Cambridge IGCSE Physical Science 0652 Home Tutor in Dubai

Searching for a Cambridge IGCSE Physical Science 0652 home tutor in Dubai usually means one of two things: your child's chemistry or physics marks have slipped, or Year 11 has started and the budget conversation has arrived. This page answers the money question in dirhams, then the question behind it, which is what each dirham actually buys. Market bands, the extras nobody plans for, and why the calendar moves the price. Lessons are one-to-one over live video.

  • Market AED bands with their source and date, not a sales figure
  • The extras families forget: entries, resits, remarks, materials
  • Why an October booking costs less than an April one
  • Online one-to-one delivery; no tutor is sent to a UAE address

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The rate is the small question. The hours are the big one

Parents comparing 0652 tutors in Dubai almost always compare hourly rates, because that is the number providers put in front of them. It is the wrong number to optimise. A tutor at AED 180 an hour who needs twenty-four sessions to fix a problem costs more than a tutor at AED 300 an hour who fixes it in eight, and the second one also returns your Year 11 evenings. The question that actually decides your total is how many hours the specific weakness needs, and that question can only be answered after somebody has looked at a marked script.

Here are the market numbers so the page is not coy about them. Read in October 2026 from published UAE rate cards and from Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table: budget online tutoring runs AED 45 to 150 an hour, a qualified subject tutor online runs AED 150 to 300, a tutor who travels to your community runs AED 180 to 500 once the drive is accounted for, an IGCSE and A Level specialist runs AED 200 to 450 and above, and premium named tutors reach AED 500 to 650 and above. Monthly packages advertised in Dubai cluster around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. None of those are IB Gram prices. They are the market you are shopping in.

0652 has a specific effect on where in those bands a quote lands. It is chemistry and physics in a single award, which means the tutor must hold both at IGCSE depth, and it is a smaller entry in Dubai than Coordinated Sciences 0654 or the separate sciences. Smaller entry means fewer tutors who have taught the exact paper structure recently, and scarcity prices upward. It also means something more useful: fewer sessions, in many cases, because there are two sciences to cover rather than three.

On the phrase in the URL. Home visits in Dubai are not something IB Gram sells, and no tutor will be sent to a UAE address; that is a service we run only in India. This page therefore does the honest thing with the home-tutoring question rather than ignoring it: what the in-home market charges, what the drive costs in time as well as money, and where the trade actually sits for a family in Dubai South or on the Palm. Our delivery across the Emirates is one-to-one teaching over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.

The rest of the page is arranged by cost rather than by syllabus. What AED 1,000 buys four different ways, the extras nobody budgets for, why the exam calendar moves the price, and what money cannot buy at any rate. If you want the syllabus content and the marking detail instead, that is on the pages for the online and the general 0652 searches.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost per year is not flat across a British-curriculum pathway. These are the four stages where Dubai families spend on science support, and where the spending is and is not worth it.

Y9Ages 13-14 · Year 9

Year 9: the cheapest intervention point

Short, targeted work on calculation fluency, graph work and practical write-ups. A handful of sessions here is the least expensive useful tutoring available in the whole pathway, because the habits being installed are the ones that later decide IGCSE marks and nothing has to be unlearned yet.

Dubai schools generally fix science routes and tiers in the spring term of Year 9, so this is also the only point at which a modest spend can change which qualification a child sits. Families who spend nothing here and a great deal in Year 11 are the standard pattern in this city, and it is the expensive way round.

Y10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

Year 10: maintenance, not rescue

Where most of the 0652 content is taught. Sensible spending is low and regular: a weekly or fortnightly session keeping pace with the school's sequence, with marked written work in between. Expensive Year 10 tutoring usually means either a content gap from Year 9 or a tier that was set optimistically.

Dubai evenings in Year 10 are crowded, because Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies run alongside the licensed curriculum as KHDA requires in every private school in the emirate. A short weekly marked task beats a long session nobody has time to prepare for, and it costs less.

Y11Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Year 11: where the budget actually goes

Mocks, predicted grades and the exam series. Spending peaks here and is most often misallocated: general science tutoring where one block was weak, or an expensive spring intensive where an autumn practical block would have done more for less.

Rates in this market rise with demand as the June series approaches, and the most contested slots in Dubai are weekday evenings between 5pm and 8pm. Families who book the same work in October rather than April pay less for it and get more use from it, because the skills carry through the mocks as well.

