IB Revision Classes in Abu Dhabi

IB revision classes in Abu Dhabi are bought in blocks, not in single hours, and that is why the quotes families receive vary so wildly. This page prices the block. What a six-week run costs against a sixteen-week run, what group size does to the per-student figure, which Diploma subjects are dearest to staff in this emirate, and which weeks you are actually paying a premium for. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Abu Dhabi

Revision is sold by the block, so price the block

The reason two Abu Dhabi families get quotes of AED 3,000 and AED 18,000 for the same thing is that neither quote is for the same thing. Revision is not an hourly product. It is a block with a length, a frequency, a group size and a marking load, and changing any one of those moves the total more than the headline hourly rate does. So this page starts with the block and works back to the hour, which is the opposite of how the rest of this market presents it.

The published market figures give you the anchors. Bestimate's UAE estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run roughly AED 240-600 a month at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000-2,000 and above for specialist exam-year work. Advertised packages in the market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Per hour, UAE rates run roughly AED 33-65 budget, AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor online, and AED 200-450 and above for IB and IGCSE specialists, with one premium provider at AED 650. Those are other people's prices, read in October 2026, published here because almost nobody in this search results page publishes any.

Now the arithmetic that matters. A full Diploma revision run is about sixteen weeks before the May papers. At one ninety-minute session a week on one subject, that is twenty-four hours. At the qualified-tutor band that is roughly AED 3,600-7,200 for the subject. Two subjects across the same sixteen weeks is forty-eight hours, and the total doubles while the calendar does not get longer, which is why most families revise two subjects properly rather than four badly. A compressed six-week run at two sessions a week is eighteen hours, costs less in total and more per week, and buys intensity in place of time.

What changes the number specifically in Abu Dhabi is staffing depth rather than any emirate-level price difference. The emirate has fewer IB World Schools than Dubai and therefore a thinner resident pool in the Higher Level subjects families most want revised: Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, Chemistry, Physics, Economics. Thin supply is priced. A Biology Standard Level revision block is cheap to staff from Al Reef to Al Ain; a Computer Science Higher Level block in February is not, anywhere.

IB Gram delivers revision to Abu Dhabi families as one-to-one online tuition on Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we run in India only. For a revision block that is a structural advantage, because the whole value of revision is the specialist who knows where marks go in that exact paper, and geography has nothing to do with who that person is.

At a glance

  • Sixteen-week run, one subject, weekly 90 minutes: about 24 hours of teaching
  • Six-week intensive, one subject, twice weekly: about 18 hours, higher cost per week
  • UAE qualified-tutor band: roughly AED 150-300 per hour (Unitors, October 2026)
  • UAE specialist band: roughly AED 200-450+ per hour (TutorChase, Bestimate)
  • Group of three cuts the per-student rate but also cuts the marking per student
  • Staffing depth, not postcode, is what moves the Abu Dhabi figure
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Revision means something different in each IB programme, and the cost follows that difference. Below is what is actually being revised at each stage, and what the emirate's provision looks like.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three Higher Level and three Standard Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Each subject grade comes from externally marked papers plus an internally assessed component, and the bonus points come from a TOK and Extended Essay matrix. Revision here is paper-specific: the question is not whether the student knows the topic but whether they can produce the marks the paper allocates within the time the paper allows.

Abu Dhabi DP cohorts are concentrated in a modest number of schools on the island and along the Khalifa City and Al Raha corridor. Cohort sizes mean school-run revision sessions are often generalist rather than paper-specific, which is precisely the gap a paid revision block is being asked to fill, and it is worth asking the school what it already provides before paying for anything.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria per subject on an eight-point scale, with the Personal Project in the final year. Most MYP schools run no external examination, so revision here is about criterion literacy rather than paper technique: knowing what criterion C actually rewards and what it never rewards, and writing to it on purpose.

Because MYP revision is criterion-led, a block here is shorter and cheaper than a Diploma block, usually four to six sessions ahead of a summative assessment window. Abu Dhabi families often buy their first revision block at this stage, which is also the cheapest point at which the algebraic fluency gap that later ruins a Mathematics Paper 1 can be closed.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary inquiry across six themes, with the exhibition in the final year. There is no revision in the examination sense at all. What a tutor can usefully do is build number fluency and reading stamina, which are the two things that decide how hard the MYP years feel later.

