IGCSE Online Tuition in Abu Dhabi

IGCSE online tuition in Abu Dhabi is quoted in a band, not a price, and the band is wide: published market rates run from roughly AED 45 an hour for a student tutor to AED 650 for a premium named provider. This page explains which factors move your number, what the hourly rate does and does not include, and how hourly, package and term pricing compare once you count the sessions you will actually use. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time.

Why nobody will give you a straight price, and what to ask instead

Three of the six UAE tutoring pages reviewed for this project publish no price at all. One of them has a frequently asked question that asks what tuition costs and then declines to answer it. The two that do quote figures quote them in US dollars, which is not a currency any Abu Dhabi family transacts in. That is the market you are shopping in, and it is why a parent ends up calling four providers and getting four incompatible answers.

The reason the price is withheld is usually mundane rather than sinister. An hourly rate for a Year 11 Cambridge Physics 0625 student starting in January, needing paper-technique work on the alternative-to-practical, is a genuinely different number from a Year 10 Business Studies 0450 student starting a two-year run in September. Quoting one figure for both would be wrong for both. The failure is not in having a range; it is in refusing to explain which end of the range a particular family is at and why.

So this page does the opposite. It publishes the bands that providers in this market have themselves published, names which provider publishes which band, and then sets out the seven variables that decide where inside the band a quote lands. Subject scarcity, level, session length, exam proximity, number of subjects, tutor credential and format. Six of those seven are things a parent can influence. One of them, scarcity, is the reason online delivery changes the arithmetic in Abu Dhabi specifically.

Abu Dhabi matters to this calculation in a way most tutoring pages ignore. The emirate is spread out: the island, the Khalifa City and Al Raha corridor, Saadiyat and Yas, and the newer mainland communities out towards Al Shamkha and Al Falah. An in-home tutor crossing that at 4pm is paid for the drive whether anyone says so or not, usually through a travel-inclusive rate and a minimum booking length. Published in-home bands sit at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, and most of that gap is movement, not teaching.

A final framing note. Every AED figure on this page is a market figure attributed to the provider that published it, with the tier it describes. None of them is an IB Gram price list. IB Gram quotes against the actual subject, board, level and frequency after a free trial lesson, because the honest answer to what IGCSE tuition costs is that it depends on six things, and a published rate card would be wrong for most of the families reading it. Treat any figure here as a reference point for comparing the quotes you collect yourself, and check the provider's own page for the current number before you rely on it, since rate pages in this market are revised without notice and at least one competitor contradicts its own published prices on a second page of the same site.

The board and level you are buying tuition for changes the rate more than anything else on this page. These are the four routes Abu Dhabi families are pricing, and what each one demands of a tutor.

Cambridge International GCSE

Four-digit syllabus codes: 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0654 Coordinated Sciences, 0500 English First Language, 0510 English as a Second Language, 0455 Economics, 0450 Business Studies. Many syllabuses are tiered, with Core and Extended papers, and a Core entry caps the available grade. Cambridge runs a June series and a November series, with centres allocated to one of six administrative timetable zones.

Cambridge provision is widespread across Abu Dhabi's British curriculum schools, which is why Cambridge-specialist tutors are the least scarce and therefore the least expensive to book at the qualified-tutor tier. Tiering is the cost question most parents miss: a student entered for Core papers has a ceiling, and finding that out in Year 11 is more expensive than checking the entry in Year 10.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Codes run 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4MB1 Mathematics B, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology, 4EA1 English Language A, 4EC1 Economics, 4HI1 History. Exams are available in May/June and November each year. The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026; June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026.

Edexcel specialists in a given subject are a smaller pool in Abu Dhabi than Cambridge specialists, which pushes quotes towards the upper half of the qualified-tutor band for subjects where paper structure genuinely differs. This is the clearest case for online delivery on cost grounds: the board specialist you need may not live in the emirate at all, and a travel-inclusive in-home rate cannot solve that.

DPAges 16-19 · DP1 and DP2

IB Diploma Programme

Six subject groups, three Higher Level and three Standard Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS, with an internally assessed component in each subject. Priced above IGCSE across the market: Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200, a gap that reflects the narrower pool of tutors who know a specific subject's internal assessment criteria.

For an Abu Dhabi family, the relevant cost planning point is the two-year shape. A Diploma run is 18 to 24 months of intermittent support rather than a six-week sprint, so the sensible comparison is total spend across DP1 and DP2 rather than an hourly rate. Abu Dhabi schools sit the May session.