RESITAges 16+

Resits and private candidates

A November series retake, sat through a school or as a private candidate at a registered exam centre. In the UAE that November sitting is the only retake route between one June series and the next, so it is a decision with a date on it. The tutoring is usually short and focused, but the surrounding costs — entry fees, centre administration, sometimes a different exam board timetable — are real and sit entirely outside any tutoring quote.

Entry fees in the UAE are set by the exam centre rather than by Cambridge, and they vary by centre and by series, so the only reliable figure is the one your centre quotes you in writing. Ask about late-entry surcharges at the same time, because they are where resit budgets usually break.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Not every 0652 topic costs the same to fix. Below, each block is paired with the realistic size of the job, because that is what determines your total rather than the rate on the advert.

Units, prefixes and standard form

Underpins both halves

Usually two to three sessions and the best value on the whole syllabus. A student who is shaky here reads as weak in both chemistry and physics, and families regularly buy a term of science teaching when the actual problem was milli, kilo and powers of ten.

Balancing equations and writing formulae

Core and Extended

Two to four sessions. Low glamour, high return: every quantitative chemistry mark downstream depends on a balanced equation appearing when the question does not ask for one. Skipping this and starting at stoichiometry is the commonest wasted spend in 0652 chemistry.

The mole, reacting masses and concentration

Extended emphasis

Four to six sessions, and the single largest line in most 0652 budgets. Charged twice because the content appears in both the multiple-choice and the theory paper. Worth paying for properly; not worth paying for before the units and equations work is done.

Electrolysis and electrode products

Core and Extended

Two to three sessions if taught as a rule. Much longer if the student has memorised one worked example, because every variation the examiner introduces then has to be learned separately. Ask a prospective tutor which of those two approaches they use.

Rates, energetics and reversible change

Core and Extended

Two to four sessions. Mostly graph reading and explanation structure rather than new content, so it overlaps with the data-technique work and is cheaper when bought alongside it than as a standalone block.

Acids, bases, salts and periodic trends

Core and Extended

Two to three sessions. Salt-preparation questions are practical questions in disguise and reward a fixed sequence, so this block pairs efficiently with practical-component work rather than being bought separately.

Metals, fuels and air quality

Core and Extended

One to two sessions. Cheap to fix because the marks go to naming specific substances rather than to understanding, and students usually see the pattern on their own marked script the first time it is pointed out.

Motion and graph interpretation

Core and Extended

Three to four sessions. Gradient and area-under-graph work transfers directly into the practical component and into rate graphs in chemistry, so it is one of the few blocks that pays for itself twice within the same award.

Forces, moments and energy transfer

Core and Extended

Two to four sessions. Diagram discipline is most of the job: distances measured from the pivot, forces labelled, energy transfers named rather than described loosely. Short sessions with marked practice suit this better than long ones.

Thermal physics, waves and sound

Core and Extended

Two to three sessions. Ray diagrams with the normal drawn and particle-level explanations are the scoring behaviours, and both are quick to install. A common topic to drop from a plan when the budget is tight, and reasonable to drop if the marked script shows it secure.

Electricity, circuits and power

Core and Extended

Four to six sessions and the biggest physics line in a 0652 budget. Systematic, repeatable question styles, so the money converts into marks reliably. Also the block most often left until the final weeks, when rates in this market are at their highest.

Magnetism and radioactivity

Core and Extended

One to three sessions. Largely precision of language and systematic half-life working. Inexpensive, frequently overlooked, and a reliable source of marks on both papers for a student who has run out of budget for the larger blocks.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to spend a 0652 budget, with what each one costs you in hours as well as dirhams. All sessions are one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time.

Short targeted block

Four to six sessions aimed at one named weakness: the mole, circuits, the practical component, or calculation discipline. The cheapest useful purchase on this syllabus and the one most families should start with. It needs a marked script first, otherwise the target is a guess and the block becomes general tutoring with a short name.

  • One named target, agreed before the first paid session
  • Timed question set after each session, returned marked
  • Ends on a date; no automatic continuation
  • Lowest total spend of any format that reliably moves marks

Weekly through the exam year

A standing 60 or 90-minute slot across Year 11. More expensive in total and justified where there are multiple weak blocks or where the student needs the rhythm of an external deadline each week. The 90-minute version usually has a lower effective hourly rate than the 60-minute one, because the setup cost is spread.

