IB Diploma Tutor in Ajman

Hiring an IB diploma tutor in Ajman is a decision about points, not about hours. Forty-five points exist, a sizeable share of them is already banked in internally assessed work before any paper is sat, and the rest is decided by how a small number of question types are answered. This page audits that arithmetic: what is already fixed, what is still movable, what a predicted grade is actually built from, and what the evidence file should contain by January of the final year.

IB & IGCSE in Ajman

Audit the points before buying the hours

Most Diploma enquiries from the northern emirates arrive in one of two states. Either a parent has seen a report with a grade 3 or 4 in a Higher Level subject and wants it fixed, or a student is eight weeks from the exam window and wants everything fixed. Both are treatable, but neither can be planned until somebody writes down where the points currently stand, and that is an audit rather than a conversation.

The audit is simple arithmetic with uncomfortable answers. Six subjects graded one to seven supply forty-two points, and the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge together can add up to three more. Inside each subject, a share of the grade is already sitting in internally assessed work that has been written, submitted or is in draft. That share cannot be revised for. It can only be improved before the deadline, or lived with afterwards.

This is why the first useful question is not which topics are weak but which points are still in play. A student with an unsubmitted exploration and two months before the internal deadline has more recoverable marks available than a student with three weeks to the first paper and everything already uploaded. The two students need entirely different plans, and the second one needs to be told the truth about what is reachable rather than sold an intensive course covering the whole syllabus.

Ajman adds a practical wrinkle that shapes the plan. Diploma candidates living in the emirate are almost always enrolled in schools in Sharjah or Dubai, so their internal deadlines are set by a school regulated by another authority while their study evenings are governed by a commute on the Emirates Road or through the Sharjah crossing. A fixed late slot that survives a bad traffic day is worth more over two years than a better hour that gets cancelled whenever the road does.

The structure of this page follows that audit. It starts with where the forty-five points come from and which of them are already settled, moves to the internally assessed marks banked before any paper is sat, then to what a predicted grade is actually built from and how the evidence behind one can be strengthened. After that come the boundaries on coursework help, the backwards-counted calendar, the market rates in AED by commitment rather than by hour, and the equivalency question a UAE-bound school leaver eventually meets.

Everything below is written on the basis that teaching happens one-to-one over live video. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; that is a service we offer only in India. Market AED figures appear with the provider that published them named, and no IB session or results date is published here, because the IB's own pages cannot be reliably verified in this project and a wrong date on an exam page is worse than no date at all.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three things sit under the Diploma heading and families often use the words interchangeably. The distinction matters because the assessment model, the points and the university consequences are different in each.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme, full diploma

Six subjects, normally three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, graded one to seven. Alongside them run the three core components: the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and creativity, activity, service. The Extended Essay and TOK are graded A to E and combine on a published matrix to award up to three further points, giving the forty-five point maximum.

Ajman full-diploma candidates are generally enrolled across the border in Sharjah or Dubai schools. The practical consequence is that the internal deadline calendar that governs their coursework is set by a school in another emirate, so any session plan has to start from that school's dates rather than from a generic programme timeline.

DP coursesAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme courses taken individually

Students may take Diploma subjects and receive certificates for them without being registered for the full diploma. The subject assessment is identical, including the internally assessed components, but the core points and the overall award conditions do not apply. Universities treat the result differently, so the choice has consequences well beyond the workload.

This route appears in the UAE where a student has moved curriculum late or where a school cannot staff a particular Higher Level subject. For an Ajman family it is worth asking the school directly which registration their child actually holds, since the answer changes what a tutor should prioritise.

CoreAcross both Diploma years

The Extended Essay, TOK and CAS

The Extended Essay is an independent research piece of up to four thousand words supervised in school. Theory of Knowledge is assessed by an essay on a prescribed title and an exhibition. Creativity, activity, service carries no points but must be completed for the diploma to be awarded. Together the essay and TOK contribute up to three points through a published matrix.