AS/AAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

International AS and A Level

The post-IGCSE route in most British curriculum schools in the emirate, and the qualification UAE Ministry of Education equivalency asks for on the British track alongside the IGCSE count. Priced with the specialist band because subject depth narrows the tutor pool sharply, particularly in Further Mathematics, Physics and Economics.

The equivalency rule is the reason to price A-Level support into a plan early. The published British-track requirement is five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic Education excluded from the five, plus one A-Level at no less than E or two AS-Levels at the same grade. Verify the current wording on the Ministry's own channel before planning around it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Rates vary by subject more than most providers admit, and the variation is about tutor scarcity rather than difficulty. These are the subjects Abu Dhabi families price most often, with what drives the number in each.

Mathematics (0580, 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

The least scarce subject and therefore the cheapest to book well. The cost question is tiering: Core papers cap the grade, so a student aiming above a 5 needs the Extended entry confirmed before any money is spent on tuition. Two sessions a week in the January to April run is the common shape.

Physics (0625, 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Priced above maths because the pool of tutors comfortable with both the written papers and the practical or alternative-to-practical component is smaller. Electricity and the maths of graphs are where the marks go. Online delivery is where the board specialist is usually found rather than the nearest available physics graduate.

Chemistry (0620, 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Organic chemistry and moles calculations carry most of the lost marks, and both are teachable in a short block, which makes chemistry one of the better value subjects to buy tuition in late. A six to eight week block before the series is often enough, rather than a year of weekly sessions.

Biology (0610, 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Content-heavy rather than technique-heavy, so parents frequently overbuy. The marks are usually lost on command words and on describing a graph instead of explaining it. That diagnosis changes the spend: fewer sessions aimed at answer construction rather than weekly content coverage.

Coordinated and Combined Sciences (0654, 0653)

Double and single award

Three sciences compressed, which makes tutor matching harder and the rate higher per hour but usually cheaper in total than three separate subject tutors. Worth asking any provider whether one tutor can genuinely cover all three strands at the level needed, because many cannot.

English Language (0500, 0510, 4EA1)

First Language and Second Language

Two very different products at the same price point. First Language work is directed writing and analysis technique; Second Language is accuracy, range and the listening and speaking components. Booking the wrong one is the most common wasted spend in this subject.

English Literature (0475, 4ET1)

IGCSE

Set-text dependent, which is the cost trap: a tutor who has not taught your child's specific texts spends paid hours reading them. Always confirm the text list before the first session. Essay structure and quotation use are where the marks move, and both transfer across texts.

Economics and Business (0455, 0450, 4EC1)

IGCSE

Diagram accuracy, evaluation marks and data response. Evaluation is the single most profitable thing to buy tuition for in these subjects, because it is a transferable technique rather than content, so a short block has outsized effect on the grade.

Additional and International Mathematics (0606, 0607)

IGCSE

A genuinely scarce tutor pool in Abu Dhabi, so expect quotes in the specialist band. 0607 International Mathematics carries a different structure from 0580 and a graphic display calculator expectation, which is the detail to confirm a tutor actually knows before booking.

Computer Science and ICT (0478, 0417)

IGCSE

Pseudocode, trace tables and the practical component. Scarce enough that rates sit above the science subjects, and the one area where a tutor who codes professionally but has not taught the syllabus is a false economy, because the mark scheme is specific about notation.

Arabic (0508, 0544)

First Language and Foreign Language

Taught alongside the licensed curriculum in every UAE private school. Rates sit in the qualified-tutor band and availability in Abu Dhabi is reasonable. Note that Arabic and Islamic Education are excluded from the five subjects counted for British-track Ministry equivalency.

History and Geography (0470, 0460)

IGCSE

Source skills and structured extended writing. Like Literature, these are option-dependent: confirm which papers and options your child's school has entered before paying for a tutor, since preparation for the wrong option is money spent on content that will not be examined.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

The shape of the booking changes the total far more than the hourly rate does. These are the three shapes that make sense for IGCSE, and what each one actually costs over a term.

Weekly one-to-one across the course

One subject, one tutor, one slot a week from September through to the series. The highest total spend and the lowest cost per mark when a student is genuinely behind on content rather than on technique. Thirty weeks at one hour is the planning unit, and the market's monthly estimates for a weekly hour run from roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end to AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year work.