Buying revision classes at PYP level is usually the wrong purchase and we will say so. Where an Abu Dhabi family does want support at this stage, a short weekly maths or reading block is the honest version, priced at the lower end of the market because it does not require a Diploma subject specialist.

TOKAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

The TOK exhibition and essay plus the 4,000-word Extended Essay together feed up to three bonus points through a published matrix. These are the components most often left out of a revision budget and the ones most likely to cost a Diploma total its last point, because they are assessed against criteria most students never read closely.

Revision support here is criterion teaching and feedback on the student's own drafts, never writing or editing to completion. Abu Dhabi families often discover in the final term that the bonus-point matrix is where the missing point lives, and a short block on it costs far less than a subject block.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Revision costs are driven by which subject you are revising, because the staffing market for each is different. These are the Diploma subjects Abu Dhabi families most often book a revision block in, with the paper that justifies the spend.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The most revised subject and the dearest to staff at Higher Level. Revision concentrates on Paper 1, where algebraic accuracy without a calculator decides the grade, and on Paper 3 at Higher Level, which asks the student to follow an unfamiliar extended argument under time.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Technology-permitted throughout, which makes the revision load verbal rather than computational. Blocks focus on interpreting a model and commenting on its limitations, because students lose marks describing a correct statistical result in language that earns nothing.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics and organic mechanisms dominate the revision list. A block here is heavy on multi-step calculation accuracy and on navigating the data booklet quickly, which is a drilled skill and not a conceptual one.

Physics

HL and SL

Fields, induction and quantum arrive late in the second year and are consistently the weakest topics at revision time. Extended-response reasoning steps, not final answers, are where the marks sit, so revision is as much writing practice as physics.

Biology

HL and SL

The largest content volume in the Diploma sciences, so revision is retrieval under timing rather than re-teaching. Command-term discipline carries the grade: outline, explain, distinguish and evaluate each pay differently.

Economics

HL and SL

Higher Level Paper 3, the quantitative paper, is the single most common reason a revision block gets booked in this subject. Diagram labelling is the cheapest mark recovery available anywhere in the Diploma.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 guided analysis of an unseen text is the revisable part, because it rewards a repeatable method. Revision installs that method and then runs it against unseen extracts until the structure is automatic.

Business Management

HL and SL

Students name a framework and then fail to apply it to the stimulus, which caps the grade in the description bands. A revision block is a sequence of timed case responses with structural feedback.

Arabic B

HL and SL

Productive skills decide the grade while most private revision is receptive, which is the wrong way round. Blocks weight timed writing in the required text types and oral rehearsal with sentence-level correction.

Psychology

HL and SL

Study recall is usually sound and evaluation is thin, which holds answers in the middle bands. Revision targets methodological critique and the Higher Level extensions, which are routinely under-revised.

Geography

HL and SL

Case-study precision separates the top bands: named places, dated events, figures. Revision converts a bank of vague examples into a small number of exact ones the student can deploy under time.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Pseudocode conventions under timing and the Higher Level abstract data structures topic. The hardest subject in this list to staff in Abu Dhabi and often the most improvable per hour spent.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

These are the block shapes families actually buy, with what each one costs you in hours and what it costs the student in weekly load.

Sixteen-week subject block

One ninety-minute session a week on one subject from the start of the final term through to the papers, about twenty-four hours in total. The cheapest route per grade point because the student has time to do the practice between sessions, which is where revision actually works.

  • About 24 teaching hours across one subject
  • Written feedback on one timed piece between each session
  • Fixed weekly slot on Gulf Standard Time
  • Progress review at weeks four, eight and twelve

Six-week intensive

Two sessions a week across the final six weeks, about eighteen hours, built entirely on full timed papers and the mark scheme. Costs less in total than the long block and more per week, and buys intensity in place of the time that no longer exists.

  • Full papers under exam conditions, marked and returned
  • No new content unless a gap blocks a whole topic
  • Two fixed evenings a week, agreed in advance
  • Higher cost per week than the long block

Paired revision

Two students at the same level in the same subject, usually siblings or classmates, sharing a session. The per-student rate drops, and so does the individual attention and the marking per student. Honest trade, stated plainly rather than sold as a bargain.

