Cambridge IGCSE Maths 0580 Tutor in Ajman

Nobody budgets for a Cambridge IGCSE Maths 0580 tutor in Ajman by the hour. They budget by the month, across a school year, usually for more than one child. So this page starts with the monthly figure rather than the hourly one, names the published AED bands and who published them, and then sets out the five things that genuinely move that number for a household in Ajman: the tier, the number of subjects, the school's emirate, the hour of the evening and whether anybody has to drive. Lessons are one-to-one over live video.

  • Monthly AED ranges given first, with the published hourly bands behind them
  • Every rate attributed to the provider that published it, collected October 2026
  • Core and Extended treated as a budget decision with a grade ceiling attached

The honest answer to what 0580 costs is a monthly figure with five variables in it

Ask what a maths tutor costs in Ajman and you will be given an hourly rate, which is the least useful number available. A household does not spend an hour on tuition. It spends roughly four sessions a month, for the nine teaching months of a school year, often across two children on different curricula, and that total is what actually has to fit alongside school fees. The figure worth knowing is therefore monthly, and the published monthly bands for weekly one-hour tuition run around AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support, according to Bestimate's Dubai rate table.

Behind each of those monthly bands sits an hourly rate, and the honest way to read them is cheapest first. University-student and budget online tuition is advertised from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik publishing from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from about AED 33 to 52. A qualified online subject tutor sits at roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150. An in-home visit including travel runs about AED 180 to 500. Named IB and IGCSE specialists sit at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270, and premium or examiner-led tuition reaches AED 500 to 650 and above, with BartyED publishing AED 650. Those are market rates collected in October 2026 from the providers that published them, not an IB Gram price list.

Five things move an Ajman family's position inside those bands. The first is the tier: a Core 0580 entry and an Extended entry are different courses with different hour requirements and different grade ceilings. The second is how many subjects are in trouble, because maths is rarely alone on a weak report. The third is which emirate the school sits in, since a significant share of Ajman households send children across the border to Sharjah or Dubai campuses and inherit that emirate's calendar. The fourth is the hour of the evening the household can realistically protect. The fifth is whether anybody has to drive, which is the variable with the largest price tag attached.

Ajman itself shapes those variables in a specific way. It is the smallest emirate by area, its private schools sit under federal Ministry of Education supervision rather than under an emirate-level authority, and a large proportion of working parents commute south to Sharjah or Dubai. That combination means the local pool of subject specialists is small, the evening starts late, and the nearest tuition centre is often in another emirate. Each of those pushes the realistic cost of in-person help upwards and makes the comparison with a scheduled video session more favourable than the hourly rates alone suggest.

What follows is the arithmetic rather than the advertising. There is a monthly table, a provider-model table ordered cheapest first, a comparison of what the travel premium actually buys, and the component structure of 0580 so you can see which half of the grade your money is aimed at. Tuition is delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; IB Gram does not send tutors to addresses in Ajman, because home visiting is a service it runs only in India. Where in-home rates appear on this page they are the market's prices, quoted so the comparison can be made properly.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580

A two-year course examined by two written papers, chosen by tier. Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3; Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4. One paper in each pair is sat without a calculator and one with, following the 2025 syllabus revision, and there is no coursework. The nine content areas are number, algebra and graphs, coordinate geometry, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, transformations and vectors, probability and statistics. Confirm the structure and the provided formulae for your child's exam year at cambridgeinternational.org.

In Ajman the cost pattern is distinctive. Many families start tuition late, in Year 11 rather than Year 10, because the Year 10 report is read as a slow start rather than a warning. Starting late compresses the same syllabus into fewer months, which pushes a household from the mid monthly band towards the exam-year band. The cheapest version of 0580 support is almost always the one that begins in the autumn of Year 10 at one session a week.

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

A separate qualification several Ajman and Sharjah schools run alongside Extended 0580 for stronger candidates, introducing calculus, series, circular measure and kinematics. It is a second examination with its own two papers and its own hours, not an extension of the maths lesson. Families who assume one tutor covers both subjects for one fee are usually surprised, because the teaching is genuinely different work even when the same tutor does it.