  • Same tutor and slot each week in Gulf Standard Time
  • Plan in terms rather than months so holidays are counted honestly
  • Ask what happens to a session you cancel with 24 hours' notice
  • Best value where content, not technique, is the gap

Pre-series block of six to ten weeks

A concentrated run aimed at paper technique and the two or three topics the mocks exposed. Total spend is a fraction of a full-year plan and the effect on a grade is often larger, because most lost IGCSE marks are technique rather than ignorance. The booking is made against a named list of topics and papers, not an open-ended weekly slot.

  • Six to ten sessions, scoped from the mock paper, not from the syllabus
  • Every session ends on a timed question under exam conditions
  • Priced by the block so the total is known before you start
  • Right choice when the student knows the content but loses marks

Fortnightly review alongside school

A lighter arrangement for a student who is coping but drifting. One session every two weeks spent marking the student's own work against the published mark scheme and fixing the recurring error. Lowest total cost of the three and the easiest to scale up if the mock results say so.

  • One hour a fortnight, roughly 15 sessions across a school year
  • Session is driven by the student's own marked work
  • Scales to weekly in January without changing tutor
  • Cheapest way to keep a second or third subject monitored

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Abu Dhabi

01

What IGCSE online tuition costs in Abu Dhabi, in AED

Published market rates for IGCSE tuition in the UAE run from roughly AED 45 an hour at the student-tutor end to AED 650 for a premium named provider, with a qualified subject tutor working online sitting around AED 150 to 300. Those figures are the providers' own published numbers, listed below with the provider that publishes each band. They are market rates, not IB Gram prices.

Read the table by what the rate includes rather than by the number alone. A budget online rate typically buys supervised homework and little diagnostic work. A qualified-tutor rate buys a tutor who knows the syllabus code and the mark scheme, and who will send you the student's marked work. An in-home rate includes the drive, which in a city as spread out as Abu Dhabi is a material share of the hour, and usually comes with a minimum booking length to make the journey viable.

The premium bands exist for scarcity, not for quality in any measurable sense. A provider quoting AED 650 an hour is pricing a named individual whose availability is limited. For a tiered Cambridge Mathematics 0580 candidate who needs twenty hours of Extended paper technique, that premium buys nothing the qualified-tutor band does not. For a scarce syllabus such as 0607 International Mathematics or 0478 Computer Science, the scarcity is real and the quote will reflect it regardless of which provider you ask.

One important caution. Do not read any of these bands as a quote for your child. The variables in the next section move a number inside the band by a factor of two, and the only honest way to get a figure is to describe the subject, board, level, start date and frequency and have someone price that. IB Gram's own approach is a free trial lesson and then a quote against the real brief, with no card details taken to book the trial.

The seven things that move your number inside the band

A quote is the product of seven variables, and six of them are things a family can change. Knowing which is which is the difference between negotiating and guessing. The table sets out each factor, which direction it pushes the rate, and roughly how much, based on the spread between the published bands above.

Scarcity is the one you cannot argue with and the one online delivery actually solves. There are fewer Pearson Edexcel 4PH1 specialists than Cambridge 0625 specialists, and fewer 0607 International Mathematics tutors than 0580 tutors, in Abu Dhabi and everywhere else. An in-home provider facing that scarcity either charges the premium or sends a generalist. An online provider can widen the pool instead, which is the one structural cost advantage of the format rather than a marketing claim about it.

Exam proximity is the factor families control least well. A Year 11 student starting in February needs the same twenty hours as one starting in October, compressed into ten weeks instead of thirty, and compressed hours are harder to schedule and therefore priced higher. The saving available here is entirely about starting earlier, which is advice nobody wants in October and everybody wants in March.

Session length and frequency interact in a way that is worth planning around. A 90-minute session is usually priced below one and a half times the hourly rate, so the cost per contact hour falls, but IGCSE attention is poor past about 75 minutes. Two 60-minute sessions a week will outperform one 120-minute session at the same total price for almost every student. Buying the cheaper cost per hour is not the same as buying the cheaper cost per mark.

Hourly, package or term: the same tuition at three different totals

Providers in this market sell the same hours under three structures, and the headline rate tells you almost nothing about which is cheapest for you. Pay-as-you-go has the highest sticker rate and the lowest risk. Monthly packages drop the effective rate and move the risk onto you, because an unused session in a month that contained a school trip and a bout of flu is money spent on nothing. Term blocks sit in between and are the easiest to plan against a school calendar.