The core is where Ajman students most often lose points quietly, because supervision quality varies between schools and the deadlines are internal rather than external. A student who treats the Extended Essay as a background task through Year 12 typically meets it as a crisis in Year 13.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The subjects below are described by where the marks sit and where they are lost, because a Diploma plan has to be built on question types rather than on topic lists. In each case the first session reads the most recent marked paper and the current state of the internal assessment.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Method marks are available throughout the structured questions and are routinely thrown away by working done in rough and never transferred. At Higher Level, proof and the harder calculus questions separate the top grades; the exploration adds a separate risk where correct mathematics scores poorly against the engagement and reflection criteria.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics dominate, and the marks hinge on interpretation written in context. A regression or a confidence interval computed correctly and left without a sentence explaining what it means in the scenario is a partially answered question, and the pattern repeats across the papers.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Written answers lose marks on precision of language rather than on understanding: a rate explanation without a named collision or energy reason, an equilibrium answer without direction of shift. In the internally assessed investigation, uncertainty handling and a genuine evaluation of the method are what separate bands.

Physics

HL and SL

Data analysis and graph questions carry more marks than students expect, and gradient answers without units are a recurring loss. Multi-mark explanation questions need a chain of reasoning; single-sentence answers to four-mark questions are the most avoidable deduction on the papers.

Biology

HL and SL

The volume of content disguises the real issue, which is command-term discipline. Outline, explain, distinguish and evaluate each have a fixed expected depth, and a student who writes at one depth throughout a paper scores unevenly without understanding why.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy is assessable in itself, and an explanation that never refers back to the diagram it drew loses marks a simpler answer would keep. Evaluation is the standard divider between a four and a six, and at Higher Level the quantitative questions reward shown working in the same way the maths papers do.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The examined skill is analysis of how meaning is constructed, not what a text is about. Competent summary essays stay in the middle bands indefinitely; the shift happens when every paragraph is anchored to a specific choice and its effect on a reader.

Business Management

HL and SL

Application to the named organisation in the stimulus is what carries the marks. A correct general explanation of a tool with no reference to the case material is most of a wrong answer, and the same discipline governs the internally assessed research work.

Psychology

HL and SL

Studies have to be used as evidence rather than recited, and the command terms distinguish between describing research and evaluating it. The internally assessed experimental study is where method, ethics and statistical treatment have to be handled properly rather than narrated.

Theory of Knowledge

Core component

Assessed through an essay on a prescribed title and an exhibition. The essay is marked on how well knowledge questions are addressed with sustained argument and real examples; essays that explain concepts without answering the prescribed title lose marks no amount of fluency recovers.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Diploma work is bought, distinguished by what they are trying to protect: a grade in a taught subject, marks inside an internal assessment, or the final few points before the papers. Most students need two of the three across two years, not all three at once.

Weekly one-to-one in a Higher Level subject

A standing sixty or ninety minute session in the subject where the points are most at risk, running through the taught course. Content is sequenced against the school's scheme of work, with past-paper question types attached to each topic so that practice is examined practice rather than revision in general.

  • Same slot weekly in Gulf Standard Time, held through the term
  • Question-type practice marked with the marks available shown
  • Reviewed at eight weeks against the opening diagnostic
  • Usually one Higher Level subject at a time, not three

Internal assessment review blocks

A defined set of sessions timed to the school's own internal deadlines for an exploration, investigation, research project or the Extended Essay. The tutor reads what exists, maps it against the criterion wording and asks questions. The student does the research and the writing and keeps dated drafts.

  • Scheduled backwards from the school's upload or submission date
  • Feedback given by criterion letter and band, with the descriptor quoted
  • Skills taught on examples other than the assessed piece itself
  • No text for the assessed work is supplied by the tutor

Final-stretch paper discipline

A short intensive block in the weeks before the exam window, limited to timed papers and the marking of them. Not content teaching: the aim is question selection, timing, command-term depth and the transfer of working into the answer space, which is where recoverable marks sit at that stage.

