Cambridge IGCSE Physical Science 0652 Online Tutor in Dubai

The same Cambridge IGCSE Physical Science 0652 online tutor in Dubai can cost AED 150 or AED 400 an hour depending on which channel you book through, and the difference is mostly margin rather than teaching. This page takes the online rate apart: who takes a cut, why some platforms quote dollars to dirham households, what a mismatched tutor costs in weeks, and what AED 45 an hour actually buys. Lessons are one-to-one over live video, in Gulf Standard Time.

  • Rate bands broken down by booking channel, not by brand
  • Dollar pricing and card costs counted as part of the price
  • Replacement and coverage questions answered before you book
  • Tutor location disclosed up front where it is outside the UAE

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

Taking the online rate apart

An online tutoring rate in Dubai is not a single thing. It is a teaching fee with several other charges stacked on top, and which charges apply depends entirely on how you booked. Book an independent tutor directly and you pay close to the teaching fee. Book the same person through an international marketplace and you pay their fee plus a platform margin, often in a currency you do not hold. Book through an agency and you pay the fee plus a matching and management margin. Book a monthly package from a centre and you pay a fee averaged across a group. The teaching in those four cases can be identical.

That is the useful way to think about cost for Cambridge IGCSE Physical Science 0652, because it is a single-award qualification covering chemistry and physics that needs one tutor holding both at IGCSE depth. The scarce thing is the person. Everything else in the price is distribution. A parent who understands which part of the number is distribution can ask better questions and usually pays less for the same hour.

The bands, for reference, read from published UAE rate cards and Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table in October 2026: budget online tutoring AED 45 to 150 an hour, qualified subject tutor online AED 150 to 300, IGCSE and A Level specialist AED 200 to 450 and above, premium named tutors AED 500 to 650 and above. Those are market figures rather than IB Gram prices. What this page adds is the layer underneath them: what the spread is made of, and which parts of it you are choosing to buy.

Two things deserve naming early because they cost real money and rarely appear in a comparison. The first is currency. Several international platforms serving Gulf families quote in dollars, and a dirham household paying a dollar invoice absorbs a conversion and often a card charge on every session, which turns a quoted rate into an actual rate roughly two to four per cent higher. The second is mismatch. A tutor who turns out to be a physics teacher covering the chemistry adequately costs you three or four weeks before anybody admits it, and three or four weeks in Year 11 is worth more than any rate difference.

On delivery, plainly: lessons are one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. Home visits in the UAE are not a service IB Gram sells and no tutor is sent to a UAE address; in-home tutoring is something we offer only in India. For 0652 specifically the online format is also the better match, because the pool of tutors holding both sciences at IGCSE depth is a national pool rather than a drive-time one.

At a glance

  • Most of the online rate spread is distribution, not teaching quality
  • Dollar invoices cost a dirham household two to four per cent extra
  • A mismatch costs weeks, which in Year 11 beats any rate saving
  • 0652 needs chemistry and physics in the same tutor
  • Tutor location and replacement terms disclosed before booking
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

What online support should cost varies by stage, because the thing being bought changes. These are the four stages at which Dubai families book online science tutoring and what the sensible spend looks like at each.

Y9Ages 13-14 · Year 9

Year 9: skills, bought cheaply

Short blocks on calculation fluency, graph work and practical write-ups, bought at the lower end of any band because nothing is urgent and capacity is wide. Online is particularly efficient at this stage: screen-shared graph work with live annotation is as good as paper and produces a saved record of every attempt.

In Dubai the science route and tier are generally fixed in the spring term of Year 9, so a small autumn spend here is the only point in the pathway where modest money can change which qualification a child ends up sitting. Most families spend nothing here and a great deal two years later.

Y10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

Year 10: the cheapest hour of the pathway

Content is being taught at school, so tutoring is keeping pace rather than rescuing. Fortnightly sessions with marked work in between are usually enough, which means Year 10 is where the lowest total spend produces the most durable effect across both halves of 0652.

KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in every Dubai private school alongside the licensed curriculum, with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. Year 10 evenings are therefore shorter than they look, and short marked tasks beat long sessions nobody has prepared for.

Y11Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Year 11: where the channel choice matters most

Demand peaks, margins rise, and the gap between booking directly and booking through a platform is at its widest. This is also the year a mismatch is most expensive, so replacement terms matter more than the headline rate.