  • 90 minutes often costs less per hour than 60
  • Suits students with gaps across both halves of the award
  • Reviewed at each mock, not left to run
  • Pauses available around school exams and travel

Pre-series intensive

Two or three sessions a week in the final six to eight weeks. The most expensive format per week and the one most often bought for the wrong reason. It works if the content is secure and the problem is timing or technique. It does very little, at considerable cost, if whole topics are missing.

  • Only worth buying after a diagnostic says the content is there
  • Slots in this window are the most contested of the year
  • Can shift to post-Iftar timing during Ramadan
  • Cheaper and more effective if booked in autumn instead

01

What AED 1,000 buys four different ways

Hourly rates make options look comparable when they are not. A more useful exercise is to fix the spend and ask what each route delivers for it. Take AED 1,000, which is roughly a month of weekly support at the mid-market online band, and look at what four different routes produce for that money on a 0652 problem.

Spent on one-to-one online teaching at the qualified-tutor band, AED 1,000 buys something in the region of four to six hours of teaching plus the marked work in between. Spent on an in-home tutor at the published in-home band, it buys perhaps two to five hours, of which part of the value is the convenience of not organising anything. Spent on a tuition centre group class it buys considerably more contact time, shared with other students moving at one pace. Spent on past papers and a parent willing to mark honestly against the published mark scheme, it buys nothing at all, because the papers are free from the school and the mark scheme does the work.

That last row is not a joke and it belongs in any honest costing. A student with secure content, decent timing and no practical preparation does not need a tutor; they need four weeks of timed papers marked properly. Tutoring earns its money where something has to be diagnosed and taught, and the diagnosis is the part parents cannot do themselves because it requires knowing which lost mark belongs to which cause.

The table below sets the four routes side by side on the same AED 1,000. Treat the hour figures as arithmetic from the published market bands rather than as quotes, because the bands are wide and the actual rate depends on tier, session length and how close to the series you are booking.

The three questions that should come before any quote

A provider who gives you an hourly rate before asking anything has told you nothing about your total. Three questions, asked in this order, turn a rate into a cost.

First: how many sessions, and against what target? A quote of AED 250 an hour means nothing until somebody commits to roughly how many hours the problem needs and what should look different afterwards. An honest answer sounds like four to six sessions on the mole with timed sets between, reviewed against the next school assessment. A dishonest answer sounds like we will see how it goes. Second: what is the session length and the per-hour effect of it? Ninety-minute sessions usually carry a lower effective hourly rate than sixty-minute ones because the setup is amortised, so the headline rate can be misleading in either direction.

Third: what comes back between sessions, and marked how? Marked written work against the published mark scheme is the part of a tutoring purchase that does the teaching when the tutor is not there, and it is also the only evidence you will have that the money is working. A provider charging a premium rate without returning marked work is charging for presence rather than progress. Ask what the marking looks like before the first paid session, and ask to see one marked piece after it.

A fourth, smaller one: VAT. This page does not state how UAE VAT applies to tuition fees, because that is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority's own guidance rather than for a tutoring site. What you should do is ask any provider whether a quoted AED figure is inclusive or exclusive, and have the answer in writing before you commit. Monthly package pricing is where this most often becomes a surprise.

The table below is the quote-comparison shape that actually helps. Fill it in for two or three providers and the cheapest headline rate frequently stops being the cheapest option.

03

The commute is a time cost before it is a money cost

  • An in-home session starts when traffic allows, not when your child is sharpest
  • A one-hour visit is often a two-hour commitment for the tutor
  • Outlying communities get offered the slots that fit a driving route
  • No travel means a 90-minute booking is 90 minutes of teaching

The in-home premium gets discussed as a rate difference, which understates it. The real cost of a tutor driving to your community in Dubai is time, and most of that time is yours rather than theirs.

Consider a realistic weekday. School transport delivers your child home somewhere between 3.30pm and 4.30pm depending on the route. Activities, if any, run to 5pm or later. A tutor driving from where tutors tend to live to Dubai South, the Palm or Jumeirah Golf Estates between 5pm and 6pm is in the worst traffic of the week. The session therefore starts later than is ideal for an exam-year student, and it starts at whatever time the drive permits rather than at the time your child concentrates best. On a Year 11 evening with Arabic homework, Islamic Education and two other subjects also competing, that displacement matters more than the rate does.

