Edexcel IGCSE Accounting 4ac1 Tutor in Abu Dhabi

An Edexcel IGCSE Accounting 4ac1 tutor in Abu Dhabi usually costs somewhere between AED 150 and AED 450 an hour, and the gap is not about quality alone. It is about who is allowed to teach your child, how far a tutor would have to drive, and how thin the accounting specialist pool really is in this emirate. IB Gram teaches 4AC1 one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, starting with a free trial lesson and a look at marked work.

  • Lessons run live online, one-to-one, with no tutor travelling to an Abu Dhabi address
  • Every AED figure on this page is a market rate with its source named
  • Teaching is built around your child's own marked 4AC1 scripts and school deadlines
  • The MoHRE permit position is explained so you can verify a tutor yourself

IB & IGCSE in Abu Dhabi

Why 4AC1 quotes in Abu Dhabi arrive hundreds of dirhams apart

Ask three providers in Abu Dhabi what an accounting tutor costs and you will get three numbers that barely overlap. A university student advertising on a community board may quote AED 60 an hour. An agency with a subject specialist will quote AED 250. A named specialist with a waiting list may quote beyond AED 500. None of them is lying. They are selling different things, and the differences stay invisible until the first invoice arrives: marking, preparation, travel, replacement cover, and whether anybody reads your child's school scheme of work before the first lesson.

Abu Dhabi adds its own pressure to that range. ADEK professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff bar teachers from taking paid private work with students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE private tuition work permit carries a code of conduct that says the same thing. This has been reported in the Gulf press and should be checked against the current ADEK policy document before anyone treats the wording as exact. The practical effect on a parent is simple enough: the cheapest and most obvious option, the person already teaching the class, is off the table, and the local market prices accordingly.

Accounting is also a thin subject here. Most Abu Dhabi private schools entering candidates for Pearson Edexcel International GCSE run large groups in Mathematics A and English Language A and a single small group in Accounting, sometimes taught by a business studies teacher covering a second specialism. That scarcity shows up in the hourly rate, in how long a match takes, and in how often a family is offered a business studies tutor for an accounting paper. The two subjects share vocabulary and almost none of the mark scheme.

Then there is the drive. An in-home tutor crossing from Al Khalidiyah to Khalifa City at four in the afternoon is paid for the hour taught and the hour lost, which is why Bestimate's 2026 rate table puts in-home one-to-one work at AED 180-350 against AED 45-150 at the budget online end. Families in Al Reef, Al Shamkha and Mohammed Bin Zayed City feel it most. The pool of people willing to drive out and back for a single hour is small, and the ones who will do it charge for it.

This page gives the numbers rather than hiding them, then says plainly what IB Gram sells. Lessons for Abu Dhabi families run one-to-one over live video, in Gulf Standard Time. Home visits in Abu Dhabi are not something IB Gram offers anywhere in the UAE, because that is an India-only service, so the travel premium disappears and the choice of tutor stops being a function of who lives within a twenty-minute drive of your building. What replaces it is an accounting specialist and a weekly record of marked work.

At a glance

  • Market rate for a qualified online accounting tutor: roughly AED 150-300 an hour
  • In-home one-to-one across the UAE: AED 180-500, with travel funded inside the hour
  • 4AC1 is two written papers and carries no coursework, so nothing a tutor sees is assessed work
  • ADEK rules bar a school's own staff from paid tutoring of their own enrolled students
  • A 4AC1 entry deadline is set by the school's exams officer, weeks before Pearson's own date
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Accounting sits inside a bigger decision about option blocks and the post-16 route. These are the four programmes an Abu Dhabi family choosing or already sitting 4AC1 is usually weighing, with what each one changes about the cost and the shape of tutoring in this emirate.

4AC1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Accounting

Two written papers, each carrying half the marks, with no coursework or controlled assessment. The content runs from the double-entry framework and books of prime entry through control accounts, correction of errors and the suspense account, to final accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, then ratio analysis and interpretation. Paper timings should be confirmed on the current Pearson specification, which is the only place they are authoritative.