  • Full papers under timed conditions between sessions
  • Marked with marks available, marks awarded and the reason
  • Focused on transferable paper technique rather than new content
  • Honest about what is reachable in the time remaining

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ajman

01

Where the forty-five points come from, and which are already decided

The Diploma total is built from two sources. Six subjects graded one to seven supply up to forty-two points. The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge are each graded A to E and combine on a published matrix to award up to three further points. Creativity, activity, service earns no points at all but has to be completed, which catches out students who assume anything unscored is optional.

Beyond the total there are award conditions, and they are the part families most often discover late. The diploma is awarded on a published set of requirements covering the overall total, minimum performance at Higher and Standard Level, and specific failing conditions attached to low grades and to the core components. A student can reach a numerically adequate total and still not be awarded the diploma because of a single grade or an incomplete core element. Any school's IB coordinator can confirm the current conditions in writing, and that is the right place to get them rather than from a tutoring page.

The audit worth doing is a table of the student's own position: each subject, its current working grade, what proportion of that grade is already fixed in submitted internal work, and where the remaining marks sit. Done honestly, it usually shows that two or three subjects hold almost all the movable points, which is the opposite of the instinct to buy tuition in everything.

It also surfaces the core, which is where quiet point losses happen. The Extended Essay and TOK between them are worth as much as the difference between a strong and a mediocre overall score for many students, and they are supervised internally with deadlines the school sets. A family auditing their child's position in January of the final year and finding the essay unsubmitted has found the most valuable thing on the list.

The marks banked before any paper is sat

Every Diploma subject carries internally assessed work, and in most subjects it is a substantial slice of the final grade rather than a formality. The mathematics exploration, the scientific investigation, the business research project, the psychology experimental study, the language oral components: all of these are produced during the course, marked by the school and moderated by the IB. Once the school's deadline passes, those marks are settled.

The exact share varies by subject and changes when a syllabus is revised, so the honest instruction is to read the current subject guide your school is teaching to rather than to trust a number on any tutoring site, including this one. What does not vary is the implication. A student whose internal work is strong walks into the exam room needing less from the papers; a student whose internal work was rushed needs more from the papers than is usually available.

This reframes when tuition is worth buying. Money spent on internal assessment work before the deadline buys marks that are then locked in. The same money spent after the deadline cannot touch them. Families in Ajman frequently book in the final term, when the recoverable territory has shrunk to paper technique alone, and then compare the result against what tuition a year earlier would have reached.

The planning habit that follows is unglamorous and effective. Ask the school, in Year 12, for the internal deadline dates for every subject across both years, and write them on one page. Diploma students carry between six and eight internal deadlines, usually clustered, and the clustering is what breaks students rather than any individual piece of work.

03

What a predicted grade is made of, and how to strengthen one

  • Predictions rest on mocks, classwork, internal assessment quality and trajectory
  • Improve the evidence before predictions are finalised, not afterwards
  • Bring two marked attempts at the same question type to the school conversation
  • No tutor can forecast a grade; a band judgement is a planning tool only

University offers in the Diploma system run on predicted grades, which are produced by the school and sent with the application. They are not a formality and they are not negotiable in the way a parent might hope, but they are evidential: a teacher predicting a grade is drawing on mock results, classwork, internal assessment quality and their own judgement of trajectory.

That gives a family something concrete to work with. The route to a stronger prediction is to improve the evidence the teacher is looking at, in the weeks before predictions are finalised rather than after. A full past paper completed under timed conditions and marked, a reworked internal assessment draft submitted before the deadline, a sustained improvement across three topic tests: these are things a subject teacher can point to. An assertion that the student has started private tuition is not.

The conversation with the school matters as much as the work. A parents' evening where you can show two marked attempts at the same question type, several weeks apart, and ask whether the teacher sees the same trajectory, is a different meeting from one where you report that your child is trying harder. Several families in Ajman have used precisely that to get a prediction revisited before the application deadline.

What no tutor can do is forecast a grade, and anyone who offers to is selling something they cannot deliver. A tutor's judgement against published criteria is a planning tool. The prediction belongs to the school, the final grade belongs to the IB, and a provider blurring that distinction is a warning sign rather than a selling point.