  • Lower cost per student than one-to-one
  • Works only where both students are genuinely at the same level
  • Marking load per student is roughly halved
  • Not suitable where one student needs content re-teaching

Component block

Four to six sessions on one named paper: Mathematics Higher Level Paper 3, Economics Higher Level Paper 3, an English Paper 1 unseen method. The lowest-cost intervention in this list and often the one with the best return, where mock evidence shows a single paper dragging the subject grade.

  • Four to six sessions, one paper format only
  • Requires mock component marks to be worth doing
  • Cheapest option that can still move a subject grade
  • Not enough where two or more components are weak

01

What an IB revision block costs in Abu Dhabi, by length

An IB revision block in Abu Dhabi costs between roughly AED 600 and roughly AED 11,000 for one subject, and the spread is almost entirely about how many hours you buy rather than what an hour costs. The table below prices the common block shapes using published UAE market bands as read in October 2026, so you can see the total before you discuss a rate.

Read the table by row rather than by column. The cheapest row is a four-session component block, which is also the row most families never consider, because the market sells subjects rather than papers. If mock evidence shows Economics Higher Level at a 5 with Paper 3 the only weak component, four sessions on Paper 3 is a better purchase than twenty-four hours on Economics, and it costs a sixth as much. The most expensive row is two Higher Level subjects across sixteen weeks, which is a genuine commitment and should only be entered with a reason more specific than wanting better grades.

Two figures are not in the table because they are not tutoring costs. Exam entry is handled and charged by your school or exam centre. And school-run revision, where it exists, is often included in fees you are already paying, which makes it the first thing to check rather than the last. A parent who buys a sixteen-week block for a subject the school is already revising intensively has bought the same thing twice.

For context on where tutoring sits in a family's education spend: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package. Abu Dhabi fee regulation sits with ADEK and operates separately, but the shape of the household budget is the same across the Gulf. School fees are the fixed cost. Revision is the variable one, which is exactly why it should be scoped to a named component and a named number of weeks rather than booked open-ended.

02

Why group size changes the price more than the tutor does

  • Ask the group size as a number, not as small group
  • Ask who marks the timed work and how quickly it returns
  • Ask what happens to the rate if the group shrinks
  • Paired revision only works at genuinely matched levels
  • Marking time outside the lesson is in the rate either way

The biggest single lever on a revision quote is not the tutor's seniority. It is how many students are in the room and how much marking the tutor does between sessions. A group of six at a tuition centre and a one-to-one block with the same teacher are different products at different prices because the marking load per student differs by a factor of six, and marking is where revision feedback actually lives.

So price the marking, not just the contact time. A ninety-minute one-to-one session with a full marked paper returned before the next session involves perhaps forty minutes of the tutor's time outside the lesson. That is real work and it is in the rate whether anyone itemises it or not. A group session where the paper is marked collectively, or self-marked against a scheme, costs less and tells the student less about their own specific error pattern. Both are legitimate; they are not interchangeable.

Paired revision is the useful middle, and the condition on it is strict. Two students genuinely at the same level in the same subject, with similar error patterns, can share a session productively and halve the cost each. Two students at different levels cannot, and the session degrades into the tutor teaching one and parking the other. We will say no to a pairing that will not work rather than take the booking, because an eight-week block that is wasted costs the family more than a quoted rate difference ever saves.

One caution about the market generally. Several providers in this space advertise a low group rate and a high one-to-one rate on the same page without saying what the group size is. Ask the number. Ask what happens if two of the group drop out, and whether the rate then changes. Ask who marks the timed work and when it comes back. Those three questions separate a revision product from a room with a teacher in it.

03

The sixteen weeks before the May papers, counted backwards

UAE IB schools sit the May session, so a Diploma revision block is a subtraction from May rather than an addition to today. Nobody in this search results page publishes a revision calendar, which is odd, because sequencing is most of what a parent is buying. The table below gives the order of the weeks and what each block of weeks should actually contain.

Note what the table does not contain: specific dates. The IB's own website blocks automated checking, so no IB exam or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB directly, and an unconfirmed date on a page a parent plans around is worse than no date. Confirm the window with your school's IB coordinator or on ibo.org. For Cambridge and Pearson qualifications the dated equivalents are available and sourced: Pearson's International GCSE November 2026 timetable ran to 19 November 2026, with the November 2025 results reaching students on 22 January 2026.