In Abu Dhabi, 4AC1 is usually a single option-block group rather than a year-wide subject, so a student who falls behind rarely has a second class to move into. ADEK licenses and inspects the school, but the entry and the internal deadlines belong to the school's exams officer. Ask who that person is in September rather than in March.

0452Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Accounting 0452

The Cambridge route to the same qualification level, assessed by two papers with a multiple-choice and short-answer structure that differs from Pearson's. The accounting is broadly the same accounting; the command terms, the layout expected in a statement of financial position and the way marks are released for own-figure answers are not. A tutor who has taught only one board will cost you time on the other.

Abu Dhabi schools split between the two boards, and some enter different subjects with different boards in the same year. Before paying for any accounting hours, get the exact syllabus code from the exams officer. A family that books 0452 help for a 4AC1 candidate pays twice, once for the lessons and once for the unlearning.

WAC1Ages 16-18 · Years 12-13

Pearson Edexcel International A Level Accounting

The post-16 continuation, where Year 11 habits either pay off or become expensive. Published accounts, cash-flow statements, standard costing, budgeting and investment appraisal all assume the double-entry fluency that 4AC1 was supposed to build. Students who passed Accounting by memorising formats rather than understanding them usually meet the gap in the first term of Year 12, when there is far less room to fix it.

Fewer Abu Dhabi schools offer Accounting at A Level than at International GCSE, so some families discover in Year 11 that continuing means changing school or sitting as a private candidate. That is worth knowing before option choices are signed, because it decides whether 4AC1 is a terminal qualification or the first half of a four-year run.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Business Management

The IB alternative for a student who preferred the commercial side of accounting to the ledgers. Business Management covers finance and accounts as one unit of five, with ratio work and cash-flow forecasting but no double-entry bookkeeping, and it carries an internal assessment that has to be the student's own from first idea to final submission.

Several Abu Dhabi schools run both the Diploma Programme and International GCSE, so the switch at sixteen happens inside one building. Students arriving from 4AC1 usually find the finance unit straightforward and the internal assessment unfamiliar, since nothing in Pearson Accounting asks for a research question or a tool-based analysis of a real organisation.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Accounting is almost never tutored alone. These are the subjects Abu Dhabi families most often pair with 4AC1, with what each one assesses and where the marks tend to go missing. Rates for all of them sit inside the same market bands set out further down this page.

Accounting (4AC1)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Two written papers, half the marks each. The expensive topics are correction of errors, control accounts, partnership appropriation and limited company final accounts. Students lose marks on presentation conventions, such as missing dates, wrong narratives and totals that are not cast, long before they lose them on understanding.

Accounting (0452)

Cambridge IGCSE

The same subject under Cambridge command terms, with a multiple-choice component Pearson does not use. Candidates trained on Pearson layouts often lose marks here for over-writing short answers and for ignoring the own-figure rule, which lets a wrong subtotal still earn the marks that follow it.

Business (4BS1)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The usual partner subject. It shares the finance vocabulary with Accounting and almost none of the mark scheme: 4BS1 rewards applied judgement and evaluation in extended answers, while 4AC1 rewards accurate records. A student who is strong in one is not automatically strong in the other.

Economics (4ET1)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Diagram accuracy is where this subject is won and lost. Labelled axes, a correct shift and a stated direction of change earn marks that prose cannot recover afterwards. Students arriving from Accounting often under-explain, assuming the number speaks for itself on the page.

Mathematics A (4MA1)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, Foundation and Higher tier

Accounting candidates rarely struggle with the arithmetic and often struggle with percentage change, ratio and reverse percentages under time pressure, which are exactly the skills ratio analysis depends on. Tier choice matters, because Foundation caps the grade available and the decision belongs to the school.

English Language A (4EA1)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Relevant to Accounting because the interpretation questions are written answers. A student who can calculate a current ratio and cannot say what it means in two sentences is losing marks that a language tutor, not an accounting one, usually fixes fastest.

ICT (4IT1)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

A common option-block neighbour, assessed with a practical examination that rewards evidence discipline: file names, screenshots, test plans. Those habits transfer to accounting presentation, which is also marked on whether an examiner can follow what the candidate actually did.