04

The evidence file a Diploma student should hold by January of the final year

  • Working grades by subject, on one page
  • Every remaining internal deadline, with the date the school set
  • A recent full marked paper in each Higher Level subject
  • Dated Extended Essay drafts and the TOK title with progress against it
  • Three or four named question types that consistently lose marks

By the middle of the final year, a Diploma student should be able to produce a small set of documents on request, and most cannot. The file is not bureaucracy. It is the material from which every remaining decision is made, including which subject to prioritise in the last term and whether to approach the school about a prediction.

Six items cover it. A one-page list of current working grades by subject. The internal deadline dates for every remaining component. The most recent full marked paper in each subject taken at Higher Level. The current state of the Extended Essay, with its dated drafts. The TOK essay title and whatever has been written against it. And a short note of the question types that consistently lose marks, which should be three or four specific things rather than a general sense of weakness.

Assembling that file takes an evening and routinely changes the plan. Families discover that the subject they were worried about holds few movable marks while a subject nobody mentioned has an unsubmitted internal assessment worth more. Students discover that what they believed was a content problem is a timing problem visible in three unfinished papers. Neither discovery requires a tutor; both change what a tutor should be asked to do.

It also gives a straightforward basis for judging tuition that is already being paid for. Pick any week from the record and ask what was wrong at the start of that session and what was still wrong at the end. If nothing in the file answers that, the hours were attendance. If the file shows a reworked draft and two improved marked attempts, the money is working and the question is only whether to continue.

05

Academic honesty on the internal assessment, Extended Essay and TOK

  • The student selects the question, does the work and writes every sentence
  • Skills are taught on worked examples other than the assessed piece
  • Feedback is questions and criterion references, never replacement text
  • Dated drafts and an accurate declaration of support protect the student

The line here is not a matter of taste, and the consequence of crossing it falls on the student rather than on the provider. Internal assessment work, the Extended Essay and the TOK essay must be the student's own. The student selects the research question, gathers or generates the data, writes every sentence and keeps dated drafts showing how the piece developed. A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on what already exists.

Useful help has a recognisable shape. Reading the criterion descriptors with the student until they can state what each band requires. Asking what a given paragraph is doing in the argument. Noting that a conclusion restates findings where the criterion asks for evaluation of method. Teaching uncertainty treatment, a statistical test or a citation convention on a worked example that is not the student's own assessed piece. All of that is teaching.

What sits outside is equally recognisable. Supplying sentences. Rewriting a section into final form. Choosing the research question. Carrying out the analysis on the student's behalf. Providers in this market advertise completed internal assessments at published prices; a student who buys one risks the entire diploma, and the risk does not expire when the work is submitted. We decline that work, and we state it on the page rather than only in a terms document.

The protective habit is record-keeping. Keep every draft dated. Keep a note of the support received and from whom. If the school asks the student to declare help, declare it accurately. Schools are generally far more troubled by polished work that appears from nowhere than by a student who can show six weeks of visible development and name the feedback they acted on.

06

Counting backwards from the exam window without inventing dates

Diploma planning is a backwards-counting exercise, and the dates that matter most are set by the school rather than by the IB. Internal assessment deadlines, mock windows, the Extended Essay submission point and the TOK deadlines are all internal. They arrive in clusters, usually in the first half of the final year, and the clustering is what overwhelms students who have planned around the exam window alone.

On IB session and results dates this page deliberately publishes nothing. The IB's own pages could not be verified within this project, and an exam date that turns out to be wrong is worse than no date, so the only sound instruction is to take the session window, the upload deadlines and the results date from your school's IB coordinator or from ibo.org directly, and to write them down once rather than rely on a figure seen online.

What can be said with confidence is the shape. Entries and registrations are handled by the school months ahead. Internal components close well before any paper. Mocks are typically positioned to feed predicted grades, which means the mock result has a second job beyond diagnosis. Results arrive in the summer for the main session, with a defined window afterwards for enquiries about results, and a student considering a retake needs to understand that window before it opens rather than after.