There is a second-order cost that nobody quotes. A tutor committing two hours to deliver one can hold fewer slots, so the slots they do hold are the ones that fit their driving pattern. Families in outlying communities therefore get offered the leftover times. Online removes the whole structure: there is no travel on either side, a 90-minute booking is 90 minutes of teaching, and the slot is chosen for the student. During Ramadan, sessions move to post-Iftar timing without anybody renegotiating a drive.

Home visits in Dubai are not something IB Gram sells, so take the above as an argument rather than a neutral survey, and weigh it yourself. What should not be in dispute is the arithmetic: on a chemistry-and-physics combination, removing the drive-time constraint changes the pool of tutors you are choosing from. For a 0652 entry, which is smaller in this emirate than coordinated or separate sciences, that pool difference is the whole game.

04

The costs nobody budgets for

A tutoring quote is not the cost of getting an IGCSE grade. Several other things sit around it, and families planning a 0652 year are better off knowing about them in September than discovering them in February.

Exam entry is the first. Where a student sits through their school, the entry is handled in the school fees or billed separately depending on the school. Where a student sits as a private candidate — common for a resit — the entry goes through a registered exam centre, and the centre sets the fee rather than Cambridge. Those fees vary by centre and by series, which is why no honest page publishes a figure: the number that matters is the one your chosen centre quotes you in writing. Ask about late-entry surcharges in the same conversation, because missing a final entry deadline is the most expensive administrative error available in this process.

Then there are remarks and enquiries about results, requested through the school after results are issued and charged by the centre. Materials are usually modest but not zero: a scientific calculator the student is familiar with, a decent ruler and a protractor for graph and ray-diagram work, and printing if you want timed papers done on paper rather than on screen. Printing sounds trivial and is the one that actually recurs weekly.

Finally, the costs that are not invoiced. An expensive spring intensive bought because an autumn block was skipped. A term of general science tutoring bought because nobody read a marked script first. Sessions paid for in a week the student had three school assessments and no time to prepare. Those are the largest avoidable numbers in most Dubai tutoring budgets, and none of them appear on a rate card.

05

Why the calendar moves the price

Tutoring is a capacity business, and capacity in Dubai is not evenly spread across the year. A tutor with open slots in October is in a different position from the same tutor in April, when every Year 11 family in the emirate wants the same weekday evening. The content being taught has not changed. The price and the availability have.

Exam board deadlines explain most of the shape, and the first thing to get right is which series your child is actually sitting. In the UAE, Cambridge runs two: a June series and a November series. The February/March series is offered to India only, so a Dubai family is always counting backwards from June papers, with November as the resit route. Counted that way, the expensive decisions land early: final entries close in the spring, months before the first paper, and the exact date for your centre is printed on the statement of entry rather than guessable from a website. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE has the same two-series shape in May/June and November, and there the published dates are firm: the November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those are dates a Dubai parent can budget against.

Two practical conclusions. First, decisions that cost money — a tier change, a resit entry, a move between codes — are governed by entry deadlines that fall long before the exams, so the planning window is autumn rather than spring. Second, Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Check the zone timetable through your school, every series, before building any revision plan around dates.

On IB dates, which come up because many Dubai families have children on both curricula: no IB exam or results date is published on this page, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and nothing in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. Ask your school's IB coordinator and use the date they give you.

Two sciences, not three: what that does to your total

0652 covers chemistry and physics. Coordinated Sciences 0654 and Combined Science 0653 cover all three. The separate sciences cover one each, in more depth, across three entries. That difference has a direct effect on what a tutoring plan costs, and it cuts in two directions.

Upward, because the tutor has to hold both chemistry and physics at IGCSE depth and 0652 is a smaller entry in Dubai than the alternatives, so fewer tutors have taught the exact paper structure recently. Scarcity prices upward, and a provider who cannot find a genuine chemistry-and-physics tutor will offer a physics specialist who will cover the chemistry adequately and no better. That is the substitution to watch for, and the question that detects it is simple: which of the two sciences have you taught more recently at IGCSE, and to which tier?