Computer Science (4CP0)

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The other technical neighbour, with an on-screen programming paper that sits oddly beside written subjects in the same study timetable. Families often ask whether one tutor can cover both subjects; in practice the specialisms rarely overlap enough for that to work well.

Arabic and the mandatory UAE subjects

All year groups

Private schools in the UAE are not obliged to follow a specific national curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, which run alongside the international programme. They take timetable space that an accounting revision plan has to work around rather than ignore.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes of support cover almost every 4AC1 request that reaches us from Abu Dhabi. All of them run over live video in Gulf Standard Time. The difference is how many hours you buy, how far ahead of the series you start, and how much of the cost goes on marking rather than teaching.

Weekly one-to-one, across Year 10 and Year 11

One sixty- or ninety-minute session a week from the start of the course, with a short piece of marked work between sessions. This is the cheapest route per grade moved, because the double-entry foundations get fixed while they are still cheap to fix. It is also the only shape that leaves room for the final-accounts topics to be taught twice.

  • Sixty minutes suits Year 10; ninety suits Year 11 paper practice
  • Marked work returned with a written note before the next session
  • Slots are held in Gulf Standard Time, from about 4.45pm onwards
  • Pauses for school examination weeks without losing the slot

Pre-series block, counted backwards from the paper

A fixed number of hours bought six to twelve weeks before a Pearson series, spent almost entirely on timed questions and on the correction of errors topic that eats marks at speed. It costs more per hour of real gain than a two-year weekly plan, and it is still worth doing when the alternative is nothing at all.

  • Starts from a marked mock script, not from the syllabus
  • Two sessions a week is normal in the final month
  • Covers the presentation conventions examiners withhold marks for
  • Planned around the entry deadline, not only the exam date

Paired session for two candidates in the same cohort

Two students from the same school and the same board share a session and split the hourly rate between them. It works for accounting because the common errors are shared, and it stops working once the two students need different topics. Market small-group rates in the UAE sit well below one-to-one, which is why families ask about it.

  • Same board, same year group, same teacher, or it fails
  • Each student still gets their own marked work back
  • Cheaper per family than two separate hours
  • Reverts to one-to-one for the final month if the gap widens

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Abu Dhabi

01

What the Abu Dhabi market charges for accounting tuition

Three of the six competitor pages researched for this project publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars. A UAE family does not transact in dollars, so here are the bands in dirhams with the source attached to each one. These are market figures and not an IB Gram price list. Our own position is a free trial lesson and a conversation about hours, because the right number depends on how many weeks are left and how much marking is involved.

Read the table as a map of what is included rather than as a quality ladder. A tutor at AED 60 an hour is usually teaching from a textbook and returning nothing in writing. A tutor at AED 250 is usually marking a timed question between sessions, which is where most of the grade movement in accounting actually happens. Above AED 500 you are paying for scarcity, a named specialist whose hours are already full, and for accounting in Abu Dhabi that scarcity is real rather than manufactured.

The monthly figures are the ones parents budget against. Packages seen in this market run from about AED 799 a month for eight online sessions to AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's 2026 estimates for a single weekly hour land at AED 240-600 at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. Accounting sits in the middle band for most Abu Dhabi families and at the top of it during Year 11.

Nothing in the table includes the examination entry fee. That is charged by the centre entering your child, not by the tutor, and a private candidate pays it separately. Ask the school for the figure in writing before building a budget around it, and ask at the same time whether the school will enter an external candidate at all.

02

Three things specific to this emirate that move the number

The first is the ethics rule. ADEK professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and a teacher tutoring outside school hours needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit, whose code of conduct bars serving students affiliated with their own school. Treat that as press-reported rather than quoted, and verify it against the current ADEK document. It matters commercially because it removes the one supplier a parent would otherwise approach first, and scarcity raises a price.