The budget question here is simple and rarely asked in time: if the household can fund one subject properly rather than two thinly, Extended 0580 comes first, because it is the grade that appears on every university and sixth-form requirement. Adding 0606 on half the hours it needs tends to cost a household money without moving either certificate.

IB Diploma Mathematics, and A Level Mathematics

Where 0580 leads. Diploma Mathematics splits into Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation at Standard or Higher Level; A Level Mathematics assumes Extended 0580 algebra as a starting point rather than as a target. Students who reached a grade B at Extended by relying on the calculator paper meet that gap in the first term of Year 12, and Year 12 catch-up is the most expensive tuition a family ever buys.

No IB session or results date appears on this page. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so confirm any Diploma date with the school's coordinator or on ibo.org. What can be said safely is that UAE schools sit the May session and that internal deadlines inside a school fall months ahead of it, which is why a two-year plan costs less per mark than a three-month rescue.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The nine content areas of 0580 do not cost the same to repair. The notes below give what each area demands and roughly how many paid hours it typically absorbs, so a household with a fixed monthly figure can spend it where the marks are.

Number

Core and Extended

Fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio, standard form, bounds, indices and surds at Extended. Cheap to repair and examined in every paper, which makes it the best first purchase for a household on a tight monthly figure. Reverse percentage and upper and lower bounds are the two reliable losses; both are rule-based and both take about one session each.

Algebra and graphs

Core and Extended

Expanding, factorising, rearranging, solving linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, sequences, functions and graph sketching. This is the largest block in the syllabus and the one that absorbs the most paid hours. Extended candidates also meet algebraic fractions and completing the square, and a student who is shaky here will lose marks in trigonometry and mensuration questions as well.

Coordinate geometry

Core and Extended

Gradients, midpoints, the equation of a straight line, parallel and perpendicular lines, and length of a line segment at Extended. Short, formulaic and among the best value per hour in the syllabus. Candidates lose marks by quoting a gradient without signs or by confusing the perpendicular condition, both of which are single-session fixes.

Geometry

Core and Extended

Angle facts, polygons, circle theorems at Extended, symmetry, congruence and similarity, and constructions. Circle theorems are the recurring Extended weakness: students name a theorem without stating the reason the examiner wants, and reasons carry marks of their own. Expect two or three sessions for a candidate who has never written a geometric reason properly.

Mensuration

Core and Extended

Perimeter, area, surface area and volume, arcs and sectors, and compound solids. The content is not conceptually hard and the losses are almost all unit errors, unconverted dimensions and rounding at the wrong stage. That makes it a technique problem rather than a knowledge problem, which is cheaper to fix than most of the syllabus.

Trigonometry

Core and Extended

Right-angled trigonometry and Pythagoras at both tiers, with the sine and cosine rules, area of a triangle and three-dimensional problems at Extended. The common failure is choosing the wrong rule rather than mishandling it, so the useful teaching is decision practice on mixed questions rather than more worked examples of each rule in isolation.

Transformations and vectors

Core and Extended

Reflection, rotation, translation, enlargement, column vectors and vector geometry at Extended. Marks disappear in the descriptions: a correct rotation drawn without stating the centre and the direction scores partial credit at best. Short block, high return, and usually taught quickly in school because it sits late in the scheme of work.

Probability and statistics

Core and Extended

Probability, tree and Venn diagrams, averages from frequency tables, cumulative frequency and histograms with unequal class widths at Extended. The histogram question is the single most reliable Extended loss in the whole paper because frequency density is forgotten. It is one session, it recurs every series, and it is the clearest example of cheap marks in 0580.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of buying 0580 help at three different monthly costs. All three run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and all three start with a free 50-minute trial lesson before any payment is arranged.