For a comparison, the externally published Cambridge and Pearson calendars show how far ahead this machinery runs in a system where the dates can be checked. Pearson's International GCSE November 2026 timetable runs to 19 November 2026, with the entry lodged through the centre in the autumn term, and its November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026 while June 2026 results reached them on 20 August 2026. Cambridge's UAE candidates sit a June or a November series, and for June the final entry closes in the spring, months before the first paper. The lead times in the Diploma are no shorter.

What Diploma tuition costs for an Ajman family, in AED

Diploma work sits at the top of this market because the specialist pool is narrow. Published figures from identifiable providers put qualified online subject tuition at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, with one provider publishing IB tuition from AED 200, specialist IB and A-Level work at AED 200 to 450 and above, one provider publishing AED 270, and a premium named-tutor rate published at AED 650. In-home visits in this market run roughly AED 180 to 500, with travel inside the price.

Hourly rates are the wrong unit for a Diploma decision, which is why the table below is organised by commitment instead. A year of weekly support in one Higher Level subject, an internal assessment review block timed to a school deadline, and an eight-week paper-discipline intensive are three different purchases with very different totals, and a family comparing them by hourly rate alone will choose badly.

Published monthly estimates give a second reference point. For a single weekly hour, market estimates in this country run roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Package offers seen include about AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits.

None of these is an IB Gram price list. Our quote follows the free trial lesson, because what the audit shows changes the work: a student with one unsubmitted internal assessment and eleven weeks of term left is a different job from a student needing a Higher Level subject taught for a year. Quoting one rate for both would be tidier and less honest.

Online delivery, the in-home market and the permit question

  • In-home visits add a 40 minute to 2 hour round trip from most tutor bases
  • Higher Level subject depth and local availability frequently conflict
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free of charge and valid two years
  • No fine schedule is published, so treat any quoted amount with scepticism

A parent wanting someone in the room for a seventeen-year-old facing a Higher Level paper has a reasonable instinct, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a sales reframe. The advantage is real: presence, fewer distractions, and the ability to see a handwritten working-out as it happens. Against it sits a journey of forty minutes to two hours per session from most tutor bases into Ajman, paid for in the rate, in a later start or in cancellations, plus a tutor pool reduced to whoever is willing to make it.

For a Higher Level subject that reduction is usually decisive. The number of people who can teach Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level to a Diploma standard, and who will drive into Ajman on a Tuesday evening, is small enough that a family may be choosing between availability and expertise. Online delivery removes the journey and widens the pool to a national one. IB Gram does not sell in-home visits anywhere in the UAE, since home visits are a service we offer only in India, so that is a stated limit rather than a quiet one.

Alongside format sits legality, which this market discusses less than it should. Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit: the private tuition work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued through MoHRE and is granted free of charge for two years. The published eligible categories include registered school teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen.

Two consequences worth knowing. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws, and no schedule of amounts is published, so any specific figure quoted to a parent should be treated with scepticism. And Abu Dhabi's professional-ethics rules for school staff have been reported as barring teachers from paid tutoring of students at their own school, which is worth checking before asking a class teacher for private Diploma lessons.

09

What a Diploma is worth in the UAE, and the equivalency question

  • Equivalency is a ministry process; no tutoring provider performs or guarantees it
  • British track: five IGCSE subjects at E or grade 3 or better, plus A-Level or AS evidence
  • Arabic and Islamic education are excluded from that five-subject count
  • No IB points threshold is published here; verify it on the ministry's own channel

Ajman families planning for universities inside the UAE eventually meet the Ministry of Education equivalency process, which exists so that a school-leaving certificate from an international curriculum can be recognised locally. It is a ministry process. No tutoring provider performs it, guarantees it or speeds it up, and anyone implying otherwise is describing something they do not control.

On the British track the published requirements are specific. A student must show five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, and either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five required subjects. One ranking provider publishes a six-subject figure for UAE candidates, which does not match that reported rule.