Downward, because there is less content. A 0652 plan has two halves to diagnose rather than three, and in practice the quantitative work overlaps: unit handling, formula rearrangement, graph gradients and standard form all serve both halves. Fixing calculation discipline once improves marks in chemistry and physics simultaneously, which is why that block is consistently the best value on this syllabus. On a double award the same money has to stretch across a biology strand as well.

The net effect for most families is a plan of similar total cost to a 0654 plan but spent differently: a higher rate, fewer sessions, more of them concentrated on the quantitative spine. That is a better shape, because it front-loads the work that transfers across the award rather than spreading hours thinly across three sciences. It also makes the plan easier to check, since the quantitative gains show up on marked scripts within a few weeks.

07

Ramadan, summer and the rest of the Dubai year

  • Sessions move to post-Iftar timing through Ramadan
  • Summer is the cheapest window for calculation and units work
  • Pause in weeks with several school assessments
  • October and early November is the highest-value block of the year

The UAE academic calendar changes when tutoring is useful and when it is money spent for the look of it. A plan built without reference to it will book sessions in weeks where nothing can be absorbed.

During Ramadan, school hours shorten and the day reorganises around Iftar. Sessions move to post-Iftar timing, which works well and needs to be arranged rather than assumed; a tutor who cannot move the slot is a scheduling problem for the whole month. The weeks immediately before and after Eid are low-yield for new content and good for consolidation and timed practice. Summer, for a Dubai family, usually means travel across several time zones, which is workable online if the slot is agreed around the travel rather than against it. Summer is also the cheapest time to buy the units, equations and calculation-discipline work, because the content is not moving at school and nothing is urgent.

The term-time pattern matters too. Dubai schools run internal assessments at predictable points, and a week with three school assessments is a week where a tutoring session displaces revision the student actually needed to do. Pausing for that week costs nothing and preserves the value of the sessions around it. Any provider unwilling to pause for a school assessment week is optimising their calendar rather than your child's marks.

The one period that is genuinely worth paying a premium for is the run-up to the November mock, because that result feeds predicted grades and still leaves time to change the spring picture. If a budget only covers one concentrated block in the whole year, October and early November is where to spend it.

08

What money cannot buy on 0652

A page about cost should be clear about what is not for sale, because several things in this market are advertised as though they were.

A grade cannot be bought. No tutor can promise one on 0652 or on any other syllabus, and a provider offering a specific grade or a refund tied to a result is making a representation they cannot stand behind. What can be committed to is specific and checkable: which papers are being prepared for, what written work comes back marked, and a plain statement when a plan is not working.

Cambridge material cannot be bought from a tutor. Past papers, mark schemes, syllabus documents and grade-boundary tables belong to Cambridge; the legitimate route is cambridgeinternational.org and your child's school, which can supply what it is licensed to supply. A provider running a download library is distributing material it has no right to distribute, and that is a reason to be wary of everything else it tells you.

Assessed work cannot be bought. There is no coursework component on 0652, so the question arises less often here than on other qualifications, and the principle holds regardless: a tutor teaches, sets practice and marks the student's own work. Any offer to produce, draft or complete assessed work for a student is a malpractice exposure for the student, not a service.

And board or regulator standing cannot be bought. Nobody in private tutoring holds KHDA approval for tutoring, because a KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific instrument issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai — initial approval first, a maximum six-month window to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. IB Gram holds no such permit and operates no UAE premises, which is exactly why this is an online service and why the page says so rather than letting you assume otherwise.

09

The cheaper routes, and when each is genuinely right

One-to-one tutoring is not always the correct purchase, and a page that pretended otherwise would be selling rather than advising. Four cheaper routes exist and each has a situation where it is the better answer.

School intervention sessions are already paid for. They come with laboratory access, which matters if your child sits the hands-on practical test, and with the teacher who sets the internal assessments. They are large, fixed in time, and not individually paced. For practical access and for catching up on recently taught material, they are the first thing to use and the most commonly under-used.

Group classes at a tuition centre are the cheapest contact hours available, sold as monthly packages. They work where a whole group shares the same gap, typically in general revision close to a series. They do not work for a 0652 student whose physics is solid and whose mole work is not, because a group moving at one pace cannot serve that. Self-study with past papers costs nothing beyond entry fees and is the right answer more often than the industry admits: a student with secure content and a timing problem needs timed papers marked properly, not teaching.