One session a week from Year 10

The cheapest route per mark and the most expensive-looking on a spreadsheet, because it runs for two years. Roughly four sessions a month following the school's scheme, with set work in between and a marked written answer out of every session. Families who choose this rarely need the exam-year band, because nothing accumulates into a crisis that has to be bought out of in three months.

  • About four sessions a month, same hour each week
  • Follows the school scheme rather than a generic syllabus order
  • A marked written answer from every session
  • Reviewed at week six against the first diagnostic paper

A targeted block before the series

Six to ten sessions bought after a mock, aimed only at the content the paper exposed. This is the lowest total spend that reliably moves a boundary, because every hour is pointed at diagnosed weakness rather than at general coverage. It works well when the gaps are specific and badly when most of the two years is missing, and a diagnostic paper tells you which situation you are in.

  • Opens with a timed past paper at the correct tier
  • Topics ordered by marks lost, not by syllabus order
  • Includes the non-calculator paper, usually the least practised
  • Closes with a second timed paper for comparison

Two subjects, one schedule

For Ajman households supporting maths alongside a science or a second maths qualification. Sessions are scheduled back to back on the same evening so the family protects one evening rather than three, and the monthly figure is visible in advance rather than accumulating. The teaching is still subject-specific: one tutor per subject unless a specialist genuinely covers both.

  • Sessions blocked on one evening to protect the rest of the week
  • Monthly total agreed before the first paid session
  • A separate diagnostic per subject, not one shared assessment
  • Dropped back to one subject as soon as the second is secure

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ajman

01

Start with the month, not the hour

An hourly rate answers a question nobody is asking. A family in Al Rawda with a Year 11 maths problem wants to know what the next nine months look like on a bank statement, and the hourly figure has to be multiplied by four and then by nine before it means anything. Doing that multiplication first changes the decision, because a rate that looks reasonable at AED 300 becomes AED 1,200 a month and AED 10,800 across a school year, which is a different conversation from the one the rate alone invites.

The published monthly bands make the comparison easier. Bestimate's Dubai rate table puts weekly one-hour tuition at roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Alongside those, the packaged offers visible in this market are AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits. The gap between those last two figures is the clearest statement of what travel costs that anyone in this market publishes.

The second multiplication most households forget is children. Maths is rarely the only subject in difficulty and rarely the only child in the house. Two children at one session a week each, in the middle band, is AED 1,200 to 2,400 a month, which for many Ajman families sits in the same range as a term of school fees. That number is the reason this page leads with the tier decision and the diagnostic rather than with a tutor list: deciding what not to buy is worth more than negotiating the rate.

02

Cheapest first: the five provider models an Ajman family can buy

Ordering the market from the bottom up is more honest than the usual premium-first presentation, because most households do not start at the top and work down. They start with what a cousin pays and work up until the teaching looks like it will survive contact with an Extended paper. The lowest band is university-student and budget online tuition, advertised from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik publishing from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from about AED 33 to 52. That band genuinely works for routine, homework supervision and confidence. It does not reliably move circle theorems or histograms.

Above it sits the qualified online subject tutor at roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. This is where most 0580 work belongs: somebody who has taught the syllabus, knows which reason the examiner wants in a geometry question and can mark against the published scheme. Above that again, named IB and IGCSE specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270, and premium or examiner-led tuition reaches AED 500 to 650 and above, with BartyED publishing AED 650.

The in-home band sits alongside rather than above those, at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel, with Bestimate quoting AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500. Reading the two columns side by side is the whole argument: the same qualified subject teaching costs AED 150 to 300 online and AED 180 to 500 with someone in the room, and the difference is travel rather than expertise. Every figure here was published by the named provider and collected in October 2026; ask any provider for the date and source of its own rate before treating it as current.

What the travel premium actually buys in Ajman

The gap between the online band and the in-home band is roughly AED 30 to 200 an hour, and it is worth asking precisely what that buys. It buys presence: a person in the room, a parent who can see the session happening, and a student who cannot close a laptop. Those are real benefits and some students need them. What it does not buy is a wider choice of tutor, and in Ajman that is the trade that matters, because the pool of people who can teach Extended 0580 properly and are willing to drive to Al Yasmeen on a Tuesday evening is small.