The second is subject depth. Accounting is an option, not a core, and an option group of a dozen students does not justify a second specialist teacher. A family in Al Raha or Khalifa City looking for an accounting tutor in Abu Dhabi is therefore competing with every other family in the same position for a very small number of people who have actually taught 4AC1 to a series. That is why match times for accounting run longer than for Mathematics A, and why a business studies tutor is so often offered instead.

The third is distance. Abu Dhabi is a long emirate. A tutor living on the island and teaching in Al Shamkha spends more time in the car than in the lesson, and the rate has to carry both. Online accounting tuition in Abu Dhabi deletes that line item, which is the single largest saving available to a family outside the island districts. The table below sets out what a weekday session realistically looks like from each district, and what changes once the drive is removed.

03

What 4AC1 actually assesses, and which parts cost the most to fix

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Accounting is assessed by written papers alone, each carrying half the marks, and there is no coursework component anywhere in the qualification. That single structural fact shapes every sensible tutoring plan: the only thing being marked is what a candidate can produce on paper, under time, in a layout an examiner recognises. Confirm current paper durations on the Pearson specification page rather than relying on any third-party summary, this one included.

The content divides into three blocks of very different cost. The recording block, which covers double entry, books of prime entry, the ledgers and the trial balance, is cheap to teach and expensive to leave broken, because everything later depends on it. The adjustment block, which covers depreciation, accruals and prepayments, bad debts, control accounts and the correction of errors, is where most lost marks live. The interpretation block, ratio analysis and the written comment on it, is the one most often rushed in the final weeks.

The adjustment block is where tutoring hours earn their keep. Correction of errors and the suspense account reward a specific procedure, and a candidate who has not practised it will usually get the journal right and the suspense account wrong, or will fix the ledger and forget the statement of profit or loss. Partnership appropriation and limited company final accounts behave the same way: the marks sit in a sequence, and a sequence is teachable. Guesswork is not, and at AED 250 an hour guesswork is expensive.

04

Where Abu Dhabi candidates lose accounting marks

  • Missing dates and narratives on journal entries, worth marks on every paper
  • Suspense account corrected in the ledger but not in the final accounts
  • Own-figure marks abandoned after one wrong subtotal
  • Ratio calculated correctly and then not interpreted in words
  • Presentation formats carried over from a previous curriculum

Most of the lost marks we see in marked 4AC1 scripts from this emirate are not conceptual. They are procedural, which is good news, because procedure is the fastest thing to teach. A candidate who understands depreciation can still lose three marks for omitting the date, mislabelling the account, failing to carry a balance down or leaving a total uncast. None of that requires a re-teach of the topic. It requires somebody to mark the work and name the habit.

The second pattern is narrative. Pearson expects a narrative on a journal entry, and a surprising number of candidates write the figures and skip the words. The third is the own-figure convention: when a candidate carries forward a wrong subtotal and the mark scheme allows the following marks to be earned anyway, a student who abandons the question loses everything that was still available. Students taught to keep going score better than equally able students taught to be careful.

The fourth pattern is specific to this market. Students in Abu Dhabi who moved into International GCSE from an American or Indian curriculum often arrive with correct accounting and the wrong presentation conventions, because the formats differ. That shows up as a strong candidate marked down repeatedly for the same thing. It takes two or three sessions to correct and it is almost never diagnosed in class, because the class is being taught content rather than having its scripts read line by line.

05

Counting backwards from a Pearson series

No competitor page researched for this project names an examination session at all. That is a strange omission, because the session is what the whole plan hangs from. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May or June and in November each year, so a Year 11 candidate in Abu Dhabi has a real choice about which series to sit, and a resit candidate has a second chance within the same academic year rather than twelve months later.

The dates that matter are not only the exam dates. Pearson publishes a provisional timetable well ahead of each series, including one for the International GCSE November sitting a year out, and then confirms a final timetable; the November 2026 series ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Because provisional dates can be revised, any plan should be built against the live official timetable rather than against a figure copied onto a page like this one. The entry deadline sitting inside your child's school is earlier still, and it is the one families miss.