Weekday evening slots between 5pm and 8pm Gulf Standard Time are the most contested hours in the Dubai tutoring week. Families who can use a Friday morning, a weekend slot or an early evening before 5pm consistently get better matches at lower rates, because they are shopping in a less crowded part of the market.

POST16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

After 0652: what the grade is for

A Level or IB Diploma sciences, and a Ministry of Education equivalency file if the student intends to apply to a UAE university. Both set a ceiling on sensible spending: the grade needs to be good enough for the next step, and spending beyond that threshold buys nothing.

For the British track, Ministry of Education equivalency requires five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic Education excluded from that count, plus an Advanced Level or Advanced Subsidiary Level component. Verify the current requirements on moe.gov.ae; no tutoring provider performs or guarantees equivalency.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Online delivery suits some 0652 work better than others. Each block below is paired with how it is actually taught on screen and what, if anything, you need on your side of the camera.

Units, prefixes and standard form

Underpins the whole award

Pure screen work. Conversion drills on a shared whiteboard with immediate correction, which is faster than paper because errors are caught in the moment. Nothing needed beyond the device. The cheapest block to buy and the one that lifts both halves of the award at once.

Mole and reacting-mass working

Extended emphasis

Taught as four written lines, which means the student writes on paper and shows it to the camera or photographs it afterwards. A cheap document stand or a phone propped on a book solves this entirely and is the only equipment this syllabus genuinely benefits from.

Balanced equations and formulae

Core and Extended

Shared whiteboard work with the student typing or writing and the tutor annotating. Online has a real advantage here: every attempt stays visible on the board, so patterns in the errors are obvious to the student rather than only to the tutor.

Electrolysis and electrode reasoning

Core and Extended

Diagram-led and well suited to a screen, with the cell drawn once and then varied repeatedly to test whether the rule has been learned rather than one example memorised. Varying a diagram live is quicker on a board than on paper.

Rate graphs and reaction conditions

Core and Extended

Graph interpretation taught by annotating the figure on screen before any answer is written. The annotate-first habit is easier to enforce online, because the tutor can see exactly whether the student marked the plateau before writing.

Acids, salts and preparation methods

Core and Extended

Sequence work: filtration, evaporation, crystallisation in the correct order. Taught as a written template and then tested on variations. No apparatus required, since the questions themselves are written rather than practical.

Motion graphs, gradients and areas

Core and Extended

Best done on printed grids, so this is the block where printing earns its small cost. The student plots on paper, photographs it, and the tutor marks the plotting itself rather than only the answer, which is where the marks are.

Forces, moments and pivot diagrams

Core and Extended

Diagram discipline taught by having the student draw first and the tutor annotate second. The distances-from-the-pivot error is visible immediately on a shared screen, which is harder to spot when looking across a table at an upside-down page.

Ray diagrams and the normal

Core and Extended

Needs a ruler and a protractor on the student's side, and printed templates help. The scoring behaviour is drawing the normal and labelling angles to it, and online marking of a photographed diagram catches the omission reliably.

Circuits and electrical calculation

Core and Extended

The highest-value physics block and well suited to screen teaching, because circuits can be redrawn and varied in seconds. The sketch-first rule is enforceable online: the tutor simply does not proceed until a circuit appears.

Thermal physics and particle explanations

Core and Extended

Language precision work, taught conversationally and tested in writing. Explanations referring to particle spacing and energy score; explanations describing heat moving do not. No equipment needed at all.

Half-life and radiation types

Core and Extended

Systematic halving on a shared board, plus comparison tables for alpha, beta and gamma properties. Short, cheap and frequently skipped, which makes it a reliable source of marks for a student whose budget has run out for larger blocks.

Practical method evaluation

Both tiers, both practical papers

Written work rather than bench work, so it transfers to a screen without loss. Taught as a three-slot template: name the uncontrolled variable or inadequate measurement, say why it matters, say what would improve it. Bench skills for the laboratory test stay with the school.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three online formats with different cost structures. All are one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time unless stated otherwise, with written work returned marked between sessions.