It also buys travel time that nobody teaches in. A tutor crossing from Sharjah to Ajman in the evening peak is pricing an hour of driving into the fee, and the monthly figures make that explicit: AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits against AED 799 for eight online sessions. The in-home plan delivers eight hours of teaching across four visits; the online plan delivers eight sessions across eight evenings. Which is better teaching depends on the student, but the second spreads contact across more weeks for roughly half the monthly figure.

The third thing the premium buys is scheduling risk. An in-home arrangement has a single point of failure in the evening traffic, and a cancelled visit in a nine-month plan is a lost week that usually gets absorbed rather than rescheduled. A video session survives weather, roadworks and a parent running late from Dubai. None of this makes in-home visiting wrong. It makes the comparison a cost question rather than a quality question, and the table sets both columns out so an Ajman household can decide with the numbers in front of it.

04

Why an Ajman address moves the number

Three features of this emirate change the arithmetic, and none of them appears on a general UAE tutoring page. The first is cross-border schooling. A large share of Ajman households send children to campuses in Sharjah or along the Emirates Road corridor, and a child at a Sharjah school sits under the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods in that emirate. Ajman's own private schools are supervised federally: the Ministry of Education plays the supervising role for Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.

The second is the commute. A meaningful number of Ajman parents work in Dubai or Sharjah and are not home before 7pm, which means the usable tutoring window is late and narrow. A narrow window raises the price of in-person help, because the tutors willing to work it are fewer, and it raises the price of an inflexible arrangement, because a missed early slot is simply lost. It has almost no effect on the cost of a scheduled video session, which is the quiet reason online delivery prices lower here than the national average would suggest.

The third is scarcity. Ajman is the smallest emirate by area and its private-school population is modest, so the number of resident teachers who have taught Extended 0580 and marked against its schemes is genuinely small. Scarcity shows up as a premium on local availability rather than as a premium on quality, which is the single most useful thing an Ajman parent can understand before negotiating. Removing distance from the selection criteria does not buy a cheaper tutor so much as it buys a better-matched one at the same published band.

05

Core or Extended: a tier decision with a price attached

0580 is tiered, and the tier is the most consequential financial decision in the subject. Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3 and the certificate is capped: grade C is the ceiling, whatever is spent on tuition. Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4 and the full range is available. A family paying specialist rates for a child entered at Core is buying a better grade C, which may be entirely the right purchase, but it should be a decision rather than a discovery.

The decision belongs to the school, and the timing is the problem. Some Ajman campuses set Core and Extended groups from the start of Year 10, which gives a family eighteen months of warning. Others decide at the Cambridge entry deadline in Year 11, which gives a family weeks. In the second pattern the first many parents hear of it is a mock paper with the tier printed on it, and by then the tuition needed to move a borderline candidate up a tier costs considerably more than the same hours would have cost a year earlier.

There is a budget rule that follows from this and it is worth stating plainly. If your child is borderline between tiers in Year 10, that is the moment to spend, because the hours are buying a ceiling rather than a few marks. If your child is securely Core in Year 11, the honest advice is to spend less rather than more: target the number, algebra and mensuration content that carries most of the Core papers, and stop. Nobody can promise a particular grade at either tier, and a provider who offers to is worth treating with caution.

06

Four papers, two tiers, and the one sat without a calculator

A 0580 candidate sits two of the syllabus's four papers, decided by tier. Following the 2025 syllabus revision each tier pairs a paper sat without a calculator with a paper sat with one, which changed the preparation materially for students whose arithmetic had been quietly outsourced to a device since Year 7. There is no coursework and nothing banked before the papers, so both mornings carry equal weight. Confirm the component structure, the timings and the list of formulae provided for your child's exam year at cambridgeinternational.org.