Market examples make the arithmetic concrete. A monthly package of eight online sessions at AED 799 works out near AED 100 a session, which looks excellent against a qualified-tutor hourly band of AED 150 to 300. It is excellent, if eight sessions happen. At five sessions it is AED 160 each and the advantage has gone. The question to ask before buying any package is what happens to an unused session, and the answers range from full rollover to outright expiry.

The in-home package figures in the market, AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour sessions, are worth decoding for a different reason. That is eight contact hours a month, so roughly AED 200 to 225 an hour, in the middle of the published in-home band. The structure is not a discount so much as a way of selling the two-hour minimum that travel requires. For an IGCSE student, two-hour blocks are the wrong shape: the last forty minutes of a two-hour after-school session rarely earns its place.

The comparison that actually decides this is cost per contact hour over a realistic number of weeks, including the weeks nothing will happen. Count the Abu Dhabi school calendar honestly: the winter and spring breaks, the exam weeks, the family travel, and the mock period when a student has no capacity for anything else. A thirty-week plan is usually a twenty-four-week plan, and pricing it as thirty is how a package stops being a saving.

04

What you stop paying for when the lesson is online

  • The travel element is the largest single difference between the two bands
  • In-home minimum bookings exist for the tutor's journey, not the student's attention span
  • Online removes the local-availability premium on scarce syllabuses
  • Budget once for headphones, a quiet corner and a way to show written working

The gap between the published in-home band of AED 180 to 500 and the online qualified-tutor band of AED 150 to 300 is not a quality gap. It is mostly transport, and in Abu Dhabi transport is expensive in time rather than money. A tutor travelling from the island to Khalifa City in the late afternoon spends a substantial part of the hour in the car, and that time appears in the rate whether the invoice itemises it or not.

Four specific costs disappear with online delivery. The drive itself, which is why in-home quotes rise with distance from the island. The minimum booking length that exists to make the drive worthwhile, usually ninety minutes or two hours. The scheduling rigidity, because an in-home tutor can only serve families whose slots fit a geographic route. And the scarcity premium, because the pool of available tutors shrinks to whoever is willing to drive to Al Reef at 5pm.

What does not disappear is the need for a working setup, and this is the honest cost of the online format. A student needs a quiet place, headphones, a device with a camera, and a way of showing written working, which in practice means a tablet with a stylus or a phone camera pointed at a page. Families in Al Reem Island apartments usually find the quiet place is the hard part. Budget for solving that properly once rather than losing fifteen minutes of every session to it.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; home tutoring at a family's address is a service offered only in India, and no tutor will arrive at an Abu Dhabi address. That is a deliberate position rather than a limitation, and the reason is in the table above: for the same money, a family in Al Shamkha can work with the specialist their child's syllabus needs rather than the generalist who is willing to make the drive.

05

How many subjects to buy tuition in, and in which order

Most families overspend by buying breadth. A student taking nine IGCSEs and struggling in five does not need five tutors; they need the two subjects closest to a grade boundary fixed first, because a grade moved is worth more than five subjects marginally improved. The order is a cost decision, and it is the single largest saving available on this page.

The method is simple and takes an evening. Take the mock results and write down, for each subject, how many marks sit between the student's score and the next grade boundary. Boundaries move between series, so use the school's own reported boundary or the published one from a recent series as an estimate rather than a fact. Then rank the subjects by marks-to-boundary, cheapest first. A subject four marks short is a different investment from one twenty-five marks short.

Then overlay technique against content. A subject where the student knows the material and loses marks on command words, diagram labelling or showing working is cheap to fix: six to eight sessions of paper technique. A subject where two whole topics are missing is expensive: that is a term of weekly work. Spending the first block on the cheap fixes buys two grade movements for the price of one expensive one, and it does so before the series rather than after it.

The subjects to protect rather than improve are the ones Ministry of Education equivalency depends on. The published British-track rule asks for five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic Education not counted among the five. A student comfortably above that in six subjects has a different risk profile from one sitting on the line in two. Check the current wording on the Ministry's own channel; equivalency is a process the authorities run, not something a tutoring service performs or can influence.

06

Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel: what the board does to the cost

Parents rarely choose the board; the school does. It still affects the quote, because the two boards structure papers differently and the pool of tutors fluent in each is different. Cambridge is the more widespread provision in Abu Dhabi's British curriculum schools, so Cambridge specialists are easier to find at the qualified-tutor band. Edexcel specialists in a given subject are a thinner pool locally, which pushes quotes upward unless the search widens beyond the emirate.