Results timing shapes the resit decision. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. A family deciding in late August whether to resit in November has a few weeks to make the entry, which is why the conversation about a resit should happen before the result arrives rather than after it. Cambridge candidates sitting 0452 work to a calendar with the same logic and different months: Cambridge gives UAE centres a June series and a November series, with June results released on Cambridge International Direct in August and November results reaching candidates in January. A 0452 student weighing the November series as a second attempt is making that decision in the same late-August window a 4AC1 student is, and in both cases the entry is submitted by the school as the examination centre rather than by the family.

Who is permitted to charge you for accounting lessons in Abu Dhabi

Private tutoring in the UAE is a permitted activity, and it is permitted on conditions. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, it is granted free of charge for two years, and the eligible categories include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged fifteen to eighteen, and university students. The application route is MoHRE's own service, Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, through the smart app, the website and the e-services system.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so no page should quote an amount, and any figure you see circulating should be treated as unverified. What a parent can usefully do is ask the question directly before paying anything: does this person hold the permit, and under which category. A tutor who treats that as an unreasonable question has answered it.

A business is a different matter from an individual. An operation with premises and staff needs an educational services permit from the relevant authority, which is a specific licence issued to training institutes, and nothing about holding a work permit makes a tutor regulator-endorsed. IB Gram does not hold a KHDA, ADEK, SPEA or Ministry of Education licence and does not describe itself as having one. We can explain the system, point you to the official channel, and tell you exactly what our own tutors are and are not.

07

Online delivery against an in-home accounting tutor in Abu Dhabi

An in-home accounting tutor in Abu Dhabi is a real product that real families buy, and the honest case for it is supervision: a parent in the next room, a child who cannot close a laptop, a younger student who needs the structure of somebody physically present. The honest case against it is arithmetic. At AED 180-500 an hour you are funding a drive, and the tutor you get is drawn from whoever is willing to make that drive to your district on that evening.

Accounting is unusually well suited to a screen, which is not true of every subject. The work is written, sequential and visual: a shared document with a ledger on it, annotated live, is closer to how the subject is actually assessed than a notebook on a kitchen table. Screen-sharing a marked script and working through the examiner's deductions line by line is the core activity, and it loses nothing over video. A practical science subject would be a harder argument to make.

So the comparison for an Abu Dhabi family is not convenience against quality. IB Gram does not send a tutor to your address in this emirate, because home visits are a service offered only in India, and the saving is spent on specialism instead: a tutor who has taught 4AC1 to a series, at an hour that works in Gulf Standard Time, with a marked script between every session. For a family in Al Reef or on Yas Island, that is the difference between an accounting specialist and the nearest available tutor.

08

What 4AC1 is worth afterwards: the five-subject count and equivalency

Families in Abu Dhabi often ask whether Accounting counts for anything beyond the certificate, and the answer sits in the Ministry of Education equivalency rules for the British track. A student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must also show either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or better, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Accounting is a subject like any other inside that count.

One detail saves families money and is widely got wrong. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects for the GCSE or IGCSE count. A page currently ranking for these searches tells UAE candidates they must take six International GCSE subjects; the sourced rule is five, excluding those two. That difference can change an option-block decision in Year 9, which is why it is worth checking the Ministry's own guidance rather than a tutoring company's summary, including this one.

IB Gram does not perform, submit or guarantee equivalency, and no points threshold for the IB route is published here because none has been verified on the Ministry's own pages. Nor is tutoring a requirement for equivalency, admission or progression; any page implying otherwise is manufacturing urgency. What tutoring can honestly do is make a grade more likely than it would otherwise be, and in a five-subject count a single borderline grade is sometimes the whole decision.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Abu Dhabi

Where you live in Abu Dhabi changes the arithmetic of tutoring more than it changes the teaching. These notes cover the school clusters each district feeds, the realistic earliest start for a weekday session, and what an in-home tutor would have to drive to reach you.

Abu Dhabi Island — Al Khalidiyah and the Corniche

Dense, well served by schools, and the one part of the emirate where an in-home accounting tutor is genuinely findable. Parking and the afternoon school-run crawl still push a realistic first weekday slot back to about 4.45pm.