The non-calculator paper is where an Ajman tutoring budget most often earns its return, and for an unexpected reason. The content is not harder; the arithmetic is simply unpractised. Fractions without a calculator, surds, standard form by hand and percentage work in the head are skills that a decade of calculator use has eroded, and they can be rebuilt in a handful of sessions because they are drills rather than concepts. A household that funds six well-aimed sessions on exactly this often sees more movement than one funding six months of general support.

The second structural point is that both papers in a tier examine the whole syllabus. There is no topic a candidate can decide not to meet, which is why the marks-lost ordering in the table and in the subject notes above matters more than coverage. Spending on the histogram question, the circle-theorem reasons and the bounds work is spending on content that is certain to appear in some form. Spending on a general revision course is spending on content the student may already hold.

07

Where 0580 marks go missing, and what each repair costs in hours

Four losses recur in marked Extended scripts from this market, and knowing them converts a vague budget into a short shopping list. Histograms with unequal class widths come first: the frequency-density step is forgotten, the question is worth several marks, it appears reliably, and it takes about one session. Circle theorems come second, and the loss is not the theorem but the reason, because an examiner awards the reasoning mark separately from the answer. Two or three sessions covers a candidate who has never written a geometric reason.

Bounds and reverse percentages are third, and they are the clearest example of cheap marks in the syllabus. Both are rule-following rather than insight, both appear in nearly every series, and both are commonly skipped in school revision because they feel elementary. A session each, with mixed practice afterwards, is usually the whole repair. Fourth is the trigonometry decision: candidates who know the sine rule, the cosine rule and the area formula perfectly still lose marks by choosing the wrong one, so the teaching needed is mixed decision practice rather than further worked examples.

Set against those, the expensive repairs are algebraic fluency and the non-calculator arithmetic, because both are habits built over years rather than topics learned in an evening. A household with a fixed monthly figure should fund the four cheap repairs first, measure the movement on a timed paper, and only then decide whether the expensive work is worth buying. That ordering is the difference between a plan and a standing order, and it is the one piece of advice on this page that costs nothing to follow.

08

Paying safely under federal oversight

Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit, and an Ajman family paying cash to a neighbour's cousin should know what the rules are. The u.ae portal records that the private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits, that the permit is granted free of charge for two years, and that eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Individuals tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

No fine amount appears on this page because none is published. Reporting of the ministry's announcement recorded that the amounts and penalties were not specified, and a figure circulating online could not be verified against a ministry source. The official route is MoHRE's own service, 'Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing', which lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. The permit is free, so a tutor citing permit costs as a reason for a higher rate is citing something that does not exist.

Two further money questions deserve straight answers. The UAE value-added-tax treatment of tuition fees is not stated as fact here, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation; ask any provider directly whether its quoted AED figure includes VAT and get the answer in writing. And whatever a family pays, the data side matters: a lead form about a child collects personal information, and under Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection you are entitled to know what is held, why, and how to have it deleted. Ask that question before the first session, not after the third invoice.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Ajman

Ajman is compact, so the variable that moves a tutoring budget here is not distance within the emirate but which border the household crosses and how many children are being supported at once. These notes are about those two things.

Al Nuaimiya

Central, dense and close to several long-established city schools. Short school runs mean an earlier slot is viable, and viable earlier slots are cheaper in practice because they are the ones that do not get cancelled and rebooked.

Al Jurf

Mixed residential and commercial near the university area. Households here commonly support two or three children across different curricula at once, which is the point at which the monthly figure matters far more than the hourly rate.

Al Mowaihat

Inland villa communities where families accepted a longer school run in exchange for space. The drive is the reason an in-home visit priced at AED 180 to 500 an hour includes travel time a household is paying for but not receiving teaching in.

Al Rawda

Established villa and apartment districts with children spread across Ajman and Sharjah campuses. A household with one child at a Sharjah school and one in Ajman is running two calendars, and a fixed weekly slot per child is the only arrangement that survives that.

Al Yasmeen

Newer residential development towards the emirate's southern edge. Few subject specialists live within a short drive, so the local market rate reflects scarcity rather than quality, which is precisely the premium a scheduled video session removes.