Direct one-to-one, booked without a platform margin

The format this page recommends and the one with the fewest charges stacked on the teaching. A named tutor, a fixed weekly slot, marked work in between, and a rate quoted in dirhams. What you are paying for is the hour and the marking, plus matching and replacement if the fit is wrong.

  • Rate quoted in AED, inclusive position stated in writing
  • Named tutor, not a rotating roster
  • Replacement arranged if the fit is wrong, without restarting
  • Marked timed set returned between sessions

Short online block on one named weakness

Four to six sessions on a single target: units and calculation discipline, circuits, the mole, or practical method evaluation. The lowest total spend that reliably moves marks on 0652, because the targets are narrow and the evidence appears quickly on marked work.

  • One target agreed before the first paid session
  • Ends on a date, with no automatic renewal
  • Best bought in summer or early autumn
  • Needs a marked script first or the target is a guess

Paired sibling or two-student session

Two students on the same syllabus and the same tier, sharing a longer slot. Priced per student rather than per session in this market, so it reduces the total without halving it, and it only works where both need the same block. At different tiers it serves neither well.

  • Same syllabus and same tier, or it does not work
  • Longer slot, usually 90 minutes rather than 60
  • Per-student pricing, so ask for both figures
  • Marked work still individual, not shared

01

Why the same online tutor costs three different amounts

The teaching fee is the part of an online rate that pays the person doing the work. Everything else is distribution, and distribution is where the spread between AED 150 and AED 400 an hour mostly comes from on a 0652 booking. Understanding the channel you are buying through is more useful than comparing headline numbers, because two channels can deliver the same tutor at very different prices.

A freelance tutor booked directly carries no margin, which sounds ideal and comes with the fewest protections: no replacement if the fit is wrong, no cover for a cancelled week, and no second opinion if the plan is not working. An international marketplace carries a platform margin and frequently prices in dollars, which adds conversion and card costs to a dirham household on every invoice. An agency carries a matching and management margin and in exchange takes responsibility for the match, which is worth something precisely in the situation where the first tutor is wrong. A tuition centre spreads a fee across a group, which is cheapest per contact hour and least suited to a student with one specific weak block.

For 0652 the channel question has extra weight because the scarce input is a tutor holding both chemistry and physics at IGCSE depth. A channel with a large pool can match on that combination. A channel with a small pool substitutes a physics specialist who will cover chemistry adequately, and you will not discover this for three or four weeks. That substitution is the single most expensive thing that happens in online science tutoring, and no rate card shows it.

The table below sets the channels side by side on the terms that actually differ. Fill in the last two columns for any provider you are considering, including us, and the comparison usually resolves itself.

Currency is part of the price

  • A dollar invoice adds conversion and card costs to every session
  • The conversion path shows where a provider actually operates
  • Ask in writing whether an AED figure is VAT inclusive
  • IB Gram has no UAE premises, and says so rather than implying otherwise

A dirham household paying a dollar invoice does not pay the quoted rate. It pays the quoted rate plus a conversion spread and, usually, a foreign-currency card charge. Across a year of weekly sessions that is a few hundred dirhams nobody budgeted, and it is invisible in every comparison table except this one. The research behind these pages found international platforms serving Gulf families quoting USD tiers with no dirham figure anywhere on the page, which is a currency a UAE parent does not transact in.

There is a related signal worth reading. Some providers ranking for UAE searches route parents to non-UAE phone or messaging numbers, and at least one shows a Dubai footer address on a page targeting Abu Dhabi. Neither is illegal and both tell you something about who you are dealing with: the conversion path is the clearest available evidence of where a business actually operates. A UAE page with a dirham rate, a UAE contact route and an honest statement about where tutors are based is giving you more information than one with a dollar tier and a foreign number.

On VAT, this page states nothing about how UAE VAT applies to tuition fees, because that is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority's own guidance rather than something a tutoring site should interpret for you. The practical step is the same with every provider: ask whether a quoted AED figure is inclusive or exclusive, ask for a tax registration number if they hold one, and get both answers in writing before a package is paid for. Monthly packages are where this becomes a problem rather than a detail.

And on IB Gram's own position, stated rather than implied: there is no UAE office, centre or branch. Tuition is delivered online, the rate is quoted in dirhams, and where the right tutor for a niche combination is based outside the UAE you are told before you book rather than after. That disclosure is the thing several providers in this market avoid making, which is precisely why it belongs on the page.

