IGCSE Tutor near me in Dubailand

Search "IGCSE tutor near me" from a Dubailand address and you get names, not numbers. This page publishes the numbers: what the Dubai market charges by the hour and by the month, what a quote should include, and the four places families in this belt reliably waste money. IB Gram delivers every lesson one-to-one over live video, which removes the travel loading from the price entirely.

IB & IGCSE in Dubailand

What IGCSE tuition costs around Dubailand, and where the money leaks

Three of the six most visible pages competing for this search publish no price at all. One of them asks the price question in its own list of frequently asked questions and then declines to answer it. Two of the three that do quote give figures in US dollars, a currency no Dubai family pays a tutor in. That is the state of the market a parent in Arabian Ranches or Motor City is trying to budget against, which is why this page starts with numbers rather than reassurance.

The published spread is wide. At the bottom, online generalists and university students work from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik advertising from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. In the middle, qualified subject tutors working online are quoted at AED 150 to 300, and Unitors publishes International GCSE from AED 150. Above that sits specialist International GCSE and A Level provision at AED 200 to 450 and upward, with TutorChase at AED 270. In-home one-to-one visits are quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included, and premium named provision reaches AED 650 with BartyED.

Hourly rates mislead, though, because nobody buys an hour. Bestimate's Dubai estimates for a weekly one-hour session put budget provision at AED 240 to 600 a month, mid-range at AED 600 to 1,200, and specialist examination-year support at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and upward. Packages in circulation include roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Read those two together and the in-home option costs roughly twice as much for half the number of contacts.

The waste is rarely in the rate. It is in buying the wrong thing. A family pays for twenty cheap hours when six specialist hours would have moved more marks. A family pays a travel premium for a Year 10 student who works perfectly well on a screen. A family pays for months of tuition in a subject where the real problem is that the entry tier caps the grade, which no number of hours can fix once entries close. And a family pays for a generalist because the specialist was further away, which in this belt is a distance problem rather than a quality problem.

IB Gram's position on price is simple and it is not a rate card. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video to UAE families; home visits are a service we run only in India, so nobody is sent to a Dubailand address and no travel is being billed. The first session is a free trial with no card, because the only figure worth comparing is whether this particular specialist moves this particular student. Everything below is the detail a parent needs to interrogate any quote, ours included.

At a glance

  • Published Dubai hourly rates run from AED 45 to AED 650 across six distinct bands
  • Monthly budgeting is the honest unit: AED 240 to 2,000+ depending on band
  • In-home visits cost roughly double per contact once travel is priced in
  • The MoHRE private tutor permit is free, so no tutor should be charging for it
  • A wrong entry tier cannot be bought back with extra hours
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost behaves differently across the stages a Dubailand family passes through. The notes below set out what each stage usually needs, because buying examination-year intensity for a Year 8 student is one of the commonest overspends in this market.

KS3Ages 11-14

Years 7 to 9, pre-International GCSE

No certificating examinations, so the purpose is trajectory rather than grades. Cambridge Checkpoint tests in March, May and October indicate whether a student is heading for Core or Extended. The skills that decide that are algebraic fluency, writing explanations rather than descriptions, and sustaining a structured paragraph. The budget band that suits this stage is the lower one, and paying specialist rates here is usually premature.

The newer Dubailand communities skew young, so a large share of enquiries from Arabian Ranches 3, Mudon and Town Square concern these years. Work done here at AED 240 to 600 a month is materially cheaper than remediation in Year 11 at AED 1,000 to 2,000, which is the strongest cost argument on this page.

Y10Ages 14-15

Year 10, first International GCSE year

The year the tier is decided and the year most content is delivered. Consolidating topics while they are still being taught is cheaper than revisiting them a year later, and it is the stage where mid-range qualified provision at AED 150 to 300 an hour does the most per dirham. A diagnostic against the real syllabus code early in the year prevents the most expensive mistake available.

For Dubailand families this is also the year the journey lengthens, since secondary students travel out of the belt. Sessions in Year 10 should be sized for a school night rather than a free afternoon, which argues for shorter frequent slots rather than long ones at a premium rate.