Two structural differences matter for what a tutor actually has to know. Cambridge runs tiered syllabuses in several subjects, where Core and Extended papers lead to different grade ceilings; a tutor who does not check which entry a student holds can prepare them for papers they will not sit. And Cambridge centres are each allocated to one of six administrative timetable zones, with the board stating plainly that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

On the Pearson side, exams are available in May/June and November each year. The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, which is why any date you plan around should be read from the live official timetable rather than from a tutoring page, including this one.

The practical cost advice is short. Confirm the board, the syllabus code and the tier before you pay for anything, in writing from the school if possible. Then ask any prospective tutor which code they teach and what the paper structure is for that code. A tutor who answers the second question precisely is worth the qualified-tutor band; one who answers it generally is being priced as a specialist for generalist work.

07

The entry deadline sits months before the exam, and missing it costs more than tuition

The most expensive mistake in this whole process is not overpaying for tuition. It is an administrative one: a missed entry deadline, a wrong tier, or a private-candidate registration that was never completed. Pearson publishes the shape of this clearly for its November 2026 series: the final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, entries close months earlier in the year, and results do not reach students until the following January, with November 2025 results landing on 22 January 2026. The Cambridge June series carries the same gap, with entries closing in the spring term and the date that binds your candidate printed on the statement of entry the centre issues.

Read that sequence again as a cost calculation. Entries close roughly ten weeks before the first paper. A family that decides in January to move a child from Core to Extended papers may be too late, and the ceiling on the grade is then fixed regardless of how much tuition is bought between January and the exam. Checking the entry in October is free. Discovering the tier in February costs a grade.

The same logic applies to private candidates, which is the route for a student not entered through their school, for a retake, or for an extra subject the school does not offer. A private candidate pays an entry fee to an examination centre, and that fee has nothing to do with tuition. It is a separate cost, paid to a different party, on the centre's own deadline, and centres set their own administrative charges on top of the board's fee. Ask the centre for the total in writing.

IB exam dates are the one area where no figure should be taken from a page like this. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. Abu Dhabi schools sit the May session; for any specific date, ask your child's IB coordinator or read it on ibo.org. Cambridge and Pearson dates above are sourced from the boards' own pages, and should still be checked against the live timetable before anyone plans around them.

Tuition cost in context, and where Abu Dhabi families waste money

  • Technique problems need a block of six to ten sessions, not a year of weekly ones
  • Confirm board, syllabus code, tier and text list in writing before the first session
  • Ask what happens to unused sessions before buying any monthly package
  • Exam entry fees go to a centre and are a separate cost from tuition
  • Ask in writing whether a quoted rate is inclusive or exclusive of VAT

Tuition is the second education cost in a UAE household, and it behaves differently from the first. School fees in the emirate are set and approved through the regulator's own processes, billed per term, and effectively fixed once a place is accepted. Tuition is discretionary, variable and almost entirely under a family's control, which is why it is where overspending happens: nobody audits it.

Four patterns account for most of the waste. Buying weekly tuition in a subject where the problem is technique, so paying for thirty sessions when eight would have done. Buying tuition for the wrong qualification, usually by booking a First Language English tutor for a Second Language candidate or preparing the wrong Literature texts. Buying a package and using half of it. And buying a premium named tutor for a non-scarce subject, where the band above AED 300 purchases availability rather than anything that appears on the mark scheme.

The fifth, which is less obvious, is buying too late. Compressed hours cost more per hour and deliver less per hour, because a student in March is also sitting mocks, finishing coursework and losing sleep. The same twenty hours bought between October and January are cheaper to schedule, cheaper to price, and land on a student with capacity to absorb them. The calendar is the cheapest lever on this page and the least used.

On tax, one line only, because more than that would be guessing. The UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees is not stated here, since doing so responsibly needs a Federal Tax Authority citation. What a family should do is ask any provider whether a quoted AED figure is inclusive or exclusive of VAT and get the answer in writing before committing. A quote that does not say is not a quote.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Abu Dhabi

Where a family lives in Abu Dhabi changes what in-home tuition costs them and barely changes what online tuition costs. These are the communities where that difference is largest.

Khalifa City

Large villa communities a long drive from the island. A travel-inclusive in-home rate quoted here sits near the top of the published band, and the minimum booking is usually longer to make the journey worthwhile.