On the American track, English proficiency is evidenced by a score of five in the IELTS academic test, sixty-one in the TOEFL iBT, or four hundred and fifty in the reading and writing section of the SAT, while mathematics requires at least four hundred and fifty in the SAT Math test. For the IB Diploma, no points threshold is published here, because the figure circulating online could not be verified against an official ministry source. Check it on the ministry's own channel before planning subject choices around it.

The practical point for a Diploma student in Ajman is that subject choice in Year 12 has consequences beyond the points. Mathematics route choice in particular, between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, is a prerequisite question for engineering and economics admissions at several institutions, and it is far cheaper to resolve in Year 12 than to work around in Year 13.

Where we tutor

Diploma students across Ajman, and what shapes their week

Diploma candidates in Ajman share one feature wherever they live: the school setting their deadlines is usually in another emirate. What differs by district is the length of the daily journey and therefore what time serious work can start.

Al Nuaimiya

Close to the Sharjah boundary and the easiest part of Ajman from which to reach a Sharjah school. Diploma students here tend to be home by 4.30pm, which makes a 6pm session realistic during term and a later one in coursework weeks.

Al Jurf

Fast access to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and to Sharjah schools, but a slow return in the evening peak. Students in this cluster usually hold a single late weekday slot rather than trying to fit two sessions into the week.

Al Mowaihat

Villa sub-districts with long school runs into Sharjah or Dubai. The common pattern here is a weekend morning session for content teaching plus a short weekday review slot during internal deadline weeks.

Al Yasmeen and Al Zahya

Emirates Road communities with Dubai commutes for parents and sometimes for students. Diploma families here are the ones most likely to be managing an internal deadline set under KHDA from an Ajman address.

Ajman Corniche and Al Rumailah

Seafront towers with short local journeys but households where parents return late. Final-year students in this cluster often work best in a 9pm review slot in the weeks before an internal upload deadline.

Al Helio and Al Rawda

Low-rise villa areas with reliable home internet and usually a quiet room available. The practical advantage for a Diploma student is being able to hold a ninety-minute session without interruption, which matters for paper practice.

Emirates City and Al Alia

High-rise blocks with the longest daily travel in the emirate for students attending school across the border. Adding any journey to that week is the reason families here rule out in-home arrangements before asking the price.

Dubai Diploma schools reached from the Ajman side

A smaller group of Ajman families travel into Dubai, where schools sit under KHDA. Dubai added seven new private schools for 2026-27, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, which has widened the options reachable from the northern emirates.

  • The Westminster School, Dubai
  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai

Schools are named only as context for where Ajman students sit the Diploma; no affiliation with or endorsement by any named school is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Run the points audit first

List each subject, its current working grade, what internal work is already submitted and what remains. That page tells you which two or three subjects hold the movable points, which is usually a shorter list than the one a worried family arrives with.

  2. 02

    Collect the internal deadlines

Ask the school for every remaining internal assessment, Extended Essay and TOK deadline across both years and put them on one sheet. The clustering is what breaks Diploma students, and it only becomes visible when the dates sit next to each other.

  3. 03

Take the free trial on the real material

One session at no charge, with no card details taken, working on the most recent marked paper or the current internal assessment draft rather than a generic exercise. A written note follows, naming what the tutor found and what they would prioritise.

  4. 04

Buy against the points at risk

A block aimed at the component where marks are still reachable, with an agreed end point: a reworked draft submitted before the school's deadline, or a second marked paper of the same type. The commitment is quoted as a block rather than as a rolling charge.

  5. 05

Review, then decide about the next term

Compare the agreed end point against the opening audit. Continue in that subject, switch to another where more points are now movable, change tutor, or stop. All four are reasonable, and the audit rather than a renewal conversation should decide.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Planned in points, reported in marks

Sessions are aimed at components where points are still reachable, and feedback comes back with the marks available, the marks awarded and the reason in the mark scheme's language. A parent who does not know the subject can still audit that.