Y11Ages 15-16

Year 11 and the examination series

The expensive year, and the one where specialist rates are genuinely justified. Work shifts from content to board-specific technique: command terms, timing, the structure a markscheme pays for. Bestimate puts specialist examination-year support at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and upward per month for a weekly session, and the intensity usually rises above weekly in the final stretch.

Cambridge candidates in the UAE sit June and November series; Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. A November resit is a real second chance but results reach students in January, which is after many sixth-form conversations, and that timing should be priced into the plan rather than discovered.

POST16Ages 16-18

Post-16 and the equivalency question

A Levels or the IB Diploma, with International GCSE tier and grade constraining the options. For Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, five accredited International GCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3 are required, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects.

Getting the five-subject count right in Year 9 costs nothing. Getting it wrong can cost a resit series and a year. One competitor page ranking for these searches states six subjects, which is incorrect, and a family who planned an option block from that page has made an expensive error for free.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Not every International GCSE subject costs the same to support, because the scarcity of specialists and the amount of technique involved differ. These notes are about where hours convert into marks most efficiently.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended · Pearson 4MA1 Foundation and Higher

The best-supplied subject in the market, so rates sit mid-band rather than at a scarcity premium. Hours convert efficiently because the failure is usually method presentation rather than understanding, and that is teachable in a defined number of sessions.

Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Fewer specialists than maths, so expect the upper half of the qualified band. Electricity and mechanics are taught early and compound, which means money spent in Year 10 goes considerably further than the same money in the spring of Year 11.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Moles, electrolysis and organic chemistry concentrate the difficulty into identifiable blocks, which makes short targeted runs unusually cost-effective. A diagnostic that locates the block is worth more than a term of general revision.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Content volume makes this the subject where families most often buy too many hours. The marks are lost in answer structure on longer questions, so a small number of sessions on technique usually beats extended content coverage.

Combined and Coordinated Sciences

Cambridge 0653 and 0654 · Pearson double award

Reduced content across all three sciences, and the classic overspend: families buy separate-science support and pay for topics that have been removed from the award. Confirming the award before booking saves weeks of fees.

English as a First Language

Cambridge 0500 · Pearson 4EA1

Well supplied and mid-band. Progress depends on repeated marked writing, so the cost driver is how much the tutor reads between sessions rather than the session length itself. Ask what marking is included before comparing quotes.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

A separate specification with its own components. Families who book first-language support for a second-language entry pay for material of limited use, which is among the cheapest errors to avoid and the most common to make.

Business Studies and Economics

Cambridge 0450 and 0455 · Pearson equivalents

Application and evaluation carry the top band, not definitions. Hours spent on definitions are close to wasted at this level, so a tutor who starts with past-paper evaluation questions is using the budget correctly.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge 0478 and 0417

Thinner specialist supply, so rates run higher. The frequent and expensive mistake is booking support for one when the student is entered for the other, since the two specifications share almost nothing in content.

Arabic

First language and additional language routes

Compulsory in Dubai private schools, with separate classes required for Arab and non-Arab students. Support works from the school's own material, because for the mandatory subjects any different or additional content needs prior Ministry of Education permission.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, priced differently and suited to different problems. The cheapest format is not the cheapest answer if it does not fix the thing that is costing marks.

Weekly one-to-one with a board specialist

The format most Year 10 and 11 work needs, and the one the mid and specialist bands describe. A fixed slot with a tutor who knows the syllabus code, sequenced against the school's scheme of work. Priced per session rather than per package so that a family can stop without forfeiting anything.

  • Board and syllabus code confirmed before the first paid hour
  • Marking of written work between sessions agreed up front
  • Short written note to the parent after each session
  • No travel component in the fee

Short diagnostic block

Three to five sessions that establish exactly where the marks are going, written up so a parent can take it to the school. For a family deciding whether to commit a year's budget, this is the cheapest way to find out what the actual problem is before paying for a solution to the wrong one.