The sequencing mistake we see most often in this emirate is running content revision too late. A block still teaching new topics in the final fortnight has been mis-scoped, because at that point every hour spent on content is an hour not spent on timed execution, and timed execution is what the mark scheme rewards. The reverse mistake also exists: starting full papers in week one, before there is enough content in place for a paper to produce useful diagnostic information rather than just a low score.

Build the known losses into the plan at the start. Abu Dhabi families travel in the school holidays, and the holidays sit inside the revision window. Where Ramadan falls in the block, sessions move to post-Iftar rather than stopping, and the family rhythm reorganises for a month. A sixteen-week plan with four weeks of travel in it is a twelve-week plan, and discovering that in January is free while discovering it in April is not.

Online revision against the in-home version, priced

Families searching for revision classes in Abu Dhabi often picture a tutor at the dining table. That is a real market and it has real prices: Bestimate puts UAE in-home one-to-one at roughly AED 180-350 an hour, independent home tutors ask AED 200-500, and advertised in-home monthly packages of four two-hour sessions run around AED 1,599-1,799. Online qualified tutoring sits at roughly AED 150-300. The gap is mostly travel, paid for whether the invoice says so or not.

For revision specifically there is a second cost that does not appear on any invoice. Insisting the tutor arrives in person narrows your shortlist to people who teach the exact subject at the exact level and live within a sensible drive of your community. In Khalifa City for Biology Standard Level, that constraint is survivable. For Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Higher Level Paper 3, or Computer Science Higher Level, it usually produces either nobody or a generalist teaching a level below the one being revised, and a generalist running a revision block is an expensive way to feel organised.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. Revision for Abu Dhabi families is delivered one-to-one over live video, and home tutoring is a service we provide only in India. We state it plainly because the opposite wastes your time. For a sixteen-week block the online route also protects continuity in ways the in-home one cannot: no session lost to Mussafah traffic or a sandstorm, every worked solution captured on a shared screen and reopenable in week fourteen, and sessions that keep running while the family travels.

There is one in-home advantage worth naming honestly, because pretending otherwise is not useful. A student who will not sit down without someone physically present sometimes does better with a person in the room, regardless of that person's subject depth. If that is your child, say so early. The right answer may be a local generalist for accountability plus a short online component block with a specialist, which is cheaper than either option bought at full length.

What the mock evidence has to show before a block is worth buying

  • Ask the school for component-level mock marks, not the grade
  • Flat under-performance means execution; buy the intensive
  • One collapsed component means the component block, not the subject
  • A mock sat before the syllabus finished is not evidence
  • A weak internal assessment mark needs the subject teacher first

A revision block bought without component-level mock evidence is a block priced on a guess. The useful document is not the mock grade; it is the breakdown showing how each paper and the internally assessed component contributed. Most Abu Dhabi schools will provide it if asked, and it takes five minutes to read.

Three patterns recur, and each points at a differently priced block. A flat profile, every component a little under target, usually means timing and execution rather than knowledge, and responds to the six-week intensive built on full papers. A single collapsed component against sound performance elsewhere points at the four-session component block, which is the cheapest useful purchase in this market. A weak internally assessed mark with strong papers is the awkward case, because the remedy depends on the subject and on the school's internal deadlines, and it needs the subject teacher's input first.

The fourth possibility is that no block is needed yet. Where a mock was sat early, before a third of the syllabus had been taught, the score is not evidence of anything except the calendar. Buying sixteen weeks of revision on the back of a mock in October is often buying re-teaching of content the school has not finished teaching. We will say so, and the honest recommendation is sometimes to wait six weeks and rebook on better information.

Practically: put the mock breakdown next to the student's internally assessed marks and ask one question. Were the mocks consistently stronger than the timed work, or consistently weaker? Stronger mocks than timed work points at execution. Weaker points at content. Those are different blocks at different prices, and knowing which you have is worth more than the first five hours of anyone's time.

Who is legally allowed to run paid revision in Abu Dhabi

Private tutoring in the UAE is permitted work, and a parent can verify it. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

Two things follow from that, and neither is in most providers' marketing. The permit is free, so anyone describing a permit fee as a cost driver in their rate is inventing one. And no fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you. Khaleej Times reported that the ministry did not specify fine amounts or detail the penalties; a figure circulating as a specific maximum could not be verified and is left out of this page deliberately.