Specialists for Higher Level, not substitutes

Because teaching is online, the pool for a Higher Level subject is national rather than limited to who will travel into Ajman on a weekday evening. Where we cannot staff a combination properly, we say so instead of placing a generalist.

A clear line on assessed work

On internal assessments, the Extended Essay and the TOK essay the student owns the question, the data and every sentence. We teach skills on other examples, read what exists and ask questions. We turn down requests to supply text.

Figures with their sources named

Every AED band here belongs to a provider that published it, and none is presented as ours. Our quote follows the trial because the audit changes the work, and one hourly rate for a year of teaching and a five-session draft review would be misleading.

No invented exam dates

This page publishes no IB session or results date, because we could not verify them from the IB directly. Cambridge and Pearson dates appear where they are published and sourced. A wrong date on an exam page costs a family more than a missing one.

Slots that hold across two years

Evening starts that work after a Sharjah or Dubai commute, post-Iftar timing during Ramadan, and no cancellation when the roads are bad. Across a two-year programme, reliability produces more marked work than any single outstanding session.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ajman: your questions answered

How are the forty-five Diploma points actually made up?+

Six subjects graded one to seven give up to forty-two points. The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge are each graded A to E and combine on a published matrix to award up to three more, giving forty-five. Creativity, activity, service earns no points but must be completed for the diploma to be awarded. Within each subject, part of the grade comes from internally assessed work marked at school and moderated by the IB, and the rest from externally marked papers. That split is why an audit of what is already submitted matters more than a topic list.

Can a student reach enough points and still not be awarded the diploma?+

Yes, and it is the thing families discover latest. The award rests on a published set of conditions covering the overall total, minimum performance across Higher and Standard Level, specific failing conditions attached to very low grades, and completion of the core including creativity, activity, service. A numerically adequate total with one grade below the threshold, or an incomplete core element, can still fail the award. Ask your school's IB coordinator for the current conditions in writing rather than relying on any tutoring site, including this one.

How much of my child's Diploma grade is already decided before the exams?+

A substantial part of each subject grade sits in internally assessed work produced during the course: the mathematics exploration, the scientific investigation, research projects, oral components. The exact share differs by subject and changes when a syllabus is revised, so read the current subject guide your school teaches to rather than trusting a figure online. The practical consequence is blunt: money spent on that work before the school's deadline buys marks that then lock in, while the same money spent afterwards cannot reach them at all.

Where does a predicted grade come from, and can it be revisited?+

The school produces it from mock results, classwork, the quality of internal assessment work and the teacher's judgement of trajectory. It is not negotiable in the way families hope, but it is evidential, which means the evidence can be improved before predictions are finalised. A timed full paper completed and marked, a reworked draft submitted before the deadline, or three topic tests showing a sustained direction are things a teacher can point to. A statement that private tuition has started is not.

My child has a three in a Higher Level subject in January. What is realistic?+

It depends almost entirely on what is still movable. If an internal assessment in that subject is unsubmitted or reworkable before the school's deadline, there is real recoverable ground. If everything internal is settled, the remaining territory is paper technique: question selection, timing, command-term depth and transferring working into the answer space. That is worth doing and it is not nothing, but it is a narrower job than a family usually expects. An honest provider will tell you which case you are in before quoting.

What does Diploma tuition cost per hour for a family in Ajman?+

Published market figures put qualified online subject tuition at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, with one provider publishing IB from AED 200. Specialist IB work runs about AED 200 to 450 and above; one provider published AED 270 and a premium named-tutor rate of AED 650 has been published. In-home visits sit around AED 180 to 500 because travel is inside the price. For a single weekly hour, market monthly estimates run AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Those are other providers' figures; ours follows the trial lesson.

Can a tutor give feedback on an Extended Essay draft without breaking IB rules?+

Yes, within clear limits. A tutor can read what the student has written and ask questions about it, point out that a section describes where the criteria ask for analysis, teach referencing conventions and research discipline on examples that are not the assessed essay, and work through the criterion descriptors until the student can state what each band requires. A tutor must not supply sentences, rewrite a section into final form or choose the research question. Keep dated drafts, and declare the support accurately if the school asks what help was received.