Al Reef

Further out again, near the airport road. Families here report the widest gap between online and in-home quotes in the emirate, and the longest wait for a subject specialist to be available at all.

Saadiyat Island

Short distances to several schools and a concentrated tutor market, so in-home quotes are closer to the online band here than anywhere else. The scarcity premium still applies to Edexcel and Additional Maths specialists.

Al Reem Island

High-rise apartments where the practical constraint is a quiet room rather than travel. Online tuition costs the same as it does on the mainland; headphones and a fixed study corner are the real setup cost.

Al Raha Beach and Al Raha Gardens

A dense Year 10 and 11 population in one corridor. The common cost-saving move here is two siblings on consecutive slots with the same tutor, which halves the scheduling overhead without sharing a lesson.

Yas Island

A newer family population with many mid-year arrivals, which means a lot of transfers into Year 10 part-way through a two-year course. Catch-up blocks are priced by weeks remaining, not by the hour alone.

Al Mushrif and Al Bateen

Established island neighbourhoods with long-standing schools nearby and the emirate's deepest local tutor market. Even so, a specific board specialist for a scarce subject is usually found online rather than locally.

Al Shamkha and Al Falah

Mainland communities where in-home availability for a named syllabus is thin. Online delivery removes the scarcity premium that distance creates, which is the whole of the cost argument in these two areas.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Abu Dhabi

The island: Al Bateen, Al Mushrif and Al Rawdah

Long-established schools running Cambridge and Edexcel programmes, with the densest concentration of Year 10 and 11 students in the emirate. Families here are usually comparing three or four providers at once, which is the right way to find out where in the band a quote actually sits.

  • The British International School Abu Dhabi
  • Al Bateen Academy
  • American Community School of Abu Dhabi
  • Abu Dhabi International School
  • Al Muna Academy

Khalifa City, Al Raha and Yas Island

The mainland corridor holds much of the emirate's secondary population across a wide spread of curricula. Travel-inclusive in-home quotes rise sharply across this corridor, and it is where online delivery changes the arithmetic most clearly for a scarce subject.

  • Al Yasmina Academy
  • Raha International School
  • GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi
  • West Yas Academy
  • Noya British School

Saadiyat, Al Reem and the newer communities

Newer schools serving fast-growing residential areas, with intakes that change composition year on year. Mid-year transfers into Year 10 are common, and those are the families for whom a weeks-remaining calculation matters more than an hourly rate.

  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • Repton School Abu Dhabi
  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • Mamoura British Academy

Schools are named only as context for the Abu Dhabi secondary market. IB Gram has no affiliation with, endorsement from or relationship to any school listed, and names no school as a client.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the brief, not the subject

Board, syllabus code, tier, current mock mark, the marks-to-boundary gap and the weeks remaining. That is six lines and it produces a real quote instead of a band. Providers who cannot price against that brief are quoting an average rather than your child's situation.

  2. 02

A free trial lesson with the diagnostic in it

The trial is a real session on a real past paper question, not a sales call. You get the tutor's written read on where the marks are going and whether the gap is content or technique. No card details are taken to book it, and nothing is owed if you stop there.

  3. 03

Agree the shape before the rate

Weekly across the course, a six-to-ten-week pre-series block, or a fortnightly review. The shape decides the total far more than the hourly figure does, so settle it first. Then price the shape, including what happens to a session cancelled with 24 hours' notice.

  4. 04

Measure against the mark scheme, not against effort

Each session ends on a timed question marked against the published mark scheme, and you receive the mark and the reason. Over six weeks the pattern of lost marks either shifts or it does not, which is a clearer basis for continuing or stopping than how the sessions felt.

  5. 05

Review the spend at the mock results

Mocks are the natural audit point. Re-rank the subjects by marks-to-boundary, drop what is now safe, and move the hours to whatever is still short. Most families find at least one subject they can stop paying for, which funds the one that still needs work.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Rates published with their source

Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the provider that published it and the tier it describes. Three of the six competitor pages reviewed publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars. A parent comparing quotes needs the bands and the attribution, not a promise of affordability.

The scarcity premium removed

Online delivery widens the tutor pool past the people willing to drive to Al Reef at 5pm. For a scarce syllabus such as 0607 International Mathematics or Pearson 4PH1, that is the difference between a specialist at band rate and a generalist at specialist rate.

Priced on the brief, not on a rate card

A quote follows the subject, board, tier, start date and frequency, after a free trial lesson. A published rate card would be wrong for most families reading it, which is why we do not keep one, and why we will tell you when a cheaper shape of booking would serve you better.