Finally, the sibling route. Most providers in this market price per student rather than per session, so two children on the same syllabus do not halve the cost, but a shared slot can still reduce the total where both are working on the same block. Worth asking about, worth being sceptical about if the two children are at different tiers, because a shared session at two different levels usually serves neither of them.

If one of those routes fits your situation, take it. The diagnostic session exists partly to establish which one you are in, and it is not unusual for the honest answer to be that no paid tutoring is needed this term.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

What an in-home quote costs in Dubai depends heavily on where you live relative to the school belts and to where tutors actually live. These notes are about that geography, and about which communities pay the largest travel premium.

Palm Jumeirah

One access road and a single point of entry. A weekday evening visit means committing to the trunk in both directions, which is why in-home quotes for the Palm sit at the top of the AED 180 to 500 band regardless of the subject.

Emirates Hills and Jumeirah Islands

Low-density villa communities a long way from where most tutors live. The travel premium here is structural rather than negotiable, and families in this cluster are the most likely to find online delivery both cheaper and better matched.

Dubai South and Expo City

Furthest from the established school and tutoring belts. An in-home session can carry an hour of driving each way at the wrong time of day, and a tutor pricing honestly has to recover that somewhere.

Al Khawaneej and Mushrif

Villa areas with good school access but limited evening tutor supply nearby. Quotes here vary widely between providers, which usually reflects where the individual tutor lives rather than how good they are.

Town Square and Mudon

Large, newer family communities along the southern corridor. Session timing is dictated by the school run rather than by the student, and the realistic in-home start time is often later than parents want for an exam-year child.

Jumeirah Golf Estates and Dubai Sports City

Self-contained communities where a 60-minute visit routinely costs a tutor two hours door to door. Online removes that entirely, which is the clearest arithmetic in this comparison anywhere in the emirate.

Nad Al Hamar and Ras Al Khor

Well placed for several school belts and reasonable for travel, so in-home quotes here are closer to the middle of the band. Supply is still thinner for a chemistry-and-physics combination than for single-subject maths or English.

Dubai Festival City and Al Jaddaf

Central and well connected, with the shortest typical travel times of any cluster on this list. Even here, the premium exists: the drive is shorter, not absent, and the tutor pool is still limited to who can reach you.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Palm Jumeirah, Al Sufouh and Umm Suqeim

Higher-fee schools where families are used to premium pricing and are most likely to be quoted at the top of the market band for in-home science support. The useful question in this cluster is not the rate but the number of sessions, because that is where the variation actually is.

  • Dubai College
  • Jumeirah College
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Kings' School Dubai
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School

Dubai South, Expo and Jebel Ali

Newer schools serving communities a long way from the central tutoring supply. Travel premiums are at their largest here, and the families who compare carefully usually conclude that the same budget buys a better-matched tutor on screen.

  • The Winchester School Jebel Ali
  • GEMS Founders School Dubai South
  • Greenfield International School
  • Delhi Private School Jebel Ali
  • Bright Riders School

Mirdif, Al Khawaneej and Mushrif

Mid-fee British-curriculum schools where science sets are large and support needs are specific rather than general. Marked timed work is the evidence a head of science in this cluster will engage with when a set or tier is being discussed.

  • Star International School Mirdif
  • GEMS Royal Dubai School
  • Uptown International School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • Credence High School

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the entry details and a marked script

The statement of entry gives the code, the tier and the practical paper number; the marked script shows where the marks are going. Between them they let a tutor estimate how many sessions a problem needs, which is the figure that decides your total rather than the hourly rate.

  2. 02

    Diagnostic lesson at no charge

One per student, no card details taken. The session identifies which blocks are weak and why, and produces an estimate of sessions needed per block. Where the honest answer is school support plus marked past papers, that is what you are told, including when it means no purchase.

  3. 03

Get the plan and the number in writing

Sessions, target, session length, the rate at that length, whether the figure is VAT inclusive, what marked work returns each week, and the notice period if you stop. All of it before the first paid lesson rather than discovered along the way.

  4. 04

Teach, mark, review at the mock

Weekly or fortnightly teaching with a timed set in between, marked against the published Cambridge scheme. The plan is reviewed against the November mock rather than allowed to run, and continuing is a decision rather than a default.