How many points can the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge add?+

Up to three between them. Each is graded A to E and the two grades combine on a published matrix to produce the core points. For many students those three points are the difference between a competitive and an ordinary total, which is out of proportion to the attention they usually receive. Both are supervised internally with deadlines the school sets, so they are also the components most often left late. A family auditing a Diploma position in the final year should check the state of both before looking at anything else.

When should an Ajman Diploma student start the internal assessment work?+

Earlier than the school's deadline implies, because the deadlines cluster. A typical Diploma student carries internal components in several subjects plus the Extended Essay and TOK, and most of those dates fall in the first half of the final year. Starting each piece when the school introduces it, rather than when the deadline appears, is the difference between work that can be redrafted and work that is submitted in whatever state it reaches. Ask in Year 12 for every internal date across both years and put them on one page.

Is the November session worth considering if May goes badly?+

It exists as an option and some UAE students use it, but the decision needs the real dates and conditions rather than general advice, and it has to be made with the school. This page publishes no IB session or results dates, because the IB's own pages could not be verified in this project and a wrong exam date is worse than none. Get the session window, the enquiry-upon-results window and the retake entry deadline from your school's IB coordinator or from ibo.org, and understand the enquiry window before results arrive rather than after.

Does the UAE equivalency process recognise an IB Diploma?+

Equivalency is a Ministry of Education process and the authority's own channel is the only reliable source for its current requirements. The British-track rules are published: five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no lower than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one A-Level at E or two AS-Levels at E. The American track specifies IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT 450 in reading and writing, and SAT Math 450. For the IB, no points figure is published here because it could not be verified officially.

How do Diploma sessions fit around a commute from Ajman into Dubai or Sharjah?+

By being held in the evening and by not requiring anyone to travel. Starts at 7pm or 7.30pm hold reliably from Al Nuaimiya and Al Jurf, later from Emirates City where the daily journey is longest, and final-year students in coursework weeks often take a 9pm review slot. During Ramadan sessions move to post-Iftar timing for the month and then return. Over two years the slot that survives a bad traffic day and a parent's travel week produces considerably more marked work than a better hour cancelled twice a month.

Does IB Gram arrange a Diploma tutor to teach at an address in Ajman?+

No. We do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Diploma teaching for Ajman students is delivered one-to-one over live video with a shared screen for working through papers, and marked work returned in writing afterwards. The trade-off is deliberate. You give up having a person in the room, and you gain access to a Higher Level specialist for the exact subject and level rather than choosing from whoever is willing to drive into the emirate on a weekday evening.

What should be in the evidence file by January of the final year?+

Six things. Current working grades by subject on one page. Every remaining internal deadline with the date the school set. A recent full marked paper in each Higher Level subject. The Extended Essay with its dated drafts. The TOK title and whatever has been written against it. And three or four named question types that consistently lose marks, rather than a general sense of weakness. Assembling that takes an evening and regularly changes which subject a family prioritises in the final term.

Can one Ajman IB Diploma tutor cover two Higher Level subjects for the same student?+

Occasionally, where the combination is a natural pairing such as two sciences or mathematics with physics, and where the tutor genuinely examines both at that level. More often the honest answer is two specialists in two slots, because Higher Level depth is subject-specific and a tutor stretched across two unrelated subjects teaches both at Standard Level depth. Ask which subjects a tutor has actually taught at Higher Level rather than which they can cover. Where we cannot staff the second subject properly, we will say so rather than extend the first tutor into it.

Write the audit, then decide what to buy

Before looking for an IB diploma tutor in Ajman, spend an evening on the audit: each subject with its current working grade, what internal work is already submitted, every remaining internal deadline, and the three or four question types that keep losing marks. That single page usually shows that two subjects hold almost all the recoverable points, which is a much smaller and cheaper problem than the one most families arrive with. Send it with the most recent marked paper and any internal assessment draft, take the free trial lesson, and the plan that follows will be aimed at points that are genuinely still in play.