A tutoring operation with premises and staff is a different legal animal from an individual tutor. A training institute in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. Abu Dhabi private schools are licensed and inspected by ADEK, which u.ae describes as supervising the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. ADEK regulates schools, not tutoring rates, and approves no individual tutor.

One boundary to apply before you book. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff have been reported as barring teachers from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct makes the same point. So the apparently convenient move, paying your child's own subject teacher to run the revision block, is the one to avoid. IB Gram holds no ADEK, KHDA, MoE, IB or Cambridge approval, accreditation or partnership and does not claim any.

07

Revision for TOK, the Extended Essay and the internal assessments

  • TOK and the Extended Essay feed up to three bonus points via a published matrix
  • Criterion literacy is the cheapest grade movement in the Diploma
  • A tutor reviews the student's own draft; it never writes any part of it
  • No grade guarantee appears anywhere on IB Gram's pages
  • Official papers and mark schemes are linked, never redistributed

The components most often left out of a revision budget are the ones most likely to cost a Diploma total its last point. The TOK exhibition and essay plus the Extended Essay feed up to three bonus points through a published matrix, and the internally assessed component in each subject carries real weight within that subject's grade. None of this is examined in May in the way a paper is, which is exactly why it drops out of a revision plan built around papers.

What revision means here is criterion teaching. Each of these components is marked against named criteria with published mark allocations, and most students have never read them closely enough to write to them on purpose. A short block that walks the criteria, shows what each one rewards and what it never rewards, and then gives feedback on the student's own draft against those criteria is among the cheapest grade movements available in the Diploma.

The boundary is firm and worth stating before anyone asks. A tutor may teach the assessment criteria, discuss whether a research question is answerable in the word count, read a draft the student has written and give feedback on structure, argument and evidence, teach referencing conventions, and mark practice work. A tutor may not write any part of the work, supply text to insert, rewrite a paragraph into its final form, choose the research question outright or generate data. A breach is a malpractice finding against the student, not the tutor.

That line is not boilerplate in this market. There is a provider selling completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750. That is not a cheaper revision block; it is an expulsion risk with a price attached, and it is the reason to be sceptical of any revision offer phrased around a guaranteed outcome. We also do not reproduce or supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson papers, mark schemes or syllabus documents as downloads; we cite them and link to the official source, which is both lawful and keeps the student on the current version.

08

Ramadan, travel and the weeks you will actually lose

  • Gulf Standard Time; the usable weekday window is roughly 16:00 to 21:00
  • Ramadan shifts sessions to post-Iftar for the month rather than cancelling them
  • Spring travel typically removes three to five sessions from a long block
  • Online sessions continue while the family is abroad; in-home ones do not
  • Scope the block to the weeks you will actually have, not the weeks on the calendar

A sixteen-week block running into May crosses the whole shape of the UAE spring, and the calendar realities are not decoration. Sessions run on Gulf Standard Time, and the usable weekday window for an Abu Dhabi student after the commute home is roughly 16:00 to 21:00, narrower in Khalifa City and Al Reef than on the island or in Al Raha because of the school run.

Where Ramadan falls inside the block, the sessions move rather than stop. School days shorten, the household reorganises around Iftar, and for many students the productive study window shifts to after the evening meal. A plan that keeps insisting on a 17:00 slot through the month will quietly lose four to six sessions, which is a quarter of a sixteen-week block. Moving to post-Iftar for the month preserves the continuity, and continuity is the whole mechanism by which revision works.

Travel is the larger practical risk because it is predictable and families plan it before they plan revision. Spring holidays sit inside the revision window, and Abu Dhabi households travel in them. Online delivery survives that: a session runs from a hotel room in Kerala or Kent as well as it runs from Al Bateen, allowing for the time difference. An in-home arrangement does not survive it at all, because the tutor is in Khalifa City and the student is not.

So agree the week-by-week shape at the start and write down the weeks you already know will be lost, before the first session rather than after the tenth. A sixteen-week plan with four known lost weeks is a twelve-week plan and should be scoped as one. Building the losses in costs nothing in January. Discovering them in April costs the thing you were buying.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Abu Dhabi

Where a family lives changes when a revision session can start and therefore how many sessions a week is realistic, which is the real constraint on a block. These are the parts of the emirate the bookings come from.

Abu Dhabi Island

Dense apartment living and short school runs. Sessions start early in the evening, but a quiet room for ninety minutes is the limiting factor, and families often shift to 19:30 once younger siblings are settled.