03

What a mismatch costs, and what to ask about replacement

The most expensive event in a tutoring year is not an overpriced hour. It is four weeks with the wrong tutor. On 0652 the common version is a physics teacher covering the chemistry at a level that looks fine from outside the session and produces no movement in the chemistry marks. Nobody is behaving badly; the tutor is teaching what they know, and the parent has no way to see the gap because the sessions are calm and the student is agreeable.

Four weeks in Year 11 is worth more than any plausible rate saving. A weekly slot at the mid-market band is a four-figure sum, and the real cost is the term it occupied. This is why replacement terms belong in the first conversation rather than the complaint that follows. A channel that takes responsibility for the match is worth its margin exactly here, and a channel that offers a credit rather than a replacement is offering you your money back and not your term.

Three questions detect a likely mismatch before it happens. Which of the two sciences in 0652 have you taught more recently at IGCSE, and to which tier? What was the last practical paper you prepared a student for, Paper 5 or Paper 6? And what marked work will come back after the first session? A tutor who answers the first two specifically has taught the syllabus. A tutor who answers generally about science teaching has not, whatever their qualifications.

Two more questions worth asking of any online provider: who exactly is teaching, and will it be the same person each week? Rotating rosters are cheaper to staff and poor for a student who needs continuity across two sciences. And what happens if the tutor cancels? A plan with no cover arrangement loses a week each time, which over a term is a block of sessions you paid for in time rather than money.

QUESTIONS THAT PREVENT A FOUR-WEEK MISTAKE

04

What AED 45 an hour actually buys

The bottom of the published online band is real and it is not a scam. Rate cards in this market advertise online tutoring from around AED 45 to 65 an hour, and some platforms list from around AED 33. Understanding what sits at that price point is more useful than dismissing it, because for some situations it is the correct purchase.

At that rate you are generally buying a university student or a recent graduate, teaching from their own memory of the subject rather than from the current syllabus, with no marked written work and no diagnostic. For supervised homework, for keeping a Year 9 student moving, or for conversational reinforcement of content already taught properly at school, that can be perfectly adequate and the price is honest. What it will not do is diagnose why an Extended-tier candidate is losing method marks on mole calculations, because diagnosing that requires knowing the mark scheme rather than the chemistry.

The failure mode is predictable and expensive in a different way. A family buys twenty sessions at the low band through Year 11, sees no mark movement, and concludes tutoring does not work. The money spent is modest; the year is gone. Where a student has a specific diagnosed weakness in an exam year, six sessions at the specialist band will usually do more than twenty-four at the budget band, and the total is similar.

There is also a permit point that sits underneath the cheapest end of this market. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and university students and school students aged 15 to 18 are among those eligible to apply. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule has been published, so no amount should be quoted to you. Because the permit costs nothing, not holding one is a choice rather than a hardship, and asking about it is a fair question at any price point.

05

The equipment budget, honestly

  • A way to show handwritten working is the one essential item
  • Print graph grids; plotting on paper is the examinable skill
  • A familiar calculator, a ruler and a protractor
  • A fixed room and a fixed hour beats any hardware

Online tutoring has a small setup cost that nobody mentions because it is unglamorous, and ignoring it is the reason some families get less from sessions than they should. For 0652 the list is short and specific.

A device with a working camera and a stable connection, which almost every household in Dubai already has. A way to show handwritten work: a phone propped on a book, a cheap document stand, or simply photographing the page and sending it. This is the one that matters most, because the marks on this syllabus live in written working — four-line mole calculations, plotted graphs, labelled diagrams — and a session where the tutor never sees the student's handwriting is a session spent on talking rather than on marks.

A printer, or access to one, for graph grids and ray-diagram templates. Plotting on screen is possible and worse: the examinable skill is plotting accurately on paper under time pressure, and it should be practised in that medium. Printing is also the recurring cost on this list, small per week and real across a year. Add a scientific calculator the student is genuinely familiar with, a ruler and a protractor. That is the whole list.

A headset is optional and helps in an apartment with siblings. What helps more than any hardware is a fixed place and a fixed time. The single best predictor of whether an online plan finishes is whether the student sits in the same room at the same hour each week, which costs nothing and is the thing most often not arranged.