Al Mushrif and Al Nahyan

A long-established British-curriculum catchment, with families often holding places across two or three island schools. Sessions here can start earlier than on the mainland because the drive home is short, which matters for a Year 11 candidate sitting a November entry.

Khalifa City

Villa communities with long internal roads, so an in-home tutor loses time inside the compound as well as on the way to it. Accounting tuition in Khalifa City usually settles on a 5.30pm or 6pm online slot, keeping weekends free for timed paper practice.

Al Raha Gardens and Al Raha Beach

Close to the eastern school corridor and to the airport road, which is the bottleneck. Accounting groups in this cluster are small, so a student who needs a second explanation of the suspense account rarely gets one in class.

Saadiyat Island

A short causeway from the island and a long way from the mainland tutor pool. Families here pay the top of the in-home band for anyone willing to make the trip, which is why online delivery changes the sum most sharply in this district.

Yas Island

Newer schools, newer cohorts, and option blocks that are still settling. Accounting is often a single option group rather than a year-wide subject, and the timetable can place it opposite something else your child also needs.

Al Reef and Al Shamkha

Far enough out that the weekday in-home market thins to almost nothing. The honest comparison here is not cheap in-home against expensive online; it is a subject specialist against no subject specialist at all.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Al Reem Island

Two very different districts with the same problem: a 4AC1 candidate whose school runs one small accounting group, and whose nearest subject specialist is not in Abu Dhabi. Both are straightforward to serve over live video from 6pm.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Island and Al Mushrif

The oldest and densest cluster in the emirate. Students we support here are mostly sitting Pearson Edexcel or Cambridge International GCSE in Year 11, with Accounting as an option-block choice. Ask the exams officer which board each subject is entered with, because it is not always the same board across one timetable.

  • The British School Al Khubairat
  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • Al Bateen Academy
  • Abu Dhabi International School
  • Merryland International School

Khalifa City, Al Raha and the eastern corridor

This corridor carries a large share of Abu Dhabi's British-curriculum enrolment. Accounting groups here are small, and families frequently find in Year 10 that the subject is taught by somebody whose first specialism is business studies. That is a teaching-capacity question rather than a criticism, and it is the usual reason a family starts looking.

  • Al Yasmina Academy
  • Raha International School
  • The British International School Abu Dhabi
  • GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi

Saadiyat, Yas and the newer island campuses

Newer campuses with cohorts still working through their first Year 11 option cycles. The in-home tutor pool reaches Saadiyat and Yas unevenly, and families on the causeways pay the top of the market travel premium when it does reach them. Online delivery removes that line from the quote entirely.

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the marked work, not a description of it

Photographs of the last two marked accounting papers, the school's scheme of work if you have it, and the syllabus code. A description of the problem is a starting point; a marked script is evidence. Most of what a first session needs to know is already written on those pages in another teacher's handwriting.

  2. 02

A free trial lesson that produces a diagnosis

Sixty minutes over live video, in which the tutor works through one of those scripts with your child rather than delivering an introductory lecture. You get a short written note afterwards naming the topics, the procedural habits and the realistic number of hours. There is no card required and no obligation to continue.

  3. 03

A weekly plan with one named topic and one marked task

Each session has a single topic and ends with a timed question to be completed before the next one. The task comes back marked against the published mark scheme with the lost marks named. That written record is what lets you judge whether the money is doing anything, without taking our word for it.

  4. 04

A review at four sessions, against the scripts

After four sessions there is enough marked work to see a trend or the absence of one. We look at it with you and say which it is. If the match is wrong, changing tutor at that point costs four hours rather than a term, and that is the honest moment to make the decision.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Board-specific rather than subject-general

A 4AC1 candidate needs somebody who knows Pearson's layouts, narratives and own-figure conventions, not somebody who knows accounting in general. We say which board a tutor has actually taught to a series, and we will tell you when the honest answer is the other board.

Marked scripts rather than attendance

The deliverable between sessions is a marked piece of work with the lost marks named, not a report that lessons took place. It is the only evidence a parent can read without specialist knowledge, and it is the first thing to ask any provider in this market for.