  5. 05

    Stop, change, or extend deliberately

Blocks end on a date. At the end, the marked scripts say whether the target was met, and the next decision is explicit: stop, change approach, or buy a new block with a new target. That is the single cheapest habit available to a tutoring budget.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Hours estimated before money is taken

You get an estimate of how many sessions a specific weakness needs, because that number drives your total far more than the hourly rate. An estimate can be wrong and will be revised in front of you; the absence of one is a warning sign.

Market figures with sources attached

Every AED band on this page is attributed to published UAE rate cards or Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table and dated October 2026. They describe the market you are shopping in, not an IB Gram price list, and they are there so you can argue with a quote.

No drive-time premium

Lessons run over live video, so there is no travel on either side and a 90-minute booking is 90 minutes of teaching. The slot is chosen for when your child concentrates, not for when a car can reach your community.

A tutor who holds both sciences

0652 needs chemistry and physics at IGCSE depth in the same person. Matching online rather than by driving distance is what makes that possible, and we will tell you which of the two a tutor has taught more recently if you ask.

Blocks that end

Finite plans with a named target and a review date, rather than an open-ended weekly arrangement that renews quietly. Ending forces a judgement about whether the money worked, which is the point.

Clear about what is not for sale

No grade promises, no refund tied to a result, no Cambridge papers or mark schemes distributed by us, no assessed work produced for a student, and no claim to regulator or board approval. IB Gram holds no KHDA permit and has no UAE premises.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What is a fair hourly rate for 0652 tuition in Dubai?+

Published UAE rate cards and Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table, read in October 2026, put a qualified subject tutor working online at AED 150 to 300 an hour and an IGCSE or A Level specialist at AED 200 to 450 and above. A tutor travelling to your community sits in the AED 180 to 500 band. Because 0652 requires chemistry and physics in one tutor and is a smaller entry here than coordinated or separate sciences, quotes tend to sit in the upper half of the specialist band rather than the lower half.

Is a cheaper 0652 tutor actually cheaper overall?+

Often not, because your total is hours multiplied by rate and the hours vary far more than the rate does. A tutor at AED 180 who needs twenty-four sessions to fix a weakness costs more than one at AED 300 who fixes it in eight, and the second also returns two dozen Year 11 evenings. The useful comparison is not the rate but the estimate: ask each provider how many sessions, against what target, and treat an unwillingness to estimate as information about what you are buying.

Does a quoted AED rate for 0652 tuition include VAT?+

Ask, and get the answer in writing. This page does not state how UAE VAT applies to tuition fees, because that is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority's own guidance rather than for a tutoring site to interpret. What is reasonable to expect from any provider is a clear statement of whether a quoted figure is inclusive or exclusive, and a tax registration number if they hold one. Monthly package pricing is where the question most often becomes an unpleasant surprise rather than a detail.

Why is an in-home 0652 tutor in Dubai South quoted higher than one in Al Jaddaf?+

Distance from where tutors actually live, and the time of day you want. A weekday evening visit to Dubai South, the Palm or Jumeirah Golf Estates can mean an hour of driving each way in the worst traffic of the week, so a tutor committing two hours to deliver one has to recover that somewhere. Central communities like Al Jaddaf and Festival City carry shorter drives and quotes closer to the middle of the band. IB Gram does not send tutors to UAE addresses; lessons run over live video, which removes the premium entirely.

How many hours does it take to fix mole calculations for 0652?+

Four to six sessions with timed sets in between is the usual figure, provided two things are already in place: confident unit conversion and standard form, and reliable equation balancing. Where those are shaky, they come first and add two to five sessions, and skipping them is the commonest way a chemistry block produces no visible change. Because the mole appears in both the multiple-choice and the theory paper, this is the block where hours convert into marks most reliably on the Extended tier.

What should I spend first if the 0652 budget only covers six sessions?+

Calculation discipline and units, then whichever of the two sciences the marked script says is weaker. Units, prefixes and standard form are the cheapest fix on the syllabus and they lift chemistry and physics simultaneously, since both halves of 0652 rest on the same arithmetic. If the script shows method marks missing rather than wrong answers, that is a procedural fix worth more marks per session than any topic teaching. Six sessions spent that way outperform six spread across the whole award.