Al Zorah and the Corniche

Waterfront apartment and villa living. The practical cost here is not travel but space: a 0580 session needs a quiet room with a door, and for several households solving that is the first step rather than choosing a tutor.

Emirates City and Al Alia

High-rise residential towers near the Sharjah boundary, with a young and largely expatriate population. Parents here frequently work in Dubai and are not home before 7pm, which closes off every earlier slot and narrows the available tutor pool at that hour.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Ajman

Ajman campuses entering Cambridge IGCSE maths candidates

The city's established British- and Indian-curriculum campuses. Tier policy differs between them: some set Core and Extended groups from Year 10, others decide at the entry deadline in Year 11, and the second pattern is the one that catches families out financially.

  • Ibn Seena English High School, Ajman
  • Habitat School, Ajman
  • Ajman Modern School
  • Al Ameer English School, Ajman
  • Scholars Indian School, Ajman

Where Ajman families cross a border for school

Newer Ajman campuses along the Emirates Road corridor, plus the Sharjah schools a meaningful number of Ajman households drive to. A child at a Sharjah campus sits under the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which approves tuition fees and curricula in that emirate.

  • Pace British School, Ajman
  • The City School International, Ajman
  • Ajman Private School
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • The International School of Creative Science, Sharjah

Schools are named only as local context for Ajman families; IB Gram has no affiliation with any of them, and tier and board policies change, so confirm the current position with the school directly.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Establish the tier before discussing money

The first question is whether your child is entered for Core or Extended, because a Core entry caps the certificate at grade C and changes what any budget can achieve. Ask the school in writing, and if the tier is not yet fixed, ask when it will be. Everything else on this page is a cheaper decision than this one.

  2. 02

Take the free 50-minute trial as a diagnostic

The trial is a working session. The tutor sets a short non-calculator sequence, a circle-theorem question and a histogram, marks them live against the published criteria, and names the specific losses. That turns a monthly budget into a list of four or five repairs in order of marks, which is the only way to spend a fixed figure well. No payment is arranged before it happens.

  3. 03

Agree a monthly total, not an hourly rate

Sessions a month, months in the plan, and the total that produces. If two children are involved, the total is agreed for both before the first paid session rather than discovered across three invoices. Where the figure exceeds what the household wants to commit, the plan is cut back to the highest-return repairs rather than stretched thin across everything.

  4. 04

Protect one evening on Gulf Standard Time

Slots are set late enough for a household where a parent drives back from Dubai or Sharjah, and where two subjects are involved they are blocked on the same evening so the rest of the week stays clear. The same hour every week matters more than which hour, because a rescheduled session is the most common form of wasted money in this market.

  5. 05

Measure at week six and cut if it has not moved

After six weeks there is a second timed paper and a comparison against the first, broken down by the losses the diagnostic named. If a measure has moved, the plan continues. If it has not, the approach changes rather than the hours increasing, and if a repair is finished the sessions stop. Spending less when less is needed is part of the arrangement.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The monthly figure comes first

Every rate on this page is published with its source and then converted into what a household actually spends across a month and a school year. An hourly number that has not been multiplied by four and then by nine is not a budget, and the gap between those two framings is where most families in this market are surprised.

Rates are attributed, never presented as ours

The AED bands here were published by named providers and collected in October 2026. They are market rates, not an IB Gram price list, and where a provider published a specific figure it is named alongside it. Any page quoting a rate without a date and a source is quoting something that may be two years stale.

The tier is treated as the main cost decision

Most tutoring copy treats Core and Extended as a detail. In 0580 the tier sets the ceiling on the certificate, which means it sets the ceiling on what any amount of tuition can buy. Establishing it before the budget conversation is the single most valuable thing an Ajman parent can do this term.

The repairs are ordered by marks per hour

Histograms, circle-theorem reasons, bounds, reverse percentages and the trigonometry choice are named specifically, with rough hour costs, so a household with a fixed figure can spend it where the marks are rather than on general revision. Cheap repairs come first and the expensive habits are only bought once the cheap ones are banked.