The administrative traps named

Entry deadlines sit months before papers, Cambridge centres sit in one of six timetable zones, and a Core entry caps a grade. Those three facts cost families more than any hourly rate, and no competitor page reviewed for this project mentions a single one of them.

A clear line on the student's own work

Tutors teach, mark and give feedback on the student's own answers. They do not write, redraft to completion or produce coursework, Internal Assessments or Extended Essays. In a market where one provider sells completed Internal Assessments outright, this is worth stating rather than assuming.

Coverage limits disclosed

If no UAE-based tutor covers a syllabus in the slot you want, we say so and offer the alternative, which may be a tutor based outside the UAE teaching in your time zone. That is disclosed before you book rather than discovered afterwards.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Abu Dhabi: your questions answered

What does IGCSE online tuition cost per hour in Abu Dhabi?+

Published market bands run from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour for a student or graduate tutor, with EdFlik advertising from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52, and from AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. Subject specialists sit at AED 200 to 450 or more, with TutorChase at AED 270, and premium named providers reach AED 650. Those are the providers' own figures rather than IB Gram prices. Where your quote lands inside a band depends on subject scarcity, tier, exam proximity and frequency.

Why do two tutors quote different rates for the same IGCSE subject?+

Because the subject name is not the product. A Cambridge 0625 Physics tutor and a Pearson 4PH1 Physics tutor are preparing different papers, and the pool fluent in each differs in size. On top of that sit tier, exam proximity, session length, number of subjects and credential. A quote twice another is usually explained by two of those, most often scarcity and proximity. Ask each provider which of the seven factors they are pricing. One that can answer is quoting your child's situation; one that cannot is quoting an average and hoping.

Is online IGCSE tuition cheaper than a home tutor in Abu Dhabi?+

On the published bands, yes: qualified online tutors sit at AED 150 to 300 an hour against AED 180 to 500 for in-home one-to-one with travel included. Most of that gap is the journey rather than the teaching, and in an emirate as spread out as Abu Dhabi the journey is substantial. In-home delivery also usually carries a minimum booking of ninety minutes or two hours so the drive pays for itself, which inflates the total beyond the hourly difference. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video.

Do IGCSE tuition rates go up closer to the May exam series?+

Effective rates do, for two reasons. Compressed hours are harder to schedule, so availability tightens and quotes move to the top of the band. And the same twenty hours delivered in ten weeks rather than thirty lands on a student who is also sitting mocks and finishing coursework, so each hour achieves less. The calendar is the cheapest lever available to a family: buying the block in the autumn term costs less and works better than buying it in March. That is unwelcome advice in October and the most requested advice in March.

How many subjects should we actually pay for tuition in?+

Usually two, not five. Take the mock results and write down how many marks separate the student from the next grade boundary in each subject, then rank them cheapest first. A subject four marks short is a different investment from one twenty-five marks short. Overlay technique against content: a subject where the material is known and marks go on command words or working takes six to eight sessions, while two missing topics take a term. Fixing two cheap gaps buys two grade movements for less than one expensive one.

Does a longer session cost less per hour?+

Usually yes, and that is not the same as being better value. A 90-minute session is typically priced below one and a half times the hourly rate, so the cost per contact hour falls. IGCSE attention, though, degrades noticeably past about 75 minutes, and the last stretch of a two-hour after-school session rarely earns its place. Two 60-minute sessions a week will outperform one 120-minute session at the same total spend for most students. Buy the cheaper cost per mark rather than the cheaper cost per hour.

Is a monthly package better value than paying per session?+

Only if you use the sessions. A market package of eight online sessions at AED 799 works out near AED 100 each against a qualified-tutor band of AED 150 to 300, which is a real saving at eight sessions and no saving at five. Count the Abu Dhabi school calendar honestly before committing: winter and spring breaks, mock weeks, family travel. A thirty-week plan is usually twenty-four weeks in practice. Ask what happens to an unused session, because the answers in this market range from full rollover to outright expiry.

What is not included in an hourly IGCSE tuition rate?+

Three things, commonly. Exam entry fees, which are paid to an examination centre rather than a tutor and carry the centre's own administrative charges on top of the board's fee. Materials, where a provider expects the student to have the textbook and past papers. And cancellation, where a session called off at short notice may still be billed. On tax, ask in writing whether a quoted AED figure is inclusive or exclusive of VAT; a quote that does not say is incomplete, and the UAE treatment of tuition fees is not something to take from a tutoring page.