  • Assessed against the specific syllabus code and tier
  • Written gap list prioritised by mark weight
  • Honest verdict on whether a tier change is realistic
  • Defined cost, defined end point

Pre-series intensive

A higher-frequency run in the weeks before the June or November series, which is where the specialist band earns its rate. Content is only revisited where it is costing marks on the papers the student will actually sit; the rest is command terms, structure and timing.

  • Opens with a full timed paper, not a topic quiz
  • Two or three sessions a week for a defined number of weeks
  • Technique drilled on the correct board's question style
  • Weekend mornings available at no premium

01

The sourced rate card nobody else publishes

Start with the full spread, because a parent cannot judge a quote without it. The figures below come from competitor pages that published them and from Bestimate's Dubai tutoring cost table. They are market rates and not IB Gram's prices, and each row names who published it so the claim can be checked rather than taken on trust.

Reading the table from the bottom up is more instructive than from the top down. The cheapest band exists and it is legitimate for the right job. A university student at AED 50 an hour working through number bonds with a Year 7 in Mudon is good value. The same person preparing a Year 11 for an Extended chemistry paper is not, because they have never read the markscheme that decides the grade, and the twenty hours bought at that rate produce less movement than six hours at three times the price.

The in-home row is the one to read most carefully. AED 180 to 500 an hour, travel included, is what the market quotes for a visit. The teaching inside that hour is not systematically better than the teaching in an online hour at AED 150 to 300. The difference is the journey, and in a belt that runs from Arabian Ranches to Town Square the journey is long. That is why the monthly comparison matters more: roughly AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions against roughly AED 799 for eight online ones.

One more figure deserves stating because it should be zero. The MoHRE private tutor work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Any tutor presenting a licensing or registration cost as a line item in a quote is charging for something that is free.

Four places Dubailand families waste the money

Overspending on tuition in this belt follows a pattern, and all four versions of it are avoidable with information a parent already has or can get in one email. None of them is about being charged too much per hour. All four are about buying the wrong product.

The first is buying volume instead of expertise. Twenty hours at AED 60 feels prudent against six hours at AED 270, and for a Year 8 it probably is. For a Year 11 sitting an Extended paper in eight weeks it is not, because the work at that point is board-specific technique and the cheap tutor is reconstructing the specification from memory. The second is paying the travel premium for a student who does not need physical presence. Below roughly Year 5, and for students with significant attention difficulties, presence does real work. For a fifteen-year-old working on 0580 past papers, the premium buys a drive.

The third is the expensive one. Paying for months of tuition when the problem is the entry tier. A Cambridge Core entry caps the grade at C, and once entries are submitted no quantity of hours changes that. A family spending AED 1,200 a month on a subject where the ceiling is already below the grade they need has bought nothing. The fix costs three or four diagnostic sessions and one conversation with the school, in time.

The fourth is buying support for the wrong specification. Cambridge 0500 First Language English and 0510 Second Language English are different qualifications. Computer Science 0478 and ICT 0417 share almost nothing. Combined and Coordinated Science awards have content removed that separate-science material still covers. Each of those errors costs a term of fees and produces revision that does not match the paper. One email to the examinations officer asking for the board, code and tier prevents all four.

03

The hourly rate is the wrong unit, so ask what the quote includes

Two tutors quoting AED 250 an hour can be offering substantially different products, and the difference is invisible in the number. The variable is what happens outside the session. One tutor marks a past paper between sessions and arrives with a diagnosis. Another arrives and asks what the student would like to look at. The second is cheaper to deliver and costs the same.

So the questions to ask are specific. Is written work marked between sessions, and how much of it? Is the session length sixty minutes of teaching or fifty-five with setup? Are materials written for the correct syllabus code, or generic? Does the fee cover a short written note to the parent, and does anyone review progress against a starting diagnostic? Is the rate per hour or per lesson, and are those the same thing? Does the quoted figure include VAT, and if the provider cannot say, that is itself informative.

Ask also what happens when a session is missed, because this is where unadvertised costs appear. A cancellation window, a policy on make-up sessions, and whether a package expires are all things a parent should know before paying for a month. Market packages circulate at roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions, and in both cases the question of what happens to an unused session is worth asking in writing.