The permit facts are the real ones

The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free of charge for two years under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and no fine schedule is published anywhere. That means nobody can justify a premium on permit costs, and nobody should be quoting penalty figures at you. Both are useful things to know while negotiating.

What is not on offer is stated plainly

Lessons are online, one-to-one and on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to Ajman addresses, holds no Ministry of Education or Cambridge accreditation, does not perform equivalency, and does not produce work a student will submit. The in-home figures on this page are the market's prices, quoted for comparison.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ajman: your questions answered

What should an Ajman family budget per month for 0580 maths support?+

Published monthly bands for weekly one-hour tuition run roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year work, according to Bestimate's Dubai rate table. Most Extended candidates with two or three weak content areas sit in the middle band, which is about four sessions a month at the AED 150 to 300 hourly range qualified online subject tutors publish. Two children at one session each a week doubles that. Those are market figures collected in October 2026, not an IB Gram price list.

Is a group class at a centre better value than one-to-one for 0580?+

Per hour, yes. Per mark, usually not, and the reason is diagnosis. A group class teaches a syllabus at a pace; it does not find out that your child loses marks on frequency density and on geometric reasons specifically. For a candidate whose losses are not yet identified, a centre class provides structure cheaply and is a reasonable first step. For a candidate who has sat a mock and has four identifiable weaknesses, one-to-one hours pointed at those four will usually move the mark further for the same total spend. Centres in this market also rarely publish a rate, so ask for it in writing.

How much more does an in-home maths tutor cost in Ajman than an online one?+

On published rates, the gap is roughly AED 30 to 200 an hour. Qualified online subject tutors publish about AED 150 to 300; in-home visits including travel run about AED 180 to 500, with Bestimate quoting AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors quoting AED 200 to 500. The monthly packages make it starker: AED 799 for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. The difference is travel time rather than teaching quality, and in Ajman it also narrows the tutor pool to whoever will drive to your district at your hour.

Does a Core entry change what tutoring can achieve for my son?+

Yes, and it is the most important thing to establish before spending. A Core 0580 entry caps the certificate at grade C regardless of how many hours are bought, because Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3 and the full grade range is only available on the Extended papers. That does not make tuition pointless; a secure grade C is a real outcome and it may be exactly what the household needs. It does mean that paying specialist rates in the hope of an A is buying something the entry cannot deliver. Ask the school in writing which tier your son is entered for.

When does my child's school in Ajman decide the maths tier?+

It varies, and the variation is what costs families money. Some Ajman campuses set Core and Extended groups from the beginning of Year 10, which gives you eighteen months of warning and the chance to spend when spending changes a ceiling. Others decide at the Cambridge entry deadline in Year 11, and in those schools the first many parents hear of it is a mock paper with the tier printed on it. Ask the head of maths directly, in writing, when the tier is fixed and what evidence it is based on. That question costs nothing and reframes the entire budget.

Why is there a maths paper without a calculator now?+

Because the 2025 syllabus revision paired each tier's papers so that one is sat without a calculator and one with. Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3; Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4. Confirm the arrangement, the timings and the formulae provided for your child's exam year at cambridgeinternational.org. The practical consequence for an Ajman family is that fractions, surds, standard form and percentage work by hand are examined skills again, and for students who have used a calculator since Year 7 those are drills rather than concepts, which makes them unusually cheap to rebuild.

Which single 0580 topic gives the most marks back per hour paid?+

On marked Extended scripts from this market, histograms with unequal class widths. The frequency-density step is forgotten, the question carries several marks, it appears reliably, and the whole repair is usually one session plus mixed practice. Close behind it are upper and lower bounds and reverse percentages, both rule-based and both commonly skipped in school revision for feeling elementary. Circle-theorem reasoning is next and takes two or three sessions, because the reasoning mark is awarded separately from the answer. Fund those four before anything else and measure the movement on a timed paper.