Khalifa City

Villa communities with a 20-40 minute school run to the island. A 16:30 start is realistic here only on days without an activity, which is why most Khalifa City blocks settle on two fixed evenings rather than flexible slots.

Al Raha and Al Raha Beach

Close enough to the island schools that students are home by 15:45, which makes this the one part of the emirate where a twice-weekly block genuinely fits without eating into sleep.

Saadiyat Island

Small DP cohorts mean few classmates revising the same Higher Level subject, so there is no study group to lean on and the block carries more weight than it would in a larger cohort.

Yas Island

Newer schools with younger DP cohorts, so school-side revision provision is still maturing. Families here more often buy a block to cover something the school has not yet built.

Al Reef and Al Shamkha

Long commutes from mainland communities push sessions later, and during Ramadan the practical window moves to post-Iftar entirely. Arabic B and Mathematics blocks cluster here.

Al Ain

Ninety minutes inland, under the same regulator, with almost no resident Higher Level Diploma specialists. Online delivery is the only route to a paper-specific revision tutor in this catchment.

Al Mushrif and Al Bateen

Established central districts with a high share of students holding conditional UK and UAE offers, which is the circumstance that justifies a sixteen-week block rather than a six-week one.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Island and Saadiyat

The emirate's longest-established international provision, where school-run revision is usually structured and worth checking before buying anything. Named here as context for the local education landscape only.

  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • The British School Al Khubairat
  • Repton School Abu Dhabi
  • GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi

Khalifa City, Al Raha and the mainland

Larger cohorts and broader Higher Level choice, but revision provision is spread thinner across more subjects, which is where the gaps a paid block fills tend to appear. Listed as ecosystem context.

  • Raha International School
  • Al Yasmina Academy
  • Al Bateen Academy
  • GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi
  • Yasmina British Academy

Al Ain

A separate catchment under the same regulator with the thinnest local specialist pool in the emirate, so revision blocks here are almost always delivered online. Context only.

  • Al Ain English Speaking School
  • Emirates National Schools Al Ain
  • Liwa International School Al Ain
  • The Glenelg School of Abu Dhabi

Schools are named only as context for the Abu Dhabi education landscape; no affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied, and IB Gram is not connected to any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send the mock breakdown

Share the component-level mock marks, the subjects and levels, and the date of the papers. With that in hand we can quote a block length and an hour count. Without it, the first session is spent discovering what a document would have shown in five minutes.

  2. 02

Check what the school already provides

Ask the IB coordinator what revision the school runs, in which subjects, and how intensively. Where provision is already strong, the honest recommendation is a short component block rather than a full one, and we would rather tell you that than sell sixteen weeks twice.

  3. 03

Scope the block in weeks, not hours

We propose a named number of weeks and sessions against named components, with the travel weeks and Ramadan already built in. You see the total hours and the total structure before any money is discussed.

  4. 04

    Free trial lesson

One lesson with the proposed tutor, on the actual weakest component, at no charge. You watch the teaching rather than read a profile. If the match is wrong we offer a different tutor instead of asking you to persist.

  5. 05

    Teach, mark, review

Topic repair first, component technique second, full timed papers last. One marked timed piece between sessions with written feedback. A review at weeks four, eight and twelve that either confirms the plan or says plainly that it needs changing.

  6. 06

    Stop adding content

In the final fortnight the work is retrieval, logistics and sleep. We confirm the timetable with the family, stop introducing anything new, and reduce session length rather than increase it. Adding content in the last two weeks costs marks rather than earning them.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The block is priced, not just the hour

Three of six researched competitor pages publish no price at all and the two that do quote USD. This page prices the actual purchase, a block of a named length, in AED, with the provider who published each band and the month it was read.

Group size is disclosed as a number

The largest lever on a revision quote is how many students share the session and how much marking happens per student. We state the trade rather than advertising a low group rate without saying how many people are in the group.

Sequenced backwards from the papers

Topic repair, then component technique, then full timed papers, then stop. No researched competitor publishes a revision sequence at all, and the most common failure we see in this emirate is content teaching still running in the final fortnight.

A paper specialist, not a neighbour

Online delivery means the Mathematics Higher Level Paper 3 teacher rather than whoever lives near Al Raha. Revision is paper-specific work, so the specialist matters more here than in any other kind of tutoring.