On our side the answers are stated rather than implied. The trial lesson is free, requires no card, and is a full session rather than a fifteen-minute introduction. We do not publish an IB Gram rate card on these pages because the right number depends on subject, level and frequency, and a figure quoted before anyone has met the student is marketing rather than information. What we will not do is attach a condition to the word free without saying so on the same screen.

04

Group classes, tuition centres and the per-student illusion

A group class looks like straightforward arithmetic: divide the tutor's rate by four and the price per student falls. For some purposes that arithmetic holds. For the problem most Dubailand families are actually trying to solve, it does not, and understanding why saves a wasted term.

A group moves at the group's pace. If four Year 11 students share a class and one of them is losing marks on moles while another is losing them on organic mechanisms, the hour addresses at best one of those and the other student is sitting through content they already have. Group teaching is efficient for delivering a syllabus and inefficient for closing a specific deficit, which is precisely what examination-year tutoring is for. Used earlier, in Years 8 and 9, a group class covering breadth is often good value.

Tuition centres with premises in Dubai are a different legal and commercial animal from an individual tutor. A centre needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. That permit is worth asking about, and it is also the reason the phrase approved tutor is used loosely in this market: the permit belongs to the institution, not to a person, and it is not a judgement about teaching quality.

IB Gram does not operate a centre, an office or a branch in the UAE, and holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry, IB, Cambridge or Pearson approval or accreditation. We explain what each body does and link to it. A provider claiming an approval it cannot evidence is telling a parent something useful about the reliability of its other claims, including its prices.

05

Budgeting a full Year 10 to Year 11 run

Most families in this belt do not want a rate, they want a total. The honest way to produce one is to multiply a monthly band by the months, then add the examination-year intensity separately, because the final stretch is where frequency rises. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session give the base: AED 240 to 600 for budget provision, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and upward for specialist examination-year support.

A two-subject plan running from the start of Year 10 to the June series is roughly eighteen school months, allowing for breaks. At the mid band that is a substantial commitment, and it is worth asking whether both subjects need the whole period. Frequently they do not. One subject may need a diagnostic and a ten-week block in Year 10, with the budget concentrated on the second subject in Year 11. Spreading an identical amount evenly across both for eighteen months is the default and it is rarely optimal.

Context helps a parent judge whether the total is reasonable. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the following academic year under the emirate's second economic incentives package. Tuition is therefore the variable cost in a household education budget while fees are not, which argues for deciding the tutoring total deliberately rather than letting it accumulate monthly.

The table below sets out indicative scenarios using the sourced monthly bands. They are illustrations built from published market figures, not quotations, and no scenario here is an IB Gram price. The useful column is the last one, which names what the scenario is actually buying.

What tuition cannot buy at any price

This section exists because the alternative is a page that implies money solves everything, and that is both untrue and the thing that makes parents distrust tutoring generally. There are outcomes no fee purchases, and saying so is the most useful thing a provider can do for a family deciding how much to spend.

No tutor can guarantee a grade. Not at AED 50 an hour and not at AED 650. Grades depend on the student's work between sessions, on what the papers ask in a particular series, and on where boundaries fall. No provider can promise a grade, a fixed improvement or a refund tied to an outcome, because none of them has a mechanism to keep that promise, and the UAE treats commercial representations seriously. Equally, no statistic should be quoted at a parent without the number of students behind it, the date and the method, which rules out most of the satisfaction and improvement figures displayed in this market.

No tutor may produce assessed work, whatever the fee. One page ranking for these searches sells completed Internal Assessments for a four-figure sum. That is an academic malpractice trigger and the consequence falls on the student, not the seller. A tutor may teach content, explain what criteria reward, test an approach, read a draft the student wrote and show where it loses marks, and teach referencing properly. A tutor must never draft or rewrite the submission.

And no tutor can undo a closed entry. If a tier caps the grade, the money is better spent on the tier conversation than on hours. Nor is tutoring required for Ministry of Education equivalency, for a UAE university place or for school progression, and any page suggesting otherwise is manufacturing pressure around a regulatory process. The published equivalency requirements are a matter of record, and checking them on moe.gov.ae costs nothing at all.