06

Coverage and fallback, stated before you book

Availability is a cost, and it is the one no competitor in this market discloses. A 0652 entry needs a tutor holding chemistry and physics at IGCSE depth, in a weekday evening slot in Gulf Standard Time, which is the most contested hour of the week in Dubai. Sometimes that person is not free. What happens next is where providers differ most and say least.

The dishonest version is a quiet substitution: you are matched with whoever is available, the sessions begin, and the mismatch becomes your problem to notice. A variation found in the research behind these pages is concealment of delivery location, where a UAE family is routed to a tutor elsewhere through a foreign phone number with nothing stated on the page. Neither is illegal and both cost a family weeks.

The honest version is a disclosed fallback. Where no UAE-based specialist is free for the combination and time you need, the alternative offered is an experienced IGCSE science tutor working from India to Gulf Standard Time, stated before you book, with the rate and the tutor's background given at the same time. You may decline it. What you should not have to do is discover it.

The table below is the coverage disclosure for this syllabus. It exists because a parent deciding between providers deserves to know where the limits are, and because a provider that publishes its limits is making a checkable claim rather than an advertising one.

Spending that stops being useful

Every tutoring budget has a point past which more money buys nothing, and knowing where it sits is the difference between a plan and a subscription. For 0652 the ceiling is set by what the grade is for.

If the next step is A Level or IB Diploma science, the threshold is the sixth form's entry requirement, usually expressed as a grade in a science qualification and sometimes as a preference for separate sciences. Spending to exceed that threshold comfortably is reasonable; spending to chase the top of the grade range when the requirement is already met is not, and the hours are usually better spent on another subject that is nearer the line.

If the next step is a UAE university, Ministry of Education equivalency becomes relevant and it changes the arithmetic, because equivalency counts subjects rather than ranking them. For the British track the requirement is five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic Education excluded from that count, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at E or above or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade. For the American track, English proficiency is evidenced by a score of 5 in IELTS academic, 61 in TOEFL iBT or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics by at least 450 in SAT Math. No IB points threshold is published in the source used here, so none appears on this page; verify any figure on moe.gov.ae before relying on it.

Two cautions follow from that. Equivalency is handled by the Ministry and the relevant attestation authority, not by any tutoring provider, and nobody in this market performs or guarantees it. And tutoring is not a requirement for equivalency, university admission or school progression; any provider implying otherwise is manufacturing urgency about a regulatory process.

Who regulates what, and why it affects your quote

Regulation shows up in a tutoring price in two ways: through the permit a tutor must hold, and through the licensing a provider with premises must hold. Neither is decoration, and both are routinely misrepresented in this market.

On the tutor side, the MoHRE private tuition work permit applies to individuals giving private lessons. It is free of charge for two years, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system, and MoHRE's own service page lists a two-working-day completion time. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students. Because it costs nothing, a tutor without one has made a choice, and the question is reasonable to ask at any rate.

On the provider side, a tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum six-month window to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. That is an entirely different instrument from anything that applies to an online one-to-one service, and it is the source of the most dangerous phrase available to pages like this one. Nobody providing private tutoring holds regulator approval for tutoring; IB Gram holds no KHDA permit and operates no UAE premises.

The wider map matters because Dubai families move emirates. Dubai private schools are overseen by KHDA; Abu Dhabi and Al Ain by ADEK, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate; Sharjah by the Sharjah Private Education Authority; Ras Al Khaimah by its Department of Knowledge; and schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education. Sharjah's and Ras Al Khaimah's authorities also approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, which is a broader remit than inspection alone. A tutoring plan that follows a family across emirates should know which authority is now involved.

09

What a sensible online 0652 plan looks like on paper

  • Diagnose from a marked script before buying hours
  • Target one or two blocks, not the whole award
  • Make the plan finite and tie the review to a real date
  • One marked artefact a week, against the published scheme
  • Get the limits in writing: who, where, what if, VAT

Pulling the cost thinking together into something a parent can act on. A sensible plan for an online 0652 engagement in Dubai has five properties, and none of them concern the hourly rate.