Do Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel subjects cost different amounts to tutor?+

In Abu Dhabi, often yes, because of supply rather than difficulty. Cambridge provision is more widespread locally, so Cambridge specialists in a given subject are easier to book at the qualified-tutor band. Pearson Edexcel specialists are a thinner pool per subject in the emirate, which pushes quotes upward unless the search widens beyond it. That is the clearest cost case for online delivery: the 4PH1 or 4CH1 specialist your child needs may simply not live in Abu Dhabi, and a travel-inclusive in-home rate cannot create one.

How much does it cost to sit IGCSE exams as a private candidate in Abu Dhabi?+

That cost sits entirely outside tuition and is set by the examination centre, not by any tutor. A private candidate pays the board's entry fee plus whatever administrative charge the centre adds, on the centre's own deadline, which falls ahead of the board's. Pearson's November 2026 series is sat on a final timetable running late October to 19 November 2026, with entries closing months earlier in the year and the centre's internal cut-off sitting ahead of that again. Ask the centre for the total in writing, per subject, and confirm the deadline before paying for any tuition aimed at that series.

Does the quoted AED rate include VAT?+

That is a question to put to each provider in writing, and the answer belongs in the quote. This page does not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees, because doing so responsibly requires a Federal Tax Authority citation rather than an opinion from a tutoring site. What a family can do is insist that any figure quoted says explicitly whether it is inclusive or exclusive, and that any provider claiming to charge VAT shows a tax registration number. A quote that is silent on this is not comparable with one that is not.

How do we avoid paying for tuition we do not need?+

Audit at the mocks. Re-rank every subject by marks-to-boundary, drop whatever is now comfortably safe, and move those hours to what is still short. Most families find at least one subject they can stop paying for, which funds the one that still needs work. The other three savings are structural: diagnose technique against content before buying a weekly slot, confirm the board, code, tier and text list in writing, and start the block in the autumn rather than in February when the same hours cost more and achieve less.

Can two siblings share one online IGCSE session?+

Sharing a one-to-one session rarely works, because the whole value is that the teaching follows one student's errors. What does work, and is common in the Al Raha and Khalifa City corridors, is two consecutive slots with the same tutor on the same evening. The administrative overhead halves, the tutor already has both students' context, and multi-subject or multi-student bookings generally attract a lower effective rate. If a genuinely shared lesson is what you want, ask about small-group provision and compare it honestly against one-to-one for your child.

How many weeks of IGCSE tuition does a grade change take?+

It depends entirely on whether the gap is technique or content, and no honest provider will promise a grade. Where a student knows the material and loses marks on command words, diagram labelling or not showing working, six to eight focused sessions can move a mark total meaningfully. Where two topics are genuinely missing, that is a term of weekly work. The useful measurement is not weeks but the pattern of lost marks on timed questions marked against the published mark scheme: if that pattern has not shifted in six sessions, the plan should change rather than continue.

Which details turn an IGCSE price band into a real quote?+

Six lines. The board and syllabus code, for example Cambridge 0620 or Pearson 4CH1. The tier, Core or Extended. The current mock mark and, if the school will share it, the marks to the next boundary. The weeks remaining to the series. The number of subjects you are considering. And your realistic weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time. A provider who prices against that is quoting your child. A provider who answers with a single hourly figure before reading it is quoting an average.

Is group IGCSE tuition in Abu Dhabi worth the saving?+

Sometimes, and the test is what the student's problem is. Group provision is cheaper per student and works reasonably for content coverage, where several students need the same topic taught. It works poorly for technique repair, because the teaching has to follow one student's specific pattern of lost marks and a group cannot do that. A sensible mixed plan is group or school support for content and a short one-to-one block for paper technique, rather than paying one-to-one rates for something a class could deliver.

Get a number that belongs to your child

The bands on this page are the market's, published by the providers named, and they are wide for a real reason: a Year 10 Business Studies 0450 student starting in September and a Year 11 Physics 4PH1 student starting in February are not the same purchase. Send the six lines, board, code, tier, mock mark, weeks remaining and your realistic weekly slot, and take a free trial lesson with no card details required. You will get a written read on whether the gap is technique or content, a recommended shape of booking, and a price for that shape. If a cheaper shape would serve your child better, we will say so before you pay for the expensive one.