07

Why the near-me search produces the wrong price in this belt

Return to the search phrase, because distance and price are the same conversation here. Dubailand is a development zone rather than a neighbourhood, stretching south-east along Al Ain Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and absorbing Arabian Ranches and its successors, Motor City, Dubai Sports City, DAMAC Hills, Town Square, Mudon and Remraam. Two families both searching from Dubailand addresses can be twenty-five minutes apart.

A tutor pricing a visit to Town Square is pricing eighty minutes of driving attached to a sixty-minute lesson, plus the risk that Al Qudra Road is slow. They have two options: charge the top of the AED 180 to 500 band, or widen their subject range so that the diary fills with whoever is nearby regardless of subject. Most do some of both. The parent therefore pays more and chooses from less, which is the opposite of what a proximity search is supposed to deliver.

Remove the journey and both problems dissolve at once. The rate loses its travel component, so the comparison is with the AED 150 to 300 online band rather than the AED 180 to 500 in-home one. And the match is made on board, syllabus code and tier rather than on who is free and close, which is the variable that actually determines whether the hours convert into marks.

That is the whole of the argument for how IB Gram serves this belt, and it should be stated without overselling it. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. Specialists may be based in the UAE or elsewhere, including experienced Cambridge and Pearson teachers outside the Emirates, which is how a Town Square family reaches a 0620 Extended specialist at all. A parent deserves to know that before paying rather than after.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Dubailand

What a family in this belt pays depends partly on where they live, because distance determines whether a travel premium applies at all. These notes are about cost rather than character.

Arabian Ranches

Established and relatively accessible, so in-home quotes here sit nearer the middle of the AED 180 to 500 band than the top. Secondary journeys out of the belt still push session times later, which narrows the pool willing to visit.

Arabian Ranches 2 and 3

Further along Al Qudra Road and younger in profile. In-home quotes rise with the distance, while the lower demand band suited to Years 7 to 9 makes the premium harder to justify financially.

Motor City

Closer to the Al Khail corridor and denser, so visiting tutors quote more competitively here than anywhere else in the belt. The constraint is the evening sports calendar rather than the fee.

Dubai Sports City

Training occupies the hours a visiting tutor would otherwise fill, which pushes requests to weekend mornings. A weekend visit commands the top of the in-home band, where an online weekend session does not.

DAMAC Hills and Town Square

The longest journeys and therefore the highest travel loading in the belt. This is where the gap between the online and in-home bands is widest, and where it is most clearly paying for a car.

Mudon and Remraam

Two-sibling evenings are requested from here more than anywhere else. In-home that means either one tutor stretched across two levels or two visit fees; online it means two consecutive slots and no travel loading at all.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubailand

Arabian Ranches and the Al Qudra corridor

Fee-paying British-curriculum provision for the older half of the belt, mostly a short drive north of the villa communities. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the following academic year, which is useful context when budgeting tuition alongside fees.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • Safa Community School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail
  • Kent College Dubai

Motor City, Sports City and the southern communities

Newer provision inside the communities, with growing International GCSE cohorts. Dubai's next intake adds seven private schools and 16,846 places across the emirate, which changes supply and therefore the tutoring market in belts like this one.

  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy
  • South View School
  • GEMS FirstPoint School, The Villa
  • Fairgreen International School

Schools are named as Dubailand catchment context only; no affiliation or endorsement is implied, and current fee and inspection information should be read on the KHDA website.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the board, code and tier, free

One email to the school's examinations officer. The reply prevents the two most expensive mistakes on this page: paying for the wrong specification, and paying for months of work against a capped tier. It costs nothing and it changes what any quote is worth.

  2. 02

Buy a diagnostic before buying a year

Three to five sessions that produce a written gap list and an honest verdict on the tier. For a family weighing a twelve-month commitment at AED 600 to 2,000 a month, finding out what the actual problem is first is the cheapest decision available.

  3. 03

    Interrogate what the quote includes

Marking between sessions, session length, materials matched to the syllabus code, a note to the parent, the cancellation window, whether unused sessions expire, and whether VAT is included. Two quotes at the same hourly rate are often different products.