It starts from a marked script, so the target is diagnosed rather than assumed. It names one or two blocks rather than the award, because the quantitative spine is where the hours convert into marks. It is finite, with a stated number of sessions and a review date tied to a real event such as the November mock. It produces one marked artefact a week against the published mark scheme, so progress is a comparison rather than an impression. And it states its limits in writing: who is teaching, where they are based, what happens if the fit is wrong, and whether the quoted figure is inclusive of VAT.

Cost-wise, that plan is usually cheaper than what families actually buy, which tends to be a standing weekly slot from September to June at a mid-market rate with no stated target. The standing slot is comfortable and it is where most of the avoidable spending in this market lives. A diagnostic session, a six-session block on calculation discipline, a four-session block on circuits and a short practical-skills block will cost less than half a year of weekly sessions and will usually move more marks, because each piece has a target and an end.

If the honest answer after a diagnostic is that no paid tutoring is needed this term, that is what you should hear. A student with secure content, reasonable timing and no practical preparation needs four weeks of timed papers marked properly, and the papers come from school. Saying so costs a provider a sale and is the only basis on which the rest of the page means anything.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Online tutoring has its own geography, and it is about where a child can actually work rather than how far a car must drive. These notes are about study space, connectivity and the travel patterns that decide whether a weekly slot survives the year.

Bluewaters Island and Dubai Harbour

Apartment living with limited quiet study space, so sessions work best when a specific room and time are fixed rather than improvised. Families here travel frequently in term breaks, which an online slot can follow and an in-home arrangement cannot.

Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City

Strong connectivity and parents often working from home, which helps with the marked-work habit because somebody is there to see the timed set actually get done. Sessions commonly sit early evening rather than late.

Al Mizhar and Al Twar

Villa communities with space for a dedicated desk and a printer, which matters for the graph-plotting and ray-diagram blocks. Printing on paper and photographing the work is the pattern that produces the best marking here.

Jumeirah Village Triangle

Mixed villa and townhouse community with large family sizes and frequent sibling competition for quiet space. Shorter, more frequent sessions often work better here than one long weekly slot.

Remraam and Dubailand

Outlying communities where in-home tutoring supply is thin and expensive, so online is usually the only format that offers a genuine choice of tutor rather than a choice of one.

Living Legends and Damac Hills

Self-contained communities with good internet and long school runs. The hour saved by not having a tutor drive out is usually reinvested directly into the session length.

City Walk and Jumeirah 1

Central apartment living with high-fee school access and families used to premium pricing. The useful saving here is channel rather than rate: booking directly rather than through a platform margin.

The Lakes and The Meadows

Established villa communities with settled routines and reliable weekly slots, which is the single biggest predictor of whether a tutoring plan completes. Consistency matters more to outcomes here than anything on the rate card.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Dubai Marina, Internet City and Barsha Heights

Schools serving an internationally mobile parent population, where mid-year arrivals and departures are routine. A student arriving from another system mid-Year 10 needs a content map before any revision plan, and that mapping session is the most valuable hour of the whole engagement.

  • Emirates International School Meadows
  • Regent International School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • American School of Dubai
  • Dubai International Academy Al Barsha

Dubailand, Remraam and Damac Hills

Newer schools serving outlying communities, where local evening tutor supply is thin for a chemistry-and-physics combination. Families in this cluster get a materially wider choice of tutor by booking online rather than locally, which is a matching gain rather than a price one.

  • GEMS FirstPoint School
  • Fairgreen International School
  • South View School
  • Jebel Ali School
  • The Aquila School

Al Mizhar, Al Twar and Muhaisnah

Established schools with large science cohorts and set-based teaching. Marked timed work carries weight here in any conversation about set or tier, and villa study space makes the print-and-photograph marking pattern straightforward.

  • GEMS Our Own English High School
  • Al Mawakeb School Al Barsha
  • The Westminster School Dubai
  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • Star International School Mirdif

Schools appear here only to describe the local education environment. IB Gram claims no affiliation, partnership, client relationship or endorsement from any school, group or education authority named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the code, the tier and the slot you need

0652 covers chemistry and physics, so the match is on both. The statement of entry gives the tier and the practical paper number, and the slot you need in Gulf Standard Time determines availability more than anything else. Weekday evenings between 5pm and 8pm are the most contested hours of the week.