Published rates and a map of the market

The table on this page quotes competitors' own published figures with the source attached, because three of six researched pages publish nothing at all. You should be able to see where any quote sits in the Abu Dhabi market before you accept it, including a quote from us.

Academic-honesty boundaries stated up front

4AC1 carries no coursework, so the question is narrower here than on an IB page, but the principle holds across every subject we teach: a tutor teaches, marks and gives feedback on a student's own work. Assessed work remains the student's throughout, and we will not take it over.

Coverage disclosed, including the gaps

Accounting is a thin specialism in this emirate. If no 4AC1 specialist is free at the hour you need, we say so and set out the alternatives rather than filling the slot with a business studies tutor. A disclosed gap is cheaper for you than an undisclosed mismatch.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Abu Dhabi: your questions answered

What does an Edexcel IGCSE Accounting 4AC1 tutor cost per hour in Abu Dhabi?+

Market rates in Abu Dhabi for a qualified subject tutor working online sit at roughly AED 150-300 an hour, with International GCSE specialists at AED 200-450 and named premium tutors above AED 500. Budget online options advertise from AED 45-150, and in-home visits run AED 180-500 because travel is funded inside the hour. Those are published market figures from EdFlik, Tutopiya, Unitors, TutorChase, Bestimate and BartyED as at October 2026, not an IB Gram price list. What we quote depends on hours, weeks remaining and how much marking is involved, and the first lesson is free.

Why can my child's own accounting teacher not tutor them privately in Abu Dhabi?+

ADEK professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE private tuition work permit carries a code of conduct that bars serving students affiliated with the teacher's own school. This has been reported in the Gulf press and the exact wording should be checked against the current ADEK policy document. The effect for you is that the most convenient supplier is unavailable, which is part of why specialist rates in this emirate sit where they do. Asking a teacher to breach it puts their position at risk.

Does living on Abu Dhabi island rather than Khalifa City change what we pay?+

For in-home tutoring, considerably. The island has the densest tutor pool in the emirate, so a family in Al Khalidiyah can usually find somebody at the lower end of the AED 180-500 in-home band. A family in Khalifa City, Al Reef or Al Shamkha is paying for a longer drive and a smaller pool, which pushes the rate up and the availability down. For online lessons the district changes nothing about the price. It changes only the realistic start time, because the school run still has to finish first.

Is a Cambridge 0452 accounting tutor interchangeable with a Pearson 4AC1 one?+

Not reliably. The underlying accounting is the same, but Cambridge IGCSE Accounting 0452 uses a multiple-choice component Pearson does not, the command terms differ, and the expected layouts and own-figure conventions are not identical. A tutor who has taught only 0452 will teach your child good accounting and some wrong habits, which then cost marks on a 4AC1 paper. Before booking anything, get the syllabus code from the school's exams officer in writing. Some Abu Dhabi schools enter different subjects with different boards in the same year, so one answer does not cover the timetable.

How many hours of 4AC1 support should an Abu Dhabi family budget for Year 11?+

A weekly sixty- to ninety-minute session across Year 11 is about thirty to thirty-five hours, which at mid-market rates lands somewhere near AED 600-1,200 a month on Bestimate's 2026 estimates. A family starting in January rather than September is usually buying twenty hours at a higher intensity, which costs less in total and delivers less. The variable nobody budgets for is marking time. Ask whether marking is inside the hourly rate or charged on top, because that single question changes the real cost of a term by a noticeable margin.

Do accounting tuition rates in Abu Dhabi rise before the November series?+

Availability tightens rather than headline rates. Accounting specialists in this emirate are few, their evening slots fill from about September, and by October the question is usually whether a slot exists rather than what it costs. Some providers do price short intensive blocks above their standard hourly rate because the preparation and marking load per session is higher. The practical consequence is that a family deciding in late October for a November entry is choosing from what is left. Booking against the entry deadline rather than the exam date avoids most of that.