  4. 04

Use the free trial as the comparison

A full session at no charge and no card. The question is not whether it was pleasant but whether the tutor could name the specific skill costing marks by the end. That answer tells you more about value than any rate card.

  5. 05

    Review spend at six sessions

Measure against the diagnostic rather than a feeling, and be willing to concentrate the budget on one subject instead of spreading it thinly across two. Pause for mock weeks and travel; nothing has to run continuously to be worth paying for.

Prices published with their sources

Every AED figure on this page names who published it and when it was gathered. Three of the six most visible pages in this market publish no price at all, and one asks the price question in its own FAQ list before declining to answer it.

No travel loading in the fee

Lessons run over live video, so nothing in the price is paying for a car. In a belt where a visit means up to eighty minutes of driving either side of the lesson, that is the single largest avoidable cost a Dubailand family faces.

The free trial is genuinely free

A full session, no card, no condition attached and nothing to cancel. Where a condition does apply to anything described as free, it is stated on the same screen, because attaching an unstated condition to that word is a consumer-protection problem as well as a trust one.

No guarantees, and no invented statistics

No grade guarantee, no improvement guarantee, no refund tied to an outcome, and no satisfaction or results figure without the number of students, the date and the method behind it. Those claims are common in this market and none of them can be evidenced.

The tier conversation comes before the invoice

If an entry tier caps the grade a family needs, hours cannot fix it and we will say so rather than sell them. A written diagnostic a parent can take to the school is worth more at that point than a term of weekly sessions.

No approval claimed that we do not hold

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry, Cambridge or Pearson approval or accreditation and operates no UAE office or centre. The MoHRE private tutor permit is free of charge, so no licensing cost should appear in anybody's quote.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubailand: your questions answered

How much does an IGCSE tutor near Dubailand actually charge per hour?+

The published Dubai spread runs from AED 45 to AED 650. Budget online provision is AED 45 to 150, with EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. Qualified online subject tutors are quoted at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing International GCSE from AED 150. Specialist provision runs AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270, and premium named provision reaches AED 650 with BartyED. In-home visits are AED 180 to 500 including travel. None of these are IB Gram prices; they are the market, cited so a quote can be checked.

What should I budget per month for Year 11 in the Dubailand belt?+

Bestimate's Dubai estimates for a weekly one-hour session put specialist examination-year support at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and upward per month, against AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range and AED 240 to 600 for budget provision. Most Year 11 plans rise above weekly in the final stretch, so the realistic figure sits at the top of that band for a subject that matters. Packages of roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions exist and are worth comparing against the in-home equivalent of AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits.

Is it cheaper to use an online platform than a home tutor around Arabian Ranches?+

On published figures, yes, and the gap is the journey rather than the teaching. Online qualified provision is quoted at AED 150 to 300 an hour against AED 180 to 500 for an in-home visit with travel included. Monthly, four two-hour in-home sessions are advertised at AED 1,599 to 1,799 while roughly AED 799 buys eight online sessions. For a young child or a student with significant attention difficulties the in-home premium buys something real. For a Year 10 or 11 student working on past papers, it mostly buys a drive.

Why do tutors quote more to visit Town Square than Motor City?+

Because the drive is longer and the risk of delay is higher. Dubailand stretches south-east along Al Ain Road and Al Qudra Road, so a tutor visiting the far communities is attaching up to eighty minutes of travel to a sixty-minute lesson. They either charge the top of the AED 180 to 500 band or widen their subject range to fill a diary with nearby families regardless of subject. The parent ends up paying more and choosing from less, which is the opposite of what a proximity search is meant to achieve.

Does the tutoring price include VAT?+

Ask, and get the answer in writing. We do not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition as a general fact on these pages because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation, and a tutoring page is not the right source for a tax position. What a provider can and should tell you is whether the figure they have quoted you is inclusive or exclusive, and whether they hold a tax registration number. A provider who cannot answer either question clearly has told you something useful about their invoicing.