Do tutoring rates in this market rise closer to the exams?+

Availability tightens rather than the published bands moving, and the effect on a household is the same. In the final term the specialists who can teach Extended technique are already holding weekly slots, so what is left is either an inconvenient hour or a less experienced tutor at the same rate. Bestimate's specialist exam-year monthly band of AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above reflects that intensity rather than a seasonal surcharge. The way to avoid paying it is to start in the autumn of Year 10 at one session a week, which is the cheapest version of this subject per mark.

Does my quoted AED rate include value-added tax?+

Ask the provider directly and get the answer in writing. This page does not state the UAE value-added-tax treatment of tuition fees as fact, because doing so responsibly requires a Federal Tax Authority citation, and several pages in this market state it without one. What a family can reasonably insist on is clarity about the specific figure being quoted to them: whether the number in the message is the amount that will leave the account, and whether any registration number is held. A provider who cannot answer that plainly is telling you something useful.

Who supervises private schools in Ajman, and does that affect tutoring?+

The Ministry of Education plays the supervising role for private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, so Ajman has no emirate-level authority of the kind Dubai and Sharjah have. By contrast, the Sharjah Private Education Authority approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods in that emirate, which matters to the many Ajman families whose children attend Sharjah campuses. None of those bodies regulates private tutoring itself; that sits with MoHRE through the private tuition work permit. So the regulator question affects which school calendar and fee regime you are inside, not who may teach your child.

Does a private tutor in Ajman need a permit, and does it cost them money?+

A permit is required and it is free. The u.ae portal records that the private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, with eligibility extending to registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no schedule of amounts is published. Because the permit carries no fee, a tutor citing licensing costs as a reason for a higher rate is citing something that does not exist.

Can one tutor cover maths and physics to save us money?+

Sometimes, and the test is whether they have taught and marked both syllabuses rather than whether they are comfortable with both subjects. A genuine dual specialist saves a household a scheduling slot and occasionally a small amount of money. A maths tutor covering physics on general science confidence costs more in the end, because the losses in 0625 are about practical technique and equation recall rather than about algebra. Where two subjects are genuinely needed, scheduling them back to back on one evening protects the rest of the week, which is worth more to most Ajman families than a discount.

My daughter is in Year 11 and the mock was poor. What is the smallest spend that helps?+

A diagnostic timed paper at her entered tier, followed by six to ten sessions aimed only at what that paper exposed. At the published mid band that is roughly AED 900 to 3,000 in total rather than a nine-month commitment, and it is the lowest spend that reliably moves a boundary when the gaps are specific. If the paper shows most of the two years missing rather than four identifiable losses, a short block will not fix it and you should know that before paying. Nobody can promise a particular grade, and a provider offering one should be questioned closely.

What happens to our money if we stop after one or two sessions?+

The free 50-minute trial lesson runs before any payment is arranged, so the first session costs nothing and no card details are taken to book it. After that, sessions are agreed as a monthly total rather than as a long contract, which means stopping is a matter of not renewing rather than of recovering a prepayment. If a repair finishes early, the sessions stop; spending less when less is needed is part of the arrangement rather than an exception to it. Ask any provider in this market what its own cancellation position is in writing before prepaying a package.

What personal data does booking a maths tutor in Ajman involve?+

An enquiry collects a name, a year group, a school, a subject and a contact number, and the sessions themselves generate marked work and progress notes. Under Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection a parent is entitled to know what is held, the purpose it is held for, and how to have it removed, at any point. Nothing about a student is published, and no grades or photograph are needed to book a trial lesson. Ask any provider in this market the same question before the first session rather than after the third invoice.

Establish the tier, then set the monthly figure

Two numbers decide what a 0580 year costs an Ajman household, and both can be settled this week. The first is the tier your child is entered for, because a Core entry caps the certificate at grade C and changes what any budget can buy. The second is the monthly total you are willing to commit, converted from an hourly rate rather than guessed at. Bring the mock script and the entry confirmation to the free 50-minute trial lesson, and the session will name the four or five repairs worth funding and the order to fund them in. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.
