and have the plan picked apart, interpret somebody else's results table, identify the variable that was not controlled, redraw a graph with sensible scales and rewrite a conclusion that overreaches the data. Cambridge and Pearson both assess these skills, either through a practical examination or an alternative written paper, and the alternative paper in particular rewards exactly this kind of work.

What do I need to send to get matched with a tutor in the Dubailand belt?+

Five things: the school, the year group, the board and syllabus code if you know it, the slot that genuinely exists in your week, and a marked script or report page. The script is the most valuable item, because it shows whether marks are being lost on content, on command terms, on timing or on presentation, and those four problems need four different first lessons. If you do not have one, the last report will do. We only collect what is needed to make the match, and you can ask for it to be deleted at any point.

Does the Ministry of Education equivalency file affect an IGCSE student in the Dubailand belt?+

It can, if your child will apply to a UAE university or need a UAE certificate equivalency. For the British track the Ministry requires five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. One ranking competitor publishes a six-subject figure, which is wrong. Verify your own case on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate attestation authority; IB Gram describes the process but does not perform it.

Flag of Dubailand

Start with the slot, and work outwards from there

If you are somewhere in the Dubailand belt and weighing up tutoring, the first useful decision is not which subject or which tutor. It is which thirty, forty-five or sixty minutes genuinely exists in your week once the bus has arrived and the first wave of tiredness has passed. Tell us that, send a marked script, and we will look for a specialist who teaches your child's syllabus at your child's level and is free in it. Lessons are one-to-one over live video, nobody drives anywhere, the terms are in writing before a block is booked, and if the match is wrong we change it.