  2. 02

    Diagnostic session at no charge

One per student, no card details taken. It works from a marked script where you have one, identifies which blocks are weak and why, and produces an estimate of sessions per block. Where school support plus marked past papers is the right answer, that is what you are told.

  3. 03

See the terms before the rate matters

Who is teaching, where they are based, whether the same tutor teaches each week, what happens if the fit is wrong in week three, what marked work returns, and whether the AED figure is VAT inclusive. All in writing, because these are the terms that cost or save you weeks.

  4. 04

    Run a finite block

A named number of sessions against a named target, with a timed set each week marked against the published Cambridge mark scheme and the marks attributed point by point. The review is tied to a real date, usually the November mock, rather than left open.

  5. 05

    Decide at the review

Compare the marked scripts against the baseline, category by category. Stop, change approach, or buy a new block with a new target. Blocks that end force a judgement; arrangements that renew quietly do not, and that is where most of the wasted money in this market goes.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The rate is explained, not just quoted

You are told which part of a figure is teaching and which is distribution, and every market band on the page carries its source and its date. That is there so you can argue with a quote, including ours.

Dirhams, and the VAT question answered

Rates are quoted in AED rather than in a currency you then convert, and you get a written answer on whether a figure is inclusive. No dollar tiers, no foreign conversion path, no non-UAE number as the way to reach us.

Both sciences in the same tutor

0652 needs chemistry and physics at IGCSE depth in one person, and online matching is what makes that possible. If you ask which of the two a tutor has taught more recently, you get a specific answer.

Replacement before complaint

The terms for a wrong match are agreed before the first session, and a replacement means continuing the plan with a different tutor rather than a credit and a restart. Four weeks with the wrong tutor costs more than any rate difference.

Coverage limits published

Where no UAE-based specialist is free for your combination and time, you are told before booking and offered a disclosed India-based alternative working to Gulf Standard Time. You can decline it; you should not have to discover it.

No claims that cannot be checked

No regulator or board approval for tutoring, no grade promises, no self-asserted ratings, no statistics without a source, no Cambridge material distributed by us. IB Gram operates no UAE premises and the page says so.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

Why do online 0652 quotes in Dubai vary so much for the same qualification?+

Because most of the spread is distribution rather than teaching. A freelance tutor booked directly carries no margin and no protections. An agency or platform carries a matching and management margin and takes responsibility for the match. An international marketplace carries a platform margin and often prices in dollars. A centre spreads a fee across a group. The same tutor can appear at very different prices through two of those channels, which is why asking what the margin buys is more useful than comparing headline numbers.

Does paying a tutoring invoice in dollars cost a Dubai family more?+

Yes, and it rarely appears in a comparison. A dirham household paying a dollar invoice absorbs a conversion spread and usually a foreign-currency card charge on every session, which turns a quoted rate into an actual rate a few per cent higher. Across a year of weekly sessions that is a few hundred dirhams nobody planned for. Several international platforms serving Gulf families quote USD tiers with no dirham figure anywhere, which is a currency UAE parents do not transact in.

What does an online science tutor at the bottom of the Dubai market provide?+

Advertised rates from around AED 45 to 65 an hour generally buy a university student or recent graduate teaching from their own memory of the subject, without a diagnostic and without marked written work. For supervised homework or for keeping a Year 9 student moving, that is adequate and honestly priced. It will not identify why an Extended-tier candidate is losing method marks on mole calculations, because that requires knowing the mark scheme rather than the chemistry.

How do I avoid being matched with a physics tutor for a 0652 entry?+

Ask two questions before booking. Which of chemistry and physics have you taught more recently at IGCSE, and to which tier? And for your last 0652 student, was it Paper 5 or Paper 6? A tutor who answers both specifically has taught the syllabus; a tutor who answers generally about science teaching has not, whatever the qualifications say. The substitution is not dishonest, it is just what happens when a channel's pool is too small, and it costs three or four weeks before anyone notices.

What should a provider do if the tutor is the wrong fit in week three?+

Replace the tutor and continue the plan, rather than issue a credit and start again. The distinction matters because the real loss in a mismatch is time, not money: four weeks in Year 11 is worth more than any rate saving. Agree the terms before the first session, including whether the same tutor teaches every week and what cover exists if they cancel. A plan with no cover arrangement quietly loses a week each time, which across a term is a block of sessions.