What does it cost to resit 0652 as a private candidate in the UAE?+

The entry fee is set by the registered exam centre rather than by Cambridge, and it varies by centre and by series, so the only reliable figure is the one your chosen centre gives you in writing. Ask at the same time about late-entry surcharges and about what the centre requires from a private candidate, particularly for the practical component. Tutoring for a resit is usually short and targeted, so the surrounding administrative costs can be a meaningful share of the total.

When is the cheapest time of year to book 0652 tutoring in Dubai?+

Summer and the early autumn term. Capacity is widest, rates sit at the lower end of each band, and the work that matters most — units, equation balancing, calculation discipline, the practical component — does not depend on where the school has reached. The most expensive window is February to May, when every Year 11 family in the emirate wants the same weekday evening slot. Identical work, bought six months apart, costs different amounts and delivers different value.

Is it worth paying more for a tutor who has taught the 0652 paper structure before?+

Yes, and it is the one premium on this syllabus that reliably earns itself back. 0652 is a smaller entry in Dubai than coordinated or separate sciences, so plenty of science tutors have never taught its exact paper structure and will substitute general chemistry and physics teaching instead. That costs you hours rather than quality. The question that detects it: which of the two sciences have you taught more recently at IGCSE, and to which tier? A tutor who answers specifically, and asks for the statement of entry, is worth a higher rate and fewer sessions.

Can two siblings share a 0652 session to halve the cost?+

Most providers in this market price per student rather than per session, so a shared slot reduces the total without halving it. It works where both children are on the same syllabus, at the same tier, and need the same block; it works badly where they are at Core and Extended respectively, because a session pitched between the two tiers serves neither. Ask what the per-student figure is for a shared slot, then compare it honestly against two shorter individual sessions.

Is a crash course before the exams worth the money for 0652?+

Only if the content is already broadly secure and the problem is timing, question order or technique. In that situation an intensive genuinely converts into marks. If whole topics are missing, an intensive is the most expensive way to discover that, because there is no time to teach them properly and the student spends the weeks before the papers feeling further behind. A diagnostic session before booking one is the cheapest insurance available against a four-figure mistake.

What costs sit outside the tutoring bill in a 0652 year?+

Exam entry, which the school bills or a registered centre charges for a private candidate; late-entry surcharges where a deadline is missed; remarks and enquiries about results, charged by the centre through the school; and small recurring material costs, mostly printing timed papers plus a calculator, ruler and protractor the student is familiar with. The largest uninvoiced cost is planning: a spring intensive bought because an autumn block was skipped, or a term of general tutoring bought because nobody read a marked script first.

Is online 0652 tutoring genuinely cheaper than a tutor who travels?+

On published market bands, yes: the online qualified-tutor band runs AED 150 to 300 an hour against AED 180 to 500 for a visit, and the gap is mostly the drive. The larger saving is not in dirhams. Removing the travel constraint means choosing a tutor who holds both chemistry and physics at IGCSE depth rather than whoever covers science within a weekday drive of your community, and on a smaller entry like 0652 that difference in matching is worth more than the rate difference.

Do I need to pay for a tutor at all if my child has school science support?+

Sometimes not, and a diagnostic session should tell you. School intervention sessions are already inside the fees you pay, come with laboratory access that matters for the hands-on practical paper, and are run by the teacher who sets the internal assessments. Where a student has secure content, reasonable timing and no practical preparation, the correct purchase is four weeks of timed papers marked properly, not a weekly tutor. Paid tutoring earns its money where something has to be diagnosed and taught.

What happens to the fee if we stop after two 0652 sessions?+

Ask before you start, because cancellation terms vary widely across this market and the differences are material. A reasonable arrangement has a stated notice period, no long tie-in, and no charge for sessions not yet taken. What to avoid is a package that commits several months at once without a clear exit, particularly where the sessions are being bought before a diagnostic has established what the plan should be. Get the terms in the same written message as the rate.

Ask for an estimate of hours, not a rate

The single most useful question to put to any Cambridge IGCSE Physical Science 0652 tutor in Dubai is how many sessions this specific problem needs and what should look different afterwards. A provider who will estimate it, revise the estimate in front of you, and show you marked work along the way is selling something you can check. A provider who answers only with an hourly figure is asking you to budget blind. Send the statement of entry and a marked script, and the diagnostic session will put a number of sessions against each weak block. Lessons run one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time.