Is a cheap tutor false economy for an Extended tier paper?+

Usually, yes, and the reason is specific rather than snobbish. At AED 45 to 65 an hour the tutor is typically a generalist or a student who has not read the markscheme that decides the grade. For a Year 8 building number fluency that is fine and good value. For a Year 11 eight weeks from an Extended paper the work is board-specific technique, and twenty hours of general revision moves fewer marks than six hours aimed at measured gaps. Buy the diagnostic first, then decide which band the actual problem needs.

Can group classes save money for my Dubailand Year 10?+

For breadth, yes. For a specific deficit, rarely. A group moves at the group's pace, so if four students are each losing marks somewhere different, the hour addresses at most one of them. Group teaching is efficient at delivering a syllabus and inefficient at closing a gap, which is what examination-year tutoring is for. Used in Years 8 and 9 for coverage it can be good value, and tuition centres running them in Dubai need a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, which is worth asking about.

How much does the tutor's UAE permit add to the price?+

Nothing, and any quote with a licensing line item deserves a question. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, with MoHRE's own service page listing no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Tutoring without it attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no amounts are published.

What is the most expensive mistake families in this belt make?+

Paying for months of tuition in a subject where the entry tier already caps the grade below what the family needs. A Cambridge Core entry leads to grades C to G, and once entries are submitted no quantity of hours changes that. A household spending AED 600 to 1,200 a month against a capped ceiling has bought nothing. Three or four diagnostic sessions and one timely conversation with the school cost a fraction of that and are the only intervention that works, provided they happen before entries close.

Do rates in Dubai rise closer to the exam series?+

Demand does, and availability tightens, which has the same effect on a family's options even where a published rate does not change. The specialist band of AED 200 to 450 and upward is the one that fills first, and the half past five to seven weekday window fills across the whole city at once. Booking a specialist in the autumn for a June series costs the same per hour as booking in March and secures an hour that actually suits the household. That is a scheduling saving rather than a discount, but it is a real one.

What should a quote include besides the teaching hour?+

Marking of written work between sessions and how much of it, whether the session is sixty minutes of teaching or fifty-five with setup, whether materials are written for the correct syllabus code or generic, whether a note to the parent is included, the cancellation window, whether unused sessions in a package expire, and whether VAT is inside the figure. Two tutors quoting the same hourly rate often sell different products, and the difference lives entirely in that list rather than in the number.

Can anybody guarantee my child a grade for the money?+

No, and a provider offering one is making a promise with no mechanism behind it. Grades depend on work between sessions, on what a particular series asks and on where boundaries fall. We publish no grade guarantee, no improvement guarantee and no refund tied to an outcome. We also publish no satisfaction or results statistic, because any such figure needs the number of students, the date and the method stated alongside it, and most of the figures displayed in this market carry none of those three.

How many IGCSE subjects should we actually pay to support?+

Fewer than most families start with, and concentrated rather than spread. A common pattern that wastes money is weekly support in four subjects at a mid rate for eighteen months. A better pattern is a diagnostic across all four, then a ten-week block in whichever one or two are actually losing marks, with the budget held back for the examination year in the subject that matters most. Note separately that Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track requires five accredited subjects at no less than E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education.

Is the free trial lesson really free in Dubailand?+

Yes: a full session, no card, no condition attached and nothing to cancel afterwards. We are deliberate about this because the word free is used loosely in this market, and attaching an unstated condition to it is a consumer-protection problem as well as a trust one. Where any condition does apply to something described as free, it belongs on the same screen as the word. Use the trial as a diagnostic rather than a sales meeting: the test is whether the tutor can name the skill costing marks by the end of the hour.

Decide what you are buying before you compare rates

An IGCSE tutor near me in Dubailand is a question about distance, and distance is the part of the price that does the least for your child. Get the board, the syllabus code and the tier from the school, buy a short diagnostic rather than a year, ask what any quote actually includes, and then compare. The sourced bands on this page exist so you can tell whether a figure is normal. Book a free trial lesson with a board specialist, judge it on whether the tutor can name the skill costing marks, and spend from there. Nothing is sent to your address and no card is required.