Which 4AC1 topic areas swallow the most tutoring hours?+

The adjustment block, every time. Correction of errors and the suspense account, control accounts, depreciation, accruals and prepayments, and bad and doubtful debts between them account for most of the marks lost in the scripts we read. Partnership appropriation and limited company final accounts come next, because the marks sit in a sequence and a broken sequence loses several at once. Double entry itself is cheap to teach and expensive to leave broken. Ratio interpretation is usually the last thing to get attention and the easiest to improve in the final fortnight.

Are accounting lessons for Abu Dhabi families taught online or at an Abu Dhabi address?+

Online, one-to-one, over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send a tutor to an address in Abu Dhabi or anywhere else in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. The search term that brought you here is the phrase parents use, so we would rather answer it plainly than pretend. What you get instead of a visit is a wider choice of specialist, no travel premium inside the rate, and a marked script after each session that a parent can read without knowing any accounting.

What does an in-home accounting tutor in Abu Dhabi charge, and what is inside that number?+

Published market figures put in-home one-to-one work at AED 180-350 on Bestimate's 2026 table, with independent home tutors quoting AED 200-500 and monthly in-home packages at AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour sessions. Inside that number is the lesson, the travel to your district and the travel back, and in most cases no written marking. The travel is the part worth examining, because you are paying for an hour the tutor spends in a car. It also narrows your choice to whoever will make that drive on that evening.

Does a quoted accounting tuition rate in Abu Dhabi include VAT?+

Ask, and ask for the answer in writing. The VAT treatment of tuition in the UAE depends on the provider and is not something a tutoring page should state as fact without a Federal Tax Authority citation, so treat any page that does with caution. What a parent can reasonably require is clarity on one point: is the figure you were quoted the figure you will be invoiced, and is a tax registration number shown. A provider that cannot answer that about its own pricing has told you something useful about its administration.

Is a group accounting class at an Abu Dhabi centre cheaper than one-to-one?+

Per hour, yes, and that is not the only question. A centre group runs to a fixed scheme at a fixed pace, which suits a student who is broadly on track and needs structure. It suits a student losing marks on a specific procedural habit far less, because nobody in a group is reading that student's scripts line by line. A paired session with one other candidate from the same school and board is often the better compromise: the rate splits, and each student still gets individual marked work back.

How do I check an accounting tutor is permitted to charge us in Abu Dhabi?+

Ask whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and under which eligibility category. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, so cost is no excuse for not having one, and the categories include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so distrust any page quoting an amount.

How does 4AC1 sit in the five-subject count for UAE equivalency?+

It counts as one of the five. The Ministry of Education's British-track requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at E or better or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five. One page currently ranking for UAE searches states six subjects are needed; the sourced figure is five. Verify it on the Ministry's own pages, because an option-block decision in Year 9 can turn on it.

What happens if no 4AC1 specialist is free in our evening slot?+

We tell you, which sounds obvious and is not the norm in this market. Accounting is a thin specialism and a 5.30pm Gulf Standard Time slot in October is the most contested hour of the week. The realistic options are a different hour, a weekend session, a wait of a week or two for a slot to open, or a paired session with another candidate from the same cohort. What we will not do is put a business studies tutor in front of an accounting paper and describe it as a match.

Where does the money go if we only have AED 1,000 a month for accounting?+

At mid-market rates that is roughly four to six hours a month, so spend it on diagnosis and marking rather than on coverage. Four sessions that each take one marked script apart and fix one procedural habit will move more marks than six sessions re-teaching the syllabus from the start. Ask for the marking in writing and use it yourself between sessions. If the budget has to stretch further, a paired session with another candidate from the same school and board roughly halves the hourly cost.

Getting a 4AC1 tutor in place from Abu Dhabi

Send the last two marked accounting papers and the syllabus code from your child's school, and say which district you are in and which evenings work. The free trial lesson runs over live video in Gulf Standard Time and ends with a written note naming the topics, the procedural habits and an honest number of hours. If no accounting specialist is free at the hour you need, we will say that rather than offer a near-match. The rate bands on this page are the market's, with the sources attached, so you can place any quote you receive, including ours.