The cheap option offered first

Where mock evidence shows one failing component, we quote a four-session component block rather than sixteen weeks, because it costs a sixth as much and often moves the grade just as far. We also tell you when the school's own provision makes a block unnecessary.

Sourced, and silent where we cannot source

Every regulatory statement here points to u.ae, KHDA, MoHRE or a dated news report. No IB exam date appears, because the IB's own site blocks automated checking. No self-assigned rating, no statistic without its source, no guaranteed grade.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Abu Dhabi: your questions answered

How much do IB revision classes in Abu Dhabi cost for a full term?+

A sixteen-week block of one weekly ninety-minute session is about twenty-four teaching hours. At the published UAE qualified-tutor band of AED 150-300 an hour that is roughly AED 3,600-7,200 for one subject; at specialist rates of AED 200-450 and above it runs to about AED 10,800. Those bands come from Unitors, TutorChase and Bestimate as read in October 2026 and are market figures, not an IB Gram price list. Exam entry is charged separately by your school. A four-session component block on a single weak paper costs a fraction of this and is often the better purchase.

Is a six-week intensive cheaper than a sixteen-week revision block?+

Cheaper in total and more expensive per week. Eighteen hours against twenty-four means a lower bill, but you are buying intensity in place of time, and intensity moves a grade less efficiently than spacing does. The intensive works well where the mock evidence points at execution rather than knowledge, because full timed papers with feedback are what fixes execution. It works badly where whole topics are missing, because six weeks is not long enough to teach content and then practise it. If you are inside eight weeks of the papers, reduce the scope to one component rather than compressing a whole subject.

Does a group revision class work as well as one-to-one for IB?+

It depends almost entirely on the marking. A group session where timed work is marked collectively or self-marked tells a student far less about their own error pattern than a one-to-one session with a full paper marked and returned. For content coverage a group is adequate and cheaper. For component technique, which is what Diploma revision mostly is, individual marking is the mechanism. Ask any provider three questions: how many students exactly, who marks the timed work, and how quickly it comes back. Those answers separate a revision product from a room with a teacher in it.

How many weeks before the May papers should a revision block start?+

Sixteen weeks is the usual full run and it has a clear internal shape: topic repair in the first four weeks, component technique in the next four, full timed papers in the following four, and error-pattern drilling before stopping entirely in the last fortnight. Starting earlier than sixteen weeks usually means revising content the school has not finished teaching. Starting later is workable but narrows what is realistic. Confirm the actual examination window with your school's IB coordinator or on ibo.org rather than relying on any tutoring site, including this one, for an IB date.

Can two of my children share one IB revision session to cut the cost?+

Only if they are genuinely at the same level in the same subject with similar error patterns. Paired revision halves the per-student cost and also halves the marking per student, which is an honest trade when the match is real. When it is not, the session degrades into teaching one child while the other waits, and eight weeks of that costs more than any rate saving. We will decline a pairing we think will not work rather than take the booking. Siblings two years apart in different subjects cannot share a block, however convenient the timing would be.

Which IB subjects are the most expensive to find a revision tutor for in this emirate?+

Computer Science at Higher Level is the hardest to staff locally, followed by Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Higher Level and Economics Higher Level, where the demand is concentrated on Paper 3 in each case. Abu Dhabi has fewer IB World Schools than Dubai, so the resident pool in minority Higher Level subjects is thin, and thin supply prices upward. Biology and Business Management at Standard Level are the easiest and cheapest to staff. Delivering online removes the geography constraint entirely, which is the main reason specialist subjects are findable at all from Al Ain or Al Shamkha.

What should the mock results show before we pay for a revision block?+

Component-level marks rather than an overall grade. Ask the school for the breakdown showing how each paper and the internally assessed component contributed. A flat profile across components points at timing and execution, and the six-week intensive on full papers suits it. One collapsed component against sound performance elsewhere points at a four-session component block, which is the cheapest useful intervention available. A mock sat before a third of the syllabus had been taught is not evidence of anything except the calendar, and buying sixteen weeks on the back of it usually means paying for re-teaching the school is about to do anyway.