Do I need to buy equipment for online 0652 lessons?+

Very little, but one item matters. The student needs a way to show handwritten work: a phone propped on a book, a cheap document stand, or photographing the page and sending it. The marks on this syllabus live in written working, so a session where the tutor never sees the handwriting is spent on talking rather than on marks. Beyond that: printed graph grids, a familiar scientific calculator, a ruler and a protractor. A fixed room at a fixed hour helps more than any hardware.

Is screen-based graph work good enough for the 0652 practical questions?+

Plot on paper, not on screen. The examinable skill is accurate plotting on a printed grid under time pressure, with sensible scales and a best-fit line through the trend, so it should be practised in that medium. The pattern that works online is print, plot, photograph, submit, and the tutor marks the plotting itself rather than only the final answer. Printing is the one small recurring cost of online science tutoring and it is worth paying.

Which time slots are cheapest and easiest to book in Dubai?+

Anything that is not a weekday evening between 5pm and 8pm Gulf Standard Time, which is the most contested block in the week. Weekday afternoons before 5pm, Friday mornings and weekend slots are easier to fill and usually produce a better match, because you are shopping in a less crowded part of the market. Families who can move a session out of the evening peak routinely get a more experienced tutor for the same money, which is the simplest saving available on this page.

What happens if no UAE-based 0652 tutor is free when we need lessons?+

You are told before booking. 0652 needs chemistry and physics at IGCSE depth in one tutor, and the evening peak in Gulf Standard Time is the hardest slot to fill. Where no UAE-based specialist is available, the alternative offered is an experienced IGCSE science tutor working from India to your time zone, with the rate and background stated at the same time. You can decline it. Quiet substitution and concealed delivery location are practices this market has, and disclosure is the alternative.

Does an online 0652 tutor need the MoHRE private tuition permit?+

The permit applies to individuals giving private lessons and was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system, with MoHRE's own service page listing a two-working-day completion time. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule has been published.

Does KHDA licensing apply to an online tutoring provider?+

A KHDA Educational Services Permit is issued to training institutes with premises and staff in Dubai: initial approval first, a maximum six-month window to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. It is a different instrument from anything that applies to an online one-to-one service, and nobody providing private tutoring holds regulator approval for tutoring itself. IB Gram holds no such permit and operates no UAE premises, which is why delivery is online and why this page states it rather than implying otherwise.

How many IGCSE subjects does UAE Ministry of Education equivalency count?+

For the British track, five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education not included among the five, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. One ranking competitor publishes a six-subject figure, which is wrong. Verify the current requirements on moe.gov.ae, and note that equivalency is handled by the Ministry rather than by any tutoring provider.

Is tutoring required for a UAE university application after 0652?+

No. Equivalency and admission are regulatory and institutional processes, and no tutoring is required for either. Any provider implying otherwise is manufacturing urgency about something it does not control. What tutoring can do is help a student reach the grade a particular sixth form or university programme asks for, and that threshold is the sensible ceiling on spending. Past the threshold, hours are usually better spent on whichever subject is nearest the line.

Which emirate authority oversees my child's school if we move from Dubai?+

Dubai private schools are overseen by KHDA. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain fall under ADEK, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. Sharjah has the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Ras Al Khaimah its Department of Knowledge, both of which also approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education. A tutoring plan following a family across emirates should know which authority now applies.

What would make you tell us not to buy 0652 tutoring at all?+

A marked script showing secure content, reasonable timing and no practical preparation. That student needs four weeks of timed papers marked properly against the published mark scheme, and the papers come from their school. Paid tutoring earns its money where something has to be diagnosed and taught, and a diagnostic session exists partly to establish which of those situations you are in. Hearing it costs a provider a sale, which is the only reason the rest of this page is worth anything.

Ask what the margin buys

The most useful question to ask any Cambridge IGCSE Physical Science 0652 online tutor in Dubai is not the rate. It is what sits on top of the teaching fee, and what that part buys you: matching on both sciences, a replacement if week three goes wrong, marked work against the published scheme, and a figure quoted in dirhams with the VAT position stated. Send the statement of entry and a marked script, say which slot you need in Gulf Standard Time, and the diagnostic session will put a number of sessions against each weak block before any money changes hands.