Do revision sessions keep running during Ramadan in Abu Dhabi?+

Yes, with the timing moved rather than the sessions cancelled. School days shorten through the month, the household reorganises around Iftar, and for most students the productive window shifts to after the evening meal. A block that insists on a 17:00 slot through Ramadan will quietly lose four to six sessions, which in a sixteen-week plan is a quarter of what you bought. Agree the post-Iftar timing before the month starts rather than improvising in week two. Continuity is the mechanism by which revision works, so protecting the sequence matters more than protecting the hour it happens at.

Will the block continue if we travel out of the UAE during the spring holidays?+

Online sessions continue, allowing for the time difference, which is one of the practical reasons we deliver this way. An in-home arrangement does not continue, because the tutor is in Abu Dhabi and the student is not. The more useful habit is to write the travel weeks into the plan before the first session. A sixteen-week block with four known travel weeks is a twelve-week block and should be scoped, sequenced and priced as one. Discovering the gap in April rather than January is how a revision plan loses its final-stage timed papers, which are the stage that matters most.

Is the school's own revision programme enough on its own?+

Sometimes, and it is the first thing to check rather than the last. Many Abu Dhabi schools run structured revision in the final term, and it is already inside fees you are paying. Where that provision is strong in a subject, buying a sixteen-week private block in the same subject is paying twice for the same thing. Ask the IB coordinator which subjects are covered, how intensively, and whether timed work is individually marked. Where the answer is thin in one subject or one component, that is exactly where a short private block earns its money.

Can a revision tutor help with the Extended Essay and TOK as well?+

Yes, within a firm boundary, and it is often the best value in the whole plan. These components feed up to three bonus points through a published matrix and are marked against named criteria most students have never read closely. A tutor may teach those criteria, discuss whether a research question is answerable in the word count, read a draft the student wrote and give feedback on structure, argument and evidence, and mark practice work. A tutor may not write any part of it, rewrite a paragraph to its final form, choose the question or generate data. A breach is a malpractice finding against the student.

Does the price of a revision class in Abu Dhabi include VAT?+

Ask any provider directly and get the answer in writing before booking, because the quoted figure and the invoiced figure are not always the same thing. We will not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as fact on this page without a Federal Tax Authority citation, which is the honest position rather than a dodge. What matters practically is whether the number you were quoted is the number you pay, and whether a block price is per session, per hour or inclusive of marking time. The AED bands on this page are published market rates from other providers, not IB Gram prices.

Are revision tutors in Abu Dhabi required to hold a permit?+

Individuals providing private tuition in the UAE need the MoHRE private tutor work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible categories include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Tutoring without one exposes the individual to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule is published so no amount should be quoted to you. ADEK licenses and inspects private schools in Abu Dhabi; it does not approve individual tutors.

Can we book my child's own subject teacher to run the revision block privately?+

Avoid it. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff have been reported as barring teachers from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct makes the same point about students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Verify the current wording against ADEK's own policy document before relying on it. There is also a practical reason beyond the rules: the teacher who delivered the course the first time is the least likely person to spot why the delivery did not land for your child.

What is the cheapest revision purchase that can still move an IB grade?+

A four-session component block on one named paper, priced at roughly AED 900-2,700 at published UAE market rates for six hours of teaching. It only works where mock evidence shows the rest of the subject performing and one component dragging the grade down, which is more common than parents expect. Economics Higher Level Paper 3 and Mathematics Higher Level Paper 3 are the two components where this happens most often in Abu Dhabi. Where two or more components are weak, the component block is not enough and you are back to a full block, honestly priced.

Can IB Gram promise the grade will improve after a revision block?+

No, and nobody honestly can. A revision block changes what a student can retrieve under time, how accurately they read a command term and how they allocate minutes across a paper. It cannot promise a 7 or any specific movement, and a page offering that is either misunderstanding the assessment or hoping you will not check. What we commit to is a named number of weeks against named components, one marked timed piece between sessions with written feedback, and reviews at weeks four, eight and twelve that say plainly whether the plan is working.

Price the block before you price the hour

If you are costing IB revision classes in Abu Dhabi, work out the purchase before you negotiate the rate. Ask the school for component-level mock marks, ask the IB coordinator what revision the school already runs, and count the weeks you will genuinely have once travel and Ramadan are deducted. Send us those three things and we will quote a named block length against named components, with the lost weeks built in and the cheaper component-block option offered first where the evidence supports it. A free trial lesson with the proposed tutor comes before any commitment, delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.
